THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL IS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. THE STRUT IS NO LONGER CONNECTED TO THE BODY OF THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL ON THIS ESCAPE IS COMPLETELY ROTTED. A LARGE PIECE OF THE BODY IN THE WHEEL WELL HAS BROKEN AWAY (AROUND 8X8) WITH THE SHOCK ATTACHED. THE LARGE PIECE OF METAL HAS BEEN BOUNCING IN AND OUT OF THE INDOOR STORAGE COMPARTMENT. I NOW HAVE NO SHOCK ABSORPTION ON THAT WHEEL. I HAVE NOTICED NUMEROUS OTHER PEOPLE THAT SHARE THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. FORD HAS REFUSED TO ASSIST THEM WITH THEIR PROBLEM. I WILL BE TAKING THIS VEHICLE TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WITH THE DEMAND THAT THIS BE FIXED AT A REASONABLE PRICE, CONSIDERING THE LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT THIS EFFECTS. *TR
2005 ESCAPE. LOAD BANGING IN RH REAR OVER EVEN VERY SMALL BUMPS. FOUND SHOCK TOWER IN WHEEL WELL HAD RUSTED AWAY. TOP OF SHOCK NOT CONNECTED TO ANYTHING; MOVING AROUND FREELY. LOUD BANGING NOISE IS FROM THE TOP OF SHOCK HITTING THE BODY WHILE DRIVING. UNDRIVEABLE, SHOCK COULD PUNCH THROUGH THE BODY. LOCAL FRAME SHOP HAS REPAIRED SIX 2005'S IN THE PAST YEAR. COST WILL BE $1200, HOWEVER, PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. VEHICLE PARKED UNTIL THE PART CAN BE OBTAINED AND FIXED. *TR
SEVERE RUSTED OUT REAR WHEEL WELLS CAUSING THE PASSENGER REAR SHOCK TO BREAK. CALLED FORD AND THEY STATED NO RECALL FOR 2005 JUST THRU 2004 AND THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. STILL OWE MONEY ON THIS VEHICLE AND NOT SURE WHAT IT IS GOING TO COST FOR LARGE REPAIR. NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. LOOK UP THIS GOOGLE AND YOU WILL FIND TONS OF THIS. *TR
I WAS GOING TO WORK ENTERING INTERSTATE 80 NEAR VALLEJO, CA WHEN AS I WAS ABOUT TO MERGE ONTO THE FREEWAY THE VEHICLE BECAME GRADUALLY UNRESPONSIVE. I HAD TO PULL TO THE RIGHT WHERE THE CAR STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. I THEN PROCEEDED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING OVER 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND STALLED. IN ADDITION, THE STOP SAFELY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT RUST RELATED BUT RATHER THAT THERE WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT WITH THE DRIVE TRAIN. I HEARD A RATTLE IN RIGHT REAR OF ESCAPE. WHEN I INSPECTED THE RIGHT REAR, I FOUND THE WHEEL HOUSE AND SHOCK TOWER IS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. THE REST OF THE ESCAPE SHOWS NO RUST. I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC NOT TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. PARTS FOR THIS REPAIR ARE BACK ORDERED AND I CAN,T GET PART UNTIL DECEMBER AT THE SOONEST. *TR
SEVERE RUST IN THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL- WHERE THE SHOCK MOUNTS. SHOCK IS ABOUT TO PUSH THRU THE RUST INTO THE INSIDE OF CAR. RUST WAS DISGUISED BY UNDERCOATING BY PREVIOUS OWNER OR DEALER. LOUD NOISE WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS, ETC. UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR BRAKE HOSES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE INNER FENDER WHEEL WELL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,800. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAD PURCHASED A USED ESCAPE, IN VERY GOOD CONDITION, IN AUG 2014. I BOUGHT FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER, A FAMILY MEMBER, WITH ONLY 55K MILEAGE OVER THEIR 10 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP (THEY WERE UPGRADING). I DROVE THE CAR AN ADDITIONAL 1,500 MILES HERE (TO 56K, TOTAL) OVER MY FIRST TWO MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, AND THE CAR HAD PASSED ALL ITS REGULAR ANNUAL INSPECTIONS. SUDDENLY ONE NIGHT ON THE ROAD THE CAR'S ENGINE BEGAN CHUGGING WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO TRAVEL BEYOND 45MPH, AND A BLINKING YELLOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED. UPON RESTARTING THAT INDICATOR DID NOT COME BACK ON, BUT THE ENGINE WAS STILL SLUGGISH AND SO I ATTEMPTED TO COAST HOME AT MANAGED SPEEDS (AS I WAS ONLY A MILE AWAY) TO HAVE A MECHANIC CHECK IT OUT DURING BUSINESS HOURS. I DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT HOME. THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON FULL AND I SOON LOST POWER COMPLETELY, WITH BARELY ENOUGH NOTICE TO PULL OFF THE 6 LANE HIGHWAY. THE SUDDEN POWER LOSS SEEMED VERY UNSAFE AS I HAD TO STEER MANUALLY WITH NO POWER STEERING NOR ACCELERATION. AFTER THE CAR STALLED OUT IT WOULD NOT EVEN RESTART FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. I TOWED IT TO A MECHANIC THE NEXT DAY AND THEY READ ME A LONG LIST OF ERROR CODES THAT HAD BEEN IDENTIFIED, ALL OF WHICH WENT BACK TO THE POWER CONTROL MODULE (PCM) FAILURE, APPARENTLY, AS DESCRIBED IN TSB 10-18-10. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS, INCLUDING MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, THAT IT WOULD COST AT LEAST $2,000 TO SERVICE THE PCM AND REPLACE ALL AFFECTED SPARK PLUGS, COILS AND CYLINDERS. DESPITE THE VERY LOW MILEAGE BELOW THE 80K PCM WARRANTY, THE VEHICLE REACTED RATHER SPORADICALLY AND UNPREDICTABLY AND IT CREATED AN UNSAFE CONDITION. I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE BEEN INFORMED SOONER OF THIS KNOWN ISSUE. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL NOTICE SINCE THE PCM IS KNOWN TO CAUSE A HAZARD. I NOW SEE THAT THERE ARE 113 COMPLAINTS LOGGED AT CARCOMPLAINTS.COM, CITING SIMILAR PCM AND/OR ENGINE PROBLEMS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION COILS AND THE ELECTRIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,000.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET WHEN I NOTICED A BANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. WHEN I PARKED THE CAR AND INVESTIGATED I REALIZED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL WAS RUSTED OUT. MY SHOCK IS NOT LONGER ATTACHED TO THE CAR AND EVERY TIME I HIT A BUMP IT SLAMS INTO THE CAR. *TR
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON SO DOES DOME LIGHT AND ALAM GOES OFF EVERY SO OFTEN ON ITS OWN. *TR
RIGHT REAR WHEEL WELL ROTTED OUT CAUSING SHOCK TO BREAK THROUGH TRUNK AND CAUSE LOUD BANGING. FORD CHARGES $1,548.40 TO FIX. NOW AS IN OTHER ESCAPES, YEARS 2001-2004, THE 2005 SUB FRAME OR SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM IS RUSTED THAT HOLDS UP THE ENGINE AND THE FRONT OF THE CAR! THERE IS A VIDEO ON YOUTUBE THAT SHOWS THE CORROSION ON THE PARTICULAR SPOT. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. HIT ONE POTHOLE OR BUMP AND ENTIRE ENGINE AND FRONT OF CAR CAN COLLAPSE! FACEBOOK HAS ENTIRE PAGE FOR 2005 FORD ESCAPE SUB FRAME RUSTING!!! SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT!
HAS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ALL OF A SUDDEN MY TRANSMISSION FAIL. IT SOUND LIKE IT FAIL OUT THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK WENT INTO A NOISE DIVE AND I FAULT TO GET IT OVER TO THE SHOULDER. NO WARNING SIGNS AT ALL. NEVER HAD SLIPPAGE OR NOTHING. CARS BEHIND ME ALL MOST CRASHED INTO ME AND MY FAMILY. HAD MY 2005 FORD ESCAPE IN FOR SERVICE AND MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE IS SEVERE RUST ON UNDERCARRIAGE AND REAR WHEEL WELLS. MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CAR WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION BECAUSE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT THE REAR SHOCK MOUNTS ARE RUSTING THROUGH. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY STATED THAT ONLY THE 2001-2004 MODELS ARE COVERED UNDER THE NEW RECALL AND TO KEEP MY RECEIPTS FOR ANY WORK I HAVE DONE TO FIX IT. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER WITH NO ACCIDENTS AND UNDER 50,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.. *TR
DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED MY FORD ESCAPE 2005 STARTED TO MAKE LOUD BANGING NOISE FROM PASSENGER SIDE, BEHIND THE BACK SEAT. WHEN WE STOPPED THE STRUT HAD COMPLETELY BROKE AWAY FROM CAR BODY AND WAS LOOSE AND BANGING IN THE WHEEL WELL. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME A RECALL WAS DONE FOR 2000-2004 FORD ESCAPES FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT NO RECALL IS AVAILABLE FOR THE 2005. FROM RECALL INFORMATION, IT IS THE EXACT SAME WHEEL -REAR PASSENGER SIDE IN ALL THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW, AND UNSAFE. *TR
REAR PASSENGER WHEEL HOUSE AND STRUT ASSEMBLY FASTENING BRACKET EXHIBIT SEVERE CORROSION AND POSSIBLE DETACHMENT FROM VEHICLE BODY. SUCH AN INCIDENT IS LIKELY TO RESULT IN A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AT CRUISING SPEED. PREVIOUS REPAIRS PERFORMED BY PRIOR OWNER. BODY SHOP CONSULTED AND REPLACEMENT OF AFFECTED PARTS IS NOT ECONOMICALLY FEASIBLE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DISCOVERED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL WAS RUSTED AND CORRODED, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SHOCK ABSORBER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE UNDERBODY WAS RUSTED, THE REAR SHOCK WAS RUSTED ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE, AND A LARGE HOLE NEAR THE REAR WHEEL WELL WAS PRESENT. THE CONTACT REMOVED THE REAR SHOCK, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.

THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL WELL HAS COMPLETELY CORRODED, AND THE SHOCK ABSORBER UPPER MOUNT HAS ALMOST COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE BODY, MAKING THE VEHICLE UNDRIVABLE.. THE LEFT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNT LOOKS LIKE NEW...NO SIGN OF RUST. LOOKING ONLINE AT FORD FORUMS, THERE ARE ALOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF THIS VERY PROBLEM. FURTHERMORE, MODEL YEARS 2001-2004 FORD ESCAPE WERE RECALLED FOR THE VERY SAME PROBLEM. *TR

THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL WELL IS ALL RUSTED OUT AND THE MOUNT FOR THE SHOCK IS BARELY ATTACHED. THIS IS SUSPECT BECAUSE NO OTHER WHEEL WELLS ON THE CAR HAVE CORROSION LIKE THIS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING - AT ANY SPEED - A RATTLING SOUND STARTED FROM THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. RATTLE GOT LOUDER OVER TIME AND BECAME A LOUD BANGING SOUND EVERY TIME WE HIT EVEN THE SLIGHTEST IMPERFECTION IN THE ROAD. UPON INSPECTION THE ENTIRE RIGHT REAR WHEEL WELL IS RUSTED THROUGH; THE ONLY THING HOLDING IN THE SHOCK ON THAT SIDE IS LIGHT PADDING / INSULATION. MECHANIC INDICATED CAR WAS NOT SAFE FOR DRIVING, AS WE COULD FACE A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. WE HAVE FOUND A BODY SHOP WHO QUOTED US AT $1200 FOR THE REPAIR. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY WHO SAID THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS, DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE SAME ISSUE WAS RECALLED ON FORD ESCAPE HYBRIDS FROM 2001-2004. WE WILL BE HOLDING ON TO ALL RECEIPTS, WITH THE HOPE THAT FORD WILL DO THE RIGHT THING AND ISSUE A RECALL / REIMBURSEMENT. *TR
RIGHT REAR WHEEL WELL HAS ON MY 2005 FORD ESCAPE HAS RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH. THE SHOCK ABSORBER IS BANGING AGAINST THE INNER INTERIOR MOLDING WHEN THE VEHICLE GOES OVER A BUMP. THERE ARE LARGE HOLES IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND THE SHOCK ABSORBER IS ABOUT TO SEPARATE ENTIRELY FROM THE WHEEL WELL LEAVING THE SUSPENSION ON THE RIGHT REAR SIDE OF THE VEHICLE COMPROMISED. I BEGAN TO HEAR A THUMPING SOUND FROM THE PASSENGER REAR SIDE LIKE SOMETHING WAS LOOSE. IT TURNS OUT THAT THE WHEEL WELL IS RUSTED THROUGH AND THE SHOCK ABSORBER IS IN DANGER OF BREAKING LOOSE WHICH COULD CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGE AND MAKE THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. *TR
GAS PEDAL GETS STUCK AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD OR IT HESITATES AND MOVES VERY SLOW. *TR
I HAVE PREVIOUSLY FILED A COMPLAINT AFTER TAKING THE ABOVE CAR TO A BODY SHOP WHEN I NOTICED SOME RUSTING IN THE WHEEL WELL AREA. THE BODY SHOP (X3) EXPLAINED THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD (PRIOR TO THE 2001-2004 RECALL). I CONTACTED FORD VIA E-MAIL, AND FILED A COMPLAINT HERE. THE WHEEL WELLS IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WERE PEELING, AND I WAS TOLD THE SHOCK MOUNT WOULD EVENTUALLY PUNCH THROUGH TO THE INSIDE OF MY VEHICLE RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE. THIS WEEKEND, THIS EXACT THING HAPPENED. FORD HAS NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED MY ISSUE, AND I NOTICED THE COMPLAINTS ON DIFFERENTLY ONLINE FORUMS HAVE INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY SINCE I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE. MY VEHICLE IS WELL-CARED FOR WITH ALL APPROPRIATE MAINTENANCE COMPLETED. THE BODY SHOPS I WENT TO DID NOT WANT TO FIX MY VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY FELT FORD NEEDED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. *TR

PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL IS RUSTED OUT AN SEVERAL PLACES TO WERE THAT STRUT MOUNT IS LOOSE AN FALLING APART, AN WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF NOT FIXED. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE ON THAT EXACT TIRE AN THE EXACT YEAR IN THOUSANDS OF FORD ESCAPES. THIS IS OVER $2000 AND IS APPARENT ON DRIVERS SIDE AS WELL. VEHICLE FAILED SAFETY INSPECTION AND WITH 2 SMALL CHILDREN TO TRANSPORT AND NO FUNDS TO REPLACE VEHICLE. I HAVE READ THOUSANDS OF POST ONLINE OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AND WITH RECENT RECALLS FOR SIMILAR BODY/SUSPENSION PART FAILURES IN FORD VEHICLES OF SIMILAR YEARS FEEL THIS IS A RECALL ISSUE. A SEVERE RATTLE STARTED IN THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL WELL OF MY 2005 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID. A BODY SHOP DETERMINED THAT THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL WELL HAD NEARLY COMPLETELY DISINTEGRATED DUE TO RUST AND THAT THE SHOCK MOUNT WAS HANGING BY A THREAD. AN INTERNET SEARCH PERFORMED BY THE SHOP REVEALED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM TO THIS MAKE AND MODEL MANUFACTURED IN THE YEARS AROUND 2005 AND THAT IT OCCURS ONLY THE IN RIGHT REAR WHEEL WELL. THE LEFT REAR WHEEL WELL IS INTACT AND SOLID. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL WELL AND SHOCK TOWER WERE CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL WELL WAS RUSTED AND CORRODED ALONG WITH PART OF THE SUBFRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.

EARLY SEPT 2014 - BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE INTERMITTENT ISSUES OF "LIMP HOME" MODE. ORIGINALLY, ISSUE BEGAN WITH SMALL "SURGES" IN ACCELERATION THAT I BELIEVED WERE SIMPLY RELATED TO THE HYBRID ENGINE KICKING INTO GEAR. THEN EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE BUT RANDOM "LIMP HOME MODE" EVENTS, PARTICULARLY WHEN STOPPING AT LIGHTS OR ACCELERATING (LIGHT-MOD PRESSURE) FROM A FULL STOP. CAR WOULD FLASH "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" AND NOT GO ABOVE 20MPH AND SOMETIMES NOT THAT. WOULD PULL OFF IF ABLE, OTHERWISE, WOULD HAVE TO STOP WITH FLASHERS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, TURN OFF THE ENGINE, WAIT A MINUTE, AND THEN RESTART (REBOOTING CAR). THIS WOULD CLEAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND CAR WOULD RESUME NORMAL OPERATION - OF NOTE: CODES WOULD NOT STAY IN THE HISTORY OF THE COMPUTER. AFTER SEVERAL OCCURRENCES, MANAGED TO "LIMP HOME" TO A MECHANIC WHILE THE LIGHT WAS ON AND PULL CODES BETWEEN 2009-2012 AND WAS ADVISED TO HAVE THE COMPUTER REPROGRAMMED BY FORD SERVICE. CAR BEGAN LIMPING HOME DURING FULL TRAFFIC AND FULL ACCELERATION (NOT STOPPED OR SLOWING), CAUSING A MASSIVE SAFETY CONCERN. NOTED MULTIPLE INVESTIGATIVE MENTIONS ON INTERNET REGARDING 2005-2012 ETB ISSUES, BUT ALSO NOTED THIS WAS THEN ONLY "REPLACED" FOR 2009-2012. APPARENTLY, ANYTHING OLDER THAN 09 IS A LOST CAUSE. 10/23/14 - HAVE CAR IN FORD SERVICE AND RECALL (14S19) HAS BEEN NOTED REGARDING MOTOR ELECTRONICS COOLANT PUMP CAUSING "A FAILURE MODE EFFECTS MANAGEMENT STRATEGY THAT CAN RESULT IN A SUDDEN PARTIAL OR FULL LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER" TO PROTECT VEHICLE POWERTRAIN. BEING CHARGED FOR DIAGNOSTIC EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A RECALL ON THE PART THAT IS LIKELY CAUSING THE PROBLEM. *TR
