SOMETIMES WHEN I STOP AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD I CAN SMELL EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CABIN OF THE EDGE. NOT EVERY SINGLE TIME. BUT FAIRLY REGULAR.

FUEL TANK IS LEAKING. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE FOR VEHICLES IN BORDERING STATES. THE ISSUE IS APPARENTLY WIDESPREAD AND FORD REFUSES TO HELP. DEALER WANTS $1700 TO REPLACE THE TANK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS AND MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE NOT PROVIDED.
2007 FORD EDGE LOOSES POWER. SPEEDOMETER GOES TO 0. EXCLAMATION MARK, AIR BAG AND TOOL LIGHT COMES ON. MOTOR REVS UP TO HIGH RPM. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A SENSOR ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. AND IT IS A VERY COMMON HAPPENING WITH THIS VEHICLE. WITH THE VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN WITHOUT ANY INDICATION THAT IT IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. THIS HAPPENS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AS WELL AS IN TOWN SPEEDS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED AND ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THERE WAS A MANUFACTURERS RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000. MA 10/19/2015 *CN
UPON PICKING MY CAR UP FROM THE DEALER SHIP AFTER HAVING A REPAIR DONE FOR A RECALL MY CAR EXPERIENCED CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE DAMAGED PARTS. NOTE THAT THE DEALER SHIP RETAINED MY CAR FOR ABOUT EIGHT MONTHS. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY TO SEE IF THEY CAN HELP.
MY DOOR SENSOR HAS BEEN STAYING ON FOR A MONTH NOW WHICH I FIGURED OUT TO BE MY DRIVERS DOOR. READING UP ON THE FORD EDGE FORUM ONLINE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM. NEWER MODELS ARE ALSO HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WHAT THEN HAPPENS IS THE INSIDE LIGHTS ALSO STAY ON ALTHOUGH THEY GO OUT AFTER 5-10 MINUTES. MY DOOR ALSO DOESN'T OPEN WITH A KEY EVEN THOUGH MY FOB STILL WORKS. FORD WILL FIX THIS FOR ANYWHERE FROM $350-$450 DOLLARS WHICH SEEMS LIKE A LOT FOR A SENSOR. I'VE HAD CARS WITH DOOR AJAR ICONS BEFORE BUT NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEM STAYING ON FOR NO REASON. I'M 58 YEARS OLD AND LOST MY JOB TO RELOCATION OUT OF THE COUNTRY ( I'M A DISLOCATED WORKER) AND HAD TO FIND ANOTHER JOB WHICH DOES NOT PAY MUCH. IT WOULD COST ME A WEEKS WAGES TO FIX THIS AND THAT IS WAY TOO MUCH. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME
WHILE DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN I PRESSED THE BREAK TO STOP IN TRAFFIC AND ALMOST RAN INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE MY BRAKES BECAME VERY HARD AND I HAD TO PRESS THEM DOWN TO THE GROUND PRACTICALLY TO STOP. TOOK VEHICLE TO A LOCAL SHOP AND WAS TOLD MY BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WAS TOLD THERE HAVE BEEN ISSUES LIKE THIS WITH FORD MODELS IN THE PAST. AFTER BASIC INTERNET RESEARCH FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR NEWER MODELS BUT NOT MY MODEL. CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY DIRECTLY AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME BECAUSE THERE ISN'T A RECALL ON MY YEAR, MAKE, MODEL EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER 2007 FORD EDGES NOT ONCE, BUT EVEN AFTER HAVING BOOSTER REPLACED. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT FORD IS NOT WILLING TO STEP UP AND MAKE RECALL FOR 2007 FORD EDGES WHEN IT IS CLEAR THERE ARE MULTIPLE PEOPLE ALL OVER THE COUNTRY THAT HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY THIS. A FEW WEEKS AGO, I NOTICED THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM SOMEWHERE THAT SOUNDED LIKE A WHEEL BEARING, I TOOK IT TO A FEW PLACES TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. THEY CAME UP WITH DIFFERENT THINGS, FINALLY I GOT TO THE RIGHT PLACE AND THEY FIGURED OUT THAT IT WAS THE PTU. THEY SAID THE SEAL HAD LEAKED ALL THE OIL OUT AND DESTROYED THE BEARINGS. YOU DON'T KNOW THE OIL IS LEAKING OUT AS IT GOES INTO THE EXHAUST AND EVAPORATES. THEY WERE ABLE TO FIND ME A USED ONE THAT THEY WENT THROUGH AND FOUND IT TO BE GOOD. COST WAS $1,800 TO REPLACE. AS I UNDERSTAND, FORD HAS COVERED UP THIS PROBLEM FOR MANY YEARS. I HAVE SEEN MANY SIMILAR PROBLEMS IN THE COMPLAINT SECTION FOR EDGES AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. I THINK FORD SHOULD BE MADE TO RE-IMBURST ALL COMPLAINTS WITH THIS PROBLEM. I AM ON A FIXED INCOME AN THIS UNEXPECTED EXPENSE KEPT US FROM OUR VACATION TO VISIT OUR FAMILY IN PENNSYLVANIA AND I AM VERY UPSET.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN INCREASE IN TEMPERATURE DISPLAYED ON THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE AS WELL AS SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND STATED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND FAN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED ON AN INCLINE, IF YOU LET OFF THE BRAKES THE CAR WILL ROLL BACKWARDS AND WHEN YOU GIVE IT GAS THE TRANSMISSION JERKS REAL LOUD INTO GEAR.
FUEL TANK IS LEAKING CONSISTENT WITH PREVIOUSLY REPORTED PROBLEMS AND ALREADY ISSUED RECALLS ON THIS MODEL. RECALL NUMBER 14S22. FORD ADVISES THAT THIS VEHICLE ID NUMBER IS NOT COVERED IN SPITE OF THE ISSUE BEING IDENTICAL TO THE ISSUE COVERED BY RECALL 14S22.

HIGHWAY SPEED THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN. SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO ZERO, INFORMATION PANEL WENT BLANK, POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION/REDUCED POWER LIGHT CAME ON, AIRBAG FRONT LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED CAR TO SHOULDER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND SHUT KEY OFF. RESTARTED CAR AND EVERYTHING APPEARED NORMAL EXCEPT CAR HAD VERY LITTLE POWER TO MOVE UNTIL ABOUT 10 MPH WAS REACHED WHEN A HARD TRANSMISSION SHIFT PUT CAR INTO GEAR AND ALL BECAME FULLY OPERATIONAL. THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN A ONE WEEK PERIOD OF TIME, ALWAYS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. SUBSEQUENT RESEARCH BY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INDICATED THIS A COMMON PROBLEM REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF TWO SPEED SENSORS IN TRANSMISSION AT COST OF $629.00.

THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL NOISE FROM THE TRANSMISSION WHEN SWITCHING GEARS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE INOPERABLE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS BEING DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 111,000.
WE TOOK IN FOR THE RECALL ON APRIL 3 2015 . THEY US THAT ITS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. BUT THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX'S ITS. THEY BUT US IN A RENTAL WE ARE STILL IN THE RENTAL BECAUSE THE PARTS ARE IN YET BUT IM MAD BECAUSE IT STILL ON THE LOTS GETTING SUN DAMAGE AND MY INSPECTION RUN OUTS
I WAS EXPERIENCING PROBLEM WITH HARD BRAKE PEDAL SO I CHECKED TO SEE IF BRAKES NEEDED BLEEDING. AFTER DETERMINING THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM I INITIALLY REPLACED FRONT ROTORS AND PADS. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AFTER WHICH I REPLACED REAR ROTORS AND PADS WITH NO OR LITTLE IMPROVEMENT. I ALSO WAS CONCERNED THAT WHEN MY BRAKES WERE APPLIED SUDDENLY NOT ONLY WAS THE VEHICLE SLOW IN STOPPING(TOOK LONGER THAN USUAL STOPPING DISTANCE) BUT DID NOT FEEL ABS ACCENTUATE. A FRIEND AND FORMER FORD MECHANIC SUGGESTED IT MAY BE MY BRAKE BOOSTER. SO I REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND PEDAL SEEMED TOO SOFT BUT CAR STOOPED BETTER AND SHORTER, BUT WITHOUT APPLYING HARD AND SUDDEN BRAKE PRESSURE ABS SEEMS TO PREMATURELY ACTIVATE. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME TO CHECK FOR POSSIBLE RECALL OR PROBLEMS WITH CHECK VALVE/ABS. UPON CHECKING FOUND IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS FOR SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE, WHICH CUSTOMER SAYS FORD EVENTUALLY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM BUT CALLED IT "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N02 INSTEAD OF RECALL. THE CAR WAS A 2007 FORD SEL PLUS ,MY CAR IS 2007 FORD SEL. I CONTACTED FORD TODAY(11/24/2015) CONCERNING A RECALL ON FUEL TANK FOR MY VIN AND TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. THEY SAID THOUGH THEY FIXED OTHER VEHICLE MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. MY CONCERNED IS THAT ,THOUGH IT MAY BE COINCIDENTAL BUT STRANGE I HAVE SAME PROBLEM WITH SAME MAKE MODEL AND YEAR. THEY ISSUED ME A CASE # CAS-8279603. MY CONCERN ALSO IS THAT NOT ONLY I MAY HAVE A SAFETY ISSUE ENDANGERING MYSELF BUT ALSO OTHERS. PLUS THERE MAY HAVE BEEN OTHERS WITH SIMILAR IF NOT SAME PROBLEM AND REPAIRED IT THEMSELVES RATHER THAN INVESTIGATE ISSUE. THE MECHANIC ALSO STATED IT MAY ALSO BE NECESSARY TO CHECK OR REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER. SO AS OF NOW I'M DRIVING LESS AND ONLY SHORT DISTANCES UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY . THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN ON GOING FOR ABOUT 6 MOS. TIL I REPLACED BOOSTER ON ON 15TH OR 16TH OF NOV 2015.

THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHUTTER AND VIBRATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY PCM, WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE COIL PACKS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
LET ME FIRST START OF BY SAYING THAT I GET MY CAR SERVICED ON TIME, EVERY TIME. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY BEGAN SHAKING BADLY. NOTICED THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER RIGHT AWAY AND LOOKED IT UP IN THE OWNER MANUAL. BASED ON THE INFO, I CALLED TO SCHEDULE TO TAKE MY CAR IN THE NEXT MORNING. I PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND EXITED THE HIGHWAY. I DROVE LOCAL SO I COULD KEEP MY SPEED TO 20 MILES. THEN WHEN 4 MINUTES FROM HOME, WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT, THE CAR WENT DEAD. I TRIED TO START IT, BUT NOTHING. WHEN I NOTICE A BURNING TYPE OF SMELL I STOPPED AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT ALL 6 COILS HAD MELTED ONTO THE MAIN PC OF THE CAR. HE FOUND IT EXTREMELY ODD THAT ALL 6 BURNED AT THE SAME TIME. HE SAID IT'S USUALLY 1, 2 OR 3, BUT NEVER HEARD OF ALL 6. *TR

IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S THE OUTER SEAL LEAKING FROM THE PTU THE SIDE THAT THE CV AXLE IS ON CONNECTED TO PASSENGER TIRE. I CALLED FORD AND THEY WANT 1200-1500 DOLLARS TO FIX A SEAL THAT'S NOT RECALLED. ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO MY 2007 FORD EDGE BEGAN TO LEAK A FLUID WHICH I THOUGHT MAY HAVE BEEN TRANSMISSION FLUID. ONCE I NOTICED THE LEAK I STOP DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I TOOK IT INTO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER (WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE) AND I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO HAVE THE TRANSFER CASE REPLACED. THIS IS VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR SO I DECIDED TO SEE IF THIS ISSUE HAD OCCURRED IN OTHER 2007 FORD EDGES. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE VERY PREVALENT BUT FORD HAS DECIDED TO LEVY THIS EXPENSE TO THE CUSTOMER RATHER THAN ADMIT THERE IS A REAL ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE'S DRIVETRAIN. ON OR AROUND 11/29/2014 I WAS DRIVING MY FAMILY IN OUR 2007 FORD EDGE ON THE FREEWAY, TRAVELING APPROX. 70 MPH, WHEN THE SYSTEM DISPLAY READ SOMETHING REFERRING TO O/D TRANSMISSION MESSAGE OF SOME SORT. I LOST DRIVE TRAIN POWER AND COASTED TO AN EXIT RAMP WHILE THE VEHICLE STRUGGLE TO MAINTAIN DRIVE. A SHORT TIME LATER I WAS ABLE TO PARK IN A PARKING LOT, AND WHEN I SHIFTED THE LEVER INTO PARK IT PASSED BY REVERSE AND SHIFTED VIOLENTLY. I TRIED TO SHIFT TO DRIVE WITH THE SAME RESULT. I CONTACTED AVIS FORD WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED, AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEIR SERVICE CENTER WAS BACKED UP ON TRANSMISSION REPAIRS FOR A RECALL TILL FEBRUARY 2015! I FOUND ATRANSMISSION SHOP WHO, RAN A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK, AND DROVE MY VEHICLE WITH ME IN IT, AND SAID THERE WASN'T ANYTHING HE COULD SEE. I CALLED MY SALESMAN, HE TRIED TO SEE WHAT HE COULD DO. HE LATER INFORMED ME IF I COULD SOMEHOW GET THE VEHICLE HOME, TO UNHOOK THE BATTERY, WAIT FOR AN HOUR, AND HOOK IT BACK UP THAT THIS WOULD RESET THE PCM MODULE, AND MAYBE CORRECT THE ISSUE. IT APPEARED TO REMEDY THE SYMPTOM, UNTIL TODAY WHEN MY WIFE ARRIVED AT HER OFFICE, AND AS SHE WAS PULLING IN TO PARK THE SAME MESSAGE APPEARED, WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS. UNFORTUNATELY THIS IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE, AND I'LL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE WHAT TO DO NEXT. I HAVE CONTACTED MY DEALER. I WAS PULLED OVER FOR HAVING A BURNT OUT TAIL LIGHT. (NO TICKET ISSUED) WHEN I GOT TO WORK I CHANGED THE BULB AND DISCOVERED THAT THE BULB WAS NOT BURNT OUT BUT HAD MELTED THE SOCKET ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I REALIZED THAT BOTH TAIL LIGHTS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE BULBS HAD ALSO BEEN MELTING THE INTERIOR RED PART OF THE TAIL LIGHT. THERE IS NOW AN AREA OF THE LIGHTS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR THAT HAVE WHITE LIGHT SHINING THROUGH THE LENS INSTEAD OF RED. THE DESIGN OF THE LIGHT HAS THE BULB TOO CLOSE TO THE LENS AND THERE ISN'T ENOUGH ROOM TO DISSIPATE HEAT FROM THE BULB CAUSING THE LENS TO MELT AND THE SOCKET TO MELT. I HAVE BEEN ON THE FORD EDGE FORUM AND THERE SEEM TO BE AN ALARMING NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY FORD. *TR
