BRAKES SEEM TO FAIL TO ENGAGE, SOMETIMES THEY ARE HARD TO PRESS AND THEN WILL GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. SOMETIMES THE ENGAGE REALLY HARD AND CAUSE ME TO SNAP FORWARD HARD. I TALKED TO FORD AND THEY SAY THERE ARE NO CURRENT RECALLS OR ISSUES WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. VEHICLE MOVING AND ALSO WHEN IDLING AT STOP SIGN I HAVE TO PUT IN NEUTRAL TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM MOVING.
TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED A NOTICE IN THE MAIL OVER A YEAR AGO ABOUT THIS AIRBAG RECALL. I DECIDED TO CHECK ON STATUS AND THERE STILL IS NO REMEDY YET AVAILABLE. I BELIEVE THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO BE WAIT OVER A YEAR FOR AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT SAFETY DEVICE. THE RECALL WAS ISSUED JUNE 1, 2016.
TAKATA RECALL: WELL OVER A YEAR AGO I RECEIVED NOTICE FROM FORD THAT I HAVE A TAKATA AIRBAG THAT WAS RECALLED. THESE AIRBAGS WERE NOT IN THE FIRST RECALL BUT WOULD BE REPLACED AS SOON AS NEW ONES WERE AVAILABLE. IN SEPTEMBER, 2017 I ASKED MY DEALER IS THERE WAS ANY DATE YET ON WHEN THESE AIRBAGS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THEY SAID NO, NOT YET. HOW MUCH LONGER AM I TO WAIT, ESPECIALLY SINCE TAKATA HAS FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY?

TAKATA RECALL...NO REMEDY YET FOR AIRBAGS IN CARS IN VA BUT ALL OTHERS HAVE BEEN FIXED IN ALL OTHER US STATES AND VERY UNSAFE AND UNPROFESSIONAL..WHEN WILL THERE BE A REMEDY?
THE PASSENGER DOOR AJAR LIGHTSTAYS ON AND WON'T GO OFF AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I START MY CAR , DRIVE MY CAR AND WILL ONLY GO OFF WHEN I TURN OFF THE ENGINE. IN MY OPINION THIS CONSTITUTES A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD WHAT WITH THE DOORS NOT LOCKING.

FUEL TANK LEAKING. NOT COVERED UNDER CURRENT RECALL. ADVISED TO GET REPAIRS MADE AND KEEP RECEIPTS BECAUSE RECALL MAY BE EXPANDED.

I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE ALMOST 2 YEARS AGO. THIS HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED, I AM HESITANT OF HAVING ANYONE RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT

DURING NORMAL HIGHWAY OPERATION THE RIGHT REAR TAILLIGHT FAILED. INSPECTION OF THE FAILED COMPONENT FOUND THE TAILLIGHT SOCKET HAD MELTED. THERE WAS NO PRIOR INDICATION OF CIRCUIT BREAKDOWN, IE: FUSE BLOWN, ETC. ALL PARTS WERE FACTORY INSTALLED AS NONE HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPLACED FROM NEW.
I HAVE A 2009 FORD EDGE THAT HAS HAD A STRONG ODOR OF GAS. I HAVE IT IN THE REPAIR SHOP AND I AM BEING TOLD THAT THERE IS A HOLE/LEAK IN THE SEAL TO THE GAS TANK. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM ON 07 AND 08 FORD EDGE. THE COST TO REPAIR THIS IS GOING TO BE $1800.00 WHICH WOULD INCLUDE TANK, O RING AND GASKET. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF MY 2009 FORD EDGE CAN BE PLACED ON A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. WE WERE SMELLING GASOLINE IN OUR GARAGE AND THE SMELL WAS COMING FROM CAR. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL SHOP WHERE IT WAS HOISTED AND A GASOLINE LEAK DISCOVERED AT THE "SEAM" OF MY GAS TANK. WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO RETURN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AS IT MAY HAVE A RECALL AND WAS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. MY HUSBAND CALLED AVIS FORD WHO IN FACT INSTRUCTED US TO BRING THE CAR IN. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED AT OUR EXPENSE OF OVER $80.00 ONLY TO GET TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM SAY THERE WAS AN ERROR AND THAT THE 2009 EDGE DID NOT HAVE A RECALL. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON TANKS ON MODELS FROM 2007 UP TO 2014 BUT APPARENTLY NOT THE 09. THE LEAK IS APPARENTLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND NOT CAUSED BY DAMAGE TO THE TANK FROM A FOREIGN OBJECT STRIKING IT . IT IS TERRIBLY FRIGHTENING TO ME TO KNOW THAT FORD HAS NOT STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE AND MAYBE ONLY A FATALITY WOULD FORCE THEM TO SO. I TRAVEL DAILY WITH A 30 MONTH AND 17 MONTH OLD IN MY CAR AND CANNOT IMAGINE HAVING TO GET THEM BOTH OUT OF 5 POINT RESTRAINT CAR SEATS IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE. IS THIS WHAT FORD IS WAITING FOR TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE UNACCEPTABLE DANGER OF A GAS TANK LEAK. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED IN ORDER TO SAVE LIVES.

REAR LEFT TURN SIGNAL BURNT OUT. REPLACED, BUT ENTIRE LIGHT ASSEMBLY INCLUDING TURN SIGNAL, BACK UP LIGHTS, AND BRAKE LIGHTS, AND REAR BACKUP SENSOR NOT WORKING NOW. REPLACED ALL BULBS AND SOCKETS FOR EACH AND STILL NOT WORKING. MECHANIC REPLACED WIRING HARNESS ON TURN SIGNAL AND FINALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM. BURNT OUT BULB WAS BLACK AND CHARRED AND SHORTED OUT THE ENTIRE DRIVERS REAR LIGHT ASSEMBLY CONTROLS AND SENSORS.
THE POWER TAKEOFF UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. BASED ON OTHER FORUMS THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH HEADLIGHT SOCKETS AS THEY MELTED LIKE THE RECALL I JUST READ ABOUT ON THE CROWN VICTORIAS.
THE CAR HAS STALLED WHILE IN DRIVE THREE TIMES OVER 2 MONTHS. IT HAS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT 10, 30 AND 45 MILES PER HOUR. IT IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE. *TR

MY 2009 FORD EDGE STARTED TO SHIFT HARD A FEW MONTHS AGO. I NOTICED THAT AT TIMES THE CAR WOULD LURCH FORWARD WHEN STARTING OUT AND KNOCK INTO THE GEAR.. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO THE CAR STARTED TO WHINE AT SPEEDS AROUND 50MPH. LAST WEEKEND THERE WAS A METAL SCRAPING SOUND WHEN DRIVING. MY MECHANIC HAS DIAGNOSED THIS AS A TRANSFER CASE PROBLEM. THE UNIT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT 1600 DOLLARS. AFTER DOING RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A KNOW FORD PROBLEM AND HAVE FOUND MANY MANY COMPLAINTS BY CONSUMERS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BY THE MANUFACTURER SINCE IT IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING. *TR
THE VEHICLE, SUDDENLY BECAME VERY HARD TO STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT AS THOUGH IT WAS STUCK AND REQUIRED A HUGE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE GOING AT A RELATIVELY LOW SPEED WHEN THE PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED. HOWEVER, WE HAD DRIVEN FROM SOUTH FLORIDA TO ATLANTA AT HIGHWAY SPEED WITHOUT INCIDENT AND SUDDENLY THE PROBLEM WAS THERE. JUST PRIOR TO THE HARD BRAKING, THERE WAS A LOUD WHISTLING SOUND INSIDE THE VEHICLE, COMING FROM UNDER OR BEHIND THE DASHBOARD. IT SOUND A THOUGH THERE WAS A VACUUM LEAK, BUT THE SOUND LASTED ONLY A SHORT TIME. LATER WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE I HEARD THE WHISTLING SOUND AGAIN. I CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD AND DASH BUT SAW NOTHING OBVIOUSLY WRONG. AS THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE, I WAS VERY SURPRISED WHEN THE FORD SERVICE REP IN ATLANTA TOLD WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THIS VEHICLE, CURRENTLY HAS 40,650 MILES ON IT. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT THE ODOMETER READ, 38, 648 MILES. IT COST ME $658 TO HAVE THE PROBLEM CORRECTED. NO WAY THIS TYPE PROBLEM SHOULD OCCUR AT THIS MILEAGE. UPON CHECKING FURTHER, I FOUND THAT FORD HAD ISSUED A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM (CSP) 13N02 TO ADDRESS THIS VERY PROBLEM IN MODEL YEARS 2010 THROUGH 2013. IN SPEAKING TO FORD THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE, SINCE MY "VIN" WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE CSP. FORD FURTHER STATED, IF THE NHTSA DEMEANED MY PROBLEM TO THE SAME AS THE PROBLEM AS COVERED IN CSP 13N02, AND IF THERE ARE ENOUGH COMPLAINTS, THEN PERHAPS A NEW PROGRAM WOULD BE INITIATED. AND AT THAT TIME I COULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIRS. IN AN ONLINE SEARCH I SEE THERE ARE OTHERS WITH THIS VACUUM BOOSTER ASSEMBLY FAILURE. ALSO IN THE NHTSA DATABASE THERE ARE FOUR OTHERS WITH NEWER VEHICLES EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM. PERHAPS FORD SHOULD ASKED TO REVIEW THIS PROBLEM AGAIN. *TR
BRAKE LIGHT BULBS BURNING OUT RESULTING IN A LOSS OF TURN SIGNALS AND BRAKE LIGHTS . THE CONNECTOR IS DISCOLORED DUE TO HIGH HEAT (CURRENT). COMPANY IS COVERING UNDER WARRANTY BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A TECHNICAL BULLETIN. *TR

THE LOCAL MECHANIC INSPECTED THE TAIL LIGHT AND FOUND THE LIGHT BULB SOCKET BURNED DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
BOTH TAIL LIGHTS HAVE BURNED HOLES THROUGH THEIR OUTER CASINGS. THEREFORE, WHEN I BRAKE THERE IS NO DIFFUSION OF THE BULB, JUST THE BRIGHT LIGHT OF THE BULB SHINING. MECHANICS AT MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP ADMITTED THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY FAULTY WIRING, WHICH MAKES THE BULBS BURN TOO HOT, RESULTING IN THE MELTING OF CERTAIN AREAS OF THE PROTECTIVE CASINGS. BUT AFTER INFORMING FORD MOTOR COMPANY OF THE ISSUE, INCLUDING SENDING PICTURES OF THE DAMAGE, I'M STILL BEING ASKED TO PAY FOR ALMOST HALF OF THE REPAIR; THIS WHEN I DIDN'T CAUSE THE PROBLEM AND I'M STILL COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PACKAGE OF UP TO 10 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. I'VE REVIEWED OTHER COMPLAINTS, AND I'M NOT THE FIRST PERSON TO DEAL WITH THIS EXACT ISSUE. SOME HAVE HAD FORD COVER THE COSTS, AS THEY SHOULD, AS IT IS THEIR EQUIPMENT THAT IS FAULTY. BUT OTHERS ARE IN THE SAME BOAT AS ME, WAITING FOR THE COMPANY TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR PRODUCT. AS THE CONSUMER AND A NON-CAR EXPERT, I HAVE NO GRASP ON THE RANGE OF POTENTIAL DAMAGE OR HAZARD THIS PROBLEM POSES. I DON'T KNOW IF BURNED BULBS AND MELTED CASINGS ARE THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM, OR IF I'M DRIVING AROUND WITH THE CHANCE OF A FIRE LOOMING. I JUST KNOW I'M DEALING WITH BAD WIRING, AND NOTHING GOOD COMES OF THAT. *TR

2009 FORD EDGE -- MAJOR ISSUE-- FORD NEEDS TO COVER COSTS--- I WAS DRIVING MY 2009 FORD EDGE SEL APPROX. 4 MILES. ONCE I ROLLED TO A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE CAR BEGAN TO IDLE AND THEN STALLED. NO WARNING LIGHTS.. I STARTED THE ENGINE AND PRESSED THE GAS (NO ACCELERATION). THE ENGINE RAN AT AROUND 1-2K RPM. I PRESSED THE GAS AGAIN, NO ACCELERATION. I SHUT OFF THE CAR CALLED AAA FOR A TOW. I STARTED THE CAR ONCE MORE TO CHECK THE GAUGES, NO SERVICE LIGHTS. WHEN I CHECKED THE OTHER INDICATORS IT STATED, CAR TEMP -- OK, OIL PRESSURE - OK, ETC... ALL OK.. NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO ISSUES. THE CAR WAS IN ABOUT 1.5 MONTHS AGO FOR OIL, 3-4 MONTHS FOR SERVICE. ABOUT 8-9 MONTHS AGO, MOROONE FORD OF MARGATE (UNDER WARRANTY) FIXED AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE (WHERE NO LIGHTS WERE SHOWING) THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A FORD ISSUE AND THEY REPLACED IT (NO COST). WELL NOW THIS HAPPENED AND MOROONE FORD OF MARGATE SAID, "BLOWN ENGINE, $7,700 TO REPLACE + $400 FOR COOLING FAN." THEY SAID THE COOLING FAN BROKE (NO WARNING) AND THE ENGINE BLEW. NO WARNING, LIGHTS, ETC... WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD WAITING FOR AAA (NO SMOKE, NO SMELL... YET A BLOWN ENGINE (FULL REPLACEMENT)... I WILL FIGHT THIS BECAUSE I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT THEY TRIED TO FIX PRIOR AND THIS HAPPENED AGAIN. I ALSO DON'T BELIEVE THE ENGINE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN NUMBER WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,500.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
THE PROBLEM SURFACED MORE RECENTLY OVER THE LAST 5 TO 6 THOUSAND MILES (CURRENT MILEAGE 36,550) AND IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. MANIFESTATION: ON A REASONABLE INCLINE, WHERE MOST OTHER VEHICLES I HAVE TESTED DO NOT ROLL BACK BETWEEN THE TIME THE DRIVER SHIFTS THE RIGHT OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ON TO THE ACCELERATOR WHILE THE GEAR IS IN "D" MODE, THE FORD EDGE WILL ROLL BACK. DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION WHETHER THERE IS ON COMING CROSS TRAFFIC OR NOT, ONE CAN DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR FURTHER AND THE CAR TENDS TO SLIGHTLY "SHOOT" FORWARD. IF THERE IS CROSS TRAFFIC (VEHICULAR OR PEDESTRIAN) ONE MUST SHIFT THE FOOT BACK TO THE BRAKE AGAIN VERY QUICKLY, OR ELSE THE CAR WILL ROLL BACK AND HIT WHATEVER IS BEHIND. THE ROLL BACK CAN, IF ALLOWED, CONTINUE FOR SEVERAL FEET DEPENDING UPON THE GRADIENT. THE DEALER CLAIMS THIS ISSUE TO BE NORMAL FOR THIS TRANSMISSION AND HAS NO FIX FOR IT.
