2018 Ford Edge - 53000 miles. Missfire for #2, constantly for almost a year. Had coils and spark plugs replaced numerous times but keeps happening. Ford Service stated that coolant is leaking causing this and it is a manufacturer defect. Engine needs to be replaced, estimated cost $7500.
My Edge overheated on me and had it towed to Ford dealership where they diagnosed my car as having coolant leaking into my cylinders and ruined my engine. Ford is aware of this and does not care at all. I want to join the class action lawsuit over this issue. I’m stuck owing 23,000 on a car i can’t drive and engine replacement isn’t a smart idea since they won’t fix the coolant issue and it will just happen again.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions, at approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated on several occasions. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road for approximately 10 minutes and then restarted. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.
Car just hit 100000 miles. Engine light came on . Took to Barnes Crossing Ford in New Albany. After inspection was in formed coolant was leaking into engine and block needed to be replaced. The car did not overheat but the coolant leaking into engine could have ignited a fire due to other chemicals present such as oil, and other fluids needed to operate motor. TSB was already issued regarding this defect as well as multiple complaints and a recall on escapes and fusions that ended in 2022. Because of lack of investigation and safe recall this problem continues to pose a danger to myself and others. Motor has to be replaced at the nominal fee of 6500.00 . The problem continues to exist.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light and the coolant temperature warning light illuminated. Last July my check engine light came on giving us a P0302 code. We had the spark plugs changed. It went away for a week then came back on with the same code. We had the coil packs changed. Same thing. Went away for a week then returned. Now dealership is saying they want $9,000+ to replace time engine for an issue that has been known to Ford since 2010 with this engine.with less than 70,000 miles on it, white smoke is pouring out of my car, the engine is overheating and coolant is leaking. I’m told that this can cause a fire or worse, a wreck. I have children that I transport daily in this vehicle seeing how it’s our only means of transportation and we dont have the money to replace the engine much less buy a replacement vehicle. Ford needs to be held accountable for selling these faulty cars, putting families in danger and fix these issues NOW!!! Why wait for someone to die before they actually take a stand and fix their issue when they know thousands of customers are having the exact same issues. Such a disappointment!
My name is [XXX] my husband and I have been working with Chapman Ford on a situation with my 2018 Ford Edge. Currently the Edge needs an Engine replacement according to TSB #'s 19-2208,19-2346,22-2133 and 22-2229. This stems from a design flaw issue starting with the 2015 Edge according to the TSB's. The cost to replace the engine is $7030.95, Chapman Ford put in a GCCT Case and got approval for $2,812.38 of the total cost for a known design flaw that should probably have been a recall or at the very least extended the warranty to 150K like Ford has done on other engines with the same issue, but not my model. Ford is telling me I need to pay $4,200 out of pocket to replace the entire engine. I only have 70,000 miles on the vehicle. I feel like I'm getting the run around when it comes to Ford. We have called the company directly and they told us since Ford Chapman made the offer to reduce the cost by $2,800.00, they cannot extend further coverage for the cost. I'm confused here, why am I paying for a design flaw? Why was there not a recall? Can you help? What really upsets me is Ford never notified me of this problem, it was not disclosed when I purchased the vehicle, nor did they diagnose it when my engine light came on. A third party was the one to alert us to the issue and the bulletin. [XXX] [XXX] . [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Engine emission light came on. cylinder 2 misfire code. Engine ruinning rough when first started. Dealer found coolant low. Performed diagnostics - need new engine. coolant leaking into engine. Not part of an existing recall but known problem. In reading what could happen: my engine could over heat, seize and start on fire. I was fortunate that none of this occured putting myself or others at risk or leaving me stranded on the road. I am attaching the technical service bulletin. this recall needs to be expanded. Vehicle currently at the dealer. We are determining next steps. https://www.com/ford-edge-recalls/#:~:text=2016%2C%202017%20and%202018%20Ford,and%20a%20loss%20of%20power.

On July 8 2023 my check engine light came on and I took Edge to my trusted mechanic. He stated I needed a new engine. I had Edge towed to George Wall Ford where they indicated I needed a new engine. I contacted Ford and they stated I would have to foot the bill. I searched the web and found numerous individuals experienced same issue and there was a class action lawsuit filed in California which I joined. Please see attachments.

2018 Ford Edge with a little over 25000 miles and serviced at the dealership it was purchased from. The battery will drain to less than 5 volts overnight for no apparent reason. Unit is on its second battery and it test fine. The issue is not consistent, sometimes it will happen only after a couple of months, othertimes after a few days between occurances. Its appears when when the car if turned off, something in one of its many computers is not shutting down all the required systems allowing the battery to drain overnight. Short of installing a battery disconnect switch, I', running out of ideas. Neither my wife of I feel safe driving the car, since it may leave us stranded.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the driver's side front seat belt failed to latch and lock securely as designed. The audible alert was sounded. Cylinder engine misfires due to a faulty manufactured head gasket. Ford motor co was apparently aware of the manufacturing flaw but has yet to issue a recall on certain Ford Edge models sold manufactured and sold between 2013 -2018. The solution to the problem requires a completely new engine with average cost ranging between $6,000 to $8,000 dollars. If these particular models are driven without the requisite repairs it can result in complete engine failure of fires. This presents a serious hazard to drivers and occupants of the vehicle as well as other motorists.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated. After a check engine light came on, vehicle was brought to local Ford dealership. After the problem was diagnosed it was determined that there was a defect in the engine that resulted in coolant leaking into the cylinders. There are currently 8 TSB's regarding this issue and a pending class action law suit. We are now currently responsible for replacing the entire engine at a cost of almost 9,0000.00

Check engine light came on, Cylinder 3 misfire, head gasket cracked and leaking coolant into cylinder, need to replace entire motor.
I had a wreck in my 2018 ford edge. I hydroplaned. I got a concrete wall of a bridge. My front bumper was off. Under both headlights my car was demolished. Rear bumper and back hatch hit a metal railing My steering wheel airbag did not deploy. The only airbag in the whole car that deployed was underneath the steering wheel.
The glass sunroof has spontaneous wavy cracking throughout 50% of the front portion. I am concerned about the integrity of the glass, as well as the safety of myself and passengers in the vehicle. There was no apparent point of impact; it appears to be a tempering/temperature issue. No warning lights, messages, etc. were present. I noticed the issue upon opening the shade screen below the roof, which I haven't opened for a few weeks. I am not sure of the exact date that the cracking began. I will keep a close eye on it to see if the surface area increases.
coolant leak into number 2 cylinder causing slow down with no acceleration.
I first noticed the sound of water running in the dash each time I started the car. At that time I don’t recall an engine light on. It would sound like bubbles and water running for 10 seconds or so and then it would go away. That lasted a while before I was driving home from work and on two consecutive mornings my car lost acceleration power. This is dangerous in that I have to cross traffic on a busy road and had I tried to go quickly between cars I definitely couldn’t have moved to get out of the way. Each time this happened I pulled over and restarted the car and was able to get home. While waiting for my appointment with ford my car overheated and I got an engine overheat prompt. This was in the middle of summer and I had my two kids in the car. I drove to an auto zone and my dad met me to help add more coolant. At first glance it looked low, but once he opened the cap it bubbled up to appropriate levels. So overall we didn’t add too much coolant. I took it into ford and they told me I had an engine coolant leak into the main block and I had to replace my entire engine out of pocket. My car was at ford for 30 days waiting for replacement and the installation.
I have a 2018 Ford Edge 2.0L Ecoboost with approximately 68,000 miles on it. While driving the vehicle on June 12, 2023, the check engine light began to come on and off intermittently. During this time, the vehicle began to heavily shake and began to involuntarily jerk as though it was having issues moving forward. I took the vehicle straight to a Firestone where they ran diagnostic tests for 2 days. They tried replacing spark plugs but said that is not the issue. They recommended taking the vehicle to a dealership. An appointment was made and the car dropped off at a Ford dealership on June 21,2023. After running more tests, the dealership is stating that there is a manufacturing defect with the engine block which has caused coolant leakage into the engine, damaging the engine so extensively that it needs to be replaced. I was quoted around $8,000 for repairs. I have an extended warranty with a 3rd party company who is denying my claim due to the issue being a manufacturing issue. I have done research and found this to be a common issue with this year make and model and that the issue could cause a fire or catastrophic failure. After extensive research, it seems this is a common issue with owners of this make and model and this engine. There have been hundreds of complaints filed. This should be a recall as people can be severely hurt in the event of fire or catastrophic failure. And most people do not have nearly $10,000 to spend to replace an issue that is common and well known at this point. I have been without a vehicle for over 2 weeks now and have no idea if or how this vehicle will be repaired.
June 2023 the coolant started disappearing from the coolant tank. The vehicle was checked by a licensed mechanic and the coolant is leaking into the engine cylinders only. Nowhere else is it leaking. By it leaking into the cylinders, it is causing the car to misfire, This will lead to a car fire or a seized engine. The vehicle is unsafe to drive, therefore is parked. Ford should have recalled this turbo engine but has failed to do so or do anything about it. There are thousands of people with this problem, 3 in my community, several lawsuits around the USA. I need transportation for my family and to get to work.
Coolant problem I was told blown head gasket and had to replace entire motor for 9,000
My car was leaking coolant into the engine not only causing the engine to fail and need replacing, but the engine overheated, causing me to have to pull over on the side of the road. It happened a few time before the issue could be found. The dealer finally found the cause of the overheating was due to coolant intruding into the engine causing cylinders to misfire.
Question 1 answer: Last month, the check engine light on my 2018 Ford Edge came on. So, we took it to the Ford dealership for repairs 0n 5/3/2023. The service center said that there was a problem with one of the spark plugs and replaced it. The cost was $193.47. Following the repair, the check engine light was reset and the car ran smoothly. I took the car on a trip and drove it around 1,000 miles. The check engine light came on again. I returned the car to the same dealership service center on 5/26/2023. Ford told me (see receipt) there was a code P0302 and P0316 and indicated cylinder #2 was misfiring. Receipt said checked all cylinders and pistons for discoloration. Cylinder #2 was badly discolored. Vehicle has coolant intrusion in cylinders - needs motor. This bill was $180. Service desk personnel asked whether I had an extended warranty since vehicle was at 68,352 miles. I said, "no." Service desk told me that I needed a new motor and the cost would be around $10,000! Service desk also told me that this was a common problem with several Ford models including the Edge, Focus, and Fusion. Yes, it is available for inspection upon request unless we sell or trade it. Question 2: The only safety issue may be that I could have been out on the road if the engine failed. Question 3: See Question 1 answer and attached receipt from car dealership service center Question 4: No, unless you consider the Ford dealership service center as "the manufacturer." Question 5: Prior to each car dealership service center visit, the car ran rough upon starting and the check engine light came on and stayed on until it went to the repair shop. It takes time to get an appointment scheduled. So, each time the situation occurred, it took approximately one week to schedule a repair visit. Also, please note that the address shown on the dealership receipt is my previous address. I've entered my current address where prompted.
My 2018 ford edge coolant has hairline cracks which caused coolant to leak into the engine. I was unaware of this until it was taken to a Ford service center when the check engine light came on. Ford knows about this and has a bulletin out for it. The engine is burning this coolant and it could cause the engine to overheat.
Brought in for a check engine light on. They found that coolant was leaking into motor causing it to Misfire. Dealer said a new long block was the only fix. My car had 64k miles and it cost me $8438.58. The dealer stated that Ford won’t help with the cost because I haven’t bought enough Ford products (This is my 2nd) or had my vehicle serviced at a Ford dealer. The car is currently going back in the shop on Wednesday because the light went on again after a brand new motor was installed.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the engine cranked up but failed to start. The checking engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V548000 (Electrical System). The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.
We were sent a recall notice from Ford (Program 22N12-Flexplate) in September 2022. Our vehicle was in the service department for an engine replacement in August of 2022. I asked my local dealer to make repair before I left for a trip from Lewisville, TX to Athens, Ga for our granddaughter's graduation. They would not because the FLEXPLATE must be broken. On our return trip home, we pulled into our hotel in Laurel, Ms. There was loud noise from the engine compartment. Went to the local dealer and he said come back in the morning and they would check it out. They found the flexplate broken and the dealer said the vehicle was unsafe to drive. Thank God it broke in town rather than on the lonely interstate at night. We believe this program should be completed immediately before you are left alone on the side of the interstate. In addition, we incurred extra expenses that Ford is not reimbursing us.
engine malfunction, loose engine power. It will fail to accelerate some times. It has been ispected by the ford dealership and the problem has been confirmed by them. Check engine on. Ford Motor company has a recall on the ford edge 2015-2018. Attached you will find the TSB # 19-2208 from ford in which describe the issues for the recall. Even though my car is showing the exact same malfunction, ford is telling me that my specific vin # is not on the recall and that I need to replace the engine for $ 6,000.00. What I do not understand is how if the vehicle has the same malfunction as the recall and it has been confirmed by Ford that its the same safety issue my vehicle will not be included in the recall. I'm writing NHTS as recomended by ford to see if someone can help me with this issue.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that coolant intrusion had caused the engine to misfire, resulting in damage to the engine and requiring for the engine to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N12. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 74,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 55-60 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to AutoZone, where it was diagnosed that cylinder #2 was misfiring. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where cylinder #2 spark plug and the ignition coil were replaced; however, the failure recurred while driving. The message "Low Coolant" was displayed, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion in cylinder #2. The dealer sent a diagnostic report with photos to the warranty department; however, the claim was denied. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to TSB Number: 19-2346. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
Without any warning my car wouldn't go forward when I stopped at a light, no engine light, no warning. It was fine when I left home . I always went to sterns ford for service and oil change. I just took in in less than 2 months ago for a censor to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the ignition coil and spark plugs. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred an additional four times before the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 64,800.
I took my car in for Ford Recalls to be performed and asked for the tech to check out why my Check engine light came on. Initially they could not find what caused it so they charged me close to $500 to do an in depth investigation and found that I had a crack in my engine that was causing coolant to leak into it. It could not be repaired and I would have to replace the engine. My car only had just over 65,000 miles on it, and unfortunately just over the warranty. So I was charged $7,000 to replace it. When I called the main Ford Customer Service number I was told that this seems to be a common issue with this year and model but there was nothing that I could do about it, short of a recall being issued for the engine problem. I had no other choice but to replace the engine as driving it could leave me stranded somewhere which was not an option. I was without the use of my car for three weeks with no assistance from Ford. The fact that this is a known issue but still was not covered is ridiculous. I previously owned a 1998 Ford Explorer Sport with over 300,000 miles on it and never had an issue with my engine. I believe that since this is a known issue with this Ford year, make and model that there should be recall issued so that consumers are not having to deal with this very expensive inconvenience. Thank you.

I am experiencing a coolant leak into the engine of my vehicle. I was told there was a recall for many 2015-2018 Ford Edge's but it seems mine is not one of them. This is exactly like the recall I see that is 20V469000. I am trying to find out how to get someone to look into my issue and see about getting me included in this recall or any others that are associated with coolant leaking into the engine.
