I was driving down the road, coming around a bend and then I was in bushes with a tree in the hood of my car. The car was slanted in an embankment. The driver could not get out of the door they crawled over to the passenger side and got out of the vehicle. The car was wedged between two trees. The airbags never deployed on this front impact accident.

Powertrain issues less than 60,000 miles car having severe issues changing gears from 2 to 3rd gears, acceleration causes increase in hesitation after first gear causing hazards beginning at 20 through 40 MPH limiting ability to accelerate onto highways or appropriately pull into traffic on byways. Contacted Ford dealer locally who states the vehicle is no longer under powertrain warranty effective 12/23. Scheduled inspection at Ford dealer is 8/20. Independent repair shop scheduled 8/5. No previous or current warning lamps or lights detecting issues with system and issue began occurring 7-12-2024
Having torque converter replaced in my 2020 with 37,000 miles on it. Transmission stutters/lags at speeds under 40. Seems to be a common issue so wanted to report. Luckily had warranty replacement. Definitely a safety concern as the car delays when you hit the gas before it goes, many times i was nearly in an accident.
Starting the engine is completely fine. However, when I shift the gear into drive or reverse, it starts shaking. As I slowly accelerate, the shaking gets worse. I think something is wrong with the transmission. According to local mechanic
The torque converter is slipping mostly during speed up in lower gears as a shuddering experience. Not safe to pass during these hick-ups due to the hesitations. I had it in at Apple Ford in White Bear Lake, MN. where they found it in the diagnostic performance. No warning lamps. It first started at around 67 or 68K miles. 70k miles on it now.

Car jerks when switching gears most of the time. Mostly noticed between 2nd & 3rd AND 3rd & 4th gears. If I am very gentle with the gas pedal, the jerk is very minor and sometimes unnoticeable. At constant speeds, the RPM spikes on its own without me hitting the gas pedal. To confirm this, I drove the car on the highway multiple times with cruise control set to 60 MPH. RPM will be slightly over 2x1000 for most of the time but periodically spikes 50-100 RPM over this constant mark.
No warning lamps came on but while crossing after stopping at a stop sign the car was jerking and did not want to accelerate almost causing me to get hit by another car. This issue has been present since around 45k miles. I’m currently at 85k on odometer. This was the first time I realized how dangerous this can be. I followed all traffic laws and due to the sluggishness of acceleration due to the jerking I was nearly hit. I went to the dealership and they said it was the torque converter gone bad. The same issue that has been the cause of recall on almost every other model of the same year, the 2020 Ford Edge. This has been ongoing issue for Ford because my mother has a 2016 Ford Escape that was recalled for the torque converter. This is costing me a few thousand dollars to repair since they haven’t recalled my particular vin. This will be the reason I never buy a Ford again!!!!!
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while turning off and entering the vehicle, the contact observed a burning odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected, and the contact observed a huge hole in the seat back of the passenger's seat. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the heating element for the seat heater had shorted out. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,000.
Engine / transmission shudder / jerk when accelerating at low speeds. Dealer performed software update and advised of misfiring. Plugs and Coil Packs replaced. Issue persisted. Hundreds of similar complaints on forums online for 2019-2022 Ford Edge's with the 2.0L engine. Ford has still not produced a solution, and multiple dealers (per forum discussions) have suggested replacing transmissions and other parts to fix the issue with no success. Seems like Ford is stonewalling its customers despite this known and wide spread issue which seems to occur between 55,000-80,000 miles (when their warranty conveniently ends at 60,000 miles).
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle suddenly experienced a loss of motive power and stalled. During the failure the message "Low Coolant" was displayed, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed and determined that coolant had leaked into cylinder #3 and caused severe damages to the engine. The contact was advised that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 69,000.

The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.
This car doesn’t even have 100k on it and the transmission shutters really bad. No recall but this is very dangerous as it doesn’t allow you to accelerate when needed.
Have felt an issue with the transmission under 40k miles. Around 50-55k miles I got the transmission checked. Ford dealership/garage said it was the PCM that needed updating. After that, just under 60k miles I took it back for same issue and they ended up rebuilding the transmission. It has been driving fine but after another 20k miles (currently at 80k miles) it is starting to have the same issue. This is a problem because when trying to start to move forward, it will almost "stall" or "stutter" and has almost left me stuck in oncoming traffic while trying to turn. It has also caused issues while trying to accelerate on the highway too that have almost caused rear-end collisions. Looking through forms, it seems that most 2019+ Ford Edges have a problem with their transmissions and it's a common part that needs to be replaced.
When accelerating the car hesitates or has jerking action from 10-30 MPH. When this happens I was almost rear ended a few times due to almost coming to a quick stop jerking action where the car is very slow accelerating from an intersection. I have done some research to find out that there are hundreds with the same issue with Ford Edge cars. This issue is getting more noticeable as the car gets older. Having problems with some dealerships getting the problem resolved or fixed. I was told to fill out your form with this information. Thank you for your time.
I was traveling at about 60 miles per hour when I attempted to accelerate slightly to stay with traffic. It seemed like the car wouldn't change gears, but the engine decreased in power. It did not seem that the vehicle had any "power". The car would not increase in speed. I noticed the "wrench" warning light, which corresponds to the drive train of the car. I was able to coast into the next small town about a half mile from the location where I first noticed the issue. Applying the breaks slowed the vehicle. I placed the vehicle in park. The car would not change out of this gear again. The vehicle's gas pedal did not produce any forward or backward momentum in drive or reverse. The vehicle is at the Ford Dealership for repair/inspection at this time. I can provide repair notes from the dealership. The vehicle could be made available for inspection upon request. If this drive train issue had happened on a busy highway, it may have been difficult to navigate off of the roadway safely without the ability to accelerate the car. If this issue had happened on an uphill road, the car would have lost speed rapidly, leading to a rear-end collision.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the USB port became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who stated that the unit was destroyed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The dealer informed the contact that liquid might have fallen into the unit. The vehicle was repaired. The contact replaced the charging cord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the screen went black. The vehicle was taken to the same local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) needed to be replaced and there was no warranty coverage on the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 39,006.
At around 47,000 miles (April 27, 2024) my car would not move when I put it in reverse to leave my house that day, the engine would just rev and it would not get into the reverse gear. Then warning light came on for the power train so I called the dealership and had it towed to their service department. They said they had to completely rebuild my transmission and it took them almost a month to complete the repairs. (May 6th, while the car was at the dealership , I received several engine warnings from my Ford app. I got my car back from the dealership about 2 weeks later) But immediately after getting my car back from the dealership there were still issues; it’s slips gears , especially from drive to first gear and first gear to second gear and the engine will rev for a while and then the entire vehicle jerks when it finally catches the next gear, also it doesn’t have enough power for steep inclines , it will just roll backwards while the engine is raving trying to climb the hill. This happened intermittently after the transmission rebuild but has since progressed to be an everyday issue. And I’ve sent it back to the dealership several times over the last year for them to fix it but it never gets fixed. They keep telling me they did a software update and that should fix the issue, but it doesn’t. It’s at the dealership again right now because it has gotten so bad that I can’t even drive the car. You start the car, put it in drive and it just revs and won’t even catch first gear. It now has around 60,000 miles. I’m the only owner of the vehicle and I take excellent care of my vehicles. I just want my vehicle to be drivable and a vehicle that is worth the price that I paid for it. I paid for a brand new vehicle, but what I got is a piece of crap. And not drivable.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH, the RPMs began fluctuating very quickly. The transmission was slipping, causing the vehicle to lose motive power. The vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road however, the gear shifter failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the torque converter failed and sent metal particles throughout the transmission. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the diagnostic result was confirmed; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 103,534.
On [XXX] at [XXX] I was driving home from work as I turned on [XXX] road in Jackson CA I felt the vehicle pull and not want to pick up speed to drive up the road like it wanted to stall and only rolled forward a bit. The vehicle then picked back up and I made it to the stop light at the end of the road once I stopped for less than 1 minute the light turned green, I tried to go and the vehicle shut off and began to roll back I had to step on the break and the car behind me reversed so I would not hit him and then the screen flashed a turn vehicle off and restart engine I tried multiple times about 6. Cars had to go around me as I was the first at the light. I finally got the car to turn on and white smoke came out the exhaust pipes I couldn’t put the car in drive. I tried to re start the vehicle again and got it into drive and was able to pull on the side of the highway and more white smoke came out still no vehicle warning signs came on but the screen flashed dimly like it wanted to turn off again. I flagged down a fire truck and called 911 for help the fighters stated it seemed like my engine had blown out and the coolant was completely drained and may have gotten inside the engine causing the white smoke but to take it to a mechanic to verify. I had the vehicle towed to my home. On the way to work that night it drove fine with no issues or warnings, or pulling, I ran errands the day prior and no light warnings came on nor was my vehicle temperatures out of place. I even had my car serviced on [XXX] and had no issues I keep up on the maintenance I got the vehicle used from enterprise with a mileage of 52,559 on [XXX] the vehicle now has only 96,634 I’ve had the car for only a year and 4 months it should not have had an engine issue l have made a claim with my insurance hoping to get help, I’m calling enterprise for warranty information if there’s any and ford to see if there is any manufacturer warranties hoping to hear back this week. The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V442000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while his wife was operating the vehicle, the rearview camera displayed a distorted image while in reverse(R). The contact stated that the failure obstructed the driver's visibility, which prevented the driver from safely operating the vehicle. In addition, the touch-screen icons failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the failure occurred every 4 hours. Most recently, the controls to open the sunroof failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The contact stated that while operating the sunroof, there was an abnormal sound coming from the sunroof. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown.
Ford designed the vehicle with soy based insulation on the wires in the wiring harness, this attracts rodents which eat away at the wiring harness. Ford is aware of this but refuses to compensate or repair the damage. When the harness is compromised the tail lights, passenger airbag, passenger seatbelt and cross traffic warning indicators do not work. This presents multiple safety issues. The vehicle has been diagnosed by ford stating the damage was caused by rodents entering the passenger compartment through the outside vent of the heating system. My vehicle has been repaired three times for the same issue. Ford has refused to warrantee any damage and has tld me to turn it in to my insurance which I had done. this has caused my insurance premium to increase due to the claim. I have all the documentation from the occurrences and the transcript of my conversation with Ford customer service. I want at minimum the vehicle fixed or replaced at Fords expense. Previously Ford had spoken with my insurance company and told them the harness needed to be spliced, they did not replace the entire harness this caused the rodents to return and damage more of the harness..
EGR cooler faulty; the year this vehicle was manufactured in 2019 has an active recall with this same issue; however because my vehicle in the same year; 2019, was manufactured in a different time bracket Ford will not honor said repair. Leaving me with an extended warranty whom will not cover said repair also. $1800(+) out of pocket expense. Any insight on how one is too challenge this?
The screen sometimes won’t work at all. Just get a black screen and the power button won’t turn it back on. Tried pressing all buttons and it wouldn’t turn on until I shut off the car and turned it back on.
When backing up in the morning the brakes squeak and the camera goes blank when turning on the car or backing up and collision warning is coming on when no collision. And the car jerks when sitting at light, stop sign etc. According to your records this vehicle has no recalls please check your records and get back to me.
I purchased my 2020 Ford Edge in Dec 2021 with 8,000 miles at Covert Hutto. Looks like this car was being transferred to dealership after dealership. I feel that Ford should payoff my car and give me another car and take ownership of it being a bad production seed. It was built in Canada during the pandemic. I won’t feel safe because they took my transmission apart and how would I know if or whenever the torque converter is replaced it won’t damage quickly or something else goes wrong before my 60,000 mile’s warranty expires. Powertrain was the component that failed and/or malfunctioned. It’s at Covert Ford and is it available for inspection upon your request. I was in my driveway when the powertrain wrench light appeared on my dashboard. Yes the problem has been confirmed by Covert Ford service department. My vehicle was inspected by the License Transmission specialist at Covert Ford. There were no warning signs until I started my vehicle. I received a email alert and my FordPass app had an alert messages. There were no prior problem. The problem appeared on [XXX] and I towed it first thing on [XXX]. The contact's daughter owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 50-55 MPH, the vehicle started losing motive power. The coolant temperature warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle was unmovable. The contact then purchased coolant and added coolant to the reservoir. The contact was able to drive the vehicle; however, the failure recurred within 2 hours. The contact added coolant to the vehicle and was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to the Ford dealer, where the contact was informed that she would be charged a fee for a diagnostic test. The contact declined and the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was purchased. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that her grandfather who was an independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and informed her that coolant could be leaking into the engine. The contact related the failure to Ford Campaign Number: 20-2234. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
When I was driving and made a left turn. The car completely stalled on a busy street. Car would not drive at all.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle briefly jerked and hesitated. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The contact was informed that a replacement transmission was required. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.
The transmission jolts and disengages while driving,
The torque converter is failing and in one incident failed to provide power when accelerating. This created a safety risk as I was nearly rear ended when merging into a highway and lost the ability to accelerate. The torque converter has deteriorated and now caused the need to replace the transmission as well. I took the vehicle to a FORD dealer and they confirmed the torque converer has failed. They did not further inspect the transmission at that time. I have now taken it to an independant repair center and they inspected the transmission as well and found black transmission fluid due to metal shaving from the torque converter. This vehicle is 400 miles out of warranty and purchased as a certified pre owned from a ford dealer May 2023. Our mechanic has mentioned that this is a known issue for this vehicle. Up until this incedent there was no warning of any problems. I had noticed the car was shifting weird and shuddering slightly. When I discussed this with the local ford dealer, they explained that it was supposed to shift like that due to the type of transmission it had. Since then the car is barely drivable - scheduled for repair by my independent repair center 11/20.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while towing a 2014 Fleetwood Providence 42P, the contact made a turn around a curve, drove over a bump in the roadway, and the vehicle went into a death wobble. Additionally, while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle drove over a bump in the roadway, and the vehicle went into a death wobble. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.
I just had my car looked at by two different mechanics about rear differential. They told me those last the life of the car. So, they told me to look up recalls because that could be the issue. I only have 64000 miles on the car.
2020 Ford Edge is Surging/Bucking/Jerking when you first take off at low speeds of 20mph or less. This ongoing issue could cause an accident to happen by the vehicle not getting to proper speeds as it should. Took my 2020 Ford Edge to my local Ford Dealer and they Updated the Software to the Transmission per TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 8F35 Transmission. At first it seemed better, but the Surging/Bucking/Jerking quickly came back. Took my Edge back to the Ford Dealership once again but they didn't do anything literally scratching their heads wondering themselves what's up with these Edges transmission.
Severe jerking, hesitation and jerking when starting acceleration up to 35/40mph. Already had faulty EGR cooler replaced one month ago. Lost ALL coolant with no overheating signs on dash and coolant leaked into exhaust causing dense white smoke and horrible smell. This happened when only driving 5 houses down from my house.
I have a 2020 Ford Edge SEL and out of nowhere on 09-08-2023 smoke was pouring out of the exhaust and the car was misfiring. I looked further into it and it seemed to be the coolant was leaking down into the cylinder and causing it to burn through the exhaust making it very difficult to breathe. I sat in the car at a drive through for a couple minutes and it was unbearable to breathe. The car is stalling out while accelerating and could be very dangerous depending on where it stalls.
I was at a stop light and attempting to go when it turned green. It was like the gas pedal wasn't communicating with the car. I had no acceleration for a few seconds and then it was kind of trying to go and it would lose it again. It corrected itself finally, but if that happens when I'm trying turn and a car is coming, that would be extremely dangerous. It has happened a couple times in the past. The first time it happened the powertrain malfunction indicator light came on. At that time, I pulled over and turned the car off for a bit and it corrected itself.
While I am driving my vehicle Ford Edge when I press the gas pedal the vehicle do not respond property. Is acting like the vehicle has no enough gas and its shake the car a little bit. I took it to the Ford dealer in Asheboro NC, but because is no recall in place the only option for me was to pay for a initial inspection and see if the problem can be found. About the Forward Collision Warning is coming one in a while when we are driving for no reason. I also notified to the dealership that my dash board have a little bubbles for no reason because has always sleep inside the garage. I also reporter at Ford dealer at Sanford years ago, but it's was they did not found any solution and cover to it. I am very frustrate with this situation.
The contact's wife owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop to approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle was bucking and jerking. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to TSB Number: 21-2081. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000.
Faulty drivers seatbelt. The seat belt will either have a tremendous amount of slack to where it provides no restraint. This is concerning in the chance that an accident occurs; the chest strap hangs onto my lap. OR it will do the exact opposite and not give enough slack to buckle and gets stuck in the retracted position. When this happens I cant even put on my seat belt, giving me no choice but to ride around unsafe. My fear is getting into an accident and not having this critical piece of equipment protect me. There is also the concern of being pulled over and ticketed for not wearing my seat belt. Given that this is the drivers seatbelt malfunctioning, it’s unavoidable, It’s not like I can sit somewhere else to buckle up properly; especially if I am out already and just trying to head home when this occurs. I have spoken with Ford Motor Company twice about this (7/11/23 and (6/12/24) and opened up two different claims, but because this does not fall under my warranty it’s not covered? I stressed that this is a SAFETY concern not wear and tear. Neither time that I called was this issue properly handled. Does it take a major accident, injury and lawsuit for them to take a customer seriously when they are reporting safety restraint malfunctioning? They were unwilling to help solve this issue, and this raises serious concerns for me as well as anyone else who owns this model (or a ford in general). This should at least be a safety recall. Instead they are charging the owner to replace their faulty safety harness.
The rear view camera on my 2020 Ford Edge works intermittently. I found recall "NHTSA ID21V011000" and called Ford, but they say this does not apply to my vehicle. The symptoms described in the recall are the same as I am experiencing. This is definitely a safety issue and I am asking that this recall be extended to include my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle sputtered and hesitated before shifting into gear and accelerating as needed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
Powertrain went out in 4 lane hallway, transmission and drive shaft. There was a power train light that went on a few days before. I made appt with Ford and had to be towed there for my appointment, was unable to make it there. the people at ford told me that they have had to fix this same thing on multiple/many vehicles. But mine was under recall. Why? 2fmpk3j95lba74164
