VEHICLE STALLED WHILE REVERSING INTO A PARKING SPOT. BARELY STARTED. STALLED A FEW SECONDS LATER AFTER COMPLETING THE REVERSE INTO PARKING SPOT. BARELY STARTED AGAIN. GOT ON THE ROAD AND DRIVING FINE A FEW HUNDRED FEET, VEHICLE STALLED ALMOST RAN INTO A GROUP OF PARKED VEHICLES. BARELY STARTED AGAIN. MADE IT TO THE HIGHWAY TO GO HOME AND WHILE DRIVING AT JUST UNDER 55MPH LIMIT VEHICLE STALLS IN THE PASSING LANE. ALMOST CAUSED A WRECK WITH SEVERAL VEHICLES INCLUDING A SEMI. DIDN'T START FOR A FEW MINUTES. VEHICLE STUTTERED TO START AND BARELY TURNED OVER. AFTER IT STARTED I SAT THERE AND WATCHED THE TACHOMETER, IT WOULD, WITHOUT MYSELF TOUCHING OR DOING ANYTHING, IDLE THEN JUMP A LITTLE AND DIP A LITTLE OVER AND OVER. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO CERTAIN SITUATION OR REASONING FOR WHEN, WHERE OR WHY IT WOULD STALL, COMPLETE RANDOMNESS! HIGHWAY DRIVING, SLOW STOP AND GO CITY DRIVING, REVERSING, IT SEEMS TO DO IT COMPLETELY RANDOMLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY BUT ALWAYS WHILE MOVING ONE DIRECTION OR THE OTHER. STRAIGHT LINE, TURNING, FAST, SLOW, DIDN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE. FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, CAME INTO TOWN AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP AT ALL THE LIGHTS AND GO BUT THEN OUT OF NO WHERE AGAIN DOING CLOSE TO THE 35MPH LIMIT IT STALLS AGAIN AND THIS TIME I WAS AT A 6 WAY INTERSECTION AND ALMOST HIT ANOTHER MOVING VEHICLE. MY FAMILY WILL NOT BE RIDING IN THIS VEHICLE AGAIN UNTIL SOMETHING IS DONE! THIS IS NOT NORMAL OR SAFE! NOT FOR ME OR ANYONE ELSE ON THE ROADWAY! I HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT THE ISSUE COULD BE EXCEPT THAT IT'S THE MANUFACTURERS ISSUE. IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SINCE. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN WRECKED, ABOVE AVERAGE MAINTENANCE INTERVALS, COMPLETELY MAINTAINED BUT THIS IS SOMETHING MORE THAN REGULAR 'WEAR AND TEAR' AS ONE WOULD SAY. NOT SAFE AT ALL!! COULD HAVE KILLED MYSELF, MY FAMILY OR SOMEONE ELSE WITH THIS PROBLEM!! NEEDS ATTENTION ASAP! EXTREMELY UNSAFE!
TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY HESITATED IN SHIFTING
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE SPEEDOMETER DROPS TO 0, WRENCH LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHT TURNS ON. CAR LOSSES POWER AND KEEPS RUNNING. TO MOVE AT ALL REQUIRES REVING THE ENGINE TO VERY HIGH RPMS
My brother was in an accident in my 2008 ford edge and the air bags in the steering wheel and front passenger did not depoly. The car was totaled and sent to a junk yard.
MY AIR BAG AND WRENCH LIGHT COME ON AT SAME TIME MY DASH GOES BLANK AND I LOOSE ALL POWER IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES .
REAR TAIL LIGHT BULBS ARE MELTING, SEVERAL TIMES NOW, AFTER DOING RESEARCH IT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING TO A LOT OF PEOPLE, SO I SEE IT AS A SAFETY ISSUE. MY TURN SIGNAL WENT OUT AND WENT TO REPLACE IT AND DISCOVERED THE BULB WAS MELTED INTO THE SOCKET. (THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES NOW, I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE. (IT MAY BE A FACTORY ELECTRICAL DESIGN FLUKE)ALSO IVE BEGAN TO LOSE GAS ANDVIT IS NOT REMAINING IN THE GAS TANK. IT HAS CAUSED MY GAS LIGHT TO COME ON. WHICH TRIGGERED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON AS WELL. THIS HAPPENED ON OR ABOUT 12/15/2020. THEN THE BEARINGS AN BEGAN TO SHAKE AND WOBBLE BADLY. FROM THE CONTAMINATES AMD SALTS. I AM REALLY HAVING DIFFICULTIES WITH MY VEHICLE AND IM IN MEED OF HELP BADLY. NOW AS OF 1/5/2021 MY CAR HAS STARTED TO FISH TAIL SHOWING THE SWAY BAR IS GIVING OUT
IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE ARE TOXIC FUMES AND FUEL LEAKAGE COMING FROM THE FUEL TANK AREA. MOST PREVALENT WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS FULL. NOTICED WHILE IN TRANSIT OR WHILE STATIONARY. DANGEROUS INHILATION TO PASSENGERS IN OR AROUND THE VEHICLE HAS CAUSED HEADACHES AND LABORED BREATHING. THIS ERROR WAS OCCURRING IN PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS AND OPENING THE EARLIER RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM IS NECESSARY FOR SAFETY AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. DIRECT CONTACT WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS NOT PERFECTED A SOLUTION TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM.

I HAVE A 2008 FORD EDGE WITH A GAS TANK LEAK, THE GAS TANK NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE INSIDE BEING COMPLETELY RUSTED AND EROSION. THERE IS A RECALL 14V682000 - HOWEVER MY VEHICLE IS NOT A PART OF THIS RECALL ALTHOUGH IT WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED IN CONNECTICUT, IT WAS BUILT AT THE OAKVILLE ASSEMBLY PLANT. I WAS INFORMED BY FORD THAT IT MAY BE INCLUDED AT A LATER DATE. THAT IS NOT HELPING ME WHEN MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF SERVICE NOW AND HAS TO BE FIXED.
I HAVE RECEIVED MANY NOTICES TO SCHEDULE A RECALL FOR THE AIR BAGS, HAVE TALKED TO ONE PERSON 5 MONTHS AGO AND TRIED CALLING THE NUMBER BUT NO ANSWER. THE PROBLEM IS WE HAVE NO FORD DEALERSHIP IN KETCHIKAN ALASKA AND NO FERRY SERVICE AT THE MOMENT. THERE IS NO WAY I CAN GET MY VEHICLE ANYWHERE BUT NEED THIS TAKEN CARE OF, SI PLEASE RESPOND WITH SOME SUGGESTIONS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CEASED TO OPERATE, THE HEADLAMPS FAILED TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY DECELERATED WITH THE AIR BAGS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER FOR SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE DRIVING TO AN AUTO ZONE STORE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. THERE WAS NO DTC CODES RETRIEVED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000. *TR
ON JUNE 3, 2020 MY 2008 FORD EDGE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY 5 LANE HIGHWAY WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN INJURY OR DEATH. THANKFULLY, MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROADWAY. IT WAS THEN TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS LEADING UP TO THIS TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE CAR WAS WELL MAINTAINED PRIMARILY THROUGH A FORD DEALERSHIP AND CERTIFIED MECHANICS. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 96000 ORIGINAL MILES. AFTER A SHORT INTERNET SEARCH, IT BECAME PAINFULLY OBVIOUS THAT THIS WAS A WELL DOCUMENTED SHORTCOMING OF THE 2008 FORD EDGE. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHO VERIFIED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE WITH THE 2008 EDGE, "BUT FORD HAS NOT RECALLED IT YET". I THEN CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY ON JUNE 5TH WHO ALSO ADMITTED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF SUDDEN TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN THE 2008 EDGE BUT HAVE NOT RECALLED THEM AS OF THIS TIME. THIS IS A SERIOUS, POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING MANUFACTURE DEFECT THAT IS BEING IGNORED BY THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY. IT IS ALSO COSTLY TO THE CONSUMER. ESTIMATED COST TO REPAIR THIS THROUGH FORD WITH A REBUILT TRANSMISSION IS OVER $5000. PRIOR TO THIS EPISODE, WE WERE PLEASED WITH THIS VEHICLE. HOWEVER, WE NOW QUESTION THE MORAL DECISION MAKING BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY IN CHOOSING TO IGNORE THIS POTENTIAL LIFE THREATENING MANUFACTURE DEFECT. I SUGGEST THAT THERE BE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL AND REIMBURSEMENT TO CUSTOMERS FOR TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN THE 2008 FORD EDGE.
THE WINDSHIELD IS SET AT SUCH AN ANGLE THAT THE DASHBOARD IS REFLECTED ON TO IT. IT'S DISTRACTING, AND ANNOYING. I GET AROUND THE ISSUE BY WEARING SUNGLASSES. I DON'T USUALLY NEED THEM OTHERWISE. *TR
RIGHT AFTER I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT IT HAD A BAD JERK, AND CHUGGING IN THE TRANSMISSION. WITH THE OVERDRIVE "OFF", IT KEEPS THE RPM'S ABOVE 2000, AND PREVENTS IT FROM CHUGGING AND JERKING IN THE TRANSMISSION. WITH THE OVERDRIVE ON IT GEARS DOWN EXTREMELY LOW AFTER GOING DOWN TO 2000 RPM'S, AND LOSSES A LOT OF POWER. WHEN PRESSING DOWN THE GAS PEDAL, IT CHUGS AND JERKS SEVERELY. I HAVE TO LET OFF THE GAS AND THEN REAPPLY THE GAS TO STOP IT FROM JERKING. ALSO, THE POWER STEERING POPS AND MAKES NOISES. I GOT IN THE CAR TODAY AND HAD NO BRAKE POWER AT ALL. THEN HAD NO BRAKES UNLESS I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN WITH EXTREME FORCE. AND IT WAS STILL EXTREMELY HARD TO STOP MY VEHICLE. UPON SEARCHING ONLINE, I AM FINDING THAT THESE ARE VERY COMMON ISSUES WITH THE 2008 FORD EDGE VEHICLES. THERE SHOULD BE SOME TYPE OF RECALL ON THIS MODEL OF FORD EDGE WHEN THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM, IN MY OPINION. I DID A SEARCH FOR MY VIN NUMBER AND IT SHOWS "NO" RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE. I UNDERSTAND IT'D NOT A NEW VEHICLE, BUT THE AMOUNT OF ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE IS RIDICULOUS. PLEASE HELP!!! *TR
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET MY AIRBAG RECALL TAKEN CARE OF ON MY FORD EDGE FOR OVER A YEAR NOW, POSSIBLY TWO. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY FORD HAS ONLY IDENTIFIED ONE DEALERSHIP IN NORTHERN NEVADA AS AUTHORIZED TO DO THIS WORK. I BELIEVE THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL STARTED AROUND 2015 AND HERE WE ARE 5 YEARS LATER STILL STRUGGLING TO GET AIRBAGS REPLACED. I AM NEVER GOING TO BUY ANOTHER FORD AGAIN! OTHER MANUFACTURERS SEEM TO BE ABLE TO HELP THEIR CUSTOMERS IN A MUCH MORE EXPEDIENT MANNOR.

I ALSO LOST THE MILEAGE ON THE DASH AS WELL. AND THEN WHEN TRYING TO PULL INTO SOMEWHERE THAT HAS A SLIGHT HILL THE CAR WON'T GO FORWARD. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A COUPLE WEEKS
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY CAR JUST STOPPED. ODO ERROR CAME ON. PRESSED GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING. I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. AT DEALERSHIP NOW.
PCM MELTED 2 IGNITION COILS, HAD TO HAVE NEW COMPUTER INSTALLED $3000. ODOMETER WAS 55,000 APPROX.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COGGIN FORD JACKSONVILLE (9650 ATLANTIC BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32225 (904) 747-8996) FOR THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V682000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FUEL TANK WAS REPAIRED WITH A WAX SEAL. ONE MONTH LATER THE CONTACT NOTICED A LARGE FUEL LEAK FROM UNDER THE FUEL TANK. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER AND GOT A RETURN APPOINTMENT. THE DEALER TRIED TO CHARGE THE CONTACT $1,600 FOR THE FUEL TANK EVEN AFTER THE INITIAL RECALL REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER A 12 MONTH 12,000 MILE WARRANTY. THE DEALER REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT GOT A CASE FROM THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE RECALL WARRANTY. THE MANAGER AT CUSTOMER RELATIONS AT THE MANUFACTURER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THE ISSUE AND HUNG UP ON THE CONTACT. THE RESULT WAS THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR TWO WEEKS AND WAS STILL UNREPAIRED. THE CONTACT JUST SPOKE TO THE DEALER TODAY AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO REPLACEMENT FUEL TANK FOR THE REPAIRS AND TO COME TOW HIS VEHICLE AWAY AND FIX IT HIMSELF WITH A USED PART.

WHEN WERE DRIVING THE CAR IT LOSES POWER(THE TRACTION CONTROL JUST COMES ON FOR NO REASON) , WHEN WE GO ABOVE 70 OUR ABS LIGHT COMES ON, OUR BRAKES RANDOMLY JUST START GRINDING THEN THEY WILL STOP, WE HAVE REPLACED THE BREAKS LAST MONTH.
I HAD THE LIFT GATE OPEN LOADING GROCERIES AND IT ALL OF A SUDDEN RELEASED AND CAME DOWN AND STRIKING MY HEAD AND NECK AND I QUICKLY PUSHED IT BACK UP AND IT JUST DROPPED DOWN AGAIN BEFORE I COULD GET MYSELF CLEAR STRIKING ME AGAIN, IT GOT MY NECK AND SHOULDER. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS FIRST WAS TOLD IT WAS A PROBLEM FOR THE BODY SHOP, BUT THEY QUICKLY DETERMINED IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. THE LIFT GATE IS VERY HEAVY AND I DO HAVE TO SEE A DOCTOR FOR THE PERSISTENT PAIN IN THE NECK AND SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE GROCERY STORE.THERE WASN'T A VEHICLE ACCIDENT BUT I DID RECEIVE AN INJURY TO MY NECK AND SHOULDER, EXTENT TO BE DETERMINED.*DT CONSUMER STATED WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE STARTS TO SHAKE. BATTERY LIGHT STAYED ON DURING A 4.5 HOUR TRIP. AFTER REACHING THE END OF THE TRIP, THE BATTERY CABLES WERE FOUND TO BE CORRODED. NOTICED THETERMINAL PROTECTOR HAS MELTED. USED DISTILLED WATER TO FILL THE ACID LEVEL IN THE BATTERY, SOME WAS SPILLED ON THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE CONNECTION(FROM BATTERY TO POWER OF UNDERHOOD FUSE BOX), IT SIZZLED FROM BEING HOT! AFTER FILLING THE BATTERY, THE BATT. LIGHT STAYED OFF FOR ANOTHER 3 HOURS OF TRIP, AND LIT UP AGAIN. HAD THE BATTERY TESTED, BATTERY WAS FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE. R&R THE BATTERY, BATTERY LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. NO DRIVEABILITY ISSUES, JUST CONCERNED ABOUT, WHAT IS CAUSING RESISTANCE IN ELECTRICAL CHARGING SYSTEM, AND POSSIBLE "FIRE"!
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT LOSES THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND ONLY ALLOWS ME TO TRY TO PULL OFF THE ROAD TO A SAFE PLACE WITH THE MOMENTUM OF THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT LOST POWER. IT HAS HAPPENED IN VARIOUS WEATHER CONDITIONS AND AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. WHEN THE ACCELERATION IS LOST THE POWERTRAIN FAULT LIGHT COMES ON.
I WAS DRIVING TO MY MOTHERS HOUSE ON 11/10/19. WHOLE IS WAS DRIVING ON ROUTE 1A MY AIR BAG EXPLODED AND IT CAUSED ME TO CRASH AND IT TOTALED MY CAR. THE NEWS REPORTERS CAME TO THE SEEN IT AIRED FOR 2 DAYS ON CHANNEL 5 NEWS. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON MY AIR BAGS SINCE 2017 AND FORD DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS TO MY CAR TO FIX THE ISSUE THEY ALSO DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS IN 2018 AS WELL AND FORD JUST PLACE ANOTHER RECALL ON MY VECHILE AS WELL IN FEBRUARY 2019 FOR THE AIR BAGS AGAIN. THIS ISSUE ALMOST COST ME MY LIFE. THE TOWN THE ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE WAS IN WALPOLE, MA ON MAIN STREET.

IT SEEMS THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILS AND THE BRAKES DO NOT WORK!!! THE OTHER ISSUE I HAVE SEEN, HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT REAR TAIL LIGHTS BLOWING OUT AND WHEN CHANGING OUT THE BULBS, THE BULB SOCKETS ARE BURNT AND MELTED! MINE ARE THE SAME, BURNT UP AND MELTED. IT IS A FIRE HAZARD WAITING TO HAPPEN!!

THE INFORMATION PANEL LIT UP WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THE WRENCH, THE AIRBAG LIGHT, THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT AND DISPLAYED A MESSAGE: ODO DATA ERROR. THE ODOMETER/SPEEDOMETER FELL TO ZERO. I STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE NORMALLY, THEN A BIG CLUNKING SOUND AND FINALLY MOVED FORWARD. AFTER A NIGHT IN THE GARAGE, THE VEHICLE DROVE NORMALLY THE NEXT DAY AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE OFF. THEN ONE DAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN. TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEREFORE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING TO FIX. SINCE THAT TIME, IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND EACH TIME I PULL OFF THE ROAD, TURN THE ENGINE OFF, WAIT A LITTLE BIT, START THE ENGINE AGAIN AND PULL AWAY. THERE IS ALWAYS THE CLUNKING AND JERKING INTO GEAR. AFTER REVIEWING A FEW FORD ONLINE FORMS, I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE 2008 EDGE AND MAY BE ATTRIBUTED TO TWO SENSORS, THE SPEED OUTPUT AND TURBINE SENSORS. FOR SAFETY REASONS, I WILL ONLY DRIVE ON SURFACE STREETS BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN. SEEMS TO ME, FORD IS LIKELY AWARE OF THIS AND WOULD BE A SHAME IF SOMEONE GOT HURT. ONCE I HAVE COME TO A STOP, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY HARD LIKE SOMEONE HAS HIT THE VEHICLE. "TAKATA RECALL" I WAS DRIVING MY CHILD TO SCHOOL IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC, SPEEDS OF 55 MPH. THE CAR MILEAGE INDICATORS WENT BLANK, A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND ALL POWER TO CAR WAS LOST DURING TURNING A CURVE ON HIGHWAY.VEHICLE STARTED MAKING VERY LOUD POPPING NOISE AND JERKING THE CAR. TURNED CAR OFF AFTER COMING TO A STOP, RESTARTED CAR, NO WARNING LIGHTS, EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL EXCEPT, WHEN STARTING CAR, IT MADE VERY LOUD NOISE AS IT WAS STARTED, THEN AS I PLACED IN DRIVE OR REVERSE IT MOVED THE VEHICLE JERKING AN LOUD POPPING NOISE. OUR WATER PUMP ON OUR 2008 FORD EDGE LIMITED, SUFFERED A BREAKDOWN WHICH ALLOWED WATER TO ENTER THE ENGINE INTERNALLY. THE WATER MIXED WITH THE OIL INSIDE THE ENGINE CAUSING A COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. WE WERE INFORMED IT WOULD COST $7,800.00 TO INSTALL A NEW FORD ENGINE. AT THE TIME OF ENGINE FAILURE THE ODOMETER SHOWED 105,000 MILES. THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN IN TOWN AT A SPEED OF 35 MILES PER HOUR IN THE MONTH OF AUGUST, 2019. I NOTICED THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS BLOWING HOT AIR SO I GLANCED AT THE DASHBOARD TO SEE THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE GAUGE REGISTERING H (HOT). AT NO TIME DID THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT COME ON TO ALERT ME OF AN ENGINE PROBLEM. I HAD THE EDGE TOWED TO A GARAGE WHERE WE WERE SHOWN A BILL FOR $7,800 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE DUE TO THE WATER PUMP BURSTING AND LEAKING WATER INTO THE ENGINE WHICH MIXED WITH OIL IN THE ENGINE. WE BELIEVE THIS ENGINE FAILURE WAS THE DIRECT RESULT OF THE LOCATION OF THE WATER PUMP WHICH WAS "INTERNALLY" IN THE ENGINE.
THE WRENCH LIGHT WILL COME ON WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, AND POWER IS LOST. MY CAR WILL SLOW DOWN TO AROUND 10-20 MPH NO MATTER WHERE I AM OR HOW FAST I AM GOING. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY FORD. I HAVE BEEN ON I-10 WITH MY HUSBAND AND TODDLER AND THE VEHICLE GOES INTO THIS "LIMP MODE" AT 80 MPH! I AM SO TERRIFIED TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT I HAVE TO PAY EVERY MONTH FOR. MECHANICS THAT HAVE LOOKED AT THE CAR HAVE NO DEFINITIVE ANSWER TO PROBLEM, THEY SUGGESTED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY BE CLEANED. WE DID THAT AND IT WAS NO HELP. THE VEHICLE LEFT ME AND MY SON STRANDED THIS MORNING ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET IT OUT OF THE "SAFETY LIMP MODE". USUALLY, I CAN PULL OVER, PARK, AND SHUT THE CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES, THEN TURN IT ON AND IT WOULD WORK AGAIN. THIS MORNING, IT WOULD NOT RESET ITSELF. CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. HAD TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. CAR WOULD ONLY TRAVEL AT A VERY LOW SPEED. MADE MY WAY TO A PARKING LOT AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. SHIFTING INTO ANY GEAR (REVERSE, DRIVE ETC.) CAUSED THE CAR TO JUMP/SHAKE AND MAKE A LOUD NOISE. AFTER A WHILE IT RESOLVED ITSELF. TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY CHECKED IT OUT, COULD FIND NO ISSUE (INCIDENTAL FINDING - CAR NEEDED BATTERY). BATTERY WAS REPLACED, PICKED UP CAR AND RESUMED DRIVING THE CAR. WITHIN A WEEK WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (SECOND TIME SINCE PICKING THE CAR UP) AND HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN. DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY SEE THE SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER STOP WORKING, LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT AND LOSE ABILITY TO CONTROL ACCELERATION OF VEHICLE. HAD TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, CAR WOULDN'T TRAVEL AT ANYTHING OTHER THAN VERY LOW SPEED, JERKED WHEN SHIFTED ETC. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE AND WHEN LOOKING IT UP ONLINE I CAN SEE IT HAS HAPPENED TO MANY WITH THIS MODEL/YEAR. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO SUDDENLY LOSE THE ABILITY TO CONTROL ACCELERATION. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL. IT SEEMS TO OCCUR ONCE THE CAR REACHES CLOSE TO 100K MILES. CAN'T HELP BUT WONDER WHY DEALERSHIP IS NOT AWARE BUT I CAN FIND REAMS OF DOCUMENTED ISSUES ONLINE. I SIT WITH IT POWERED OFF FOR ABOUT A 10 SECOND COUNT, AND RESTART THE ENGINE. THE WRENCH LIGHT GOES OFF, AND I CAN DRIVE NORMALLY UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN.
WHILE DRIVING THE FORD EDGE HAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. THE WRENCH LIGHT AND BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. THE POWER STEERING WOULD NOT WORK AND I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT. THE MECHANIC WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE IT. IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES ALMOST CAUSING A WRECK EACH TIME WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY. ON MY DRIVE TO WORK I NOTICED MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WAS ON. ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK SOMETHING EXTREMELY SCARY HAPPENED. TWO ADDITIONAL LIGHTS APPEARED, ONE WAS THE WRENCH SYMBOL AND THE OTHER WAS TIRE SENSOR FAULT WHICH WAS NOT THE BIGGEST ISSUE. THE BIGGER SCARIER ISSUE WAS THAT WHILE GOING 65 MPH IN BUSY TRAFFIC MY SPEED ODOMETER STOPPED WORKING. I SPOKE TO SOMEONE AT FORD AND EXPRESSED MY FEAR OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THEY RECOMMENDED REPORTING IT. IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THIS SERIOUS ISSUE PLEASE REPORT IT.

I REMEMBER A RECALL ON THE WHEEL HUB AND I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS AND I DON'T RECALL GETTING THE PROBLEM REPAIRED BUT MY VIN RETURNS BACK NO ACTIVE RECALLS AND I CAN NOT HELP BUT WONDER IF THERE IS AN ERROR.
