I HAD JUST PULLED OUT OF THE GAS STATION WHEN MY BACK GLASS EXPLODED. I WAS THE ONLY VEHICLE THERE AND I WAS HARDLY EVEN GOING 5 MPH! I IMMEDIATELY EXITED MY VEHICLE TO SEE IF ANYTHING HAD HIT IT, AND THERE WAS NOTHING IN OR AROUND MY VEHICLE EXCEPT FOR SHATTERED GLASS. THE GLASS WAS EVERY WHERE; INSIDE THE BACK, ON THE BUMPER, AND EVEN ON TOP OF THE ROOF! I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE! WILLIAM FORD AND MARK FIELDS, I WANT THIS FIXED! IF MY TWO YEAR OLD WERE IN THE CAR HE WOULD BE COVERED IN GLASS! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED AND THE KEY WAS TURNED, THE VEHICLE HAD A LOUD NOISE FROM THE FRONT END, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED AND THE PANEL READ "BRAKE SERVICE NEEDED" IN ADDITION, THE ABS AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER. THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM WAS REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. RIGHT FRONT TONE RING CRACKED CAUSING ABS TO MALFUNCTION AND INABILITY TO BRAKE SAFELY. PART IS A VERY COMMON FAILURE POINT AND FORD SHOULD ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONICS SYSTEM OVERHEATED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V526000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
MY DAUGHTER, JULIE MAYO, WAS DRIVING ON HWY 280 IN BIRMINGHAM, AL WHEN SHE APPROACHED A STOPPED VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY. SHE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE FORD ESCAPE TO AVOID THE CRASH EVEN AFTER APPLYING BRAKES. A SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AT JOE HUDSON'S INDICATED THE THROTTLE WAS STUCK AND THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT 4000 RPM FOLLOWING THE COLLISION. DAMAGES TO THE ESCAPE WERE ESTIMATED AT $5700 INCLUDING FRAME DAMAGE, THEREFORE THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS BY STATE FARM. THE CURRENT FORD ESCAPE RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT EXTEND TO INCLUDE 2007 MODELS. IT SHOULD.
THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON MY HOME STREET AT LOW SPEED WHEN POWER STEERING FAILED SUDDENLY, RESULTING IN MANUAL STEERING ONLY. WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY, VEHICLE WAS THEN PARKED. DASHBOARD ERROR MESSAGE DISPLAYED: SVC POWER STEERING. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V526000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WAS DIFFICULT TO REMOVE FROM THE IGNITION ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND MANEUVER THE KEY FROM THE OFF TO ON POSITION FREQUENTLY IN ORDER TO MOVE THE KEY AND START THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT BECAME STUCK MULTIPLE TIMES. THE BELT HAD TO BE ADJUSTED TO GET OUT OF THE SEAT BELT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
I WAS COMING TO A RED LIGHT AND STARTED TO SLOW DOWN. AT FIRST I HEARD A SQUEALING SOUND AS IF A BELT WAS HAVING A PROBLEM. THEN I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I STARTED TO ACCELERATE TO CROSS THE INTERSECTION. I STARTED TO MAKE A TURN AND AS I WAS DOING THIS THE FORD ESCAPE ON ITS OWN STARTED TO ACCELERATE. I TRIED TO BRAKE, HOWEVER, THE CAR JUST CONTINUED TO LUNGE FORWARD. BY THAT TIME I WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND PUSHED ON THE BRAKES AS HARD AS I COULD WHILE THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. AT THAT POINT IT COMPLETELY STOPPED. I THEN CALLED A TOWING COMPANY AND THEY TOWED IT TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. I HAVE NOW BEEN TOLD THAT THE CAR HAS AN INTERNAL TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION. THEY HAVE ALSO SAID IT WILL BE THERE FOR ABOUT 3 TO 4 WEEKS. *TR
AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES ON THE FREEWAY, A "STOP SAFELY NOW" MESSAGE CAME UP (WITHOUT ANY OTHER WARNING) AND OUR CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND SPEED IMMEDIATELY. I WAS IN THE CARPOOL LANE AND THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC ON THE 210 FREEWAY WAS AROUND 70 MPH. I HAD TO CUT ACROSS 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND WAS BARELY ABLE TO MAKE IT BEFORE MY CAR LOST POWER COMPLETELY. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY HUSBAND OR I IN THE PAST YEAR. (EACH SITUATION WAS SIMILAR TO THIS ONE?AND EQUALLY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THERE IS ZERO WARNING). THE CAR STARTED UP AGAIN IMMEDIATELY AND I WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE FREEWAY BEFORE IT HAPPENED AGAIN A FEW MINUTES LATER ON SIDE STREETS. I BELIEVE THIS IS RELATED TO THE HYBRID COOLANT PUMP DEFECT THAT I HAVE SEEN OTHERS WRITING ABOUT ONLINE?ALL OF THE DESCRIPTIONS OF THE ENGINE FAILURE ARE SIMILAR. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY! *TR
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES AND BEEPS WHILE THE OVERHEAD LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING FOR NO REASON. SOMETIMES IT CONTINUES FOR A FEW MINUTES AND OTHER TIMES IT GOES ON AND ON UNTIL I STOP THE CAR AND SLAM ALL THE DOORS ON MY CAR SHUT. MY CAR ALARM ALSO GOES OFF ALL BY ITSELF FOR NO REASON, PROBABLY RESULTING FROM THIS SAME PROBLEM. I UNDERSTAND FROM ONLINE POSTS THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH FORD VEHICLES. FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE WAS AN ALERT ON THE DASH READING ?STOP SAFELY NOW!? AND THE VEHICLE POWER (ENGINE) CUT OUT. *TR
ON FRIDAY JULY 18TH 2014 @ 5:42 PM I WAS DRIVING MY SUV AND I GOT 3 ERRORS 1. THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON 2. THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND 3. THE INFORMATION PANEL SAID SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM. WHEN I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY I NOTICED MY BREAKS WERE NOT RESPONDING I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE CAR ON NEUTRAL PUT MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND PULLED THE HAND BREAK WHICH HAD NO EFFECT. I PUMPED THE BREAKS AND NO RESPONSE FROM THE CAR, I TOOK OFF THE HAND BREAK AND TRIED IT AGAIN AND THEN CAR WAS STILL NOT RESPONDING. THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED SINCE THE EXIT WAS UPHILL, I USED MY PHONE TO CHECK THE ERROR CODES SINCE I HAVE AN OBD2 CODE READER AND THE 2 FOLLOWING CODES CAME UP 1.GENERIC OBD ERROR CODE DETAILS FOR U0418 INVALID DATA RECEIVED FROM BRAKE SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE 2. MAZDA OBD ERROR CODE DETAILS FOR U2023 ABNORMAL MESSAGE FROM PCM I SHUT THE CAR DOWN AND IMMEDIATELY TURN IT BACK ON AND THE ERRORS STILL CAME UP I TRIED TO DRIVE A FEW FEET TO TEST THE BREAKS BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE, I THEN SHUT THE CAR DOWN AGAIN FOR 3 MINUTES THEN TURNED IT BACK ON AND ALL ERRORS WHERE GONE AND MY BREAKS WORKED. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR HOME WITHOUT ANY FURTHER INCIDENTS. *TR
O/D LIGHT CAME ON SUDDENLY. WAS DRIVING AT 40MPH. I COULD FEEL IT DROPPING OUT OF GEAR, BEING SLOW TO ACCELERATE AND IT WOULD REV PERIODICALLY. I CALLED FORD CORPORATE, THEY TOOK DOWN THE COMPLAINT BUT OTHER THAN THAT; NOTHING. WE DID A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH 'FORD ESCAPE 2007 O/D LIGHT' AND IMMEDIATELY SAW AT LEAST SIXTY COMMENTS THAT ALL DETAILED THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM (WHICH IS CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THE REP FROM FORD HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE, WHICH IS ODD CONSIDERING THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO ALL HAVE FORD ESCAPE'S & ALL ARE 07. SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG & A RECALL SHOULD'VE ISSUED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO A FRIENDS HOUSE AND 2ND GEAR AND FOURTH GEAR STARTED NOT TO ENGAGE ONLY 2ND GEAR WOULD AT 4,000 RPMS. 4TH GEAR WILL NOT ENGAGE AT ALL THE CAR HAS ONLY 119,235 MILES AND I HAVE KEPT GOOD SERVICE ON IT. I HAD THE FLUID FLUSHED AND STILL DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I SPOKE TO A PERSON THAT SAID THAT THEY WILL TRY TO FLASH THE COMPUTER. HOPE IT WORKS I ALSO HOPE THAT I DON'T END UP IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE ROAD BECAUSE THE GEAR LUNCHES INTO 2ND CAUSING THE TRUCK TO JERK FORWARD. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ALONG A FAIRLY BUSY HIGHWAY IN PENNSYLVANIA. THE ENGINE ALL OF SUDDEN STOPPED AND THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IN BUSY TRAFFIC. LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER AND WAITED FOR THE CAR TO COOL. IT RESTARTED AND THEN AGAIN DID THE SAME THING SEVERAL MILES DOWN THE ROAD. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON 19 JULY 2014 ALONG SMALL TOWN ROAD NOT FAR FROM HOME. THE CAR WAS BARELY WARM. WE HAD REPLACED THE BATTERY PACK AIR FILTER ON 17 JULY 2014, THINKING THAT THIS MAY HAVE CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THERE IS 'STOP SAFELY NOW 'MESSAGE THAT APPEARS JUST BEFORE IT SUDDENLY STOPS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT SOMEONE HAS NOT DONE A RECALL ON THIS. *TR
WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, MY CAR SUDDENLY BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT LIT UP, AND THE DIGITAL READ-OUT SAID TO SERVICE THE POWER STEERING. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER TWO DAYS AGO. THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. THEY ARE NOW REPLACING THE MODULE, BUT ADVISED THAT MAY NOT WORK; IF IT DOES NOT, THEY SAY THE STEERING RACK WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. I AM AWARE OF FORD'S RECENTLY ANNOUNCED RECALL OF 2008 AND LATER ESCAPES FOR POWER STEERING FAILURES. AFTER DISCUSSING THAT WITH THE DEALER, I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE. HE SAID MY CAR IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. I TOLD HIM I UNDERSTOOD THAT, BUT PERHAPS THEIR RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED. HE ASKED WHY I WAS CALLING, AND I SAID THE DEALER HAD TOLD ME TO CALL AND START THE CLAIMS PROCESS. AT FIRST, HE TOLD ME THERE WAS NO CLAIM I COULD MAKE BECAUSE THE RECALL DOESN'T COVER MY CAR, BUT ULTIMATELY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER. (I DON'T KNOW IF HE ACTUALLY A CLAIM OR JUST GAVE ME A NUMBER TO GET ME OFF THE PHONE.) *TR
HIT SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD AT 60 MILES PER HOUR, HEARD A LOUD CLUNK FROM THE RIGHT REAR. VEHICLE BEGAN TO PITCH UP AND DOWN AND SIDE TO SIDE. WENT OVER ANOTHER BUMP IN THE ROAD AND STARTED TO LOSE CONTROL. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO SAFE STOP. INVESTIGATED RIGHT REAR WHEEL AND DISCOVERED THE SHOCK ABSORBER WAS DISCONNECTED FROM THE FRAME. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR FORD ESCAPES. HOWEVER, NO RECALLS, NO NOTICES TO OWNERS OF ANY POTENTIAL HAZARD. THE NEXT OWNER MAY NOT BE AS FORTUNATE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY, THE CAR ABRUPTLY LOST POWER AND A STOP SAFELY NOW LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR WAS COASTING ON THE FREEWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. IT WAS AS IF IT WAS SUDDENLY IN NEUTRAL. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE WHEN I REACHED THE EDGE OF THE ROAD AND HAD ACCELERATION AGAIN. I WAS STRANDED WITH MY CHILDREN SO I ATTEMPTED TO GO AT A VERY SAFE SPEED IN THE SLOW LANE. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED ANOTHER 3 TIMES BEFORE REACHING HOME. UPON RESEARCH, THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH ESCAPE HYBRIDS. I CALLED FORD CUST. SERVICE AND AFTER REPORTING MY ISSUE, THE REPRESENTATIVE SAID HE HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF SUCH PROBLEMS AND WAS ACTUALLY RUDE TO ME. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER AND HE SAID THE COMMON ISSUE WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. NOW, I HAVE AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE CAR WITH A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND APPEAR TO BE GETTING NO ASSISTANCE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY FROM THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA TO THE CITY OF SANTEE ON INTERSTATE 5 GOING NORTH AT 65 MPH WHEN THE FORD ESCAPE HYBRID 2007 SUDDENLY SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY. A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD SAYING, "SAFELY PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD". FORTUNATELY TRAFFIC WAS NOT HEAVY AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE EMERGENCY LANE UNTIL HELP COULD ARRIVE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT IT. *TR
UPON REVERSING FROM A PARKED POSITION AND THEN SLOWLY MOVING FORWARD THERE IS A LOUD RATTLING SOUND, MY DAUGHTER WHO HAS THE SAME VEHICLE PURCHASED ONE MONTH PRIOR TO MINE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND WAS REQUIRED TO HAVE THE MOTOR MOUNTS REPLACED. I AM SURE THAT IF TWO OF US HAD THE SAME PROBLEM SO MUST OTHER ESCAPE OWNERS. IT COST MY DAUGHTER $1000 TO HAVE HERS REPLACED, UNFORTUNATELY I AM UNABLE TO AFFORD THAT SO MY VEHICLE SITS IDLE. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED THIS IS AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE FOR WHICH I BELIEVE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. *TR
ON A TRIP FROM CINCINNATI OH TO BLOOMINGTON IN, ROUGHLY 140 MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO APPARENT DRIVEABILITY ISSUES. THE RETURN TRIP A FEW HOURS LATER, HOWEVER, ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER SHOWING THE MESSAGE "PULL OVER SAFELY IMMEDIATELY". IT WAS DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT POWER, AND VERY FRIGHTENING. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO START AND RUN THE VEHICLE AGAIN FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES BEFORE EXPERIENCING THE POWER LOSS AGAIN. AFTER A TOW AND OIL CHANGE I WAS SENT ON MY WAY ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE GETTING ANOTHER TOW ALL THE WAY HOME. MY CAR HAD BEEN PARKED FOR 13 HOURS AND THE CONDITIONS WERE 55 DEGREES AND RAINY. CONTACTED CONTINENTAL TIRES AND THEY ARE ONLY WILLING TO REPAIR THE DRIVERS SIDE OF MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I DIDN'T SAVE THE BLOWN TIRE TO MAIL TO THEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO PERFORMED AN INSPECTION AND LOCATED THE FAILURE IN THE ELECTRIC WATER PUMP MOTOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHILE TRAVELING ON A TURNPIKE WITH FEW EXIT RAMPS AND LIMITED SHOULDER CLEARANCE, THE VEHICLE SIMULTANEOUSLY LOST ALL POWER AND DISPLAYED THE WARNING TRIANGLE ("TRIANGLE OF DEATH") AND THE INFORMATION DISPLAY INDICATED "STOP SAFELY NOW". THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION AND MANUAL CONSULTED. THE MANUAL INDICATED THIS WAS A HYBRID SYSTEM FAULT/FAILURE AND ADVISED ON ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND TAKING IT TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THE RESTART WAS SUCCESSFUL AND TRAVELING CONTINUED FOR ANOTHER 15 MILES BEFORE THE SAME EXACT SCENARIO REPEATED. THE FORD DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THIS PROBLEM AS A FAILURE OF THE MOTOR ELECTRONIC COOLING SYSTEM (MECS)--A WELL DOCUMENTED FAILURE (AND A DANGEROUS ONE) THAT PLAGUES MANY FORD ESCAPE HYBRIDS. *TR

I CANNOT DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR. IT OCCURS AFTER AROUND 1 MILE OF DRIVING DURING THE FIRST TRIP OF THE DAY. IT HAS OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY FOR THE PAST YEAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO FORD BUT THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM AND REQUIRED THAT I LEAVE THE CAR OVERNIGHT WHICH I COULD NOT DO. TODAY WAS THE FIRST DAY THAT I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BECAUSE I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. *JS
THE TONE RING WHICH INPUTS PULSES TO THE ABS COMPUTER FAILS ON MANY MANY FORD ESCAPES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE ABS COMPUTER APPLIES THE BRAKES IN ABS MODE EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS ON DRY PAVEMENT. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE, MAKING DIRECTIONAL CONTROL DIFFICULT. THIS CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTS! THERE IS ONE HALL EFFECT RING ON EACH WHEEL. THE GAS ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER COASTING FROM HIGHWAY SPEED TO AROUND 35 MPH. THE VEHICLE REMAINED UNDER HYBRID ELECTRIC POWER ALLOWING ME TO MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MY VEHICLE IS AROUND 7.5 YEARS OLD AND HAS 89,000 MILES. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND IT APPEARS TO HAVE OCCURRED WITH SEVERAL OF THESE TYPE VEHICLES. THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT THEY RETRIEVED ERROR CODES P1AOD, P0A3E, B139. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT IT REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE HYBRID DRIVE TRAIN MOTOR ELECTRONICS COOLING SYSTEM (MECS) WATER PUMP (PART# 5M6Z8C419A) AND (PART# AL8Z19E66F). THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) 08-24-5 THAT SEEMS TO RELATE TO SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THE PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER 8 YEAR /100,000 MILE HYBRID WARRANTY ACCORDING TO FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS DESPITE BOTH PARTS BEING PART OF THE HYBRID DRIVE SYSTEM. *TR

ABS LIGHT AND LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY SIGNALED UNTIL CAR LURCHED AND SHUDDERED. DEALER REPLACED A BRAKE HOSE AND THEN PERFORMED A MULTI-POINT INSPECTION INDICATING THAT THE OTHER BRAKE LINES WERE FINE. THEN ON MARCH 31, 2014, THE ABS LIGHT AND LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. TWO OTHER HOSES ARE NOW DEFECTIVE AND SUGGESTED THAT I REPLACE THE LAST ONE AS WELL. GIVEN THAT IT COSTS SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS TO BLEED AND RECALIBRATE THE BRAKE SYSTEM FLUID ON A HYBRID, I'M CONCERNED THAT DEFECTIVE BRAKE LINES ARE EITHER A) NOT NOTED WHEN MULTI-POINT INSPECTIONS ARE DONE, OR B) CAN DEGENERATE WITHIN TWO MONTHS TIME, AS IN THE DATE THEY WERE DEEMED SAFE IN JANUARY TO THE DATE THEY WERE IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT 60 DAYS LATER. *TR

CAR WAS PARKED. REAR WINDOW EXPLODED AND BURN MARKS WERE SEEN ON THE GLASS. THUS FAR OUR COST TO REPLACE THE WINDOW AND WIPER BLADE MOTOR AND BLADE HAS BEEN 460 DOLLARS. WE FILED AN INSURANCE CLAIM BUT THE WINDOW REPAIR CAME IN UNDER THE DEDUCTIBLE. THE WIPER MOTOR WAS CONSIDERED TO BE WEAR AND TEAR AND THUS WAS NOT COVERED. I HOPE A RECALL WILL BE ISSUED TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM SINCE IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE ACCORDING TO POSTS WE HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET. *TR

I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE OF THE INTERSTATE AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN - THERE WAS NO SHOULDER AND TRAFFIC WAS TOO HEAVY TO COAST ACROSS LANES. I FOUND A SERVICE STATION THAT WAS OPEN ON SUNDAY EVENING. THEY SAID MY COOLANT WAS FINE, THE OIL LEVEL WAS FINE, AND THEY COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING OBVIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I ELECTED TO CONTINUE MY TRIP ANOTHER 50 MILES AND THE PROBLEM OCCURRED 2 MORE TIMES. I KEPT THE SPEED UNDER 70, RAN BY HEATER ON FULL BLAST IN CASE THE PROBLEM WAS TEMPERATURE RELATED, AND COASTED AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE. EACH TIME THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN, I SLOWED TO THE SHOULDER, TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, WAITED 5 MINUTES, THEN STARTED AGAIN. THE SERVICE RESULTS ARE STILL INCONCLUSIVE, BUT IT SEEMS THERE ARE A LOT OF OWNERS EXPERIENCING THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF OF THE ENGINE PUT ME IN AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
