THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOWED TO MECHANIC. ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSTICS CODES P0351, P0352, P0354, P0301, P0302, P0316, P0420 BANK CATALYST BELOW THRESHOLD. PERFORMED PIN POINT TEST ON ALL COILS, FUEL SYSTEM, AND RELATIVE COMPRESSION. PERFORMED ALL REPAIRS RELATED TO TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 12_8_17. AFTER VERIFYING BURNT COIL AND INTERNAL DRIVER FAULT OF PCM TO COALS! REPLACED ALL IGNITION COILS, ALL SPARK PLUGS, UPPER INTAKE GASKETS AND PCM! USED ALL FORD OE PARTS.REPROGRAMED PCM AND ROAD TEST TO VERIFY ALL REPAIRS. COST $2039.29. VERIFIED CONVERTER DAMAGE RELATED TO IGNITION FAILURE DUMPING RAW FUEL THROUGH BANK 1. REPLACED ORIGINAL CONVERTER, SEAL, GASKET, CLEANED ALL O2 SENSORS. COST $704.94. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, SHE COULD SMELL AN INTENSE GASOLINE ODOR OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD A LEAK AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,468.
GAS TANK SEAL CORRODED. MECHANIC WAS INSPECTING CAR WHEN HE FOUND THAT BESIDES THE TRANSMISSION TRANSFER CASE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, THE GAS TANK WAS LEAKING GAS. IT APPEARS THE SEAL IS CORRODED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE NEW TANK WAS APPROXIMATELY 1500. (JUST THE PART) AND ABOUT 600. IN LABOR. I FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE BY FORD, THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. I CAN ONLY PUT ABOUT 5 GALLONS OF GAS IN, NOT TO EXCEED JUST UNDER THE HALF TANK MARK. ALSO, CANNOT PARK CAR ON ANYTHING BUT A LEVEL SURFACE. *TR
VEHICLE FILLED WITH FUEL AND PARKED IN GARAGE, NOTICED FUEL SMELL, FOUND FUEL LEAKING ON GROUND, INSPECTED BY FORD TECHNICIAN, FOUND FUEL TANK LEAKING AT LEFT REAR CORNER OF FUEL TANK. *TR
STRONG FUEL ODOR PRESENT INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER FUELING NOTICED A STEADY DRIP FROM FUEL TANK. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO PRIVATE MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS IT SHOWED EVIDENCE OF CORROSION ON THE TOP OF THE TANK. FORD HAS BEEN NOTIFIED AND WILL NOT ASSIST WITH REPAIR NOR WILL THEY ADMIT IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT OR ACKNOWLEDGE OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR FAULTY FUEL TANKS. IT IS NOT NORMAL FOR A FUEL TANK TO ROT ON A 6 YEAR OLD VEHICLE.
PURCHASED A 2007 FORD EDGE ROUGHLY ABOUT A YEAR AGO, HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. IT WAS MY DREAM CAR SINCE I WAS 18, BEING 24 AND FINALLY HAVING ONE WAS A DREAM COME TRUE. I STARTED EXPERIENCING A WHINING NOISE UPON DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ONE DAY. I PROCEEDED TO PULL OVER THINKING IT WAS A BELT. IT WASN'T SO I CONTINUED TO GO DOWN THE ROAD. BRINGING IT TO MY MECHANIC HE TOLD ME ITS THE TRANSFER CASE WITHIN THE CAR ITSELF. I TRIED CALLING FORD BECAUSE OF THIS COMMON DEFECT TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST IN THE REPLACEMENT OF THEIR MISTAKE. I NOW OWE $1500. *TR
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING VERY ODD UNEXPLAINABLE EVENTS WITH MY 2007 FORD EDGE SINCE FALL OF 2012 WHICH HAS NOW RESULTED IN FULL FAILURE OF MY TRANSMISSION. BEGINNING IN THE FALL, MY EDGE STARTED TO GIVE ME WARNING MESSAGES ON MY ELECTRONIC DASH PANEL READING "TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAULT", ONCE PUT IN REVERSE, THE CAR WOULD MAKE A VIOLENT JERKING MOTION AND LOUD UGLY SOUND. THE MESSAGE ON THE DASH WOULD THEN CHANGE TO READ "ODB DATA ERROR". THE WRENCH AND AIRBAG ICONS WOULD BE LIT. AFTER SHIFTING TO DRIVE, THE CAR SOUNDED AS IF IT WAS IN HIGH GEAR, BUT IT WOULD REFUSE TO ACCELERATE TO A FAST SPEED. ONCE DRIVING, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT REGISTER SPEED, IT WOULD SIT AT 0 MPH. THE DIGITAL ODOMETER FAILED TO DISPLAY ANYTHING. AS I DROVE, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT OR IT WOULD SEEM TO TRY TO SHIFT AND THEN THE CAR WOULD MAKE THE SAME VIOLENT JERKING MOTION AS I EXPERIENCED WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE. IF I STOPPED, IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO GET THE CAR MOVING, IT WOULDN'T WANT TO MOVE/ACCELERATE. THE CAR WOULD ALSO MAKE UNEXPECTED LUNGING MOVEMENTS WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR WOULD ALSO ON OCCASION SUDDENLY STOP ACCELERATING WHILE DRIVING, ALMOST AS IF IT HAD AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTED INTO LOW GEAR. THIS HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY. NOT SAFE! ON MONDAY, JUNE 17, 2013, MY TRANSMISSION FAILED COMPLETELY. UNACCEPTABLE FOR A CAR MY AGE! AS I HAVE BEGUN TO INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM ON THE WEB, TO MY SURPRISE, THIS PROBLEM IS EXTENSIVE. FORD OWNERS HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS FOR YEARS, YET FORD HAS FAILED TO RECOGNIZE THIS PROBLEM WITH A RECALL. HELP! THIS PROBLEM IS COSTLY AND POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 73 MPH THERE WAS A SLIGHT REDUCTION IN THE ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AT THE TIME OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY, HLA ENGINE CONTROL MODULE AND PCM WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,334. ...UPDATED 07-24-13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE DONE, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO EXHIBIT ERRATIC IRREGULAR SHIFTING, ALTHOUGH NOT TO THE EXTENT FOR WHICH HE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN.
I HAVE BEEN SMELLING A SLIGHT FUEL ODOR, LOOKED AT VEHICLE BUT COULD NOT TRACE DOWN LOCATION OF SMELL. ODOR WOULD COME AND GO, THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR A FEW MONTHS. WIFE LEFT FOR WORK AND THERE WAS A STRONG ODOR OF GAS, WHEN SHE BACKED OUT OF GARAGE THERE WAS A PUDDLE OF GAS ABOUT THE SIZE OF 1 FOOT BY 2 FOOT ON THE FLOOR. WHEN SHE RETURNED HOME THAT NIGHT I NOTICED A STEADY DRIP OF FUEL DRIPPING ON THE GROUND. I LOCATED THE LEAK COMING FROM THE SEAM OF THE FUEL TANK, SHE HAD FILLED UP THE DAY BEFORE, AND NOW THE TANK WAS WET WITH FUEL. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD AND SHOULD NOT HAVE A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. I HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES OVER THE YEARS AND NEVER HAVE HAD A FUEL TANK ISSUE LIKE THIS, SO I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR DEFECT OF THE TANK AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. MY EDGE IS PARKED IN A ATTACHED GARAGE WHERE MY ELECTRICAL ROOM, FURNACE, AND WATER HEATER IS LOCATED IN THE SAME LOWER LEVER. OBVIOUSLY I AM PARKING OUTSIDE NOW. MY CONCERN IS THE FIRE HAZARD WITH WATER HEATER IGNITION SOURCE TO MY HOUSE AND VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY FORD, I KNOW THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON HAVING THIS PROBLEM. HOPEFULLY A RECALL CAN BE ISSUED TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. *TR
OIL LEAKING FROM PTU UNIT FORD WANTS $ 1600 TO FIX WHAT SEEMS TO BE A FAULTY (DEFECTIVE) SYSTEM IN FORD EDGES. *TR
LOUD HUMMING SOUND FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR, SOUND STARTED SLIGHTLY THEN BECOMING VERY LOUD, ACCORDING TO DEALER BOTH REAR WHEEL BEARINGS NEED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO INFORMED THAT FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL BUT HAS PROVIDED DEALER WITH TECHNICAL DATA IN THIS REGARD. NOTE ALSO TOOK EXTENDED CAR WARRANTY TO 60,000 MILES BUT NEVER EXPECTED FAILURE TO WHEEL BEARING TO FAIL AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE. NUMEROUS COMMENTS ON THIS HAPPENING WITH 2007 EDGES IN THE ON-LINE DATABASE. FORD QUALITY??? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND JERKED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT SMELLED A BURNING ODOR AND NOTICED FLUID LEAKING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY BRAKES ALL OF A SUDDEN BECAME VERY SPONGY WITH NO WARNING. WITH A HIGH PITCH SQUEALING NOISE WHEN I PRESSED THE PETAL TO THE FLOOR. THEN THE PETAL BECAME VERY HARD TO PRESS. MECHANIC TOLD ME I NEEDED NEW REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. AFTER REPLACING I AM STILL HAVING SAME PROBLEMS WITH NEARLY CRASHING INTO THE BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. NOW I AM TOLD I NEED TO REPLACE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION COIL, SPARK PLUGS AND THE ECM SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY FREEWAY IN MORNING TRAFFIC AND WENT TO ACCELERATE TO CHANGE LANES B/C EXIT WAS COMING UP - NOTICED TRUCK JUST DIDN'T SOUND RIGHT. I FLOORED IT AND THE RPM'S SHOT UP TO OVER 4,000 BUT MY SPEED STAYED AT AROUND 70. I TAPPED THE BRAKES AND THE RPMS DROPPED TO RIGHT ABOVE 0 AND MY TRUCK STARTED SLOWING WAY DOWN QUICK AND I TRIED GIVING IT MORE GAS BUT WOULDN'T GO. THEN IT STARTED SHAKING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY IN THE 2ND LANE FROM OUTSIDE SHOULDER AND WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER MY TRUCK TO THE SHOULDER AND TURN IT OFF TO WAIT FOR THE TOW TRUCK. HAD MY MECHANIC CHECK IT OUT AND HE SAID THE COMPUTER HAS MALFUNCTIONED (POSSIBLY COMPLETELY GONE OUT - WAITING ON HIM TO CHECK IT OUT TODAY) AND CAUSED THE #4 CYLINDER NOT TO HAVE ANY POWER AND THAT COIL IS BURNED. I HAVE NO WARRANTY ON MY TRUCK AS I BOUGHT IT A LITTLE OVER 2YRS AGO AS CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT AND TOLD THEM THERE WAS A TSB ISSUED FOR THIS AND THEY ACTED DUMB AND SAID THERE HAVE BEEN NO REPORTED INCIDENTS OF THIS HAPPENING - THEY ARE AWARE OF A THROTTLE ISSUE BUT NOT WHAT I DESCRIBED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON (SUPPOSEDLY IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE WRENCH LIGHT). *TR
WHILE DRIVING I NOTICES THAT WHEN PRESSING ON THE BRAKES THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP. I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES JUST TO SLOW DOWN AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD STILL GO TO THE FLOOR. GOT THE CARD TO A SERVICE CENTER AND AFTER A COMPLETE CHECK BY THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN I WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS BAD AND THAT IT WAS PREVENTING BRAKE FLOOD TO FLOW THE BRAKES. I COST ME $680.00 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I WENT ONLINE AND IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH 2007 FORD EDGE VEHICLES AND THAT MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. LUCKILY I WASN'T DRIVING FAST AND NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME WHILE DRIVING OR I COULD HAVE CRASHED WITHOUT THE USE MY BRAKES. FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY. DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS THE VEHICLE WILL SHIFT VERY HARD, FEELS LIKE SOMEONE REAR ENDING ME. THE TRANSMISSION FEELS LIKE IT HAS A HARD TIME GETTING INTO GEAR. AT HIGH SPEEDS THE SAME THING HAPPENS BUT USUALLY ON HOT DAYS. THE TRANSMISSION FINALLY GAVE OUT AT 75000 DUE TO THE HARD SLAMMING AND HAD TO BE REBUILT. I WAS LEAVING A DRIVEWAY AND WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE, PUTTING ME AT RISK OF BEING HIT FROM BEHIND. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS AT HIGH SPEEDS. AT 78000 MILES I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, I TURN THE VEHICLE ON THE TRANSMISSION SLAMS INTO R AND THEN I CANNOT ACCELERATE PAST 10 MPH. I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT, AND IT SEEMS LIKE NOTHING EVERY HAPPENED. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COME ONE ONLY EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE IT IS HAPPENING. I WAS JUST DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND DAYS LATER STARTED SMELLING GAS AND LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT THE GAS TANK SPLIT AND STARTED LEAKING.....CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT OR RECALL IT. I CAN'T AFFORD TO GET A NEW TANK THAT COST $2,300 AND FORD RECALLED THE 2008 MODELS FOR THIS REASON BUT REFUSED TO RECALL THE 2007 MODELS....I AM VERY ANGRY BECAUSE AS IT IS I AM GETTING ABOUT 10 MILE TO THE GALLON ON GAS AND ONLY ABLE TO PUT ABOUT 4 GALLONS IN THE TANK AT A TIME AND DRIVE AROUND EVERY DAY WORRYING IF I WOULD EVER GET INTO AN ACCIDENT GOD FORBID I WOULD MAYBE BLOW UP BECAUSE OF THE LEAKING GAS TANK ON THIS VEHICLE... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE SHIFTER VIBRATED ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, WHICH DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A LEAKING TRANS-AXLE. WHILE DRIVING MY FIVE OLD SONS TO SCHOOL YESTERDAY MORNING, I START NOTICING THE CAR STOPS CHANGING SPEED AND START SHAKING ALL THE SUDDEN THEN THE ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT START BLINKING. I HAVE SLOWED DOWN AND KEEP DRIVING MY SOON TO SCHOOL BUT IT WAS BAD EXPERIENCE DRIVING WITH MORNING TRAFFIC. I AM GLAD THAT I AM NOT DRIVING ON THE BIG HIGHWAYS THE CONSEQUENCE COULD BE DIFFERENT. THE DEALER TOLD ME THE IGNITION COMPUTER (RPM) IS CAUSING ONE OF THE IGNITION COIL TO MELT AND CRACK. FOR SURE THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN ON THIS CAR THAT REQUIRES RECALL. *TR
FORD DEALER REPLACED PTU (POWER TAKE OFF UNIT) ON MY AWD FORD EDGE AFTER 3 OTHER INCIDENT OF LEAKING OIL. OTHER PREVIOUS OIL LEAKING PROBLEMS OCCURRED WHEN VEHICLE HAD 10,000, 15,000 AND 20,000 MILES. SAFETY CONCERN IS CAR CATCHING FIRE WHEN OIL LEAKING. JANUARY 18, 2013, IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER, DROVE 2007 FORD EDGE, WITH 40,466 MILES, TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP BECAUSE THE HEATER & DEFROSTER WERE NOT WORKING. THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP FLUSHED THE COOLANT AND THE HEATER CORE AND INSTALLED NEW COOLANT BECAUSE THE HEATER CORE WAS CLOGGED WITH METAL DEBRIS. EIGHT MONTHS LATER, SEPTEMBER 22, 2013 AND 57,000 MILES, SAME PROBLEM, THE HEATER & DEFROSTER WERE NOT WORKING. FIVE DAYS LATER, RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO AUTO REPAIR SHOP BECAUSE OF STRONG COOLANT SMELL AND THE ENGINE FANS WERE TURNING OFF AND ON. THIS TIME, THE SHOP DETERMINED THE HEATER CORE IS CLOGGED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP DISCOVERED FORD'S TSB 09M04S1. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS AND ADDITIONALLY, ADVISED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
WHEN WE DROVE OUR EDGE AT ABOUT 40 MPH IT WOULD MAKE A GROWLING SOUND, JUST PUT ON NEW TIRES SO THOUGHT THEY WERE THE PROBLEM, DECIDED THAT WASN'T IT, LOOKED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL SAW THAT IT HAD A POWER TRANSFER UNIT THAT HELD FLUID CHECKED THAT, IT WAS EMPTY, FILLED IT, THE NOISE DIDN'T GO AWAY, IT GOT WORSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE BOUGHT IT NEW. THEY CALLED SAID THE PTU WAS WORN OUT NEEDED REPLACED. SAID IT WILL COST OVER $1000. WHEN I FOUND THE PROBLEM I DID AN ONLINE SEARCH AND FOUND MANY REPORTS ON PTU FAILURES. IN YOUR DATA BASE I'VE FOUND A GREAT NUMBER ALSO. WHO DETERMINES WHAT IS BAD ENOUGH FOR A RECALL. *TR
I HAD PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY, TURNED OFF MY CAR, GRABBED SOMETHING FROM MY HOUSE AND THEN TURNED MY CAR BACK ON. I PUT MY CAR INTO REVERSE AND THEN PUT IT IN DRIVE. MY CAR ACTED LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE REVVED. I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT 3-4 WEEKS LATER AFTER I HAD JUST PUMPED GAS INTO MY CAR. I THEN TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I PAID $100 FOR THEM TO TELL ME THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION OR COMPUTER SYSTEM. THEY SAID 'MAYBE IT WAS A COMPUTER GLITCH'. SINCE THEN IT HAS HAPPENED 6 MORE TIME, ONE OF WHICH WAS ON A BUSY STREET WHICH ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. MY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY WILL END IN SEPTEMBER AND I NEED TO HAVE THIS ISSUE RESOLVED BEFORE IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE FULLY COVERED. I HAVE READ MULTIPLE REPORTS ON NHTSA OF THIS SAME ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL RELATED TO THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000. I HAD MY FRONT AND BACK BRAKE PADS CHANGED, THEY BLED THE LINE AND I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES WERE EXTREMELY SOFT - PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. HAD THE LINE REBLED AND SAME THING. TOOK IT IN TO MY MECHANIC AND THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER HAD GONE OUT. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD NONE IN STOCK AND THEY WERE ON BACK ORDER - ONLY 3 DEALERSHIPS IN HOUSTON AREA HAD ONE. FOUND ONE AT A DEALERSHIP ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN, BOUGHT IT AND HAD THE MECHANIC INSTALL IT, REBLEED THE BRAKE LINE. NOW THE PEDAL WOULD BE STIFF AND HARD TO PRESS DOWN TO GET TRUCK TO STOP. TOOK IT BACK IN AND HAD THE LINE REBLED AND THE ROTORS RE-TURNED. THAT DID THE TRICK AND IT HAS WORKED FINE SINCE. *TR
DRIVER SIDE REAR BLINKER HAS BEEN REPLACED EVERY 4-6 MONTHS. SOCKET IS COMPLETELY MELTED. BULBS ARE MELTED. BLACK IS ALL AROUND SOCKET. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND I WILL NOT PAY THE DEALERSHIP AN ARM AND LEG JUST TO KEEP ME SAFE (CAR FIRE). ONE PERSON SAID THEY WERE CHARGED 98 DOLLARS. THAT'S ABSURD. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND THIS SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH NO EXPENSE TO THE CUSTOMER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25-30 MPH, SHE WOULD HEAR A LOUD NOISE AS THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME HESITANT WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 62,300. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY 2007 FORD EDGE HAD BEEN HAVING WHAT PEOPLE REFER TO AS A SLIPPED TRANSMISSION. AT FIRST IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, AND IT WOULD ONLY GO IN REVERSE NOT FORWARD. I TURNED IT OFF AND ON TWICE AND THEN IT SEEMED TO OPERATE NORMALLY. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND I WAS FIRST TOLD THERE WAS NO ISSUE, THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME IT WOULD ALSO DO A VIOLENT JERK AS IF I'D BEEN REAR-ENDED. THE SERVICE DEPT REPLACED THE COMPUTER CHIP (NOT SURE WHICH ONE BUT SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE TRANSMISSION). A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER IT AGAIN FAILED TO ACCELERATE BUT THIS TIME IT WOULD NOT RESTART WITHOUT A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. AFTER TOWING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE TRANSMISSION WAS COMPLETELY REPLACED. HOWEVER IT HAS SINCE STARTED DOING THE EXACT SAME THING, BUMPING AS IF THE CAR HAD BEEN REAR-ENDED AS THE CAR IS IN MOTION, IN VARIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE ON DIFFERENT FORUMS. ELECTRIC RADIATOR COOLING FAN QUIT. CAR OVERHEATED. HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR
WE PURCHASED OUR VEHICLE USED AND WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER WE HAD THE VEHICLE WE NOTICED IT WOULD JUMP OR SKIP ALMOST LIKE IT IS NOT GOING INTO GEAR. AT FIRST IT STARTED WITH BEING AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN I TRIED TO GO IT WOULD JUMP. IT EVENTUALLY STARTED TO HAPPEN WHILE WE ARE DRIVING, THERE IS NO CONSISTENT SITUATION LIKE GOING UP OR DOWN A HILL, STOPPED AT A STOPPED SIGN, OR EVEN BACKING UP WHERE THAT IS THE ONLY TIME IT HAPPENS. OVER THE LAST 3 YEARS WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL SHOPS LOOK AT IT INCLUDING A THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED IT WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND AFTER. EACH TIME THEY ADVISED THE COMPUTER WAS NOT REGISTERING ANYTHING WRONG. EVERY LOCATION DROVE THE VEHICLE AND DID FEEL THE SAME THING BUT WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE THE ISSUE. WE HAVE EVEN LEFT THE CAR AT THE SHOP FOR SEVERAL DAYS AT A TIME FOR THEM TO DRIVE AND TRY TO LOCATE THE ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACT FORD BUT WAS ADVISED THERE WAS NO RECALL OR ANYONE ELSE HAVING ISSUES BUT I WAS WELCOME TO CALL BACK AND KEEP ADVISING THEM OF THE ISSUE. THE REPAIR SHOPS ADVISED I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR SOMETHING TO ESSENTIALLY BREAK TO BE ABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. OTHER THAN THIS ISSUE WE HAVE HAD NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR AND WE HAVE IT SERVICED REGULARLY BUT WE ARE CONCERNED WITH DRIVING IT LONG DISTANCES AND I AM AFRAID THIS JUMP/SKIP MAY EVENTUALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I TOOK MY FORD EDGE IN FOR THE FIRST TIME IN JANUARY 2012 WITH THESE ISSUES: WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT WOULD SHIFT EXTREMELY HARD, IT FELT AS IF MY CAR HAD BEEN REAR ENDED, NUMEROUS TIMES THE WRENCH LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME SLUGGISH, WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. THERE WAS ALSO A HIGH PITCHED WHINE WHEN THE CAR WAS IN REVERSE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM, AFTER RESEARCHING MYSELF ON THE INTERNET I TOLD THEM ABOUT THE MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS I READ ON THE EDGE TRANSMISSION AND TO CHECK THE TURBINE SHAFT SPEED SENSOR. THEY THEN REPLACED IT AT NO CHARGE BECAUSE I WAS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. FOR 8 MONTHS I WENT WITHOUT INCIDENT UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2012, SAME PROBLEM ONLY WORSE, I MANAGED TO INCH MY WAY OFF THE HIGHWAY. WHEN IN DRIVE AND PRESSING ON THE GAS THE CAR WOULD HARDLY MOVE, WHEN SHIFTING INTO PARK/DRIVE THE TRANSMISSION WOULD MAKE A HORRENDOUS CLUNKING SOUND. SO HERE I AM BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP NO LONGER UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY AND HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. I AM FORTUNATE I WAS NOT REAR ENDED WHEN MY CAR CAME TO A HALT IN TRAFFIC AND I AM GRATEFUL I WAS ABLE TO GET TO SAFETY. WHILE BRAKING ON A HIGHWAY I FELT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES AS I HAD TO PUSH THE PEDAL WITH ALL MY MIGHT TO SLOW DOWN. AFTER EXITING THE RAMP AND APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT IT WAS APPARENT THAT I HAD NO "REAL" BRAKES..AGAIN PEDAL TO THE FLOOR WITH A VERY LONG DISTANCE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AT THIS TIME I COULD HEAR A VERY LOUD KIND OF WHISTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE PEDAL WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES..AGAIN TO THE FLOOR. AS I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT IT FELT LIKE I LOST ALL CONTROL ...ALMOST LIKE NO POWER AT ALL TO STOP THE CAR. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO FORD..MY MECHANIC SAID IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER. *TR
I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH WHILE TURNING RIGHT WHEN I HEARD A CLUNKING NOISE AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY CAR DIPPED MORE THAN IT SHOULD. THE RIGHT WHEEL (LOOKING OUT FROM THE VEHICLE) SEEMED TO "GIVE" WHEN IT TURNED. I TOOK IT INTO A BODY SHOP AND THEY SAID THAT THE BALL JOINT WAS LOOSE AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT THE MILEAGE ON MY CAR WAS APPROXIMATELY 48K. I HAVE ONLY HIGHWAY MILES AND DO NOT DO ANY OFF-ROADING. THE CLUNKING NOISE AND "GIVE"OF THE RIGHT BALL JOINT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AND A FLOATING SENSATION IS CAUSED, WHICH FEELS LIKE THE CAR WILL TIP OVER WHEN MAKING RIGHT TURNS ON THE HIGHWAY AT MORE THAN 30 MPH. *TR
WHEN I ACCELERATE FROM A STOP MY TRANSMISSIONS VIOLENT SHIFTS BETWEEN 1ST TO 2ND AND SOMETIMES FROM 2ND TO 3RD. IT DOES NOT DO THIS ALL THE TIME ONLY 2 OR 3 TIMES PER WEEK FOR AS LONG AS I AM DRIVING IT. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO LUMBERTON FORD CONCERNING THIS AND THEY STATED IT DID NOT THROW ANY CODES. TECH COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM (DUH) SO HEY ADVISED ME TO BRING IT BACK WHEN IT WAS ACTIVELY DOING IT. MOST OF THE TIMES ITS AFTER HOURS OR WHILE I AM IN ROUTE IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OR GOING SOMEWHERE. MOST PEOPLE JUST DON'T CRUISE AROUND DURING THE WEEK. I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO TODAY WHEN I FOUND FORD TSB 7 5 2 AND PROVIDED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY SWEAR THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM. FIRST WHEN I SPOKE TO THE GUY COUPLE DAYS AGO HE COULDN'T EVEN PULL IT UP ON HIS SYSTEM THEN HE SAID THE TECH ADAMANTLY DENIED THIS WAS THE PROBLEM. TOOK VEHICLE FOR DRIVE NOT PROBLEMS, ON WHY HOME NOTICED RPM AND HEARD ENGINE REV HIGH WHEN IN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS LATER VEHICLE WAS AT 35MPH SLOWED TO TURN, HARD SHIFT DOWN WRENCH LIGHT LIT UP, ENGINE WOULD ONLY REV. TOOK TO SHOP GOT TWO GOODS FOR SENSORS HOWEVER SENSORS SHOWED THEY WERE FINE. 3 WEEKS LATER EXITING HIGHWAY RAMP VEHICLE AGAIN DOES SHIFTED HARD, WRENCH LIT CAME ON AND ENGINE REVVED DID NOT MOVE. WAS ABLE TO PULL CAR TO SIDE TURN OFF WRENCH LIT OUT AND CAR WENT INTO DRIVE. WENT TO SHOP AGAIN TOLD TURBINE SPEED SENSOR WAS BAD. I SEE THEY ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND FORD DOES NOT SEE THIS AS A PROBLEM WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS. *TR

PTU UNIT KEEPS LEAKING. HAD UNIT REPLACED IN 2012 AND NOW JUST HAD TO HAVE IT DONE AGAIN IN 2015. *JS
WHILE DRIVING MY '07 FORD EDGE ON THE EXPRESSWAY I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 60 MPH AND BEGAN STALLING. I EXITED THE EXPRESSWAY TO NOTICE THIS BURNING SMELL COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF MY CAR. I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT TO A SAFE PLACE TO PARK WHEN IT JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A WELL KNOW AUTO SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT AN IGNITION COIL WAS BURNED AND THE REASON MY CAR STALLED. I HAD THE IGNITION COIL REPLACED AND THE CAR STILL WOULD NOT RESTART. I HAD IT TOWED TO ANOTHER SHOP AND WAS TOLD THE CRANK SHAFT AND CAM SHAFT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I PAID FOR THESE SERVICES AND FINALLY WAS TOLD THE COMPUTER ON THE CAR WAS BURNED AND THIS IS THE REASON THAT MY CAR WOULD NOT START. FINALLY MY CAR HAS BEEN TOWED TO FORD AND I AM AWAITING ITS FATE. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR TWO YEARS AND THIS IS THE SECOND ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT I HAVE ENCOUNTERED WITH THIS VEHICLE. AT FIRST, I WAS CHANGING REAR TURN SIGNALS ALMOST 1-2 A WEEK. I PURCHASED MY EDGE JANUARY 2010 AND HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY JULY 2010. AFTER READING OTHER FORUMS I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE POTENTIAL ELECTRICAL FIRES THAT THIS SUV COULD PRODUCE.
THE 2007 FORD EDGE STARTED TO HAVE A PROBLEMS, SHAKING, STALLING. 6/1/12 TOOK VEHICLE TO PEP BOYS THINKING IT WAS A SENSOR OR SOMETHING SIMILAR. THE IGNITION COILS WERE MELTED FROM A ENCLOSE EXPLOSION OF THE PART.. UPON REPLACING THE PARTS, THE CAR FAIL TO RUN PROPERLY. PEP BOYS CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO INQUIRE FORD DEALERSHIP KNEW RIGHT AWAY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THEY OPENLY ADMITTED THAT THIS WAS A SERIOUS FIRE DANGER AND THE CAR HAD TO BROUGHT TO THEM TO FIX. HAS SOMETHING TO WITH THE ENGINE COMPUTER BUT..... NO RECALL FOR YEAR 2007 WAS TOLD HOW LUCKY I WAS THAT THE CAR DID NOT EXPLODE OR CATCH FIRE. THE FORD SERVICE DEPT HAS RUN INTO THE PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES AND SEEM TO AWARE OF THE DANGER OF THIS PROBLEM. I WAS FORCED TO PAY FORD DEALERSHIP PRICES FOR 6 FORD IGNITION COILS AT THEIR PRICE, NEW ENGINE COMPUTER AT FORD PRICE PLUS LABOR AT FORD LABOR PRICES, PLUS TUNE UP. AND NO ASSURANCE THAT MY CAR WOULD NOT CATCH FIRE OR EXPLODE FOR THAT FACT I WOULD SAY THAT THIS IS A CONSUMER SAFETY ISSUE, WOULDN'T YOU? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT FELT AS IF SHE WAS DRIVING IN NEUTRAL. WHILE SHIFTING GEARS, SHE HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FOR UNDER THE HOOD. IN ADDITION, ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE A FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
