THE VEHICLE REPORTS THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS AJAR WHEN IT IS SECURELY CLOSED. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. IT ALSO OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS NOT YET STARTED. THIS RESULTS IN AUDIO AND VISUAL ALARMS WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING, AND INTERIOR LIGHTING WHICH REMAINS ON FOR LONG PERIODS WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET & HAD TO APPLY HARD BRAKING. NOW THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR & THE CAR DOES NOT STOP PROPERLY.
AFTER RESEARCHING FORD EDGE RESEARCH THERE WERE SO MANY COMPLAINTS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME THING OCCUR TO THEM. MY CAR WILL START AND BE DRIVING THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR LITERALLY LOOSES ALL POWER AND THE CAR SHUTS DOWN. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE AND IT APPEARS THAT FORD DOESN'T WANT TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS. PEOPLE'S LIVES ARE IN DANGER, THERE IS NO WARNING OF WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN AND THEN YOU STUCK SITTING ON THE ROAD WHILE IN DRIVE AS YOUR CAR LOST POWER.
DRIVER DOOR NOT SHUT ALERT CONTINUALLY COMES ON AND LEAVES CAR INTERIOR LIGHTS ON. THIS HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS. THE DOOR IS LATCHING FINE. THE SENSOR IS FAULTY.
COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. SOFT PEDAL. THANK GOODNESS I ALWAYS LEAVE LOTS OF ROOM WHEN IN TRAFFIC. PRESSED ON BRAKES. NOTHING. QUICKLY PRESSED AGAIN. NOTHING. QUICKLY PRESSED AGAIN. STOOD ON BRAKES. :FINALLY STOPPED. SCARED THE DAYLIGHTS OUT OF ME. WAS SOLE PASSENGER, THANK GOODNESS, AS USUALLY HAVE PASSENGERS WITH ME. HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES THIS WEEK AND A FEW OTHER TIMES OVER THE PAST MONTH. THOUGHT I JUST NEEDED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY MECHANIC TO BLEED THE BRAKES OR CHECK THE MASTER CYLINDER. STARTED AT AROUND 70,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. AM TAKING CAR TO MY MECHANIC BUT AM READING THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2012 FORD EDGES. WHY ISN'T THERE AR ECAL WHEN THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE! IT'S NOT A MATTER OF IF, BUT WHEN, THIS WILL BE A SERIOUS MULTI-CASUALTY ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. DO PEOPLE NEED TO DIE/BECOME VEGETABLES BEFORE ANYTHING WILL BE DONE SO THAT FORD TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR MECHANICAL/DESIGN FLAWS THAT CAN DESTROY LIVES AND PROPERTY???????
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND APPROACHING A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT THE VEHICLE STALLS AND LOSSES ALL POWER, NO STEERING, BRAKES ARE HARD TO APPLY. THIS IS EXTREMELY SCARY IN TRAFFIC
DOOR LATCH FAILURE. INITIALLY THE DOOR WILL INTERMITTENTLY NOT CLOSE WHILE PARKED (WOULD REBOUND OPEN WHEN PUSHED SHUT). NOW WHILE DRIVING THE DOOR WILL UNLATCH AND FULLY OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. FIRST IT HAPPENED WHEN TURNING A CORNER FROM A STOPPED POSITION. SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A CITY STREET AT APPROX 30 MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. TOWN AND COUNTRY FORD NASHVILLE (101 ANDERSON LN, MADISON, TN) WAS CONTACTED AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE TURBO BYPASS SOLENOID WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER TWICE WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT TWO MORE SOLENOIDS WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE TURBO ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
AFTER PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC ON 1/15/18, GOING ABOUT 50 MPH, MY 2012 FORD EDGE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT APPEARED. I HAD TO SHUT THE CAR DOWN AND RESTART IT SEVERAL TIMES TO SLOWLY GET IT OUT OF TRAFFIC - EACH TIME THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT APPEARED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. FINALLY, AFTER GETTING OUT OF TRAFFIC I SHUT IT DOWN AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES, RESTARTED IT AND THIS TIME THE AWD WARNING LIGHT APPEARED BUT MY CAR IS NOT AN AWD VEHICLE. THEN THE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED AGAIN. HAD IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY COMPUTER MEMORY RECORD OF WHAT HAPPENED AND HAD THEIR TECHNICIAN DRIVE IT HOME TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM DUPLICATED ITSELF. IT DID NOT. AFTER 3 DAYS AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND I PICKED IT UP AND DROVE IT HOME. I SHOULD ADD THAT MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY 26,000 MILES ON IT. IN READING THESE COMPLAINTS MINE IS NOT THE ONLY COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND FORD NEEDS TO FIGURE OUT AND REPAIR THOSE VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE!
I STARTED MY 2012 EDGE AND HEARD THE STARTER TAKE LONGER TO TURN OVER AND START THE CAR. WITHIN MOMENTS THE CHECK ENGINE ICON APPEARED. I TOOK MY EDGE IN TO AUTO HOBBY SHOP LOCATED ON A MILITARY INSTALLATION. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE USED HIS CODE READER MACHINE TO VIEW CODE P0456. WHICH HE SAID IT INDICATED A MINOR FUEL LEAK. HE PERFORMED A SMOKE CHECK SAID HE NOTICED SMOKE LEAKING. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IF THERE WERE ANY FUEL SYSTEM RECALLS. THEY SAID THERE WAS, BUT NOT FOR MY VIN. OF THE 3 RECALLS OUT FOR A 20012 EDGE, I ONLY RECIEVED ONE. ARE RECALLS ONLY FOR SPECIFIC YEARS/MODELS/VIN'S? HOW CAN I GET MY ISSUE REPAIRED? COULD MY VIN BE ADDED TO THE RECALL IF I HAD A RELATING ISSUE?
DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY, ALTHOUGH DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT, DOOR AJAR ALERT STAYS ON, WHICH CAUSES ALL THE LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON AND IT DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO LOCK YOUR DOORS, WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOU HAVE CHILDREN WHO COULD POTENTIALLY OPEN THE DOOR WHILE IN MOTION. SOME LIGHTS REMAIN ON AFTER DOOR IS CLOSED WHICH CAN DRAIN BATTERY. ISSUE OCCURS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION
I JUST BOUGHT THIS 2012 FORD EDGE. IT WORKED FINE AT THE DEALER. NOW AFTER II GET IT HOME, THE LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF AND THE CAR BATTERY DIED. I THOUGHT IT WAS AN OLD BATTERY. BOUGHT A NEW ONE. THEN I NOTICED THE DOOR LIGHT WOULDN'T GO OFF. NOW I HAVE A CAR I PAID 140000 FOR AND I CAN'T DRIVE IT BECAUSE THE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF WHICH DRAINS THE BATTERY. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR FORDS. I AM AMAZED IT IS NOT. WE NEED SOMETHING DONE TO FIX THIS SO WE CAN DRIVE THE CAR. I DO NOT HAVE AN EXTRA 650.00 TO FIX IT TEMPORARILY.
I WAS ON THE FREEWAY WITH THE PANORAMIC VISTA SCREEN HALF OPEN, WHEN THE PLASTIC CLIPS BROKE(PARTS THAT MOVE THE SCREEN OPEN/CLOSE) THE VISTA SCREEN SLAMMED BACK AS FAR AS IT COULD GO, FOR A SECOND I THOUGHT THE ENTIRE GLASS HAD BROKEN AND I WAS IN FOR A WORLD OF HURT! THIS COULD CAUSE AN EXTREME SAFETY RISK IF THE GLASS HAD SHATTERED.
BACKUP CAMERA IS UPSIDE DOWN. LESS THAN 92000 MILES HAPPEN ONLY WHEN IS REVERSE. WHEN SHIFTED INTO DRIVE PICTURE REMAINS AND TAKE SEVERAL MIN. TO RETURN TO NORMAL. WHILE WAITING TO RETURN TO NORMAL FUNCTIONS NO FUNCTIONS ARE ABLE TO BE USED.
CAR HAS BEEN HAVING ELECTRIC ISSUES FOR A WHILE. USUALLY DETECTED ONCE TRYING TO START. FIRST ISSUE IS THE BACK UP CAMERA. THAT NO LONGER WORKS WHILE IN REVERSE. SCREEN INDICATED IT IS NOT AVAILABLE. WE ALSO RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE THE SHIFTING COLUMN. AFTER A TRIP OF DRIVING COMING TO A FULL STOP SHIFTING TO PARK THE CAR WOULD NOT STAY ON "PARK". IT WOULD NOT CATCH THE GEAR UNLESS THE BUTTON ON THE SHIFT COLUMN WAS TOYED WITH A FEW TIMES PRESSING ON THE BUTTON SO CAR RECOGNIZES "PARK". IT WOULD SEARCH FOR "PARK" WHEN CAR WAS OFF WHICH WOULD CAUSE THE BATTERY TO EVENTUALLY DIE. WE FIRST PURCHASED A BATTERY THINKING IT'S TIME TO REPLACE BUT ONCE WE DID, IT KILLED OUR BATTERY AGAIN AND THEN IS WHEN I KNEW I HAD TO TAKE IT INTO FORD. $700+ TO FIX ISSUE CURRENTLY NOT RECALLED. THIS ALSO FORCED US TO BUY JUMP STARTING CABLES BEFORE IT WAS TAKEN IN. CAR LEFT US STRANDED A FEW TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS. DEAD BATTERY:( THIRD ELECTRIC ISSUE IS THAT THE BLUETOOTH SYSTEM DOESN'T ALWAYS CATCH A DEVICE. OFTEN THE SYNC SCREEN ON THE DISPLAY WILL PULL UP WITH A LOADING BAR. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY WHEN STARTING CAR AT TIMES WHILE IN PART.
THE 2010-2013 FORD EDGE HAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER, HOWEVER, AFTER TWO REPLACEMENTS OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER ALONE, I AM CONTINUING TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKES. THE TIME FOR MY VEHICLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP HAS TRIPLED, IF NOT MORE. I HAD THE INITIAL REPLACEMENT DONE AT APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES AND AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AT 82,000. THE BRAKES FEEL SPONGY AND WHILE THEY DO NOT COMPLETELY FAIL, THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND STOPPING TIME IS SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASED. THIS HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS IN ALL CONDITIONS.
THE WARNING 'DRIVER DOOR IS AJAR' IS DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. THE WARNING IS DISPLAYED ONCE THE CAR IS STARTED AND WILL REMAIN ON WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. THE NEXT TIME THE CAR IS STARTED, THE WARNING MAY OR MAY NOT DISPLAY BUT IT DOES NOT CHANGE WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. I WOULD ESTIMATE THAT THE WARNING IS DISPLAYED ABOUT 1/2 OF THE TIME THE CAR IS STARTED. IF THE WARNING IS DISPLAYED, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON FOR AN EXTENDED AMOUNT OF TIME AND THE DOORS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK. ONCE THE CAR IS TURNED OFF, THE DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED BY PRESSING THE RIGHT MOST TWO BUTTONS OF THE DOOR COMBINATION LOCK PANEL AND THE LIGHTS UNDER THE MIRRORS REMAIN LIT FOR AN EXTENDED AMOUNT OF TIME. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE IMPACTED BY TEMPERATURE.
BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH MINIMAL ABILITY TO STOP. CONTACTED ANDY MOHR FORD. NO ISSUE FOUND. REPLACED ALL BREAKS AND ROTORS. ON JULY 1ST 2018 BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR AGAIN. ANDY MOHR FORD REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER. JULY 23 2018 BRAKES FAILED AGAIN. BIG BIG BIG SAFETY ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 FORD EDGE LIMITED WITH LESS THAN 60000 MILES THE VEHICLE JUST DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, NO STEERING, NO POWER NOTHING. THE PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED CLOSE TO 15 TIMES.
BRAKE PEDAL IS GETTING VERY HARD WHEN DRIVING
THE DOOR LATCH IS FAULTY. IT IS TELLING ME THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR WHEN IT IS CLOSED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON WHICH WILL CAUSE THE BATTERY TO DIE.
VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPS GOING, NO ACCELERATION. HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING, FORCING YOU TO GET OFF THE ROAD. MUST SHUT OFF VEHICLE AND RESTART. CREATES A VERY HAZARDOUS SITUATION WHERE YOU CAN BE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 65 MPH & SUDDENLY HAVE NO POWER! ENGINE IS RUNNING BUT THERE'S NO ACCELERATION WHATSOEVER. MY WARRANTY JUST RAN OUT & I HAVE LESS THAN 36000.0 MILES ON THIS CAR! ONLY HAPPENS WHEN YOU'RE TRAVELING WHICH MEANS YOU HAVE NO WAY OF PREPARING & PUTS YOUR LIFE IN JEOPARDY.
2012 FORD EDGE RAPIDLY LOSES ACCELERATION AND COMES TO A STOP. THE ENGINE REMAINS RUNNING, BUT THE ACCELERATOR WILL NOT INCREASE SPEED. IT CAUSES A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AS THE CAR WILL GO FROM 60 TO ZERO IN SECONDS. DRIVER MUST FIND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER, (SOMETIMES IMPOSSIBLE) TO STOP ENGINE AND RESTART TO CONTINUE ON. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. REPAIR AT FORD SAYS THROTTLE BODY IS THE PROBLEM AND IT IS HAPPENING ON 2011-2105 FORDS. FORD DOES NOT CARE AND WILL NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR IF YOU ARE OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. VERY DANGEROUS.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. THE ISSUE IS CAUSING LIGHTS TO STAY ON AND DRAINING BATTERY. ALARM SYSTEM CANNOT BE ACTIVATED BECAUSE IT WILL GO OFF UNEXPECTEDLY IF IT SENSES THAT THE DOOR HAS BEEN OPENED.
THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY FAILED. THE 2012 FORD EDGE USES THE EXACT SAME DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY AS USED IN THE ESCAPE AND FUSION WHICH WERE BOTH INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM. FORD SHOULD INCLUDE ALL MODELS THAT USED THIS PART IN ITS EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM OR BETTER YET ISSUE A RECALL. IN MY OPINION IT'S DANGEROUS PULLING OUT INTO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC ONLY TO LOSE POWER. MANY OTHER DANGEROUS SCENARIOS COULD BE EXPECTED.

INTERIOR LIGHTING AND REVIEW MIRRORS LIGHTING. THIS VEHICLE LIGHTING STAYS ON FOR AND EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED AND REMOVED THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE LNTERIOR LIGHTS WILL BE ON WHEN PARKED OR IN A STATIONARY POSITION.
I HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH BRAKE SYSTEM SINCE I'VE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. REPLACED BRAKE PADS SEVERAL TIMES. LAST WEEK, NOTICED PUSHING BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO STOP, TOOK IN TO THE MECHANIC THAT I USE-THE ENTIRE MASTER CYLINDER WAS BLOWN OUT THE BACK WITH BRAKE FLUID JUST POURING OUT. HE REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER (FROM FORD PARTS STORE) AND ALSO FRONT AND BACK BRAKES. WHEN I PICKED UP MY VEHICLE, ITS STILL NOT CORRECTED. BRAKE PEDAL IS STILL "LOOSE" ALMOST GOING TO THE FLOOR AS IT WAS AND NOW IT HAS HISSING NOISE AND SPONGE PEDAL. I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP, STATES THAT IS A BRAKE BOOSTER ISSUE.TO CALL AND CHECK RECALL ON THIS PARTICULAR VIN #. I CALLED FORD MOTOR CO AT 1-800-392-3673 AND VERIFIED NO RECALL ON MY SPECIF VIN #, BUT MANY FORD EDGE 2012 HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THEY REFERRED ME TO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND SAFETY ADMINISTRATION TO GIVE THIS SAFETY COMPLAINT. I';M VERY UPSET THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY FORD EDGE AND NOTHING IS BEING OFFERED TO ME THROUGH FORD TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED. THIS WOULD BE WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OBVIOUSLY....
DOOR AJAR STAYS ON
FAULTY DOOR LATCH SENSOR ON REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED CAUSING THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO COME ON AS WELL. THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAY ON EVEN AFTER THE CAR IS SHUT OFF CAUSING DRAINING OF THE BATTERY. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT HAS EVEN COME ON WHEN DRIVING. PROBLEM STARTED OVER A MONTH AGO AND HAS BEEN SPORADICALLY HAPPENING
DOOR LATCH FAILURE, CAUSING DOOR AJAR WARNING TO STAY ON AND BATTERY TO DRAIN. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE BATTERY BECAUSE OF IT. I HAVE LEFT SHOULDER AND ARM PAIN FROM OPENING AND CLOSING IT REPEATEDLY, UNTIL THE LATCH CLOSES AND SENDS SIGNAL TO CONTROL PANEL THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED. I HAVE SAFETY CONCERNS BECAUSE I WORK AT NIGHT AND DON'T WANT A STALLED VEHICLE OR NO LIGHTS IN MY CAR WHEN I RETURN TO IT. ALSO IS CONCERNS FOR SAFETY OF PASSENGERS AND CHILDREN IN CAR WITH ME. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL ON LATCHES ON OTHER FORD VEHICLES, WHY NOT THIE FORD EDGE TOO? I'M SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING TRADING MY VEHICLE IF NOT FIXED. THIS IS MY FIRST FORD AND MAYBE MY LAST ONE IF IT ISN'T FIXED SOON!
BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED NEARLY KILLING US IN DEC 2015 AS WE ROLLED INTO AN INTERSECTION. LUCKILY NOBODY HIT US. REPAIRED JAN 2016 UNDER CUST SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N02 BY FORD, LIKELY TO AVOID A REAL RECALL. REPLACEMENT BOOSTER HAS NOW FAILED ALMOST CAUSING ANOTHER ACCIDENT AFTER A YEAR AND 1/2 AND 15K MILES AS WIFE HAD TO RUN OFF ROAD TO AVOID STOPPED TRAFFIC BECAUSE SHE HAD NO BRAKES. WHY HAS NHTSA NOT FORCED A RECALL? IT IS LITERALLY IS A SITUATION WHERE THOUSANDS OF THESE CARS ARE ROLLING AROUND WITH ADULTS AND YOUNG DRIVERS NOT KNOWING THAT AT SOME POINT THEY'LL NEED TO STOP AND THEY WILL HAVE ZERO BRAKES. IS ANYBODY READING THESE? YES IF YOU PUSH TO THE FLOOR HARD AND HOLD IT TIGHT IT WILL EVENTUALLY STOP AS A CRUDE MANUAL BRAKE. KIDS HAVE NEVER DRIVEN A CAR WITHOUT POWER BRAKES! THE REST OF US AREN'T EXPECTING IT SINCE NO WARNING SIGNS. FORD IS SIMPLY INSTALLING THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART ENDANGERING LIVES. WHAT DO WE DO, SELL THE CAR AND PUT SOMEONE ELSE AT RISK SINCE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE THE SAME FAULTY CRAP?
I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY, CITY STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH WHEN MY 2012 FORD EDGE SPORT LOST POWER AND THE "WRENCH" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD TO CAREFULLY MOVE TOWARDS THE RIGHT LANE AND WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO THE PARKING LOT OF A CONVENIENCE STORE. I TURNED IT OFF, WAITED 10 MINUTES, AND IT STARTED UP AGAIN. I DROVE HOME THE 3 MILES WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE SAME AFTERNOON, I DROVE IT TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. THEIR REPORT SHOWED NO CODES AND TOLD US THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I DROVE IT THAT NIGHT ABOUT 30 MILES WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. THE NEXT MORNING, I EXITED MY NEIGHBORHOOD TRACT INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION WHERE THE CAR DIED AGAIN. I BARELY COASTED ONCE AGAIN TO SAFETY AFTER TRYING TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WITH THE THREAT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS WAS TERRIFYING. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THEY CONTINUE TO SAY THERE IS NO CODE AND THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AFTER DRIVING IT. THEY DID REPLACE THE BATTERY, SAYING THAT IT WAS LOW, EVEN THOUGH THE BATTERY IS LESS THAN ONE YEAR OLD. I AM NOT CONFIDENT THAT REPLACING THE BATTERY WILL FIX THE PROBLEM AND THEY DON'T SEEM CONFIDENT EITHER. THEY HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR 5 DAYS NOW AND WANT US TO PICK UP THE CAR UP TOMORROW. HOW CAN I FEEL SECURE DRIVING MY FAMILY IN A CAR THAT HAS PUT ME IN THIS DANGEROUS PREDICAMENT? I HAVE SPOKEN TO THE SERVICE MANAGER, FORD REGIONAL MANAGERS, AND NONE OF THEM ARE EMPATHETIC TO THIS SITUATION AND THEY OFFER NO SOLUTION.
2012 FORD EDGE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE FAILURE. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD RAPIDLY LOSE ACCELERATION. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT THEREFORE, THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR, REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FUEL INLET FAILED, AS WELL. UPDATED 11/07/2017*JS
THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS ALWAYS ON. WHEN I START DRIVING THE LIGHTS ARE ON UNTIL I MOVE A FEW FEET. I AM NOT ABLE TO LOCK MY DOORS OR USE MY REMOTE START. IT HAS KILLED MY BATTERY. WHEN MY CAR IS PARKED AND TURNED OFF THE LIGHTS WILL COME ON AND OFF RANDOMLY.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE. AT ABOUT 60K MILES, THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON. SLAMMING THE DOOR REPEATEDLY OVER A DOZEN TIMES WILL SOMETIMES TURN THE LIGHTS OFF. AFTER GOOGLING THE ISSUE I SEE THAT IT'S A PROBLEM FOR HUNDREDS OF FORD EDGE OWNERS BETWEEN THE YEARS 2011-2013. THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SERIOUS RECALL ISSUE. THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR AND SHE DRIVES OUR DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL AND PRACTICE. WHEN THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WON'T GO OUT YOU CANNOT LOCK THE DOORS. AT NIGHT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WON'T TURN OFF, SO IT'S HARD TO SEE OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE AND IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. IF SHE'S IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE DOORS FLY OPEN, DAMAGE WILL BE MUCH WORSE. IF SHE'S AT AN INTERSECTION AND A CRIMINAL OPENS HER DOOR BECAUSE SHE CAN'T LOCK THE CAR IT'S ON FORD. THERE'S A LACK OF OVERALL SECURITY AND SAFETY WITH THIS DOOR AJAR ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. I AM LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO AFFORD THE $439.95 WE WERE CHARGED TO REPAIR IT, BUT THOSE WHO AREN'T PUT THE REST OF US ON THE ROAD AT RISK.
ENGINE CAME ON AND VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN OR STALLS WHEN DRIVING. DEALER DIAGNOSED PROBLEM WAS THROTTLE BODY #AT4Z-9E926-B AND REPLACED IT AT A COST OF $333.23. DEALER AND GEORGINA AT FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE STATED NO WARRANTY OR "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" COVERAGE FOR COST. PROBLEM IS SAME AS FORD ESCAPE COVERED IN PROGRAM.
WHILE DRIVING, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES ALONG WITH A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER INDICATING "LIMP" MODE HAS BEEN ENTERED. POWER OFF THE CAR FOLLOWED BY RESTART SEEMS TO CLEAR THE CODE AND ALLOW NORMAL OPERATION WITH GOOD ENGINE POWER. ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY SEEMS TO BE THE CULPRIT. THIS IS A RATHER DANGEROUS OCCURRENCE WHEN DRIVING ON BUSY, CROWDED STREETS AND FREEWAYS. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. MOST RECENT IS 24 SEPTEMBER 2017.
09/15/2017 DRIVER DOOR AJAR CAME ON SHOWING DOOR WAS OPEN. CLOSED DOOR SEVERAL TIMES AND IT WOULD GO OFF. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL 10/10/2017. NOW IT WON'T GO OFF AND MY DOORS WOULDN'T AUTO LOCK WHEN IN MOTION AND WOULDN'T STAY LOCKED MANUALLY EITHER. MY DOME LIGH WOULD STAY ON ALSO. 10/16/2017 CAR WOULD NOT START, BATTERY WAS DRAINED AND NO LIGHTS WERE LEFT ON. CALLED GARAGE AND JUMP STARTED VEHICLE AND TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIRS. JUST GOT CALL THAT THE BATTERY AND DOOR AJAR SENSOR WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. IT WILL COST ALMOST $800.00 TO FIX. THE WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED ON VEHICLE AND THAT LEAVES ME WITH THE BILL. I READ NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME VEHICLE AND SAME PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS. IT IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE CHILDREN AND THE DOORS WON'T STAY LOCKED.
VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. DASH WARNING "DRIVER'S DOOR IS AJAR". DOOR IS CLOSED, BUT COMPUTER INDICATES THE DOOR IS NOT CLOSED. WHEN THIS OCCURS, A WARNING LIGHT APPEARS ON THE DASH INDICATING "DOOR IS AJAR". IF I DRIVE WITH THAT LIGHT ON, ANOTHER WARNING IS DISPLAYED TO "SHIFT TO PARK". WHEN WARNING IS ON, THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON. IF I ATTEMPT TO LOCK THE CAR WITH THE REMOTE, THE HORN BEEPS TWICE (AS OPPOSED TO ONCE), INDICATING THE DOORS ARE NOT LOCKED.
IN SEPTEMBER 2017, I WAS PULLING INTO A BANK WITH MY 2012 FORD EDGE. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I TRIED REAPPLYING THEM BUT ONCE AGAIN HAD ALMOST NO BRAKING POWER TO STOP. AFTER COMING TO A STOP WITH THE PARKING BRAKE I TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON. STILL NO BRAKE PRESSURE, BUT A WHISTLE SORT OF SQUEAK WHEN RELEASING THE BRAKE. I CONTACTED HUB CITY FORD IN LAFAYETTE, LA AND BROUGHT IT IN FOR REPAIRS (SEPT 11). THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE BRAKE BOOSTER WHICH THEY AGREED WAS THE PROBLEM, AND THEY REPLACED. REPLACING THE BOOSTER DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE, AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE NO SYMPTOMS INDICATING AN ISSUE (NO ENGINE LIGHT, NO LEAKS, NO GRADUAL LOSS IN PRESSURE). THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER, THEN CALLED TO TELL ME THERE IS STILL NO BRAKE PRESSURE. NOW THEY ARE SAYING THE HCU NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, AND IT WILL COST $1200. THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THIS WAS GOING OUT, AND TO MY KNOWLEDGE, DOESN'T SHOW UP ON ANY TYPE OF DIAGNOSTICS. I CONTACTED FORD, AND THEY CREATED A CASE (CAS-13144337) BUT WOULD NOT TELL ME IF THERE WERE OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. BY CHECKING ONLINE, I SEE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES TO MANY CAR OWNERS WITH NO WARNING. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT OFTENTIMES THEY REPLACE THE POWER BOOSTER (RECALL ISSUE) AND ULTIMATELY END UP REPLACING OTHER COMPONENTS THAT ARE THE REAL PROBLEM. THE REPLACED BOOSTERS ARE BEING REPORTED BACK TO FORD, BUT MAYBE THE OTHER COMPONENTS ARE NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT UNDER RECALL (BUT CLEARLY SHOULD BE).
THE DOOR AJAR WARNING STAYS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED
DOOR AJAR SENSOR LIGHTS UP FOR DRIVERS DOOR WHEN IT IS SECURELY SHUT. THIS MAKES THE DOME LIGHT STAY ON AND CONSTANT WARNINGS PLACE UNNECESSARY STRAIN ON BATTERY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT NIGHT BECAUSE THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AS WELL. JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR IN JULY 2017 USED AND IT BEGAN THIS ISSUE IN SEPTEMBER 2017.
BACK DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH, FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH
A WRENCH WARNING WOULD JUST APPEAR ON MY DASH AND MY CAR WOULD TOTALLY JUST SHUT DOWN. I CAN BE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THIS HAPPENS..HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES THEN FINALLY TOOK IT TO FORD AND THEY REPLACED MY THROTTLE BODY FOR 750.00. PICKED CAR UP AND 2 DAYS LATER HAPPENED AGAIN. TOOK BACK TO FORD AND THEY SAID NOTHING IS WRONG.
WHEN I GET INTO MY CAR, CLOSE THE DOOR, AND START THE ENGINE, THE PASSENGER DOOR AJAR SIGN COMES ON. IT STAYS ON, AS WELL AS THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS, EVEN IF I SHUT THE PASSENGER DOOR.
ALERT THAT DRIVER DOOR IS NOT CLOSED AND UNABLE TO USE KEY PAD TO LOCK DOOR
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL TURN ON AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TURN OFF UNLESS THE DOOR IS SHUT MULTIPLE TIMES. IT MAY ALSO TURN ON WHEN DRIVING AS WELL.
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING, DANGEROUS AT NIGHT. HAS ALREADY RAN BATTERY DOWN AND ALMOST STRANDED. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW AND NEVER BEEN MISTREATED AND GARAGE KEPT.
WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT ON 6/26/17, MY BRAKES FAILED - WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I KEPT GOING - SLOWLY SINCE I WAS TURNING. DEALERSHIP SENT A WRECKER BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER THAT HAD FAILED. I HAD JUST HAD NEW REAR BRAKES PUT ON 5/16/17 AND WENT BACK BECAUSE OF CLUNKING NOISE WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKE ON 6/1/17. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER 2012 FORD EDGES AND WANTED YOU TO ADD MY VEHICLE TO THE LIST. COULD HAVE BEEN REALLY BAD IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING FAST AND FASTER AND SUDDENLY NEEDED TO STOP!
