TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED EVEN THOUGH ALL THE DOORS WERE CLOSED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS. THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND CAUSED THE BATTERY TO DRAIN. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE CONTACT HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER A VOLUNTARY RECALL BY THE MANUFACTURER; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCH AND SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
WAS AT A LIGHT MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN SEEMED TO HAVE LOST POWER. ENGINE WAS ON BUT STEPPED ON GAS AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO. ALMOST GOT HIT BY ON COMING CAR. THIS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT HAS NOT DONE IT IN A WHILE. VERY DANGEROUS! *TR
WHEN YOU STOP THE CAR AND PUT INTO PARK A WARNING SIGN COMES ON INDICATING THAT YOU NEED TO PUT THE SHIFT LEVER IN PARK. YOU CAN CLICK THE BUTTON ON THE FORWARD PART OF THE SHIFT LEVER TO RELEASE THE WARNING. I TOOK IT TO FORD AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD REQUIRE THE DISASSEMBLY OF THE SHIFT LEVER TO FIX, SO I TOLD HIM I WOULD LIVE WITH IT. I DIDN'T WANT ANY GREATER PROBLEMS TO ARISE FROM THEIR WORK ON THE SHIFT LEVER. AFTER MY WARRANTY WAS OVER I WAS TOLD THAT A SIMPLE SWITCH ADJUSTMENT WAS ALL THAT'S REQUIRED. WHAT A PAIN, AS IT COMES ON OFTEN! FORD SHOULD FIX THIS.
THE POWER STEERING DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY AT LOW SPEEDS. THIS IS IDENTFIED IN FORD'S TSB 10-21-1 STEERING THE VEHICLE IS VERY DIFFICULT. I'M CONCERNED THAT THE ABILITY TO PROPERLY CONTROL THE VEHICLE AT LOW OR HIGH SPEEDS MAY BECOME A PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. BY ISSUING A TSB, I BELIEVE FORD IS ACKNOWLEDGING THAT THERE IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM - A MAJOR COMPONENT OF VEHICLE SAFETY. THE ADVANCETRAC (STABILITY/ANTI-ROLLOVER SYSTEM) APPEARS TO HAVE FAILED INDICATED BY THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH. INTERMITTENTLY, THE WARNING LIGHT TURNS ON AND THEN OFF WHILE DRIVING OR PARKED WITH ENGINE IDLING. BASED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, I BELIEVE THERE IS A FAULT IN THE STABILITY SYSTEM. FORD TECHNICIANS CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. MANY OTHER OWNERS APPEAR TO BE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE FORD EDGE AND F-150 TRUCKS AMONG OTHER FORD VEHICLES. THE FUEL SYSTEM DISPLAYS A WARNING THAT THE FUEL INLET REQUIRES CHECKING DUE TO A VAPOR LEAK. FORD REPLACED A TRADITIONAL FUEL CAP ASSEMBLY WITH A CAPLESS SYSTEM WHICH APPEARS TO NOT SEAL FULLY OR ALLOWS DEBRIS TO KEEP THE SYSTEM FROM REMAINING FULLY SEALED. THERE APPEARS TO BE MANY OTHER OWNERS WHO EXPERIENCE THIS SAME WARNING LIGHT WITH A MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED THAT CANNOT BE TURNED OFF. IF FUEL VAPOR IS LEAKING, THERE IS RISK OF VEHICLE FIRE OR EXPLOSION. *JS
A MESSAGE SAYING 'DRIVER DOOR AJAR' APPEARS ON THE CONSOLE EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS TIGHTLY SHUT. IF I TRY TO LOCK THE DOORS THE CAR WOULD JUST UNLOCK ALL DOORS EVEN WHILE I'M DRIVING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME WHO DRIVES MY KIDS TO THE DAYCARE AND SCHOOL EVERYDAY. AT NIGHTTIME, THE INTERNAL LIGHTS WOULD ALSO NOT TURN OFF BECAUSE THE CAR THINKS THAT ONE OF THE DOORS IS OPEN. NOT ONLY IS IT DRAINING THE BATTERY, IT IS ALSO BASICALLY BROADCASTING TO EVERYONE THAT THE CAR IS OPEN. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM OCCUR ON THE CAR IN ALMOST EVERY YEAR I OWNED IT (4 YEARS). IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP A NUMBER OF TIMES. THEY FIX IT BUT IT KEEPS COMING BACK PARTICULARLY IN THE SUMMER TIME. I FEEL LIKE IT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND I HAVE RAISED THE ISSUE WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND ALL I HEAR IS 'OH THAT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM' BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE THEY ARE WORKING ON PROVIDING A MORE PERMANENT FIX. THEY NEED TO REALIZE HOW UNSAFE DRIVING WITH ALL DOORS UNLOCKED IS.

DOOR ADJAR SENSOR IS FAULTY. DOME LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING EVEN THOUGH CAR DOOR IS SHUT. SENSOR THINKS CAR DOOR IS OPEN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 1 MPH, THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY INCREASED ACCELERATION AND THEN CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURY TO THE SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION CENTER AND REPAIRED FOR THE EXTERIOR BODY DAMAGES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
I BOUGHT THE EDGE BRAND NEW AND WHEN I WAS 1000 MILES OVER MY WARRANTY MY DOOR AJAR WOULD NOT GO OFF, SO MY INSIDE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON LONGER ALSO UNTIL YOU HIT THE OK BUTTON ON YOUR STEERING WHEEL, THEN IT WILL GO OFF IN A LITTLE WHILE, I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME TO LOOK AT IT, I CALLED FORD AND THEY DIDN'T WANT TO DO NOTHING EITHER. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY DOOR ON MY VEHICLES IN ALL MY LIFE. THIS HAS GOT TO BE A RECALL, THIS IS THE MANUFACTURES PROBLEM, BECAUSE MINE VEHICLE WAS'NT EVEN A YEAR OLD AND I HAD THIS, HOPE THIS HELPS TO GET A RECALL.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE FREEWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN HER VEHICLE WENT "LIMP". WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN "LIMP' MODE THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION AND YOU CAN FEEL HUGE VIBRATIONS AS IF THE ENGINE WAS ABOUT TO DIE. SHE WAS FORCED TO MANEUVER HER WAY THROUGH THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC WITH HER HAZARDS ON IN ORDER TO GET TO A "SAFE" SPOT. THE ONLY WAY SHE WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE SITUATION WAS TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IT. THE ON BOARD COMPUTER HAD A WRENCH LIGHT UP AND A MESSAGE ASKING TO LOOK IN OUR MANUAL. PER OUR MANUAL THIS IS A POWERTRAIN ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES IN LESS THAN FOUR DAYS AND TWICE OUR THREE MONTH OLD SON WAS WITH US/HER. MY WIFE IS CURRENTLY TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND SHE JUST CALLED TO INFORM ME THAT IT HAD HAPPENED THE THIRD TIME. THIS IS A DANGEROUS THING AND HAS DISASTER WRITTEN ALL OVER IT! *JB
"DRIVER DOOR AJAR" LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT WHEN DOOR IS TIGHTLY CLOSED. THIS KEEPS DOORS FROM AUTO-LOCKING WHILE IGNITION IS ON. HAPPENED FIRST TIME IN JUNE 2012, AT 41K MILES,4 MOS AFTER I BOUGHT CERTIFIED USED CAR. DOOR LATCH WAS REPLACED BY DEALER UNDER WARRANTY. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING AGAIN NOW AT 85K MILES, AUGUST 2014. ALSO DOME LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OUT. BATTERY RAN DOWN LAST NITE, COULD NOT START CAR THIS MORNING EVEN THO DOME LIGHTS WENT OUT AT SOME POINT. I WAS IN NORTH GA MTNS WHERE THERE IS NO CELL RECEPTION. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS STILL ONE CAR AT THE SITE WHO COULD JUMP THE BATTERY OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED THERE. I AM A RETIRED 69 YR OLD WOMAN; IT IS NOT SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE WITHOUT DOORS LOCKED OR FOR THE BATTERY TO DIE WHEN THERE IS NO REASON FOR THAT TO HAPPEN. THERE ARE MANY MANY REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM ON FORD EDGE INTERNET SITES. WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL BY FORD? ARE THEY WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO GET HURT/KILLED? WHEN I GO TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW, I ANTICIPATE A $400 REPAIR ESTIMATE. I HOPE THERE IS A BETTER RESULT THAN THAT. *TR
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON. THIS CAUSES ALL DOME LIGHTS TO STAY ON, AT NIGHT IMPAIRS VISION WHEN BACKING UP. MAKES DRIVING VERY UNSAFE FOR FIRST FEW YARDS, DOME AND MAP LIGHTS THEN GO OFF. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND I HAVE HAD ONE LATCH REPLACED. NOW ANOTHER IS DOING IT. FORD DEALER REFUSED TO FIX IT AGAIN, WILL COST ABOUT $300.00 EACH TIME. I FEEL FORD HAS KNOW OF THIS PROBLEM FOR SOME TIME AND SHOULD FIX ALL DOORS ON MODELS AFFECTED, OR FIND SOLUTION TO HAVING LIGHTS STAY ON INSTEAD OF JUST THE WARNING LIGHT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE TRAVELED ANOTHER 15 MILES AT 65 MPH BEFORE STALLING AGAIN. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 54,917.
WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED IN WV IN APRIL 2012. BY MAY, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WAS COMING ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR WAS FORCIBLY CLOSED. THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER, AT AROUND 50K MILES, THE SENSOR WAS BAD AGAIN. ONCE AGAIN, THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THIS TIME BOTH THE DRIVER DOOR AND REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR WERE AFFECTED. NOW IN 2015 AT 104K MILES THE DOOR SENSOR IS BAD AGAIN IN BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR DOOR. NOW, THE LIGHTS WON'T EVEN SHUT OFF AFTER A WHILE SO THE PAST TWO MORNINGS IN A ROW, THE BATTERY IS DEAD. IT'S EXTREMELY IRRITATING AND DANGEROUS. AS OTHERS HAVE STATED, THE DOORS WILL NOT AUTO LOCK WHILE THIS ISSUE IS PRESENT. ALSO, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS DO NOT GO OFF UNTIL YOU REACH 20MPH. THIS MAKES IT VERY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. I HAVE READ THROUGH ALL THE COMPLAINTS LISTED FOR THE FORD EDGE AND MOST OF THEM ARE ABOUT THIS DOOR SENSOR. WHY IS NOTHING BEING DONE ABOUT THIS??
WAS DRIVING IN MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC GOING ABOUT 50MPH ON A HIGHWAY. CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND WENT "LIMP" WITHOUT ANY NOTICE. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. WAS ABLE TO GET CAR TO SIDE OF ROAD BEFORE IT COMPLETELY STOPPED. IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING AS CARS WERE CLOSE BEHIND ME AND COULD HAVE EASILY REAR-ENDED ME. HUSBAND CAME TO THE SCENE AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART CAR AND DRIVE IT. SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. HAD CAR TOWED TO LOCAL SHOP OWNED BY FORD DEALER. THEY CONCLUDED THAT WE HAD CARBON BUILD UP IN THE FUEL SYSTEM THAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THEY CLEANED OUT THE "GUNK" AND CHARGED US $350. FOUR DAYS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME I HAD BOTH OF MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND MY DOG. CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION IN THE MIDDLE OF 5PM TRAFFIC! WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER IN SHOPPING CENTER BEFORE IT COMPLETELY DIED. TOWED IT BACK TO DEALER. THIS TIME THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM, BUT RECALIBRATED IT (WHATEVER "IT" IS). I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS CAR AGAIN FOR FEAR THAT IT WILL HAPPEN WHEN I'M GOING 65MPH ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY! IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. WHEN THE SERVICE TECH DROVE THE VEHICLE INTO THE BAY, THE VEHICLE WAS STILL ACCELERATING. DOOR SENSOR AJAR WILL NOT GO OFF. UNABLE TO LOCK YOUR DOORS WHILE SENSOR STATES AJAR . HAS BEEN TO FORD DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES. THE DEALERSHIP HAS SAID IT FIXED ISSUE BUT THE SENSOR WENT BAD AGAIN. HOWEVER, AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED. IT IS A HAZARD TO YOUR SAFETY NOT TO BE ABLE TO LOCK YOUR DOORS. *TR

2011 FORD EDGE THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR SENSOR STARTED INTERMITTENTLY AND NOW PERMANENTLY MALFUNCTIONSAND WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES. THIS CAUSES THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS TO MALFUNCTIONAND THE DOORS TO UNLOCK. ADDITIONALYTHE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT STAYS ONFOR EXTENDED TIMES THE INABILITY TO LOCK THE DOORS OR FOR THE DOORS TO STAY LOCKED IS A SAFTY ISSUE, THE DOME LIGHT OBSCURES VISION AT NIGHT WHICH IS ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE. I AND THOUSANDS OF FORD EDGE OWNERS WOULD APPRECIATE FORD MOTER COMPANY TAKEING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS FACTORY DEFECT AND SAFETY HAZARD. THIS IS NOT A FACTORY WARRANTY ISSUE FORD IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO FIX. I HAVE SEARCHED THE WORLDWIDENET AND FOUND THIS TO BE A PROBLEM WIT MANY FORD MODELS. CARE STARTED MAKING A WHIRRING NOISE THAT WAS INTERMITTENT, BUT NOT A NORMAL NOISE. TOOK IN FOR SERVICE, FOUND A LEAK IN POWER STEERING. TWO MONTHS LATER (5/9/12) TRYING TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP QUIT, COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL AND LOTS OF STEAM/SMOKE CAME OUT FROM UNDER THE CAR. REPLACED POWER STEERING PUMP UNDER WARRANTY (EXT. WARRANTY WAS PURCHASED AT TIME OF SALE). NOVEMBER 12, 2014 TOOK THE CAR BACK IN FOR WHIRRING NOISE, MOSTLY NOTICEABLE WHILE TURNING LEFT AND ONLY WHEN IT WAS COLD OUTSIDE. (TEMPS BELOW 45). POWER STEERING PUMP WAS BAD AGAIN. REPLACED PUMP/BELT FOR $853.45. DROVE TO FLORIDA FOR THANKSGIVING NO PROBLEMS CAME HOME TO COLD WEATHER AND THE WHIRRING NOISE WAS BACK. THIS TIME IT DIDN'T STOP FOR 20-30 MINUTES WHEN CAR WAS SUFFICIENTLY WARM. NOISE MADE WHILE GOING FORWARD/BACKWARDS/TURNING. PARKED CAR FOR THE WEEKEND FRIDAY NIGHT, SUNDAY NIGHT WENT TO MOVE IT AND STEERING DIDN'T WORK. CHECKED FLUID RESERVOIR ALMOST EMPTY. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP, HAD TO WAIT 48 HRS FOR THEM TO FIND THE O-RING AND HOSE WAS BAD, ANOTHER $500. O-RING AND HOSE SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH POWER STEERING PUMP, BUT WERE NOT PART OF THE PACKAGE. HOW DO I KNOW THAT THE NEW PUMP DIDN'T SUFFER DAMAGE FROM BEING SO LOW ON FLUID? THERE WAS 3000 MILES DRIVEN BETWEEN NEW PUMP AND HOSE ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO REV UP AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED IN REVERSE INDEPENDENTLY TO 35 MPH. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SPIN AND THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A MOTOR HOME. THE POLICE REPORTED TO THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE PASSENGER OF THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED INJURIES AND BRUISING TO HIS RIBS, ARMS, LEGS, AND HEAD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.

THIS HAS OCCURED AT A LEVEL THAT CAUSES THE DRIVER TO IMMEDIATELY TAKE HIS FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL CAUSING A REVERSAL OF THE DIRECTION THE CAR WANTS TO GO, RIGHT TO LEFT, AND JEOPARDIZES THE COMPLETION OF THE PASSING MOVE. DOOR AJAR SENSOR STAYS ON WHICH WILL NOT ALLOW MY DOORS TO LOCK WHILE IN DRIVE. WHEN I GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE, THE DOME LIGHTS, PUDDLE LIGHTS, AND HEADLIGHTS STAY ON AFTER LOCKING THE CAR WITH THE REMOTE AND EVENTUALLY DRAINED THE BATTERY. I PURCHASED A NEW FORD 2011 FORD EDGE IN JULY OF 2010 AND WAS EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THE CAR AND THE SYNC SYSTEM. AS THE END OF THE YEAR NEARED, THE SYNC SYSTEM STARTED ACTING VERY ERRATIC, BLUETOOTH DISCONNECTING, NAVIGATION SD CARD FAILURE, MAPS EXTREMELY SLOW TO LOAD AND WHEN THE CAR WAS SHUTOFF THE SYNC DID NOT POWER DOWN. ON THEN NEXT POWER UP, IT WOULD DISABLE BLUETOOTH AND NOT ALLOW NAVIGATION SYSTEM TO LOAD. THERE WAS A NEW SOFTWARE UPDATE AVAILABLE FEB 2012 THAT ACCORDING TO THE DESCRIPTION WOULD SOLVE ALL THESE ISSUES. AFTER FINALLY GETTING IT TO LOAD ON A USB STICK FROM THE SYNC SITE AFTER MULTIPLE TRIES, I GOT IT DONE. ALSO CONTACTED FOR SYNC SERVICE AND THEY SAID THERE ARE KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE DOWNLOAD FROM THE SYNC SITE. SOFTWARE WAS LOADED SUCESSFULLY IN THE CAR AND ALAS, IT SEEMED ALL MY PROBLEMS WERE CURED....FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS AND NOW THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM CONTINUES TO TRY LOADING AND THEN DISPLAYS SD CARD FAULT, REALLY HANDY WHEN YOU USE THIS FOR WORK. I'VE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH FORD AND THEY ADMIT THERE IS A SOFTWARE BUG IN THE LAST RELEASE...WORKING FOR AN ELECTRONICS COMPANY, I WOULD SAY THERE WASN'T MUCH VALIDATION DONE. THE FRONT WAS DESTROYED, AND THE TWO FRONT WHEELS SMASHED. THE IMPACT WAS SO STRONG THAT THE BACK LIGHTS WERE THROWN 30 METERS AWAY FROM THE CAR. PASSENGER DOOR WAS STUCK AND THE WINDSHIELD BROKEN. WHAT CONCERNS ME IS THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. EVERYBODY AT THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT , FROM THE RESCUER TO THE TOW COMPANY, COMMENTED ON THAT FACT. THE DEALER STATED THE PART WAS NOT CURRENTLY BEING PRODUCED AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE ARRIVAL DATE FOR THE RECALL PART. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY WHENEVER A FAILURE OCCURRED WITHIN THE SYNC SYSTEM AND THEN RECONNECT AFTER WAITING FIVE MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS BEEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER THREE TIMES FOR THE SIMILAR DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERN OF A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. THE DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR SENSOR STAYS ON AND YOU WILL HAVE TO OPEN AND SHUT THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT GOES OUT AND SOMETIMES THAT DOESN'T WORK. MY FIRST INCIDENT WAS WHEN MY CAR WAS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD (EARLY 2012) AND I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE REPLACED. THEN IN MARCH OF 2014, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. SO WHEN I WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE I EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD CLEAN IT AND GO FROM THERE. JUST 2 SHORT WEEKS LATER IT STARTED HAPPENING ONCE AGAIN SO THIS TIME I HAVE RETURNED THE CAR AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME A $100 DEDUCTIBLE TO DO THE WORK. I ASKED WHY BECAUSE I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND HE EXPLAINED THAT CERTAIN ITEMS ARE COVERED BUT WITH A DEDUCTIBLE FEE. THEY INCLUDE: NAVIGATION FAILURE WHILE ON A TRIP, THAT WAS FUN, BEING LOST WITH 2 CARS OF FAMILY FOLLOWING US. BACKUP CAMERA WORKS OR NOT, DEPENDS ON THE DAY. DASHBOARD LIGHTS BLINKING ON & OFF WHILE DRIVING, BLUETOOTH DISCONNECTING MY PHONE ALMOST EVERYDAY. THE SYNC SYSTEM LIKES TO TURN OFF, BLACK SCREEN, RESETS ITSELF WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING EXCEPT TURNING THE CAR ON! SOMETIMES WHEN I LEAVE THE CAR THE SYNC SYSTEM & RADIO WILL STAY ON EVEN AFTER I LOCK THE CAR. 2X IT HAS GONE TO THE DEALER, 2X I GET THE CAR BACK & AM TOLD I HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT AS THERE IS NO FIX TO THE GLITCH IN THE SYSTEM. WE HAVE A 2011 FORD EDGE LIMITED WHICH SOMEONE THREW A 3" DIAMETER ROCK AT THE DRIVER SIDE GLASS. IT WAS NOTED GLASS WAS NOT TEMPERED BUT HAD A SOUND PROOFING LAMINATE IN MIDDLE OF GLASS. PRODUCE LARGE QUANTITIES OF SHARP GLASS SPLINTERS THROUGHOUT CABIN AND KEPT WINDOW GLASS INTACT. MY CONCERN IS THAT YOU COULD BE INJURED SEVERELY BY THE SHARP GLASS SPLINTERS FROM ANY OF THE WINDOWS SMASHING IN ACCIDENT. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30MPH WHEN I HEARD A VERY LARGE POP OR EXPLOSION LIKE SOUND. AFTER A SECOND OR TWO, I NOTICED SHARDS OF GLASS FALLING OFF THE ROOF OVER THE BACK WINDOW. I PULLED OVER INTO A LOT AND FOUND THE REAR MOST FIXED GLASS ROOF PANEL (OF THE PANORAMIC VISTA ROOF) HAD COMPLETELY SHATTERED. THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT FORD WILL NOT TREAT THIS AS A WARRANTY COVERED ITEM. THE VEHICLE WAS BRAND NEW, BOUGHT ONLY 4 DAYS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. I HAVE FORMALLY SUBMITTED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD AND AM SUPPOSED TO RECEIVE A RESPONSE IN 15 DAYS. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO FILE AN INSURANCE CLAIM IN THE MEANTIME - THE VEHICLE CAN NOT BE DRIVEN AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THE NAVIGATION IS PROBABLY THE MOST USER UNFRIENDLY UNIT WE HAVE EVER USED AND HAVE WRITTEN THREE TIMES TO CORRECT THE BAD INFORMATION IN IT; I.E. TAKES YOU TO THE WRONG LOCATION. A NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM THAT CANNOT BE TRUSTED IS WORSE THAN NOT HAVING ONE AT ALL. THERE ARE MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS NAVIGATION SYSTEM IN ADDITION TO THE OTHER 'SENSOR' SAFETY GOODIES ON THIS VEHICLE. THE BLISS IS A SAFETY HAZARD; WORTHLESS. MY SYNC SYSTEM KEEPS BLANKING OUT (REFERRED TO BY EVERYONE AS THE 'BLACK SCREEN') OR A SCREEN THAT LOCKS UP AND WILL NOT PERFORM ANY FUNCTION WHATSOEVER. WHEN RESEARCHING THIS VEHICLE I FOUND INFORMATION ON THIS PROBLEM AS EARLY AS 2008. I PRINTED ALL THE INFORMATION TO SHOW THE SALESMAN. I HANDED HIM 40 PAGES OF INFORMATION ON THE 'BLACK SCREEN' AND ASKED IF THIS IS STILL A PROBLEM HE SAID NO. WE PURCHASED THE 2011 FORD EDGE LIMITED WITH ALL THE GOODIES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH THREE CHILD RESTRAINT SEAT LATCH ANCHORS IN THE REAR SEAT AREA. THE SEAT WITH THE ONE ANCHOR INSTALLATION PREVENTED A CHILD SEAT TO BE POSITIONED IN THAT SPECIFIC SEAT. THE CONTACT WAS DISPLEASED TO KNOW THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DESIGNED FOR TWO REAR FACING CHILD RESTRAINT SEATS TO BE POSITIONED IN DIFFERENT REAR SEATS AT THE SAME TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WERE CERTAIN MODELS DESIGNED WITH FOUR REAR SEAT LATCH ANCHORS.
