The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH, she had to forcefully depress the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the brake booster to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that on another occasion while driving approximately 30 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal went to the floor but failed to fully stop the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to another local dealer: Joe Myers Ford (16634 Northwest Fwy, Houston, TX 77040: (713) 766-3600) where it was diagnosed with needing the master cylinder to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that on another occasion while driving approximately 25 MPH, while depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal went to the floor but failed to fully stop the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to Joe Myers Ford dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the hydraulic ABS module unit to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED WITH NO PRIOR WARNING. SITTING AT STOP LIGHT, BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND CAR LUNDGED FORWARD INTO INTERSECTION. LUCKILY WE WERE NOT HIT. CONTACTED FORD DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME IT IS "VERY" COMMON FAILURE AND IT WAS COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY NEGOTIATED BY FORD TO PREVENT A RECALL? I SEE FORD WHO WON THAT NEGOTIATION.. IT IS NICE THAT THIS WON'T COST ME ANY MONEY BUT IT HAS OR WILL SURELY COST SOMEONE THEIR LIFE(S). UNBELIEVABLE THAT THE DEALER, NHTSA AND FORD KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND NO NOTICE IS SENT TO TENS OF THOUSANDS OF FAMILIES DRIVING KIDS AROUND IN DEATH TRAPS? IF THAT IS THE BEST YOU CAN NEGOTIATE AT NHTSA, GIVEN A CHOICE I'D RATHER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE RATHER THAN HAVE FORD PAY FOR THE REPAIR. AT LEAST FAMILIES COULD MAKE THE WISE DECISION NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR. WHY DO WE HAVE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES IF THIS IS ALLOWED? I SEE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE WEB AND NO RECALL??? NO NOTICE?? HOW MANY OTHER TIMEBOMBS HAVE BEEN SUCESSFULLY NEGOTIATED TO REMAIN ON OUR ROADS PUTTING FAMILIES AT RISK BY MANUFACTURERS?
WHEN I PLACE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO START THE CAR, AND I LEAVE MY FOOT ON BRAKE PADDLE THERE IS A HUMMING NOISE THAT HAPPENS, THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN I PLACE CAR IN REVERSE AND LEAVE MY FOOT ON BRAKE. ALSO THERE HAS BEEN TWO TIMES WHEN I WAS STOPPING THE CAR THAT THE BRAKE PADDLE WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR WAS NOT STOPPING. ONCE WHEN I WAS DRIVING ACROSS A PARKING LOT AND STOPPING TO WAIT TO PULL OUT AND ONCE WHEN I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE. BOTH OF THESE INCIDENTS HAPPENED ON THE SAME DAY.

FORD EDGE LATCH DOOR AJAR DOME LIGHTS STAY ON
VEHICLE STALLING WHILE DRIVING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, PULL OVER TURN OFF AND RESTART, AND THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. JUST LIKE SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS, APPEARS TO BE THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. REPLACED YESTERDAY IN 15 MIN, WAITING TO SEE IF PROBLEM IS RESOLVED
2012 FORD EDGE BEGAN HAVING A "DOOR AJAR" ERROR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, YOU ARE UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS WITH THE KEYPAD. NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK THE VEHICLE IS A MAJOR ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY THE FAILURE OF A MICRO SWITCH ASSEMBLED IN THE LATCH MECHANISM. WHEN THIS SWITCH FAILS, THE SIGNAL TO TELL THE CAR THE DOOR IS CLOSED IS NOT SENT.
EVEN THOUGH THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IS PROPERLY CLOSED, THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR LIGHT WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN COME ON AND THEN THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL ALSO COME ONE WHICH IS VERY HAZARDOUS IF YOU ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT. ALSO WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU CANNOT LOCK THE DOORS WHICH MAKES IT NOT SAFE FOR CHILDREN OR ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES WHOM MAY BE A PASSENGER IN THE CAR AS WELL. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO SLAM THE DOOR ABOUT 15 TIMES BEFORE IT STOPS OR IT MIGHT NOT STOP AT ALL.
2012 FORD EDGE WITH 51,000 MILES. DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING KEEPS COMING ON WHEN DOOR IS NOT AJAR BOTH WHEN VEHICLE IS MOVING OR NOT MOVING. I CAN OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES AND SOMETIMES IT WILL GO OFF SOMETIMES IT WON'T. IT WILL EVEN COME ON 20-40 MINUTES AFTER I'VE BEEN DRIVING AT TIMES WHEN DOOR HAS NOT BEEN REOPENED AND CLOSED. IT EVEN CAME ON AFTER THE PASSENGER DOOR WAS OPENED AND CLOSED, DRIVER DOOR AJAR NOT PASSENGER DOOR AJAR. WHENEVER I STOP,THE SHIFT TO PARK WARNING ALSO COMES ON WANTING ME TO SHUT MY DOOR SO I HAVE TWO WARNINGS BEEPING AT ME. INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF UNTIL I START MOVING FORWARD SO I CAN'T SEE BEHIND ME BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAYS AND STALLS AT NIGHT WHICH IS SCARY. I HAVE GOTTEN TO WHERE I JUST IGNORE THE WARNINGS AS MANY PEOPLE DO WITH THEIR CHECK ENGINE AND SEATBELT WARNINGS KNOWING MY DOOR IS CLOSED. BUT WHAT IF ONE DAY IT ACTUALLY ISN'T CLOSED AND MY DOOR DOES COME OPEN WHILE DRIVING CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AND INJURY? I DID PURCHASE THE PART AT A COST OF $210.37 AS FORD REFUSES TO PAY TO HAVE THIS FIXED SAYING IT IS NOT A RECALL OR SAFETY ISSUE. THE WARNING LIGHTS ARE SAFETY FEATURES BUT THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE?
DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH IS NOT REGISTERING AS CLOSED. LIGHTS STAY ON, I CANNOT LOCK MY DOORS. MY BATTERY DIES IF IT IS NOT "SHUT". A LOT OF MONEY LOSS IN BATTERIES AND TIME LOST IN STANDING IN SOMETIMES SNOW OR RAIN FOR MINUTES TRYING TO GET IT TO REGISTER. ALSO, I HAVE CHILDREN AND WOULD PREFER MY CHILD IS UNABLE TO OPEN THEIR DOOR WHILE IN MOTION. PURCHASED THE CAR USED IN NOVEMBER 2015 AND IT STARTED MALFUNCTIONING AFTER A MONTH. I FIND IT SHOCKING THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS. IT IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND VERY WELL KNOWN WITH DEALERSHIPS AND REPAIR SHOPS, BUT THE FIXING PRICE IS AROUND $500.
THE DRIVERS DOOR IS AJAR WARNING KEEPS APPEARING. SOMETIMES IT APPEARS AFTER I AM ALREADY DRIVING. THE LIGHTS COME ON AND THE CAR ALARMS WHEN STOPPING TELLING ME TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. MY DOOR IS SHUT. IT CONTINUES TO DO THIS EVEN AFTER SHUTTING MY DOOR NUMEROUS TIMES.
1) "SHIFT TO PARK" ERROR: HAVE TO CLICK THE SHIFTER ONE OR TWO TIMES TO CLEAR IT. UNTIL I DO, THE SEAT DOES NOT MOVE BACK FOR EXITING. 2) "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" ERROR: HAVE TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR, SOMETIMES ONLY ONCE, BUT USUALLY MANY TIMES IN ORDER TO CLEAR THE ERROR. 3) IF THE "DOOR" ERROR IS NOT CLEARED, THE "SHIFT" ERROR WILL APPEAR WHILE MOVING, WHENEVER I COME TO A STOP. ALSO, THE AUDIBLE SIGNAL WILL KICK IN. 4) AT TIMES THE DRIVER DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK WITH THE TOUCH OF MY HAND. I SUSPECT WHEN I SHUT THE DOOR LAST, THE "DOOR" ERROR WAS PROBABLY IN EFFECT. SERVICE: I ACTUALLY TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER AND ALL THEY COULD TELL ME WAS THAT THE SHIFTER HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR $500. THEY COULDN'T EVEN FIND THE "DOOR" ERROR. I THINK THIS MERITS A RECALL NOTICE AND FORD SHOULD REPAIR THESE PROBLEMS AT NO OR REASONABLE COSTS.
DOOR AJAR STAYS UN CAUSING INTERIOR KIGHTS TO REMAIN ON CAUSING SAFETY HAZARD AT NIGHT AND KILLS THE BATTERY. IT HAPPENS WHEN SITTING IN PARK AND WHILE DRIVING.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON AFTER I SHUT AND TURN OFF CAR
ON FIVE OCCASIONS RECENTLY, MOVING AT NORMAL SPEED ON CITY STREETS, SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND WOULD ONLY CRAWL ALONG TO CURB. I STOPPED THE ENGINE, WAITED A FEW MOMENTS, AND STARTED AGAIN. IT FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE DEALER SAID ALL WAS NORMAL ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. I SUSPECT IT IS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, BUT I CAN'T BE SURE. MY DEALER WON'T REPLACE IT IN SPITE OF ALL OF THE SIMILAR REPORTS ON THE NET. I CONSIDER IT TO BE TOO RISKY TO DRIVE.
2012 FORD EDGE - CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON 4+ TIMES A MONTH. NO PROBLEMS FOUND. COULD CAUSE CONSUMER TO IGNORE THE LIGHT WHEN THERE IS A REAL PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE. OCCURS WITH ENGINE ON IN STATIONARY CONDITION, AND UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE AND WHILE IN MOTION. PURCHASED MAY 2014.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR AT 38K IS FAILING. LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF, CAN NOT LOCK CAR ONCE OUT OF IT AND INSIDE LIGHTS STAY ON. ALSO HAVING PROBLEM WITH ALARM RANDOMLY GOING OFF.
MY 2012 FORD EDGE HAS DRIVER AND REAR DOORS AJAR INDICATORS ARE ON THE DASH, CLOSING THE DOOR REPEATEDLY DOES NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE CAR KEEPS TELLING ME TO SHIFT TO PARK. THE DOOR SWITCH IS A MODULE INSIDE THE DOOR. THIS IS BAD. WHEN YOU PARK THE CAR AND LOCK IT THE LIGHT STAYS ON EXPOSING THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND NEED TO BE FIXED OR REMOVED COMPLETELY.
DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON AFTER SHUTTING THE DRIVERS DOOR. I HAVE TAKEN THIS IN 2 TIMES SINCE I HAD THIS UNDER WARRANTY TO HAVE IT FIX AND NOW IT HAS HAPPEN AGAIN. WITH THIS PROBLEM THESE ARE THE OTHER PROBLEMS CAUSED BY IT. ' THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND CREATES A NIGHT DRIVING HAZARD. ' THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN SITTING IN A PUBLIC AREA AT NIGHT. ' THE FALSE DOOR AJAR SIGNALS PREVENTS THE DRIVER FROM RECOGNIZING A REAL DOOR AJAR SITUATION ... VERY DANGEROUS. ' THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHICH IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. ' FAULTY LATCH. THE CAR HAS ONLY 33000 MILES ON IT AND THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPEN. THIS SHOULD BE RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILL BY A FACULTY SENSOR THAT PEOPLE WILL START IGNORING BECAUSE IT DOESN'T WORK.

AS A RESULT, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V438000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED.THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.

MY DRIVERS DOOR AND THE BACK DOOR BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND WARNING COMES ON AFTER I HAVE SHUT THE DOORS SECURELY AND WILL NOT GO OFF. VERY AGRUAVATING! I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO A FORD SHOP AND THEY TELL IT WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $600 TO REPAIR.

TODAY NOVEMBER 11, 2016 IS THE FOURTH TIME I HAVE TAKEN IN THE CAR FOR THE SAME ISSUE.

THE LIGHT NOW STAYS ON CONTINUOUSLY AND WHEN THE CAR SLOWS TO A STOP A YELLOW PANEL LIGHT TELLS THE DRIVER TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND MUST BE CORRECTED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, ALL THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT REMOVED ONE OF THE FUSES IN ORDER TO SHUT OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS. THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOORS AND SWITCH ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
OPEN DOOR INDICATOR WON'T TURN OFF
PEDAL SOMETIMES GOES TO FLOOR AND IS SLOW TO PUMP UP AGAIN. MORE NORMAL SYMPTOM IS THE BREAK CONTINUES TO SLOWLY GO TO FLOOR WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT. FIRST THOUGH WAS AIR IN THE BRAKES BUT NOW BELIEVE THE BOOSTER PUMP IS INADEQUATE OR FAILING.
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR REPEATEDLY COMES ON, DOME LIGHT ILLUMINATES, MESSAGE TO PUT IN PARK SHOWS. CALLED FORD MOTOR CO. WHO REPORTS NO RECALL!! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT PROHIBITS DOOR LOCKING, TURNS ON INTERIOR LIGHT DURING NIGHT DRIVING. FORD ADVISED THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW IF THIS WOULD BE COVERED BY MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. HOW CAN THAT BE? ALL THEY COULD DO WAS GIVE ME A CASE NUMBER IF IT EVER TURNS INTO A RECALL. EVEN IF OUT OF WARRANTY, THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A LATENT MANUFACTURE SAFETY DEFECT! ABOUT ONE MONTH LATER, PURCHASED 4 NEW TIRES($846.00). THEN, IN 2 WEEKS, TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR DEFAULT LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT GO OFF. HAD TO REPLACE TO THE TUNE OF $130.00.

BACKING DOWN DRIVEWAY IN REVERSE THE BRAKES FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. I HAD TO STAND ON THEM (PUSH WITH ALL MY LEG STRENGTH) AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY WERE WORKING WITH THE POWER ASSIST. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS COMING DOWN THE STREET AT THE TIME. I'M CERTAIN THIS IS A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING FLAW. IT WAS SIMILAR TO THE TIME I BROKE A BRAKE LINE AND ONLY HAD THE REAR DRUM BRAKES WORKING AND HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. TO ME THE BRAKES ARE MISSION CRITICAL FOR SAFETY AND IF FORD WON'T ADMIT IT AND HAVE A RECALL THEN THE NTSB MUST STEP IN. THIS THREAD IS LOADED WITH SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE RECTIFIED BEFORE SOME ONE IS KILLED.
I HAVE A 2012 FORD EDGE. IT LOSS POWER WHEN I DRIVE AT 20MPH IN THE NOON . THE YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON AND THE CAR STARTED SHAKING. THE ENGINE WAS STILL WORKING AT THAT TIME. FORD DEALER AUTO SERVICE IN SANTA MONICA WOULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. I AM STILL IN EXTENSION WARRANTY. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE HAVE NO SOLUTION EXCEPT ASKING ME TO TRY OTHER DEALER AUTO SERVICE. LIKE THE HUNDREDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS, WHEN DOOR IS PROPERLY CLOSED, THE "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" ALERT COMES ON AND BEEPS EVERY TIME YOU ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, ALSO CAUSES INTERIOR LIGHT TO STAY ON. I HAD NOT REALIZED IT WAS NOT ALLOWING ME TO LOCK THE DOOR UNTIL I READ ALL OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS AND TESTED IT MYSELF....SURE ENOUGH, BACK DOOR CAN BE OPENED! I AM NOW HIGHLY CONCERNED ABOUT MY 11 MONTH OLD SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT. GOING TO FORD TOMORROW TO FIGURE THIS OUT!
