Recently I have been having issues with the rear back up camera in the vehicle not working turning off beeping when nothing is around, also glitching and showing the camera upside down. I am also experiencing battery drainage in the vehicle I have just had the battery replaced and the alternator replaced as well, while I am searching online for common issues this seems to be happening to a large amount of people and the issues just keep equaling out to more then one problem. Motors staying on, electrical problems, constant power draws, many more issues I have many links to articles with dodge journey owners having numerous issues and dodge not wanting to fix anything or recall things to fix their mistakes. Electrical system keeps failing. Ecm emitts erroneous commands and changing it doesn’t solve the problem. Dealer won’t work on it and Chrysler doesn’t know. Research says that this is happening by the thousands.
The car inside electrical would turn on, radio on, lighting on, fan on, but the engine light would be on and the car would not start. Not even a tow truck can jump it. I've fixed it once and they said it was the alternator, but that was 6 mths ago.
I was getting into leave my car and three lights came up. The traction light, ABS, and my Brake light. It rained really hard yesterday and now I have all three lights on my dash. Supposedly the recall is no more and I have to pay out of pocket. I just bought this car back in May of 2022. I should not be held responsible for paying out of pocket for this recall. I need help getting this fixed.
Vehicle will not start. Took to dealership and they charged battery. After repairing some recommendations I got the car back and it wouldn’t start. Same issue as before, I took it back and they said it was dead battery. I paid for a new battery and drove it home. Next day it would not start. I’ve been reading some reader boards and I’m told it has to do with wiring to the transmission. It gets cold in Alaska and my daughter and granddaughter can’t be stranded in inclement weather. Tested the starter and the alternator and both are good. New battery and new key fob battery and still a no go. Dodge needs to figure this out, as their certified mechanics can’t seem to diagnose the issue.
Our 2013 Dodge Journey (only owners) has had a few recalls and had multiple challenges with overheating within the engine. Although, We have had all the recalls we are aware of completed it continues to shut off and not start. Ours, our children, and other passengers safety has been at risk as we have been strained with no running vehicle and the unknown if the vehicle will just shut off while in operation. While we can not guarantee the sources of the general internet it is a common search and alignment to say an abundance of 2013 Dodge Journey owners have experienced this and have been searching for answers yet have not received an adequate response. Our vehicle has been inspected by a Dodge facility, and two other independent mechanics to no avail we are in this situation with no answers nor solutions. Our check engine light has been present since we can remember and we were told on multiple attempts even after the engine beauty cover recall that it was ok, obviously it’s not and is sad the quality of the engine lasted barely 128,000 miles. Our Journey has been un-drivable as it is stated to need a new engine from the overheating.
MY CAR STALLED ON ME WHILE DRIVING. THE FIRST TIME (2014) IT HAPPENED I WAS MAKING A TURN ON A CITY STREET. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. IT JUST STALLED WHILE DRIVING LAST WEEK FOR A SECOND TIME. I WAS WAITING ON A LIGHT ON A CITY STREET. MY CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD I COULDN'T PUT THE HAZARD LIGHTS ON. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A SCHOOL ZONE. I TRIED STARTING IT AND NOTHING. TWO GENTLEMEN HAD TO PUSH MY CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE, IMAGINE HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY SOMEONE WOULD OF HIT FROM ME BEHIND AS I HAD NO POWER AT ALL. THERE WAS NO WAY OF WARNING THE CARS BEHIND ME AS I HAD NO POWER. I REPLACED THE BATTERY IN 1/2021 AND ALTERNATOR IN 3/2021. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE DODGE FORUM WEBSITE I BELIEVE SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE FOR SAFETY ISSUES. ALSO MY BLUETOOTH SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING THAT IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE. I DID COMPLAIN TO DODGE AND THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THE DODGE FORUM WEBSITE. MY DODGE JOURNEY IS CURRENTLY AT A SHOP UNDER DIAGNOSTICS. IT MAKES IT UNSAFE FOR ME TO WANT TO DRIVE IT AT THIS POINT.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND ENGINE DIED. DASH LIGHTS AND GAUGES FLASHED OFF AND ON. SPEEDOMETER WENT BACK AND FORTH. THEN IT STARTED RUNNING AGAIN. A COUPLE DAYS LATER IT DIED WHILE TURNING A CORNER. I HAD TO RESTART VEHICLE. A COUPLE DAYS AFTER THAT I WENT TO START THE CAR AND NO LIGHTS, GAUGES OR NOTHING WORKED. THE BATTERY AND REMOTE KEY WERE FINE. CHECKED TO SEE IF HORN WOULD BLOW, IT WORKED. TRIED TO START AGAIN AND EVERYTHING WORKED FINE. IT IS VERY UNSAFE FOR IT TO JUST DIE WHITE ON THE HIGHWAY GOIN AROUND A CURVE.
I'VE HAD MY JOURNEY FOR ONLY 7 YEARS. A YEAR AND A HALF AGO THE MODULE STOPPED WORKING SO I COULDN'T CONNECT MY IPHONE TO UCONNECT. I CALLED THE DEALERS AND ASKED HOW MUCH TO FIX THIS AND THEY SAID AN OUTRAGES AMOUNT OF OVER 200.00.SO I DECIDED NOT TO DEAL WITH THEM.BY THE WAY I WAS DRIVING. MY WHOLE STEERING COLUMN IS CAUSING PROBLEMS FROM AIRBAGS, MY WIPERS NOT WORKING NOW, SPEED-CONTROL WONT WORK., TRACTION CONTROL . MY DODGE JOURNEY'S ENGINE SHUT OFF TWICE WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH NO WARNING. NO LOSS OF LIGHTS OR RADIO, BUT THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS OFF AND CAR CANNOT BE RESTARTED. THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, AND RIGHT AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AT A RED LIGHT THE CAR DIED. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED, AND HAD AN AUTO PART STORE DO SOME BASIC TESTS AND WAS TOLD IT WAS JUST A BAD BATTERY, HOWEVER WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN THE DAY AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY. THIS TIME I WAS ON A CITY STREET HAVING JUST EXITED OFF OF THE INTERSTATE. I WAS IN TRAFFIC AND AGAIN THE CAR JUST LOST POWER DUE TO THE ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN. AGAIN IT WOULD NOT START AND COULD NOT BE JUMP STARTED SO HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. DEALER WAS ABLE TO GET A CODE P061C, AND FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS TO UPDATE THE PCM. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS APPLIED TO THE POWER CONTROL MODULE. I AM VERY CONCERNED WITH THE FACT THAT MY CAR CAN JUST SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. VERY DANGEROUS.
THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT PROBLEMS I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH SINCE DAY ONE OF OWNING MY DODGE JOURNEY. THE FIRST BEING ELECTRICAL, MY CLOCK RUNS FAST BECAUSE OF THE POWER FLOW TO IT. I HAVE 2 POWER OUTLETS IN MY CAR THAT DO NOT WORK PROPERLY AND 1 OF THEM THE DEALERSHIP IN FLORIDA MESSED UP TO FIX ONE OF THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE SECOND ISSUE IS WHEN I ACCELERATE MY TRANSMISSION CLICKS, I WAS PRETTY MUCH TOLD I WAS CRAZY BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE NOISE AND NOW THAT I DO NOT HAVE A WARRANTY THEY ARE REPORTING IT TO ME AND WANT ME TO PAY. THE LAST AND FINAL ISSUE IS MY BRAKES I HAVE HAD MY BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED AND MY BREAK MASTER CYLINDER AND I STILL KEEP LOSING MY BRAKES. IF I HAVE TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES OR PUT ANY REAL PRESSURE MY BRAKES GO SOFT AND TO THE FLOOR. BOTH OF THESE PARTS WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE JUST GUESSING ON WHAT WAS WRONG AND THEY DIDN'T CORRECT THE PROBLEM.
MY RADIO KEEPS CHANGING STATIONS AS I AM DRIVING. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS WHEN I HIT A BUMP, SOMETIMES IT JUST DOES IT RANDOMLY ON ITS OWN. IT HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING OR STATIONARY. VERY FRUSTRATING!
Battery, car started turning off. Turned off on us when we made a stop right after getting off of freeway, luckily no car were coming. Changed Battery but still had problems. Then check engine light turned on, car stared pulling, had a mechanic check it and said it was the engine. We would have to replace it and that's those kind of cars we're having a lot of problems.
CRANK SENSOR, CUT OUT TWICE WITHIN 2 YEARS TIME AND HAD TO GET REPLACED! EACH TIME, VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION! VERY DANGEROUS! HAD TO TOW VEHICLE EACH TIME. MY CHILD WAS IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME THE FIRST TIME. I EXPECT FULL REIMBURSEMENT FOR EACH INCIDENT. *JS
VEHICLE NEVER SHIFTS RIGHT. DOORS SOMETIMES WON'T UNLOCK LEAVING ME STUCK INSIDE. STRANDED ON SIDE OF ROAD AFTER BATTERY SAVER LIGHT CAME ON AND ABS LIGHT CAUSING MY CAR RPMS TO FLY UP TO 4 REPEATEDLY AND I COULD BARELY GET OFF THE MAIN ROAD SAFELY BEFOELRE THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING. WHEN I GO TO TURN IT BACK ON SAYS MY CAR IS NOT IN PARK WHICH IT IS. I REALLY HOPE I'M NOT DEALING WITH WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE DEALT WITH WITH THIS VEHICLE. MY CAR IS ABOUT TO HIT 70K MILES. I GET EVERY SERVICE DONE TO IT. ALSO GOT THE BRAKES DONE NEW AND THEY STILL SQUEAK.
STATIONARY AT THE TIME MECHANIC CAME, CAR HAD NOT BEEN RUNNING RIGHT, HESITATING WHILE DRIVING, AND STALLED IN DRIVEWAY. BATTERY NOT CHARGING OR HOLDING A CHARGE/ NO START, NO NOTHING SENT TO LOCAL MECHANIC - I HAVE NOT HAD A RUNNING CAR FOR FIVE WEEKS. ALTERNATOR SHOT, AND CHARGING SYSTEM, REQUIRES COMPLETE RE WIRE AS OF 8-13 / 3 BURNT WIRES, MECHANIC CALLED AUTO ELECTRIC SPECIALIST, INDICATED COMPLETE CHARGING SYSTEM BURNT UP.
FOR TWO YEARS BATTERY HAS BEEN UNABLE TO HOLD CHARGE, EVEN WHEN REPLACED NEW, ENGINE RIDING ROUGH TO COMPLETE STOP IN ROAD, NO FLASHERS ETC. ALTERNATOR REPLACED COMPLETE ELECTRIC HARNESS BURNT, ALL FIXED STILL WILL NOT HOLD BATTERY CHARGE. NO CAR FOR TWO MONTHS. CAR STALLED IN ROAD.
BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED I WAS TOLD TO CHANGE THE ALTERNATOR WHICH I DID. AN HOUR LATER THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN THEN I WAS TOLD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY WHICH I DID. AFTER AN HOUR DRIVE THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN I WAS TOLD THE BATTERY SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR DIED COMPLETELY I HAD TO GET TOWED. I WAS TOLD TO GET AN ALTERNATOR FROM MOPAR WHICH I DID. NEW BATTERY ANOTHER NEW ALTERNATOR A NEW SENSOR NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON.
