WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE LEFT SIDE WINDOW SWITCH STARTED TO SMOKE. HE PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THE SMOKE STOPPED. HE THEN STARTED THE VEHICLE BACK UP AND FIRE CAME OUT OF THE WINDOW SWITCH.
ON OCTOBER 2, 2015 WE PURCHASED A NEW 2015 DODGE JOURNEY THAT WAS UNDER A RECALL THAT WE WERE NOT INFORMED ABOUT FROM CARL GREGORY DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP IN ALBANY, GEORGIA. THE ENGINE BEAUTY COVER MAY DETACH FROM THE ENGINE AND COME IN CONTACT WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. SAFETY RISK: IF THE ENGINE BEAUTY COVER REMAINS IN CONTACT WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, UNDERHOOD SMOKE AND/OR A FIRE MAY OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING. REMEDY: THE ENGINE BEAUTY COVER MUST BE MODIFIED AND A MOUNTING SYSTEM MUST BE INSTALLED. RECALL STATUS: RECALL INCOMPLETE. REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER AT 2:15 PM ON OCTOBER 12, 2015 TO SEE WHY WE WERE SOLD A VEHICLE UNDER RECALL, THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME "I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT ME TO SAY, IT'S NOTHING TO LOSE SLEEP OVER." IN A CONDESCENDING TONE. HE DID NOT KNOW HOW LONG IT'D BE BEFORE THE DEALER WOULD SEND OUT NOTICES OR HOW LONG BEFORE THE REPAIR COULD BE MADE.

THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IN 3 MONTHS... THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON, GOES OFF, THEN THE FUEL CAP LIGHT COMES ON. THE FIRST TIME WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A SENSOR AND THERE WAS A MINOR VAPOR LEAK DETECTED SO DODGE REPLACED THE SENSOR. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED, THERE WAS A MAJOR VAPOR LEAK DETECTED SO THEY REPLACED THE GAS CAP. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME AND ARE WAITING TO SEE WHAT IS CAUSING IT NOW. ALSO, YET ANOTHER ISSUE OCCURRED IN WHICH THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE AIR CONDITIONING FAN WOULD NOT BLOW, SUPPOSEDLY THAT SITUATION RESOLVED ITSELF ALTHOUGH THIS WAS WITNESSED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT RECREATE IT. FINALLY, WE PURCHASED A 4 CYLINDER AND LIVE IN A CLIMATE THAT GETS UP OVER 115 DEGREES. WHEN ACCELERATING, THE A/C BLOWS WARM. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS STATED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 4 CYLINDER DODGE JOURNEYS.

WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE BY PLACING MY FOOT ON THE BREAK AND PRESSING THE START ENGINE BUTTON, THE CAR INITIALLY BEGAN TO START BUT THEN SHUT OFF (IT WAS ON A HALF TANK OF GAS). I RELEASED THE BREAK, AND THEN MADE A SECOND ATTEMPT; PRESSING THE BREAK AND PRESSING THE START ENGINE BUTTON. THIS TIME THE ENGINE REPEATED THE INITIAL VEHICLE START SOUND (AS IF IT WERE COUGHING), UNTIL I HIT THE START ENGINE BUTTON TO TURN CANCEL THE PROCESS OR TURN THE ENGINE OFF. THE VEHICLE STARTED SUCCESSFULLY ON THIRD ATTEMPT. WHEN I GOT HOME, I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE ICON WAS ON - NOT BLINKING, JUST ON. I TURNED OFF MY ENGINE, AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE ENGINE ICON LIT UP AGAIN. THIS MORNING WHEN I WAS DISCUSSING IT WITH MY HUSBAND HE LET ME KNOW THAT A FEW DAYS AGO THE JOURNEY HOOD WAS POPPED. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE THE HOOD POPPER IS, AND NONE OF MY PERSONAL BELONGINGS GOT SNAGGED ON ANYTHING SO I DON'T BELIEVE I AM THE ONE WHO POPPED IT.

I PURCHASED MY 2015 DODGE JOURNEY CROSSROAD IN JUNE OF 2015 BRAND NEW. AT LESS THAN 8,000 MILES WHEN GOING FROM PARK TO DRIVE OR REVERSE TO DRIVE I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE A VIOLENT JERK AND / OR LOUD NOISE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT RECREATE IT AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN TOO OFTEN THEN. TOOK IT IN FOR THE RECALL AND AT AROUND 10,000 MILES MENTIONED THAT IT PICKED UP IN FREQUENCY AND AGAIN THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T GET IT TO HAPPEN. I TOOK IT IN ONE LAST TIME AROUND 12,000 MILES BECAUSE IT WAS HAPPENING EVEN MORE FREQUENTLY AND I WAS AGAIN TOLD THEY CANT RECREATE IT AND THEY REFUSE TO CHECK THE TRANSMISSION. I GAVE UP. NOW AT ABOUT 40,000 MILES AND 3 YEARS LATER AND IT HAPPENS DAILY. I WILL BE TRYING A DIFFERENT DODGE DEALERSHIP SOON TO SEE IF THEY CAN HELP, IF NOT I AM GETTING RID OF THIS VEHICLE.
PURCHASED NEW JUNE 2015,. IN JULY 2015 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON- AC PROBLEM -IT WOULD BLOW HOT AIR. THE SERVICE DEPT RESET THE CODES. THIS PROBLEM STILL OCCURRS INTERMITTENTLY. THE TRANSMISSION FAILED IN AUGUST 2015- SERVICE REPLACED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AS EVERY GEAR/CLUTCH WAS BURNT. SERVICE RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME SEPT 10, 2015. TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN SEPT 16, 2015. TAKED BACK TO SERVICE DEPT- THEY "RELEARNED THE TRANSMISSION" RETURNED IT TO ME SEPT 18, 2015. TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN SEPT 23, 2015. AS OF OCTOBER 1, 2015, SERVICE DEPARTMENT STILL HAS THE VEHICLE. ALL 3 TIMES THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WE NARROWED AVIODED A SEVERE CRASH. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I HAD MY CHILDREN I NTHE VEHICLE WITH ME. I AM RESEARCHING THE LEMON LAWS IN MY STATE BUT THE DEALER IS NOT BEING COOPERATIVE ABOUT THE LEMON LAW STATUS. THE DEALER HAS GIVEN ME A VEHICLE TO DRIVE WHILE MINE IS IN THE SERVICE DEPT.

WAS DRIVING OUTT OF STATE IN A 5 MONTH OLD VEHICLE. WE THEN STOPPED AT A FOOD PLACE FOR ABOUT 25 MINUTES. WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR, BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD AND WOULD NOT GIVE WAY, DASH LIGHTS LIT UP RUN LIGHT AS WELL BUT VEHICLE DID NOT START. ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH NO RESULTS. AFTER 5 ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE FINALLY STARTED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT LIT UP. LIGHT STAYED ON FOR 4 DAYS AND THEN WENT OFF. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP, AFTER INSPECTION DETERMINED CRANKSHAFT SENSOR MESSAGE WAS RECORDED. PART WAS ORDERED AND REPLACED. HOPE THIS FIXES THE PROBLEM. HAVE SEEN ALL OLDER MODELS HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES. HOPE DODGE ADDRESSES ANT EXSISTING ISSUES ON NEW MODELS.

I HAVE HAD MY NEW 2015 JOURNEY SINCE MARCH 2015. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS IN JUNE 2015. I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD THANK GOD NO ONE HIT ME FROM BEHIND. I PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT AND IT STARTED SO I THOUGHT OK IT WAS A ONE TIME THING. NOPE AGAIN IN JULY IT DID THE EXACT SAME THING WHILE MY HUSBAND AND MY KIDS WERE IN THE CAR. THE CAR RESTARTED SO I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SECOND TIME WHERE THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR 2 DAYS AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. SO I TOOK IT HOME AND THE VERY NEXT DAY IT DIED AGAIN. I NOW HAVE A OPEN REPAIR CASE WITH CHRYSLER HOWEVER I HAVE BEEN GOING BACK AND FORTH LIKE A PING PONG BALL. I FEAR FOR THE SAFETY FOR MYSELF AND FAMILY AS I DO NOT TRUST MY CAR. WHILE DRIVING HOME MY 2015 DODGE JOURNEY (WHICH ONLY HAD 2,108 MILES ON IT) DIED WHILE DECELERATING TO TURN INTO MY NEIGHBORHOOD. PRAISE GOD, NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME AND I HAD TO CRANK THE WHEEL TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES ALSO DIED. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS, INDICATORS, LIGHTS, ETC. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND HIT THE START BUTTON AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM I WOULD BE BRINGING IT TO THEM IN THE MORNING. THEY HAVE NOW HAD MY CAR FOR 5 DAYS AND CAN'T FIND ANY ERROR CODES IN THEIR COMPUTER WHEN RUNNING DIAGNOSTICS AND "CAN'T REPRODUCE THE STALL". THEY ARE KEEPING IT FOR A FEW MORE DAYS TO "PUT MORE MILES ON IT TO SEE IF THEY CAN REPRODUCE IT" AND ALSO HAVE A CALL INTO THEIR CORPORATE ENGINEERS AND ARE WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM. I TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE T.I.P.M. (TOTAL INTEGRATED PROGRAM MODULE) ON OLDER MODELS AND IN FACT 2 WERE REPORTED AT HTTP://WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/DODGE/JOURNEY/2014/ FOR 2014 MODELS. HE CLAIMED THAT THIS DEFECT IS ON OLDER MODELS 'ONLY' AND WASN'T THE PROBLEM. ALTHOUGH THEY ARE MAKING SOME UPDATES TO THE CAR'S COMPUTER SYSTEM WITHOUT KNOWING IF THIS WILL FIX IT, HE SAID IF THEY CAN'T DIAGNOSE OR REPRODUCE THE ISSUE, THEY WILL RETURN IT TO ME AND BASICALLY JUST HOPE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE HAD MY CAR RIGHT AT 3 MONTHS AND IT JUST SHUTS OFF WITH NO WARNING. I HAVE CHILDREN IN THIS CAR GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND IT JUST SHUTS OFF. IT IS VERY HARD TO GET IT INTO THE SHOP AND THEY ACT LIKE I'M THE PROBLEM CAUSE THEY CAN'T FIND IT. IT'S MY ONLY CAR AND I KEEP TELLING THEM WHAT IS GOING ON AND THEY SAY JUAT KEEP DRIVING IT. IT TAKES SEVERAL MIN FOR IT TO FINALLY START THEN IT SEEMS TO CLEAR OUT THE CODES. I HAVE CALLED THEM AND EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY KIDS AND MY SELF. THEY SEEM TO NOT BE WORRIED.
