BOUGHT THIS CAR OCT 2019. TONIGHT, AUG 2020, AFTER DRIVING IN AN INTENSE THUNDERSTORM ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 70MPH, BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY TRAVELLED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. ONLY THE LAST 1/4" (ESTIMATED) OF TRAVEL ACTUALLY APPLIED ANY BRAKING EFFORT AT ALL. I THOUGHT MAYBE SOMEONE HAD CUT A BRAKE LINE OR SOMETHING...BUT ONCE I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF I CHECKED FLUIDS, ETC. (ALL NORMAL). AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, BRAKES WERE WORKING PROPERLY. VERY SCARY AND VERY DANGEROUS!!! WHEN CAN I EXPECT THIS TO HAPPEN AGAIN?!? I REALLY WISH I DIDNT HAVE TO DRIVE THIS THING EVERY NIGHT...
DRIVER BACK DOOR SAYS "DOOR AJAR" THOUGH DOOR IS CLOSED. SAME ISSUE AS FIELD SERVICE ACTION 19N09 BUT THE BACK DOOR NOT THE DRIVERS ACTUAL DOOR.
THIS IS AN UPDATE ON A PREVIOUS COMPLAINT, #11339451. AN INDEPENDENT AUTO REPAIR SHOP IN EL PASO, TX REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER WHICH DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THEY REINSTALLED THE ORIGINAL MASTER CYLINDER AND BOTH MANUALLY BLED THE LINES AND THEN USED A COMPUTER ASSISTED BRAKE BLEEDER WHICH CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THEIR TOTAL CHARGE WAS $100.00 COMPARED TO THE ESTIMATE FROM A FORD DEALER WHICH WAS $2,176.12. THE ESTIMATE FROM THE FORD DEALER WAS TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE ABS HSU MODULE. NEITHER PART WAS NEEDED, JUST BLEEDING THE LINES.
WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 15 MPH IN A PARKING LOT AND HAVING GONE OVER A SPEED BUMP, I HEARD A CLUNK AND IMMEDIATELY HAD A SUPER SOFT BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKES STILL STOP THE CAR, BUT WITH DIFFICULTY. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER IN EL PASO, TX DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEMS AS A DEFECTIVE MASTER CYLINDER AND FAULTY ABS HCU MODULE. THE ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIRS IS $2,176.12. CURRENT MILEAGE IS 73,070.
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN VEHICLE, BRAKE PEDAL FELT HARD/STIFF. AVOIDED A MULTI-CAR ACCIDENT POSSIBLY CAUSING MY DEATH ALONG WITH MY WIFE IN CAR. TOOK TO MECHANIC AND DIAGNOSED WITH FAULTY BRAKE BOOSTER. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 90,600 MILES ON 2012. *TR
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT THE BRAKES HAVE FAILED ON MY 2012 FORD EDGE. THE SYMPTOMS ARE IDENTICAL, SO I EXPECT THE PROBLEM TO BE IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THE BRAKES WORKED PROPERLY UNTIL THE FAILURE. SUDDENLY THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR BUT THE BRAKES WERE NOT APPLIED. BOTH OCCURRENCES WERE IN JUNE, BUT 4 YEARS APART. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS AT 31,500 KM AND THE SECOND AT 85,400 KM. THE BOOSTER FAILURE IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM AND SHOULD WARRANT A RECALL. *TR
DRIVING ON US HIGHWAY 27, 65 MPH AT NIGHT. CAR JUST STOPPED DEAD ON THE ROAD, NO WARNING, PLENTY OF GAS. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! HAD IT TOWED TO FORD DEALER WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND FOR MY YEAR,MAKE AND MODEL A RECALL FOR THE FUEL PUMP. BUT, ACCORDING TO MY VIN MY VEHICLE ISN'T COVERED. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE SINCE ITS THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE SAME VEHICLES? *TR
SAFETY ISSUE DOOR AJAR LIGHT NOT TURNING OFF WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION POSING A SAFETY THREAT TO FAMILY. BATTERY HAS DIED MULTIPLE DAYS TIMES AND REPLACEMENT WAS NECESSARY.
BLOWER MOTOR QUIT. IT'S NOT THE FUSE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND JUST STARTED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, A CAR WENT TO TURN IN FRONT OF ME AND I WENT TO BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN AND MY PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND BARELY ANY BRAKE. IM 7 MONTHS PREGNANT AND HAD MY SON AND NIECE WITH ME. COULD HAVE BEEN IN A WRECK. MY VEHICLE HAS NEW BRAKES. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND CAME UP TO A STOP LIGHT AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. IT WAS SPONGY AND SQUEAKED. PUMPED THE BRAKES AND IT STOPPED. ISSUE RECURRED AND TOOK TO LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED IT AND PRINTED RECALL PAPERWORK AND TOWED IT TO FORD. IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER. FORD "FIXED" ISSUE AND 3 WEEKS LATER THE SAME EXACT THING IS HAPPENING AND TOOK TO FORD. SERVICE MEMBER CALLS AND STATES BRAKE BOOSTER IS FINE FROM PREVIOUS REPAIR BUT IT'S NOW THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT AND THERE'S AN INTERNAL LEAK. TOLD ME IT WOULD BE $1477 PLUS TAX TO FIX. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY LAYING AROUND ESPECIALLY IN THIS PANDEMIC....WHAT DO I DO NOW? I CAN'T TRUST GETTING FROM POINT A TO POINT B. IF I HAVE A LOCAL MECHANIC FIX THE PROBLEM WILL THEY CHARGE THE SAME...LESS...WILL THEY DO A GOOD JOB? THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL TOO. EVERY COMPLAINT I'M READING FORD OWNERS ARE HAVING RECURRING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. HOW ISN'T IT RECALLED?? WHEN I GET IT FIXED, BECAUSE IT'S THE ONLY VEHICLE I HAVE, WILL I GET REIMBURSED FOR REPAIRS WITHOUT A PROBLEM?? THIS DETERS ME FROM BUYING FORD EVER AGAIN! NOT TO MENTION MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP ISN'T PLEASANT TO WORK WITH!!! I WAS CONTEMPLATING TRADING IN THIS CAR FOR ANOTHER AS I LOVE IT SO MUCH. NOT ANYMORE! *TR
VEHICLE IS NOT RECOGNIZING DRIVER DOOR IS SHUT. HAVE TO SLAM DOOR REPEATEDLY TO HAVE THE CAR REGISTER THE DOOR IS NOT AJAR.
BRAKE PEDAL SOMETIMES GOES SOFT, SOMETIMES HAVE TO PUMP BRAKES TO STOP. BRAKE PEDAL IS SOMETIMES NOT WORKING WHEN CAR SITS FOR LONGER THAN 24HRS. HAD COMPLAINED TO FORD, UNABLE TO DUPLICATE ISSUE. PROBLEM 2. SOMETIMES ALARM GOES OFF RANDOMLY WHILE PARKED. DOOR SENSOR WILL SOMETIMES SAY DOOR OPEN WHEN IT IS CLOSED AND LOCKED. PROBLEM 3 TOUCH SCREEN SOMETIMES SLOW, UNRESPONSIVE OR DOES NOT COME ON AT ALL.
A SUDDEN HARD BRAKE CAUSED BRAKE PEDAL TO BECOME SOFT AND GO COMPLETELY DOWN TO FLOOR WITH VERY LITTLE BRAKE FUNCTION LEFT. THIS HAS OCCURRED TWICE WITH MY FORD EDGE ON PAST 4 MONTHS!
DRIVER DOOR SENSOR KEEPS SHOWING DOOR AJAR WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED
FORD EDGE WARNING STATES DRIVER DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IS IS SHUT. THE CAR BEEPS WHEN STOPPED WHILE DRIVING FOR THIS DRIVER DOOR WARNING. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL ALSO STAY ON PERIODICALLY AFTER THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF BECAUSE OF THE FRONT DOOR OPEN WARNING. FORD KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY HAVE ISSUED A FIELD SERVICE NOTICE. *TR
POWER LOSS DRIVING DOWN ROAD . ALMOST CAUSED A BAD ACCIDENT, STALLED IN MIDDLE OF ROAD HAD TO TURN CAR OFF AND BACK ON . THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES NO ERROR CODE IS COMING ON . A TOOL SYMBOL FLASHES UNTIL YOU RESTART CAR .
IN JULY 2016 I HAD THE BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED AT A DEALERSHIP AFTER ENCOUNTERING BRAKING PROBLEMS, IT WAS A WARRANTY ISSUE (68530 MILES). EARLY FEBRUARY 2020 I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES, THEY WERE SPONGY AND I HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. TODAY (2/12/2020) WITH 101155 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT (SLOW SPEED) AND I ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM, EXCEPT NO SPONGY BRAKES, ZERO BRAKING ABILITY UNTIL I HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL FULLY PRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD. EVENTUALLY THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT CONDUCTED THE MAINTENANCE AND I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM. NOTE: THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IS FINE. THE EXPERIENCE EARLIER THIS MONTH TOOK PLACE WHEN I WAS PREPARING TO PARK. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, I AM CONCERNED FOR NOT ONLY MY SAFETY BUT THE PEOPLE I ENCOUNTER ON THE ROADS. I RAN MY VIN AND SEE THAT I HAVE NO RECALLS THAT HAVE YET TO BE ADDRESSED; BUT MY CONCERN IS THAT PERHAPS THE FAULTY BRAKE BOOSTER IS FAULTY AGAIN AND A RECALL NEEDS TO BE RE-ISSUED..

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TURBO CHARGER FAILED WHILE DRIVING. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PAUL CLARK FORD (464046 STATE RD 200, YULEE, FL 32097) AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTOR WAS NEEDED PRIOR TO REPLACING THE TURBO CHARGER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.
SOFT BRAKE PEDAL WHEN STOPPING AT ALL SPEEDS CITY OR HIGHWAY
THE BRAKES RANDOMLY BECOME SOFT AND THE PEDAL GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR BEFORE BRINGING THE CAR TO A COMPLETE STOP. A RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM WAS PUT OUT ON 12/23/2019 FOR 2006-10 FORD FUSION, MERCURY MILAN, LINCOLN MKZ. THE 2012 EDGE SHOULD BE INCLUDED AS A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING 55-70 MPH AND THE BRAKES RANDOMLY GO SOFT IT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS NOT A CONSTANT OCCURRENCE, AND IT IS HARD FOR MY MECHANIC TO REPRODUCE. IT HAPPENS IN ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS, PARKING, HIGHWAY, IN TOWN, WHEN ON/OFF THE BRAKES OR JUST HITTING THEM TO SLOW DOWN ON A HIGHWAY. I HAVE USED MY EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP FROM HITTING A CAR IN FRONT OF ME ON A HIGHWAY ONCE, AND MY HUSBAND HIT A BUSH WHEN PARKING BECAUSE OF THIS. I REACHED OUT TO FORD, WHO WAS AWARE OF MY COMPLAINT, AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NO ACTIVE RECALL, AND TO "BE SAFE" THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. EITHER MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE IS GOING TO GET HURT.
DRIVER DOOR CONSTANTLY SAYS "DOOR AJAR" WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY WHEN THE DOOR IS OBVIOUSLY SHUT.
WHILE TRAVELING 45 MILES PER HOUR ON AN ICY ROAD, I LOST MY BRAKES COMPLETELY, THE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR. THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS CLOSE, AND I WAS ABLE TO RECOVER. THE REPAIR FOUND THE ABS MOTOR TO HAVE AN OPEN VALVE WHICH ROBBED THE SYSTEM OF PRESSURE. THERE WAS NO AFTERMARKET ABS MOTOR AVAILABLE, SO I HAD TO BUY ANOTHER FORD PART FOR $650.00 WHICH I FEAR WILL ALSO FAIL. I SEE THERE ARE NUMEROUS SIMILAR INCIDENTS ON THE WEB AND I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE THE SUBJECT OF A SAFETY RECALL. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO FUTURE FORD OF SACRAMENTO (4625 MADISON AVE, SACRAMENTO, CA 95841) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE RETRACTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,485. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FIVE STAR FORD DALLAS/PLANO (LOCATED AT 8900 W PRESIDENT GEORGE BUSH HWY, DALLAS, TX 75252, (972) 985-3600), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
CAR STARTS TO IDLE ROUGH PRIMARILY WHILE APPROACHING/SITTING AT STOP LIGHTS THOUGH HAS HAPPENED WHILE IN MOTION. IT STARTS TO SHAKE BEFORE LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT AND/OR SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. CAR THEN "FREEZES" AS CAN'T STEER, CAN'T GO FORWARD OR REVERSE AND CAN'T SHIFT INTO ANOTHER GEAR. CAR TURNS OFF AND MAY RESTART WITHOUT ANY ISSUE OR MAY STRUGGLE TO TURN BACK ON AFTER MANY TRIES (10) WITH NORMAL FUNCTION. ONLINE SEARCH INDICATES THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS YEAR, MAKE & MODEL WITH PROBLEM BEING ATTRIBUTED TO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: BAD OIL PRESSURE SENSOR AND/OR VALVE, BAD OIL SENDING UNIT, BAD BEARINGS, WATER PUMP ISSUE RESULTING IN ANTIFREEZE BACKUP, FAULTY TACHOMETER OR BAD BATTERY JUNCTION BOX

DOOR AJAR SENSOR CONSISTENTLY TRICKERS WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED UNABLE TO DEACTIVATE. OCCURS WHEN OPENING THEN CLOSING DOORS TO DRIVE OUT OR PARKING TO DISMOUNT FROM CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND APPROACHING A STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STOPPED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE BEGAN AROUND JANUARY OF 2019 AND HAD WORSENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING; HOWEVER, AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 21, 2019. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
THERE IS A PARTIAL RECALL ON THESE MODEL FORD EDGE'S. WHERE THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER ARE DEFECTIVE AND CAUSE THE BRAKES TO FILL WITH AIR AND LOSE PARTIAL AND SOMETIMES TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKING POWER. THIS HAPPENED TO MY 2012 FORD EDGE SPORT. I BOUGHT NEW FACTORY PARTS AND HAD THEM INSTALLED BY A PROFESSIONAL. THEY WENT OUT AGAIN. IT HAD TO DO WITH HE FACTORY OF THE PARTS. PLEASE PLACE A MASS RECALL ON THIS PART. MY WIFE AND KIDS SHOULDN'T GET INTO A WRECK DUE TO BRAKES GOING OUT AGAIN. THEY ALREADY HAVE TOTALLY GONE OUT TWICE. THE 2ND TIME MY WIFE WITH DAUGHTER AND MY SON IN THE CAR COULDNT SLOW DOWN IN TIME AND GOT INTO A FENDER BENDER. IT WASN'T SERIOUS. THIS TIME. THANK YOU. ALSO, ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN NOTED BY THOUSANDS OF FORD EDGE OWNERS IS THE STYLE OF FUEL DOOR. IT DOESN'T SEAL PROPERLY WHICH IN RETURN CAUSES A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO APPEAR ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AS SELL. THANK YOU.
BRAKES GO ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. I HAVE HAD BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED AND MASTER CYLINDER AND STILL THERE IS AN ISSUE. SEE THAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING SAME ISSUE AND THAT FORD NEEDS TO CHECK INTO THIS BEFORE SOMEBODY IS BADLY INJURED!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE DOOR FAILED TO REMAIN SECURELY LATCHED. THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BRADEN FORD LOCATED AT 9090 ALAMO DR, TAMPA, FL 33619, WHO REPLACED THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH HOWEVER, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER SERVICE COVERAGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
BREAKS ARE HARD AND THEN GO TO THE FLOOR. BREAK FLUED SEEMS TO BE LEAKING FROM THE BREAK BOOSTER. MY WIFE INHERITED THIS VEHICLE FROM HER MOTHER WHO HAS PARKINSON DISEASE AND CAN NO LONGER DRIVE. SHE TOOK OWNERSHIP ON OR ABOUT AUGUST 19, 2019. SHE HAS COMPLAINED ABOUT THE BREAKS, BUT THE PROBLEMS SEEMED TO COME AND GO. OVER THE PAST 2 DAYS THE BRAKES FAILED SEVERAL TIMES WITH HER NARROWLY AVOIDING MAJOR ACCIDENTS.AS SHE ATTEMPTED TO STOP AT LIGHTS IN A 45 MPH ZONE IN THE CITY OF FLOWER MOUND TX. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. MILLAGE IS CURRENTLY 11,1030.
INTERMITTENTLY, AT LOW SPEEDS THE BRAKE PEDAL IS HARD TO DEPRESS AND BRAKING IS DIFFICULT. IT OCCURS FREQUENTLY IN REVERSE AND LESS SO IN DRIVE.
"TAKATA RECALL' - I CANNOT COUNT HOW MANY TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE. THE BREAKS JUST REFUSES TO FUNCTION AND THE SPEED WOULD NOT DECREASE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE BREAKS AND THEY ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. LAST SUNDAY (SEPTEMBER 8,), MY FAMILY AND I ALMOST DIED ON THE WAY TO CHURCH. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP!!! IT FINALLY CAME TO A HALT AFTER BEEN STOPPED BY A PAVEMENT. I HAD TO CALL FORD FOR A TOW TRUCK (WHICH I HAD TO PAY FOR BUT THEY GAVE ME A DISCOUNT). MY CAR HAS BEEN WITH THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR THREE DAYS NOW. THEY KEEP SAYING THAT THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT - THIS WAS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME AND 1-2 MONTHS LATER, WE ARE BACK AT THE EXACT SAME SPOT!! THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE ONLINE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. WHO ELSE IS SUPPOSED TO DIAGNOSE A CAR BUT THE MANUFACTURER?!! IF THE MANUFACTURER CANNOT FIND WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT, THEN THE WORLD IS IN BIG TROUBLE. I THANK GOD FOR ALWAYS PROTECTING MYSELF AND MY FAMILY. MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION FROM HIGHWAY TO TURNING TO RED LIGHT. THROTTLE BODY IS CAUSING CAR TO STOP AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT AN ELECRATED RATE OF SPEED FOR NO REASON. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPY IN A CAR THAT IS A 2012 AND ONLY HAS 68000 MILES. THIS HAPPENS ON AN OPEN HIGHWAY. IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, I SELECTED THE LAST TIME.
WHEN NORMALLY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ABS INTERMITTENTLY ACTIVATES. ALSO, THE BRAKE PEDAL GETS SOFT. THERE ARE VERY NEW BRAKES ON MY 2012 FORD EDGE. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER, FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE HOTLINE ALL SAY THERE IS NO KNOWN ISSUE AS THIS. THERE ARE WEBSITE LISTING NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS INDICATING SAME ISSUES WHERE ABS ACTIVATES, BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BY FORD AND A RECALL PERFORMED. SO FAR, NO KNOWN DEATHS BUT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY ACCIDENTS WITH INJURIES. THE ISSUE IS IN THE ABS, NOT THE BOOSTER, NOT THE MASTER CYLINDER. DISABLING THE ABS REMOVES THE ISSUE. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE DIES.
THIS IS NOW MY SECOND DOOR TO HAVE THIS ISSUE. THE "DOOR AJAR" MESSAGE/ALERT COMES ON WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THE FIRST TIME WAS DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR. THIS TIME IS THE DRIVER DOOR. THIS MESSAGE DOES NOT GO AWAY WHEN I DRIVE. IT TELLS ME TO SHIFT TO PARK. IT CHIMES AT ME EVERY TIME I COME TO A STOP. IT MAKES MY DOME LIGHTS STAY ON. MOST IMPORTANTLY, MY DOORS DO NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. WHEN I RUN INTO A STORE AND MY DAUGHTER STAYS IN THE CAR, SHE IS NOT ABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS WHILE I AM OUT. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE! FROM WHAT I SEE ONLINE THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE. I AM DISTRACTED BY DRIVING WITH ALL OF THESE THINGS GOING ON ALL THE TIME. I WAS JUST QUOTED $450 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. FIXING THIS ISSUE FOR THE 2ND TIME. DIFFERENT DOOR, SO, TWO MORE TO GO! THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND RECALLED.
LEAKING (PTU) POWER TRANSFER UNIT ON 2012 FORD EDGE WITH 49,032 MILES ON IT. THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND FORD WILL NOT REFUND THE CUSTOMER UNTIL IT IS DECIDED THAT IT SHOULD BECOME A RECALL. EVEN THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED THAT FORD BE CONTACTED FOR A REIMBURSEMENT OF THE PROBLEM. I HAVE A VIDEO FROM THE DEALERSHIP, BUT NO PHOTOS.
TAKATA RECALL. MY VEHICLE IS EXPERINCEING THE SAME THING LISTED IN RECALL #14V393000 FOR THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL OF MY VEHICLE. HOWEVER MY VIN DOES NOT MEET THE RECALL. THE HALFSHAFT AND LINKSHAFT BECOME DISENGAGED WHILE DRIVING AND POWER IS NO LONGER BE TRANSMITTED TO THE WHEELS. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THIS ACCURED FORCING ME TO PULL OF. ONCE IN PARK THE VEHICLE SHAKES. TURN THE ENGINE OFF. WAIT A MINUTE OR TWO AND START IT BACK UP AND IT RUNS FINE. THIS HAS ACCURED 6 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE MALFUNCTIONING. THE CONTACT NOTICED A CRACK ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE ROTOR THAT PULSATED WHEN DRIVING DOWN A HILL. THE CONTACT SUSPECTED THE DEALER SWITCHED THE VIN WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE WHEN SHE TOOK IT TO JEFF WYLER NISSAN OF CINCINNATI (8680 COLERAIN AVE, CINCINNATI, OH 45251, (513) 385-1400) EARLIER FOR AIR CONDITIONING REPAIRS. THE REPAIRS HAD NOT YET BEEN COMPLETED. THE DEALER DENIED THE VIN ACCUSATION AND THE CONTACT WAS SEEKING LEGAL ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT SINCE THE DEALER WAS NOT AUTHORIZED BY THEM, THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR, SHE WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP THE CAR IN A TIMELY MANNER, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. WE TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS MOST LIKELY THE MASTER CYLINDER, THEY REPLACED IT BUT THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THERE. THEY THEN REPLACED A HYDRAULIC BRAKE MODULE AND SAID IT WAS OK. WE PICKED IT UP, PAID $781.40 FOR THE REPAIR. WE DROVE IT HOME APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE, AND THE PROBLEM HAD NOT CHANGED, WE ALMOST WENT THROUGH THE GARAGE BEFORE IT WOULD STOP.
On July 31, 2019, I had the brake booster replaced at Midas due to a hissing noise and a loss of brake pressure, costing me $733.39. At that time, I checked for a Ford recall but found none for my VIN. I recently came across Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 13N02: Certain 2010-2014 Model Year Edge and MKX Vehicles Extended Warranty Coverage on Brake Booster. While I never was contacted by Ford about this issue for my 2012 Ford Edge, I feel it should be part of the program as it was clearly a safety issue at the time. Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 13N02 does show as an outstanding field service action for my VIN.
DRIVING DOWN A STEEP HILL AFTER PICKING UP MY INFANT CHILD FROM DAYCARE MY BRAKES LOST ALL PRESSURE. MY BRAKES HAD DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BEFORE CATCHING ANY BRAKES AT ALL. I IMMEDIATELY THREW MY CAR INTO 1ST GEAR AND BEGAN MY VERY SLOW AND SCARY DESCENT INTO TOWN AND IMMEDIATELY INTO THE SERVICE STATION. I PARKED THE CAR, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. WHEN THE TECHNICIAN CAME TO TEST DRIVE FOR ISSUES AS THERE WERE NO CODES BEING THROWN, THE CAR HAD REGAINED ITS NORMAL BRAKES. I HAD MISTAKENLY ASSUMED IT WAS A GLITCH OF SOME SORT AND TWO WEEKS LATER IT DID THE SAME THING IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING IN TOWN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, SHUT THE CAR DOWN AND RESTART THE ENGINE, BUT THIS TIME THE CAR DID NOT REGAIN THE BRAKES AS NORMAL AND IS STILL NOT DRIVEABLE WITH MY KIDS IN TOW. WE HAVE MANAGED TO PARK IT IN THE MEANTIME, BUT THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN AFTER THE DOOR IS TIGHTLY SHUT CAUSING THE DOME LIGHT TO STAY ON AND CAUSING THE DOOR TO BE UNABLE TO BE LOCKED,
INTERMITTENT BRAKE FAILURE. FIRST OCCURRENCE ON 7/9/19. MOST RECENT, TODAY, 9/17/19. NO WARNING LIGHTS, SYSTEM SHOWS BRAKES ARE OK, FLUID LEVEL IS CONTINUALLY PERFECT. ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING. YOU GO TO APPLY BRAKES AND IT SUDDENLY GOES STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. FIRST 3 OCCURRENCES I WAS ABLE TO PUMP THE BRAKES HARD 3-6 TIMES AND IT GRADUALLY WENT BACK TO NORMAL. 4TH TIME RESULTED IN BRAKE FAILURE MULTIPLE TIMES OVER A 2-3 MILE PERIOD, CONTINUALLY PUMPING BRAKES. THEY WOULD START TO STIFFEN UP, BE SPONGY, FALL TO THE FLOOR AGAIN, STIFFEN UP, FAIL, SPONGY, ETC. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND THERE APPEARS TO BE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS. HOW MANY CRASHES OR DEATHS WILL IT TAKE TO HOLD THE MANUFACTURER ACCOUNTABLE? THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED THOROUGHLY, THE ISSUE NEEDS TO BE DETERMINED AND CORRECTED PRIOR TO THE LOSS OF LIFE OR SERIOUS INJURY. PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS SHOW COSTLY REPAIRS WITH NO RESULT OF THE ISSUE BEING CORRECTED. ALL 4 INSTANCES OF BRAKE FAILURE I HAVE EXPERIENCED I WAS IN MOTION, ON A COUNTY ROAD, THREE INSTANCES OF TURNING AND ONE GOING STRAIGHT.
THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS SENDING FALSE SIGNALS THAT THE DRIVERS DOOR IS OPEN WHEN THEY ARE IN FACT IT IS CLOSED. THE FAULTY SENSOR TRIGGERS AN AUDIBLE WARNING, ACTIVATES A WARNING LIGHT AND CAUSES A "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGE BECAUSE THE COMPUTER MISTAKENLY BELIEVES THE VEHICLE HAS STOPPED (THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE RECENTLY WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT; VERY SCARY). DOME LIGHTS STAY ON, BATTERY IS DRAINED AND AT TIME DOORS UNLOCK AND CANNOT BE MANUALLY RE-LOCKED. THREE YEARS AGO I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED ($380). THREE YEARS LATER, THE SAME ISSUE IS HAPPENING.
ABS, MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER FAILED. PROBLEM IS INFREQUENT SOFT PEDAL. 1. BOOSTER REPLACED UNDER FORD NOTICE 13N02C. BUT SOFT PEDAL PERSISTED OFF AND ON FOR MONTHS 2. NOW DEALER SAYS ABS AND MASTER CYLINDER ARE NOT WORKING RIGHT. 3. DEALER REQUESTED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM FORD AND NO REPLY. $1800 EST FOR REPAIRS 4. CAR IS SITTING AT THE DEALER FOR 2 WEEKS WITH NO RESOLUTION, TODAY IS 7/19/2019. WHY HAVE ALL THREE MAJOR BRAKING COMPONENTS FAILED ON THIS CAR? ONE PROBLEM, BOOSTER, FORD FIXED N/C BUT NOW THEY ARE NO HELP WITH THE OTHER TWO. IS THERE A DESIGN OR MFG PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM? THE SOFT PEDAL IS VERY INFREQUENT BUT SCARY WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN. DEALER HAD DIFFICULTY FIGURING OUT THE ISSUES AS WE KEPT COMING BACK BUT BY THE TIME WE ARRIVED THE SOFT PEDAL WENT AWAY AND THE DEALER COULD NOT TEST IT. FINALLY WE CAME BACK AND THE PEDAL WAS SOFT AND THEY TESTED IT AND DETERMINED IT WAS THE ABS AND MASTER CYLINDER. DEALER SAYS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE
