DRIVE SIDE DRIVER DOOR AJAR SENSOR SWITCH FAILS. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT STAY LOCKED WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON AT ALL TIMES IF THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT IS ON, EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT WORK, DOME LIGHT STAYS ON. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT SINCE REDUCES NIGHT VISION AS WELL AS ALLOWS THE DOORS TO BE OPENED BY ANYONE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR CAUSED THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR TO ILLUMINATE, ALTHOUGH THE DOOR WAS CLOSED. IN ADDITION, THE INTERIOR LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND THE DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LATCH ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,000.
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE FREEWAY THE ENGINE SUDDENLY COMPLETELY LOST POWER WITH NO WARNING WHAT SO EVER. LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO SAFELY PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS ISSUE COULD HAVE ENDED VERY BADLY IF THERE WAS MORE TRAFFIC AT THE TIME IT HAPPENED. AFTER SEARING THE FORMUMS MANY OTHER EDGE OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THIS SAME ISSUE. THE THROTTLE BODY APPEARS TO BE THE FAULTY PART THAT CAUSES THE ISSUE.
DOOR SENSOR: DOOR SENSOR LIGHT STAYS ON BECASUSE EITHER DOOR LATCH OR DOOR SENSOR HAS BEEN COMPROMISED. WHEN THE DOOR SENSOR IS 'ON' OR 'LIT' SYSTEM DOES NOT ENABLE AUTO LOCK WHEN SPEEDS ARE OVER 10 MPH. OVERHEAD LIGHTS STAY ON AT LOW SPEEDS.
WHILE DRIVING, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON EVEN THOUGH ALL THE DOORS ARE COMPLETELY CLOSED. THE IMAGE INDICATES THE PASSENGER DOOR IS AJAR. BECAUSE OF THIS, THE DOME LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND I AM UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS WHILE DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE POWER TRAIN FAULT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,500. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE DOORS ALWAYS SHOW AJAR. THE DEALER HAS WORKED ON OUR CAR AT LEAST 3 TIMES NOW IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE US TO FIX IT. THE IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND IT RUINS THE BATTERY. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR AND THE LIGHT WON'T GO OFF UNTIL YOU GET MOVING DOWN THE ROAD.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR SENSOR IS BAD. THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE BECAUSE THE SENSOR REMAINS ON ALL THE TIME EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. SO IF THE DOOR IS EVER OPEN, YOU WOULD NOT KNOW BECAUSE ALL THE SENSORS ARE BAD SO YOU ASSUME IT IS JUST AN ERROR MESSAGE. ALSO - ON THIS VEHICLE - THE BRAKES FEEL SPONGY AT TIMES AND ARE NOT GOOD, EVEN THOUGH HAVING THE BRAKES LOOKED AT AND THEY HAVE CHECKED AS CONFIRMED SOUND WITH NEW ROTORS AND PADS.
I HAVE A 2011 FORD EDGE, THE DOOR AJAR SYMBOL REMAINS ON, THIS ALLOWS THE COURTESY LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON AND DRAIN THE BATTERY, I HAVE RAN ELECTRICAL CONTACT CLEANER THROUGH ONE OF THE BOLT HOLES AND SPRAYED WD40, IT WORKED FOR A LITTLE AWHILE, BUT NOW THE LIGHTS STAYS ON AT ALL TIMES, AND DRAINS THE BATTERY. THIS LEAVES MY WIFE AND CHILD STRANDED AT TIMES, WHILE AAA ARRIVES TO JUMP THE DEAD BATTERY. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THE DOOR LATCH PROBLEM, I HAVE A LOCAL QUOTE TO REPLACE THE LATCH....$500.00 THROUGH FORD .....BEFORE I THE, CONSUMER OF A MADE IN THE USA PRODUCT PAY $500.00 TO GET THE LATCH REPLACED I WILL TRADE THE VEHICLE IN FOR A CHEVROLET!!! PLEASE RECALL THIS LATCH PROBLEM
THE DOOR AJAR ERROR APPEARS ON THE DASH, EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED. THE ALARM CANNOT BE PROPERLY ACTIVATED BECAUSE OF THIS. THE DOOR WAS NOT HIT IN AN ACCIDENT, IT JUST DEVELOPED ONE DAY INTERMITTENTLY AND IS NOW CONSTANT. I AM HAVING TO REPLACE THE DOOR LATCH TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE.
ALERT STATING "AWD OFF" AND AN IMAGE OF A WRENCH SUDDENLY CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. CAR SPUTTERED AND WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. PULLED OVER, TURNED CAR OFF AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. WHEN TURNED BACK ON, ALERT WAS OFF. LUCKILY I WAS ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET, BUT COULD POSE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF ON THE HIGHWAY OR DURING TRAFFIC DUE TO INABILITY TO ACCELERATE OR DRIVE CAR.
THE 'DOOR AJAR' WARNING LIGHT ON MY 2011 EDGE PERIODICALLY COMES ON AND STAYS ON. THE WARNING INDICATES THAT VARIOUS DOORS ARE OPEN. SOMETIMES IT'S THE DRIVER DOOR; OTHER TIMES IT'S THE LEFT PASSENGER DOOR OR THE BACK GATE. EACH TIME THE DOORS WERE CLOSED PROPERLY, HOWEVER THE SENSOR THINKS THAT THE DOORS ARE OPEN. THIS MALFUNCTION CAUSES THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS AND THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS ON THE SIDE MIRRORS TO REMAIN ON, WHICH DRAINS THE BATTERY. ORIGINALLY, I THOUGHT THIS ISSUE WAS A PROBLEM SPECIFIC TO MY VEHICLE. HOWEVER, IN AN ATTEMPT TO UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM, I CONDUCTED AN INTERNET SEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT THE 'DOOR AJAR' WARNING IS A COMMON AND WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FORD PRODUCTS INCLUDING THE EDGE. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT A RESULT OF USE OR WEAR AND TEAR OF THE VEHICLE; IT CLEARLY IS A MECHANICAL /ENGINEERING FLAW WITH THE VEHICLE. I FEEL THAT THIS SITUATION IS A SAFETY ISSUES AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2016, I SENT AN EMAIL TO THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER (CRC), EXPLAINING THE PROBLEM AND SEEKING HELP. I WAS ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER (CAS-10612005-P1F4G7) AND WAS TOLD TO CONTACT A LOCAL DEALER TO DIAGNOSIS THE PROBLEM. ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2016, A SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVE FROM BEAU TOWNSEND FORD INFORMED ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE DOOR LATCH AND THE COST TO REPAIR IS APPROXIMATELY $385.00 PER LATCH. HE ALSO INFORMED ME THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR.NEXT, I CALLED THE CRC TO APPEAL THE DECISION.I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT A RECALL ITEM AND THAT FORD WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT I HAD NO FURTHER RECOURSE REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
DURING ACCELERATION THE CAR SHAKES, LOSES ACCELERATION AND CUTS OUT. IT HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES THIS WEEK (IN TRAFFIC) TO THE POINT WHERE I HAD TO KICK ON THE HAZARDS REALLY QUICK AND FIND MY WAY TO SAFETY. ONCE IT IS CUT OFF, PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT ACTS LIKE NOTHING WAS EVER WRONG. THE ONLY LIGHT THAT COMES ON IT THE YELLOW WRENCH ON THE DASH WITH NO OTHER WARNINGS OR INFORMATION.
CAR DRIVING AT ANY SPEED WILL ABRUPTLY SHOW YELLOW WRENCH, LOSE POWER AND ACCELERATION, STEERING BECOMES HEAVY AND YOU HAVE TO FIGHT TO GET THE NOW SHAKING CAR TO SIDE OF ROAD. AFTER SWITCHING OFF IGNITION, WAITING TEN SECONDS, IT RESTARTS AND RUNS PERFECTLY FOR ANOTHER FEW WEEKS. DEALERSHIP CANNOT REPLICATE ISSUE. MY RESEARCH POINTS IN THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY ISSUE. HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 12 TIMES IN 18 MONTHS. EACH OF DIFFERING TERROR AND DANGER, BUT NO-ONE CAN HELP, DESPITE OTHERS ONLINE HAVING SAME ISSUE.

VEHICLE LEFT REAR DOOR INDICATOR WAS 'DOOR AJAR" . DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOR LOCK DOOR AND DOME LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OUT - THIS DEPLETED THE BATTERY. LEFT REAR DOOR LATCH REPLACED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH $100.00 DEDUCTIBLE. BATTERY WAS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND BATTERY WAS REPLACED UNDER BATTERY WARRANTY. ALL WORK DONE AT FORD DEALER.
MY DRIVERS DOOR WILL NOT LATCH. DUE TO THIS MY DOME LIGHT REMAINS ON WHICH CAUSES IT TO BE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE MY CAR AT NIGHT. IT ALSO DRAINS MY BATTERY ON A REGULAR BASIS. MY LOCAL DEALER DID SOMETHING AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE TO "FIX IT", HOWEVER IT HAS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM A FORD DEALER ALMOST TO YEARS AGO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD TO COMPLETELY STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (JOE RIZZA FORD, 8100 W 159TH ST, ORLAND PARK, IL 60462) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE STILL RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE STILL RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE FLUSHED/CLEANED AND THE BRAKE FLUID WAS FILLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE STILL RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HCU VACUUM PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR UNTIL DECEMBER 25, 2017. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-392-3673 AND WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY RECORDED THE MESSAGE AND WOULD FORWARD IT TO THE SERVICE MANAGER. CASE NUMBER: CAS-13526479 WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,369.
DRIVER'S DOOR SENSOR IS BAD. VEHICLE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THAT THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS CLOSED AND WILL NOT LOCK OR AUTOMATICALLY TURN OFF INTERIOR LIGHTS. AT NIGHT, I HAVE TO BACK OUT OF A LONG DRIVEWAY ONLY BEING ABLE TO USE THE BACKUP CAMERA. ONCE IN FORWARD MOTION, THE LIGHT WILL EVENTUALLY TURN OFF BUT THE DRIVER'S DOOR WILL NOT LOCK. WHAT IS TO PREVENT SOMEONE FROM WALKING UP TO AND OPENING MY CAR DOOR WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT?? ON ONE OCCASION, THE DOOR AJAR ICON DID NOT COME ON WHEN STARTING THE CAR BUT CAME ON ABOUT 8 MILES DOWN THE ROAD. ALSO, WHEN YOU PARK THE CAR AND LOCK IT, IT STILL DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THAT THE DOOR IS SHUT AND DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY TURN THE LIGHTS OFF AGAIN. THE FORD DEALERSHIP WANTS AROUND $600.00 TO FIX THIS ISSUE, I PAID THEM $65.00 TO "CLEAN THE SENSOR" BECAUSE THE GUY SAID THAT IT MIGHT CORRECT THE ISSUE OR AT LEAST HOLD IT OFF A WHILE. I PICKED THE CAR BACK UP 3 DAYS AGO AND NOW THAT DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON ALL THE TIME. BEFORE, I COULD AT LEAST OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR ABOUT 3-4 TIMES AND THE LIGHT WOULD GO OFF.

THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS WAITING TO DETERMINE IF THERE WAS A MANUFACTURER CAMPAIGN TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE OR A SOLUTION TO PREVENT THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK ON 9/2/16 MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN WHEN I LOSS ACCELERATION. THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING BUT I HAD NO GAS PEDAL. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THANK GOD I DID NOT GET REAR ENDED. THE PANEL SHOWED A WRENCH. I WAS TOWED TO A SHOP AND THEY CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY AND SAID I SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO. WELL YESTERDAY GOT UP TO GO TO THE GROCERY STORE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED, NO ACCELERATION. IT TOOK ME 20 MINS TO GET AROUND THE BLOCK AND BACK INTO MY GARAGE. MY CAR ONLY HAS APPX. 40,000 MILES AND I FEEL IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. UPON RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. MY FORD. EDGE HAS A PROBLEM WITH A MODULE SYSTEM THAT IT IS OUTDATED MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT IF I DONT TAKE IT TO THE FORD DEALER TO GET IT RECALL IT CAN CAUSE MY CAR TO OVER HEAT ND CATCH FIRE.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR ALERT. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT SHUT OFF DUE TO A FAULTY DOOR LATCH. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING IN REVERSE AND NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE BECAUSE THE LIGHT IS ON!!!

DRIVER DOOR AJAR STAYED ON....INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYED ON....DOORS WOULD NOT STAY LOCKED....HIGH BEAMS WOULD NOT TURN OFF. COULD NOT DRIVE MY VEHICLE AT NIGHT. ALL SAFETY CONCERNS. I JUST PAID FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR NEW SWITCH ASSEMBLY AND DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY AND LABOR. TOTAL COST WAS 833.19 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN I MENTIONED TO THE DEALER THAT I HAD SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THEY DIDN'T CARE AT ALL. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO PAY TO REPAIR.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE REAR PASSENGER RIM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
DOOR LATCH AND DOOR AJAR LIGHT ISSUES. WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT REMAINS ON. THIS CAUSES SEVERAL SAFETY ISSUES. IT WILL NOT ALLOW FOR THE DOOR TO LOCK. THE DOME LIGHTS REMAIN ON WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS PARKED OR DRIVING. THE DOMES LIGHTS REMAINING ON WILL ALSO DRAIN THE CAR BATTERY. IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED BY THE DEALER TWO TIMES PRIOR, BUT THE REPAIR DOESN'T LAST LONG. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE FOR THE VEHICLE.
NOTIFICATION OF A BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE. MY CAR IS SERVICED REGULARLY AND THE BRAKES WERELWAYS STATED AS NORMAL. I SEEN AN ALERT ON YOUR WEBSITE ABOUT THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND WHEN I TALKED TO FORD THE WOMAN STATED IF YOU ARE NOT HAVING PROBLEMS FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. I GUESS YOU HAVE TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT. SHE DID SAY I COULD TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALER AND HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT WHICH MEANS I BEAR THE COST SINCE IT IS BEYOND WARRANTY. SINCE I CONTACTED FORD THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I NEARLY GOT INJURED AS THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP AND KEPT ROLLING.. THERE WAS 81000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. ANOTHER PROBLEM THE VEHICLE IS HAVING IS A DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATION. I HAD IT REPAIRED ONCE AT 23156 MILES. I NOW HAVE IT AGAIN. THERE HAS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE DOOR MECHANISM. I HEAR FORD HAS A FIX AS A WORK AROUND. WHEN THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP AS THE PEDAL WOULD NOT DEPRESS AND REMAINED HARD AND FULL
PURCHASED MY 2011 FORD EDGE IN JUNE/JULY OF 2014 FOR JC LEWIS FORD IN SAVANNAH, GA. TURNS OUT THERE WAS AN "EXTENDED WARRANTY" IN PLACE BECAUSE THE BRAKE BOOSTER'S IN THIS CAR HAVE BEEN FAILING. I'M NOT SURE WHY THEY WOULD HAVE SOLD ME A CAR WITHOUT COMPLETING A REPAIR OR INFORMING ME OF THE POSSIBILITY OF MALFUNCTION. ABOUT A MONTH AGO, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 65 MPH WHEN I WAS CUT OFF BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHEN I WENT TO TAP THE BRAKES TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL, NOTHING HAPPENED! I HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKES ABOUT HALFWAY DOWN TO GET THE CRUISE CONTROL TO DISENGAGE AND, EVEN THEN, IT FELT LIKE I DID NOT HAVE POWER BRAKES.
AFTER THE CAR IS SRARTED THE DOOR AJAR WARNING IS DISPLAYED. THE WARNING CAN BE CLEARED, BUT THE POWER DOOR LOCKS MALFUNCTION. THE DOORS WILL LOCK,BUT THEY IMEDIATLY UNLOCK. THIS IS THE CASE ANYTIME, ANYWHERE THE CAR IS RUNNING. GOING ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS.
1.A WRENCH SHAPED LIGHT CAME ON FROM INSTRUMENT PANEL, AND HAVING A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING. 2.THE ACCELERATOR STOPS WORKING OR HAS EXTREMELY LIMITED POWER. 3.AFTER POWER OFF THE VEHICLE AND WAIT FOR 10-15 MINUTES TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, THE WRENCH SHAPED LIGHT GOES AWAY AND THE VEHICLE IN DRIVABLE CONDITION AGAIN. BUT THE PROBLEM COULD HAPPEN AGAIN WITHIN A DAY OR IN FEW DAYS. IT IS REALLY DANGEROUS WHILE DURING IN HIGHWAY OR IN BUSY ROADS WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED. THE PROBLEM HAPPENS RANDOMLY. SOMETIMES IT COULD HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES IN A DAY, SOMETIMES IT WON'T HAPPEN IN A WEEK. I CALLED FORD DEALERS AND THEY SAID TO DIAGNOSTIC IT FOR $98 AND ONLY WHEN THE SYMPTOM HAPPENS THEY WILL BE ABLE TO FIND THE REAL CAUSE. I SEARCHED ONLINE AND IT'S A VERY COMMON PROBLEM TO 2010 -2013 FORD EDGE OWNERS.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON, DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK AND OVERHEAD LIGHTS REMAINED ON. ISSUE WAS FIRST REPORTED 8/19/2016. THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR LIGHT WOULD REMAIN ON WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND PARKED. THE DEALER NOTES INDICATE: "PERFORMED TSB 15-0013A, REMOVE THE DOOR LATCH ON ONE (1) FRONT DOOR AND CYCLE THE LATCH FOLLOWING THE SERVICE PROCEDURE.". LIGHT REMAINED OFF UNTIL 12/2016. THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR WOULD COME ON AND NOT GO OFF - BOTH IN MOTION AND PARKED. ON 1/13/17 DEALER NOTES: "CAUSE: 23943A TRIM PANEL - FRONT DOOR - REMOVE AND INSTALL (23942/23943) - L. 1 8T4Z*7821813*B LATCH 23942A6R LATCH ASSEMBLY - FRONT DOOR - REPLACE (21812/21813/219A64/219A65) - L. I WAS CHARGED A DEDUCTIBLE OF $50. I ASKED ABOUT A RECALL AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NONE.
DOOR AJAR NOT SENSING DOOR CLOSED ON FRONT RIGHT DOOR. THE LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE IN MOTION.
DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON. 44,000 MILES, GARAGE STORED. ALARMS IN MIDDLE OF NIGHT. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. LIGHTS COME ON AND KILL BATTERY. BACK UP CAMERA DOES NOT WORK WITH THIS WARNING. THIS MAY HAPPEN WHEN YOU ENTER THE VEHICLE, GOING DOWN THE ROAD, ARE JUST PARKED IN GARAGE.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON. SOMETIMES TURNS OFF. ALARM GOES OFF RANDOMLY BECAUSE OF THIS, DOORS DO NOT LOCK WHILE CAR IS MOVING, DOME LIGHTS STAY ON
THE DRIVERS SIDE "DOOR AJAR" INDICATOR LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF AFTER CAR IS STARTED. THIS AFFECTS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND PARKING LIGHTS AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. MOST IMMEDIATE AFFECT IS A DRAINED/DEAD BATTERY. ALSO SAFETY CONCERNS BECAUSE INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON AT NIGHT FOR SOME TIME MAKING VISIBILITY DIFFICULT WHEN BEGINNING TO INITIALLY DRIVE.
FORD EDGE 2011 JUST OVER 39,000 MILE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WOULD COME ON OFTEN BUT AFTER CLOSING SEVERAL TIMES WOULD GET IT TO TURN OFF. CLEANED AND LUBED DOOR LOCK AREA, AND HELPED PROBLEM FOR A SHORT TIME. NOW LIGHT IS ON PERMANENTLY, DOORS WILL NOT LOCK VIA AUTOMATIC NOR INTERIOR DOOR LOCK SWITCH WHILE DRIVING. EXTERIOR DOOR SWITCH NUMBER PAD WILL NOT LOCK DOOR WHILE PARKED. REMOVED 15 AMP INTERIOR LIGHT FUSE TO AVOID BATTERY DRAINAGE.
THE 2 FRONT DOOR SWITCHES WORK SOMETIMES. WHEN PARKED THE CAR THINKS THE DOORS ARE OPEN AND KEEPS THE LIGHTS ON. SOMETIMES FOR NO REASON THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TURN ON AND IT DRAINS THE BATTERY. PLUS WHEN THE SWITCHES ARE NOT WORKING THE CAR DOES NOT THINK THAT IT IS LOCKED AND WILL BEEP TWICE WHEN LOCKING THE CAR. WHEN THE SWITCHES HAVE FAILED THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED BECAUSE THE LIGHTS WILL JUST COME ON WHEN IN A STORE AND THE BATTERY WILL DRAIN DOWN TO WHERE THE CAR WILL NOT START.
THIS VEHICLE HAS 64,000 MILES AND THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HAS THE DOOR AJAR PROBLEM, DOOR AJAR WARNING STAYS ON IF DOOR IS OPEN OR CLOSED, ALSO FROM THE LOOKS OF THINGS THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ISSUED ONE OR MORE TIMES IN THE PAST.. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FOR THIS, SEARCHING THE PROBLEM I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS PROBLEM IS BIG WITH MANY FORD PRODUCTS AND FOR ME WILL DECIDE IF I BUY AMERICAN MADE VEHICLES IN THE FUTURE. ALSO I HAVE FOUR MORE DOORS THAT USE THE SAME AJAR SYSTEM JUST WAITING TO GO BAD.
DOOR AJAR STAYS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED, DRIVERS DOOR AND PASSENGER DOOR. DOME LIGHTS STAY ON AND DOORS DO NOT LOCK WHEN DRIVING, ALSO COMES ON IN MIDDLE OF NIGHT WHEN THE CAR IS JUST SETTING AND NOBODY AROUND IT. AT NIGHT WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO BACK UP THE LIGHT IS AFFECTING THE SIGHT SINCE IT GLARES IN YOUR EYES CAUSING YOU TO BE UNABLE TO SEE WHAT IS AROUND YOU. I PUT A DATE OF TODAY BUT THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A MONTH.
EIGHT TIMES WITHIN THE PAST 60 DAYS WE HAVE BEEN DRIVING OUR CAR AND WITH NO WARNING IT SLOWS AND WILL NOT PICK UP SPEED UNTIL WE TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON A WRENCH APPEARS IN THE DASHBOARD, WE HAVEN'T HAD ANY ACCIDENTS BUT WE ARE AFRAID TO DIVE THE CAR ON THE INTERSTATE ITS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE WE ARE IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME AND THIS HAPPENS. *TR
"DRIVER DOOR AJAR" WARNING ON DASH, AND INTERIOR LIGHTS ON, WHILE DOOR CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS ON AT NIGHT INTERFERE WITH NIGHT VISION AND, ESPECIALLY, REAR VIEW MIRROR VISION. ALSO DRAINS BATTERY OVER NIGHT. STARTED AS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, BUT NOW CONSTANT.
I PURCHASED THE CERTIFIED USED EDGE IN OCTOBER OF 2013. I HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE IT HAS LOST ALL POWER ON ME TWICE IN THE LAST MONTH. ONCE WHILE SITTING IDLE AND JUST TONIGHT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD JUST ENOUGH TIME TO PUT MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON TO ALERT THE VEHICLE APPROACHING MY VEHICLE. IT TOOK SEVERAL MINUTES FOR ME TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AS I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE. I CALLED FOR AAA TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED HOME. WHILE WAITING I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. JUST AS THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND THE WRENCH SYMBOL WAS GONE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE SO I STILL HAD IT TOWED. I WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE SHOP ON MONDAY MORNING. HOPEFULLY THEY CAN FIND AND FIX THE ISSUE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. I COULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED OR KILLED IN A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING ONLINE TO SEE IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS AS IF MANY FORD EDGE OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. THEN I CHECKED FOR A RECALL AND CANNOT SEEM TO FIND ONE. I WOULD HATE FOR SOMEONE TO BE SERIOUSLY INJURED BEFORE THIS PROBLEM IS SOLVED OR DEALT WITH BY FORD MOTORS.

ADDITIONALLY, DOME LIGHTS STUCK ON WHILE DRIVING ALSO POSES A SAFETY HAZARD. WHEN VEHICLE IS OFF AND DOME LIGHTS STAY ON, THIS DRAINS THE BATTERY AS WELL AS FUSES. WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE BATTERY AS WELL AS FUSES. WE RECENTLY HAD TO PAY $1144.40 TO HAVE THE DOOR LATCHES REPLACED AND WERE TOLD THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD. I REACHED OUT TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. DATE AND MILEAGE MAY NOT BE ACCURATE AS THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR MANY YEARS, HOWEVER WE FINALLY HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO REPLACE THE DOOR LATCHES WHEN MY HUSBAND'S WHEELCHAIR WAS STUCK IN THE BACK BECAUSE THE FUSE HAD BLOWN AND THE BACK HATCH DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN.

FORD DID ISSUE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 19N09 REFUND FOR THE DRIVER SIDE LATCH, HOWEVER I HAD TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE LATCH AS WELL SO WOULD LIKE A REFUND ON BOTH LATCHES. DOOR AJAR LIGHTS STAY ON WHICH CAUSES AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS TO FAIL, DOME LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON WHILE DRIVING AS WELL AS WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED AND TURNED OFF. MY VEHICLE SMELLS LIKE GAS AFTER 5 MINUTES DRIVING. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THEY COULD TELL ME THE PROBLEM AND INSISTED THEY DID NOT SMELL NOTHING. I VERY CONCERN. I HAVE A LOUD POPPING NOISE WHEN I TURN TO THE LEFT. WHEN I PULL INTO A PARKING STALL AND WHEN I BACK OUT AND U TURNS.ITS BEEN TO TWO DIFFERANT SHOPS. ONE SHOP REPLACED THE STRUT, STRUT TOWER BARRING ,LOWER A ARM,AXEL,STRUT MOUNT,AND THE POWER STEERING.THE NOISE IS STILL THERE.THE NEXT SHOP REPLACES THE RACK AND PINION AND ITS STILL THERE. ITHY SAID IT IS A BREAK IN THE BODY WELD SOME WERE BUT THY DONT KNOW WERE. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND SPOK WITH A GENTELMAN NAMED MARK BUT HE WAS OF NO HELP TO ME. I TOOL THE VEHICLE TO A AUTOBODY SHOP BUT THY COULD NOT FIGUER IT OUT EITHER. IF THERE IS A BREAK IN THE WELD ITS IS A UNSAFE CAR TO DRIVE. MARK FROM FORD MOTER COMPANY WILL NOT RETURN MY PHONE CALLS TO TRY AND HELP ME RESOLVE THE ISSUE.ITS BEEN TWO MONTHS I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS AND I CANT GET NO HELP THE ONE TIME I SPOK WITH MARK FROM FORD HE WAS SAYING IF THE CAR CANT BE FIXED HE WOULD TAKE THE STEPS TO GET ME OUT OF THE CAR AND INTO SOMETHING ELSE BUT LIKE I SAID I HAVE YET TO SEEP WITH HIM.IM TO THE PIONT THAT IF WE CANT GET THIS RESOLVED IM GOING TO GET A LAWER .IN THE WHOLE PROSSES IM PAYING FOR A VEHICLE I DONT WANT RO PUT MY KIDS IN LET ALONE DRIVE IT NOT KNOWING IF SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN SO PLEAS HELP ME IN ANY WAY POSSABLE.
