TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING ASSIST AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE THE MESSAGE 'POWER STEERING' DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHILE THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE LOCAL DEALER OLATHE FORD (1845 E. SANTA FE ST. OLATHE, KS) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,000.
STEERING WHEEL SHAKES BACK AND FORTH AT IDLE WHILE STATIONARY AND PARKED. MY RESEARCH REVEALS THAT IT IS A SYMPTOM OF THE FAILURE OF THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR IN THE STEERING COLUMN. IT SEEMS LIKE IT WOULD BE COVERED IN FORD RECALL 14S05, OR RECALL #14V284000 BUT A CANNOT FIND MY VIN NUMBER INCLUDED IN THESE RECALLS
FRAME ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE IS RUSTED THROUGH CAUSING WHEEL TO BE DETACHED FROM FRAME AND ALSO CONTROL ARM. TOLD NOT TO DRIVE CAR AT ALL UNTIL FRAME IS FIXED. SAFETY ISSUE. VEHICLE IS KEPT IN A GARAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING INSPECTED.
STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION GETTING WORSE BY DAY SEAT BELTS IN BACK DON'T WORK PROPERLY . SOMETIMES DONT WORK AT ALL BREAKS DONT WORK AFTER CARWASH.
THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD OCCASIONALLY SHAKE ~1' IN EITHER DIRECTION FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS WHILE IDLING FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS; DID THAT 4/5 TIMES EACH DAY. IT WOULD STOP WHILE DRIVING. THE 3RD DAY A SENSOR ALARM WENT OFF ABOUT 60 SECONDS APART AND BY THE 4TH TIME, IT FINALLY SAID THIS ERROR MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT'. ALL OF THIS PART OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, GETTING ONTO THE EXIT RAMP, ONTO THE MAIN ROAD, THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND PARKING INTO MY DRIVEWAY. WHEN LOOKING UP THE CODE, THIS WAS LISTED FOR A RECALL. 1 TECH AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A PART OF THE RECALL. ANOTHER TECH SAID IT WAS NOT AFTER ALL AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. THEY INSISTED IT WAS ONLY FOR A FEW VEHICLES YET IT IS THE SAME EXACT RECALL WARNING LISTED. AMERICAN CORPORATIONS AND GOVERNMENT BODIES LACK COMMON SENSE WHILE THRIVING ON GREED AND CONTROL. OBVIOUSLY THE EXACT SAME PARTS WERE USED AND THE EXACT SAME RECALL HAS BEEN LISTED, BUT MAGICALLY DUE TO GREED AND POOR COMMON SENSE, I AM BEING TOLD TO JUMP OFF A CLIFF. LET'S FINALLY TAKE CARE OF WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE AND BUILD TRUST TO ONE ANOTHER. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMMENTS STATING THE EXACT SAME THING IN WHICH FORD REFUSES TO FIX THIS. NHTSA, YOU ARE OFFICIALLY ON NOTICE TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT AND NECESSARY AND MAKE FORD FIX THIS FOR EVERYONE AND NOT WHOM THEY SO CHOOSE. TIRED OF THE GOVERNMENT BEING BLAMED FOR EVERYTHING? ME TOO. SO FOR ONCE DO SOMETHING TO TRULY SHOVE THE BILLION DOLLAR CORPORATIONS DO WHAT THEY PROMISE TO DO AND STOP WORRYING ABOUT A CEO'S 7 FIGURE SALARY AND HURTING THEIR FEELINGS. DO SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE PLEASE AND STOP WAITING FOR MULTIPLE DEATHS TO OCCUR BEFORE YOU HAVE A MEETING WITH A CATERED LUNCH AND STARBUCKS TO DISCUSS YOUR FEELINGS ON THE MATTER. COMMON SENSE SAYS PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE WORKS!!!!
STEERING WHEEL SHAKING VIGOROUSLY WHEN IDLE AND LOW SPEEDS. FULL POWER STEERING LOSS, WITH POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAULT CODE SHOWN.
WHILE DRIVING THE POWER TRAIN WILL REVE UP LIKE IT MISS A GEAR AND THEN RESUME TO NORMAL, SOMETIMES IT WILL SHIFT GEARS ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING AND HIT REAL HARD, LIKE A CLUTCH; THIS HAPPENS QUITE OFTEN DURING DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.
WHEN DRIVING BATTERY LIGHT COMES ALL LIGHTS ON DASH GOES OUT THEN EVENTUALLY WILL COME BACK ON, THERE IS A CLICKING NOISE ON THE DASH THEN THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT N THE HEAT WILL GO OFF N ON PERIODICALLY. I'VE SEEN OTHERS COMPLAIN REGARDING SAME ISSUE ON BLOGS. THIS HAPPENS EVERYDAY SEVERAL TIMES
STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO WIGGLE OR TWITCH WHEN PARKED OR DRIVING. SOMETIMES FAST AND OTHER TIMES SLOW. FORD SHOULD RECALL UNDER CODE 14S05. STEERING IS GOING OUT BECAUSE OF COMPUTER TORQUE MISFIRING. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND IS HAPPENING TO 100S OF PEOPLE.
FAILURE OF THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR B2278. WHEN DRIVING OR IDLING, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL TURN BY ITSELF AS THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR FAILS. FORD DEALERSHIP CLOSED THE RECALL WITHOUT PERFORMING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SENSOR BASED ON REMEDIES RECOMMENDED IN RECALL 14S05. FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEIR RECALL WAS NOT COMPLETED CORRECTLY AND WILL NOT HONOR RECALL TO REPLACE FAILING SENSOR
POWER STEERING WAS LOST WHILE DRIVING. POWER STEERING IS NOW IN MANUAL MODE. POWER ASSISTED STEERING HAS FAILED. DEALER SAYS THAT THIS VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL THAT HAS AFFECTED SEVERAL OTHERS. SAME COMPONENTS AS OTHER RECALLED ESCAPES. AS FORD DEALER CHARGED $150 TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE.
FUEL INLET LIGHT FUEL FILLER NECK DEFECTIVE CAUSING A GAS LEAK CAN NOT PUMP GAS
FUEL LEAKING ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FUEL NECK BROKE.
FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS OR SO, WHEN I HAVE TURNED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. I WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE KEY BACK TO THE OFF POSITION & TRY REPEATEDLY TO TURN THE KEY ALL THE WAY FORWARD TO FINALLY GET THE VEHICLE TO START. BECAUSE OF PAST PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE ENGINE DYING SUDDENLY ON ME & IN PARTICULAR A COUPLE TIMES WHEN I WAS TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL & MY RIGHT HAND HAPPEN TO GENTLY BRUSH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION.... I NOW WONDERED IF I COULD START THE ENGINE MY SIMPLY GENTLY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE NEXT TIME I TURNED THE KEY ALL THE WAY FORWARD TO START THE ENGINE & NOTHING HAPPENED I KEPT THE KEY TURNED ALL THE WAY FORWARD IN THE IGNITION & TRIED TO GENTLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL... THE ENGINE CAME RIGHT ON. QUITE ALARMING & SCARY TO THINK THAT YOU CAN TURN THE ENGINE ON BY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. EXPLAINS WHY THE ENGINE EASILY TURNED OFF IN THE PAST WHEN MY RIGHT HAND BARELY TOUCHED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION & I LOST POWER STEERING. PERHAPS FORD'S SAFETY RECALL 14V-284 WAS ACTUALLY ABOUT THIS PROBLEM & NOT THE TORQUE SENSOR THEY CLAIMED... THAT SITUATION INVOLVED AN ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAULT & LOSS OF POWER STEERING AS WELL. A LOCAL FORD DEALER (1-7-2020) CHARGED ME $618 TO REPLACE THE LOCK HOUSING & THE PROBLEM HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE. HOPEFULLY I DON'T LOSE POWER STEERING AGAIN ANY TIME SOON AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAS JUST OVER A 100,000 MILES & HAS BEEN HORRIBLY HORRIBLY HORRIBLY UNRELIABLE. WE BOUGHT THIS JUNK BRAND NEW & NEITHER FORD NOR THE DEALER HAVE EVER REACHED OUT TO US TO RIGHT THIS WRONG. NEARLY $40,000 WASTED FOR AN UNRELIABLE VEHICLE THAT I WOULD BE LUCKY TO GET $3,000 FOR ON A TRADE-IN NOT TO MENTION THAT I AM SCARED A NEW UNAWARE OWNER COULD LOSE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY & NOT KNOW HOW TO REACT.... ESPECIALLY @ HIGH SPEED & IN A TURN IN A ROAD. GOD HELP YOU IF YOUR NOT STRONG & CALM.
I WAS DRIVING IN WET WEATHER AND SLID ON SOME LEAVES WHILE BRAKING. THIS CAUSED AN ACTIVATION OF THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS). AFTER THE ABS EVENT I HAD A DIFFICULT TIME STOPPING THE CAR. THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT SPONGY AND IT TOOK ALL OF MY EFFORT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP. THIS SPONGY BRAKES PERSISTED FOR SEVERAL MILES. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY CAR TO MY NEIGHBORHOOD MECHANIC. HE CHECKED THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. THE BRAKE SYSTEM HAD RETURNED TO NORMAL BY ITSELF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING 60 MPH, AN ODOR OF FUEL EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE ATTRIBUTED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V777000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 215,000.
WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WILL SHUT OFF SUDDENLY AFTER A SMALL "CLICK" SOUND AND THE POWER STEERING IS SUDDENLY GONE. THE BATTERY SYMBOL WILL LIGHT UP RANDOMLY. ALL OF THE ELECTRIC COMPONENTS WILL FAIL WHEN THE STEERING DOES, INCLUDING THE ENTIRE DASH, HEAT/AC, RADIO, HEATED SEATS. IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS MULTIPLE TIMES. SOMETIMES THE CAR WORKS PERFECTLY, OTHER TIMES THE POWER STEERING REFUSES TO REENGAGE FOR A WHILE. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING FORWARD AND REVERSING. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER WHAT SPEED I'M GOING, IF IT DECIDED TO SHUT OFF IT'S JUST GONE.
TO ISSUE A RECALL REQUIRING TO REPLACE THE SUB-FRAME AND REPAIR ANY DAMAGE FROM A BAD FRAME. CONTROL ARM AND OTHER CONNECTING SUSPENSION PARTS WILL SEPARATE FROM FRAME AND OR SUB-FRAME WHICH CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS AND OR FATAL INJURIES. THIS VEHICLE HAS ROTTING FRAME/SUB-FRAME AND THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHER FORD ESCAPES HAS BEEN REPORTED MANY TIMES TO FORD. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE RESOLVED ASAP AS SERIOUS INJURIES/DEATH WILL RESULT IF NOT ADDRESSED.ALONG WITH FORDS REPUTATION OF DOING THE RIGHT THING. THANK YOU
THE POWER STEERING FAILED, MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. SHORTLY BEFORE THE FAILURE, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO VIBRATE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE BACKING OUT ON THE DRIVEWAY AND TURNING TO PULL OUT , THANKFULLY NOT ON A PUBLIC STREET OR WHILE NAVIGATING THE CANYON ROADS IN OUR AREA. THE DATE OF THE INCIDENT WAS DECEMBER 30, 2019.
HAD TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY STOP. THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGED AND THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. AFTERWARDS I HAD NO BRAKE. CAR HAS BEEN IN FOUR DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS AND I HAVE SPENT OVER $2000. I HAVE HAD FRONT BRAKES AND REAR BRAKES REPLACED, MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED AND A USED ABS MODULE REPLACED. STILL DO NOT HAVE PROPER BRAKE. FOUND SERVICE NOTICE ONLINE FROM FORD #19S54 WHICH ADDRESSES THIS ISSUE ON SOME FORD VEHICLES AND STATES A RECALL IS IN PROGRESS.. ESCAPE IS NOT INCLUDED BUT PROBLEMS ARE THE SAME. SIMILAR PARTS ARE USED ON MANY FORD VEHICLES. ESCAPE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN RECALL. MY CAR IS USELESS WITHOUT BRAKES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER, JERKED, AND THE WRENCH ICON ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO VEER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
FUEL PUMP CRACKED (PART #PFS534) IN 2010 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID 2.5L ENGINE SIMILAR TO RECALL ON OTHER FORD ESCAPES WITH 3.0L ENGINE. CRACKED FUEL PUMP CAUSED VAPOR LEAK ENGINE LIGHT. VEHICLE WOULD STILL OPERATE BUT STRONG FUEL SMELL WAS COMING FROM THE FUEL TANK AREA AND WITHIN THE VEHICLE. I WAS SURPRISED THAT THE RECALL ONLY IMPACTED 3.0L ENGINE FUEL PUMP AND NOT OTHER FORD ESCAPES, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT SEEMS LIKE THEY ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND LIKELY HAVE A VERY SIMILAR PART.
EXHAUST HOSE UNDER VEHICLE DRIVE SIDE LEAKED CAUSING EXHAUST CREEP INTO CABIN WITH EXCESSIVE STRONG GAS SMELL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE CABIN BOTH STATIONARY AND IN MOTION.
WHILE DRIVING MY ESCAPE I LOST ALL POWER STEERING CONTROL. ERROR NOTED WAS POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT.
FORD VERY WELL KNOWS THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILS UNEXPECTEDLY. THEY ARE PUTTING $$$ OVER SAFETY.

THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. COVERT FORD (8950 RESEARCH BLVD, AUSTIN, TX) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED AGAIN AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULTY INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS AN UNKNOWN RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL, AND TRIED TO UP SELL AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE CONTACT RETRIEVED THE PAPERWORK WITH THE DIAGNOSTIC CODES FROM THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WENT REDLANDS FORD INC. (1121 W COLTON AVE, REDLANDS, CA 92374, (909) 793-3211). THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE DEALER REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
FAULTY ABS MODULE FROM FACTORY CAUSING 'SOFT' BRAKES THAT LIMIT STOPPING ABILITY AND POTENTIALLY FATAL RESULT. MANY FORD ESCAPE OWNERS SUFFERING SAME ISSUE BUT THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL DESPITE IT BEING A FACTORY FAULT.
TL* THE CONTACT'S FRIEND OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE THROTTLE CONTROL AND POWER TRAIN INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT'S FRIEND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED AND ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH CORWIN FORD TRI CITIES (1225 N AUTOPLEX WAY, PASCO, WA 99301, 509-544-8000) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE; THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,402.
ONLY 85000 MILES ON VEHICLE - BOTH REAR WHEEL WELLS RUSTED THROUGH
TURNING THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AT LOW SPEED GAVE THE MESSAGE 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT'. DROVE HOME AND PARKED. WENT TO LEAVE LATER AND THE POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY GONE. DIAGNOSIS AT MECHANIC SAID IT IS POWER STEERING TORQUE SENSOR. CONTACTED FORD DEALERSHIP WAS DIRECTED TO FORD CANADA. FORD CANADA SAYS WE CAN'T HELP YOU TRY YOUR DEALERSHIP. MANY CALLS LATER THEY FIND A DOCUMENT THAT SAYS SINCE I HAD THE COMPUTER UPGRADE WHICH PREVENTS ME FROM LOSING POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING I AM. OR ELIGIBLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TORQUE SENSOR WHICH IS COVERED IN FORDS 14S05 RECALL OF 'CERTAIN' FORD ESCAPES/MARINERS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN APRIL 2006 AND SEPTEMBER 2010 (MINE IS EARLY 2010). MOSTLY OUT OF KANSAS. THOUGH WHAT HAPPENED TO ME IS EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. GUESS I SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD THE SOFTWARE UPDATE?
PULLING INTO PARKING SPOT LOST POWER STEERING COMPLETELY. MORE THEN ONCE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS
IGNITON SWITCH FAILS TO WORK HALF THE TIME TURN KEY WILL NOT START WITHOUT EXCESSIVE TRIES
WHILE DRIVING IN A VARIETY OF CIRCUMSTANCES, (IN TOWN AT STOPLIGHT AND ACCELERATING ON HIGHWAY) MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE WILL JUST SHUT OFF. NO WARNING, JUST DIES. I HAVE BEEN TO 4 MECHANICS INCLUDING ONE AT A FORD DEALER JUST TODAY. NO CODES SHOW, SO EVERY TIME I AM BASICALLY TOLD THAT THEY "CAN'T DUPLICATE ISSUE" AND I AM SENT ON MY WAY WITH NO REMEDY FOR WHAT IS A VERY DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION. I JUST CALLED FORD AND STARTED A CASE NUMBER TO SEE WHAT THEY WILL DO. JUDGING FROM OTHER COMMENTS I HAVE READ ON INTERNET, I AM NOT HOPEFUL. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY A RECALL WASN'T ISSUED AND HOW I AM JUST LEARNING ABOUT THE SCOPE OF THE PROBLEM NOW-AFTER SPENDING $20K ON THIS VEHICLE.

A YEAR AGO BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON/OFF. HAD FRONT BRAKE LINE CHANGED. BRAKE SYSTEM CAME ON AGAIN OFF & ON OPERATING OKAY UNTIL A MONTH AGO THE ABS LIGHT WITH BRAKE SYSTEM ON AND VEHICLE HAD NO BRAKE CONTROL FORWARD AND BACKWARD. HAD BRAKES PADS CHANGED AND HOSES FOR BRAKE SYSTEM CHECKED. AND STILL ABS + BRAKE SYSTEM CAME ON AND NO BRAKE CONTROL. HAD CAR TOWED FROM HOME TO DEALERSHIP. ASKED IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS FOR BRAKING AND WAS TOLD NON. LUCKILY MOST ON THE NON BRAKING FUNCTIONS HAPPENED IN LOW SPEED AREA, NEIGHBORHOOD, SIDE STREETS AND A LITTLE ON MAIN 2NDARY ROAD. THERE'S LOTS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS BUT NO RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS. SAFETY ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
MY ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING AND WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL TO DRIVE - I ONLY HAVE 70,000 MILES ON MY FORD ESCAPE - I WAS PARKING MY CAR WHEN THE LIGHT WENT OFF THEN WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE CAR I WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. I CAN NO LONGER START THE CAR WITHOUT HAVING TO PUSH THE THOB'S SECURITY LOCK BUTTONS TO LOCK/UNLOCK FOR IT TO START. I TOOK IT TO MY AUTO MECHANIC AT SAM'S AUTO IN WATERFORD, WHO THOUGHT HE FIXED IT NO PROBLEM, BUT I DROVE IT OFF HIS LOT, AND ITS STILL DOING IT. THAT WAS AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS UNTIL NOW. SAM AND TERRY THINK I COULD BE IN DANGER. I SPOKE TO MY INSURANCE AGENT WHO SAID I NEEDED TO CONTACT YOU ABOUT THE RECALLS ON THE SUV. IT'S SCARY, AND I'VE ONLY HAD THIS CAR SINCE 2018 WHEN I BOUGHT IT. IN FACT, I AM COPYING THIS REPORT TO MY FILES 12/08/2019, AND TO SEND TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY. ACCORDING TO YOUR VIN SEARCH, MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE WAS NOT A PART OF THE 5 RECALLS ON THE YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL OF MY VEHICLE. NOW WITH THAT SAID, 1 RECALL THAT IS LISTED, I AM HAVING A FUEL LEAK JUST AS IT IS DESCRIBED BUT AGAIN MY VIN IS NOT LISTED FOR THAT RECALL AND IT SHOULD. EVERYTIME I FILL UP WITH GAS, AND THE GAS HANDLE CLICKS TO INFORM THAT THE TANK IS FULL, THE GAS STARTS TO LEAK VERY BADLY FROM UP UNDERNEATH AND THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME.

THE WRENCH ICON ALSO COMES ON. WHEN USING AN OBD2 READER A CODE OF P2112 WAS GIVEN. WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON IT SEEMS TO TEMPORARILY CORRECT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN A SPAN OF 2 WEEKS. IT HAPPENS WHILE TURNING AND DRIVING STRAIGHT. I BELIEVE THIS HAS TO DO WITH A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY.
DRIVING ON CITY STREET ONCE AT ABOUT 30MPH THE FIRST TIME ABOUT 60MPH THE SECOND TIME. I SUDDENLY LOSE SPEED AND VEHICLE GOES INTO LIMP MODE. THE WRENCH LIGHT ALSO COMES ON. I CAN TURN VEHICLE OFF THEN RESTART AND IT SEEMS TO BE OK. IT'S HAPPENED TWICE IN A MONTH. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR UNDER FIELD SERVICE ACTION 13NO3. FORD REFUSED TO REPAIR BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT GET A CODE OFF MY VEHICLE INDICATING IT WAS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. SO I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN, HAVE IT TOWED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING SO THE WRENCH LIGHT WILL STAY ON BECAUSE IT GOES OFF WHEN I RESTART IT.
MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. PER THE FORD DEALER IT IS ONLY COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY IF IT DOES IT DURING A TEST DRIVE BY A DEALER. THE VEHICLE IS PATENTLY UNSAFE. IT SHUTS DOWN IN ALL DRIVING SITUATIONS, HIGHWAY SPEEDS, SURFACE ROAD SPEEDS, WHILE MOVING. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THE LOCAL DEALER - FOWLER FORD - IS NOT FOLLOWING FORD'S DIRECTIVE AND IS CHARGING ME FOR A DIAGNOSTIC WHEN FORD SAYS NOT TO. THE 2010 FORD ESCAPE IS A DEATH TRAP. I AM NOW STUCK WITH A VEHICLE THAT HAS HAD MULTIPLE RECALLS FOR LESS SERIOUS ISSUES, BUT THE ONE ISSUE THAT CAN GET SOMEONE KILLED DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR A RECALL? THIS MAKES NO SENSE, I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, BUT HAVE NO CHOICE. WHY WAS FORD ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON A PART THAT FAILS RANDOMLY, WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING IN TRAFFIC. LOST POWER STEERING AS I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS, SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT IT FAILED TO START. THE CONTACT QUICKLY SHIFTED INTO PARK AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE SOUNDED AS IF IT WERE ABOUT TO START, BUT IT DID NOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. A FRIEND OF THE CONTACT'S FAMILY GOOGLED THE FAILURE, WHICH INDICATED TO RESET THE FUEL PUMP SWITCH LOCATED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THE FUEL PUMP SWITCH WAS RESET AND THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING AND SLOWING DOWN, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
VEHICLE HAS TAKEN TO STALLING/DYING WITHOUT WARNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK. THE CAR WAS IN GEAR AND GOING APPROXIMATELY 20-25 MPH EACH TIME THIS OCCURRED. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ON RESIDENTIAL STREETS WITH 25 MPH LIMITS AND NO CARS WERE IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY ON EACH OCCASION.
THE REAR SHOCK UPPER MOUNTING TOWER AND SUPPORT HAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND DETACHED FROM FRAME OF VEHICLE CAUSING REAR WHEEL TO LOOSE CONTACT WITH ROAD. VEHICLE THIS AGE SHOULD NOT HAVE FRAME RUST / DAMAGE MAKING IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE AFTER RESEARCH ONLINE FOUND THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE. MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
