TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT BEGAN TO SMELL AN UNFAMILIAR ODOR. A PASSENGER BEGAN TO FEEL SICK BECAUSE OF THE ODOR. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND 30 MINUTES LATER, THE ODOR WAS PRESENT AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 27,000.
I BOUGHT MY 2009 FORD EDGE BRAND NEW (7 MILES ON IT) BACK IN MAY 2009. FOR THE PAST MONTH OR SO IT HAS BEEN STALLING OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON. HAVE BROUGHT IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP TWO TIMES NOW AND THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I SEARCHED ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM BUT THE DEALERSHIP CAN NOT FIGURE IT OUT BECAUSE THEY CAN NOT REPRODUCE THE STALLING AND NO LIGHTS COME ON SO THE DEFECT IS NEVER STORED IN THE CARS COMPUTER. FORD NEEDS TO GET THEIR [XXX] TOGETHER! NO WONDER PEOPLE REFER TO FORD AS FOUND ON ROAD DEAD. MINE SURE AS [XXX] IS. NOW I HAVE A 35 THOUSAND DOLLAR LAWN ORNAMENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONTINUE RIGHT REAR TAIL LIGHT BURNOUT. PLASTIC ON BLUBS MELTED. DISCOLORATION ON SOCKET. I NOW HAVE ABOUT 100,000 MI ON THE CAR AND HAVE REPLACED 5 BULBS. I WROTE A LETTER TO FORD AND THEY REJECTED MY COMPLAINT. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD. INDUSTRIAL PLASTIC MELTS AT ABOUT 300 OF. THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT WHICH FORD IS IGNORING! I CAN PROVIDE PHOTOS OF BURNED OUT BULBS AND DAMAGED SOCKET. LEFT REAR TURN BULB SVL 12V 3157. *JS

AT DUSK AND OTHER LIGHTING CONDITIONS THAT SIMULATE DUSK THE INSTRUMENTS AND SPEEDOMETER IN PARTICULAR, CAN NOT BE SEEN. I PURCHASED THE 2009 FORD EDGE SPORT ON AUGUST 29, 2009. I FIRST EXPERIENCED AIR LEAKAGE FROM MY RIMS IN DECEMBER 2009 AND I TOOK THE CAR TO TOM WOOD FORD IN JANUARY 2010. I HAD THE CAR BACK TO TOM WOOD SEVERAL TIMES AND IN OCTOBER 2010 FORD REPLACED ALL 4 WHEELS WITH NEW ONES. HOWEVER I HAVE CONTINUED TO HAVE THE AIR LEAKAGE DURING COLD WEATHER. I HAD TO TAKE THE CAR TO A TIRE SHOP AND REALIZED THIS IS A DEFECT WITH THESE WHEELS. EVERY 4 TO 6 MONTHS THEY HAVE TO HAVE THE TIRE REMOVED AND THE WHEEL CLEANED OF THE CORROSION THAT DEVELOPS ON THE INSIDE OF THE RIM. FORD HAS REFUSED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND IT AFFECTS ALL 2009 FORD EDGE SPORTS WITH THE 22 INCH WHEELS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND CAN CAUSE HANDLING ISSUES. IN FACT IN JANUARY 2014 I HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW TIRE BECAUSE THE AMOUNT OF AIR LOST FROM MY INDICATOR GOING OFF AND ME GETTING TO A SPOT I COULD ADD AIR DAMAGED THE TIRE BEYOND REPAIR. *TR
THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CONTRAST IS INADEQUATE IN MY 2009 FORD EDGE. THE GRAY BACKGROUND DOES NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE CONTRAST IN MANY DAYLIGHT SITUATIONS TO ALLOW SAFE REVIEW OF SPEED ALONG WITH FUEL LEVEL, ENGINE TEMP, AND RPM. THE PRIMARY CONCERN IS THAT THE DRIVER MUST TURN ATTENTION FROM THE ROAD TO TRY TO READ THE GAUGES IN DAYLIGHT CONDITIONS THUS CREATING A POTENTIALLY UNSAFE OPERATING CONDITION. I HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO FORD AND MY LOCAL DEALER. THE LOCAL DEALER HAS INDICATED THAT HE HAS RECEIVED OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS CONDITION, BUT AT THIS TIME THERE IS NO RESOLUTION OFFERED BY FORD. FORD INDICATES THIS VEHICLE OPERATES WITHIN THE SPECIFICATIONS FOR MAKE/'MODEL. THE NIGHT TIME READABILITY IS GOOD. THIS IS ONLY A DAYLIGHT ISSUE UNDER DIFFERING LEVELS OF AMBIENT LIGHT. *TR
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL DATED JULY 2016, WENT TO MY FORD DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THEY WOULD CONTACT ME ONCE THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. IT'S NOW BEEN 16 MONTHS AND THEY CONTINUE TO TELL ME THE PARTS ARE NOT YET AVAILABLE. MY WIFE HAS BEEN DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE NOW SINCE PURCHASING THIS AUTOMOBILE NEW ON 9/15/2009 AND NO ONE SEEMS TO BE INTERESTED IN MAKING THE REPAIRS. SHE AND I BOTH WANT TO KNOW WHEN WE CAN EXPECT THESE LIFE AND/OR DEATH REPAIR PARTS TO BECOME AVAILABLE
SAFETY- ON APRIL 30,2009 I PURCHASED A NEW 2009 FORD EDGE. ON MEMORIAL DAY, 2009, 1 MONTH AFTER IT WAS PURCHASED AND WITH APPROX. 1200 MILES ON IT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON THE NYS THRUWAY IT MADE A LOUD CLUNKING SOUND, JERKED AND WITHIN 5 SECONDS JUST SHUT OFF. VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE, IT HAD TO BE TOWED. WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE, THEY FOUND NOTHING. ON OCTOBER 31, 2009, AGAIN, I WAS ON THE NYS THRUWAY, IT DID THE SAME IDENTICAL THING, MADE A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE, JERKED AND WITHIN 5 SECONDS JUST SHUT OFF. BOTH TIMES I WAS BARELY ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE EDGE OF THE ROAD. I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK, BUT IN THE MEANTIME THIS TIME IT STARTED AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING AND THEN IT WENT OFF. AGAIN, I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE, AGAIN, THEY FOUND NOTHING. THEY SAID THERE WAS NO CODES SHOWING UP FOR ANYTHING WRONG. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. SOMEONE COULD GET KILLED WHEN THIS HAPPENS AND I HAVE VERY SMALL GRANDCHILDREN THAT COULD BE WITH ME. I AM NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. I CONTACTED FORD DIRECT AND A SPECIALIST FROM FORD CONTACTED ME TODAY BY THE NAME OF DENISE. SHE SAID FORD WOULDN'T REPLACE ANY PARTS WITHOUT A CODE COMING UP IN THEIR COMPUTER. I ASKED HER IF THEY WERE GOING TO JUST WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE WAS KILLED AND SHE SAID THAT FORD WILL NOT APPROVE ANY PARTS BEING REPLACED SINCE THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. FORD HAS NOW PUT APPROXIMATELY 500 MILES THEMSELVES ON THE VEHICLE TEST DRIVING IT, AND I STILL HAVE NO SOLUTION. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. THIS IS EXTEMELY DANGEROUS AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO RECTIFY THIS SITUATION. ANY HELP THAT YOU CAN OFFER WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. *TR
I CONTACTED THE NHTSA IN MAY OF 2009 BECAUSE FORD MOTOR COMPANY REFUSED TO HONOR MY WARRANTY AND GIVE MY A CAR THAT WAS DRIVABLE. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW FORD EDGE WITH 45 MILES. THE DEALER TOLD ME TO HIT THE ROAD AFTER THREE SERVICE REQUEST, TO REPAIR MY CAR DELIVERED WITH A BAD FRAME. I HAVE BEEN FORCED TO DRIVE THIS CAR FOR ALMOST ONE YEAR NOW WITH NO HELP FROM ANYWHERE. I COMPLAINED AT LEAST FOUR TIMES TO NHTSA ABOUT MY STEERING, SUSPENSION AND MY BRAKES FAILING. TOYOTA OWNERS GET HELP, BUT NOT AMERICANS. FORD MOTOR COMPANY TOLD ME DO NOT COME BRING MY CAR BACK FOR SERVICE ANYMORE BECAUSE THERE ARE NOT GOING TO HONOR MY WARRANTY. ALMOST ONE YEAR LATER I GUESS THEY WERE RIGHT. WHAT IS A WARRANTY? MY HANDS HURT AND THERE IS NO JUSTICE FOR AMERICAN CONSUMERS STUCK WITH BAD PRODUCTS, ONLY DEATH OR INJURY WILL HELP YOU GET A DEPENDABLE AMERICAN MADE CAR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUSPENSION WAS FAULTY AND THE BRAKES FAILED. WHEN SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AT 8 MPH, SHE HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. IF THE ABS HAD NOT ENGAGED, SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO STOP COMPLETELY. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURES. THE CONTACT INFORMED THEM THAT THE SUSPENSION NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED FIRST AND THEN THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE TEST DRIVEN AT OVER 40 MPH IN ORDER TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT NOT TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,020.
