I HAVE EXPERIENCE BRAKE FAILURE 3 TIMES SINCE NOVEMBER 2018. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS REPAIRS SUCH AS BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACEMENT, MASTER CYLANDER, FLUSHES,HCU ASSY REPLACEMENT AND MY BRAKES STILL GO OUT. ALL THE WHILE WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT ANYMORE
BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. HAPPENED IN AN INSTANT. NO LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID, NO EXTERNAL TO ATMOSPHERE FLUID LEAK. TAKEN TO FORD DEALERSHIP. DEALER COULD NOT FIND ISSUE, JUST STARTED REPLACING PARTS. AT FORD DEALER OVER ONE MONTH AND ONE WEEK. COST TO REPAIR OVER $900.00. DEALER COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHAT WENT WRONG. I HAD TO PUSH THE ISSUE HARD WITH THE SVC. MANAGER. FINALLY AFTER 2ND "SPECIAL BRAKE FLUSH" ISSUE WAS CORRECTED! NOW FOR THE SMOKING GUN..DAUGHTER HAS 2019 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN. RECENTLY GETS RECALL FOR BRAKE ISSUE. HONDA MUST BLEED REAR BRAKES. LOOKED UP RECALL. ISSUE WITH "COATING ON REAR INTERNAL DISC BRAKE PARTS CREATES AIR BUBBLES INSIDE SYSTEM CAUSING LOSS OF BRAKE PEDAL". LOOK UP WHO SUPPLIES BRAKES TO FORD AND HONDA (& MANY OTHERS)....COMPANY CALLED AKEBONO SUPPLIES TO MOST OF N.A.! THIS IS ANOTHER "TAKATA" ISSUE BREWING! I SUSPECT FORD IS COVERING UP ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THIS LOSS OF BRAKE ISSUE. AND, THIS LOSS OF BRAKE ISSUE WILL OCCUR ON THOUSANDS IF NOT MILLIONS OF OTHER VEHICLES, ITS JUST A MATTER OF TIME!
WHEN THE BRAKE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGED, SEVERAL MINUTES LATER THE BAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE BAKES FAILED.
HEATING PROBLEM, HEAT ON DRIVER SIDE IN CAR THE PASS. SIDE BLOWING OUT COLD AIR.
VEHICLE DISPLAYS A WARNING "VEHICLE COOLANT OVER TEMPERATURE" THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN INSPECTED TWICE AND THE TECHNICIANS CLAIMED NOT TO HAVE BEEN ABLE REPRODUCE THE ERROR AND ALSO CLAIMED THAT THE COMPUTER WAS NOT "SPITTING" OUT ANY ERRORS. THE MESSAGE DISPLAYS WITHIN THE FIRST FILE MILES AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN STATIONARY FOR MORE THAN 2 HOURS AND IT IS DISPLAYED FOR 10-20 SECONDS.
1. WHEN VEHICLE PLACED IN PARK, P INDICATOR DOES NOT ILLUMINATE AND WHEN DOOR IS OPENED AN AUDIBLE ALARM IS SOUNDED AND A VISISBLE ALARM COMES UP ON THE GUAGES SAYING TO PLACE VEHICLE IN PARK. 2. WHEN PUTTING VEHICLE IN REVERSE, SONY DISPLAY GOES BLACKS AND DISPLAYS AN ERROR MESSAGE STATING THAT THE BACK UP CAMERA NEEDS TO BE INSPECTED. 3. DRIVER SIDE SEATBELT IS SLOW TO RETRACT. RECENTLY PURCHASED VEHICLE WITHIN LAST 6 MONTHS AND NOTICED SOME OF THESE ARE COMMON PROBLEMS THROUGHOUT THE FORD EDGE COMMUNITY.
FORD EDGE 'DOOR AJAR' INDICATOR STAYS ON DESPITE DOOR BEING CLOSED. THIS HAS THE EFFECT OF BEING UNABLE TO LOCK DOORS EVEN WHEN DRIVING. THIS HAS BEEN CONSTANT AND UNRELENTING PROBLEM FOR APPROX 1 YEAR.
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SENSOR. VEHICLE WARNING LIGHT DAYS DRIVER'S DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY CLOSED. PROBLEM PREVENTS AUTO DOOR LOCKS TO ENGAGE AND KEEPS INTERIOR LIGHTS ON WHEN DOOR IS LOCKED AND IGNITION IS OFF CAUSING BATTERY DRAIN.
8-11-2016 COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE WHILE IN MOTION, BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS TO FLOOR WITH NO POWER ASSIST. DEALER DIAGNOSES AND REPLACES BRAKE BOOSTER. 9-24-2018 COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE UNABLE TO STOP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. MANAGED TO GET TO SAFETY. PEDAL TRAVELS TO FLOOR NO STOPPING. CALLED DEALER ONCE MORE, WAS ADVISED TO CONTACT FORD FOR COVERAGE OF WORK AS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. DO NOT WANT THIS VEHICLE WITH 2 BRAKE FAILURE EVENTS. PENDING SERVICE CASE.
FILED DOOR AJAR COMPLAINT WITH NHTS SEPTEMBER 24, 2014 #10638797. HAD PROBLEM REPAIRED MARCH 15, 2015. COST $245.93. SAME ISSUE OCCURING AGAIN. THIS TIME THE DOOR AJAR WARNING WILL NOT GO OFF UNLESS THE CAR IS IN GEAR AND WE OPEN THE DOOR AND CLOSE IT. NOT SAFE TO BE TRAVELING AND OPENING AND CLOSING A DOOR TO GET DOOR AJAR WARNING TO TURN OFF.
THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH WARNING LIGHT COME ON THE DASH WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DOOR AND WILL NOT GO OFF. UNTIL SEVERAL CLOSING ATTEMPS AND IT IS VERY ANNOYING BECAUSE THE OVERHEAD COURTESY LIGHTS AND THE WARNING CHIME CONTINUES EVERY FEW SECONDS.I FOUND THAT THIS PROBLEM IS CONTAGIOUS WITH THIS MAKE AND YEAR FORD. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS DEFECT AS MUCH AS I PAID FOR THE CAR I DON'T NEED THIS ADDED COST ($260) FOR REPAIR. THIS HAS BE HAPPENING FREQUENTLY FOR ABOUT NINE MONTHS. I HAVE BOUGHT SEVERAL FORD VEHICLES OVER THE YEARS AND THIS ONE IS A BUMMER. I HOPE THEY RECALL THIS ONE BEFORE I TRADE IT IN ON CHEVY.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR MAKING THE VEHICLE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE BRAKES AND MASTER CYLINDER HOWEVER THAT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM OF NO BRAKE PEDAL. I THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FORD WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THEY HAVE SEEN A RASH OF THIS PROBLEM, AND ADVISED THAT IT IS MOST LIKELY THE ABS CONTROL MODULE. THE VEHICLE IS AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP AS I TYPE. THIS IS THE SECOND ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE, THE FIRST WAS A BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE THAT MADE THE BRAKE PEDAL VERY HARD TO PUSH.
ON 9/18/18 WHILE TRAVELING HOME FROM DOING SOME ERRANDS WENT TO APPLY BRAKES TO SLOW AND TURN AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, PUMPED THEM A FEW TIMES TO STOP AND SINCE THEY HAVE PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE TO A POINT OUR MECHANIC SUGGESTED NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH IT LOOKS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE EDGE! IS FORD GOING TO STEP UP?? SOUNDS LIKE A COSTLY ADVENTURE. FORD NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!! REACHED OUT TO FORD FOR RECALL INFO. AND THERE HAPPENS TO NONE FOR MY VEHICLE. THEY SUGGESTED TO BRING TO A FORD DEALER MECHANIC AND AFTER DIAGNOSIS MAYBE FORD WILL HELP EASE THE FINANCIAL PAIN. MAYBE! UNFORTUNATELY FORD MECHANICS ARE MORE THAN DOUBLE THE COST OF OUR MORE THAN CAPABLE MECHANIC. FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL EDGE OWNERS PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL.
BRAKE BOOSTER WENT OUT, DOOR AJAR KEEPS COMING AND LEAVES MY INTERIOR LIGHTS ON DRAING BATTERY
I HAVE HAD MY POWER STEERING FAIL 4 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. MOST RECENTLY, I HAD THE WHOLE SYSTEM REPLACED WHILE OUT OF STATE ON VACATION. THE VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
IN AUGUST 2018, I APPLIED THE BRAKES ON MY 2012 FORD EDGE AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE AND TOOK IT FOR DIAGNOSTIC; ABS SENSOR WAS TRIPPED, BUT ONCE RESET ALL APPEARED TO WORK FINE. WAS NOT SURE WHAT PROBLEM WAS AND SINCE COULD NOT REPLICATE, IT WAS NOT CLEAR WHAT WE SHOULD DO TO FIX PROBLEM. IT HAS NOW HAPPENED AGAIN. I HAD NO BRAKE PRESSURE, BUT COULD HEAR A WHISTLE SOUND WHEN RELEASING THE BRAKE. I HAD THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED. HOWEVER, ON TEST DRIVE DURING HARD BRAKING THE PEDAL AGAIN WENT TO FLOOR, WHISTLING STOPPED. IT APPEARS THE PROBLEM IS IN THE ABS SYSTEM. THE COST TO REPLACE ELECTRONIC AND HYDRAULIC ABS IS OVER $1100. AFTER ONLINE RESEARCH, I CAN SEE THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD EDGES -- CLEARLY TOO COMMON.
3 TIMES BRAKES WERE SOFT AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO FLOOR WHEN TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD. CAR WAS SLOW TO STOP!!! TAKING A LONG TIME, STANDING UP ON BRAKES. AFTER PUMPING THEM SEVERAL TIMES STILL PEDAL GOING TO FLOOR. VERY DANGEROUS. NOW, VERY LITTLE BRAKES AT ALL. EVEN SITTING STILL, BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR. ONLINE REVIEWS, MANY FORD EDGE VEHICLES WITH SAME MANUFACTURE PROBLEM. I'LL BE TAKING CAR TO MECHANIC BECAUSE I NEED TRANSPORTATION.
LEFT REAR PASSENGER DOOR IS AJAR. DRIVERS DOOR IS AJAR. LIGHTS WON'T GO OFF BECAUSE THE SENSORS SAY THE DOORS ARE OPEN. I BELIEVE THEY ARE SHUT. THIS HAS KILLED MY BATTERY. IT HAPPENS FREQUENTLY CAUSING STRESS NOT KNOWING IF MY CAR IS GOING TO START IN THE MORNING
WHEN DRIVING MY 2012 FORD EDGE I EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES AT LOW SPEEDS. WHEN I WAS PARKING OR TRYING TO STOP FOR A STOP LIGHT, THE BRAKES WOULD BECOME ROCK HARD AND I WOULD HAVE TO PUSH AS HARD AS I COULD AND HOPE IT WOULD STOP. IT WAS A VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE AND A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE. ON ONE OCCASION I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP AND ROLLED INTO THE ROAD. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR LESS THAN 48 HOURS BEFORE. I WAS INFORMED IT WAS DUE TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER BEING BAD. FORD IS REPAIRING THIS.
THE BRAKE BOOSTER WENT BAD AND THE FORD DEALER NOTED THIS WAS NO LONGER COVERED EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A FIELD SERVICE ISSUE NOTED. CAR IS UNDER 133000, POWER IN BRAKES JUST WENT AWAY AND BRAKES WERE SPONGY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK, IT MOVED FORWARD AND STRUCK A TREE WITHOUT WARNING. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A BODY SHOP AND DEEMED OPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 88,000.
THE ORIGINAL POWER BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND WAS REPLACED. THE SECOND POWER BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND ANOTHER ONE WAS REPLACED. THE FORD DEALERSHIP DID NOT WANT TO RECOGNIZE THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS PART AGAIN AND PASSED IT OFF AS SOMETHING ELSE (REAR CALIPER) CAUSING THE BRAKES TO LOOSE PRESSURE. I HOPE A REVIEW OF THESE PARTS WILL BE MADE FOR OTHER DRIVER'S SAFETY. SEE ATTACHMENTS.
I HAVE A 2012 FORD EDGE THAT HAS HAD MAJOR BRAKE FAILURE HAPPEN. OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS WHILE BRAKING FOR A STOP LIGHT THE BRAKE PEDAL DROPS TO THE FLOOR, AND BARELY AVOIDED REAR ENDING THE CAR IN FRONT, AND THEN SEEMINGLY WORKS FINE AGAIN AFTERWARDS, MAKING ME QUESTION MYSELF AS TO HOW BIG OF AN ISSUE IT HAD. YESTERDAY IT COMPLETELY FAILED AND TURNING OFF INTERSTATE AT AN OFF RAMP (GOING 70MPH!) I NEARLY REAR ENDED THE SEMI IN FRONT OF US AT THE STOP SIGN!! MY 8 MONTH PREGNANT WIFE WAS IN THE FRONT SEAT WITH ME AND MY TWO DOGS IN THE BACK SEAT! WE WERE WITHIN INCHES OF THE SEMI BUMPER DECAPITATING US! I VERY SLOWLY MADE IT TO A PARKING LOT ACROSS THE STREET WITH USE OF PARKING BRAKE, AND HAD THE CAR TOWED HOME. ONCE HOME IN MY DROVEWAY THE BRAKES SEEM TO WORK. SO I SEARCH THE WEB TO HAVE AN IDEA IF THIS IS A VEHICLE SPECIFIC PROBLEM BEFORE GOING TO MECHANIC..WHOAH! THERE ARE MORE COMPLAINTS IDENTICAL TO MINE THAN I CAN COUNT! FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS LIFE THREATENING DEFECT. I HAVE READ CONSTANTLY IT IS THE BRAKE BOOSTER OR MASTER CYLINDER, BUT THAT REPLACING WITH NEW FORD OEM PART ONLY GIVES THEM A FEW MONTHS OR YEARS BEFORE IT TOO FAILS! I CANNOT GAMBLE MY FAMILY'S LIVES ON A DEFECTIVE FORD PART. I HAVE FORD VEHICLES FROM THE 80S AND NONE HAVE EVER HAD CATASTROPHIC BRAKE FAILURES WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS CERTAINLY A MODEL SPECIFIC DEFECT AND NEEDS TO BE REMEDIED. I AM RELUCTANT TO TRADE OFF THE VEHICLE AFTER I HAVE IT REPAIRED AND PASS THE PROBLEM ON TO SOMEONE ELSES FAMILY, BUT I DON'T WANT TO REPAIR IT, AND HAVE MY FAMILY RELYING ON A TICKING TIME BOMB FOR THE NEXT TIME IT FAILS TO STOP. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR FORD TO HAVE A FLEET OF EDGES ON THE ROAD ALL WAITING TO ENDANGER INNOCENT LIVES WHEN THEY SMASH INTO A CAR, BUILDING, OR CEMENT BARRIER. PLEASE FORCE FORD TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE, RECALL EVERY CAR WITH THE DEFECT, AND SAVE LIVES.
ISSUES WITH FUEL NECK FILLER. CODE P0456. AFTER FILLING UP UNLEADED GAS IN THE CAPLESS GAS TANK, THE VEHICLE STALLS UPON STARTING IGNITION. THIS IS NOW A CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. AIR MAY BE FILLING UP IN THE GAS TANK. IN 2014, 2012-13 FORD EDGES WERE RECALLED FOR FUEL LEAKS. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL UNDER THAT RECALL, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS MANUFACTURED DURING THE SAME YEARS.
BRAKE BOOSTER HAS GONE OUT THREE TIMES RESULTING IN LOSS OF STOPPING POWER. PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR AND VEHICLE DOES NOT STOP PROPERLY. FORD HAS 13N02 CAMPAIGN, BUT IT ONLY COVERS IT ONE TIME. SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THE NHTSA MUST GET INVOLVED.
BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. MY SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. THEY FAILED WHEN I WAS ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN FOR AN UPCOMING STOP SIGN. THANKFULLY, NO VEHICLES WERE COMING THE OTHER WAY. THE ODOMETER WAS ~48,600. I WAS NOT TOLD OF ANY EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE POWER BOOSTER WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP IN ERIE PA IN 2015. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY MECHANIC. THEY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS A FAILURE OF THE POWER BOOSTER. HE REPLACED WITH AN AFTER FACTORY PART AS I WAS RELUCTANT TO REPLACE WITH A FORD PART DUE TO ISSUE CAUSED BY A FAULTY FORD PART. IT COST ME $406.34 TOTAL INCLUDING LABOR AND THE PART, NO TOWING CHARGE AS I USED MY AAA MEMBERSHIP. A FEW WEEKS LATER I MENTIONED THE PROBLEM TO A MALE FRIEND WHO SUGGESTED I CHECK THE FORD WEBSITE WHICH I DID. I DISCOVERED THIS PART WAS KNOWN TO BE FAULTY AND THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON IT. I THEN CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT FROM, THEY SAID I'D HAVE TO CONTACT CORP. FORD. I DID AND GOT THE RUN AROUND BETWEEN CORPORATE AND LOCAL DEALERSHIP DESPITE HAVING PROVIDED A LOT OF DOCUMENTATION. NO ONE WANTED TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THIS PROBLEM. I PROVED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP NEVER MADE ME AWARE OF EXTENDED WARRANTY EITHER AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE OR LATER. THE ORIGINAL SALESPERSON NO LONGER WORKED THERE. HAD I BEEN INFORMED BY FORD OF THIS PROBLEM, I WOULD HAVE THEN KNOWN TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT HAPPENED INSTEAD OF MY LOCAL MECHANIC. THERE WAS NO REASON WHY FORD COULDN'T HAVE SUPPLIED THIS TO ME EXCEPT FOR EMPLOYEE FAILURE. THE CAR WAS A FORD, ITS VIN IN FORD'S SYSTEM AND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS ISSUES BEFORE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE... *TR
DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS FAILING. DOOR AJAR MESSAGE STAYS ON WITH DOOR CLOSED (DRIVER'S) MAKING DRIVING VERY DIFFICULT WITH CONSTANT WARNING BEEPS AND DOME LIGHT ON (EVEN AT NIGHT). I HAVE TO OPEN AND SHUT THE DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES VERY HARD FOR IT TO GO AWAY. MANY MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE, AND APPARENTLY IT PROGRESSIVELY GETS WORSE UNTIL THEY HAVE CONSTANT BEEPING WARNING, DOME LIGHT ON WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, DOORS THAT WON'T LOCK WHILE DRIVING AND THE CONSTANT RISK OF A DEAD BATTERY AFTER RETURNING TO THEIR PARKED VEHICLE. I'VE ALREADY HAD TO BUY A NEW BATTERY DUE TO THE DOME LIGHT STAYING ON AFTER PARKING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND DESERVES A RECALL. THE CURRENT FIX APPARENTLY REQUIRES REPLACING THE ENTIRE LATCH FOR AROUND $400, EVERY TWO YEARS ON AVERAGE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS.
RETENTION CIRCLIP CAUSING LOSS OF POWER 2.0L ECOBOOST ENGINE
WHILE DRIVING I LOSE POWER AND CAN NO LONGER ACCELERATE. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE HALFSHAFT RETENTION CIRCLIP MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY INSTALLED. AS A RESULT THE HALFSHAFT MAY MOVE OUTWARD AND DISENGAGE FROM THE LINKSHAFT WHILE DRIVING AND WITHOUT WARNING. IF THIS OCCURS, POWER WILL NO LONGER BE TRANSMITTED TO THE WHEELS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON AFTER CAR DOOR IS SHUT WHICH IN TURN LEAVES YOUR DOME LIGHTS ON WHICH IN TURN WILL RUN YOUR BATTERY DEAD. DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AND THAT'S A SAFETY HAZARD IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN IN THE BACKSEAT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONE SIDE OF THE BRAKE CALIBER EMITTED MORE PRESSURE THAN THE OTHER, WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS TO WEAR OVER TIME. THE CONTACT PREVIOUSLY REPLACED THE SAME PARTS TWICE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRS IN THE PAST. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE RECENT FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
FROM JUNE 2018 TO JUNE 2019 I HAVE INVESTED OVER $4000 IN PRIMARILY THE BRAKING SYTEM OF MY CAR. I CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES WHEN AFTER FILLING MY GAS TANK THE CAR HESITATES IN STARTING. I HAVE REPLACED EVERYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE BREAKING SYSTEM FROM BRAKE PADS TO HCU SYSTEM TO THE ABS SYSTEM. EVEN THE NEW PARTS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE FAULTY.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. IT DRAINS THE BATTERY.
MALFUNCTIONING DOOR AJAR SENSOR STAYS REMAINS WHEN DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED. CAN DRAIN THE BATTERY. HAD THE SENSOR IN DRIVER'S DOOR REPLACE WHILE UNDER MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. THE REPLACEMENT SENSOR IS NOW MALFUNCTIONING AND THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY.
DOOR AJAR ISSUE. DOOR IS LATCHED PROPERLY, BUT THE SENSOR IS FAULTY.
ALL DOORS LEAKING AT THE DOOR SEAL RETAINERS AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REPAIR DUE TO POOR DESIGNED FLAW! ALL FORD CARS HAVING WATER CONDITIONS AND STILL ALLOWED TO SELL THIS DEFECTIVE CARS ! I AM A MASTER MECHANIC AND DIAGNOSED IT MY SELF ! THIS IS STRICTLY A FORD QUALITY ISSUE FOR ALL FORD EDGES OF ALL YEARS AND MOST LIKELY ALL THERE CARS HAVE A WATER ISSUE . THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AJAR IS CONSTANTLY ON. I HAVE OPENED AND SHUT THE DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES AND EVEN TRIED TO DO WHAT SOME YOUTUBE VIDEOS HAVE SHOWN. DOME LIGHT SOMETIMES STAYS ON AFTER I PARK, SOMETIMES GOES OFF. I WILL HAVE A DEAD BATTERY AND PROBABLY ADDITIONAL COSTS UNLESS I WANT TO PAY $400+ TO FORD TO FIX THIS KNOWN ISSUE.
ON MONDAY 5/14/18 NOTICE MY FORD EDGE 2012 BRAKE DON'T STOP THE SUV WILL THE PEDAL GO ALL AWAY DOWN I THINK NEED NEW SET OF BRAKE TAKE TO MECHANIC AND INSTALLED THE NEW BRAKES FRONT AND BACK TUESDAY 5/15/18 MY WIFE AFTER DRIVING TO PICK UP MY SON IN THE SCHOOL HAPPENED AGAIN THE SUV DON'T STOP FOR ANYTHING MY WIFE HAVE TO MANEUVER THE SUV TO THE SIDE AND HIT THE CONCRETE COLUMN TO PREVENT CAR ACCIDENT .ON NEW JERSEY AND THE OTHER ISSUE IS FOR MORE THEN 2 MOTHS CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS APPEAR IN DASH TAKE TO MECHANIC MORE THEN 5 TIME IS SOMETHING WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM NO ONE NO WHICH THE PROBLEM FORD EDGE FROM 2010 TO 2013 HAVE SOME MANY RECALL WITH THE BRAKES AND FUEL SYSTEM AND FORD DEALERS DON'T WANT TO FIX THIS RECALL ISSUE WATH FORD WAITING TO PEOPLES LOST LIVES TO RESOLVE THIS RECALLS .
ON TWO OCCASIONS IN THE LAST FOUR MONTHS MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE EDGE AND WHEN SHE PUSH DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IT WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BOARD. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED SHE PUMPED THE BRAKES BUT STILL DID NOT HAVE BRAKES. MY MECHANIC IS GUESSING IT'S THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SO WE ARE HAVING IT REPLACED.
THE PASSENGER REAR LEFT DOOR OPEN INDICATOR WILL NOT GO OFF THUS KEEPING MY DOME LIGHT ON AND DRAINING MY BATTERY NOT TO MENTION DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
WHEN YOU START YOUR CAR. A MESSAGE COMES ON THAT DOORS ARE NOT CLOSED. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY EVERY TIME YOU DRIVE THE CAR. YOU CAN OPEN AND SHUT YOUR DOORS. ALL THE TIME. THE CAR ALSO RANDOMLY HONKS THE HORN AND THE LIGHTS ALL FLASH. WE HAVE CHANGED THE BATTERIES IN THE REMOTES AND IT STILL HAPPENS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR WHILE.
THERE HAS BEEN A SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED FOR A 'DOOR AJAR' WARNING WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED CAUSED BY THE FAILURE OF THE DRIVERS DOOR LATCH. THIS DOES NOT GO OUT WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. THIS RESULTS IN THE DOME LIGHT STAYING ON AND DRAINING THE BATTERY. NOT REPAIRING COULD RESULT IN THE INABILITY TO LOCK THE VEHICLE ELECTRONICALLY. THE FAILURE USUALLY OCCURS AFTER 50K MILES, LEAVING THE OWNER TO PAY FOR A COMMON AND EXPENSIVE PART FAILURE. I
THE DOOR SENSOR WILL NOT GO OFF EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT. I HAVE A 2012 FORD EDGE. KEEPS SAYING DOOR AJAR WHEN IT IS CLOSED.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL STAY ON EVEN WHEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IS CLOSED. IT TAKES MULTIPLE TIMES OF SHUTTING OR SLAMMING THE DOOR TO TURN OFF. WHEN I DRIVE WITH THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STILL ON, THE DOORS WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK, WHICH IS UNSAFE. ABOUT 10 INSTANCES WITHIN THE PAST TWO MONTHS, THE CAR ALARM WENT OFF FOR NO REASON, BOTH DAY AND NIGHT IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. IF THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN, IT CAN RUN THE BATTERY DOWN. I GOT A DIAGNOSTICS TEST PERFORMED ON THE CAR FOR $95 AND IT IS A FAULTY LATCH IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THE FORD DEALERSHIP ESTIMATED IT WOULD COST $510 + TAX.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,500.
CHECK FUEL FILL INLET MESSAGE KEEP POPPING UP ON MY DASHBOARD, AND MY CAR PUTTERS WHEN I ACCELERATE. IT'S SO BAD I DON'T FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE ON HIGHWAYS.
IN A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH A TELEPHONE POLE, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE ELECTRICAL WOULD JUST SHUT DOWN. BRAKES WERE ACTING STRANGE. ALL WHILE MOVING.
THE WHEEL BEARING CAN BE HEARD HUMMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WHEEL. A PREVIOUS BEARING HAS BEEN REPLACED ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE FOR THE SAME REASON. THE BEARING IS WEARING OUT AND RUBBING, CREATING EXCESSIVE FRICTION.
DOOR LATCH SENSOR MALFUNCTIONING. THE DOOR WILL NOT SHUT OFF THE DOOR AJAR WARNING WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. TWO DOORS HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED THROUGH OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, BOTH DRIVER SIDE DOORS, AND NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR IS BEGINNING TO DO THE SAME THING.
