TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 DODGE JOURNEY. AFTER THE CONTACT OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR A YEAR, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND THE TORQUE CONVERTER CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SLIMAN'S SALES & SERVICE (7498 LEAVITT RD, AMHERST, OH 44001, (440) 988-4484) WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE HAD SEVERAL UNKNOWN RECALL REPAIRS THAT HAD TO BE SERVICED AFTER THE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT WAS COMPLETED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION INDICATOR FLASHED ON AND OFF SINCE THE INITIAL REPAIR. ALSO, THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET ON SEPTEMBER 23, 2019. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS, BUT THE SAME INDICATOR FLASHED AGAIN. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNRESPONSIVE. THE DEALER OFFERED TO SELL THE CONTACT A NEW VEHICLE AND LAUGHED AT HER CONCERNS ABOUT THE CONDITION OF HER VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, I NOTICED MY SPEED DROPPING. I PUSHED ON THE GAS BUT GOT NO RESPONSE. THEN TRAFFIC BEGAN TO STOP BUT I COULDNT! MY BRAKES DID NOT WORK!!! I PUT MY HAZZARD LIGHTS ON AND BEGAN TO DRIFT ACROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC BECAUSE THE STEERING ALSO DID NOT WORK!!!! I ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS AS I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL MY VEHICLE. I MADE IT TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND PUSHED THE EMERGENCY BREAK COMING TO A JOILTING STOP. ONCE I CAUGHT MY BREATH AND STOPPED SHAKING, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. I THEN EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND CREPT ACROSS TOWN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE I HAD JUST LEFT GETTING MY OIL CHANGED PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THEY CHECKED OUT THE VEHICLE BUT FOUND NO BAD CODES OR ANY OTHER ISSUE SO THERE IS NO FIX FOR SOMETHING THEY COULD NOT RE-CREATE.. THIS IS MY 3RD JOURNEY (2010, 2011, 2015) AND I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I HAD NO ISSUES WITH THE PRIOR TWO YEARS. I AM TERRIFIED OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE NOW ESPECIALLY NOTING SO MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE.

I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER 2015, JUST TWO WEEKS AGO WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT MY VEHICLE JUST TURNED OFF . WHEN TRYING TO RESTART MY VEHICLE JOLTED THEN TURNED ON, I TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY STATED ALL IT NEEDED WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND IT WOULD FIX IT AND THAT IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. WHILE 4 DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN THIS TIME THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WE WERE TURNING A CORNER AND BAM THE CAR TURNS OFF AGAIN ALMOST GETTING SLAMMED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. I HAD TO HELP MY.HUSBAND PULL THE WHEEL TO TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED BRAKED DIDN'T WORK OR ACCELERATOR. I OPENED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER AND THEY SAY THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I REALLY NEED HELP.WITH THIS SOME PLEASE HELP THIS IS A UNSAFE VEHICLE
I BOUGHT THE 2015 DODGE JOURNEY FOR MY FAMILY, SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLOW TO PICK UP SPEED. SINCE IT WAS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE, I FIGURED THE KINKS WERE JUST GETTING WORKED OUT. I TOOK THE DODGE IN FOR A RECALL FOR A DIFFERENT ISSUE, AND TOLD THEM CHECK MY TRANSMISSION. THEY TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION WAS A "LEARNED" TRANSMISSION MEANING IT HAS TO GET ADJUSTED TO THE WAY IT'S BEING DROVE AND COULD NEED UPDATING. THE DEALER CHECKED IT AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. A WEEK LATER IWAS ON THE FREEWAY AND IT DIDN'T WANT TO PICK UP SPEED LIKE IT SHOULD. THE CAR ACTS LIKE IT GETS STUCK IN BETWEEN GEARS. EVERYTIME I GET A RECALL,OR TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE I HAVE THEM CHECKTHE TRANSMISSION, AND THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS THE SAME. THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL JERKING AND NO SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. NOW I AM VERY RELUCTANT TO PUT MY WIFE AND KIDS INTHIS VEHICLE WITH THESE ISSUES.

THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V168000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,556. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
HIT A COW ON A COUNTY ROAD AT APPROX. 55 MPH AFTER COMING AROUND A CURVE. NO TIME FOR ANY EVASIVE MANEUVERS. VEHICLE WENT AIRBORNE AND LANDED APPROX. 40 FEET FROM INITIAL IMPACT. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER'S CHEST IMPACTED THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING HAIRLINE FRACTURES TO THE STERNUM AND A DISLOCATION OF THE LEFT SHOULDER AND SEVERE BRUISING OF THE STOMACH AND HIPS WHERE THE SEATBELT WAS. DRIVER WAS AIRLIFTED DUE TO INJURIES. DRIVER'S SERVICE DOG'S SEAT BELT DISENGAGED AND WAS THROWN TO THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE AND SUFFERED MINOR INTERNAL INJURIES AND WAS TAKEN FOR TREATMENT

THE CONTACT ALSO HEARD AN ABNORMAL LOUD NOISE WHEN APPLYING AND RELEASING THE BRAKE PEDAL. ALSO, AT VARIOUS POINTS IN TIME, THE BRAKE PEDAL FAILED TO FUNCTION AND THE CRUISE CONTROL INTERMITTENTLY FAILED TO WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. I WAS RECENTLY INVOLVED IN AUTOMOTIVE COLLISION FRONT END DAMAGE. MY CAR FRAME WAS BENT AND TRANSMISSION WAS LEAKING. EVERYONE THAT HAS B=SEEN MY CAR BELIVES THAT THE AIRT BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED BUT DIDNT. I HAVE BRUSICING ON MYARM DUE TO HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL HARD. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHE PURCHASING CAR. CHECK FOR RECALLS!!!

THE PLASTIC AROUND THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS HAS BROKEN OFF EXPOSING SHARP METAL, AS WELL AS BINDS THE SEATBELT UP PREVENTING PROPER USE. THE SEATS WERE USED AS THEY SHOULD BE, THE PLASTIC CLIP THAT LOOKS TO HAVE SECURED IT IS TOO FAR TO THE SIDE TO WITHSTAND A DRIVER OR PASSENGER GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE IF THEY TURN TO THE SIDE. I WAS TALKING WITH A PERSON AT WORK ABOUT THIS ISSUE AS THEY OWN A JOURNEY AND HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. OUR VEHICLE ONLY HAD 13K MILES WHEN THIS HAPPENED, SO IT'S NOT AN OLD PLASTIC ISSUE. I MANAGED TO CUT MY LEG WHEN WEARING SHORTS DUE TO THIS ISSUE, SO IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM.

I WILL DESCRIBE THE 'PROBLEM' TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY: AT COMPLETELY RANDOM TIMES IF THE CAR HASN'T WARMED UP EXTENSIVELY IT LOSES POWER AND THE FEELING IS AS IF YOU HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED BY ANOTHER CAR. YOUR FOOT IS STILL ON THE GAS AND THE CAR DOESN'T REV IT JUST HAS NOTHING. I WAS ALMOST HIT MANY TIMES. I ACTUALLY HAD TO PULL OUT OF TRAFFIC AND PUT MY FLASHERS ON TO LET IT WARM UP ANOTHER 7-10 MINUTES. THIS SEEMED TO SOLVE IT, YET I STILL ASKED MANY PEOPLE IF THEY THOUGHT THIS WAS COMMON WITH SUCH A NEW VEHICLE.. I BROUGHT IT IN ON MARCH 14 AT 7PM. BY 9 AM THE NEXT MORNING I GOT A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR? THERE WERE 'NO CODES AND NO WARNING LIGHTS, SO THEY COULDN'T FIX WHAT THEY DIDN'T SEE.' I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND DROVE HOME. 2 DAYS LATER I DROVE A MILE FROM MY HOUSE TO CVS PHARMACY AND HAD 'THE PROBLEM' OCCUR WHILE I WAS GOING ABOUT 45 MILES PER HOUR. AGAIN, I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A CAR BEHIND ME BECAUSE THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STOPS WITH NO WARNING, NO BRAKING, ETC... IT IS THE SCARIEST FEELING! IT WAS COMPLETELY ODD TO ME BECAUSE IT WAS NOT COLD THIS DAY. I LOOKED THE TEMP GAUGE IN THE CAR AND IT WAS 53 DEGREES. MY HUSBAND TOLD ME TO NOT DRIVE IT THE REST OF THE DAY. WHEN HE GOT HOME HE FOLLOWED ME TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY HAD THE CAR OVER A MONTH AND FINALLY CALLED ME. THEY CLAIM IT WAS A LOOSE WIRE, BUT GAVE ME SUCH VAGUE INFO.. I TALKED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND HE STILL SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW 100% ACCURACY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THIS CAR. HE SAID HE WOULD NOT DEEM IT 100% SAFE. I CHOSE TO TURN THE LEASE IN EARLY BECAUSE I WILL NOT RISK MY LIFE OR MY FAMILY'S LIFE IN THIS CAR. I DON'T WANT ANOTHER PERSON TO BUY THIS CAR NOT KNOWING THE CONDITION IT IS IN! IT ONLY HAS 8345 MILES ON IT AND IS A BEAUTIFUL CAR, BUT DANGEROUS!

I AM EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF TNE INTERIOR LIGHTING TO INCLUDE THE 4.3-INCH TOUCH SCREEN DISPLAY, THE TS DISPLAY HAS AT TIMES NOT ILLUMINTATED FOR UP TO A FULL MINUTE. ALSO AT TIMES THE INTERIOR LIGHTING WILL DIM FOR NO REASON, NO EXTERNAL LIGHTING HAS CHANGED TO CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN. UCONNECT OFTEN WILL HAVE ISSUES WITH CONNECTING TO PHONE. THE ILLUMINATION ISSUES OCCUR EITHER AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS JUST BEEN STARTED OR IT HAS OCCURED WHILE DRIVING. WE ARE ALSO EXPEREINCING ISSUES WITH THE BRAKE BEING DIFFICULT TO PRESS DOWN ON WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, EITHER WITH THE REMOTE START OR WITHOUT. WE RECENTLY HAVE TAKEN IN THE VEHICLE TO HAVE IT INSPECTED AND THEY DID NOT SEE ANY ISSUES. ABS....BRAKING FAILURE....MY BRAKES FAILED ON 12/31/2015 SHORTLY BEFORE 3PM, I WAS LEAVING A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT, A CAR WAS BACKING OUT, SO I WENT TO HIT MY BRAKES, AND THEY WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT STOPPING OR SLOWING DOWN, I TRIED A SECOND TIME BUT STILL NOTHING HAPPENED, SO I AS I GOT CLOSER TO THE CAR, I VEERED AWAY FROM IT AND BUMPED A POLE TO STOP MY CAR, I WAS GOING BETWEEN 5-7 MILES PER HOUR, AND THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T STOP. MY VECHICLE HAD FRONT END DAMAGE TO THE BUMPER AND THE HOOD, AND NOT SURE IF THE BUMPER OR THE HOOD PRESSED AGAINST THE RADIATOR, BUT THAT NEEDED REPAIR AS WELL. MY INSURANCE COMPANY TOOK CARE OF THE DAMAGE, I LATER FOUND OUT WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP GETTING BODY WORK REPAIRED, THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY ABS, SHORTLY AFTER I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL. NOT SURE IF THAT WAS THE REASON WHY MY BRAKES FAILED, BUT THEY ISN'T ANY OTHER EXPLANATION, MY VEHICLE WAS ONLY A LITTLE OVER 3 MONTHS OLD, AND SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD THAT PROBLEM. AFTER THE BODYSHOP COMPLETED THE BODY DAMAGE THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOWED IT TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND THEY REFUSED THE VEHICLE STATING THEY WOULD ONLY FIX IT IF I ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ACCIDENT, AND THAT I HAD TO PUT IT IN WRITING FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY, SO THAT THEY INSURANCE COMPANY WONT MAKE THEM REIMBURSE THEM FOR THE DAMAGES THAT THEY ALREADY PAID FOR. (WHICH DIDN'T MAKE ANY SENSE TO ME.. I AM STILL WAITING FOR SOMEBODY TO ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY AS TO WHY I DIDN'T HAVE ANY BRAKES, AND WHY THE INSURANCE COMPANY JUST DIDN'T HAVE THE REPAIR SHOP FIX THE BRAKES AS WELL. ...EVEN AFTER ALL THE FRONT END DAMAGE I'M STILL CONFUSED AS TO WHY THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. IN DEC 2015 I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AND WAS INFORMED THAT ANOTHER NOTICE WOULD BE SENT WHEN I WAS TO CONTACT THE DEALER. THIS IS FOR THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. THE 2ND NOTICE WAS RECEIVED IN JAN16. I CALLED THE DEALER ON 1/4 AND 1/21/16 AND WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE AND DID NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD HAVE THE PART TO MAKE THE REPAIR. THEY SAID THEY WOULD TAKE MY NAME AND NUMBER AND PUT ME ON THE WAITING LIST AND CALL ME WHEN THE PART WAS IN. IT IS 3/1/16 AND I HAD NOT HEARD FROM LANDMARK DODGE WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND HAD BEEN IN CONTACT WITH. I CALLED THEM TO SEE IF THEY HAD THE PART AND GUESS WHAT THEY SAID THEY JUST HAPPEN TO GET 5 IN TODAY! HOWEVER THEY COULD NOT SCHEDULE THE REPAIR UNTIL 4/1/16. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE BRAKE SYSTEM HERE. 4 MONTHS TO DO A REPAIR THAT THE MANUFACTURER KNEW WAS REQUIRED FOR SAFETY SAKE. I REALLY FEEL THE NHTSA SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS. ALSO THIS IS THE 2ND RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE AND I HAVE NOT EVEN OWNED IT FOR A YEAR YET. THE FIRST WAS THE ENGINE BEAUTY COVER WHICH WE HAD TO WAIT FOR THAT PART ON ALSO. AFTER GETTING MY 2015 DODGE JOURNEY I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH IT UNTIL I HAD 3 RECALLS ON MY CAR AND NOW I AM WAITING FOR ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE GPS AS IT SEEMS THAT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE GPS THAT HAVE BEEN REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES BECAUSE THEY STOP WORKING AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS. EVERYONE KEEPS SAYING THEY GET THE SAME ERROR THAT STATES UNABLE TO OPEN MAPS AND WHEN PEOPLE TAKES IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY ALL SAY THAT THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE HOLD GPS UNIT WITH A COST OF AROUND $750 DOLLARS AND PEOPLE HAVE DONE THIS MULTIPLE TIMES ON THEIR CARS INCLUDING ME.

THIS OCCURRED IN A DRIVEWAY UPON START-UP OF VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE REFUSED TO START DURING CRANKING OF ENGINE. DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED FOR ADVICE, THEY RECOMMENDED TO JUMP THE VEHICLE. DIRECTIONS WERE FOLLOWED WITH HOOD IN THE OPEN POSITION AND FUEL WAS OBSERVED SPRAYING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT UPON CRANKING OF THE ENGINE. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED AGAIN IN WHICH THEY TOWED THE CAR TO THEIR SHOP TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THEY NOTED THE FUEL LINE ATTACHED TO FUEL RAIL WAS IMPROPERLY INSTALLED (AT FACTORY AS DESCRIBED BY DEALERSHIP GARAGE) WHICH CAUSED THE FUEL TO SPRAY THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
