The contact owns a 2009 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the driver-side rear tail light bulb would frequently burn out after replacement. Upon initially taking the vehicle to a dealer, she was informed that the bulb outlet would overheat while at a stop and that the bulb receptacle had begun to melt. The contact was also informed that the same failure had occurred in the passenger side tail light; however, the bulb had yet to burn out. The contact had a preliminary diagnosis performed by an independent mechanic who stated that the bulb receptacles would need replacement. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
THE TAILLIGHT SOCKETS MELTED WITHOUT ANY WARNING IN THE DASHBOARD. THE SOCKET PLATIC IS TOTALLY MELTED BAD
BRAKE AND TURN SIGNAL LIGHT SOCKET IS BURNT AND CHARRED. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BULBS AT LEAST EVERY OTHER MONTH. I WAS TOLD BY FORD THAT I MUST HAVE USED THE WRONG WATTAGE BULB. INTERNET SEARCHES SUGGEST OTHERWISE. THERE ARE COUNTLESS OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS AND DANGEROUS ISSUE. FORD WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE OR OFFER TO PAY THE $100 TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
REAR LEFT TURN SIGNAL BURNT OUT. REPLACED, BUT ENTIRE LIGHT ASSEMBLY INCLUDING TURN SIGNAL, BACK UP LIGHTS, AND BRAKE LIGHTS, AND REAR BACKUP SENSOR NOT WORKING NOW. REPLACED ALL BULBS AND SOCKETS FOR EACH AND STILL NOT WORKING. MECHANIC REPLACED WIRING HARNESS ON TURN SIGNAL AND FINALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM. BURNT OUT BULB WAS BLACK AND CHARRED AND SHORTED OUT THE ENTIRE DRIVERS REAR LIGHT ASSEMBLY CONTROLS AND SENSORS.

THE LOCAL MECHANIC INSPECTED THE TAIL LIGHT AND FOUND THE LIGHT BULB SOCKET BURNED DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
DRIVER'S SIDE, REAR TAIL LIGHT/ TURN SIGNAL WAS SIGNALING FAST, LETTING ME KNOW THERE WAS AN ISSUE. THE NEXT DAY, IT NO LONGER SIGNALED ABNORMALLY. THE FOLLOWING DAY IT WAS FAST AGAIN AND NO LONGER ILLUMINATING. WHEN I WENT TO REPLACE THE BULB, THE SOCKET WAS BLACK AND MELTED. *TR
