THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF. THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR REMAINS ON EVEN THOUGH THE DOORS HAVE BEEN FIRMLY CLOSED CAUSING THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON. AT FIRST I WAS ABLE TO SLAM THE DOOR SHUT UNTIL IT WOULD TRIGGER THE LIGHTS TO TURN OFF. THEN, I HAD TO USE WD-40 AND AFTER 3 DAYS OF DOING THIS EVERY TIME I ENTERED OR EXITED THE VEHICLE, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD REMAIN ON. MOST RECENTLY, MY CAR BATTERY DIED BECAUSE OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS NEVER TURNING OFF. I SLAMMED MY DOOR SHUT FOR OVER AN HOUR TRYING TO GET THE LIGHTS TO TURN OFF AND NOTHING WORKED. MY BATTERY HAS DIED 3 TIMES NOW DUE TO THE INTERIOR LIGHTS NOT SHUTTING OFF EVEN THOUGH ALL THE DOORS WERE FIRMLY SHUT. ONCE WAS AT WORK, I DIDN'T HAVE THE TIME TO KEEP SLAMMING MY DOOR FOR IT TO TURN OFF. FINALLY I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD ME IT WOULD COST APPROX. $400 TO FIX THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND THE FORD EDGES ARE KNOWN TO HAVE THIS DEFECT. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM AND AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM ONLINE IT APPEARS TO HAPPEN QUITE FREQUENTLY WITH THIS VEHICLE. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND NOT AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE! *TR
WAS DRIVING AT 45 MPH WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY OVERHEATED AND IN A MATTER OF SECONDS IT CRACKED THE BLOCK. THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS TOWED TO COULDN'T EVEN TELL ME HOW SOMETHING LIKE THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED. THIS CAR HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF. NEEDLESS TO SAY...I HAD TO BUY A WHOLE NEW ENGINE FOR IT. I DON'T THINK THIS WAS ANYTHING THAT I DID THAT MADE THIS HAPPEN. HONESTLY I THINK IT IS SOMETHING FORD SHOULD REALLY LOOK AT IF THE SERVICE MECHANICS AT A FORD DEALERSHIP CAN'T EVEN TELL ME HOW IT HAPPENED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, SHE ATTEMPTED TO DECELERATE BUT THE PEDAL FAILED TO ENGAGE. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
PTU UNIT DEVELOPED A LEAK, WAS NEARLY EMPTY OF OIL BY THE TIME THE DEALER COULD REPAIR. DEALER SAYS PTU NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR ~$1600. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE REPAIRED UNDER RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT STRONG FUEL FUMES EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WAS ALSO A LEAK UNDER THE VEHICLE NEAR THE FRONT END. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAL FAILED ON THE FUEL TANK AND THAT THE SEAL AND THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V682000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DROVE TO PANAMA CITY, FL. FOR VACATION AND PARKED IN APT. GARAGE. WENT TO MY BROTHERS APT. AND WITHIN AN HOUR, THE PARKING ATTENDANT KNOCKED ON THE DOOR AND SAID THAT OUR CAR HAD THE FOG LAMPS ON. TRIED TO TURN THEM OFF AND COULDN'T. HAD TO REMOVE THE FUSE. HAD IT CHECKED OUT AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND TO CAUSE THIS PROBLEM. FUSE IS STILL REMOVED AND CANNOT USE THE FOG LIGHTS. SINCE THIS INCIDENT, THE TURN SIGNALS FLASH EXTREMELY FAST.PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT CAN BE DONE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM.THANKS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXTREME PRESSURE HAD TO BE APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO RESPOND. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT AN ABNORMAL NOISE WHEN IN REVERSE OR CHANGING GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97000.
I WOKE UP TO MY HOUSE SMELLING OF GAS, AFTER TAKING IT TO A SHOP, I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE TOP OF THE TANK. IT TOOK 3 DAYS TO GET IT BACK, WHEN I PICKED IT UP, I WAS TOLD TO FILL IT UP WITH GAS, THEN IT WAS LEAKING GAS REAL BAD, STEADY DRIP. I TOOK IT RIGHT BACK TO THE SHOP WHERE THEY KEPT OVER THE WEEKEND, SAID IT WAS RUSTED VERY BAD, IT HAS A COUPLE RUST SPOTS THAT GAVE WAY WHEN I PUT GAS IN IT. SAID IT NEEDS A NEW TANK, AND FOR SUCH A NEW CAR, IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS BAD. *TR
SINCE FEB 2014, MY 2007 FORD EDGE SEEMED TO BE WANTING TO STALL WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND/OR TRYING TO ACCELERATE. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT AS IT WASN'T A 24/7 ISSUE BUT IT DID HAPPEN REGULARLY. YESTERDAY EVERYTHING CHANGED. I WENT TO TURN MY CAR ON YESTERDAY AND IT DIDN'T TURN ON RIGHT AWAY. IT WAS "TRYING" TO START AND THEN IT WOULD SHUT DOWN. I WOULD TRY TO START IT AGAIN AND ONCE AGAIN, IT WAS "TRYING" TO START AND EVENTUALLY DID. I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT I WASN'T ABLE TO ACCELERATE AND I WAS GOING SLOWER AND SLOWER SO I MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO THE BREAK DOWN LANE AND THEN THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF. ONCE AGAIN, IT DIDN'T TURN ON THE FIRST TIME I TRIED BUT THEN IT DID THE SECOND TIME BUT RELUCTANTLY. THE LIGHTS WERE DIM ON MY DASHBOARD WHICH HADN'T HAPPENED BEFORE. I MANAGED TO GET HOME VERY SLOWLY. I SHUT MY CAR OFF AT HOME AND TRIED TO TURN IT ON AND AGAIN IT WAS STRUGGLING TO TURN ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER TODAY AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE SERVICE TECH WENT ON TO EXPLAIN THAT HE HAS SEEN THIS ISSUE ESPECIALLY IN THE YEAR AND MODEL THAT I HAVE. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS ISSUE ONLINE AND SEE THAT THE NHTSA HAD BEEN LOOKING INTO THIS SAME ISSUE/COMPLAINTS BUT WITH A LATER YEAR AS WELL AS WELL AS OTHER MODELS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS WASN'T A RECALL AS THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DANGEROUS SCENARIO. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS OCCURRED AND THANKFULLY NOT WITH MY CHILDREN. I SEE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I NEED TO PAY TO GET THIS FIXED BUT I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE COMING OUT OF FORD'S POCKET AS IT SEEMS LIKE IT WAS A DEFECTIVE PART. WE NOTICED AN OIL LIKE SUBSTANCE LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE FRONT END OF THE CAR. WE TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD US IT WAS THE TRANSFER CASE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOT ONLY IS IT A $1500 REPAIR BUT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM HAPPENING TO FORD EDGE'S YEARS 2007 - 2011. SOUNDS TO ME LIKE A RECALL SHOULD BE MADE ON THIS PART. WE CAUGHT OURS EARLY, SO NOT SURE WHAT COULD'VE HAPPENED IF WE CONTINUED TO DRIVE OURS AROUND. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON 95 NORTH IN S. CAROLINA WHEN MY CAR JERKED AND EVERYONE LURCHED FORWARD IN THE VEHICLE AS IF WE HAD TRAVELED OVER A SPEED BUMP OR SOMETHING LARGE IN THE ROAD. IT WAS MID DAY AND NOTHING WAS IN THE ROAD. WE CONTINUED TRAVELING AND ABOUT 30 MILES IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND WE REALIZED IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO MAKE IT HOME AND TOOK IT TO OUR MECHANIC. HE SAW NO VISUAL SIGNS OF TROUBLE SUCH AS LEAKAGE, WARNING LIGHTS OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS EVEN DURING THE TEST DRIVE SO HE DID AN INTERNET SEARCH AND FOUND THAT FORD SUGGEST RUNNING TRANSMISSION FLUID THROUGH, DRAINING AND REPEATING. HE DID THIS. WE HAD TO TRAVEL OUT OF STATE AGAIN THE NEXT MONTH AND THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY. I'M SO CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY AND I'M NOW READING ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS NOT JUST A RANDOM ISSUE AND PEOPLE ARE PLEADING FOR A SAFETY RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED DUE TO THE MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION ISSUES THAT ARE AFFECTING SO MANY OF THESE VEHICLES. WE NEED HELP, WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO TAKE? *TR
AFTER 3 DIFFERENT SEAL REPAIRS AND PTU REPLACEMENT(20K) DURING WARRANTY PERIOD, CURRENT PTU IS WHINING / HOWLING BETWEEN 30-50 MPH. DEALER SAY FLUID HAS BEEN LEAKING SLOWLY AND PTU FULL OF SLUDGE. NO EVIDENCE OF LEAKAGE ON GARAGE FLOOR BUT UNDER CARRIAGE IN PTU AREA IS GUMMED UP FROM FLUID MIXING WITH DIRT. BASED ON MILEAGE FROM REPAIR RECEIPTS, TOOK APPROX. 67K MILES FOR THIS PTU TO GO BAD. NO ADJUSTMENT PROGRAMS AT THIS TIME FOR PTU'S AS PER PHONE CALL WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED REPEATEDLY WITH A DELAYED RESPONSE. THE MALFUNCTIONED RECURRED WHENEVER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER CYLINDER WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
DISCOVERED THAT REAR TAIL LIGHT HOUSING HAS BECOME SO HOT THAT IT HAS MELTED THE BULBS IN THE SOCKET. THE SOCKETS THEMSELVES ARE BLACK IN APPEARANCE, AND THERE HAVE BEEN NO WARNINGS OR ERROR CODES TO INDICATE THERE IS A PROBLEM. *TR

TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR RESOLUTION OF THIS RECALL FOR TWO YEARS NOW. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO SCHEDULE AIR BAG REPLACEMENT AND HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE ARE "NO PARTS AVAILABLE" TO COMPLETE THE WORK. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. *JS

2007 FORD EDGE HAS A GAS TANK LEAK PROBLEM. NOTICE A STRONG GAS SMELL AROUND VEHICLE AND TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER. MECHANIC FOUNDED GAS LEAKING FROM THE GAS TANK (UNSAFE TO DRIVE, POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD). *TR
STRONG GAS SMELL WHEN FUEL TANK IS FILLED ABOVE 3/4 MARK. MECHANIC INVESTIGATION INDICATES THAT THE FUEL TANK HAS HOLES ON THE TOP SIDE OF THE TANK, AND SAYS THAT THE TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BEFORE IT BEGINS TO LEAK. I WAS QUOTED $1540 FOR PARTS, AND $505 LABOR ($2045) TO REPLACE THE TANK. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. WHY DOES THE FUEL TANK ON A 6 YEAR OLD VEHICLE DETERIORATE ON THE TOP? *TR
THE SMELL OF GASOLINE PROMPTED ME TO BRING MY FORD EDGE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK RUSTED OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I QUESTIONED THIS AS I HAVE OWNED FORD VEHICLES FOR TEN PLUS YEARS APIECE AND NEVER HAD THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT ABNORMAL. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE I HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE A FREQUENT OCCURRENCE IN THE FORD EDGE VEHICLE. NOW, I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THIS CAR HOME DUE TO A FIRE HAZARD AND HAD TO RENT A VEHICLE RIGHT THEN AND THERE. FROM THE NUMBER OF ONLINE COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ, I BELIEVE THE FORD EDGE NEEDS TO BE DEEMED UNSAFE DUE TO THE FUEL TANK LEAKING PROBLEM. FORD NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE PUTTING THEIR CUSTOMERS' LIVES IN DANGER BY NOT RECALLING AND CORRECTING THE FUEL TANKS IN THESE VEHICLES WHICH ARE OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT THE ENVIRONMENTAL CONSEQUENCES OF LEAKING FUEL IS A DANGER TO EVERYONE. IT IS NECESSARY TO ALSO MENTION THAT MY VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO ME AS CERTIFIED PRE OWNED ONLY 3 YEARS AGO WITH THE MILEAGE AT 32,579. HOW ARE THEY PRECERTIFYING ? WITH COVER UPS???? SO, IN ESSENCE THE FACT THAT THEY PRECERTIFIED 3 YEARS AGO MEANS THIS PROBLEM EITHER OCCURRED WITHIN 3 YEARS OR THE PRECERTIFICATION WAS BOGUS, EITHER OF WHICH IS UNACCEPTABLE. ALSO, THEIR WARRANTY WHICH COMES WITH THE PRECERT STATES FEB. 2013 OR 100,00 MILES. THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE 100,00 MILES AS THEY SAY IT IS ONLY IF THE 100,00 MILES OCCURS BEFORE THE EXPIRATION DATE. IF THAT WERE TRULY THE CASE, THE WORDING SHOULD SAY "WHICH EVER COMES FIRST." CHECK OUT THE FORD MANUAL TO VERIFY THIS INFO. THEY ARE MISLEADING AND DECEPTIVE IN THEIR WARRANTY DEFINITION AS WELL AS THEIR VEHICLES. I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED A FORD - NEVER HAD A FUEL TANK PROBLEM, LOVED THE VEHICLES, BUT WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER ONE. THEY ARE SHADY AT BEST. *TR

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUTTERED AND THERE WAS A LOSS OF ACCELERATION POWER. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE 6 IGNITION COILS, SPARK PLUGS AND THE PCM SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 97395. *TR
LEAKED FLUID OVERHEATED TRANSFER CASE. NO WARNING OTHER THAN VERY SMALL DRIP. EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER DAMAGES. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 60 MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY, I LOST ALL POWER TO MY EDGE. THE SPEEDOMETER WENT TO 0, MILEAGE BLANKED OUT, AND I HAD THE AIR BAG, WRENCH & LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHTS CAME ON. WHEN YOU WOULD GO FROM PARK TO REVERSE OR FROM PARK TO DRIVE, THERE WOULD BE A BIG CLUNKING NOISE AND NO ACCELERATION. WHEN THIS FIRST HAPPENED YOU COULD TURN THE CAR OFF AND IT WOULD RESET AFTER A FEW MINUTES. NOW YOU HAVE TO UNHOOKED THE BATTERY CABLES AND REPLACE THEM, BUT THIS ONLY LASTS FOR A WHILE. IT IS NOT A FIX. THIS IS STILL HAPPENING TO THIS DAY. NO ONE WE HAVE CONTACTED CAN TELL US THE PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS 2007 FORD EDGE NEW AND IT HAS BEEN KEPT IN A GARAGE THE ENTIRE TIME I HAVE OWNED IT. I NOTICED A SMELL OF GASOLINE WHILE IT WAS IN THE GARAGE AND TOOK IT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. AFTER CONTINUALLY SMELLING GAS WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE I DISCOVERED A GAS LEAK IN THE FUEL TANK. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC AND HE VERIFIED THE FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING DUE TO RUSTING OF THE TANK. THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME OF THE PRICE OF A NEW TANK AND IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE. A PERSON AT MY LOCAL FORD DEALER INFORMED ME THAT HE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS EDGE. ALSO, I FOUND A USED FUEL TANK IN SEARCH FOR A REPLACEMENT, AND FOUND IT HAS THE SAME RUSTING PROBLEMS. TOOK CAR IN TO CHECK BRAKES 10/29/13 TECH SAYS HE COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. DROVE 45 MILES BACK HOME AND NO BRAKES. DROVE BACK VERY SLOWLY TYHE SAME DAY. TECH SAYS "OH YOU NEED A NEW MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER". COSTS $873. ON JULY 3RD THE BRAKES FAILIED AGAIN. ALMOST RAN INTO A HOUSE WITH NO BRAKES. HAD THE CAR TWOWED. THEY SEEM TO CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM CAR HAS BEEN WITH AUTO NATION FORD UNION CITY, GA 3 DAYS NOW WITH NO END IN SITE. WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE MASTER CYLINDERS. I COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT A RECALL MAY HAVE BEEN ACTIVE WHEN I PAID FOR THE REPAIR AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP IN OCTOBER 2013. *JS

AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 80 MILES ONE SATURDAY MORNING, MY WIFE PARKED IN THE GARAGE AS USUAL. I ENTERED THE GARAGE AFTER THE CAR SAT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND DETECTED THE SMELL OF GASOLINE. PROCEEDED TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE SMELL WAS COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I CONTINUED TO INVESTIGATE THE SOURCE AND EVENTUALLY FOUND WHAT APPEARED TO BE FUEL SEEPING FROM THE FUEL RAIL, ALSO KNOWN AS THE FUEL SUPPLY MANIFOLD. I CONCLUDED THAT THE FUEL WAS LEAKING IN THE AREA OF THE TEST PORT WHICH IS CONNECTED TO THE RAIL. I COULD TELL THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING AT THE POINT WHERE THE TEST PORT IS CONNECTED TO THE RAIL. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A FORD DEALER, AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL RAIL PORT WAS NOT REPAIRABLE AND A NEW FUEL RAIL WAS REQUIRED. THIS WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AS GASOLINE COULD HAVE LEAKED OUT ONTO VERY HOT ENGINE PARTS AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE A FIRE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL RATTLED AND SANK DOWN TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT HEARD A WHISTLING SOUND AND HAD TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I NOTICED MY THERMOSTAT CLIMBING ABOUT TO OVER HEAT. I PULL OF AT THE NEAREST EXIT AND STOP AT AN OIL CHANGE SERVICE STATION. THE MECHANIC SAY I HAD NO ANTIFREEZE IN THE CAR. HE REFILLS THE ANTIFREEZE AND I WAS ON MY WAY. 20 MINS INTO MY DRIVE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND THE THERMOSTAT LOOKS FINE, BUT THE CAR STARTED SPUTTERING AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY AREA OF NYC. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND AFTER THEIR DIAGNOSTIC TEST THEY SAID THE ENGINE HEAD IS CRACKED OR WARPED AND THEY FOUND ANTIFREEZE MIXED IN OIL AND RADIATOR AND WILL COST $2500 TO FIX! WTF!! IS THIS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN?? I TOOK GREAT CARE OF THIS VEHICLE AND I FEEL LIKE A SUCKER! NOW I CAN'T GET TO WORK, CAN'T GET MY KIDS TO OR FROM SCHOOL AND I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT! *TR

PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT BULB BLACKENED AND SOCKET PARTIALLY MELTED. REPLACED WITH 4157LL BULB AS RECOMMENDED BUT STILL WON'T WORK. I THINK MAYBE BULB HAS GOTTEN TOO HOT AND NOW SOCKET DEFECTIVE. *TR
FOR A FEW WEEKS THERE WAS A STRONG GAS SMELL ALL AROUND THE FORD EDGE. BROUGHT IT IN TO BE LOOKED AT. THEY WERE STUMPED, THE GAS TANK WAS NOT LEAKING, THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO IT NOR ANY RUST OF ANY KIND YET THEY ALSO COULD SMELL THE GAS. AFTER TIME, THEY FOUND THAT GAS WAS SEEPING THROUGH THE SEAMS OF THE TANK. CALLED MULTIPLE FORD DEALERSHIPS AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE BEEN SEEING QUITE A BIT OF THIS ON EDGES AND HAVE REPAIRED 4 WITHIN THE PAST MONTH IN OUR AREA. THEY INFORMED US HOW EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IT WAS TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE CAR, IF WE WERE IN AN ACCIDENT OR IF ANYONE THREW A LIT CIGARETTE, THE CAR COULD EXPLODE. VERY UNSAFE. WE CALLED FORD BECAUSE WE SAW MANY RECALLS ON NEWER MODELS FOR THE SAME THING. THEY DENIED THE CLAIM FOR THE 07 MODEL. WE GOT IT REPAIRED FOR $1700 AT A FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY ARE NOT OFFERING A REIMBURSEMENT FOR A MALFUNCTIONING PART AND A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR

STARTED SMELLING GAS SOMETIME IN AUGUST OR SEPTEMBER. TOOK IT TO GET INSPECTED RECENTLY AND TECHNICIAN SMELLED GAS AND CHECK IT OUT. FUEL TANK IS LEAKING. SEEMS TO BE SOME TYPE OF CORROSION ON THE TOP. POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS. GOING TO COST NEARLY $2000 TO REPLACE TANK. SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE ON THE WEB. FUEL TANK HAS A HOLE RIGHT ABOVE THE HALF WAY MARK. FUMES ARE SO STRONG - IT GIVES ME HEADACHES AND LEAKS ALL OVER THE GROUND. *TR
WE STARTED UP OUR CAR ON A SUNDAY MORNING, PUT IT IN REVERSE, BACKED OUT OF OUR SPOT, AND THEN PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE. RIGHT AWAY, WE NOTICED THE CAR SHAKING, NOT MUCH POWER, AND IT WAS SPUTTERING ALONG. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING AS WELL, INDICATING ENGINE MISFIRE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THE FORD DEALERSHIP RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND DETERMINED THAT THE PCU HAD OVERHEATED AND THE CYLINDER COILS MELTED. THEY ALSO SAID THE PCU IS NO LONGER OPERABLE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, ALONG WITH THE COILS AND PLUGS. GENERALLY, ENGINE MISFIRE INDICATES A TUNE-UP IS NEEDED; HOWEVER, IN THIS CASE, THE CAR NEEDS A BRAND-NEW COMPUTER. THE DEALERSHIP QUOTED US AT 2,700 TOTAL FOR THE REPAIR. FURTHERMORE, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CAR, AS DETERMINED BY FORD, AS IT ISSUED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 13-4-7, CITING THIS MODEL AND SEVERAL OTHERS AS PRONE TO THIS MALFUNCTION. FORD SHOULD RECALL THIS MODEL AND HAVE THE ISSUE FIXED. NO RECALLS EVEN THOUGH THIS POSES A FIRE HAZARD? SHOCKING. *JB
A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE WAS DETECTED AROUND THE VEHICLE. MECHANIC INVESTIGATED. GAS TANK HAD RUSTED THROUGH. GASOLINE WAS LEAKING. ACCORDING TO DIFFERENT BLOGS, THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD WITH 2007 FORD EDGE. REPLACEMENT OF TANK IS OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE. FORD DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL NOR A BULLETIN ON THE PROBLEM AND GIVE NOT MORE THAN AN APOLOGY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. *TR
AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES AT AN AVERAGE SPEED OF 45 MPH I EXITED OFF A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY (EXIT 1, RTE. 93N IN NEW HAMPSHIRE). UPON SLOWING, I FELT A SKIP AND THE CAR BECAME UNRESPONSIVE TO MY ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE TO COMPLETE THE EXIT . AN ODOMETER ERROR APPEARED ON MY DASH ALONG WITH THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT AND THE REPAIR WRENCH SYMBOL. IF I HAD BEEN TRAVELING ON THE OPEN HIGHWAY IN THE KIND OF TRAFFIC I WAS EXPERIENCING, I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A HIGH SPEED ACCIDENT. AFTER SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINE FOR 30 MINUTES, I RESTARTED MY VEHICLE AND RETURNED HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. TO DATE MY EDGE HAS BEEN VERY RELIABLE. I HAVE ENJOYED THE EDGE'S PERFORMANCE; BUT, I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED TO NUMEROUS OTHER EDGE OWNERS. I AM HOPING THIS APPARENT DEFECT IS RESOLVED AND A RECALL IS INITIATED BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. *TR

ON SATURDAY AUGUST 17,2013 I WAS GETTING MY BASKETBALL TEAM SUPPLIES FROM THE BACK OF MY CAR, MY DAUGHTER WAS HELPING ME. I WAS NOT LEANING EXTREMELY CLOSE TO THE VEHICLE JUST STANDING NORMALLY AND THE EXHAUST PIPE BURNED MY LEG. THE BURN IS EXTREMELY BAD, SHORTLY AFTER MY DAUGHTER WENT TO GRAB THE REST OF THE STUFF FROM THE BACK OF MY CAR AND SHE BURNED HER LEG AS WELL. LAST MONTH MY FRIEND WAS HELPING ME REMOVE GROCERIES FROM THE BACK OF MY CAR AND SHE ALSO GOT HER LEG BURNED ON THE EXHAUST PIPE. MY CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVE WAY FOR ALL THREE INCIDENTS. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED FOR MY CHILDREN. I ALSO WILL HAVE AN EXTREMELY BAD SCAR ON MY LEG FOR EVER DUE TO THE BURN. *TR

I WAS DRIVING ALONG AND ATTEMPTED TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT. MY BRAKES SUDDENLY BECAME EXTREMELY RESISTANT TO MY FOOT PRESSURE AND A HIGH PITCHED SQUEALING NOISE ACCOMPANIED THE SITUATION. I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP IMMEDIATELY BUT MANAGED TO ESCAPE A COLLISION WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I DROVE MY VEHICLE, CAUTIOUSLY, TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM (BRAKE BOOSTER) IMMEDIATELY. HE STATED HE HAD TWO 2007 FORD EDGE VEHICLES IN THE SHOP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM (BAD BRAKE BOOSTER). THE INTERNET IS FLOODED WITH THIS ISSUE IN THE FORD EDGE. I AND MANY OTHERS HAVE BEEN EFFECTED FINANCIALLY AND EMOTIONALLY. A RECALL ON THE BREAK BOOSTER IS NECESSARY TO PREVENT FURTHER INJURY AND FINANCIAL LOSS TO FORD CUSTOMERS. *TR
