TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SEAT BELTS IN THE VEHICLE DO NOT RETRACT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER TWICE FOR THE FAILURE. THE FIRST TIME, THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE RETRACTOR, BUT IT CONTINUED TO FAIL. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS NORMAL AND THE SEAT BELT WAS DESIGNED TO OPERATE IN THAT MANNER. THE CONTACT IS CONCERNED THAT HER CHILDREN WILL NOT BE PROTECTED PROPERLY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 33,000.
PTU SEALS LEAKING A TOTAL OF SEVEN DIFFERENT TIMES. *TR
ON JANUARY 16 2009 LEAK ON FRONT AXLE SEAL. FORD DEALER REPLACED PTU COVER AND INTERMEDIATE SHAFT SEAL. ON MAY 29, 2009 LEAK WAS DETECTED AGAIN FROM PTU UNIT. FORD REPLACED AGAIN! ON JUNE 9 2014 VEHICLE HAS LEAKS OF PTU AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL SEAL AGAIN. OUT OF WARRANTY! ESTIMATE COST TO REPAIR IS $1600. AFTER RESEARCH THE PTU IS A PROBLEM ON THE FORD EDGE 2007 AND 2008 MODELS. FORD WILL NOT ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM. *TR
PTU SEAL HAS BEEN REPLACED 7 TIMES, AXLE SHAFT ONCE, PTU ASSEMBLY 3 TIMES THEY THINK THEY GOT IT FIXED THIS TIME, HAS NOT LEAKED IN 100 MILES. *TR
BURNING SMELL ORIGINATING FROM FAILED SEAL (NOW ON NATIONAL BACKORDER THIS PAST YEAR) IN PTU ASSEMBLY ON MOST FORD EDGE AND MERCURY MKX MODELS. I'VE HAD MY VEHICLE IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR AND THEY DO NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT PTU ASSEMBLIES IN STOCK AS THE COMPANY WHO MADE THEM ARE NOW OUT OF BUSINESS. TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKS FROM PTU ASSEMBLY ONTO EXHAUST, INTO VENTS AND INTO OUR LUNGS. VEHICLE IS STILL IN THE SERVICE AREA AT MIDWAY FORD IN ROSEVILLE, MN. THEY SAY I CAN DRIVE IT UNTIL THEY FIND A PART, HOWEVER IT IS WINTER AND THAT IS NOT AN OPTION AS THE WINDOWS MUST REMAIN OPEN. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH OUR 2007 FORD EDGE I TOOK IT IN THEY SPRAYED SOME KIND OF SEALANT ON THE BRACKETS AND I DON'T GET THE RUST STAINS ANY MORE (THE AC WAS DRIPPING ON THE BRACKETS AND CAUSING RUST STAINS.) *TR
I HAVE A 2007 FORD EDGE AND HAVE HAD TWO BLOWOUTS ON THE HIGHWAY. BOTH CAUSED BY A FAULTY VALVE STEM. *TR
HEARD NOISES WHEN BRAKING UP,BRAKE PEDAL SPONGE,PUMP BRAKE PEDAL A COUPLE TIMES TO GET SOLID BRAKING. *TR
POWER TRANSFER UNIT LEAKING ONTO EXHAUST CAUSING A BURNING RUBBER SMELL INTO THE CABIN WHEN STOPPED. OCCURS AFTER DRIVING VEHICLE FOR 10-15MIN. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP SEALS REPLACED APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS AGO(12-8-08). SMELL RESOLVED. YESTERDAY SMELL RETURNED (12-22-08). BELIEVE SMELL IS FROM LEAKING SEALS AGAIN. LEAKING ONTO EXHAUST GIVING OFF BURNING RUBBER SMELL/FUMES INTO THE CABIN AREA. SOMEWHAT OF A NOXIOUS SMELL, VERY PUTRID. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR DISINTEGRATED INSIDE THE RIGHT REAR TIRE WHICH CAUSED THE TIRE TO BE OFF BALANCE. THE REMAINING THREE TIRES HAVE NOT BEEN AFFECTED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TIRES ARE NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
FLAT TIRE WITH MY 2007 FORD EDGE. SAME VALVE WAS REPLACED EARLIER THIS YEAR. FLAT AGAIN, FORD DEALERSHIP WANTS ME TO REPLACE TIRE. VALVE WAS CAUSE OF FLAT. TIRE IS HANKOOK DYNAPRO AS// DOT 5M7C DJNH// P235 65R17103T. SAME COMPLAINTS AS ON INTERNET. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE VEHICLE AND ALL OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED OUT. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE OIL SEAL ON THE TRANSMISSION. A FEW DAYS LATER, HE SMELLED TRANSMISSION FLUID BURNING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE SEAL ONCE AGAIN; HOWEVER, THE BURNING ODOR IS STILL PRESENT. HE BELIEVES THAT THIS IS A HEALTH HAZARD AND THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
THREE VALVE STEMS HAVE GONE BAD ON OUR 2007 FOR EDGE IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS. FORD REFUSES TO CHANGE REMAINING STEMS UNTIL A LEAK OCCURS. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 FORD EDGE AWD. AROUND 15,000 MILES, IT BEGAN TO HAVE A "BURNED RUBBER" SMELL WAFT INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WHENEVER I CAME TO A STOP AFTER DRIVING FOR AWHILE. SOMETIMES I COULD SEE SMOKE SIFT UP THROUGH THE HOOD NEAR THE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALER FOUND THE PTU VALVE (POWER TRANSFER UNIT) TO BE LEAKING, AND I THINK THEY CHANGED IT. IT WORKED FOR AWHILE, BUT WITHIN 4 MONTHS, IT BEGAN TO SMELL AGAIN. IT WAS NOT TOO BAD BECAUSE IT WAS SPRING AND SUMMER AND THE PROBLEM IS ONLY REALLY BAD DURING THE WINTER WHEN THE HEATER IS ON. IT'S NOW OCTOBER 2009, AND I'M USING THE HEATER AGAIN. THE SMELL WAS BAD, SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AGAIN. THEY SAID GREASE WAS PACKED INTO THE VALVE, AND THE GREASE HAD OVERFLOWED. THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE PTU VALVE. THEY ONLY STEAM CLEANED MY CAR. IT STILL SMELLS, ALTHOUGH NOT AS BAD. I HAVE 35,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND I'VE OWNED IT FOR 1.5 YEARS BRAND NEW. THE INTERNET HAS REVEALED THAT MANY FORDEDGE OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING, BUT FORD CAN'T SEEM TO FIX IT. IT IS ONLY ON AWD MODELS BECAUSE THE FLUID THAT IS LEAKING INVOLVES THE TRANSFER OF POWER TO THE BACK TIRES. THERE IS A WEBSITE DEDICATED SOLELY TO THIS PROBLEM: STINKINEDGE.COM PLEASE HELP US CONVINCE FORD THIS IS A DEFECT INVOLVING A NOXIOUS SMELL AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CHEMICAL EXPOSURE. I HAVE A 2007 FORD EDGE. I HAVE HAD BRAKE PROBLEMS EVER SINCE I BOUGHT IT. BY BRAKE PROBLEMS, I MEAN THEY SOMETIMES GRIND AND SOMETIMES FEEL LIKE I CAN'T STOP AS WELL AS I SHOULD BE ABLE TO. I HAD THEM CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE FINE. I FINALLY HAD THEM REPLACED BUT THEY STILL GRIND AT TIMES. I'VE LEARNED TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM. I'VE ALSO EXPERIENCED A LOUD ROARING NOISE. I'M NOT SURE WHAT THIS IS BUT I'VE ALSO LEARNED TO DEAL WITH IT AS WELL. EVERYTIME SOMEONE RIDES WITH ME THEY ASK WHAT THE NOISE IS AND TELL ME IT SOUNDS LIKE MY CAR HAS NOT SHIFTED INTO THE RIGHT GEAR. THE MAJOR PROBLEM I HAVE DEALT WITH IS THE JERKING TRANSMISSION. IT STARTED THIS ABOUT A YEAR AFTER BUYING IT. IT STARTED DOING IT A FEW TIMES HERE AND THERE UNTIL IT GOT TO WHERE IT DID IT ALL THE TIME. I HAD MENTIONED IT WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO GET THE OIL CHANGED BUT THEY ALWAYS TOLD ME THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I FINALLY TOLD THEM THEY HAD TO DO SOMETHING. THEY KEPT IT FOR A FEW DAYS AND FINALLY CALLED AND SAID THE VALVE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. LUCKILY IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THEY REPLACED IT AND IT WAS FINE UP UNTIL SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. IT STARTED THE JERKING ALL OVER AGAIN. IT STARTED OUT SLOW BUT NOW DOES IT ALL THE TIME. I CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED AGAIN AS IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANY LONGER. IT'S STILL ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND SHOULD NOT BE HAVING ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS. I AM REALLY SURPRISED THERE HAVE BEEN NO RECALLS AS I'VE READ OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I AM VERY UPSET AS I STILL OWE ON THIS VEHICLE BUT REALLY WISH I COULD GET RID OF IT. I HAVE NEVER HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH A VEHICLE....EVEN A CAR I BOUGHT THAT WAS FOUR YEARS OLD.....IT WAS A TOYOTA....GUESS I SHOULD HAVE NEVER WENT TO A FORD! *TR
IN SEPT. WE NOTICED THAT WE WERE LOSING AIR IN OUR TIRES, UPON CLOSER LOOK WE DISCOVERED THAT THE VALVE STEMS WERE CRACKED AROUND THE BOTTOM. WE TOOK THE CAR INTO OUR NEAREST FORD DEALER AND AT A COST OF $42.39 THEY PUT FOUR NEW TIRE VALVE STEMS ON. *TR
TOOK MY CAR IN TO HAVE MY TIRES ROTATED AND NOTICED THAT THE STEM ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS TORN, NEARLY ERODING OFF. HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW TIRE TO AVOID A POSSIBLE FUTURE ACCIDENT. I SAW ON THE NEWS THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH MOST 2007 FORDS, SO I'M CONTRIBUTING MY INCIDENT. *TR
MY TIRE VALVE STEMS WERE CRACKED AND LEAKING ON ALL FOUR TIRES OF MY 2007 FORD EDGE AND THE TIRE PRESSURE DROPPED DRAMATICALLY IN ONE DAY. WHEN I CALLED MY FORD DEALER THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. I HAD TO HAVE THE VALVE STEMS REPLACED ON TWO TIRES AND REPLACE TWO ENTIRE TIRES AT MY OWN EXPENSE. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 FORD EDGE WITH PERSISTING PULSATING BRAKE PROBLEM. THE BRAKES MAKE A GRINGING NOISE. I HAVE BROUGHT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP ABOUT 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS AND THEY STATE THAT THE SOUND AND GRIND IS "NORMAL" AND NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT THE FIRST TIME AS THE CAR DELAYS, KICKS BACK, THEN USUALLY THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON. THIS OCCURS USUALLY WHEN MAKING TURNS OR GOING UP A HILL. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON I-35 THE LEFT FRONT TIRE SUDDENLY LOST AIR PRESSURE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. UPON INSPECTION OF TIRE, NO DAMAGE OTHER THAN WHAT WAS INFLICTED FROM THE EVENT OF TRAVELING AT 70MPH WHILE FLAT WAS FOUND. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE VALVE STEM FAILED. IT WAS CRACKED AT THE BASE ALLOWING A SUDDEN LOSS OF TIRE PRESSURE. THE OTHER VALVE STEMS ON THE CAR ARE ALSO CRACKED AT THE BASE BUT NOT COMPLETELY FAILED YET. *TR
MY 2007 SENSOR DETECTED LOW PRESSURE. (PLEASE NOTE: I TOOK MY CAR TO BEACH FORD 757--486-2717 LAST WEEK AND REQUESTED THEY CHANGE OUT ALL OF THE VALVES-------THEY CHANGED OUT ONLY THE FLAT ONE AND ONLY PUT NEW CAPS ON THE OTHERS!!!!) MY CONCERN IS THEY MAY HAVE DONE THIS WITH OTHER CONSUMERS. I DROVE FROM VIRGINIA BEACH TO WASH. DC ON SUNDAY. ON I95 AVERAGING 65-80 MPH. THE INCONVENIENCE OF SPENDING YESTERDAY AT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN IS NOTHING IN COMPARISON TO THE IMPACT OF LOSING MY LIFE LIKE THE MAN IN FLORIDA DUE TO A FAULTY VALVE. TO DATE: REAR PASSENGER WENT BAD. REPLACED BY NON DEALER (PAUL'S AUTO) FRONT DRIVER'S TIRE LAST WEEK BACK DRIVER'S TIRE YESTERDAY. (I WATCHED YESTERDAY TO ENSURE THEY CHANGED OUT THE REMAINING ONE. *TR
TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON DASHBOARD. PULLED OFF HIGHWAY AND TIRE WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY FLAT INSTANTLY. FOUND THAT THE LEFT FRONT VALVE STEM WAS CRACKED AND FAULTY. AS OF 7/7/2009; ALL FOUR VALVE STEMS HAVE GONE BAD AND BEEN REPLACED. *TR

VALVE STEMS WERE LEAKING..CONTINUALLY..REPLACED ALL FIVE OF THEM. *TR
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL NOT HOLD VEHICLE IN PLACE ON EVEN SLIGHT INCLINE. I.E. VEHICLE IN DRIVE FACING UPHILL WHEN STOPPED AND BRAKE RELEASED VEHICLE WILL ROLL BACKWARD DOWN HILL. VEHICLE FACING DOWNHILL WITH TRANSMISSION IN REVERSE WILL ROLL FORWARD WHEN BRAKE IS RELEASED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS TECH INTERNATIONAL VALVE STEMS, MODEL TR413. ON JULY 16, 2008, WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE TIRES BLEW OUT. THE CONTACT MOVED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND REPLACED THE TIRE WITH A SPARE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DISCOUNT TIRE AND THE MECHANIC INFORMED HIM THAT ALL FOUR OF THE VALVE STEMS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE MECHANIC ALSO STATED THAT THE VALVE STEMS WERE INCLUDED IN A RECALL. TECH INTERNATIONAL STATED THAT THEY WOULD ONLY REIMBURSE THE CONTACT FOR REPAIRING THE TIRES IF THEY HAD BEEN REPLACED INSTEAD OF THE ORIGINALS. THEY ADVISED HIM TO CONTACT FORD. FORD CONFIRMED THAT THEY WERE THE ORIGINAL TIRES AND WOULD BE UNABLE TO REIMBURSE HIM BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT THE MANUFACTURERS OF THE TIRES. THE TIRE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REIMBURSE HIM BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT THE MANUFACTURERS OF THE VALVE STEM. THE SERIAL AND PART NUMBERS WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
VEHICLE ENGINEERING DEFECT. DASH BOARD GLARE INTO WINDSHIELD IS DISTRACTING AND AT TIMES OBSCURES VISION. VERY UNUSUAL AND EXCESSIVE. FORD FEELS IT MEETS ALL STANDARDS. I DO NOT BELIEVE THEY HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR ON A SUNNY DAY. *TR
I OWN A 2007 FORD EDGE. I SHOVED A PLASTIC ICE SCRAPER BETWEEN THE DASH AND THE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED. CLEARLY, THE WINDSHIELD SHOULD WITHSTAND THE IMPACT OF A PLASTIC ICE SCRAPER.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT CALIPER CAUSED WEAR AND TEAR TO THE FRONT ROTOR AND BRAKE PAD DUE TO THE CALIPERS GRINDING ON THEM. HE STATED THAT THE LEFT REAR CALIPERS WERE REPLACED IN 2008. FORD WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 26,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECURRING FAILURE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES WITHIN A SHORT TIME FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ALL EACH TIME. THE CONTACT WAS NOT AWARE OF WHAT CAUSED THE RECURRING FAILURE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 FORD EDGE THAT WILL SOME TIMES BANG, (VERY HARD!) WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR ALL ON ITS OWN. I HAVE HERD OF OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. ALL WERE TOLD, "WE COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. IS FORD TRYING TO DODGE A BULLET? NOTHING WAS DONE. *TR
ON THE WAY TO WORK IN MY NEW CAR, SIGNAL WENT OFF FOR LOW TIRE PRESSURE. TOOK TO A TIRE PLACE AND THE VALVE STEM WAS LEAKING AIR AT THE POINT OF THE JOIN OF THE TIRE. I HAVE NEVER IN ALL MY YEARS OF DRIVING EXPERIENCED SUCH A THING. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2007 FORD EDGE SEL PLUS, AND 6 MONTHS LATER I KEPT GETTING A LOW PRESSURE MESSAGE. I WOULD REFILL THE TIRE AND A DAY LATER IT WAS LOW. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AND THE VALVE STEM WAS BROKEN, AS WELL AS 3 OTHER CRACKED VALVE STEMS. THEY REPLACED THEM ALL BUT CHARGED ME A DISCOUNTED RATE OF $65 FOR THE LABOR. FORD REFUSED TO COVER IT, AND I HAD VERY LOW MILES ON THE CAR. THIS WAS FRIGHTENING, KNOWING THIS WAS THE PROBLEM WITH THE EXPLORER IN THE 1990'S. *TR
2007 FORD EDGE,CONTINUALLY DRIFTS TO THE RIGHT, ON ALL ROAD SURFACES . I HAVE HAD IT BACK TO THE DEALER 2 TIMES FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND ONCE FOR THE COMPLAINT. THE DEALER TELLS ME IT'S AN EVIDENT PROBLEM WITH THE EDGE . BECAUSE I HAVE 18" TIRES CONTRIBUTES TO THE PROBLEM AND I SHOULD TRY CHANGING THE TIRES IT MIGHT CORRECT IT A LITTLE. *TR
TAIL LIGHTS MELTING, PLEASE SEARCH FORD EDGE FORUM SO YOU CAN SEE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE. ALSO MELTING BLINKER BULBS. *TR
THIS VEHICLE HAS A COUPLE OF PROBLEMS I AM CONCERNED ABOUT. FIRST, WHEN YOU ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS, REACH SPEEDS OF 30+ MILES PER HOUR, THEN TRY TO ROLL THE WINDOWS UP, IT CREATES A TERRIBLE VACUUM PRESSURE INSIDE OF THE CAR. THIS PRESSURE ALWAYS MAKES MY EARS HURT, AND I BELIEVE MAY BE DAMAGING MY EARDRUMS. I FIND IT DISTURBING THAT AS A CONSUMER, I CAN NOT ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS OF MY CAR IN ACCLIMATE WEATHER, BECAUSE OF THE PRESSURE THAT IS CREATED INSIDE OF THE CAR WHEN I DO SO. ALSO, I DON'T KNOW IF OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT THIS CAR IS A SHOCK HAZARD. I AM CONSTANTLY GETTING SHOCKED EVERY TIME I CLOSE THE DOOR OF THIS CAR. IT IS A CONCERN, AND I ALWAYS WORRY THAT WHEN I GO TO A GAS STATION IT WILL CREATE A SPARK (GOD-FORBID). I HAVE NO CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY, BUT I HAVE EVERY INTENTION ON DOING SO. RIGHT NOW, I HAVE A LAUNDRY LIST OF ISSUES, BUT NONE AS MAJOR, IN MY OPINION, AS THESE. I THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME. I WAS DRIVING, AND WHEN I WENT TO PRESS ON MY BRAKES, THEY WERE PULSATING, BECAUSE YOU COULD FEEL THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM KICKING IN. THE CAR SEEMED LIKE IT DIDN'T WANT TO STOP. AFTER I STOPPED, THE ABS AND TRACTION-CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON IN THE CAR, AND THEY HAVE BEEN ON EVERY SINCE. I HAVE AN APPT. FOR A REPAIR AT THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. WHEN THE EDGE IS IN DRIVE AND STOPPED ON AN INCLINE IT WILL ROLL BACKWARD WHEN YOU RELEASE THE BRAKE. IT DOESN'T JUST ROLL BACK A LITTLE....IT WILL CONTINUE TO ROLL BACK UNTIL YOU GIVE IT SOME GAS OR STEP ON THE BRAKE. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I ALMOST ROLLED BACK INTO THE CAR BEHIND ME. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS ROLLBACK IN AN AUTOMATIC VEHICLE. I READ ON THE INTERNET THAT THERE WAS A TSB FOR THIS AND TOOK MY EDGE IN TO HAVE IT "REFLASHED" (AS RECOMMENDED ON A FORD EDGE FORUM) BUT WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THERE WAS NO FIX (AND NO SUCH TSB) FOR IT AND THAT THIS IS NORMAL. I FEEL IT IS A DANGER AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED OR AT THE VERY LEAST MENTIONED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. *TR
WE PURCHASED OUR 2007 FORD EDGE ON APRIL 18TH 2008 AT THAT TIME THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON...THE DEALER REPLACED THE SENSORS. ON MAY 2ND WE TOOK IT BACK INTO OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR THE LIGHT WAS BACK ON AGAIN. THEY REPLACED THE CORRECT SENSOR AND IT MADE IT UNTIL OCTOBER WHEN THE LIGHT WAS BACK ON FOR THE THIRD TIME SINCE WE OWNED THE VEHICLE. THIS TIME THEY REPLACED ANOTHER SENSOR AND WORKED ON THE SUNROOF FOR IT WAS NOT CLOSING RIGHT. IN NOVEMBER 2008 THE LIGHT WAS BACK ON AGAIN AND THIS TIME WIRING WAS REPLACED. THREE WEEKS LATER THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN CIRCUITS WERE CHECKED FOR SHORTS? THEN IN JUNE 2009 THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS BACK ON AND THIS TIME FLICKERS ON AND OFF. THEY INSTALLED A NEW RMC, ANOTHER SENSOR AND THE RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE. DECEMBER 3RD WE TOOK IT BACK TO OUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITH THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON FOR THE 7TH TIME NOW, AND THE FORD HOTLINE HAD THEM CHECKING ALL CRASH SENSORS, THE RIGHT AXEL SEAL WAS LEAKING OIL AS WELL AND THE PART WAS ORDERED TO FIX. TOOK THE CAR BACK ON THE 16TH AND THEY SUPPOSEDLY "FIXED" ALL PROBLEMS! TWO DAYS LATER THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS BACK ON FOR THE 8TH TIME AND FORD HAS HAD MY CAR SINCE THEN. IT IS NOW JANUARY 2010 AND THEY STILL ARE WORKING ON THE AIR BAG ISSUE..HEADQUARTERS HAS BEEN CONTACTED BUT DOESN'T SEEM TO DO US ANY GOOD. THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND WE WERE TOLD THAT IT FINALLY SOLVED THE PROBLEM BUT AN HOUR LATER WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATING THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON FOR THE 9TH TIME NOW AND IS CURRENTLY AWAITING ANOTHER PART TO BE REPLACED! THIS TO US IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS SOME ATTENTION! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THE BRAKES AND POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING AS WELL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE ALSO SHUT OFF WHILE IDLING IN THE DRIVEWAY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS PRIOR TO THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE IS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
MY WIFE AND I BOTH DRIVE FORD EDGE CROSSOVER SUV'S. BOTH CARS HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM. WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING SLOWLY & GOT TO PUT ON THE BRAKES, THE BRAKES MAKE A TERRIBLE LOUD GRABBING NOISE & THE CAR KIND OF SKIPS TO A STOP. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE, BUT FORD REFUSES TO DO A RECALL. THE FORD SERVICE REP. AT THE DEALERSHIP I GO TO IS TRYING TO TELL ME THAT THIS IS HOW THE BRAKES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE. THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS AND SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE. WE HAD ANOTHER FORD EDGE THAT WAS DESTROYED IN A REAR END COLLISION & IT ALSO HAD THE SAME BRAKE PROBLEM. THREE FOR THREE IS NOT A GOOD THING. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED OR TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,600 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,600.

A TECHNICIAN FROM THE DEALER CONCLUDED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. HE PURCHASED A DARKER PIECE OF MATERIAL FROM WALMART THAT REMEDIED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
2007 EDGE THAT WAS PURCHASED 6 MONTHS AGO FROM GALPIN FORD, NO MATTER IF THEY ARE REPAIRED, PARTS WERE REPLACED OR NOT, THE PROBLEMS ARE ON-GOING, THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BROKE,THE ROLLERS ON THE WINDOWS ARE MALFUNCTIONING, THE FRONT BRAKES WENT OUT AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP AT A 4 WAY STOP, THE BRAKES HAD CORRODED, THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED, THE ROTORS WERE CHECKED AS WELL, THE BACK TAIL LIGHTS WILL FILL UP WITH WATER ONCE THE CAR IS WASHED OR IF IT RAINS, THOSE BACK LIGHTS WERE REPLACED,THE SAME PROBLEMS 4 TIMES ALREADY, THE INSEAM FROM THE MOON ROOF COLLAPSED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ONE DAY IT WAS REPLACED, NOW IT HAS SOME HOLES COMING IN THE MATERIAL, IF YOU SHOULD LOOK UP AT IT IN THE SUN, THE SCREWS ON THE FLOOR IN THE BACK SEAT AREA ARE A SAFETY HAZARDS, THE MOST DANGEROUS IS THE GEAR SHIFT PINS WILL LOCK AND IT WILL NOT ALLOW THE GEARS SHIFTS PINS ARE NOT RELEASING PROPERLY THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY A MALFUNCTION; OKAY, THIS IS THE MOST FRIGHTENING TO ME AS WELL AS THE BRAKES, YOU CANNOT JUDGE WHEN THIS IS GOING TO OCCUR IT WILL HAPPEN AT A MOMENTS NOTICE, SOMETIMES EVERYDAY, SOMETIMES ONCE PER DAY, SOMETIME IT WILL NOT OCCUR AND OTHER TIMES, YOU ARE DUCKING A DODGING OTHER CARS AND HOPING AND PRAYING THAT THEY DON'T HIT YOU, THIS IS A CRIME, MY LIFE IS ENDANGERED AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, I HAVE CALLED ONE OF FORDS REPRESENTATIVES SHE ACTUALLY WORKS FOR FORD AND REFUSED TO MEET WITH TO GO OVER MY CONCERNS IN REFERENCE TO MY CAR AND SHE DID NOT GIVE ME THE TIME OF DAY, THEY REALLY COULD CARE LESS, THEY WOULD MUCH RATHER I DISAPPEAR FROM THE FACE OF THIS EARTH. 2007 FORD EDGE WITH FACTORY VISTA ROOF (MOON ROOF). VISTA ROOF SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. NO TRAFFIC AROUND, NOTHING HIT THE SUNROOF, IT JUST COMPLETELY SHATTERED. LUCKILY I HAD THE SHADE CLOSED OR MY WIFE AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT LASCO FORD IN FENTON MICHIGAN BELIEVED IT WAS DUE TO THE EXTREME COLD OUTSIDE MIXED WITH THE WARM AIR INSIDE. THEY COULD NOT GET FORD TO COVER THE DEFECT, THOUGH, AS THEY HAVEN'T HAD A PROBLEM YET WITH THE VISTA ROOF. I HAD TO FILE AN INSURANCE CLAIM. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND FORD NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE SERIOUSLY GETS INJURED. *TR

I FEEL I WAS SOLD A LEMON AND FORD DOES NOT WANT TO DO WARRANTY WORK. . THE BOLTS IN THE SEAT WERE VISIBLE AND INJURED ONE OF THE PASSENGERS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SCREWS AND COVERED THEM WITH A RUBBER SEAL; HOWEVER, THEY CONTINUE TO FALL OFF AND EXPOSE THE SCREWS. AT 150 MILES, THE LINING IN THE MOONROOF FELL OFF OF THE VEHICLE AND WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. SIX MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD GRINDING SOUND WHEN HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE CORRODED. THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED AND THE ROTORS WERE CLEANED. THE FRONT AND REAR WINDOWS DO NOT GRIP OR SEAL PROPERLY WHEN THEY ARE ROLLED UP OR DOWN. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE WINDOW FAILURE ON FOUR OCCASIONS AND EVENTUALLY STATED THAT THEY HAD TO CHANGE THE PAPER ON THE ROLLERS. THE TWO REAR EXTERIOR LIGHTS CONTINUE TO FILL UP WITH WATER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE ON THREE OCCASIONS AND REPLACED THE TAIL LIGHTS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THERE SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FAILURE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE GEAR SHIFT FAILED TO ENGAGE IN PARK, DRIVE, AND REVERSE. A PASSENGER HAD TO STOP TRAFFIC SINCE THE GEAR SHIFT WAS LOCKED IN REVERSE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON FEBRUARY 20, 2008; HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE EARLIEST THEY COULD SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WOULD BE ON MARCH 1, 2008. THE FAILURE OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY AND HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP EVERY OTHER WEEK SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED. THE CONTACT IS THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THE DEALER HAS OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE IN REPLACING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO ONLY HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED BY A DEALER THAT IS ONE OR MORE HOURS AWAY FROM HER RESIDENCE.
