TAKATA RECALL. WHY IS FORD TAKING SOO LONG TO FIX THE ISSUE? I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE JAN 2017 AND NOW THE SAME NOTICE KEEPS POPING UP, "YOUR VEHICLE IS AFFECTED BY A TAKATA AIRBAGS RECALL. PARTS ARE NOT YET AVAILABLE, BUT YOUR VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE IN THE MEANTIME." THE ISSUE I HAVE IS WE MOVED BACK FROM MICHIGAN TO ONTARIO CANADA IN JULY OF 2017 AND WE CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE RECALL IS COMPLETED AND FIXXED. WE HAVE CALLED FORD A COUPLE TIMES AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD LOOK INTO MOVING OUR VICHILE TO THE TOP OF THE LIST BUT THEY HAVE NOT.

FOUND THE VEHICLE WITH A DEAD BATTERY THIS MORNING. BATTERY IS ONLY 1.5 MONTHS OLD. JUMP STARTED THE VEHICLE AND THEN FOUND THAT WHILE RUNNING AND DOORS CLOSED, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WAS ON AND ALL DOME LIGHTS. CHECKED ALL DOORS MULTIPLE TIMES, STILL WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. TRIED TO LOCK DOORS WHILE ENGINE RUNNING AND SINCE THE CAR BELIEVED A DOOR WAS OPENED IT IMMEDIATELY UNLOCKED ALL THE DOORS. NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO TRAVELING WITH A RISK OF A DEAD BATTERY AGAIN OR ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO ABILITY TO LOCK THE DOORS. SEEMS FORD HAS EXACT SAME ISSUES WITH OTHER MODELS. THEY NEED TO RECALL THE 08S AS WELL.
LEFT REAR TAIL LIGHT BURNED OUT CHECK BULB COME TO FIND OUT THE SOCKET IS BURNED BROWN AND THE SOCKET VERY CRISP FALLING APART DUE TO OVER HEATED SOCKET THIS SHOULD BE REPLACED BY FORD. THIS MAY CAUSE A FIRE HAZARD, TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND HAVE THIS CHECKED BEFORE YOU HAVE A FIRE!!! I FOUND THIS WHEN I CHECKED TO SEE IF THE TURN SIGNAL/BRAKE LIGHT WERE WORKING.
WITHOUT ANY WARNING - NO HIGH TEMP LIGHT OR ANY ENGINE LIGHT - THE WATER PUMP FAILED CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE BECAUSE IT CAUSED THE TIMING CHAIN TO GO SLACK AND ALLOWING COOLANT TO GET INTO THE ENGINE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS ENGINE. I RAN DIAGNOSIS THE SAME MORNING WITH PERFECT RESULTS BEFORE FAILURE. I WAS TURNING ONTO MY STREET WHEN VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN.
MY 2008 FORD EDGE (SINCE I BROUGHT IT) HAS BEEN HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE PANEL WILL LIGHT UP( WRENCH LIGHT, AIRBAG LIGHT, TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT...ETC) THE ODOMETER WILL GO OFF AND HAVE ONLY DASHES, THE CAR WILL THEN HAVE A LOSS OF ACCELERATION. THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT IS TRYING REALLY HARD TO STAY IN GEAR OR CHANGE GEARS.THIS WILL HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 60MPH AS WELL AS LOCAL ROADS AT LOWER SPEEDS. I WILL HAVE TO PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND PULL OVER ON THE SIDE. WE FIGURED OUT THAT IF YOU DISCONNECT THE CABLES ON THE BATTERY FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN RECONNECT THE CAR WILL THEN RUN AGAIN OK. THIS IS A SERIOUS HAZARD. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT SEVERAL TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND HAVE BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY ALREADY. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO FORD SEVERAL TIMES ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THERE IS "NO CODE READING" SO THEY CAN NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS TO FIND OUT IF OTHER FORD EDGES HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND I CAME ACROSS A SLEW OF OTHER FORD EDGE OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD SEVERAL TIMES TO BE TOLD THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS. *TR
RECALL: I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES THE LAST FEW YEARS TO GET THE AIRBAGS IN MY CAR REPLACED. FORD DEALER CHUCK SPAETH FORD INC. NEW ULM, MINNESOTA (507) 794-3621 TELLS ME THEY HAVE NOT BEEN GIVEN THE OKAY TO MAKE REPAIRS. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET WITH THE AIRBAGS I WANT TO GET THEM REPLACED BEFORE IT DOES.

TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY MELTED COMPLETED AND BURNT LEAVING PLASTIC MELTED INSIDE THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY. NO WARNING, NO FUSES GONE BAD JUST THE LIGHT COMPLETED MELTED THE INSIDE AREA WHERE THE BULB GOES AND THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY BURNT COMPLETELY. *TR

WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE VEHICLE JERKED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A COLLISION CENTER FOR BODY REPAIRS AND THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED HER THAT THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE TRANSMISSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUES AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,000.
MY BRAKES MAKE A HISSING NOISE WHEN I PRESS DOWN.. I HAVE TO PRESS ALL THE WAY DOWN TO GET IT TO STOP. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.ALSO, MY BACK TAIL LITE HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED 2 TIMES BECAUSE THE SOCKET GOT HOT. ALSO, MY CAR JUMPS SOMETIMES WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS(TRANSMISSION ISSUE?) I HAVE ALSO HAD THE GAS TANK REPLACED(DUE TO A RECALL)
TAIL LIGHT SOCKETS MELTING CAUSING THE BULBS TO BLOW AND NOT WORK. HAVE HAD TO CHANGE BOTH SIDES THREE TIMES NOW. ALSO THE TAKATA AIRBAG HAS STILL NOT BEEN REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX IT. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT BOTH THESE THINGS.

NO WARNING INDICATOR GIVEN. THE BREAKS DECIDE TO STOP WORKING. HISSING SOUND WHEN BREAK IS APPLIED. I HAD TO MASH ON THE PEDDLE TO STOP. LUCKILY I WAS TRAVELING AT A SLOW SPEED. I HAVE 2 CHILDREN AGES 1 AND 2 IN THE CAR WITH ME. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BY FORD.

MY VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION ACTS LIKES IT'S SLIPPING OR IN NEUTRAL WHEN IT'S NOT. JERKS WHEN IT SHIFTS GEARS. LOSES POWER WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE. I DID SOME RESEARCH THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSIONS IN THE FORD EDGE'S. I STARTED HAVING ISSUES SEVERAL WEEKS AGO BACK IN OCTOBER 2016. WHY SHOULD ALL THE OWNERS OF THESE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS TO BE FIXED. THAT'S NOT RIGHT! WE GAVE FORD OUR HARD EARNED MONEY JUST TO GET A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. TALKED TO FORD TODAY AND THEY DON'T CARE. NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING THEY STATED. TODAY I WAS AT A 4 WAY STOP IN A SCHOOL ZONE AND WHEN I WANTED TO TAKE OFF IT ACTED LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. I GOT TO WHERE I COULD PULL OVER AND SAT THERE A FEW MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT THE OTHER MILE HOME. IT CLUNKS WHEN CHANGING GEARS AND JERKS. IT IS A INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AS IT DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERYDAY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT AXLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE AND THE FRONT AXLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NO LONGER BUILD PARTS FOR THE 2008 FORD EDGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 86,000.
STOPPED AT A LIGHT WOULD NOT PULL FORWARD AFTERWARDS LOUD CLUNKING NOISE, AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON, ODOMETER WENT TO ZERO, CAR WOULD JERK WHILE IN GEAR BUT WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARD OR REVERSE. I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM, HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH 2007 AND 2008 EDGE. WITH MOST BEING TRANSMISSION SENSOR FAILURE. FORD KNOWS OF THIS PROBLEM WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

I RECEIVED A TAKATA AIRBAG INFLATORS NOTICES CLASS ACTION 17-11375 (BLS), THE AIRBAGS HAVE NEVER BEEN FIXED, WORRIED IF I AM EVER IN AN ACCIDENT WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN. I CALLED THEM 1-888-470-3583, ALSO 1-888-814-0714. THE AIR BAGS NEED TO BE FIXED BECAUSE OF RECALL, SO FAR NOT DONE. CAN'T FIND DOC FOR RECALL BUT I TOOK IT IN MONTHS AGO, NO CALL FROM THEM OR APT SET UP.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2008 FORD EDGE, THE "WRENCH" LIGHT COMES ON AND MY CAR LOSES ALL POWER. WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS IT IS LIKE I AM IN NEUTRAL MY CAR WILL NOT DRIVE.
