There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact believed that the failure might be related to the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 163,000.
Passengers front seat head rest deployed on its own. The air back feature of my head rest deployed and it broke in the process. It is available for inspection. It happened when I was cleaning my car. So thank goodness not when I am driving. I was actually cleaning my car to trade it in for a dodge durango but after reading some articles that this is considered normal wear and tear also that dodge won't cover the cost for the repair and don't consider this a recall. I am highly reconsidering staying with dodge now. Specially the outcome of this. It hasn't been inspected yet. No warning signs.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. One day the airbag light started cutting on and off and then the horn started blowing randomly without being touched or even without even being in the vehicle with the car turned off. Took it to a mechanic and they have no clue what’s wrong.
2010 DODGE NITRO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FRONT SEAT ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT SAFETY RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE STEERING WHEEL HAD 3 SMALL HOLES WHERE THE EMBLEM SHOULD BE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT KNOW WHEN A FIX WOULD BE AVAILABLE.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with rear shocks and struts, air compressor, condenser, HVAC system, and electrical system failure. The mechanic replaced the spark plugs, engine coils, air compressor, and condenser. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that they could not assist since the vehicle was purchased from a Chevrolet dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
I GOT MY DODGE NITRO 4 MONTHS AGO FIRST MONTH I NOTICED MY ENGINE WAS STARLING AND I KNOW IS I HAD ELECTRIC ISSUES I TOLD MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT IF THE CAR STILL RUNNING IT'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT SOME DAYS MY WINDSHIELD WIPER WILL CUT ON BY ITSELF SOME DAYS MY BLINKER DON'T WORK I HAVE 6 MONTH WARRANTY . SO I WAS ON MY WAY GOING HOME COMING OFF THE FREEWAY STOP AT THE RED LIGHT THE LIGHT HIT GREEN I PRESS THE GAS MY WHEELS LOCK UP MY BRAKE LOCK UP AND THE CAR KEEP GOING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC MY CAR IS GOING INTO THE WRONG LANE I HAVE PICTURES OF THAT MAKING. HARD FOR ME TO TURN MY WHEEL NOW MY CAR BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR A MONTH STILL PAYING PAYMENTS

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, MY HEADREST MALFUNCTIONED AND UNEXPECTEDLY DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT HIT, NOR HAS IT EVER BEEN. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET, SLOWING DOWN TO APPROACH A STOPLIGHT.
THE IGNITION SWITCH OR W.I.N. HAS STOPPED WORKING , THROUGH RESEARCH THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE ON THESE MODEL YEAR TRUCKS. UNSAFE AS IGNITION MAY TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING. THANKFULLY MINE HAS NOT FAILED IN THAT ASPECT, BUT, HAS FAILED ENTIRELY, I SHUT ENGINE OFF, WENT TO RESTART, AND IGNITION SWITCH FAILED TO START VEHICLE.

I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 20-30 MPH. MY CAR STARTED MAKING A WHINING SOUND THEN MY DASHBOARD LIT UP WITH MULTIPLE LIGHTS STARTING WITH THE BATTERY AND THEN ALL OF THEM. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE IT COMPLETELY DIED. I HAD IT TOWED TO A GARAGE. THEY TRIED CHANGING THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY. IT STILL WON'T TURN ON. IT IS NOW AT A DEALERSHIP AND CURRENTLY CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT.
KEY SWITCHES GOING BAD AND CANT GET KEYS OUT 1000S OF COMPLAINTS ON FORUMS FAULTY DESIGN OR EQUIPMENT
AIRBAG-DASH LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND SHUTTING OFF. WENT ONLINE AND FOUND SEVERAL FORUMS WITH SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SOME ISSUE. ISSUE STARTED WHEN GOING OVER A STREET HUMP.
TIPM FLASHING , WIPERS DO NOT WORK, ABS LIGHT ON- SPEED WILL NOT GO OVER 40 AND TAKES A WHILE TO REACH SPEED. ACTS AS IF THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING OUT OF GAS, BRAKES NOT WORKING PROPERLY
TAKATA RECALL ENGINE LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE MOVING FROM ONE STATE TO ANOTHER. OIL IN ENGINE, DIDN'T KNOW WHY ENGINE LOCKED UP. REPLACED TRANSMISSION, STARTER AND A/C CONDENSER LEAKED.
HEADLIGHTS FLASH BUT DONT COME ON SOMETIMES ! AFRAID TO DRIVE AT NIGHT
TAKATA RECALL. MY 2010 DODGE NITRO MAKES A VERY LOUD, ALMOST DIESEL TRUCK LIKE SOUND, WHENEVER MY CAR IS RUNNING. IT ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE A VACUUM CLEANER INSIDE THE CAR. THE STEERING WHEEL, SEATS, PEDALS, BODY, AND GEAR SHIFT OF THE DODGE SHAKE CONSTANTLY. THIS HAPPENS SITTING STILL AND IN MOTION. THE ANTI THEFT LIGHT TURNED ON WHEN THE CAR WAS RUNNING, THEN THE CAR TURNED OFF AND WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON FOR AT LEAST FIFTEEN MINUTES. THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW IS STARTING TO NOT WORK.

ASHEBORO DODGE (1709 EAST DIXIE DR, ASHEBORO, NORTH CAROLINA 27203, (336-625-6123) DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUSE BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PART WAS NO LONGER MANUFACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 210,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DOOR LOCKS DONT WORK RITE ! BROKE SOMETHING ON INSIDE OF DOOR NOW PASSENGER CANT GET OUT . HAVE THIS PROBLEM ON 2 OF 4 DOORS. ALSO ON STARTUP TWICE NOW ELETRICAL SYSTEM GOES NUTS ,HAVE NO CLUSTER LIGHTS AND CANT GET IT OUT OF PARK BUT IT STARTS . I UNPLUGGED BATTERY THEN ITS FINE AGAIN
THE CAR ALARM WILL GO OFF WITHOUT ANY CONTACT ETC. VIDEO RECORDING SHOWS IT WOULD JUST ACTIVATE. IT'S WAKING UP NEIGHBORS ALL THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT WITH NO CONSISTENT TIMES. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF HOME EVERY TIME OBSERVED.
DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK. KEYLESS ENTRY SENDS SIGNALS SUCCECCFULLY, LIGHTS AND HORN ALL FLASH, BUT DOORS WONT OPEN;EVEN FROM THE DOOR PANEL IN THE CAR. FOUND FAULTY FUSE (M38) IN TIPM (FUSE BOX). ONCE CHANGED THE REAR WINDOW WIPER TURNED ON AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I PAID AN AUTO TECH WHO TOOK CONTROL OVER SYSYTEM WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT, AND BY PASSED THE WIPER SWITCH. HE WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE FRONT WIPERS, LIGHTS, HORN AND DOOR LOCKS REMOTELY (WHILE M38 FUSE WAS INSTALLED) BUT HE COULD NOT TURN OFF THE REAR WIPERS. THEY STAYED ON EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS POWERED DOWN, KEY OUT, DOORS OPEN. HE SAID THE FUSE BOX WAS FAULTY, BECAUSE EVERYTHING ELSE WAS WORKING WHEN HE SENT COMMANDS TO THE COMPUTER. I HAD TO PULL THE FUSE TO GET THE REAR WIPER TO STOP, AND NOW I CANT USE THE DOOR LOCKS. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS RELATED, BUT AT IDLE THE CAR STUTTERS LIKE IS GOING TO STALL. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR FOR FEAR I MIGHT GET STUCK IF OTHER THINGS BEGIN TO BLOW/SHORT

WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE PEDAL INADVERTENTLY TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED BOB FRENSLEY CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM FIAT AT (615) 859-0000 (2210 GALLATIN PIKE N, MADISON, TN 37115) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V009000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT NO RECALL WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING INDICATORS. THERE IS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE SEATBELT WARNING LIGHTS COME ONE BUT WE ALL HAVE THE BELTS BUCKLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000.

WHEN FILLING VEHICLE WITH FUEL, EXCESS FUEL WILL SPEW FROM THE FILLER TUBE ONTO SIDE OF VEHICLE AND GROUND CAUSING SAFETY ISSUES. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES IN THE 5+ YEARS I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE.
2010 DODGE NITRO SPILLS FUEL OUT OF FUEL INTAKE EVERY TIME YOU ATTEMPT TO FILL UP THE TANK. THIS CAUSES ABOUT 1/2 GALLON OF FUEL TO SPRAY ALL OVER THE VEHICLE AND THE OPERATOR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG IN THE HEADREST OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS HAD A DELAYED DEPLOYMENT. THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS UNOCCUPIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE REAR AND FRONT BUMPERS WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE RECEIVED A CONCUSSION AND NEEDED MEDICAL ATTENTION. MY VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS WILL NOT CUT ON. THOUGH IT IS NOT ALL THE TIME IT DOES HAPPEN A GOOD 80% OF THE TIME AND MORE NOW THAN EVER. WHEN YOU UNLOCK THE LOCK THE LIGHTS WILL FLICKER. THEN WHEN YOU GO TO CUT THE LIGHTS ON THEY WILL FLICKER ON AND OFF UNTIL THEY CUT COMPLETELY OFF AND WILL NOT COME BACK ON UNTIL EITHER THE NEXT DAY OR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. THE LIGHTS WILL NOT CUT ON IN MOTION OR AT A COMPLETE STOP. THIS IS A SERIOUS HAZARD ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE WHO GO IN AND GET OFF WORK AT NIGHT. THIS CAN CAUSE ACCIDENT AND IS DEFINITELY CONSIDERED ENDANGERMENT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC MULTIPLE TIMES WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE NUMBER TWO CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED NUMEROUS TIMES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE VALVE AND CYLINDER HEAD WERE NOT PROPERLY SEATED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT BOTH CYLINDER HEADS NEEDED TO BE REMOVED AND REBUILT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LOCK ONLY WORKS INTERMITTENTLY WITH THE AUTOMATIC KEY FOB. EVEN THOUGH YOU CAN HEAR THE LOCKING MECHANISM ACTUATE, THE HORN SOUNDS AND THERE SEEMS TO BE A SLIGHT MOVEMENT OF THE LOCK POST, IT DOESN'T PHYSICALLY LOCK THE DOOR. YOU CAN STILL PUSH THE OUTSIDE DOOR BUTTON AND THE DOOR WILL OPEN. I'VE FOUND THAT IT USUALLY TAKES 2 - 3 ATTEMPTS BEFORE IT WILL LOCK. I'VE NOTE AFTER AN ONLINE INQUIRY THAT SEVERAL OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME AND/OR A VERY SIMILAR PROBLEM AS WELL, AND IT WAS NOTED IN ONE POST THAT IT WAS FOUND TO BE A PROBLEM WITH A MODULE IN THE DOOR MECHANISM. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WARRANTING A FACTORY RECALL AND/OR REPAIR AS IT CONSTITUTES A VEHICLE BREECH THAT WOULD ALLOW A SAFETY AND/OR THEFT AVENUE. USING THE KEY TO PHYSICALLY LOCK THE DOOR EACH TIME SHOULDN'T BE THE EXPECTED RESPONSE, AS SEVERAL OTHERS NOTED IN THEIR POST THAT THIS DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK, AND THE AUTOMATIC KEY FOB SHOULD BE EXPECTED TO WORK AS IT WAS INTENDED OR IT'S POINTLESS TO HAVE EVEN PROVIDED ONE WITH THE VEHICLE. IT SHOULD BE SAID THAT THE FAULT ONLY OCCURS WITH THE VEHICLE STATIONARY AND THAT AT THIS POINT THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY LOCK AS INTENDED SHORTLY AFTER THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.

I ATTEMPTED TO START MY VEHICLE ONE AFTERNOON WHEN I TURNED THE KEY THE RADIO TURNED ON, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNED ON (BUT WERE NOT TURNED TO THE ON POSITION) BUT THE VEHICLE NEVER TURNED OVER. I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK (IT WAS). I TRIED THREE MORE TIMES TO START THE VEHICLE WITH THE SAME RESULTS. EACH TIME CHECKING THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE IN THE OFF POSITION AND AGAIN MAKING SURE THE CAR WAS IN PARK WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. VEHICLE AFTER ANOTHER ATTEMPT STARTED. THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN SINCE?? I HAVE NOTICED IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR THAT THE REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER WILL TURN ON AND OFF EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE RANDOMLY (WITHOUT MY TURNING IT ON).

AFTER LOCKING MY CAR AND LEAVING IT I COME BACK TO FIND IT UNLOCKED AND THE WINDOWS DOWN CONSTANTLY. NOW MY BRAKE LIGHTS WONT WORK ON THE SIDES BUT THE TOP BRAKE LIGHT DOES. BULBS AND FUSES ARE FINE. ALL THREE LIGHTS ARE CONNECTED BY WIRE SO THEY ALL SHOULD BE ON OR OFF TOGETHER. TODAY MY BATTERY JUST UP AND DIED. JUST WONDERED IF ITS ALL RELATED. I HAVE READ OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH WINDOWS AND DOOR LOCKS.IT HAPPENS ANYWHERE ANYTIME OVERNIGHT OR IN THE POURING RAIN WHEN IM OUT AND ABOUT.
