My vehicle loses the throttle and stops on the highway.
Had diagnosis test done and did process of elimination. Said needed ignition coils/ spark plugs did all that plus fuel injector and oxygen sensor put in bran new and check engine still blinking and car stutters. Only 10miles per gallon on car. You can smell fumes inside car severally. Looked on website and said this car had recall on fuel system/ gasoline. So am I able to take in to manufacture and they fix free cuz of seriously dangerous defect. Car could egnite.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the brake pedal would go to the floorboard while depressed with an abnormal sound. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
Intermittent brake issue, rock hard or down to the floor squish very soft and having to pump brakes, hissing noise. I am afraid there is going to be some kind of highway crash because of this problem and my warranty is not covering it because it's intermittent, but when it does happen it lasts days. I have a baby now and am afraid to drive my vehicle to far/fast. With all the comments I've been seeing it's the exact same issue, model and year. This NEEDS to be recalled before it turns into the Toyota problem years ago when the brakes completely failed.
the throttle body has failed, suspected by me doing research going back 11 years of the Ford Edge almost killing people while driving it. confirmed by my local ford dealership that i do infact need a new throttle body and gaskets. it goes into limp mode, the car loses power and stops working in the middle of driving 50 mph. No check engine light remains on, only a wrench icon appears until you restart the car, then the car works again for another 30 miles or until it wants to cause a major accident again. This is a HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. My car will jolt down to 10 mph, as if I slammed the brakes, while driving, not even having my foot on the gas, down the HIGHWAY where the speed limit it 55. THIS IS A KILLING MACHINE. I only have moments to pull over to the median or somewhere before I cause a major accident. They have recalled the 2009 through 2013 ford fusion and escape, as well as the milan and mariner because of the same issue. I have read hundreds of accounts online of the same thing happening in Edges... how can you allow this to go unchecked.
2 months after I purchased this vehicle in 2021, I noticed soft brakes, the vehicle displayed low oil pressure it locked up and turned off. Proper oil was added and the brakes appeared normal afterwards. Around mid August 2022, I noticed that when I put pressure on brakes to slow the vehicle, the peddle would sink slowly to the floor and hard to slow vehicle down. So brakes were inspected and the rear brake pads were worn all the way down and the front brakes were like new.. All four brake pads were replaced with new pads. Well this did not correct the problem. I would still hear a swoosh from the brake peddle when releasing and brakes continued to slowly sink to floor.. So the master cylinder and the vacuum booster were replaced, brake lines were bled over 10 times and problem was still not corrected. No warning lights ever reflected on the vehicle. Now the vehicle will mot start and now i have to tow to repair shop. When I started looking up issues regarding my 2012 Ford Edge SEL, tan color. I noticed this has been a reoccurring issue with this make/model. Also, no repair/recall stickers were attached to the vehicle to address this issue. I purchased this vehicle August 2021 from a dealer in Wilmington, NC.
Brake pedal goes almost to floor. It has a little engagement at the top pedal then becomes spongy then stopping power at the bottom of pedal. Also there is a "thump" sound when you first press the pedal. When you let off rmr pedal there is a whistle. The booster was replaced during an extended warranty several years ago.
There is a bump sound and the engine goes into Limp Mode. The wrench symbol appears. After stopping and shutting down the engine, it will start normally and continue to run normally. Problem is when it happens on a heavily traveled road and there is a distance before one can turn off.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the door failed to close and lock securely. The door ajar message was displayed. The battery was drained due to the failure. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 220,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while attempting to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed and extended to the floorboard. The vehicle failed to immediately stop, nearly causing a rear-end collision with another vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to an independent dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would not properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal, with the check engine warning light and fuel filler inlet message illuminated. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and the local dealers were notified but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 136,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle started shaking and depressing with the accelerator pedal being depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as designed. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to exit the highway and continued driving to her destination. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that both front axles, the exhaust pipe, and the fuel injector needed to be replaced. Additionally, there was a leak in the evaporative emission control system (EVAP). The vehicle was repaired, except for the evaporative emission control system (EVAP). The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V438000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 179,000.
In June of 2018 with 48,182 miles on my vehicle, I experienced the brake pedal very hard to push some of the time, and then other times, the brakes would not stop and you could hear air come out from the brake pedal. Realizing this was a hazard for myself and other drivers, I took my car into a Ford Dealership. They stated that there was a recall on the brake booster and replaced the part free of charge. In November of 2020 with 80,060 miles on my vehicle, the exact thing happened again. I contacted the Ford Dealership, they stated there is no other recall and because it had been over 12 months from the first replacement that they could not replace it free of charge, so I paid a shop over $500 to replace the brake booster again. Now, August 17th, 2021 less than 9 months later and only 10,000 more miles on my vehicle it has happened again! The Ford Dealership recommended that I contact Ford's corporate office. Ford Corporate told me that they will not cover the cost to repair my vehicle for the 3rd time and will not provide the part free of charge. This is an obvious issue with their brake booster part or a deeper issue that isn't being addressed, leaving vehicle owners, like myself, at risk of getting into an accident due to a faulty brake system.
On 8-15-21 as I was driving, I was suddenly unable to break properly and had to depress the peddle almost down to the floor to engage the breaks. This happened one isolated time one month prior but went away. I had the car towed to Walnut Creek CA Ford for service where after multiplier test drives replicated the problem, flushed the break line and determined I needed a new HCU because of a sticking valve. I researched the issue and discovered this exact issue was the subject of a Ford recall in 2019 but of other models not including mine. I called Ford to see if they would cover the cost since it was a safety issue that they recognized in a very large recent recall that was the result of over 25 accidents and multiple deaths. Ford refused to cover the cost. NHTSA should be aware of this safety issue because it is effecting more cars than covered.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the pedal felt spongy and would sometimes extend to the floor. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the brake booster, but the failure continued to occur. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The contact indicated that the brake master cylinder had previously been replaced due to the same failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.
Brakes continually malfunction and fail intermittently. It has been an ongoing issue for just over two years. We have found they malfunction and fail after any loss of traction, such as turning on a gravel road or hitting a pothole. For quite some time we have been able to stop and pump the brakes hard and hold them down, repeating until the brakes tightened back up. The last 3 days however they will not function properly. This malfunction/ failure causes extremely spongey brakes making it extremely difficult to slow or stop, having to push the pedal nearly to the floor to start slowing down. Problem had not been reproduced by servicer however we could reproduce the problem once we determined it was a loss of traction causing it. NO warning lights of ANY kind have ever Illuminated! System check always shows brakes are good. Brake fluid is always good. Brakes have been bled multiple times, replaced and brake booster has been replaced as that is what the dealer thought it was the last time i had it checked. Brake booster did NOT fix the hissing or the malfunctioning or failure. So many people with an Edge have brake issues! Please help us get this resolved and corrected before someone gets seriously injured or dies! I have nearly every single date my brakes have malfunctioned/failed and I will provide if requested!
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the latch on the driver’s side door failed to operate intermittently with the door ajar warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not been diagnosed nor repaired. A diagnostic test was scheduled but was still pending. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.
I was driving the car approximately 35 MPH the car completely shut down. A couple of days later while accelerating from a stop sign it completely shut off again.
Brakes peddle soft, fluid full, intermittent times where putting on the brake and felt they weren’t working (scary). Pads, rotors fine. Taking in to dealer and anticipate they will replace brake booster, master brake cylinder and still the brake issue remains not fixed. Reading posts on internet and many owners having same issue where dealer can’t seemed to be able to determine problem.
Brakes were working totally fine for 1 hr. drive to city. A few hours later, I returned to my car to drive home. When I put my foot on the brake pedal while it was in park (but engine started,) everything felt normal. When I put it into reverse to back out of the spot, my foot went all the way to the floor. This "soft pedal" occurred with NO warning lights/sounds/etc. There was NO warning that my brakes would give out on me at all. Luckily, mine happened,(both occasions), in parking lots, not in higher speed situations. Any higher speed situation could have been catastrophic. It was frightening. Fortunately, I was a nearly vacant lot, so I tried backing up to see what would happen and the brake again had to go ALL THE WAY to the floor and made a grinding sound (like stopping on gravel sort of). It did not stop as usual. It rolled to a stop after traveling a few feet. (Mind you, this is only rolling back from a parked position.) I got on You Tube and typed in "2012 Ford Edge, brake to the floor" there were hundreds of folks complaining about this issue. It is related to the ABS Hydraulic Control Unit, although my ABS never illuminated. You Tube had "quick temporary fix". Go in reverse upto 20-25 MPH and slam on the brakes "grenade stopping". Took 7 times (frightening given I didn't know if the brakes would engage at all), my brake pedal popped back up from the floorboard and it felt like a hard pedal again. It worked fine for one day. The same problem reoccurred the next day. Same reverse/grenade stop procedure and it got me to the dealership. Apparently this gets the valve to go back to closed position after air got in HCU from open valve. My Ford Service Advisor acknowledged how common the repair was and were surprised the Edges weren't included in the 19S54 Recall with other models. Repair cost me $1,435. They also found the Master Cylinder needed some repair-more money. I will try to get the actual part removed from my car back for inspection
I've had the car for a year and it suddenly loses power during acceleration and Is throwing the P0299 turbocharger code. I was getting on the interstate when the car did this the 1st and 2nd times. It was a very busy time of day and my car suddenly decellerated in front of an 18 wheeler with my kids in the car. NO MATTER how hard I hit the gas it would not go and I almost got ran over by a tractor trailer. I had to slam on brakes and squeeze between the on ramp and a bridge guardrail to not be hit.
As I was driving, all of a sudden the car would not pick up speed. I gently put additional pressure on the gas, but nothing happened. I was lucky as I was going out to my mom's. As I pulled into the drive way I heard thumping noises (that is the best way I can explain the sound). Turned car off, visited with my mom, hours later drove home not issues / no light indicators. About a month later I was approaching a stop sign. As I proceeded after the red light turned green, the car again would not increase in speed. I gently applied more pressure to the gas pedal but it would not pick up speed. I had my foot on the gas almost to the floor. I was approaching an overpass but was skeptical about the car gaining speed enough to go over it. I thought best to pull over and seek other options. I called a tow truck and had it towed to my home. The following Monday I had taken it to a repair shop. The garage had it for two days and was unable to detect any thing wrong. This is a serious issue, if this would of happened on a busy freeway, this could result in serious accident in which fatalities could have happened. Losing power on a busy freeway is a disaster waiting to happen. I know my car, this has happened to me two times within 3 months. I am afraid to drive it and have take steps to correct this, but garages "cannot fix what they cannot find". So tell me FORD corporation what advice are giving to you consumers? Or are you going to wait until someone gets killed ?
This is my 20 year old daughter's car. She attends college in another state. Recently, the door ajar light comes on and will not go off. This prevents her from locking her doors, all of them! Not while driving, and not when parked. The closes all doors and tries to lock the car, and the passenger side "door ajar" light remains on, even though the door is closed and shut tight. The repair to this issue is replacing the entire door latch mechanism and costs over $500 at the dealer. I would do it myself, but the Ford door assembly is very complicated and must be done in a precise manner. Right now, the car is parked as my daughter is on a summer trip. The interior lights are always on, so the battery has been drained and is now dead. It will not take a charge. So, I need a new battery before I can even work on the door. I believe this is a safety issue because the doors cannot be locked. The security alarm cannot be activated, and most importantly, my daughter cannot lock herself safely inside if she was being pursued by an attacker. Criminals could also ransack her belongings from the unlocked vehicle and homeless vagrants could sneak inside as well. Ford needs to recall all these Ford Edge's with this problem. I'm told it's the 3rd most popular complaint on the forums.
While backing up, the camera will often reverse the view or flip upside down. Other times it will suddenly black out. All result a scary and unsafe situation. Especially when reversed and it looks clear on the wrong side!!
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated while attempting to reverse the vehicle out of the driveway, and also while driving approximately 25 MPH, the braking system failed to operate properly. The contact depressed the brake pedal to the floor; however, the vehicle failed to respond as designed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that a family member and an independent mechanic attempted to repair the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.
MY DOOR AJAR MESSAGE STAYS ON,DOOR IS NOT AJAR WHILE DRIVING BUT DOME LITES STAY ON AFTER THE CAR IS OFF FOR A WHILE BEFORE THE LITES FINALLY SHUT OFF, BAD SWITCH OR SENSOR, IF SO HOW CAN THIS BE FIXED, BEFORE MY BATTERY WEARS DOWN? THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I USE THE DRIVERS SIDE PASSENGER DOOR! THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON NOW FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS!
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR WITH MY 6 YEAR OLD IN IT AND IT SUDDENLY LOST POWER ON THE FREEWAY. THERE WAS A YELLOW WRENCH THAT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD I WAS ABLE TO VEER OVER TO SAFETY. FORD SAID IT WAS THE MAF AIRFLOW SENSOR. WE REPLACED IT. TODAY, 4 DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. I BOUGHT THIS CAR 2 MONTHS AGO FROM ALBANY SUBARU AND THEY CLAIMED IT PASSED A 19 POINT INSPECTION. I HAVE A LOAN OUT ON IT AND IT'S A COMPLETELY UNSAFE VEHICLE
backup camera shows image in upside down position.
THIS COMPLAINT IS REGARDING THE VISTA PANORAMA SUNROOF. WHILE TRYING TO CLOSE MY SUNROOF, I STARTED HEARING LOUD POPPING SOUNDS. I HAD TO TAKE MY CAR TO A MECHANIC TO GET THE SUNROOF CLOSED. I WAS LATER INFORMED THAT THE CLIPS ON THE GUIDES WERE BOTH BROKEN. NEEDLESS TO SAY, FORD IS MANUFACTURING CHEAP TRACKS THAT ARE HELD TOGETHER WITH PLASTIC CLIPS DESIGNED TO MOVE VERY HEAVY GLASS BACK AND FORTH. THIS IS UNTENABLE. I HAVE RESEARCHED NUMEROUS OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE WITH VERY LITTLE AFFORDABLE RESOLUTIONS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING 15 MPH, SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT IT FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED IT FELT SPONGY. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER IN THE OTHER VEHICLE SUSTAINED A BUMP ON HER LEFT SHIN BONE AS SHE WAS STANDING OUTSIDE OF HER VEHICLE PUTTING HER CHILD INTO THE VEHICLE MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED FOR HER INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO KENT CHEVROLET CADILLAC, INC. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKES WOULD NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, THE THROTTLE BODY, AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WITH THE BRAKES RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, NO ASSISTANCE WOULD BE OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,118.
ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS OVER THE FEW YEARS WE'VE OWNED THIS VEHICLE WE HAVE EXPERIENCED AN ALMOST COMPLETE LOSS OF BREAKING POWER JUST TRAVELING STRAIGHT ON A CITY ROAD OR PARKING LOT. THE BREAKS WILL SUDDENLY BECOME VERY SOFT AND ONLY BEGIN TO WORK WITH THE PEDAL MASHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. WE HAVE NARROWLY AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT EACH TIME BECAUSE WE WERE AT VERY LOW SPEEDS BUT CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF WE HAD BEEN TRAVELING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE IT APPEARS IT HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR MANY FORD OWNERS SINCE 2012 BUT THEY HAVE IGNORED THE SAFETY CONCERNS.
HEADLIGHTS HAVE BURNED OUT 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 YEARS. BOTH HEADLIGHTS BURN OUT. BOTH HIGH AND LOW BEAMS BURN OUT AT THE SAME TIME. BOTH HEADLIGHTS WERE REPLACED WITHIN 3 MONTHS AND 1 HAS ALREADY BURNED OUT. THE DEALER IS RECOMMENDING REPLACEMENT OF BOTH ASSEMBLIES AT ACOST OF 1400+. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT INVOLVING THIS AREA.
The backup camera is faulty. Sometimes you will start the car and it works but most of the time it is just a black screen. I can go out and make several stops and sometimes it will flash on and then go right off. I know there have been several recalls about this but this model so far hasn't been included. It is a widespread problem as I have another Ford vehicle that does the same thing and it is a safety issue.
I HAD MY BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO MY BRAKE PEDAL WAS GOING TO THE FLOOR. TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER BUT THE BRAKES WERE OK AGAIN. THEY SAID THEY COULD DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. 2 WEEKS AGO SAME PROBLEM PEDAL GOING THE FLOOR, NOW SPONGY PEDAL. HAD A NEW BRAKE HOSE PUT ON AND THE BRAKES BLED AND IT IS STILL SPONGY. TROUBLE STOPPING VERY DANGEROUS!!
MY VEHICLE EXHIBITS ILLUMINATED DOME LIGHTS AND DOOR AJAR MESSAGES WHEN DOORS ARE FULLY CLOSED. I GET ERROR MESSAGES INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING OF DOOR AJAR NOTIFICATION AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL COME ON UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING. THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS ALSO STAY ILLUMINATED EVEN WHEN I HAVE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND LOCKED THE DOORS, DRAINING BATTERY. I HAVE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF FORD'S VOLUNTARY EXTENSION OF DOOR LATCH WARRANTY THROUGH JULY 2020. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT. MY CAR BEGAN EXHIBITING THE DEFECT IN NOVEMBER 2020. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I AM ALARMED AND CANNOT SEE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS SUDDENLY POP ON. I ALSO FEAR MY CHILD WILL OPEN THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING AS THE "LOCK" FEATURE IS UNRELIABLE DUE TO THE DEFECT. IN ADDITION, IT IS UNSAFE FOR ME TO PARK MY VEHICLE AT NIGHT NOT KNOWING IF I WILL HAVE A DRAINED BATTERY LATER BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY TO SHUT OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS.
BRAKES ROUTINELY WILL GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND MAKES STOPPING CAR DIFFICULT. TOOK CAR TO FORD WHO ONLY SAID THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE BRAKE ISSUE AFTER KEEPING MY VEHICLE FOR 2 WEEKS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER 2 YEARS. FORD REPLACED BRAKE BOOSTER IN 2014 ON A RECALL. BRAKES WORKED FINE FOR A FEW YEARS AND WENT BACK TO NOT FULLY STOPPING THE VEHICLE. DOESN'T DO IT ALL THE TIME BUT HAPPENS FREQUENTLY. IF I PUMP THE BRAKES ENOUGH AT A STOP LIGHT THEY WILL WORK FOR A WHILE WITH NO ISSUES. I CAN'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE FREQUENTLY BECAUSE OF THE DANGER IT POSES IF THE BRAKES SHOULD NOT WORK.
THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE HARMONIC BALANCE ON THE 2012 FORD. THE PART IS OUT OF STOCK AND BACKORDERED EVERY WHERE.
BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKES ARE ALMOST ENTIRELY DISENGAGED. THIS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY AT FIRST BUT NOW SEEMS PERMANENT, RENDERING VEHICLE UNSAFE FOR USE. THIS PROBLEM NEARLY RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED, THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. BRAKE FLUID IS GOOD AND CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM IS UNKNOWN. CAR IS CURRENTLY PARKED AS WE DO NOT KNOW HOW TO PROCEED SAFELY. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING AT ANY SPEED OR DIRECTION.
THIS IS THE 2ND TIME SINCE PURCHASING THIS 2012 FORD EDGE THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED LOSS OF BRAKES. THE 1ST TIME THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED REPLACED. I AM NOW DEALING WITH THE SAME PROBLEM 3 OR SO YEARS LATER. THIS HAPPENED LAST NIGHT ON MY WAY TO SCHOOL WHICH ALMOST RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. I'M NOW MISSING 2 DAYS OF SCHOOL IN ORDER TO FIND SOMEONE CAPABLE OF FIXING THIS. THIS OBVIOUSLY IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS COMPONENT. THIS NEAR ACCIDENT OCCURRED ON A CITY STREET, HOWEVER MY ROUTE HOME WAS ALSO ON THE HIGHWAY
FIRST THE MASTER CYLINDER WENT, THEN THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND NOW THE HYDROLIC CONTROL UNIT. EACHPART MORE EXPENSIVE THENTHE LAST AND THE LAST BEING 2119.20 TO REPAIR. THE ENTIRE BRAKING SYSTEM, PARTS I WAS TOLD SHOULD NOT BREAK. I HAVE BEEN TOLD, BY A REPUTABLE MECHANIC THAT OFTEN WHEN REPLACING THE BRAKE BOOSTER, THE LINES ARE IMPROPERLY BLED ANDAIR GETS INTO THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. UPON FARTHER RESEARCH ON LINE INTO THE ISSUE, THERE ARE PAGE AFTER PAGE OF THE SAME COMPLAINT.
MY DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR SENSOR KEEPS SAYING IT IS OPEN WHEN IT ISN'T. THIS CAUSES ME TO DRIVE WITH THE LIGHT ON UNTIL IT EVENTUALLY TURNS OFF. WHEN I PARK AND LOCK THE CAR THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON FOR A LONG WHILE. AND THE ALARM EVEN BEEPS TWICE TELLING ME THE LIGHT IS ON/IT THINKS THE DOOR IS STILL OPEN WHEN IT'S NOT.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND STARTED TO SHAKE. I WAS DRIVING ON A SUBERBAN STREET AND WAS LITERALLY AT A ACTIVE RAILROAD CROSSING WHEN IT HAPPENED. SO I STOPPED THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT SLOWLY TO A SAFE PLACE TO PULLOVER. THE CAR WAS SPITTING OUT FIRE CHUNKS OUT OF THE EXHAUST. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO EXPLAINED THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTIONED WICH CAUSE IT TO MELT/SEIZE THE COILS IN 3 IF THE CYLINDERS. I HAVE A POWER TRAIN WARRANTY BUT WAS TOLD NONE OF IT WOULD BE COVERED? WHEN RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE. ITS NOT ONLY A SAFETY ISSUE, BUT IT'S A KNOWN DEFECT WITH FORD VEHICLES, NOT JUST MY MAKE AND MODEL. I AM EXTREMELY UPSET BCZ I CAN NOT AFFORD THE COSTS IT WILL TAKE TO REPAIR. I OWNED THIS CAR FOR LESS THAN 2 YEARS. I TAKE IT IT AND HAVE IT ROUTINELY SERVICED. THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT THIS. IT'S A DEFECT AND IT IS A UNSAFE DEFECT. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING AND IT JUST HAPPENED OUT OF NOWHERE.
MY VEHICLE HAS 98000 MILES ON IT AND FORD HAS STATED IT NEEDS A ABS CONTROL UNIT THAT'S A COST OF $2000.00. MY BRAKES ARE AWFUL. I PAID FOR A BRAKE BOOSTER & MASTER CYLINDER I DIDN'T NEED. MY LATCH WENT AND THAT COST A LOT OF MONEY LEFT FRONT DOOR NOW MY BACK UP CAMERA DOESN'T WORK. WHAT'S NEXT???
BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL SYMPTOMS DESCRIBED IN PUBLICIZED NOTICES, INCLUDING ON THIS WEBSITE, ARE WHAT I AM CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING ON MY FORD EDGE. CAR TAKES LONGER TO STOP AND BRAKING SYSTEM FEELS SOFT. ADDITIONALLY, THE ADVANCETRAC WARNING SYSTEM LIGHT ILLUMINATES ON OCCASION WHEN CAR IS IN PARK FOR 10-20 MINUTES WITHOUT MOVING, WITH ENGINE RUNNING. PER THE FORD FORUM, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE A SOLUTION FROM FORD. I HAVE LOST CONFIDENCE THE FORD IS INTERESTED OR ABLE TO REMEDY EITHER OF THESE ISSUES. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT NOW THAT BRAKING ISSUE STARTED TODAY.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO COME TO A STOP OR SLOW AT HIGHWAY SPEED OR IN A PARKING LOT THE BRAKE PEDAL LOOSES PRESSURE AND GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT EFFECTIVELY SLOWING OR STOPPING THE VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN VERY CLOSE TO SMASHING OTHER DRIVERS DUE TO THE BRAKE MALFUNCTION. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE SAID HE HAS A FORD CAR THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT WAS RECALLED.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, GOIN 45MPH APPROACHING ACTIVE RAILROAD CROSSING, MY VEHICLE STARTED TO MISFIRE & WENT FROM 40- 20 MPH, LUCKILY I STOPPED BEFORE THE TRACKS BCZ AS SOON AS I DID THE LIGHTS CAME IN FOR A TRAIN. MY CAR COULD HAVE BROKE DOWN ON THE TRACKS IF I DIDN'T STOP. SO WHILE WAITING FOR THE TRAIN TO PASS, I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND BACK ON TO SEE IF IT WAS JUST A RANDOM BUT IT CONTINUED TO MISFIRE AND WHEN IT WAS SAFE FOR ME TO TCROSS THE TRAX, I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT BUT MY VEHICLE WOULD GET TO10MPH. I PULLED OVER & HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE CIOCCA DEALERSHIP, WHICH IT HAS BEEN FOR THE LAST MONTH BEC APPARENTLY THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTIONED AND BURT OUT 3 OUT OF 6 COILS. THE REPAIRS FOR THIS WILL COST ME OVER $4000.00 WHICH IS NOT SOMETHING I CAN AFFORD. I HAVE A "POWER TRAIN" WARRANTY THAT WON'T COVER A FAULTY DEFECTIVE "POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE"?? MATTER OF FACT, IT WON'T COVER ANYTHING AT ALL TO HELP EASE MY COST. AND THE WORST PART, I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 1 1/2 YEARS. NOT EVEN 2 YEARS. THIS CAR WAS A ISSUE FROM THE MOMENT I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT AND NOW SINCE I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR THE DEFECTIVE MODULE....THE DEALERSHIP SAYS TO ME, I SHOULD JUST RECONSIDER THIS CAR ALL TOGETHER BCZ IT NEEDS A LOT DONE FOR INSPECTION THIS MONTH...?? LIKE I OWNED IT FOR NOT EVEN 2 YEARS ..I HAVE 4 MORE YEARS ON A LOAN THAT THEY WON'T PAY OFF SO I CAN BUT ANOTHER CAR? HOW DOES THIS EVEN FALL ON ME WHEN I WAS SOLD PIECE IF JUNK WITH A PRETTY FACE BASICALLY.. I WAS OUT INTO A UNSAFE PREDICAMENT DUE TO A FAULTY DEFECTIVE MODULE THAT MALFUNCTIONED IN THE MIDDLE OF ME DRIVING WITH NO WARNING WHAT SO EVER. FORD AND THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED NOT FROM(NOT THE DEALERSHIP I TOWED IT TO) HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY 110% UNHELPFUL..LIKE THEY WON'T EVEN RETURN MY PHONE CALLS AND WHEN I CALL THEY LEAVE ME ON HOLD FOR HOURS UNTIL I HANG UP AND CALL BACK.
2012 FORD EDGE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ABS SYSTEM FAILURE. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL MODULE, MASTER CYLINDER, AND BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL.*JS
WELL LIKE ANYONE YOU ARE OVERJOYED WHEN YOU PURCHES A CAR OFF THE LOT HOWEVER MINE HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE , I BROUGHT A VEHCLE FOR 5,000 FROM ARGENT MOTORS AND I ONLY BROUGHT THE CAR BECAUSE THE SALESMAN TOLD ME THAT THE WATERPUMP WAS DAMAGED HOWEVER 32 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING THIS CAR LOT MY ENGINE WENT ON MY TRUCK SO MY ENGINE BLEW IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE , I HAD A NEWBORN BABY ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR OVER TWO HOUR ONCE I WAITED FOR THE TOW TRUCK I CALLED THE CAR LOT AND THE OWNER BASICALLY TOLD ME HE'LL SEE ME IN COURT . THEY KNEW THIS TRUCK WASNT DRIVEABLE THEY KNEW IT WAS UNSAFE WHEN I PUT MY CHILDREN IN AND DROVE OFF
