TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME EXTREMELY HARD TO DEPRESS AND THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD HISSING SOUND WHEN BACKING UP A BOAT. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL STILL FELL SPONGY WHENEVER IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR AND CHIME OPERATED INDEPENDENTLY, EVEN WHEN THE DOORS WERE CLOSED. IN ADDITION, THE DOOR COULD NOT BE LATCHED WHEN THE IGNITION WAS IN THE ON POSITION. THE WARNING INDICATOR CEASED TO FUNCTION UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATED AT A HIGHER SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A DOOR LATCH MALFUNCTION, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000.
AN IRRITATING AND DISTRACTING DANGER SIGNAL AND DISPLAY ICON SHOWS "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" WHEN IN FACT THERE IS NO PROBLEM. EARLY THIS MONTH THIS OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND IS NOW CONSISTENT AND REPETITIVE EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE AUTOMOBILE. FORD DEALER SERVICE SAYS THIS REQUIRES A $200 REPAIR. THIS REPAIR IS TOO COMPLEX FOR ME TO COMPLETE. TO SILENCE THE ALARM ONE MUST LOOK AWAY FROM THE ROADWAY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO FIND THE OK BUTTON. *TR
BRAKES WERE REALLY HARD TO PRESS TO GET CAR TO STOP. FREQUENCY OF OCCURRENCE INCREASED. KEY INCIDENT WAS DIFFICULTY STOPPING AT STOP SIGN WHEN A FAMILY WAS CROSSING STREET IN FRONT OF ME. HAD TO PRESS REALLY HARD ON BRAKES TO STOP. BROUGHT INTO DEALER ON 8/19/2014. TOLD ME IT WAS ISSUE WITH BOOSTER AND PART IS ON BACK ORDER, SO HAD TO GIVE ME A RENTAL CAR FOR 2-3 WEEKS (HAD PREMIUM WARRANTY SERVICE). BASED ON THE NUMBER OF PROBLEMS I SEE ON THIS SITE, WHEN IS FORD GOING TO ISSUE A RECALL? WE ARE TALKING BRAKES!!!!!!! DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE OR BE INJURED BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE? *TR
THE DRIVER DOOR LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT HAVE TO SLAM DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES. HAD TO GO GET A REPLACEMENT DOOR PART. *TR
DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON WHEN DOOR IS COMPLETELY CLOSED. *TR
THERE IS AN ISSUE RELATED TO THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH. THE CAR WILL NOT LOCK THE CONSTANTLY CHIMES THE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT IS CLOSED. EVEN AFTER MANUALLY LOCKING THE DOOR, THE LOCKS POP BACK UP. INITIALLY THE PROBLEM STARTED PERIODICALLY AND COULD BE CORRECTED BY OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES. THERE WERE TIMES WHEN SIMPLY OPENING THE WINDOW TRIPPED THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE NOT BEING ABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND HAVE THE CONSTANT CHIME AND INTERIOR LIGHTS ON.
JULY 31, 2014 - I RAN A RED LIGHT WHEN THE BRAKES ON MY 2012 EDGE FAILED. IT FELT AS IF THERE WAS ZERO PRESSURE & THE BRAKE PEDAL SUNK ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. AFTER PUMPING THEM, OR REALLY "STANDING" ON THE PEDAL, THE CAR FINALLY SLOWED DOWN. AFTER THIS INCIDENT, THERE WAS AN AUDIBLE "HISS" WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. I HAD NOTICED FOR SEVERAL WEEKS PRIOR TO JULY 31ST, MY BRAKES FELT "DIFFERENT". WHEN PRESSURE APPLIED FOR PUSH BUTTON START, THEY FELT VERY STIFF. AT OTHER TIMES, WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO SLOW OR STOP COMPLETELY, CONSIDERABLY MORE PRESSURE WAS NECESSARY THAN HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY ADEQUATE. THE NEXT DAY (AUGUST 1ST), OUR LOCAL FORD SERVICE CENTER CONFIRMED THAT MY MODEL WAS UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER. HOWEVER, THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER & THERE IS NO ETA FOR A NEW PART. I EXPECT MY CAR TO BE THERE SEVERAL WEEKS, IF NOT MONTHS. WHY IS THIS ITEM NOT A NATIONAL RECALL?! THIS IS A SERIOUS, KNOWN, ISSUE THAT COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. *TR
APPLIED THE BRAKES AND I WAS NOT STOPPING THE VEHICLE. I HEARD A HISSING NOISE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS EXTREMELY STIFF BUT I WAS UNABLE TO APPLY ENOUGH PEDAL FORCE TO ACTUATE THE BRAKES. I THEN PUMPED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL ALMOST WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE BRAKES APPLIED BUT WAY TOO MUCH AND THE CAR CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER. DEALER DROVE CAR AND DETERMINED IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. FORD REGIONAL SAID THERE WAS A PROGRAM FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THAT ACCORDING TO THE FORD TECH TEAM THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL A REPAIR PART COULD BE LOCATED. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. THE BRAKES DO NOT WORK. BOTH I AND THE DEALER SERVICE STAFF AGREE THAT THERE IS A MAJOR ISSUE INVOLVING THE BRAKE BOOSTER MAKING THE CAR UNSAFE. CAR HAS BEEN AT DEALER SINCE 7/31/14. NO PARTS AVAILABLE AND CAR IS UNDRIVABLE. HOW THIS CAR PASSED FMVSS 135 AND 136 IS BEYOND ME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR LIGHT AND COMPASS MALFUNCTIONED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FAILED TO TURN OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND DOOR WERE CLOSED. AS A RESULT, THE FAILURE CAUSED THE BATTERY TO BE COMPLETELY DRAINED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,173.
THE DRIVERS DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE ALL THE TIME AND THE LIGHT COMES ON AND IT BEEPS VERY ANNOYING......IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN THIS ACTS UP. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR ALWAYS SAID 'DOOR AJAR' AS IF IT WOULD NEVER LATCH WHEN CLOSED. IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN JULY OF 2014.
THE DRIVER DOOR LATCH SIGNALS THAT THE DRIVER DOOR IS AJAR WHEN IT IS NOT. THIS PREVENTS THE DOOR FROM LOCKING AND ALSO AFFECTS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAY AND INTERIOR LIGHTING AS WELL AS THE ALARM SYSTEM. *TR

WHEN I WENT TO STEP ON BRAKES THEY WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. WAS MAKING A SQUISHY NOISE AS WELL. HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER BOOSTER? *TR
THE DOOR AJAR WARNING KEEPS ON LIGHTING UP. WE HAVE TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DRIVERS DOOR UP TO 20 TIMES AND SOMETIMES THE WARNING GOES OFF AND SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT. IT IS VERY ANNOYING BECAUSE IF IT DOESN'T TURN OFF THERE IS A BEEPING SOUND GOING ON WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING ASKING YOU TO PULL ASIDE AND CLOSE THE DOOR AGAIN. IT ALSO AFFECTS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT BECAUSE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WONT TURN OFF AND IT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHERE YOU ARE DRIVING, SPECIALLY IF IT'S ON REVERSE, OR WHEN YOU GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND PUT THE ALARM ON, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS KEEP ON AND AM AFRAID IT WILL AFFECT MY BATTERY IN THE LONG RUN. WE TOOK IT TO SERVICE AT THE DEALER BUT THERE IS NO RECALL YET AND IT COSTS AROUND $418 TO FIX. I THINK IT'S A MANUFACTURE THING AND FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS FIX. *TR
I WAS UNABLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND HIT A CONE IN NYC. AFTER, IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CAR WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN BUT IT TOOK TIME. I DROVE SLOW AND AWAY FROM OTHERS. THE BRAKES WERE HARD AND MADE NOISE WHEN I PUSHED DOWN ON THE BRAKES. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALER, THEY INFORMED ME THAT FORD HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE PART AND I ASKED WHY WASN'T THE PART RECALLED IF IT PUT ME AND MY FAMILY IN HARMS WAY. WHY WASN'T I NOTIFIED PRIOR TO LOSING FULL BRAKING POWER? I AM THANKFUL THAT I NOTICED THE PROBLEM RIGHT AWAY AND MY FAMILY AND I ARE SAFE. I HAVE CONCERNS FOR OTHERS WHO MAY BE AT A GREATER SPEED WHEN THE BRAKES FAIL OR HAVE TO STOP UNEXPECTEDLY. IN ADDITION, MY CAR HAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES FOR NOT LOCKING INTO THE PARK POSITION. IT IS NOT SAFE AND AGAIN, I HAVE CONCERNS FOR MY FAMILY AND OTHERS. CAN THIS CAR MOVE IF IT ISN'T SECURED IN THE PARK POSITION? I HAVE VOICED MY CONCERNS WITH FORD BUT HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE RUN AROUND BY EVERYONE I HAVE ENCOUNTERED. THESE ARE SAFETY ISSUES AND NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE. EVERYONE IS NICE AND APOLOGIZES BUT THEY NEED TO TAKE CARE OF THESE SAFETY CONCERNS FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS AND FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2012 EDGE SEL USED FROM A FORD DEALER WITH 28,900 MILES ON IT IN JUNE. WHILE ON VACATION WITH THE FAMILY THIS MONTH (JULY) WAS BACKING VEHICLE UP AND WHEN I APPLIED A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE, THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP BUT ONLY SLOWED. I THEN HAD TO STOMP ON THE BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND AVOID HITTING A PARKED CAR BEHIND ME. THE ISSUE GOT WORSE OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS, SO I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER WHO TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A BAD BRAKE BOOSTER. THEY INSTALLED A "NEW" ONE UNDER CSP 13N02 AND SAID IT WAS "GOOD-TO-GO". DID NOT EVEN GET OFF THE LOT WHEN I NOTICED THERE WAS STILL THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. DROVE IT BACK INTO THE SERVICE AREA CAREFULLY. FORD TECH SAID THE NEW BRAKE BOOSTER THEY PUT ON WAS BAD AS WELL! REALLY? IS ANYONE FROM FORD DOING AUDITS ON THAT VENDOR??? SO NOW I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL AUGUST 15TH WHICH IS THE ESTIMATED DATE OF REPAIR COMPLETION AS THE "NEW" BRAKE BOOSTER IS ON BACK ORDER NATION WIDE. MY CAR WILL NOW BE SITTING ON THE FORD LOT ALMOST AS LONG AS IT WAS SITTING IN MY GARAGE. THIS IS AN IMMEDIATE SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS SUCH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EMITTED A PERSISTENT GASOLINE FUEL ODOR AND THE FUEL MILEAGE WAS REDUCED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V002000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) BUT THE REMEDY DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
THE "DOOR AJAR" SENSOR IS MAKING A FALSE READING THAT CONSTANTLY SAYS THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IN FACT IT IS NOT. DUE TO THE CAR "THINKING" THE DOOR IS OPEN, YOU CAN NOT LOCK THE DOORS WHILE DRIVING. A CHILD FALLING OUT OF AN UNLOCKED DOOR OR A CAR JACKING BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH FOR THIS ISSUE WILL SHOW THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY FORD VEHICLES. TO HAVE THE SENSOR REPAIRED COST ANYWHERE FROM $250 TO $400 WHICH IS MOST LIKELY WHY FORD CONTINUES TO LET PEOPLE DRIVE THESE UNSAFE VEHICLES. *TR
CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING NO SIGNS OF FAILURE OR LIGHTS OR CODES. *TR
THE ALERT FOR 'DRIVER DOOR AJAR' COMES ON AND WILL NOT TURN OFF, REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY TIMES AND/OR HOW HARD/SOFT THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. I AM NOW DRIVING AROUND, IGNORING THE ALERT, WHICH IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE I COULD POTENTIALLY BE DRIVING WITH A DOOR THAT IS NOT LATCHED PROPERLY, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A SERIOUS INJURY. THANK GOD IT IS NOT THE DOOR THAT MY SON USES. I AM HEARING FROM EVERY FORD OWNER I'VE SPOKEN TO AND ALL OVER THE INTERNET THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM IN THE MAJORITY OF FORDS, SO I THINK SOMEONE NEEDS TO LOOK INTO A RECALL ON THIS. I WAS DRIVING AROUND 55 MPH ON THE FREEWAY AND WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKES. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR WITH MINIMAL SLOWING OF CAR. IF I REALLY NEEDED TO STOP THE CAR I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. I USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO CONTROL CAR. WENT TO DEALER AND THEY STATED THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH FORD EDGE WITH THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP FAILING. THIS HAZARD COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SIGNIFICANT ACCIDENT FOR ME HAD IT FAILED WHEN I NEEDED A IMMEDIATE STOP TO CAR. I SENT FORD THIS SAME FEEDBACK TODAY VIA THE FORD SERVICE FEEDBACK FORM. MY CAR IS SITTING IN THE SHOP FOR MULTIPLE WEEKS SINCE THE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER. THIS TELLS ME THIS ISSUE IS A TREND IN THE CAR MODEL AND MORE PROACTIVE ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN BY FORD. WE HAVE A 2012 FORD EDGE PURCHASED NEW. WE'VE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH POWER STEERING FAILURE GOING ON FOR ABOUT A MONTH. THE SERVICE CENTER CANNOT MAKE APPROPRIATE/REASONABLE REPAIRS TO OUR VEHICLE. IT'S BEEN IN THEIR SHOP 3 TIMES AND STILL LOOSES PS FLUID RAPIDLY. 1ST TIME, THEY DIDN'T HAVE PART. 2ND TIME, REPLACED HIGH PRESSURE LINE. 3RD TIME, REPLACED FAILED PS PUMP. VEHICLE STILL CONTINUES TO LEAK PS FLUID. THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AND WE ARE AFRAID LOOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND/OR BEING STRANDED ON THE ROAD. WE CAN'T AFFORD THE TIME AND COST TO HAVE IT IN THE SHOP EVERY OTHER WEEK. THE VEHICLE WILL SOON BE OUT OF FACTORY WARRANTY AND ARE AFRAID OF THIS ONGOING PROBLEM. DRIVERS DOOR AJAR ALARM IS SOUNDING WHEN DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED. *TR
IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AT LOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES (11 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF). THE MOST RECENT TIME IN HEAVY, SLOW-MOVING CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC. CAR LOSES ALL POWER WITHOUT WARNING. LOSS OF POWER STEERING, VERY TIGHT BRAKES, NO ACCELERATION POSSIBLE AND A LOW OIL WARNING. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART, THIS SOMETIMES WORKS, OTHER TIMES I HAVE NEEDED THE CAR TOWED BECAUSE IT DID NOT RESTART. THIS IS A COMPANY CAR AND IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES, AND ONLY THIS LAST WEEK WAS ANYTHING EVER FOUND TO BE WRONG. ALL PREVIOUS TIMES THE STALLING COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED, AND I WAS TOLD EITHER NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR, THEY FIXED A PART THEY THOUGHT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM, OR I MUST HAVE PUT IN BAD GAS. AFTER STALLING A MONTH AGO, THIS PAST WEEK A DATA RECORDER WAS ATTACHED AND A DEFECTIVE OXYGEN SENSOR WAS FOUND IN THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM WHEN THE CAR STALLED FOR THE DEALERSHIP. THE OXYGEN SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND THEY TEST DROVE THE CAR. THE STALLING DID NOT OCCUR DURING THEIR FINAL TEST DRIVES. I RECEIVED THE CAR BACK A WEEK AGO, ONLY TO HAVE IT STALL THREE TIMES WITHIN 10 MILES TWO DAYS AGO. ALMOST WAS RE-ENDED BY A SEMI-TRAILER TRUCK THIS LAST TIME AS I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF SIX LANES OF TRAFFIC, AND WITH NO STEERING, WAS HELPLESS TO MOVE. HAVE STALLED OUT IN A GAS STATION, ROUNDING CORNERS IN INTERSECTIONS, AT STOP SIGNS, DRIVING DOWN MY STREET, AND NOW FOUR TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY DURING LOW SPEED TRAFFIC CONGESTION. HAVING THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AS I AM TOO AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. THERE ARE AT LEAST FOUR OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE, AND IT SOUNDS LIKE VERY SIMILAR TO SYMPTOMS SEEN IN THE GM RECALLS. CAR STALLS WITHOUT WARNING IN MORE AND MORE DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER BECAUSE OF ITS DANGEROUSLY SERIOUS NATURE. *TR
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON WHEN DOOR IS PROPERLY CLOSED. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE W/FORD EDGE DOOR LATCHES. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR DOES NOT ALWAYS REGISTER AS CLOSED. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED WITH THE DOOR SECURELY CLOSED IT WILL DISPLAY WARNINGS ON THE DASH, UNLOCK ALL DOORS (INCLUDING REAR DOORS WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE BACKSEATS) AND TURN ON THE DOME LIGHTS. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN STARTING THE CAR, WHILE TRAVELING AND WHEN PARKED AND IDLING. IT ALSO MEANS THAT I CANNOT LOCK MY DOORS WHEN I LEAVE IT PARKED. IT CAUSES INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS TO REMAIN LIT WHEN CAR IS OFF AND DRAIN THE BATTERY. I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF ME AND MY FAMILY AS WELL AS THE SECURITY OF MY VEHICLE.
DRIVERS SIDE "DOOR AJAR WARNING" COMES ON VERY OFTEN AND WON'T GO OFF. DOESN'T ALWAYS COME ON IMMEDIATELY, BUT WHILE ON, WON'T ALLOW DOORS TO LOCK WHILE DRIVING. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. WHEN IT COMES ON, NOT ALWAYS IN A POSITION TO STOP IMMEDIATELY AND PUT IN PARK TO RESET . MUST STOP AND REPEAT CLOSING UNTIL IT TAKES. AGAIN VERY DANGEROUS. OTHER TIMES WHILE DRIVING IT WAS HARD FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP AND I HAD TO PRESS SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE I WOULD HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. NOT FEELING VERY SAFE IN MY 2012 FORD EDGE LIMITED. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RESOLVED WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM CSP-13N03. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT INVOLVES VERY SENSIBLE PARTS OF THE VEHICLE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED AND MORE PRESSURE HAD TO BE APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE, CREATING A LONGER BRAKING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
THE "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT SECURELY. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, PARTICULARLY IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN IN THE CAR. WE HAD THIS FIXED ONCE FOR OVER $150 AT A DEALERSHIP. NOW LESS THAN A YEAR LATER WE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
TRACTION CONTROL ACTIVATES FOR NO REASON ( DRY WEATHER). RESULTING IN TOTAL LOSS OF POWER AT EXPRESS WAY SPEEDS. IT WILL DEACTIVATE AR SOME POINT BUT RECYCLES SEVERAL TIMES.. ONCE CAR IS PARKED AND TURNED OFF CLEARS IT SELF.. FO D CAN NOT FIND OUT WHY THIS HAPPENS.
BOUGHT 2012 FORD EDGE IT ONLY HAD 24,000 MILES ON IT, AFTER ONE MONTH THE BRAKES STOPPED RESPONDING WHEN PARKING THE CAR ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENT MORE THAN THREE TIMES. ALSO WHEN PRESSING THE BREAK I COULD HEAR THE HISSING NOISE LIKE THERE IS AIR LEAK IN THE BRAKES. YOU WOULD HAVE TO REALLY PUSH HARD TO STOP THE CAR. AFTER ONE AND A HALF MONTHS OF DRIVING MY NEWLY PURCHASED 2012 FORD EDGE SEL, THE BRAKES WERE HARD AND I LITERALLY HAD TO STRAIN MY FOOT AND LEGS TO THE PULP AND GIVE IT ALL THE PRESSURE I COULD TO GET IT TO STOP AND TO AVOID HITTING SOMETHING OR RUNNING INTO SOMEONE. IT WAS THE MOST HORRIBLE AND STRESSFUL EXPERIENCE I EVER HAD DRIVING AND ESPECIALLY SINCE THE CAR HAD BEEN JUST PURCHASED LESS THAN TWO MONTHS WHEN THIS STARTED HAPPENING. WHAT A NIGHTMARE IT WAS!!!!! THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE FORD PLACE BEING REPAIRED AND HAS BEEN THERE SINCE FRIDAY, JULY 11, 2014. THEY HAD TO ORDER A POWER BOOSTER AND REPLACE THAT AND WHATEVER ELSE THAT WAS NEEDED TO MAKE THE BRAKES WORK PROPERLY. THERE IS A LOT THEY ARE NOT SHARING WITH ME AND AFTER READING OTHER COMPLAINTS AND REPORTS CONCERNING THIS VERY SAME MODEL, I CAN SEE WHY THEY ARE BEING SO EXTREMELY VAGUE WITH ME WHEN I ASK QUESTIONS. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THAT THE VEHICLE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A FUEL ECONOMY VEHICLE AND EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN'T COST THAT MUCH TO RE-FUEL, IT SURE DOES NEED REFUELING MORE FREQUENTLY THAN I EVER EXPECTED. I ONLY DO LOCAL DRIVING MOSTLY TO AND FROM WORK OR TO THE LOCAL NEIGHBORHOOD STORES AND SO FORTH, AND AS SOON AS I ACCELERATE, I CAN SEE THE GAS GAUGE JUST GOING DOWN, DOWN, DOWN. I AM BEGINNING TO THINK WITH ALL DUE RESPECT THAT FOR A VEHICLE THAT COST AS MUCH AS THEY SOLD IT TO ME FOR, I MAY HAVE PURCHASED A LEMON OR THE EDGE IS JUST NOT ALL THAT IT IS CRACKED UP TO BE. PROBLEM: DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON EVEN IF DOOR IS SHUT. I DROVE IT LIKE THIS FOR ABOUT 4 WEEKS WHEN BOTH HIGH BEAMS AND REGULAR BEAM HEADLIGHTS BURNED OUT SIMULTANEOUSLY AT NIGHT. I HAD TO DRIVE WITH FLASHERS UNTIL A GAS STATION TO CALL MY WIFE AND COME GET ME. I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR AND THEY SAID THERE MIGHT BE A SHORT DUE TO DOOR LATCH PROBLEM, SO THEY SUGGESTED I REPLACE BATTERY AND HEADLIGHTS FOR $400+. BY THE WAY, THE DEALER SAID HE OILED THE DOOR LATCH AND IT WAS FIXED. IT WAS NOT FIXED. THE DOOR AJAR WARNING STILL COMES ON AS I DRIVE. WHAT IS BAD IS WHEN I PARK IN A PUBLIC LOT, THE CAR WILL NOT SHUT OFF INTERIOR LIGHTS AS THE CAR THINKS DOOR IS AJAR. IN ADDITION, I CAN NOT LOCK THE CAR WITH THE FOB SO I NEED TO LOCK EACH DOOR SEPARATELY AND KEEP SLAMMING DOORS UNTIL IT GOES OFF. AT LOW SPEEDS UNDER 20MPH THE DOOR AJAR WARNING SAYS PUT CAR IN PARK. CAN YOU IMAGINE THE ACCIDENT IF SOMEONE WAS STUPID ENOUGH TO PUT A ROLLING CAR IN PARK BECAUSE OF A FAULTY DOOR LATCH SENSOR! THINKING IT WAS A FLUKE BUT THEN WENT OUT TO GET LUNCH AND IT DID IT AGAIN. VERY SCARY FEELING! THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO UNTIL THEY COULD "FEEL IT". I TOLD THEM ABOUT THE "BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER" PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND WAS TOLD NOT TO BELIEVE EVERYTHING I READ ON INTERNET. THEY KEPT SUV OVERNIGHT AND NEXT DAY BRAKES WORKED FINE AGAIN SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I WENT TO PICK UP SUV THE SECOND EVENING AND AS I HIT THE BRAKES BEFORE I EVEN PULLED OUT OF LOT IT DID IT AGAIN! I BACKED UP AND THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO GO THRU DEALERSHIP WALL. SERVICE DEPT. WAS CLOSED SO SALESMAN DROVE IT BACK & FORTH ON THE LOT. HE WAS ABLE TO "FEEL IT". I ALSO GAVE THEM A PRINT OUT OF THESE BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER PROBLEMS. THEY KEPT SUV AGAIN AND SAID THEY WOULD GET ON IT 1ST THING IN AM. AGAIN THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, AFTER SEVERAL PHONE CALLS THEY ACTUALLY TOOK IT IN THE SHOP AND TESTED BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER. CALLED ME AT 3:30 TO TELL ME BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER WAS BAD AND THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PART. MY VACATION STARTED THE NEXT DAY AND WE PLANNED ON TAKING THE EDGE ON 10 HOUR DRIVE. I HAD TO GET ASSERTIVE AND THEY TOOK BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER OFF OF ANOTHER EDGE VERSUS GIVING ME ANOTHER SUV TO DRIVE FOR A WEEK. SO FAR THE BRAKES HAVE WORKED FINE. THE MANAGER TOLD ME THEY DON'T ALWAYS HAVE TIME TO RESEARCH THESE PROBLEMS ON THE INTERNET, I TOLD HIM I DID THE RESEARCH FOR THEM! I DO LOVE THE EDGE AND HOPE THERE ARE NO MORE PROBLEMS. *TR
