I HAVE THE INFAMOUS "DOOR ALWAYS AJAR" PROBLEM ON MY FORD EDGE. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY THAT GETS CORRODED AND STOPS INDICATING THE DOOR IS CLOSED. WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION, THE LOCKS WON'T LOCK, POSING A HAZARD IN A ACCIDENT, IMO. IF THIS IS AT NIGHT, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON AND THIS COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE THE DRIVER TO BE STARTLED AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IF IT IS PARKED THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WON'T GO OFF AND DRAINS THE BATTERY, POSSIBLY STRANDING THE DRIVER IN AN UNFRIENDLY AREA. I LOVE THIS CAR BUT I CAN'T TRUST IT OR DRIVE IT UNTIL IT IS FIXED. THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND IT IS OF THEIR OWN MAKING AND THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT IS UNACCEPTABLE. DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON AT ALL TIMES.
"DRIVER DOOR AJAR" LIGHT REMAINS LIT AFTER CLOSING. NO OBVIOUS PHYSICAL DEFECT. DOME/INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ILLUMINATED, DOORS WILL NOT LOCK EVEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS UNDERWAY. CENTER DISPLAY REMAINS POWERED/ILLUMINATED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND DOORS ARE CLOSED, CAUSING TOTAL DISCHARGE OF THE BATTERY.
WHEN USING THE BRAKES ON AN ICY ROAD THE ABS SIGNAL CAME ON, THEN THE BRAKES WENT COMPLETELY DOWN TO THE FLOOR BOARD. THE CAR HAD NO BRAKES. THE BRAKES ANY OTHER TIME HAS A FULL PEDAL. THIS HAS OCCURRED TWICE IN THE LAST FEW DAYS. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED ON OUR DEAD END STREET AND NOT ON A HIGHWAY.
BRAKE FAILURE- BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR WHEN BRAKING WHILE IN MOTION- THE POWER BOOSTER HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED BY DEALER UNDER RECALL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHUT OFF WHILE THE SHIFT INTO PARK ERROR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO PARK AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS OPERATED IN ORDER TO PARK THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED BOB BOYD FORD DEALER AT 740-654-1122 WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THE PRICE FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR IN TRAFFIC, THEN IT ALL OF A SUDDEN CUT OFF, I ABLE TO RESTART AND MOVE A SHORT DISTANCE TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP NEED COMPLETE POWER TRAIN REPLACEMENT, WATER PUMP, POSSIBLY ENTIRE NEW ENGINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH IN TRAFFIC THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD TO COMPLETELY STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING WHILE HIS FOOT WAS ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ADVANTAGE FORD IN DUARTE, CA WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DEFECTIVE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR SENSOR STAYS ON WHEN VEHICLE IS TURNED ON AND IN MOTION.
DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT WON'T GO OFF. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND DOORS WON'T LOCK.
LOST BRAKES OR TWO OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING AND EACH TIME THE BOOSTER WAS REPLACED. THE 2ND REPLACEMENT FORD WOULD NOT PAY FOR. WE LOST TOTAL CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE AND ENDED UP TRADING IT IN FOR A HYUNDAI SPORT.
WHEN WE RETURNED FROM VACATION WE NOTICED THE BRAKE PETAL WAS SINKING TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR WOULD TAKE A BIT TO COME TO A STOP. AT ONE POINT I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP AT A LIGHT. THE PETAL SANK AND THE CAR ROLLED FORWARD AND INTO THE BUMPER OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME (NO INJURIES). WE CHANGED THE BRAKE FLUID AND BLED THEM MANY TIMES. WE RESEARCHED ON WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG. ULTIMATELY I FOUND THAT FORD WOULD REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER DUE TO SOME SORT OF RECALL. THEY REPLACED IT AND SAID THAT THE CAR STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY SAID TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER, WHICH THEY QUOTED $890 FOR. THEY ALSO CHARGED ME $190 TO DO FURTHER INSPECTION. WE TOOK THE CAR HOME AND ORDERED A MASTER CYLINDER FOR ABOUT $80. WE PUT IN THE MASTER CYLINDER OURSELVES. WE BENCH BLED THE CYLINDER AND ONCE IT WAS INSTALLED WE BLED THE BRAKES ON 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, ABOUT 10 MINS ON EACH WHEEL. THE PEDAL WAS STILL SINKING. WE HAD A MECHANIC COME OUT TO CHECK OUR WORK. HE SAID THAT EVERYTHING WE DID WAS FINE AND HE BLED THE BRAKES MULTIPLE TIMES. STILL SINKING PEDAL. HE CONCLUDED THAT WE MAY HAVE PURCHASED A FAULTY CYLINDER. I TOOK IT TO 2 OTHER MECHANICS, FIRESTONE AND BIG O TIRES, THEY BOTH SAID IT WOULD HAVE TO BE THE MASTER CYLINDER. SO...I ORDERED ANOTHER CYLINDER. WE HAD A MECHANIC COME OUT TO INSTALL. STILL...SINKING PEDAL. HE SAID THAT IT MIGHT BE THE ABS SYSTEM, WHICH I SUSPECTED. HE ALSO SAID THAT IT MAY BE THAT FORD WOULD NEED TO USE SOME SPECIAL TOOL THAT ONLY THEY HAVE TO RESET SOMETHING OR OTHER. SO I FINALLY GAVE IN AND TOOK IT BACK TO FORD. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT HAD FAILED, AND QUOTED $2042.50 TO REPLACE IT, $1400 OF THAT IS JUST LABOR. THE FORD REP SAID THAT ONLY FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENTS CAN FIX THIS ISSUE, BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE CORRECT TOOLS FOR IT.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN THOUGH DOOR IS CLOSED WHICH PREVENTS DOORS BEING LOCKED WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION. EVEN THOUGH CAR IS PARKED AND TURNED OFF, INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT WON'T SHUT OFF. I'M BLINDED AT NIGHT WHEN I NEED TO MOVE THE CAR SINCE THE LIGHTS ARE ON. MY BATTERY IS DRAINED DUE TO THE LIGHTS REMAINING ON. I USE MY VEHICLE AT NIGHT SO THIS HAS ME VERY WORRIED TO BE STRANDED. MY DOORS DON'T LOCK. FOR NEEDS TO RECALL. THANK YOU.
DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON FOR A WHILE AFTER YOU START DRIVING. DOORS WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK AND IF YOU LOCK THEM THEY WILL AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK WHEN DRIVING. WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE AND YOU GO TO LOCK IT, THE HORN SOUNDS TWICE INDICATING THE DOOR IS NOT SHUT, AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON FOR A WHILE. REAL PAIN. FORD NEEDS TO GET THIS FIGURED OUT AND RECALL THESE DEFECTIVE VEHICLES.
2011 FORD EDGE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK IN DRIVE WHEN DOOR ADJAR LIGHT IS ON - SENSOR ISSUE WITH FORD VEHICLES IN DOOR - FAULTY DOOR ADJAR SWITCH WHEN ON WILL NOT LET YOU LOCK DOORS AND WILL NOT AUTO LOCK WHEN PUTTING IN DRIVE
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IS HAVING DIFFICULTY COMING TO A FULL STOP. THE BREAK BOOSTER IS THE ISSUE. TWO MORE BREAK BOOSTERS WERE SWITCHED IN THE VEHICLE. THE CARE IS STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. A TOTAL OF FOUR BREAK BOOSTERS HAS BEEN REPLACED IN THE VEHICLE ACCORDING TO THE MAINTENANCE HISTORY. THE CAR HAS BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD WHILE DRIVING.
THE DRIVERS SIDE 'DOOR AJAR' LIGHT STAYS ON, EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS OBVIOUSLY NOT OPEN. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON UNTIL THE VEHICLE BEGINS MOVING FORWARD AFTER REACHING A CERTAIN SPEED. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF, THE RADIO & POWER IMMEDIATELY SHUTS OFF AS WELL. THIS COULD BECOME A PROBLEM IF IT KILLS THE BATTERY.
I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2011 FORD EDGE WITH THE SAFETY LATCH - AUTO DOOR LATCH WILL NOT ENGAGE, KEEPS OPENING UP WHEN IN DRIVE ALONG WITH THE INTERIOR DOOR ADJAR LIGHT STAYING ON - THIS HAPPENS IN HOT WEATHER AS WELL AS COLD IN MINNESOTA - I CANNOT LOCK THE VEHICLE, AND DOOR LOCK KEEPS OPENING WHILE DRIVING CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD
2 MAIN ON GOING ISSUES 1. BRAKES- FROM DAY ONE, CONSTANTLY-NEEDING TO BE RE ROTORED / NEW PADS / GRINDING SQUEAKY SOUNDS - ALL THE TIME. FORD BLAMES ME FOR ' NOT DRIVING ENOUGH ' ?.? CONCERNED FOR SAFETY - WILL THEY FAIL? 2. TOOK CAR IN TODAY 4.5.18 - FOR 2ND TIME DUE TO ODOR OF PROPANE OR GAS WHEN COMING TO STOP / LOW SPEED OR IDLEING.. WAS TOLD NO BULLETIN OR NOTICE OUT FOR ISSUE - WHICH WAS LEAKING FLUID UNDERCAR -WHICH ' COULD CAUSE FIRE ' WAS TOLD I COULD NOT LEAVE WITH MY VEHICLE, RENTAL WAS PROVIDED UNDER MY PAID WARRANTY. REVIEW OF ONLINE INFO SHOWS MANY STORIES OUT AS WELL AS LAWSUIT ON THIS VERY ODOR ISSUE- YET I WAS NEVER INFORMED. SMELL HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE SEPT. 2017
MYTOUCH SCREEN WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO CHANGE TIME, TURN ON HEAT FOR SEATS OR CHOOSE BETWEEN DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS, ADJUST TEMPERATURE IN VEHICLE. SOMETIMES WHEN TRYING TO TURN HEAT ON SEAT, IT WILL JUST CHANGE RADIO STATIONS. SCREEN NOT SENSITIVE TO TOUCH.
WHILE LOADING/UNLOADING FROM BACK, GATE COMES DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY.
BRAKE PEDAL GOING DOWN TO THE FLOOR. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY FOR THE PAST YEAR. USUALLY IS NOTICED WHEN NEEDING TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION WHILE ON THE ROAD. I'VE HAD CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE HAD ALL BRAKES REPLACED, ALONG WITH THE MASTER CYLINDER, AND BRAKE BOOSTER. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED AND AM NOW TOLD TO HAVE THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT REPLACED. FROM WHAT I'VE READ THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH A NUMBER OF FORD MODELS.
ON 9/11/17 MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING HER 2011 FORD EDGE LIMITED WITH APPROXIMATELY 80,000 MILES. A VAN HAD CUT HER OFF DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON HYW. 635 IN FARMERS BRANCH, TX AND SHE ENDED UP REAR ENDING IT. I ASKED MY WIFE WHAT HAPPENED WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE HOSPITAL AND THE TOLD ME THAT WHEN SHE WENT FOR THE BRAKE PEDAL IT WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR AND SHE HEARD A "SUCKING" SOUND BUT THE CAR DID NOT STOP. OUR INSURANCE COMPANY AT THE TIME (USAA) NEVER INVESTIGATED THE BRAKES AND TOTALED OUT THE CAR. I SEARCHED GOOGLE AND HAVE FOUND SIMILAR SITUATIONS INVOLVING FORD EDGE CROSSOVERS BUT FORD ONLY HAS A TSB FOR THIS ISSUE AND NOT A RECALL. I JUST RECENTLY LEARNED ABOUT THIS PROCESS AND HOPE IT WILL BE INVESTIGATED SO THAT LIVES CAN BE SAVED. LUCKILY MY WIFE ONLY SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES FROM THE AIRBAG AND OUR CHILDREN WERE STILL WITH OUR BABYSITTER.
MY 2011 FORD EDGE LIMITED TURNS OFF IF A TRAFFIC LIGHT LAST LONGER THAN 30 SECONDS, THEN I HAVE TO QUICKLY PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART IT. THIS MORNING IT TURNED OFF ON ME WHILE GOING 70 MPH ON A BUSY HIGHWAY!! WHEN I GOT TO MY OFFICE THIS MORNING I WAS SHAKING SO I TOOK TO THE INTERNET TO SEE IF I COULD FIND ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THIS. I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND ONE PAGE AFTER ANOTHER REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE! I'VE READ CLOSE TO 500 SIMILIAR COMPLAINTS SO FAR THIS MORNING AND MANY MANY MORE LEFT TO READ BY PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM! HOW HASN'T FORD OR YOUR AGENCY NOT ISSUE A RECALL. THIS IS CRIMINAL AND A TOTAL DISGRACE TO FORD AND YOUR AGENCY IF YOU TOO ARE HIDING SOMETHING! THIS WILL, IF IT HASN'T ALREADY, GET SOMEONE KILLED!!
ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND ACCELERATOR DID NOT FUNCTION. NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE BODY MOTOR ASSEMBLY. FORD ESTABLISHED "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" IN LIEU OF A RECALL FOR OTHJER FORD MODELS BUT THE EDGE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN SUCH.
AS I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY CAR JUST DECIDES TO TURN OFF, WHEN I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. IT HAS HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES AND I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR 3 MONTHS :(

THE PASSENGER DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON EVEN AFTER THE DOOR IS CLOSED, AND THE EVEN IF THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND THE DOORS LOCKED IT WILL ACT LIKE THE DOOR COMES OPEN AND SET THE ALARM OFF AND OR TURN THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DIE. IT HAPPENS CONTINUOUSLY EVERYDAY.

THE CONTACT'S SON DROVE IT SLOWLY TO THE AUTONATION FORD ST. PETERSBURG DEALER LOCATED AT 2525 34TH ST N, ST. PETERSBURG, FL 33713; (727) 231-1323 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-392-3673 AND WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS TOO OLD AND A CASE NUMBER CAS-12952105 WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
BATTERY TESTED FINE. WHEN STATIONARY THE FORD EDGE WILL NOT START AND ALL WARNING SIGNS FOR THE VEHICLE ARE ON. THE RADIO TURNS IS ON AND INTERIOR LIGHTS. ALSO, WHILE IN MOTION THE CAR IT ALL OF SUDDEN STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC MY NEIGHBORHOOD.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON CAUSING THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON AFTER YOU GET OUT OF CAR AND WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. ALSO THE CAR LOCKS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AND YOU CAN'T LEAVE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION WHILE PARKED BUT STAYING IN THE CAR. A BELL WILL JUST KEEP RINGING UNTIL YOU REMOVE THE KEY.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR NOT WORKING. AFTER THE CAR IS MOVING THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHICH IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER.
THE " DRIVER DOOR AJAR" LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON EVEN THOUGHT THE DOOR ISN'T AJAR. BECAUSE OF THIS, I AM UNABLE TO LOCK MY DOORS WHEN THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN .
SCREEN FOR CONTROLLING RADIO/NAVIGATION SYNC BLANKS OUT. APIM BAD COSTS $1000 TO REPAIR. EXTENDED WARRANTY 12M02 NOT LONG ENOUGH. SHOULD BE A RECALL.
DOOR AJAR ISSUE. EVEN WHEN ALL DOORS SHUT, SLAMMED SHUT, CLOSED NICELY, SHOWS AS DRIVER DOOR AJAR. THIS IS ALSO WHEN LOCKING THE CAR AND ARMING THE ALARM

THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE THE DOOR IS PHYSICALLY CLOSED AND LATCHED. DUE TO THIS LIGHT STAYING ON, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON, THE DOORS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLLY LOCK WHILE DRIVING, AND WHEN PARKED, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON FOR THE PASSENGER DOOR WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED AND PREVENTS THE DOOR FROM LOCKING WHILE DRIVING.
THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. CREATES VISABILITY ISSUE AT NIGHT BECAUSE INTERIOR LIGHT ON AND CAR WONT LOCK . I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AS WELL
THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR CENSOR STAYS ON NOT ALLOWING THE VEHICLE DOORS TO LOCK. IT ALSO CAUSES THE ALARM TO CONSTANTLY GO OFF.THE VEHICLE WOULD BE PARKED.
THROTTLE BODY SUSPECTED: 2011 FORD 3.5L EDGE DECELERATING AND STALLING AT RANDOM. VEHICLE STRANDED IN MIDDLE OF ROADWAY UNTIL PUSHED TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. TURNING VEHICLE OFF THEN BACK ON CORRECTS ISSUE UNTIL THE NEXT RANDOM EVENT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES WITH THIS VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A FORD LINCOLN MERCURY DEALER IN FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP FAILED AND THE WATER DESTROYED THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS-12638580-MM4M1H9. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT ALWAYS ON EVEN WHILE DOOR IS CLEARLY SHUT. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING AND DOME LIGHTS STAY ON DRAINING BATTERY.

WAS TOLD BY DEALER FORD IS NOTORIOUS FOR THE FORD 2011 EDGE 3.5L V6 ELECTRICAL-SWITCH & RELAY DOOR OPEN WARNING RELAY WAS MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE . AND IT WILL KEEP THE COMPUTER OPEN AND WILL DRAIN THE BATTERY QUICKLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO DIE ON THE ROADSIDE AFTER OVER 1500 COMPLAINT TO FORD COMPANY THEY STATED NOT ENOUGH COMPLAINT .....THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN THEY CAN OPEN A UNLOCKED DOOR WHAT MORE PROOF DO YOU NEED FORD NOT TO RECALL THIS ISSUE AND FIX IT !!
