BUYING A USED 2007 DODGE NITRO 4X4 R/T HAD IT A YEAR AND A HALF WITH 84,000 MILS ON IT STARTED IT UP ONE MORNING TO GO GET AN OIL CHANGE STOPPING AT MAIL BOX FIRST ABOUT 20 FEET AWAY FROM MY HOUSE TURNED OFF TRUCK GOT MAIL RETURNED TO TRUCK WOULD NOT START TOW IT TO DEALER SAID MY ENGINE WAS BAD NEED TO BE REPLACED SO IT COST ME $7,900 TO REPLACE , THE TIRES HAVE ALL WAYS NEVER KEEPS IT AIR
WENT ON A TRIP ABOUT 300 MILES AWAY FROM HOME. WHEN WE GOT THERE THE NEXT DAY MY REAR PASSENGER TIRE WAS LOW. EVERY DAY SENSE THEN I HAVE HAD TO PUT AIR IN MY TIRE. TOOK IT TO GET IT LOOKED AT AND MY RIM HAD CRACKED ON THE INSIDE THEY SAID I MUST HAVE IT A POT HOLE ON THE TRIP. I HOW EVER WAS THE ONLY ONE DRIVING THE NITRO THE WHOLE TIME AND NOTHING WAS EVER HIT. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THESES RIMS EVERY WINTER I HAVE TO GET THEM CLEANED B/C THEY ERODE AND CAUSE LEAKAGE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO. THE VEHICLE HAD MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR TIRES, TIRE SIZE 220/75R16. THE DOT NUMBER WAS B3DW002X2008. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT TIRES EXHIBITED A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF CHIPPING RUBBER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE CENTER WHERE THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE TIRES WERE REPLACED. FAILURE OF TIRE PRESSURE MONITORS ON DODGE NITRO. THE VALVE STEMS ON MY NITRO ARE FATIGUED AND ARE BREAKING APART. I HAVE HAD TWO REPLACED AND FEAR ONE OF THE ORIGINAL STEMS REMAINING WILL POSSIBLY BLOW WHILE TRAVELING AT A HIGH SPEED CAUSING A CRASH. *TR

IN COLD WEATHER, 4 TO 5 DEGREES AND COLDER, THE TIRES LOOSE PRESSURE. IT APPEARS TO BE THE VALVES WHICH CONTAIN THE SENSOR THAT INDICATES IF A TIRE IS LOW IN PRESSURE. ABOVE 5 DEGREES THE TIRES MAINTAIN THE REQUIRED PRESSURE. I HAVE TAKEN TO CARRYING A HAND PUMP SO THAT I CAN PUMP THE TIRE AS NEEDED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE NITRO 4X2. THE VEHICLE HAS GOODYEAR WRANGLER ST, SIZE P225/75/R16 TIRES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS HAD A FLAT TIRE EVERY THREE WEEKS SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED. SHE ALSO STATED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR LIGHTS REMAIN ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER CONTINUES TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE EVERY THREE WEEKS AND STATED THAT THE TIRE IS NOT LEAKING. THE DEALER ALWAYS REPLACES THE VALVE STEM, HOWEVER, THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHTS REMAIN LIT AND THE TIRE CONTINUES TO FLATTEN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE TIRE BECAUSE THEY CANNOT PROVE THAT IT IS DEFECTIVE. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,123 AND THE VEHICLE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 5,800.
TIRE PRESSURE METER GIVES A FALSE ALARM INTERMITTENTLY DURING INTERSTATE HIGHWAY DRIVING. ALARM CHIMES AND SAYS, "CHECK TPM SYSTEM" AND INDICATES THE RIGHT REAR TIRE HAS NO TIRE PRESSURE. AFTER AWHILE THE SYSTEM RETURNS TO NORMAL AND THEN ALARMS AGAIN. THIS CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE FROM WITHIN A HALF HOUR TO OVER TWO HOURS BETWEEN ALARMS. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN ATTEMPTED TO BE FIXED 5 TIMES. ALL TPM PARTS, SENSORS ETC HAVE BEEN REPLACED. DEALER NOW SAYS IT COULD BE CELL PHONE CAUSING PROBLEM. *TR
