FUEL VAPORS ENTERING PASSENGER COMPARTMENT VIA VENTILATION DUCTS. *AK
VEHICLE PULLS EITHER RIGHT OR LEFT RANDOMLY WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS LET GO. OCCURS DAILY WITH VARYING INTENSITY, ON ANY ROAD SURFACE/CONDITION, HOT OR COLD, IN EITHER DIRECTION DURING SAME DRIVING PERIOD AND SOMETIMES NOT AT ALL FOR A SHORT PERIOD. ALIGNED TWICE, THRUST BEARINGS, BUSHINGS, PLATES REPLACED, TEST-DRIVEN. WHILE PROBLEM OCCURS DAILY, IT DOES NOT OCCUR EVERY MOMENT WHICH MAY BE WHY IT DOESN'T SHOW UP WHEN ROAD-TESTED. THIRD SERVICE APPOINTMENT HAS BEEN BOOKED. CONCERNED BECAUSE WITHIN A FEW SECONDS VEHICLE CAN BE IN ANOTHER LANE (NOT THAT I DRIVE WITHOUT MY HANDS ON THE WHEEL). THANKS!
CABIN FILLS WITH SMELL OF RAW FUEL WHEN CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM ON ..ALSO SMELL OF RAW FUEL UNDER HOOD . MFG INSPECTED VEHICLE AND DOES NOT KNOW WHERE PROBLEM ORIGINATES.VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF SERVICE 36 DAYS WHILE ENGINEERING LOOKS FOR SOLUTION TO PROBLEM .VARIOUS PARTS HAVE BEEN CHANGED WITH NO RESOLUTION TO DATE .
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AND IT WAS RAINING, AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS DIDN'T WORK AT ALL. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. PARTS HAD TO BE ORDERDERED. *AK

FUEL SMELL INSIDE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT COMING THROUGH AIR CONDITIONING VENTS
WHEN TURNING REAR DEFOGGER ON INSIDE OF VEHICLE, AND WHEN CONSUMER TURNS VEHICLE OFF REAR DEFOGGER STILL STAYS ON FOR DAYS AT A TIME. *AK
FUEL VAPOR ENTERING PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. *AK
MY VEHICLE STALLS AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 40 AND 45 MPH GOING DOWNHILL. IT STARTS RIGHT UP AND THE ON-BOARD COMPUTER DOESN'T STORE ANY INFORMATION. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER FOR REPAIRS 6 TIMES WITH THIS PROBLEM, BUT THEY DON'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. LAST TIME IT HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT A MONTH AGO. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT OTHER PEOPLE BRING THEIR ESCAPES BACK WITH THE SAME ISSUE. *AK
DURING A COLLISION ON FRONT PART OF VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE, CAUSING TOTAL LOSS OF VEHICLE. ALSO, CONSUMER SUSTAINED INJURIES. *AK

WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT THIS VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH FIRESTONE, WILDERNESS/AT TIRES, P23575R16, SIDEWALL BLEWOUT UNEXPECTEDLY. FORD HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK
THERE IS A GASOLINE ODOR THAT COMES THROUGH THE HVAC SYSTEM DURING A WARM RE-START; NEVER ON COLD START. OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE ALSO SEEMS TO HAVE A BEARING ON THE ODOR. THE GASOLINE ODOR IS NOT APPARENT WHEN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 32 DEGREES. THE ODOR SEEMS STRONGEST ON THE RIGHT HAND (PASSENGER) SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.*AK

SINCE DRIVING VEHICLE OFF LOT, I'VE NOTICE A FUEL ODOR COMING FROM THE UNDERHOOD AREA INTO THE PASSENGER CABIN THROUGH THE HEATING/COOLING VENTS. THIS REGULARLY OCCURS DURING WARM RESTARTS AND WHEN IDLING IN TRAFFIC WITH A WARM ENGINE. ODOR IS MORE NOTICABLE WITH DASH VENTS BLOWING. FUEL LINE RECALL WAS ACTED UPON BUT DIDN'T PROVIDE SOLUTION.

EXPERIENCE FUEL SMELL IN CABIN ON WARM RESTART OF TRUCK. MORE PRONOUNCED ON WARM DAYS. STARTED EXPERIENCING FUEL SMELL AT ABOUT 800 MILES. BASED ON OTHER ESCAPE OWNERS COMMENTS, PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE DUE TO A POORLY DESIGNED INTAKE MANIFOLD AND GASKET.

THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE O RINGS, WHICH LEAKS FUEL INTO THE INTERIOR OF THESE CARS. FORD SAYS THEY DO NOT HAVE A FIX AND PEOPLE SHOULD JUST CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE ESCAPES AND MAZDA TRIBUTES WITH THE GASOLINE FUMES, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE HIGHLY TOXIC.*AK

THE REAR SEATS DO NOT HOLD PROPERLY WHEN IN THE SITTING POSITION, THE LOCKING MECHANISM PROVIDED IS NOT ADEQUATE TO HOLD THE SEAT DOWN, CONSUMER BELIEVES SEAT IS POORLY DESIGNED. NLM

ENGINE CHECK LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND STAYS ON. DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX DEFECT 5 TIMES, BUT CANNOT FIX DEFECT EVEN AFTER REPLACING COMPUTER AND WITHIN EMMISSION CONTROL DEVICE SPARTS.
INTERMITTENTLY VEHICLE PULLS TO LEFT OR RIGHT RANDOMLY AT VARIUOS INTENSITY. DEALER HAS ADJUSTED ALIGHMENT TWICE, BUT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS.*AK
POOR GAS MILEAGE. AVERAGING 16 MPG. DEALER TESTED AND FOUND THAT UNDER PERFECT CONDITIONS (NO WIND, NO HILLS, NO ACCERATION, NO STOPPING, ETC) AT 65 MPH IT GOT ONLY 19. THE VEHICLE DOESN'T GET ANYWHERE NEAR THE EPA OF 19 CITY AND 24 HIGHWAY. TOLD ME THIS IS NORMAL FOR FORD VEHICLES.
(1) ENGINE HAS STARTED STALLING AT STOP SIGNS, WAITING FOR SOMEONE IN PARKING LOT, ETC. (2) WHEN MAKING A HARD RIGHT TRUN INTO A PARKING SPACE, THERE IS A KIND OF CLICKING SOUND FROM THE FRONT TIRES AREA.
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN WITHOUT WARNING , CAUSING LOSS OF POWER BRAKES AND STEERING CONTROL, NEARLY CAUSING A COLLISION. DEALER REPLACED ENGINE WHICH HAS NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING TRANSMISSION POPS OUT OF GEAR AND GOES INTO NETURAL, CAUSE UNKNOWN. AFTER VEHICLE IS PARKED FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES IT RETURNS TO NORMAL CONDITIONS. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
TRANSMISSION WOULD LEAK FLUID WHILE PARKED. FUMES WOULD ENTER VEHICLE. HAD TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER 5 TIMES FOR PROBLEM, AND HAD PLUGS AND CASING SEALS REPLACED. PROBLEM OF LEAKAGE WOULD ALWAYS REAPPEAR. *AK
THE BLOWER ON MY A/C WILL START BLOWING THRU THE DEFROST WHEN THE VEHICLE IS UNDER POWER. I LIVE IN A MOUNTAINOUS SUBURB, SO I'M CONSTANTLY CLIMBING HILLS. THE AIR WILL BLOW THRU THE DEFROST FOR ~10 SECONDS WHEN IT FIRST STARTED A WEEK AGO; NOW IT LASTS ~20 SECONDS. PHIL LONG HAS HAD MY TRUCK TWICE. THE FIRST TIME, THE VEHICLE ACTED UP FOR THEM AND THEY FOUND A CRIMPED VACUUM HOSE, YET THE 2ND TIME, THEY COULDN'T GET THE VEHICLE TO ACT UP FOR THEM. AS SOON AS I GOT TO MY SUBURB, IT STARTED CUTTING OUT ON ME.*AK
DRIVING 45-50 MPH WHEN ENGINE JUST SHUT DOWN. HAD ALL LOSS OF POWER INCLUDING STEERING AND BRAKES. COASTED TO EDGE OF ROAD, PLACED GEAR IN PARK AND SAT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND TRIED TO RESTART. WAS SUCCESSFUL AT RESTARTING WITH NO PROBLEM. THIS IS THE FIRST OF TWO INCIDENTS WITHIN A PERIOD OF 5 DAYS. THE SECOND HAPPENED AT 60 MPH. TO AFRAID TO ATTEMPT DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AND AM ON PINS AND NEEDLES EVEN ON RURAL ROADS. MADE APPT WITH DEALER THE FIRST BUSINESS DAY AFTER IT HAPPENED AND THEY ARE TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT ALSO. JIM SNEAD FORD IS REPLACING THE IGNITION STARTER SWITCH HOPING THIS SOLVES THE PROBLEM.*AK

POWER STEERING AND BRAKES GO. HAVE TO MUSCLE CAR TO ROADSIDE. TURNING OFF KEY AND RESTARTING SEEMS TO WORK. HAVE ALSO PUT IN NEUTRAL, TURNED KEY OFF AND RESTARTED, SHIFTING BACK INTO DRIVE. BEEN TO DEALER ONCE LAST WEEK FOR PROBLEM. THEY COULD NOT DETECT OR RECREATE. DEALER CONTACTED FORD HOT-LINE, WHO MADE SUGGESTIONS, TO NO AVAIL. DEALER SAYS THEY NOR FORD HAVE HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. HARD TO BELIEVE THIS. HAVE SPOKEN WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE TWICE, SYMPATHETIC REACTION BUT WITH NO ADVICE OR SOLUTION. HAPPENED AGAIN YESTERDAY. CAR BACK TO DEALER NOW FOR WEEK WHILE ON VACATION. VERY AFRAID I'M GOING TO KILL MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE IN ACCIDENT. EXPRESSED CONCERNS TO DEALER AND FORD. THERE ARE 16 LIKE COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA SIGHT. IS ANYTHING BEING DONE?*AK
DRIVE DOWN A HILL AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH - ENGINE AND OIL LIGHT WENT ON. LOSS OF POWER AND CAR DID NOT APPEAR TO BE GETTING ANY GAS. CAR KEPT RUNNING. *AK

HAD SHIFTED INTO REVERSE TO GET OUT OF PARKING SPACE. THEN, STARTED TO BACK UP, AND VEHICLE HESITATED WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED, SOUNDED FUNNY; RPMS REVVED UP,VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WHILE STILL IN REVERSE. *AK
HAD SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND IT STARTED TO BACKUP. THEN, IT HESITATED WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED, SOUNDED FUNNY. RPMS REVVED UP, AND VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE. VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WHILE STILL IN REVERSE.*AK
ENGINE STALLS WHEN SHIFTING FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE. ENGINE HAS STALLED WHEN COASTING IN TRAFFIC. DEALER CANNOT FIND/REPAIR PROBLEM. *AK
SLUGGISH DRIVING AFTER A OIL CHANGE, COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, NEXT WEEK, SHIFT WENT OUT. AFTER GETTING VEHICLE BACK BRAKE PEDAL SEEMS LOOSE AND THE STEERING WAS NOT RIGHT. WIPER TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, REPLACED.
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE SHUTS ITSELF OFF WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING THE STEERING COLUMN TO LOCK UP, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE, DEALER REPAIRED THE AIR VALVE, AFTER LEAVING REPAIR SHOP VEHICLE SHUTS OFF AGAIN, AND THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATED, CONSUMER REQUESTS THAT FORD REPLACE VEHICLE WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. *TT
THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON DUE TO UNKONOWN ENGINE PROBLEM, AND THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN AT DEALER FOUR TIMES. *YH
THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN PULLING OUT OF A STREET THAT THE CAR COMES TO A STOP; THE RPMS DIE OFF AND PRESSING THE GAS DOES NOTHING, LETTING OFF THE GAS SOMETIMES HELPS BUT IT JUST TAKES A SECOND FOR THE GAS TO WORK, THIS IS SCARRY SINCE I AM USUALLY PULLING OUT ACROSS 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC. I HAVE BEEN TO DO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES FOR THIS BUT THEY CAN NEVER FIND ANYTHING. THE DEALERSHIP CHANGED AN IAC VALVE BUT THE CAR CONTINUES TO HESITATE. THE CAR DID STALL WHILE GOING DOWN A SMALL HILL; THE BRAKES AND STEERING COMPLETELY WENT. I HAD TO TURN OFF CAR AND RESTARTED THE CAR.
