WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT NIGHT, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT APPEARED, INDICATING I SHOULD SHIFT THE CAR TO PARK. SIMULTANEOUSLY, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS CAME ON AND AN ALARM STARTED CHIMING. MY VISION WAS IMPAIRED BY THE BRIGHT INTERIOR LIGHTS. AFTER NAVIGATING THROUGH TRAFFIC I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY, SHIFTED THE CAR TO PARK , GOT OUT AND CHECKED DOORS AND TAILGATE BUT ALL WERE SECURE. THIS ISSUE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY UNTIL I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE UNDER WARRANTY. I LODGED MY COMPLAINT AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE FIXED. THE CONDITION APPEARED TO BE CORRECTED UNTIL THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM , MUCH TO MY DISMAY I FOUND OUT THAT ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX HAD BEEN APPLIED, THE DEFECTIVE DOOR LATCH HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED, AND NOW TO FIX THE DOOR LATCH SWITCH WAS VERY EXPENSIVE. DISCONTENT, I RETURNED HOME AND RESEARCHED AND FOUND MY PROBLEM A POPULAR TOPIC. I STARTED A COMPLAINT WITH FORDS REGIONAL OFFICE AND WITH NHTSA BUT DIDN'T MAIL IT IN. THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN MORE PERSISTENT AND I WON'T PUT FAMILY IN THE CAR. IT HAS ALSO LEFT ME STRANDED WITH A DEAD BATTERY A NUMBER OF TIMES AS THIS SWITCH APPARENTLY CONTROLS TIME DELAYED COURTESY LIGHTS TO LET YOU EXIT THE CAR SAFELY AT NIGHT. THE PROBLEM HERE IS THEY DON'T SHUT OFF, DRAINING THE BATTERY. WITH THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS LODGED REGARDING THIS DANGEROUS CONDITION, AND QUICK FIX ALBEIT EXPENSIVE PART, I FIGURED THIS TO BE A PRIORITY RECALL. THIS ISSUE OCCURS AT ANY GIVEN TIME, STATIONARY, CITY STREETS, AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
I WAS DRIVING 35 MPH ON A FLAT ROAD ON A SUNNY DAY THAT WAS 75 DEGREES. MY FORD EDGE ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST ALL POWER AND THE AWD OFF INDICATOR CAME ON ALONE WITH A LITTLE WRENCH LIGHT. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE OR DO ANYTHING. I LIMPED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PUT IT IN PARK WHEN MY CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE, SO I SHUT IT OFF. I SAT THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED IT AGAIN, TRIED TO GO BACK ON THE ROAD AND IT DID THE EXACT SAME THING EXCEPT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I PUT IT IN PARK AND SHUT IT OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AGAIN. I LIMPED HOME BECAUSE IT WAS SUNDAY AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS. I AM VERY UPSET, AND I AM 8 MONTHS PREGNANT, I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS WHEN I HAVE THE BABY IN THE CAR. I AM TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW, BUT I DO SEE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I DO NOT THINK I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY EXPENSES THAT MAY COME WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING. EVEN THOUGH DOOR APPEARS CLOSED, THE SENSOR INDICATES IT IS NOT CLOSED. THIS RESULTS IN THE DOME LIGHTS BEING ON, EVEN WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD. IT ALSO REGULARLY TELLS ME TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK, EVEN WHEN DRIVING 65 MPH DOWN THE ROAD. *TR
THE WARNING LIGHT AND SOUND FOR THE DRIVER DOOR BEING AJAR COMES ON AND STAYS ON. THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE OF THIS AND WILL STAY ON AFTER THE CAR IS OFF AND DOORS ARE LOCKED OR UNLOCKED. I'VE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT FIXED AND WAS TOLD IT WAS SIMPLY THE SENSOR NEEDING TO BE CLEANED. AFTER I HAD IT FIXED AND PAID TO HAVE IT FIXED, THE PROBLEM BEGAN AGAIN ABOUT TWO MONTHS LATER. I'VE FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD EDGE AND OWNERS ARE HAVING TO PAY TO GET IT FIXED. *TR
INSTRUMENT PANEL CONTINUOUSLY REPORTS DRIVER'S DOOR IS AJAR WHEN IT IS CLOSED. THIS PREVENTS THE DOORS FROM LOCKING (CAN'T PREVENT CHILDREN FROM OPENING DOORS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION). ALSO, THIS CAUSES THE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO CONTINUOUSLY ASK THE DRIVER TO SHIFT TO PARK WHEN COMING TO A STOP. ALSO, THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTING TO FAIL TO DIM UNTIL THE CAR IS IN FORWARD MOTION. *TR
DOOR AJAR INDICATOR DOES NOT GO OFF AFTER PASSENGER DOOR IS CLOSED. CAR IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD BUT OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO MILEAGE. THEREFORE, DEALER CHARGED $430 TO FIX. THANKS AND GOODBYE FORD! *TR
DOOR LATCH ON DRIVER SIDE DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY. DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED, SO LIGHTS IN THE CAR STAY ON AND DOORS CAN'T BE LOCKED. BEEPING SIGNAL IS ALWAYS ON AS IS SAFETY SHIFT TO PARK WARNING. VERY UNSAFE AND DISTRACTING. I HAVE TO MENTION THAT THIS WAS"FIXED" UNDER WARRANTY BUT CAME BACK SHORTLY AFTER AGAIN.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES UP EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS CLOSED. I HAD THIS "FIXED" AT TEAM FORD IN LAS VEGAS EARLIER THIS YEAR, AND IT IS COMING ON AGAIN. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FOUR INTERIOR DOORS FAILED TO LOCK. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED EVEN WHEN THE DOORS WERE CLOSED SECURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO SPRAYED A LUBRICANT TO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR WAS BAD ON THE DRIVERS DOOR. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WOULD STAY ON CONSTANTLY. *TR
DOOR AJAR SENSORS/LIGHT DOESN'T INDICATE WHEN DOORS ARE CLOSED, AND WILL COME ON FOR NO REASON WHEN VEHICLE IS DRIVING. THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE AND DOORS UNLOCK/UNABLE TO LOCK. VERY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT OR WHEN I DRIVE WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR. *TR
PERIODICALLY WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THEY BECOME VERY WEAK NOT STOPPING THE VEHICLE UNLESS BRAKE IS STOMPED ON. TWO DIFFERENT DRIVERS LISTED ABOVE. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP TODAY 09-29-14. THEY CALLED BACK TODAY TO EXPLAIN THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER IS DEFECTIVE AND WILL TAKE BETWEEN 1-2 WEEKS BECAUSE PART IS NOT IN STOCK AND THEY ARE BACK ORDERED. DEALER NICE AND GAVE US RENTAL. THIS ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENT TODAY AND ON SATURDAY AS ALMOST MISSED STOPPING AND ALMOST ROLLING INTO INTERSECTION. GOOD THING MY WIFE AND I ARE STRONG AND COULD GET IT STOPPED. WE JUST HOPE THAT THIS DOES NOT CAUSE SOMEONE TO HAVE A BAD ACCIDENT. SHOULD BE RECALLED! *TR
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR ALERT WILL NOT TURN OFF. COMPUTER SAYS TO PUT CAR IN PARK AND SHUT DOOR. THIS DOES NOT RESOLVE THE DOOR AJAR ERROR. *TR A SECOND PROBLEM IS NOW OCCURRING; THE BACK UP CAMERA MESSAGE IS ASKING IF YOU WANT IT ON. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD MINE ON, SO WHY IS IT CONTINUALLY ASKING. A THIRD PECULIAR BEHAVIOR I'M NOTICING IS THAT WHEN YOU PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, IF YOU HAD THE RADIO ON, IT NORMALLY STAYS ON UNTIL YOU OPEN THE DOOR, NOW, THE RADIO SHUTS OFF IMMEDIATELY AS DO THE DASHBOARD INSTRUMENTS.
WHILE DRIVING AT LESS THAN THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT, WE HEARD AN EXPLOSION FROM ON TOP OF THE VEHICLE. SAW GLASS PIECES SLIDING OFF ROOF. UPON VISUAL INSPECTION WE SAW THE VISTA SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED. THE GLASS EXPLODED ALONG THE PERIMETER OF THE RETRACTABLE SUNROOF. THE CENTER OF THE GLASS WAS STILL INTACT AND THERE WAS NO VISIBLE SIGN OF IMPACT. NOTHING HIT THE GLASS. GIVEN THE PERIMETER GLASS DAMAGE, IT APPEARS THE GLASS WAS COMPRESSED INWARD SOMEHOW. THIS IS A VEHICLE DEFECT. *TR
GAS THROTTLE QUIT WORKING. CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. EVERYTHING ELSE WORKED. ENGINE WOULD NOR REV WHEN ACCELERATOR PRESSED. SEE MANUAL LIGHT APPEARED WITH A WRENCH SYMBOL ON DASH. COASTED INTO PARKING LOT AND PUT CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED. EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL. THE NEXT MORNING, THE CAR DID THE EXACT SAME THING. TOOK THE CAR TO FORD DEALER AND NOTHING SHOWS UP ON COMPUTER SCAN AND THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THEY SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE THE THROTTLE BODY,BUT COULDN'T CONFIRM. I KNOW FORD JUST RECALLED SEVERAL CARS THIS YEAR FOR EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AND ARE REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODIES. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM I AM HAVING ON OTHER EDGE MODELS. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT/WARNING APPEARS EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED. THIS PREVENTS ALL DOORS FROM LOCKING. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE WARNING IS NOT ON BUT AFTER A PASSENGER CLOSES THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING TURNS ONS. I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE SERVICED ONCE BY FORD BUT IT IS NOT HAPPENING AGAIN. FORD ISSUES A SERVICE BULLETIN BUT THAT APPEARS TO BE ONLY A STOP GAP MEASURE SINCE THE PROBLEM RECURS. *TR
A MESSAGE WARNING "SHIFT TO PARK" APPEARS ON THE CAR DASHBOARD WHEN THE CAR HAS ALREADY BEEN PUT INTO PARK POSITION. THIS WARNING MESSAGE DISALLOWS THE DRIVER TO TURN THE CAR OFF - SHUT OF THE ENGINE. THE CAR IS ALREADY IN PARK AND MESSAGE LIGHT CONTINUES TO BE ON DISPLAY ON DASHBOARD. *TR
THE WARNING SIGNAL "SHIFT TO PARK" AND "DRIVERS DOOR AJAR" IS CONSTANTLY ON. IT WAS INTERMITTENT FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS, BUT NOW IT IS CONSTANTLY ON, NO MATTER HOW HARD I SLAM THE DOOR. SO I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH THE WARNING SIGNALS AND BELLS. THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK WHEN I'M DRIVING. I CANNOT LOCK MY CAR WHEN I LEAVE IT, AS THE LIGHTS INSIDE WILL NOT GO OFF. I THINK FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED CONSTANTLY. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED, BUT THE REMEDY FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.

HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES WITH BOTH THE DRIVER DOOR AND REAR PASSENGER (DRIVERS SIDE) LATCH OR SENSOR IMPROPERLY WORKING. BOTH DOOR LATCHES AND OR SENSORS MALFUNCTIONS MAKE THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL STAY LIT, AND MAKES THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS STAY ON. THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAYING ON MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AT NIGHT AND ALSO DRAINS THE BATTERY.
MY DRIVE SIDE DOOR DOES NOT SENSE IT IS CLOSED AND THE LIGHT STAYS ON AND THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON LONGER. PERIODICALLY BECAUSE THE SWITCH IS SAYING THE DOOR IS OPEN, THE DOME LIGHT, HEADLIGHTS AND REAR LIGHTS WILL GO ON WHEN NOBODY IS IN THE CAR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 45MPH, VEHICLE LOST POWER TO THE EXTENT THAT I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER. A MECHANIC WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH. VEHICLE REMAINED RUNNING BUT IDLE WAS VERY ERRATIC. AFTER IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF, I USED A CODE READER AND DTC "P2111" APPEARED ON THE READER (THROTTLE BODY FAILURE). AFTER CLEARING THE CODE, I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND ENGINE IDLE APPEARED NORMAL. DROVE VEHICLE FOR 20 MILES WITH NO OTHER ABNORMALITIES. DURING A BRIEF REVIEW OF FORD RECALLS, TSB'S, ETC. I AM FINDING THAT THERE ARE KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE THROTTLE BODY ON OTHER MODELS BUT FOR SOME REASON NOT THE EDGE. *TR
DOOR AJAR LIGHT FOR DRIVER'S DOOR KEEPS GOING ON AND WE ARE UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS (AND THE DOOR IS LATCHED). IT IS A DISTRACTION TO HAVE THE WARNING LIGHT GO ON INDICATING YOU SHOULD PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. WHEN MINOR CHILDREN ARE PASSENGERS THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE THE DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS SINCE A LARGE VOLUME OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE ARE BEING FILED. *TR
ONE DAY WHILE PREPARING TO DRIVE THE KIDS TO SCHOOL, I ENTERED THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY VEHICLE AND SHUT THE DOOR. I STARTED THE ENGINE VIA THE PUSH BUTTON IGNITION AND THE DASH GAVE AN AUDIBLE ALARM AND LIGHT FOR MY DRIVER DOOR BEING AJAR. I OPENED MY DOOR AND FIRMLY CLOSED IT. THE LIGHT REMAINED SHOWING MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AS BEING AJAR. SINCE THEN THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY VEHICLE. THE PROXIMITY UNLOCK FEATURE OF MY VEHICLE DOES NOT WORK ON THIS SIDE NOW EITHER, I ASSUME DUE TO IT NOT REGISTERING THE DOOR AS CLOSED. THIS FEATURE WORKS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHERE I DO NOT HAVE THIS DOOR AJAR ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING THE AUTO-LOCK FEATURE DOES NOT WORK EITHER DUE TO IT REGISTERING THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AJAR. *TR

AS A RESULT, THE INTERIOR LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND A CHIME SOUNDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE FAILURE CAUSED THE INTERIOR AND THE HEAD LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DRAIN. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
DRIVE DOOR AJAR ON PANEL, DOORS WON'T LOCK, INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON INITIALLY, WHILE DRIVING IT WILL SAY TO SHIFT TO PARK DUE TO THE DOOR AJAR...WHEN YOU ACCELERATE, THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK LIKE NORMAL. AFTER TURNING CAR OFF SOMETIMES CAN'T LOCK TO VEHICLE AND THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAYS ON FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED INTO A PARKING LOT. THE NEXT DAY, THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY WERE DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
UNABLE TO LOCK DOORS FROM WITHIN CABIN DUE TO DOOR AJAR SENSOR. CHILD EASILY OPENS DOOR WHILE DRIVING. HAD A STRANGER OPEN MY DOOR AND GOT IN PASSENGER SEAT THINKING IT WAS HIS MOTHERS CAR, THAN GOODNESS HE DID NOT HAVE A GUN. LACK OF SAFETY AND SECURITY FUNCTION.
VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY FREEWAY. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED AFTER 45 MINUTES OF NORMAL DRIVING WITH OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES ABOUT MID 80'S AND A/C ON MINIMAL LEVEL. JUST BEFORE THE INCIDENT I WAS DRIVING AT AVERAGE SPEED OF 65 MPH WHEN TRAFFIC GRADUALLY SLOWED DOWN TO AROUND 20 MPH. WITHOUT WARNING VEHICLE LOST ENGINE POWER AND LOST POWER STEERING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON BUT THE RADIO AND FAN STILL ON. I STRUGGLED WITH THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE OTHER DRIVERS PASSED ME AS THE TRAFFIC BEGUN TO PICK UP SPEED AGAIN. I WAS LUCKY NO ONE HIT ME AND WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE MEDIAN BY SIGNALING WITH MY LEFT ARM EXTENDED OUTSIDE THE WINDOW. SINCE IT WAS A LONG WEEKEND THE LOCAL FORD SERVICE SHOP WAS CLOSED UNTIL TUESDAY. AFTER TWO DAYS OF TESTING AND CHECKING FORD SERVICE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY CHECKED THEIR DATABASE NATIONWIDE BUT NO SIMILAR CONCERNS WERE FOUND. I RAN THE ONBOARD DIAGNOSTICS AND EVERYTHING IS OK. THE IRONY IS THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SAME LOCAL FORD SERVICE SHOP EIGHT DAYS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT TO ADDRESS A RECALL AND FOR A 30K MILES MAINTENANCE CHECK. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY FLASHED A MESSAGE THAT SAID "AWD MANUAL TURNED OFF." I COULD NOT ACCELERATE, NOR COULD I BRAKE. I WAS LUCKY THAT THE CARS BEHIND ME DID NOT REAR-END ME. I WAS FORCED TO COAST OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAIT FOR THE CAR TO STOP ON ITS OWN. THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATES THE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN THE DOOR IS ACTUALLY CLOSED TIGHT. IF YOU SLAM THE DOOR HARD, THE WARNING CLEARS SOMETIMES BUT MAY COME BACK ON WITHOUT THE DOOR BEING OPENED. THIS IS A POOR ALARM SYSTEM DESIGN. FORD SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DESIGN AND ISSUE A RECALL. THE ORIGINAL LATCH WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT ABOUT 30K MILES. *TR

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.

THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN ACTING FUNNY FOR THE LAST WEEK AND ON 8/22/2014 UPON PULLING INTO MY GARAGE I ALMOST DROVE THRU THE WALL INTO MY MASTER BEDROOM. I CONTACTED ELK GROVE FORD THE LOCAL DEALER AND TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO THEM THE NEXT DAY. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT WHEN PRESSING ON THE BRAKE IT WAS EITHER REALLY STIFF AND IT ACTED AS IF THE BRAKE PEDAL DID NOT WANT TO PRESS DOWN OR IT WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND IT WOULD MAKE A HISSING SOUND. THIS SOUND WHEN THE PEDAL WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WOULD SOUND LIKE THE AIR BEING LET OUT OF A BALOON. SOMETIMES YOU WOULD HAVE TO PUMP ON THE BRAKE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. WHEN I TOLD THIS TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR HE ACTUALLY LAUGHED AT ME. APROXIMATELY 2 HOURS LATER I WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS READY. I WAS LIKE GREAT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY BRAKES? HE STATED "IT IS THE BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP AND IT IS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER, WE HAVE NO IDEA OF HOW LONG IT IS GOING TO BE. IT MAY BE A MONTH AND IT MAY BE 6 MONTHS." THIS IS PUTTING MY LIFE IN JEAPORDY HAVING TO DRIVE A CAR WITH FAULTY BRAKES. *TR

DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING REMAINS ON AT ALL TIMES. EVEN WHEN DOOR IS SECURELY SLAMMED SHUT. THIS CAUSES A WARNING TO APPEAR ON THE DASH, THE "DINGING" CONTINUES EVERY TIME THE BRAKE IS RELEASED, THE DOME LIGHT REMAINS ON FOR A FEW MINUTES WHEN BEGINNING DRIVING (DANGEROUS AT NIGHT) AND REMAINS ON AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE (BECAUSE IT THINKS THE DOOR IS STILL OPEN.) THIS HAS CAUSED MY BATTERY TO DRAIN TWICE. THE DOME LIGHT IS EXTREMELY DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND THERE IS NO WAY TO TURN IT OFF. I HAVE "FIXED" THE PROBLEM BY USING "KEYBOARD CLEANER". HOWEVER, THIS ONLY "FIXES" THE PROBLEM FOR A DAY OR TWO. I HAVE HAD THIS ON-GOING PROBLEM FOR 2.5 YEARS. THE PROBLEM STARTED RIGHT WHEN THE CAR HIT 30,000 MILES.

PULLING OUT OF PARKING SPACE AND NOTICED BRAKES FELT DIFFERENT. NOT DEPRESSING TO NORMAL AMOUNT. PULLED FORWARD AND WHEN COMING TO STOP SIGN AGAIN NOTICED THE DIFFERENCE IN THE BRAKE PEDAL MOVEMENT BUT NOW ALSO THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP AS QUICKLY AS IT USED.TO. IT SLOWED BUT WAS NEVER ABLE TO GET IT TO A COMPLETE STOP, SEEMED LIKE IT COASTED TO A STOP. AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES BRAKES RETURNED TO NORMAL. NEXT DAY EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING EXCEPT NOW THE VEHICLE DOES NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, IT COASTS TO A STOP AT ALL TIMES NOW. ALSO HAVE TO PUT EXTREME PRESSURE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO BEGIN TO SLOW DOWN, MUCH LESS STOP THE CAR. RESEARCH ONLINE SHOWS MANY OTHERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING 65 DOWN THE ROAD AND THERE WAS A THUMP, THE CAR LOST ALL SPEED CONTROL AND COST TO THE EDGE OF THE ROAD. THE MOTOR CONTINUED TO RUN BUT MADE A SPUTTERING SOUND WHILE RUNNING. THE DISPLAY SHOWED A YELLOW WRENCH AND THE DISPLAY SAID TO PRESS OK. I HAD CONTROL OF EVERYTHING EXCEPT FOR ACCELERATION THAT I WAS AWARE OF. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND IT DROVE NORMALLY. I CARRIED THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND IT TOOK A WEEK FOR THIS TO HAPPEN TO THEM. IT CAME UP AS A THROTTLE BODY FAULT AND THAT IS WHAT HAS TO BE REPLACED. I GOOGLE THESE SYMPTOMS ON THE INTRANET AND THESE SAME ISSUES POPPED UP ALL OVER THE PLACE. THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT AND I AM GLAD I WASN'T IN BUSY TRAFFIC AND DIDN'T GET HIT BY A TRANSFER TRUCK!! *TR

BRAKES STARTED BECOMING DIFFICULT TO APPLY REGARDLESS OF SPEED, ETC. MOST OFTEN MOST DIFFICULT TO APPLY AFTER THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE BOOSTER. SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ATTEMPTED TO BACK THE CAR OUT OF THE SERVICE BAY THE BOOSTER FAILED. COULDN'T STOP THE CAR SO HE PUT IT IN DRIVE AND IT LUNGED FORWARD AND HIT A CAR LIFT, CREASING THE FRONT BUMPER, BEFORE IT STOPPED. ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE BOOSTER AND THE DEALER SAID IT "FAILED" IN THE BOX. NUMBER THREE BOOSTER WAS INSTALLED AND IT FAILED. MASTER CYLINDER ALSO FAILED. THE DEALER CLAIMS THE NEW MASTER CYLINDER AND THE FOURTH BOOSTER IS WORKING FINE. CAR IN THE BODY SHOP GETTING THE FRONT BUMPER REPAIRED. FORD REGIONAL CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE WAS TO CALL ME AND THREE DAYS HAVE PASSED WITHOUT ANY RESPONSE. NO ONE CARE TELL ME FORD HAS CORRECTED ANYTHING. ALL THEY ARE DOING IS THROWING PARTS WITH AN ATTEMPT IT WILL FIX ITSELF. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH WHICH HAS SENSOR, BUILT IN, TO NOTIFY COMPUTER THE DOOR IS CLOSED WORKS ONLY INTERMITENLY. REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY, THEN LUBERCATED AND ADJUSTED AFTER 36,000 MILE WARRANTY EXPIRED. EACH REPAIR ONLY LASTED A FEW MONTHS. STILL HAVING PROBLEM. SHOWS DOOR AJAR AT ALMOST EVERY STOP WITH ANNOYING AND DISTRACTING ALARM DING. LEAVES MESSAGE ON INSTUREMENT PANEL, BLOCKING OTHER VITAL READINGS AND POSSIBLE ALERTS UNTIL ACKNOWLEDGED(TEMP GUAGE, ECT.). LEAVES INTERIOR LIGHTS ON CAUSING BATTERY DRAIN AND BEING STRANDED BY DEAD BATTERY. WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WITH KEY PAD. THIS HAPPENS DAILY. FIRST REPAIR BACK IN 2014.
THIS HAS RECURRED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND THE CAR STARTED JERKING, WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, WAITED A COUPLE OF SECONDS, RESTARTED IT AND IT WORKED GREAT. THE TIME BEFORE I WAS GOING ABOUT 55 MPH AND THE CAR DID THE SAME THING. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED AND IT WORKED GREAT. I'M AFRAID TO TRAVEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAID IT'S THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY AND WILL COST $400+/- TO FIX. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH THE SENSOR NOT READING THAT MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS LATCHED. TODAY, IT IS CONSTANT AND WILL NOT EVEN ALLOW ME TO LOCK THE DOORS! I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO GET IT TO "LATCH" AND CLEARLY THE DOOR IS CLOSED, BUT THE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING IS STILL ILLUMINATED. *TR
ALARM AND DASH ICON WARN DRIVER TO SHIFT INTO PARK. I PULL OFF THE ROAD AND SHIFT INTO PARK WITH NO PROBLEM APPARENT IN THE SHIFT OR TRANSMISSION. THIS ALARM IS RECURRENT MOSTLY WHEN MOVING ON THE ROADWAY AND OCCASIONALLY WHEN CAR IS STILL. THIS PROBLEM ACCORDING TO THE FORD DEALER IS A DEFECTIVE SWITCH IN THE SHIFTER LEVER ASSEMBLY. THIS IS A $325 REPAIR AND TOO COMPLEX TO COMPLETE MYSELF. THIS ISSUE IS DISTRACTING TO SAFE DRIVING REQUIRING FINDING THE OK BUTTON OR PULLING OFF THE ROADWAY TO SHIFT THE LEVER. *TR
