THE SPEEDOMETER WENT TO ZERO AND ALL THE MILEAGE INFORMATION WENT BLANK. THE FRONT AIRBAG LIGHT, SERVICE WRENCH AND SHORTLY THERE AFTER THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR LIGHT CAME ON. I EXITED THE FREEWAY AND AFTER STOPPING FOR THE TRAFFIC LIGHT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, BUT MOVED SLOWLY APPARENTLY STUCK IN THE HIGH GEARS. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT UP OR DOWN. THE NEXT STOP LIGHT THE SAME PROBLEM. I PARKED IN A PARKING LOT AND RECYCLED THE IGNITION AND THE MILEAGE INFORMATION RETURNED. HOWEVER WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO CLUNK VIOLENTLY! I THEN SWITCHED TO DRIVE AND AGAIN IT CLUNKED VIOLENTLY! I RECYCLED THE IGNITION AGAIN AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE AGAIN CLUNKING VIOLENTLY. I AGAIN RECYCLED THE IGNITION AND PUT INTO REVERSE THE VEHICLE TRANS CLUNKED MOVING BACKWARDS. I THEN PULLED FORWARD SHIFTING TO DRIVE AGAIN WITH A CLUNK THE VEHICLE MOVED FORWARD AS IF STILL IN HIGHER GEARS. I DROVE ACROSS THE PARKING LOT TO ABOUT 30 MPH AND BRAKED TO A STOP IT DOWN SHIFTED HARD. AFTER THAT THE TRANS WORKED TO GET US HOME, HOWEVER THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT LIGHT UP ON THE DASH OR WOULD NOT FUNCTION PERIOD. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO HEMBORG FORD IN NORCO, CA TO CHECK WITH 59,175 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. JUST TWO WEEKS EARLIER THE RIGHT REAR AXLE BEARING WAS WINING AND FORD REPLACED THE BEARING
ONE OF THE REAR BLINKERS WENT BAD TWICE SINCE I HAD THE CAR AND WHEN I WENT TO REPLACE IT THE SOCKET THAT THE BULB GOES INTO WAS BLACK AND MELTED. THE FIRST TIME THE BLINKER WENT OUT THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY SO THE DEALER REPLACED THE BULB. I FEEL THAT THIS ISSUE NEED TO BE ADDRESSED SOON BECAUSE OTHER THAN BEING ANNOYING HAVING TO REPLACE THE BULB IT SEEMS LIKE A FIRE HAZARD. *TR
TIRE THREAD WORE ON INNER WALL AND CAUSED TIRE TO BLOW
BOUGHT THE CAR USED FROM A FORD DEALER WITH 46,138 MILES AND PURCHASED AN EXTEND WARRANTY 07/17/2010 IN DEC 2010 NOTICED A SMELL FROM CAR , TOOK IT TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP, HE PRINTED ME OUT THE FORD TSB 09-25-7 THAT IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM WITH THE RIGHT HAND INT SHAFT LEAK ON THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT (PTU) I TOOK TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM AND FIXED, UNDER THE ORIGINAL CAR WARRANTY.(55,799 MILES) IN AUG 2012 NOTICED THE SAME SMELL, WENT AN OTHER FORD DEALERSHIP(9-12-12), SAME PROBLEM WITH PTU SEALS, AND NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. PAID APPROXIMATELY $800 TO REPAIR. IN MAY 2014 SAME SMELL AGAIN, TOOK BACK TO THE DEALER WHO DID THE LAST REPAIR (6-27-14), PTU AGAIN, EXCEPT THIS TIME IT NEEDED SEALS PLUS A NEW PTU OVER $1,400 TO REPAIR. THE SMELL COMES FROM THE FLUID DRIPPING ONTO THE EXHAUST, NOT SURE HOW TOXIC OR FLAMMABLE IT IS BUT I KNOW IT CAN'T BE GOOD FOR YOU. THIS IS NOT CAUSED BY MISS USE OF THE CAR OR LACK OF MAINTENANCE. IT IS FORD POOR DESIGN, AND I REALIZE MISTAKES HAPPEN, BUT STAND BEHIND YOUR PRODUCT. *TR
2007 FORD EDGE, BOTH REAR TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS SHORTED OUT WITHIN A FEW WEEKS OF EACH OTHER. IN BOTH CASES, THE BASE OF BULB THAT PLUGS INTO SOCKET HAS A BURNED BLACK APPEARANCE LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THIS COULD BE A FIRE SAFETY HAZARD IN THIS MODEL. I HAVE REPLACED BOTH BULBS AND MY HUSBAND IS REPORTING TO OUR LOCAL DEALER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO STOP. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL REQUIRED EXCESSIVE FORCE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,920.
MY 2007 FORD EDGE BEGAN TO HAVE ERRATIC BRAKING. THE PEDAL WOULD GO ALMOST TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKING WAS VERY POOR DURING THOSE TIMES. AT OTHER TIMES THE PEDAL BECAME ALMOST ROCK HARD AND COULD HARDLY BE PRESSED AND LITTLE OR NO BRAKING OCCURRED. THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY DURING EXITING THE FREEWAY AND I HAD TO LET OFF AND PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL AND WAS ABLE TO STOP. VERY DISCONCERTING AND THE PROBLEM WAS GETTING WORSE SO TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE PROBLEM WAS A LEAKING BRAKE BOOSTER WHICH REQUIRED $400 TO REPLACE. MY CAR HAD 3.5 YEARS OF SERVICE AND ABOUT 53,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE DRIVEN FOR OVER 50 YEARS AND NEVER HAD A BRAKE BOOSTER GO OUT. I FEEL THAT THIS PROBLEM IS A SAFETY ISSUE BUT FORD APPARENTLY DOES NOT. *TR
FORD EDGE WHEEL BEARINGS BROUGHT VEHICLE IN TO DAVID SELF FORD IN ORANGE, TEXAS DUE TO NOSE COMING FROM REAR OF VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER 2010 - WAS TOLD WHEEL BEARING WAS OUT, AND I HAD DAVID SELF FORD REPLACE FOR AROUND $500. NOW FEBRUARY 2012 THIS IS HAPPENING AGAIN AND NOW I'M BEING TOLD BOTH BEARINGS ARE OUT, AND OF COURSE WILL BE AROUND $1000 TO FIX. RESEARCHING THIS VIA GOOGLE, AND THERE IS A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT FORD EDGE WHEEL BEARINGS GOING OUT ON FORD EDGE MODELS BETWEEN 2007-2010 MAKES. TALKING WITH OTHERS THEY ARE SAYING IF THESE BEARINGS GO OUT COMPLETELY THIS WILL LOCK UP THE BACK WHEELS AND WILL STOP ROLLING COMPLETELY. TO ME THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, HOWEVER REPORTING THIS TO FORD THEY ARE SAYING THERE IS NO RECALL AT THIS POINT. PLEASE LET ME KNOW SOME FEEDBACK ON THIS DUE TO FORD HAS REDESIGNED WHEEL BEARINGS, HOWEVER IS STATING THERE IS NO RECALL ON THESE, AND REPAIRS ARE PASTED OFF TO THE CUSTOMER (2ND TIME FOR ME AND OTHERS VIA GOOGLE)- I FEEL THIS IS A BAD DESIGN FROM FORD, AND RECALL NEEDS TO BE DONE. *TR

A LOCAL MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE WHEEL BEARINGS WERE RUSTING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 106,108. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, A LOUD HUMMING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. AS A RESULT OF THE DEFECT, THE VEHICLE REQUIRED AN ALIGNMENT AND THE REAR PASSENGER'S TIRE HAD PREMATURELY WORN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY ADVISED THE SERVICE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TRANSMISSION VIOLENTLY SHIFTS. SOMETIMES, IT DOES NOT SHIFT INTO FIRST OR SECOND GEAR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY THOUGHT THE BRAKES WERE GOING BAD BECAUSE THE PEDAL WAS GOING TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD TAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE BRAKES WOULD ENGAGE. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS PREVENTING BRAKE FLUID FROM GOING THROUGH THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54000.
OUR 2007 FORD EDGE HAS EXPERIENCED THE ENGINE CUTTING OFF WITHOUT WARNING THREE TIMES. THE DEALER REPROGRAMS THE PCM MODULE BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. IT WAS REPROGRAMMED ON 7/20/2010 AND IT CUT OFF AGAIN ON 7/23/2010 AT 50 MPH AGAIN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THIS IS AN UNNERVING ,UNSAFE CONDITION. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER A 13 MONTH PERIOD, TWICE NOW WITHIN A MONTH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ACCELERATING AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC BUT NO FAILURE CODES GENERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 23,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 27,000.
FOR THE LAST YEAR OR MORE MY CAR (2007 FORD EDGE SEL) HAS BEEN STALLING. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO FORD WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING. IT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN ON AND OFF SO WE BROUGHT IT BACK TO FORD IN JUNE 2010 AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER AND DID AN UPDATE, THEY THOUGHT THIS WOULD SOLVE IT. A WEEK LATER IT STARTED AGAIN BUT THIS TIME STARTED STALLING WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN A WINDING HILL, I LOST COMPLETED CONTROL OF THE CAR AND HAD NO STEERING, I QUICKLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED WHILE TRYING TO KEEP THE CAR ON THE ROAD. IT WAS VERY SCARY AS I HAD MY 2 CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY BACK AT FORD AND HAS BEEN FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS AS THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE. THEY SAY THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET I FOUND 6 OR MORE CASE OF THE SAME COMPLAINT WITH THE FORD EDGE 2007 AND 2008 BUT YET FORD DOESN'T KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THIS. *TR
MY HUSBAND & I OWN A 2007 FORD EDGE. WE ARE A MILITARY FAMILY WITH MY HUSBAND SERVING IN THE USAF. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE TRAVEL VERY OFTEN BY CAR TO VISIT FAMILY MEMBERS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. SINCE HAVING OUR FIRST BABY 8 MONTHS AGO ON THIS LATEST CAR TRIP WE DECIDED TO USE OUR CARGO ROOF RACK FOR THE FIRST TIME. THIS ROOF RACK IS THE RACK THAT CAME ON THE FORD EDGE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. WE DECIDED TO BUY A SMALL 36"X30"X18" CARGO BAG (CLOTH) TO PUT A FEW ITEMS IN & CARRY ON THE ROOF. FIVE MINUTES INTO THE TRIP ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE HOV LANE WE HEARD A LOUD SNAP NOISE & THE ENTIRE ROOF RACK BROKE OFF WITH OUR CARGO BAG & WENT FLYING OFF BEHIND US IN EARLY AM RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC NEARLY CAUSING A CAR ACCIDENT. NO SHOULDER ON THE HIGHWAY MY HUSBAND AND I HAD TO GET A POLICE OFFICER TO HELP US BLOCK THE HOV LANE SO WE COULD GET THE CARGO BAG & BROKEN ROOF RACK. THE CARGO HAD NO MORE THAN 60 LBS. WORTH INSIDE SO WE KNOW WE DIDN'T EXCEED ANY WEIGHT LIMIT. I MYSELF @ 130LBS & 5'2" COULD PICK UP THE CARGO BAG MYSELF. WE DROVE STRAIGHT TO FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE WE WAITED THREE HOURS TO HEAR THAT FORD WOULD NOT REPLACE THE ROOF RACK BECAUSE IT WAS DAMAGED BY OUTSIDE CAUSES. I SHOULD MENTION THAT MY EDGE IS STILL COVERED UNDER THE 36,000.00 MILE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THERE ISN'T A STITCH OF INFORMATION IN THE OWNERS MANUAL AS TO WHAT THE ROOF RACK WEIGHT LIMITS ARE OR HOW CARGO SHOULD BE STRAPPED TO IT. I WILL BE FILING AN APPEAL COMPLAINT TODAY & IF I HAVE TO I WILL GO STRAIGHT TO ALLAN MULALLY MYSELF. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT FORD WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT ESPECIALLY WHILE UNDER WARRANTY THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED A FATAL ACCIDENT. EVEN MORE DESPICABLY TREAT A FAMILY SERVING THIS COUNTRY WHO PUT THEIR TRUST IN THE FORD MOTOR VEHICLE COMPANY & THEIR "WARRANTY" COMMITMENT SO POORLY. WE HAD STRONGLY CONSIDERED BEING FORD OWNERS FOR LIFE, ESPECIALLY AS OUR FAMILY GREW BUT TO HAVE TO PUT UP A FIGHT OVER A ROOF RACK UNDER WARRANTY HAS CHANGED OUR MINDS. *TR
2007 FORD EDGE WITH VISTA ROOF GLASS TOP. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED MY FRONT GLASS PANEL EXPLODED AND SCATTERED GLASS SHARDS DOWN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. SINCE DEALING WITH THE FORD DEALER AND COMPANY THERE IS NO INDICATION THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. HOWEVER, AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THIS REPORTED (HTTP://TOWNHALL-TALK.EDMUNDS.COM/DIRECT/VIEW/.F0FD566) SINCE WE HAD THE INSIDE PANEL CLOSED NO ONE WAS HURT. BESIDES THE NOISE SCARING THE DRIVER I IMAGINE THAT IF THE PANEL IS OPEN THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. THE CAR IS STILL IN FOR REPAIR AND AM TOLD REPLACEMENT PART(S) IS ON ORDER FROM OUT OF STATE. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO CONTINUE INTO AT LEAST THE 2008 MODELS. *TR
1. WAS DRIVING TO WORK IN MY 2007 FORD EDGE SEL WITH HANKOOK TIRES, WHEN THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR LIGHT TURNED ON. 2. AT WORK, I FOUND A TIRE WAS AT 20 PSI AND LEAKING FROM A CRACK AT THE BASE OF THE VALVE STEM. I INSPECTED THE THREE OTHER STEMS AND FOUND THEM WITH CRACKS AT THE BASE OF THE VALVE STEM. 3. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LEAKING VALVE STEM. THEY DID NOT TOUCH THE OTHER THREE VALVE STEMS. THE VERY NEXT DAY, ANOTHER VALVE STEM FAILED AND BEGAN TO LEAK. *TR
AFTER HAVING THE REAR BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS ON MY 2007 FORD EDGE REPLACED AT JACK SAFRO FORD IN OCONOMOWOC,WI ON 5/24/10, I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT, THE ABS WARNING LIGHT, AND THE TRACTION WARNING LIGHT WERE ON. ALSO NOTED THAT THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM WAS INOPERABLE AT THAT TIME. MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT ON 6/2/10 AT DEALER TO HAVE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED. DEALER INFORMED ME THAT BOTH REAR WHEEL ABS SENSORS WERE INOPERABLE AND RECOMMENDED REPLACING BOTH SENSORS, THE REAR WHEEL BEARING AND TRAILER ARM ON THE RIGHT REAR SIDE. DEALER ALSO INFORMED ME THAT PROBLEM WAS UNRELATED TO THE BRAKE WORK DONE JUST PRIOR. WHILE THE CAR WAS AT THE DEALER THAT DAY I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE RELATIVE TO THE PROBLEM AND WAS INFORMED THAT FORD WOULD NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE ON THE REPAIR AS THE VEHICLE HAD 39,696 MILES AND WAS OUTSIDE THE 36,000 MILE WARRENTY.I DECLINED TO HAVE THE WORK DONE AT THAT TIME IN ORDER TO GET MORE INFORMATION. ON 6/7/10 I TOOK THE CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP SPECIALIZING IN ABS BRAKES, WHERE THEY TOLD ME THE RIGHT REAR ABS BRAKE SENSOR HAD BEEN DAMAGED BY THE RIGHT REAR SENSOR RING, WHICH ITSELF WAS DAMAGED AND PARTIALLY SHREDDED. PER THE MANUFACTURER'S SERVICE BULLETIN, THAT SHOP THEN REPLACED BOTH REAR WHEEL SENSORS, AND THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL HUB WITH BEARING AND SENSOR RING. I WAS GIVEN THE OLD HUB WHICH I HAVE RETAINED AND WAS SHOWN THE FAILED SENSOR RING WHICH CAUSED THE ABS PROBLEM. BRAKES OPERATED PROPERLY WITH WARNING LIGHTS OFF AFTER THAT REPAIR. I HAD THE REPAIR DONE AT THAT SHOP RATHER THAN THE DEALER BECAUSE I WAS GIVEN A VERY SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM, AS OPPOSED TO JUST BEING TOLD "BOTH REAR WHEEL SENSORS WERE NOT WORKING", WITH NO MENTION OF THE DAMAGED SENSOR RING. I AM NOT PERSUADED THAT THE SENSOR PROBLEM WAS UNRELATED TO THE EARLIER REAR BRAKE JOB SINCE THE TECHNICIAN AT THE SECOND SHOP SHOWED ME WHERE SOMEONE HAD ATTEMPTED TO GLUE THE RIGHT REAR SENSOR UNIT TOGETHER. I ALSO HAVE THAT PART WHICH WAS REPLACED. *TR
APPROXIMATELY 6 WEEKS AGO I FOUND OUT THAT I HAD A BIG PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. I WAS TOLD I WAS NOT TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE IF THE PTO UNIT WENT OUT MY REAR WHEELS WOULD NOT FUNCTION BECAUSE IT IS ALL WHEEL DRIVE AND IT WOULD BE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. WELL FORD MOTOR COMPANY WAS TO SHIP PARTS OUT IN 2 WEEKS, WELL THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. THEN AGAIN I WAS TOLD THE PARTS WOULD BE HERE LAST WEEK AND THEY TOOK ME OFF BACK ORDER AND SAID MY PARTS WOULD BE HERE BY MONDAY JUNE 4TH. WELL GUESS WHAT MY PART DIDN'T MAKE IT. MY 2007 FORD EDGE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED AT UNDER 63,000 MILES. THE TRANSMISSION THAT NORTH COUNTY FORD IN VISTA CALIFORNIA INSTALLED TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION, ALSO FAILED THE SAME DAY THEY DELIVERED THE VEHICLE TO MY HOME. REAR TAIL LIGHT BULBS REQUIRE FREQUENT REPLACING. BULBS AND SOCKETS ARE DISCOLORED AND SHOW MINOR MENTING OF PLASTIC SOCKET MATERIAL. THE CORRECT 4157K BULBS ARE BEING USED AS PER THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BY US NEW. *TR

THE FIRST TIME WAS IN FEB. 2010 THE SWITCH UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT OUT, LEFT ME STRANDED. NOW THE BRAKE BOOSTER IS GOING BAD. NO WARNING, THE BRAKES GET ROCK HARD AND THEN GO TO THE FLOOR WITH A HORRIBLE WHISTLING NOISE. YOU MAY OR MAY NOT STOP. DON'T DO ANY SUDDEN STOPS YOU WILL CRASH. I OWN A 2007 FORD EDGE. RECENTLY I REPLACED 3 PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE/TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS IN A MATTER OF WEEKS. I CALLED THE FORD DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO STOP BUYING CHEAP BULBS. HERE'S THE KICKER - EACH TIME I WENT IN TO AUTO PARTS SHOP TO BUY A BULB, THERE WAS SOME ONE ELSE THERE BUYING A BULB FOR FORD EDGE REAR PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT. AND I'VE NOTICED A MUNBER OF FORD EDGE'S ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE LIGHT / TURN SIGNAL NOT OPERATING. THE LAST BULB I PUT INTO MY VEHICLE BURNED OUT SO BADLY THAT THE PLASTIC BASE OF THE BULB MELTED INTO THE BULB SOCKET! FINALLY, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SOCKET, BUT NOT UNTIL I ALMOST HAD A FIRE. I THINK THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THAT FORD IS IGNORING OR DENYING TO AVOID THE COST OF REPLACING TAIL LIGHT SOCKETS ON THE FORD EDGE. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM IN 2 WAYS - 1. AN INOPERABLE BRAKE LIGHT AND TURN SIGNAL (BOTH CONTAINED IN ONE BULB) MAKES DRIVING DANGEROUS, AND 2. THERE IS A DANGER OF A FIRE IF THE SOCKET OR WIRING IS GETTING HOT ENOUGH TO MELT PLASTIC. I COULD SEND YOU A PICTURE OF THE BURNED OUT SOCKET IF YOU'D LIKE.
THE REAR TAIL LIGHT SOCKET ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS EXTREMELY CHARRED. THE LIGHT BULB ON THAT SIDE HAS FAILED 5 TIMES OVER 7 YEARS, CLEARLY FROM OVERHEATING, CAUSING LOSS OF BRAKE LIGHT AND TURN LIGHT. THE OTHER SIDE HAS NEVER FAILED BUT SHOWS EARLY SIGNS OF OVERHEATING.
TAKATA RECALL. I RESPONDED TO THE RECALL NOTICE AND TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP (SPIKES FORD - MISSION, TX) AND WAS TOLD TWICE THAT THEY COULD NOT FIX THE ISSUE BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS NOT AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. WHEN I CHECKED WITH THE NHTSA AND ENTERED THE VIN, NHTSA STATED MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED. I THEN CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AT 1-800-392-3673 AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME. THERE ARE DEALERSHIPS OUT THERE THAT ARE LYING TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. SO DISAPPOINTED IN FORD.

ADDITIONALLY, THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD FEEL HARD AND RESISTANT WHEN BEING DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
THE REAR TURN SIGNAL BULBS ARE BURNING OUT ON A REGULAR BASIS OF APPROX EVERY 4-5 MONTH. THE BULBS AND ASSEMBLY BOTH SHOW SIGNS OF BLACKENING AND MELTING. I HAVE A 2007 FORD EDGE WITH CONTINENTAL TIRES SIZE P245/60 R18-------104T THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 16,000 MILES ON IT AND THE FRONT TIRES HAVE WORN DOWN DRAMATICALLY AND THE BACK TIRES HAVE WORN DOWN ON THE INSIDES ONLY, WHICH WASN'T SEEN UNTIL THE TIRES WERE ROTATED IN SEPTEMBER. NOW THAT THE TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED THE TIRES THAT WERE REMOVED FROM THE BACK AND PUT ON THE FRONT ARE NOW WEARING DOWN, LIKE THE ONES THAT WERE IN THE FRONT DID. I HAVE CONTACTED CONTINENTAL TIRE WHO SAYS THE PROBLEM BELONGS TO FORD AND FORD SAYS THE PROBLEM IS THE TIRE COMPANIES PROBLEM. I HAVE A 3 YEAR 36,000 MILE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY AND THEY DENY HAVING ANY RESPONSIBILITY AND CONTINENTAL TIRE SAYS THEY DON'T WARRANTY THE TIRES FOR THE PURCHASER OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

WE OWN A 2007 FORD EDGE AND DURING OUR TRIP THIS PAST WEEKEND HAD TWO OF THE FOUR VALVE STEMS GO BAD ON US AND CAUSE THE SENSOR TO ACTIVATE. WHEN WE CHECKED EACH TIME WE FOUND THAT THE STEMS HAD "SPLIT" AND AIR WAS COMING OUT CAUSING FLAT TIRES. THE FIRST EVENT WAS ON THE 30TH OF JULY ON OUR WAY TO DESTINATION AND THE SECOND WAS ON THE 2ND OF AUGUST ON OUR WAY BACK HOME. THIS WAS ESPECIALLY FRUSTRATING AS WE WERE IN A NOMANS LAND AREA WITH NO SERVICES AND HAD TO LIMP FOR A FEW HOURS ON THE DONUT SPARE TIRE TO GET TO A TOWN THAT HAD SERVICE. HE CONTACTED BOTH THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURE AND THEY ADVISED HIM TO HAVE THE HUBS REPLACED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,189 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,573.
WHEN I AM ON AN INCLINE AND I TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS MY CAR WILL ROLL BACKWARDS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED BECAUSE I HEARD THERE WAS A TSA FOR IT. THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL TO ROLL BACKWARDS AND THAT I NEEDED TO KEEP MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I HAVE ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE OF IT ROLLING BACKWARDS. MY HUSBAND WAS TRAVELING I-40E AT THE FT. SMITH JUNCTION ABOUT 50MPH WHEN HE HEARD A VERY LOUD BANG IN THE RIGHT FRONT. THINKING IT WAS A BLOWOUT, HE BRACED AND THEN A VERY LOUD REPETITIVE THUMPING STARTED, HE SAID HE WAS KIND OF FLOATING AROUND THE ROAD UNCONTROLLABLY WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENING, THEN HE HEARD ANOTHER LOUD BANG AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED AS THOUGH HE HIT SOMETHING THAT ALLOWED HIM TO CONTINUE MOVING AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED THE WAS PULLED INTO THE BARRICADE WALL OF THE BRIDGE. UPON INSPECTION, THE TIRE HAD COM;LETELY FALLEN OFF AND LAID DOWN ON ITS SIDE AND THE VEHICLE, JUST BETWEEN THE PASSENGER FRONT FOR AND WHEEL WELL, HAD LANDED ON THE WHEEL. THE HIGHWAY PATROL WAS CONTACTED AND I WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE. I OBSERVED A LONG METAL BAR SNAPPED IN TWO, AS WELL AS THE STRUT. THE SPRING WAS ALSO LAYING THERE. THE COLLISION WAS ON THE RIGHT FRONT CORNER INFRONT OF THE WHEEL WELL. *TR
MY 2007 FORD EDGE IS NOW IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING A TRANSMISSION LEAK REPAIRED DUE TO FAULTY AXLE SEALS (SO I'M TOLD) FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN 18 MONTHS. I WAS INFORMED BY A SERVICE MANAGER THAT MY EDGE IS NOT THE FIRST HE HAS SEEN TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. ALSO FORD HAS STOPPED SHIPPING REPLACEMENT SEALS BECAUSE THEY ARE NO BETTER THAN THE ORIGINALS. FORD'S STANCE SEEMS TO BE THAT THERE IS NO MAJOR PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE WAS JUST REPAIRED IN JANUARY OF THIS YEAR FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM FIRST APPEARED IN DECEMBER OF 07, I TOOK DELIVERY IN AUGUST OF 07. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO REPAIRED IN 08 FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
