WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE POWER TRAIN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED (THE WRENCH LIGHT) APPEARED. THE ENGINE THEN BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND STALLED. EVERYTHING STILL WORKING BUT WHEN YOU PUSHED THE GAS NO PAOWER. MANEUVERED OFF THE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE. WORKED PROPERLY AFTER RESTARTING. CONCERNED IT WILL DO IT AGAIN IN TRAFFIC.
ON 9/9 I LEFT ORANGE BEACH AL TO DRIVE HOME TO JONESBORO AR WITH MY 2011 FORD EDGE - IT QUIT ON ME AT LEAST 45 TIMES. I WENT TO 2 FORD DEALERS, ONE MECHANIC ON THE ROAD. FIRST FORD DEALER HAD NO CLUE HOW TO FIX IT AND TOLD ME TO LEAVE 3 OR 4 DAYS. NEXT FORD DEALER WANTED 1500.00 4 HOURS AND MAYBE MORE. SO I KEPT DRIVING SINCE PART COSTS 184.00. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF. NO POWER STEERING, NOW BRAKES NO NOTHING. IF I COULD I GOT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED ON MY FLASHERS. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND CRANKED IT BACK UP. SEVERAL TIMES ON THE ONE LANE ROAD HEADED INTO HATTIESBURG I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BY 18 WHEELERS AND NO SIDE AREA TO PULL OVER - MY CAR JUST QUIT - STOPPED AND I STOPPED. I GOT TO JACKSON 6 LANE ROAD 5:00 P.M RUSH HOUR AND MY CAR QUIT 6 TIMES AND I ALMOST GOT HIT THERE SEVERAL TIMES. MY WRENCH ICON COMES ON, MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON, MY ENGINE LIGHT IS ON NOW ALSO. THE CAR ABRUPTLY STOPS - THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS - MY HUSBAND GOT A CAR HAULER AND HEADED TOWARD ME AND MET ME OUT OF JACKSON. ONCE, IT STOPPED TO ABRUPTLY THAT MY DOGS HIT THE DASHBOARD IN THE FRONT SEAT AND WERE SO SCARED. THEY WERE IN THE BACKSEAT. I HAVE GRANDCHILDREN THAT RIDE WITH ME - SO CAN YOU IMAGINE THE ISSUES THAT COULD HAPPEN WHEN THIS CAR JUST SHUTS OFF. THIS IS A SEVERE PROBLEM THAT FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS AND SO DOES SAFERCAR.GOV. I CALLED FORD TODAY AND THEY ALL BUT LAUGHED AT ME AND SAID I NEEDED TO GET A NEW THROTTLE BODY INSTALLED AND PAY FOR IT THAT THE 2011 FORD EDGE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03 THAT I FOUND ON A WEBSITE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS IMMEDIATELY. I COULD HAVE DIED YESTERDAY TRYING TO GET HOME - DID FORD CARE NO - THEY WILL WHEN SOMEONE DIES.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STARTED COMING ON FOR DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR. YOU COULD GET OUT AND SLAM THE DOOR AND IT WOULD GO OUT. THIS HAS BEEN STEADLY GETTING WORSE. NOW ANYTIME YOU GET IN THE CAR, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO OPEN THE REAR DOOR AND THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON AND THE INSIDE DOME LIGHTS COME ON. I CAN SAY "OK" TO THE NOTICE AND THE MESSAGE WILL DISAPPEAR BUT THE SMALL CAR INDICATOR WILL STAY ON ON THE DASH. THE REAL PROBLEM IS THE INSIDE DOME LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OUT UNTIL THE CAR PICKS UP SOME SPEED. THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM AT NIGHT ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE TRYING TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND THE LIGHTS ARE ON INSIDE THE CAR. I AM NOT SURE OF THE EXACT DATE THAT THIS STARTED, BUT IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. I JUST PICKED A DATE BELOW.
WHILE DRIVING SEVERAL TIMES, THE CAR WOULD STALL OUT. THE AWD AND WRENCH LIGHT WOULD COME ON. UNABLE TO ACCELERATE OR DRIVE ANY FURTHER. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY OTHER VEHICLES TWICE TRYING TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP OUT OF TOWN AND WAS FOUND TO HAVE A DEFAULTED THROTTLE BODY. HAVE NOTICED THE SAME COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ONLINE. THINKING THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS PART BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS SERIOUSLY HURT. IT COST ME 647.57 TO HAVE THIS FIXED PLUS TRAVELING EXPENSES TO PICK UP MY CAR AND RENT A CAR.
ENGINE STALLS, CHANGES TO LIMP HOME MODE. THIS CAN HAPPEN DURING ACCELERATION OR AT SPEED. THE ERROR WRENCH LIGHTS. THIS HAS RESULTED IN AN UNSAFE DECELERATION IN TRAFFIC. DEALER FINDS NO CODE IN THE SYSTEM. ENGINE WILL RUN FINE AFTER SHUTDOWN AND RESTART. THE INCIDENTS OCCUR ON SURFACE STREETS, INTERSECTIONS, AND AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE FORD CASE NUMBER IS CASE NUMBER CAS7831451V2Q4H3. NO SATISFACTION FROM FORD AT THIS TIME.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR/WARNING WILL NOT CLEAR
AT 4 SEPARATE TIMES MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING HAD A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I WAS FORCED TO COAST TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ON TO THE SHOULDER WITH OTHER VEHICLES ALL AROUND ME GOING 70 MPH. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT. IT HESITATED, BUT DID START AGAIN, AND THEN DROVE FINE 10 MINUTES BEFORE DOING THE EXACT SAME THING AGAIN! I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY PERSON AT THE DESK KNEW WHAT IT WAS RIGHT AWAY WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT THE CAR: THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS IS APPARENTLY A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES, AND FORD HAS ALREADY ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR OTHER CARS WITH A SIMILAR PROBLEM. FOR THE EDGE, HOWEVER, I AM BEING FORCED TO PAY $600 TO REPAIR IT OR RISK MY LIFE BY CONTINUING TO DRIVE IT AS IT IS. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THEY HAVE EVEN REDESIGNED THE PART. THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THE PART BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS HURT (OR WORSE) BECAUSE OF THEIR MISTAKE!
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS ALWAYS AJAR. THE DRIVER AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON AT ALL TIMES. THIS CAUSES THE DOME LIGHTS TO STAY ON AT ALL TIMES AND RUN THE BATTER DEAD. USELESS TO PURCHASE ANEW BATTERY! ALSO, THIS CAUSES THE SECURITY SYSTEM TO NOT WORK AND I HAVE TRIED THE WD 40 THING AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT HAS BEEN SUGGESTED TO ME AND NOTHING WORKS. BATTERY IS ALWAYS DEAD AND RECHARGING AND JUMPING ALL THE TIME. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW.
I BELIEVE THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY HAS FAILED AS THE EDGE HAS SIMILAR MALFUNCTIONS AS OTHER FORDS AFFECTED BY THE DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. THE EDGE DIES IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING AND DISPLAY A WRENCH ON THE SYNC SYSTEM.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT WARNING REMAINS ON AFTER DOOR IS CLOSED. DOME LIGHTS REMAIN ON FOR 5 MINUTES OR LONGER AND CREATES A VISIBILITY ISSUE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. THE DOORS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. PASSENGER DOOR WHEN OPENED AND CLOSED ALSO KEEPS DOME LIGHTS ON FOR EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME.
CLOSED DOOR SENSOR FAULTY. CAUSES INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON, DOORS FAIL TO REMAIN LOCKED WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE.
WHEN DRIVING THE CAR, IT JUST PERIODICALLY LOST ACCELERATION ABILITY. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35-40 MPH WHEN IT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME. I THEN COASTED INTO A PARKING LOT OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE CAR FOR A FEW MINUTES. AT THAT TIME THE WRENCH SYMBOL CAME ON THE DISPLAY REFERRING ME TO MY MANUAL FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, WHICH TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A POWERTRAIN PROBLEM AND TO CONTACT A DEALER FOR SERVICE. IT THEN STARTED FINE AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT FOR SOME TIME. THE NEXT DAY THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I THEN HAD A FEW DAYS OF NORMAL DRIVING, AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN BUT THIS TIME IT SEEMED TO JUST DECELERATE MORE RAPIDLY (UNABLE TO COAST TO A STOP), IT JUST STOPPED BUT WAS STILL RUNNING. I THEN SHUT IT OFF AND THEN STARTED IT BACK UP AND DROVE IT HOME WHERE I LEFT IT UNTIL BEING ABLE TO GET INTO A SHOP FOR SERVICE WHICH WAS A WEEK LATER. AT THE TIME OF THIS PROBLEM, THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY WAS AVAILABLE UNTIL JUNE, 2016 OR 60,000 MILES. AT THIS TIME THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 51,700 MILES ON IT. ULTIMATELY THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A BAD THROTTLE BODY WHICH WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND THE COST OF REPAIR WAS $548.14 AT A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THIS APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE 2011 FORD ESCAPES HAD FOR WHICH THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE SPEED DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS, WHO CONFIRMED THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED A SPECIAL CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM RELATED TO THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

THE CONTACT MANEUVERED OFF THE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

IN ADDITION, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND THE SERVICE VEHICLE SOON WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
DRIVING APROX. 40 MPH WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON, CALL DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHAT WOULD CAUSE IT. THEY SAY TO KEEP DRIVING UNTIL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN BRING IT INTO BE CHECKED (100.00). CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 3 DAYS LATER, I HAD A LITTLE COMPUTER IT READ CODE P0744, TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH CIRCUIT INTERMITTENT, GENERIC CODE FOR POWER TRAIN PROBLEM. TOOK IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THEIR COMPUTER WAS READING THAT CODE AS WELL AS NEEDING A NEW PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE). THIS IS COSTING APROX. $655.00 AND THEY ARE NOT SURE IF THAT IS THE ONLY THING IT NEEDS, ONCE THIS IS FIXED THE COMPUTER COULD READ SOMETHING ELSE. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO GAVE US A PRINTOUT STATING THIS IS A COMMON AND KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE FORD EDGE 2011-2012. CALLED FORD CORP. THEY WERE NOT VERY HELPFUL OTHER THAN SUGGESTING FILING A COMPLAINT. WE WERE TOLD THIS PROBLEM COULD SHUT THE CAR DOWN COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING, IT MAKES ME A LITTLE SCARED TO DRIVE IT, I DON'T NEED IT BREAKING DOWN WITH MY CHILD IN THE CAR. NOT HAPPY WITH PAYING $100.00 TO BE TOLD IT'S GOING TO COST ANOTHER $650.00 AND IT MAY NOT EVEN FIX THE PROBLEM.

DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING POPPED UP WHEN I GOT INTO MY CAR IN THE MORNING. CLOSED IT MULTIPLE TIMES BUT WOULD NOT GO AWAY AND INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAINED ON. DEALERSHIP STATED THERE IS A TSB FOR THIS ISSUE AND THEY WILL NEED TO REMOVE DOOR PANEL, LUBRICATE MECHANISM AND RESET MECHANISM. CAR WAS FINE. NEXT DAY, DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIT UP WHILE DRIVING. WAS UNABLE TO GET WARNING TO GO AWAY. INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON. MECHANISM IS STIFFER NOW AND LOCKED INTO PLACE WHEN I WAS TRYING TO GET THE WARNING TO GO AWAY AND I WAS UNABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR. AFTER A UNLOCKING/LOCKING, OPENING DOOR HANDLE, FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GET MECHANISM TO MOVE SO THE DOOR COULD BE CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAINED ON BECAUSE WARNING LIGHT REMAINS. I PAID $100 WARRANTY DEDUCTIBLE TO GET IT FIXED AND NOW IT IS WORSE. FORD - REPORT AS RECALL AND FIX THIS!! WHAT IF IT GETS STUCK AGAIN WHILE I AM IN THE CAR? I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT BY DRIVER SIDE DOOR. I ALSO DON'T WANT TO BE STUCK WITH A DEAD BATTERY. I AM FEMALE!!
DRIVING DOWN SIDE ROAD (THANK HEAVENS) LOST ALL POWER, NO SPEED CONTROL, COASTING TO STOP IN TRAFFIC. SMALL WRENCH SIGNAL SHOWING AWD OFF. STOPPED CAR - RE STARTED CAR AND HAD POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS AS IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY BEING SEPTEMBER 6TH 2015. SEEING MANY REPORTS OF THIS SAME EXPERIENCE ON INTERNET FORUM, SHOWING REPLACING THROTTLE BODY FOR THE FIX. NEED TO HAVE RE CALL AND CORRECT PROBLEMS PRIOR TO SERIOUS ACCIDENTS IN HIGH VOLUME TRAFFIC. THIS IS THE FORD 3.7 SIX CYLINDER ENGINE IN THE 2011 FORD EDGE. INTERNET SHOWS THIS PROBLEM IN MANY OF THE FORD VEHICLES...VERY VERY DANGEROUS. PLEASE ADVISE OF CURRENT STATUS OR RECALL NOTICES. I HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANY RECALLS AT THIS TIME. THANK YOU. *TR
DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT GOT OUT AND AT NIGHT TIME THIS IS A REAL HAZARD FROM BEING BLINDED FROM THE LIGHTS AND YOU CAN'T TURN THEM OFF, ALSO THE DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT SET BECAUSE OF THIS SWITCH AND OTHER SAFETY HAZARD. IT HAPPEN ABOUT 1 MONTH AGO AND HAS BEEN A ONGOING PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES DOWN THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT (DRIVERS DOOR) AND INTERIOR LIGHT STAY ON, REPEATED CLOSING SOMETIMES SHUTS OFF LIGHTS
THE DRIVER DOOR SENSOR IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE DOOR NEVER REGISTERS AS "CLOSED" AND AS SUCH IT INTERMITTENTLY SETS OFF THE CAR ALARM AND DRAINS THE BATTERY WHEN THE CAR IS NOT IN USE.
DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR SWITCH FAILS TO REGISTER WHEN DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED, LEAVING INTERIOR LIGHTS ON MAKING NIGHT VISIBILITY POOR, MAKING LOCKING THE DOORS IMPOSSIBLE WHICH IMPACTS SAFTY BOTH IN THE PARKING LOT AND DURING TRAVEL. RUNS BATTERY DOWN, STRANDING DRIVER.
WIPERS HAVE A MIND OF THEIR OWN COMING ON WHEN EVER THEY WANT TO AND RUN ON INTERMITTENT. YOU COULD START THE CAR AND THE WIPERS START. DURING LOVE BUG SEASON SMEARING LOVE BUG GUTS ALL OVER THE WINDOW. CAUSING A DISTRACTION, NOT ONLY TO YOU BUT TO OTHER DRIVERS. TRYING TO FIDDLE WITH THE WIPER CONTROL TRYING TO GET IT TO STOP. I TOOK THE CAR TO NICK NICHOLAS FORD IN CRYSTAL RIVER FL ON 8-26-15 AM. THEY SAID THEY LOOKED AT IT AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. DROVE TO WORK AND AT 11:00 AM ON 8-26-15 IT STARTED AGAIN AND ABOUT EVERY 35 SECONDS THEY WIPE ACROSS THE DRY WINDSHIELD. I CHECKED ON THE INTERNET AND OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
THE DRIVER'S DOOR SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING. CAUSES A HAZARD AS THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS REMAIN ON (A NASTY CONDITION AT NIGHT), AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK USING THE INTERIOR LOCKING CONTROL SWITCH (NOR DO THEY LOCK AUTOMATICALLY WHEN UNDERWAY).

2011 FORD EDGE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHT FOR DOORS ISSUE. CONSUMER HAS DIFFERENT VEHICLE WITH SAME ISSUE CORRESPONDENCE IN ARTEMIS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DOOR INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE DASH REMAINED ON, AFTER THE DOORS WERE CLOSED. *JB
WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 75 IN KENTUCKY, MY 2011 FORD EDGE LOST POWER, WITH VIOLENT SHUDDERING AND NO ACCELERATION. MANAGED TO MOVE FROM THE MIDDLE LANE TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. SHUT OFF EDGE AND RESTARTED, EVERYTHING RETURNED TO NORMAL. TODAY, AUG, 12 THE EXACT SAME OCCURANCE HAPPENED AGAIN, OTHER THAN SPEED ALL CONDITIONS WERE THE SAME. FORD DEALER SAID IT COULD POSSIBLY BE THE THROTTLE BODY BUT COULD NOT DIAGNOSE UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND VEHICLE IS NOT SHUT OFF AND TAKEN DIRECTLY TO THEM. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE INCIDENT TO HAVE HAPPEN ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH, THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SENSOR IS NOT WORKING. DOOR SHOWS OPEN, AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WON'T TURN OFF. WON'T LOCK DOORS AND SEVERAL OTHER PROBLEMS. FROM ALL THE FEEDBACK I'VE READ, SURE WOULD LIKE TO SEE FORD DO THE RIGHT THING AND ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. THANKS!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED EVEN WHEN THE DOOR WAS SECURED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT LOCK UNTIL AFTER THE THIRD OR FOURTH ATTEMPT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR WILL NOT GO AWAY. THE SENSOR SEEMS TO BE BROKEN FOR THIS AND THROUGH MY RESEARCH IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. THIS CAUSE THE DOME LIGHTS TO STAY ON, HINDERING VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. FURTHER, THE LIGHTS BOTH INSIDE/OUTSIDE AS WELL AS THE CONSOLE STAY ON FOR 10 MINUTES IF DOOR IS CLOSED AND LOCKED. THIS IN TURN DRAINS THE BATTERY SOMETIMES REQUIRING A BOOST.
MY 2011 FORD EDGE INSIDE INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON FOR SEVERAL MINUTES EVERY TIME I GET IN THE CAR, I GUESS ITS THE SENSOR ON MY DOOR BUT ITS HAPPENED ON THE BACK HATCH DOOR AS WELL. ON MY DASHBOARD IT TELL ME THAT I HAVE AN OPEN DOOR WHICH ITS COMPLETELY CLOSED BUT LIGHT STAYS ON UNTIL I DRIVE OFF. OR WHEN I GET OUT OF THE CAR AND LOCK THE DOORS THE LIGHT STAYS ON FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, ITS DRAINING MY BATTERY. WHEN ALL OF THIS HAPPENS I CAN NOT EVEN LOCK MY DOORS WHEN I AM DRIVING THE CAR, I NEED TO LOCK MY DOORS FOR SAFETY PURPOSES, MY DOORS ARE ALWAYS UNLOCK BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. ALSO, CAR ALARM WILL ENGAGE WHEN CAR IS PARKED AND LOCKED.
THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR REMAINS ON. THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. 2ND OCCURRENCE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND NOW THE DEALER WANTS $500.00 TO REPAIR IT. THIS OCCURS IMMEDIATELY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FIRST STARTED AND REMAINS ON THE ENTIRE TIME THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING.
THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR KEEPS ALERTING - ALTHOUGH DOOR IS NOT AJAR - WHEN CAR SITS FOR ANY PERIOD OF TIME THIS DRAINS THE BATTERY. HAVE HAD TO REPLACE BATTERY TWICE. TOO EXPENSIVE TO HAVE DEALER REPAIR.
MY VEHICLE DISPLAYED THE DOOR AJAR ALARM AFTER THE DOOR HAD BEEN SHUT SECURELY. THIS OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY FOR TWO DAYS, AND THEN BEGAN TO OCCUR EVERY TIME I GOT IN THE VEHICLE. A COUPLE DAYS LATER IT WENT BACK TO BEING INTERMITTENT. I WOULD NOT GET THE NOTIFICATION WHEN I FIRST GOT IN THE VEHICLE, BUT THEN THE ALARM WOULD GO OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING.

ABOUT 2-3 WEEKS AGO, WHILE DRIVING IN THE OUTER BANKS, NC, I HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER IN THE VEHICLE AND AN YELLOW WRENCH SIGN CAME. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. ONCE RESTARTED, IT WORKED OK. I WENT TO CAVALIER FORD DEALER AT PORTSMOUTH, VA AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL OR MENTION OF THIS PROBLEM FROM FORD, I WAS TOLD NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. TODAY, WHILE DRIVING WITH MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER, I HAD COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER WITH THE YELLOW WRENCH SIGN AGAIN. I HAD TO PULL ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH HAZARD LIGHTS ON. THE WARNING ON THE DASHBOARD FOR DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR CONTINUES TO COME ON DESPITE THE DOOR BEING SECURELY SHUT. THIS PREVENTS THE DOORS FROM LOCKING. IN ADDITION, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATE AT TIMES WHEN VEHICLE IS OFF DUE TO THE DOOR AJAR WARNING, DRAINING THE VEHICLE BATTERY. THIS CAUSES A SECONDARY SAFETY ISSUE OF BEING STRANDED DUE TO BATTERY BEING DRAINED AND CAR UNABLE TO START.

AFTER COASTING TO A SAFER SPOT TO PULL OVER, I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND STARTED THE CAR AGAIN. DROVE A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD BEFORE IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. LUCKY THAT THERE WASN'T ANY VEHICLES BEHIND ME TO HIT ME. GLAD I WASN'T ON THE INTERSTATE, PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC, OR ATTEMPTING TO PASS SOMEONE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I CONTACTED FORD TODAY AFTER SEEING CSP13N03, WHICH WAS BECAUSE OF THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS PROGRAM. I THEN ASKED THEM WHO TO APPEAL THIS TO AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAVE OPENED A CASE # FOR MY REPORTED PROBLEM BUT THERE WASN'T ANYONE TO APPEAL THEIR DECISION TO, WHATEVER THAT MAY BE OR WHENEVER THAT MAY FINALLY COME. IN THE MEANTIME, I'M STUCK WITHOUT A VEHICLE TO SAFELY TRANSPORT MY CHILDREN IN UNTIL I CAN AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED, WHILE OTHER VEHICLES WHOSE VIN WERE COVERED UNDER THIS PROGRAM WITH THE EXACT SAME TROUBLES WERE COVERED. THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT DOOR LATCH ISN'T WORKING PROPERLY, I WILL BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL MY INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL COME ON AND A MESSAGE WILL APPEAR AND IT SAYS MY DOOR IS OPEN, THIS IS VERY UNSAFE BECAUSE IT HAS HAPPENED AT NIGHT, IT IS VERY DISTRACTING TO DRIVE AT NIGHT WITH ALL THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY GO OFF, THIS ISSUE HAS TO BE FIX ASAP. IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS COLLISION. SHE RESTARTED THE CAR AND TRIED TO MAKE IT HOME SAFELY AND SLOWLY. IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE WAY. THE NEXT DAY (7/20/15), WHEN WE DROVE THE SUV TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT HAPPENED A 3RD TIME. GALPIN FORD (N HILLS, CA) DIAGNOSED IT WITH A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY, NOT COVERED BY OUR 7-YEAR POWERTRAIN LIMITED WARRANTY. THIS IS A CERTIFIED PREOWNED FORD EDGE THAT WE PURCHASED A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO. THROTTLE BODIES SHOULD NOT FAIL WITH 45K MILES ON THE CAR.
