TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE
AFTER YEARS OF DOOR AJAR ISSUES AND REPLACING THE BATTERY MULTIPLE TIME DUE TO THE DOME LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS COMING ON RANDOMLY BECAUSE OF THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR ISSUE, THE DOOR STARTED ALARMING RANDOMLY. AFTER THIS ONE OF THE DOORS (REAR RIGHT) STOPPED OPENING AND WAS PERMANENTLY LOCKED. AFTER TAKING IT TO FORD, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT EXERCISED THE LOCKS AND THE DOOR OPERATED. ONE MONTH LATER WHILE MY CHILD WAS GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE (STATIONARY) AT SCHOOL THE DOOR FAILED TO CLOSE. AFTER USING THE SEAT BELT EXTENSION TO TIE THE DOOR CLOSED, I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO REPLACE THE REAR RIGHT DOOR, EXCEPT THE OTHER THREE DOORS CONTINUE TO HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES AND NOW I FEAR THE DOOR OPENING WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED BEFORE OR AFTER THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GEORGE WAIKEM FORD (LOCATED AT 4321 LINCOLN WAY E, MASSILLON, OH 44646, (330) 478-1801) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS TOTAL BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE DUE TO A FAILURE OF THE HYDRAULIC PUMP, BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
DOOR LATCH SENSOR FAILED. CAR REPORTS DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT ISN'T. CAR WON'T PROPERLY LOCK FROM INTERIOR WITH "OPEN DOOR" CONDITION. OCCURS IN SPITE OF MOTION.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WONT GO OFF
PASSENGER DOOR AJAR IS ON. THE DOOR IS CLOSE. THE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF, AND THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON, UNTIL YOU DRIVE FOR ONE MINUTE, THE DOME LIGHTS GO OFF, BUT DOOR AJAR STAYS ON. MY DOORS CAN'T LOCK, WHEN I'M DRIVING, AS LONG AS THE DOOR AJAR STAYS ON. WHEN I TURN MY CAR OFF, THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON FOR 15 MINUTES, PUTTING MY BATTERY IN RESERVE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, BECAUSE, SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACK, COULD OPEN THE DOOR, AND ALSO MY BATTERY WILL SOON BE GOING BAD. I SEE A THOUSAND OF FORD EDGE OWNERS 2011-2015 HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM.
PASSANGER DOOR LATCH SENSOR AND REAR PASSANGER DOOR LATCH SENSOR MALFUNCTION BOTH OF THE LATCH SENSORS ARE NOT WORKING THE DOORS ARE CLOSED BUT THE SENSORS INDICATE THE DOORS ARE OPEN, AND MAKES THE VEHICLE NOT TO LOCKED WHENEVER I AM DRIVING. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, I AM SAVING MONEY TO FIX THIS, BUT IN THE TIME I EXTREMELY WORRY ABOUT MY KIDS WHILE I AM DRIVING WITH THEM, I DID SOME SEARCH ONLINE AND A LOT OF FORD EDGE OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS CAR AS FORD'S I'VE HAD IN THE PAST IS THE COOLANT SYSTEM IT'S REALLY BAD. I'VE GOTTEN FAN N THERMOSTAT PUT IN AND IT STILL GETTING HOT
BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE
BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE, AT TIME BRAKE PEDAL HARD THAN SUDDENLY DROPS, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS MY WIFE ENDED UP PAST STOP SIGH AND MY SON ALMOST WENT THROUGH BACK OF GARAGE
BRAKES ARE HARD, THE CAR DOES NOT BRAKE EASILY. IT MAKES A SOUND LIKE A WIND IS BLOWING. AS IF IT HAD A PRESSURE THAT WOULD NOT LET THE BRAKE TIGHTEN
THE BRAKE PEDAL NEEDS TO BE PUSHED TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE CAR. THE CAR HAS BEEN COMPLETELY CHECKED OUT AND EVERYTHING IS FINE EXCEPT THIS ISSUE. COME TO FIND OUT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE VACUUM BRAKE BOOSTER WHICH IS THE ISSUE WITH MY FORD EDGE, BUT MINE ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. ITS' THE SAME ISSUE AND WILL COST $894.89 TO FIX, BUT FORD HAS WIPED THEIR HANDS OF IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN AS IT IS. FORD WON'T TELL ME WHY MY VIN NUMBER ISN'T COVERED. THE BRAKE PEDAL ISSUE HAPPENS 100% OF THE TIME WHEN YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE.
1.DRIVERS DOOR AJAR LIGHT WARNING STAYS ON. 2. HEAD LIGHTS. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND DOME LIGHT STAYS ON HAVE TOO REPEATEDLY SLAM THE DOOR FOR LIGHT TO GO OFF. ALSO HEADLIGHTS GOES OUT AT NIGHT SOMETIME THE RIGHT LIGHT GOES OUT OR THE LEFT SOME TIMES 4TH THEY BOTH WILL GO OUT HAVE TO SWITCH THE KNOB BACK TO OFF POSITION AND THEN TURN BACK ON TO GET THE HEADLIGHTS BACK ON.
ATLANTA RECALLS I GO TO USE THE BRAKES PEDAL IS REAL HARD THE CAR WILL NOT STOP WAS ON CITY STREETS ALMOST HAD A ACCIDENT
WIFE'S BREAKS STARTED INTERMITTENTLY FEELING SPONGY AND THE BREAK PEDAL WILL GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH VERY LITTLE STOPPING POWER. THIS WOULD OCCUR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR NORMAL CITY SPEEDS, EVEN DRIVING IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD AT SLOW SPEED. WE BROUGHT IT IN TO THE MAINTENANCE SHOP AND THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE BREAK BOOSTER SO THEY REPLACED IT. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION THEY DETERMINED THAT THE HCU UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER LOOKING ON THE INTERNET I FOUND SEVERAL (OVER 100) REPORTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE ON THE EXACT SAME MAKE AND MODEL, SOME OF WHICH ENDED IN INJURY DUE TO THE FAILURE. ALL REPORTS HAVE STATED THAT FORD HAS CURRENTLY REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS ISSUE AND ISSUE A RECALL. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE THAT HAS ALREADY LED TO INJURY AND COULD LEAD TO A DEATH, SOMETHING NEED TO BE DONE BEFORE ANY MORE INJURY'S OCCUR OR WORSE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE DRIVER HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL MULTIPLE TIMES TO STOP THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, A HYDRAULIC SOUND WAS SOMETIMES PRESENT WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BILL COLLINS FORD (4220 BARDSTOWN RD, LOUISVILLE, KY) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND PRESSURE APPLIED TO BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP OR REDUCE SPEED THE VEHICLE DOESN'T COMPLETELY STOP. THIS HAS RESULTED IN ACCIDENTS DUE TO PRESSING BRAKE IS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. MULTIPLE DIAGNOSTICS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE FROM CERTIFIED AUTO SHOPS TO NO AVAIL. MECHANICS ARE UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE DUE TO OCCURRENCES ARE INTERMITTENT. THIS IS A VERY SCARY FEELING TO NOT KNOW IF YOUR BRAKING SYSTEM WILL STOP THE VEHICLE WHEN IN MOTION. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND REVIEWED MULTIPLE BLOGS THAT HAVE RESULTED IN MULTIPLE CITIZENS EXPRESSING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS TYPE, YEAR, AND MODEL OF VEHICLE. I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE FORD AND MANUFACTURERS TO THOROUGHLY RESEARCH THESE TYPE COMPLAINTS AND ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE MULTIPLE DEATHS OCCUR DUE TO VEHICLE BEING UNABLE TO STOP. FAMILY LIVES ARE AT RISK WHEN DRIVING THEIR VEHICLES THAT PRESENT THIS INTERMITTENT BRAKING PROBLEM. ADDITIONALLY, THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN I HAVE HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES WHILE IN PARK OR PUT IN NEUTRAL BEFORE PUTTING INTO DRIVE MODE. AGAIN, BRAKE PEDAL SUPPRESSED FULLY TO FLOOR STILL WILL NOT BRING VEHICLE TO COMPLETE HALT. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THIS IS A CONTINUOUS ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS IN MY CASE BUT FOR YEARS FOR OTHERS WHO OWN THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE.
FUEL TANK LEAK, FUEL ODOR
WATER PUMP BROKE WHILE ON HIGHWAY. THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF FAILURE LEADING UP TO IT. CAR GAVE A WARNING OF LOW OIL PRESSURE, THEN MAYBE 20 SECONDS LATER THE ENGINE COOLANT OVER TEMPERATURE WARNING COMES ON. CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING AT THIS POINT, GOT TO SHOULDER OF HIGHWAY AND AT THIS POINT, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WERE OUT. ENGINE WAS SMOKING. HAD IT TOWED BACK TO DEALERSHIP 89 MILES AWAY TO LEARN THE WATER PUMP BROKE CAUSING CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AND DAMAGE. ESTIMATE TO REBUILD ENGINE WAS $ 7352.00 PLUS TAX. THERE WAS NO WARNING OR POSSIBLE WAY TO CHECK THE WATER PUMP BEFORE HAND. I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2011 AND HAD IT PAID OFF A COUPLE YEARS AGO. NOW ALL EQUITY IN THE CAR IS COMPLETELY GONE AS THE CAR WAS ONLY WORTH 6-8K (ACCORDING TO TRUECAR) AND IT WOULD COST MORE TO FIX IT THAN TO PURCHASE A NEW ONE. A ENGINE SWAP WAS ESTIMATED AT AROUND $4,000 WITH LABOR INCLUDED AS WELL. AFTER THIS HAPPENED I FIND OUT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS IS HAPPENING TO, AND THAT IT'S A MAJOR ISSUE THAT FORD HAS APPARENTLY TRIED TO KEEP QUIET. I HOPE THIS IS AN ADDITIONAL PIECE OF AMMUNITION TO USE IN THE CASE AGAINST FORD.
THIS COMPLAINT DEALS WITH A 2011 FORD EDGE IN WHICH THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES BEGAN TO FAIL CONSIDERABLY AT APPROXIMATELY 172,000 MILES. AFTER ALMOST $1000 IN BRAKE REPAIRS IT WAS FINALLY DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE BOOSTER HAD FAILED. THIS DEFECT IS KNOWN TO THE MANUFACTURER WHO ISSUED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N02 WHICH ALLOWED REPLACEMENT OF THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT FOR VEHICLES WITH UP TO 150,000 MILES OR THROUGH JANUARY 15, 2015. THIS PROBLEM PRESENTS A DANGEROUS SITUATION, PARTICULARLY WHEN BACKING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE PROBLEM IS MORE PROMINENT. FORD DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED WITH REGARDS TO THE COMPLAINT AND STATED THAT DUE TO THE MILEAGE THAT THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THE 13N02 REPAIR OR OTHER PROGRAMS. THE REPAIR COST IS QUOTED BY FORD AT APPROXIMATELY $710.37
DRIVER SIDE STRUT KEEPS GOING OUT ALREADY HAD IT REPLACED A MONTH AGO AND DRIVER SIDE WINDOW CRACKED FOR NO REASON FROM DOWN IN THE DOOR NOT EVEN WHERE ANYONE COULD HIT IT.
WHILE DRIVING UNDER VARIOUS CONDITIONS WE EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT BREAK FAILURES WHERE THE BREAK PEDAL WILL DEPRESS TO THE FLOOR AND BREAKING POWER IS GREATLY REDUCED TO THE POINT WHERE STOPPING BECOMES AN ISSUE. WE'VE EXPERIENCED THIS MALFUNCTION ON HIGHWAYS, CITY STREETS AND IN A PARKING LOT UNDER VARIOUS WEATHER CONDITIONS. THERE WAS A RECALL TO REPLACE THE "BOOSTER BOX" THAT WAS COMPLETED ON THE VEHICLE IN JULY OF 2017. THE ISSUE BEGAN IN JUNE OF 2019 AND CONTINUES.
DOOR AJAR WARNING ALWAYS ON EVEN WHEN DOORS ARE CLOSED. DOME LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND UNABLE TO LOCK OR SECURE THE VEHICLE. DRAINS BATTERY LEAVING ME STRANDED. IT REMAINS ON WHEN THE CAR IS ON, OFF, MOVING, NOT MOVING, WITH OR WITHOUT OCCUPANTS.
DISPLAY SCREEN IS BLACK. NO RADIO, SYNC, CLIMATE CONTROLS ETC. WAS TOLD BY THE LOCAL DEALER THAT THE A-PIM MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. VERY EXPENSIVE. WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?
SITTING IN A DRIVE THRU AND CAR BEGINS TO RUN HOT ONCE AGAIN DUE TO THE COOLING FANS NOT KICKING ON. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. I HAVE REPLACED AN ENTIRE ENGINE ALONG WITH THE COOLING FAN MODULE AND ASSEMBLY. OVER 2000 IN REPAIRS ALL DUE TO A COOLING FAN MALFUNCTION AND IS ACTING LIKE IT AGAIN. *TR
INTERNAL WATER PUMP EXPLODED INSIDE, CAUSING ENGINE TO LOCK AND OTHER DAMAGES IN THE ENGINE. VEHICLE WAS IN GARAGE FOR SIMPLE TUNE UP. THEN DURING CHECKIN, THE ENGINE STOPPED. VEHICLE COULD NOT RESTART.
FIRST OF ALL THE FIRST PROBLEM I ENCOUNTERED WITH MY VEHICLE WAS THE PASSENGER WHEEL BARRING WAS DEFECTED AND STARTED MAKING A BAD NOISE SO TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THE MECHANIC SAID LUCKY I DID BECAUSE IS WAS ABOUT TO BREAK AND CAUSE MY WHEEL TO COME OFF GOING DOWN THE ROAD. AFTER THAT I NOTICED THAT MY ENGINE WOULD RUN HOT IF I SAT STILL IN THE PARKING LOT JUST RUNNING EVEN WITH THE AC OFF. I HAD NO WARNING THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG. I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND IT DIDN'T SEEM TO DO IT ANYMORE UNTIL WE STARTED GETTING THIS REALLY HOT WEATHER THIS MAY, ME AND MY FAMILY WAS GOING IN TO TOWN TO GRAB A BITE TO EAT WHEN (WITHOUT ANY WARNING) MY CAR STARTS SPUTTERING AS IF I PUT BAD GAS IN IT. MY HUSBAND INSTRUCTED ME TO PULL OVER AND TAKE A LOOK AND LOW AND BEHOLD MY CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING HOT JUST AFTER DRIVING ONLY 10 MINUTES. HE PULLED THE DIPSTICK AND OIL IS MILKY AND OIL WAS ALL IN THE WATER RESIVOUR. MY CAR HAD OVER HEATED WITHOUT ANY WARNING THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG AND BLOWN HEAT GASKET AND CRACKED HEADS. MY ENGINE SHOT. WE TOOK IT TO THE SHOP WHERE I HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW ENGINE AND AFTER THE MECHANIC RAN A DIAGNOSTICS TEST ON MY CAR HE SAID THAT THE FAN CONTROL MODULE WAS FAULTY WHICH DID NOT ALLOW MY COOLING FANS TO COME ON AT ALL AND MY SYSTEM NEVER ALERTED ME EITHER. WE REPLACED COOLING FANS ALONG WITH MODULE. EVERYTHING SEEMS FINE AFTER 2,000 DOLLARS LATER. FYI NEVER RELY ON YOUR INFORMATION SCREEN TO TELL YOU IF YOUR RUNNING HOT, GO TO SETTINGS AND KEEP YOUR SCREEN ON THE TEMP GAUGE AT ALL TIMES SO YOU WILL KNOW FOR YOURSELF HOW COOL YOUR ENGINE IS RUNNING. I WOULD BE NICE AFTER ALL THE COMPLAINTS FORD HAS RECEIVED ABOUT THESE PIECE OF CRAP COOLING FANS THAT THEY WILL JUST SUCK IT UP AND DO THE RECALL. WE ARE HARD WORKING AMERICANS AND DONT DESERVE THIS CRAP. WE SUPPORT FORD AN AMERICAN CAR MANUFACTURER AND EXPECT THE SAME RESPECT!!

HAZARD WARNING TOUCH BUTTON QUIT WORKING -- TOUCH THE BUTTON AND IT DOESNT WORK PART IS INTEGRATED INTO THE SONY TOUCH CONTROL PANEL/ SCREEN WATER PUMP FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING -- DESTROYED THE ENGINE -- STARTED AS SPORADIC OVERHEATING THAT THERMOSTAT WAS REPLACED ALIVIATED IT FOR A SHORT TIME THEN IT STARTED OVER BACK TO THE GARAGE -- COULDNT FIND ANYTHING -- SUGGESTED TURN ENGINE OFF THEN BACK ON TO SEE IF TEMP SENSOR WAS THE ISSUE -- STOPPED AGAIN FOR A WHILE THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN -- ALSO CAM SENSOR FAILURE WHEN THIS OCCURED -- TOOK TO GARAGE TEMP SENSOR CAM SENSORS AND THERMOSTAT REPLACED -- SYSTEM FLUSHED -- GARAGE STARTED IT UP -- OVERHEATING AGAIN -- NOW ENGINES SEIZED
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON FROM ERROR CODE P0456 - SMALL LEAK DETECTED IN THE EVAPORATIONS EMISSIONS (EVAP) SYSTEM. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS FUELED WITH GASOLINE. MY MECHANIC ADVISED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN FORDS WITH THE NO GAS CAP SYSTEM.
CAR DOORS SHOW DOORS AJAR AND INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND RUN DOWN THE BATTERY. NO AMOUNT OF CLOSING DOORS USING FORCE OR WITH FOB SEEMS TO WORK. MY 16 YEAR SON IS ABOUT TO START DRIVING AND MY COMPLAINT IS THAT HE MAY BE STRANDED IF THE BATTERY IS DEPLETED. LINTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON ALL NIGHT DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE TRACTION CONTROL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND IT RESTARTED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LEAST SEVEN TIMES IN ONE DAY AND BEGAN SIX MONTHS AGO. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MIKE BROWN FORD (866-562-7500, LOCATED AT 4950 E U.S. HWY 377, GRANBURY, TX 76049) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
MY 2011 FORD EDGE WITH BRAKES AT 1/2 USE HAS SUDDENLY BEGUN HAVING BREAKING ISSUES. PUSHING THE BRAKE USUALLY RESULTS IN IMMEDIATE ENGAGEMENT; NOW IT TRY'S TO ENGAGE BUT RELEASES AND GOES TO THE FLOOR; REQUIRES HEAVY HARD PRESSURE TAKING PEDAL COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR TO STOP VEHICLE. HAS BEEN ONE OR TWO INSTANCES OF INTERMITTENT OCCURRENCES; BUT SEEMS TO BE PERSISTENT NOW. NHTSA NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING FROM THE UNENDING LIST OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. NOT ANY SPECIFIC DRIVING CONDITION CREATING THE ISSUE TO OCCUR. THIS AM I WAS ON AN OPEN HIGHWAY WITH NO STOPPING/ STARTING DRIVING; THIS AFTERNOON I WAS IN TOWN.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY ROAD (APPROX 40 MPH) THE REAR WINDOW MADE A POPPING SOUND AND SHATTERED. A HOLE EMERGED ON THE DRIVER SIDE. IT LOOKS LIKE THE WINDOW PUSHED OUT AND THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT ANYTHING HIT THE WINDOW.
SLOWING DOWN IN CITY TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN AT LOW SPEED AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I WAS ABLE TO SWERVE TO AVOID HITTING CURB. HAD TO PUMP BRAKES AND PUSH ALMOST TO FLOOR TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THERE IS FLUID IN THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER AND NO LEAKS. BRAKE BOOSTER IS FUNCTIONAL AND BRAKES HAVE PLENTY OF PAD. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WILL BE CONTACTING FORD DEALER IN TWO DAYS TO DISCUSS SITUATION.
BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED UNDER RECALL 13N02 10/30/2017 AT NO CHARGE. APRIL 2019 BOOSTER FAILED AGAIN. FORD WILL NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY. REPLACEMENT LASTED 16 MONTHS AND 6958 MILES.FORD SAYS WARRANTY ONLY COVERED FOR ONE YEAR. THE REPLACEMENT BY THE DEALER , AT MY EXPENSE, IS TWO YEARS.
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE BRAKE PEDAL SINKS TO THE FLOOR AND IS HESITANT TO STOP COMPLETELY. I HAVE HAD THE MASTER CYLINDER CHANGED, THE ABS PUMP HAS BEEN REPLACED AND THE VEHICLE HAD THE BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED AROUND 1 YEAR AGO DUE TO A FORD RECALL. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 3 WEEKS NOW AND THE MECHANIC CANNOT SEEM TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM FOR THIS VEHICLE AND IS DANGEROUS TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE AND OTHERS IN THE SURROUNDING AREAS. THIS ISSUE HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR RANDOM BRAKE LOSS WHICH CAN OCCUR IN INJURY OR DEATH.
THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE STAYING ON WHEN THE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF AND THE CAR IS PARK POSITION DUE TO A FAULTY DOOR SWITCH, AND THIS IS HAPPENING WHEN THE DOOR INDICATOR ON MY INSTRUMENT PANEL IS SHOWING THE DOOR IS AJAR WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY CLOSED, THUS CREATING A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION DUE TO SAME FAULT SHOWING UP. THIS IS ALSO KILLING THE BATTERY IF NOT NOTICED IN TIME.
DRIVING ON CITY STREETS 35-45MPH WHEN I HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKE. BRAKES FELT SPONGEY (NO ANTI LOCK FEEL) AND THE PEDAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. THIS ORIGINALLY OCCURRED MID FEBRUARY 2019, BUT CORRECTED ITSELF AFTER LETTING THE CAR SIT OVERNIGHT. IT OCCURRED AGAIN LATE MARCH 2019 AND THIS TIME THE CONDITION PERSISTED AND MADE ME FEEL THAT THE BRAKES COULD ULTIMATELY FAIL. I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND MULTIPLE MENTIONS OF THIS ISSUE WITH FORD EDGES, BUT NO FORMAL RECALL - WHICH THE DEALERSHIP LATER VERIFIED. MY VEHICLE IS A 2011 WITH 135,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD ALL OF ITS REQUIRED/RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE AND IS IN GOOD CONDITION OTHERWISE. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS AS FOLLOWS - "FOUND THE MASTER WITH LEAK AND HCU/ABS SEEPING AND DUMP VALVE, E ON FOUND BRAKES BYPASSING". THE DEALER REPLACED THE CONTROL AND MODULE AND ALSO RECOMMENDED THAT I REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER, WHICH I AGREED TO ALLOW. EXPENSIVE REPAIR - JUST A BIT PAST $1900 WITH PARTS AND LABOR
DRIVER SIDE DOOR INDICATES DOOR AJAR WHICH AFFECTS LOCKS. IF IT SHOWES DOOR AJAR YOU CAN NOT LOCK THE DOORS IF YOU DO IT IMMEDIATELY UNLOCKS ALL DOORS.
PANORAMIC VISTA ROOF WILL NOT CLOSE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND THOUSANDS OF FORD OWNERS ARE AFFECTED.
I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE ABS SENSOR. WHEN YOU HIT A BIG BUMP OR WHEN YOU BRAKE ON ICE THE BRAKES SHUTTER & THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR UNABLE TO STOP. USUALLY I CAN PUMP THEM & I GET BRAKES BACK. NOW I CAN'T PUMP THEM UP, I CALL IT A SOFT BRAKE, I CAN NOT STOP FAST IF A VEHICLE STOPS FAST IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS TOLD FROM MY MECHANIC THAT IT NEEDS ABS HCU UNIT & MASTER CYLINDER CHANGED. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THEY FREQUENTLY HAVE CALLS FROM FORD OWNERS THAT HAVE EDGE & FUSION WITH THE SAME ISSUE OF LOOSING THEIR BRAKES, IN FACT THEY TAKE BETS ON HOW MANY CALLS THEY WILL GET ON A SNOW DAY OR RAINY DAY. I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ON THIS, IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT APPEARS ON THE DASH EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THERE IS NO WAY TO CLEAR THE ALERT/ALARM AND IT BECOMES VERY HAZARDOUS WHEN DRIVING WHILE IT IS STILL DARK AND THE DOME LIGHTS ARE ON SIGNALING THE DOOR IS OPEN. THIS WARNING WILL COME ON AT ANY TIME- WHILE STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY, WHILE DRIVING, ETC. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC TIME IT HAPPENS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PURVIS FORD LINCOLN (540-898-3000, LOCATED AT 3660 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY, FREDERICKSBURG, VA 22408) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY OWNER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000. *TR*JB
MY WIFE'S 2011 FORD EDGE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR WHEN TRYING TO STOP. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND BRAKES GO BACK TO WORKING NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WITH MY WIFE DRIVING AND TWICE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. BRAKE BOOSTER WAS ALREADY REPLACED UNDER RECALL.
