The contact's mother owns a 2010 Ford Escape. The contact stated that on two separate occasions while his mother was driving, the power steering assist failed while in mid-turn. The "power assist fault" warning light had illuminated on the instrument panel during the failures. After the first failure, his mother had taken the vehicle to a dealer where the warning light was reset and the power steering returned. A year later while his mother was making a left turn, the power steering failed nearly causing the vehicle to strike several pedestrians on a busy sidewalk. The contact arrived at the scene and had to use excessive force to steer the vehicle home. The next day, the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where he was provided an estimate for a torque sensor replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred him to NHTSA for assistance. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000 (Steering) which he linked to the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 TO 25 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL CEASED AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT CALLED CROWN FORD INC, (420 MERRICK RD, LYNBROOK, NY 11563, (516) 599-0600) TO INFORM THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 107,000.
WHILE MAKING A TURN, THE ELECTRICAL STEERING ASSIST DISENGAGED FOR A FEW SECONDS AND A BEEPING ALARM SOUNDED THREE TIMES. THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON ANOTHER OCCASION. AFTER THE SECOND TIME I GOT THE CAR BACK HOME AND PARKED IT UNTIL I COULD DETERMINE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. FOUND THE SAME HAPPENINGS ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM AND MY ESCAPE WAS ONE OF THE RECALL VINS. IN 2014, I TOOK IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY DID WHATEVER WAS REQUIRED AT THAT TIME. I NEVER HAD AN ISSUE BEFORE THE RECALL, AND THEY APPARENTLY DID THE REPLACEMENT TO KEEP THE ELECTRICAL ASSIST FROM DISENGAGING. FROM MY UNDERSTANDING, THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES. MY ESCAPE IS AT 191,000 MILES CURRENTLY. FORD SERVICE SAYS THEY CANNOT FIX IT WITHOUT ME COVERING THE COST, AND IF ANOTHER RECALL IS ISSUED, FORD MAY REIMBURSE ME. I BELIEVE ANOTHER RECALL SHOULD BE REQUIRED AS VEHICLES TODAY ARE DRIVEN MORE MILES THAT 150K. IT IS DANGEROUS WHEN THE STEERING ASSIST DISENGAGES AS NO POWER STEERING IS AVAILABLE. THE STEERING WHEEL IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN WHEN THE ASSIST GOES OUT. FORTUNATELY, I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING AS THE STEERING ASSIST REENGAGED WHILE STILL IN MY TURN. IF IT HAD NOT REENGAGED AT THAT EXACT TIME, NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT I WOULD HAVE HIT THE VEHICLE IN THE OTHER LANE. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY AT THE TIME IT FIRST HAPPENED AND THE SECOND TIME IT OCCURRED I WAS TURNING INTO SOMEONE'S DRIVEWAY.
In past couple of years, I had power steering loss while driving. I managed to get car off road but very difficult. I paid $2,000 for a new steering column and was told this was a common Ford Escape Issue. Less than 1 year later, I am having same problem again. Steering comes and goes.
MY POWER STEERING BROKE DOWN AND MY POWER STEERING ASSIST LIGHT CAME ON.I CALLED FORD ABOUT IT AND THEY TOLD ME THE POWER STEERING WAS REPAIRED BACK IN 2014 DUE TO A RECALL.THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR EVEN THEY REPAIRED IT ONCE. SO IS FORD RESPONSIBLE TO REPAIR IT AGAIN BECAUSE IT WAS RECALLED ONCE BEFORE. THANKS...
I WAS WAITING FOR THE GREEN LIGHT AND WHEN I BEGAN MOVING THE STEERING WHELL WENT VERY HARD TO OPERATE FOR A FEW SECONDS AND BEGAN WORKING NORMALLY AFTER THAT. IT HAPPENED TWICE WITH ONLY A FEW SECONDS IN BETWEEN. AFTER THAT IT BECAME NORMAL UNTIL I TURNED OFF THE CAR. NEXT TIME I TURNED ON THE CAR UNTIL TODAY IT HAVE NEVER BEEN NORMAL AGAIN AND IT'S VERY HARD TO OPERATE, EVEN WORSE AT LOW SPEEDS. THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED: POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS NEEDED TO STEER THE VEHICLE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURES TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15E045000 (SUSPENSION) AND 14V284000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT THEN CALLED TYLER FORD, LTD (2626 S SW LOOP 323, TYLER, TX 75701) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 182,711.*DT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER TO BE REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE STEERING SENSOR WAS REPROGRAMMED, NOT REPLACED. THE REPAIR FAILED TO PREVENT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH AND GOING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROADWAY, THE POWER STEERING SENSOR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE STEERING WHEEL SENSOR WAS RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. ON OCTOBER 19, 2020 MY GRANDCHILDREN AND I WHERE TRAVELING BACK HOME FROM SAN DIEGO, CA TO GEORGIA AND AS WE WHERE DRIVING ON HWY 20 IN TEXAS, I HIT A BUMP THE CAR BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. I SLOWLY DROVE THE CAR TO KILGORE, TEXAS TOOK THE CARE TO AUTOMOTIVE SUPER CENTER 1505 US HWY 259 NORTH BUSINESS KILGORE, TX 75663. CHANDLER GORDY SAID HE WOULD CHECK IT OUT AND CALL ME. CHANDLER CALLED ME AND GAVE ME THE REPORT (SEE ATTACHED REPORT). CHANDLER STATED THAT TO FIX THAT UNIT IT COST OVER $2,000.00 IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE I COULDN'T AFFORD TO HAVE IT DONE. I ASKED HIM WHAT HE COULD DO SO THAT WE COULD GET BACK HOME HE SAID HE WOULD TRY AND RESET THE SENSOR. CHANDLER RESET IT & WE HAD TO BE CAREFUL BECAUSE IT MIGHT GO OUT AGAIN AND TO BE VERY CAREFUL. 10/23/2020 SLOWLY DROVE HOMETHE NEXT DAY 10/26/2020 I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AT CARTECH AUTOMOTIVE HE CHECKED IT OUT CALLED ME AND SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CAR AND TO COME GET THE CAR AND TAKE IT TO FORD SO THAT THEY CAN FIX IT. I TOOK THE CAR TO LOGANVILLE FORD 3460 HIGHWAY 78 LOGANVILLE GA 30052 770-554-9994. I SPOKE WITH BRIAN AND UPON HIS EXAMINATION OF THE VIN# THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY CAR AND THAT IF I WANTED THE CAR CHECKED OUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $235.00 TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT.I THEN WENT AND CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER 866-436-7332 AND SPOKE WITH DANA WHO STATED THAT ON AUGUST 4, 2014 THE CAR WAS BROUGHT IN AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE POWER-STEERING SENSOR/MODULE IT WAS RESET NOT REPLACED. I TOLD DANA THAT THIS IS A RECALL AND THE UNIT WAS TO BE REPLACED NOT RESET & DANA SAID THAT THEY HAVE THE BEST HIGH TECH PROGRAMMING SYSTEMS. IT WAS RESET NOT REPLACED, DANA SAID YES & THAT THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO FOR ME. I THEN CALLED 888-327-4236 AND SPOKE WITH LAVENIA DID MY REPORT. FORD IS UNWILLING TO REPLACE THE RECALL UNIT 14S05/NHTSA RECALL 14V-284.
POWER STEERING ASSIT FAULT - EXACTLY LIKE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V284000. THE VEHICLE IS DOING EXACTLY WHAT THE SUMMARY MENTIONS BUT FORD MOTOR CO IS SAYING THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT ONE OF THE ONES RECALLED EVEN THOUGH THE MANUFACTURED DATE IS DURING THIS PERIOD (APRIL 2010) WHEN I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER IN EXETER, CA. THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED AND CONFIRMED MULTIPLE TIMES.
MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE TRYING TO LEAVE THE PARKING LOT AFTER WORK. I COULD BARELY TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL. SENSOR SAID POWER STEERING FAULT.
FIRST I NOTICE THE CAR JUST DROP GEARS AND NEARLY STOP ON THE OFF RAMP OF THE HIGHWAY. SECOND TIME I TRIED TO REVERSE AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE AND I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE IT TO THE GARAGE. FORD TOLD ME IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. FORD DEALERSHIP WANTED TO CHARGE ME OVER $ 5000 FOR THE JOB. I WINDED UP GOING TO A LEE MYLES THAT CHARGE COST TO $ 4000 FOR THE REPAIRS IT HAD DONE. NOW FEW MONTHS LATER AND THE VEHICLE IS SHAKING UPON START UP AND IDILING. WHENEVER I DRIVE THE CAR IT FEELS LIKE ITS JERKS SLIGHTLY WHEN GOING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. CHANGED OUT THE AIR FILTER, REBUILT TRANSMISSION AND STILL HAVING PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEMS WITH THIS 2010 FORD ESCAPE.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE AND WENT TO TURN A CORNER AND HEARD A BEEPING CHIME AND THE VEHICLE BECAME HARD TO TURN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPOT AND TURN THE CAR OFF. WHEN I STARTED IT BACK UP AND HAD PROBLEMS TURNING OUT OF THE SPOT THEN IT WAS FINE. I DROVE IT HOME AND WHEN I WENT TO TURN INTO THE DRIVEWAY IT STARTED CHIMING AGAIN AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED CAME ON THE DASHBOARD. IT WON'T TURN OR ANYTHING. I LOOKED IT UP ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON WITH THE 2010 ESCAPES AND THERE WAS A RECALL OUT ON IT. I CALLED FORD AND GAVE THEM MY VIN NUMBER BUT THEY SAID IT WASN'T COVERED IN THE RECALL. I TOOK IT TO MY AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE WHOLE STEERING COLUMN HAS TO BE REPLACED. IT'S COSTING ME $1,753.
REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER, BOOSTER FRONT ROTORS CALIPERS AND PADS. PEDAL IS SOFT AND GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR WHEN BRAKING WHILE STOPPING.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. RIGHT FRONT CROSS MEMBER AT LOWER CONTROL ARM COMPLETELY RUSTED PREMATURELY, FRONT END STARTED MAKING CLUNKING NOISE WHEN DRIVING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE FRONT SUSPENSION FAILED AND CAUSED THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL TO FAIL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE ONTO THE ROAD SHOULDER AND FOUND THE THAT THE FRONT SUSPENSION HAD FRACTURED AND SEPARATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FILLBACK FORD ' RICHLAND CENTER (2410 US 14 RICHLAND CENTER, WI 53581, (608) 647-5400). THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE FRONT SUSPENSION SUBFRAME FRACTURED DUE TO CORROSION. THE DEALER REPLACED FRONT SUBFRAME K-FRAME, THE AXLE, CONTROL ARM, AND TIE ROD. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,810. INVALID VIN. *BF
WHILE DRIVING AROUND 70 MPH ON THE FREEWAY MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE STARTED TO HESITATE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING ROUGH, AND LEFT ME WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE... I WAS A SITTING DUCK, LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT OVER TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT HURTING MYSELF OR HURTING ANYONE ELSE. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM I REALIZE THAT FORD HAD RECALLED A CERTAIN NUMBER OF 2010 FORD ESCAPES AS WELL AS 2010 FORD FUSION FOR THE THROTTLEBODY TO BE REPLACED. THEY ALSO BACK IN JANUARY 2014 SENT OUT A LETTER TO FORD OWNERS STATING THAT IT IS POSSIBLE YOUR ESCAPE'S THROTTLE BODY COULD GO OUT; AND EXPLAINED EXACTLY WHAT THAT WOULD FEEL LIKE AND WHAT THEY COULD EXPECT IF IT WAS TO GO OUT. WHY WE RECALL SOME AND NOT RECALL ALL; WHY WAIT TILL THERE IS A PROBLEM UNTIL THEY CAN FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY KNEW THIS WAS A PROBLEM AND THEY DID NOTHING ABOUT IT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
I was driving on the freeway in the second lane from the left cruising around 60-65 MPH when the vehicle started to idle rough and then I lost the ability to accelerate I had to maneuver over to the right-hand shoulder of the freeway with cars flying around me. Even though the engine never stalled, the loss of my ability to accelerate left me a sitting duck in danger of being struck by another vehicle or as a dangerous obstacle for other vehicles who might have gotten in an accident trying to avoid me. It also came to my attention while researching the cause that Ford was aware of the issue and had already recalled certain vin #'s and sent a letter out to others with an extended factory warranty to replace the part, but only once the part failed. NOT SAFE! I previously reported this incident to you in August or September, however I lost my follow up information and don't know what happened with my complaint.
LEAK GAS
CANNOT START VEHICLE! PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. KEY WILL NOT TURN FORWARD ENOUGH TO ENGAGE STARTER. PROBLEM STARTED YEARS AGO AND NOW HAS PROGRESSED TO THIS POINT WHERE IT WILL NOT START AT ALL USING THE IGNITION. THANKS!
DRIVING VEHICLE DOWN HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70MPH, HIT BUMP FROM ROAD CONSTRUCTION. SURFACE WAS SLIGHTLY ELEVATED, STEERING WHEEL JERKED AND THEN WAS TILTED APPROXIMATELY 30 DEGREES OFF CENTER TO THE LEFT. LIFTED VEHICLE AND INSPECTED, FOUND K-FRAME ON PASSENGER SIDE WAS ROTTING THROUGH AND HAD PARTIALLY DETACHED. CAUSING ALIGNMENT TO CHANGE. NOT MUCH MATERIAL IS HOLDING IT ON STILL.

WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THERE WAS NO CURRENT RECALL ON THISVEHICLE AND THAT THE PART #CL8Z*3F818*A TORQUE STEERING SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE CAUSING THE POWER STEERING TO FAIL. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY WAS QUICK TO REJECT REPAIR FOR RECALLS OR WARRANTIES AS IT IS A DIRECT EXPENSE TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THEY SAID MY RECOURSE WAS TO CONTACT FORD MOTOR COMPANY WHICH I DID AT THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER CONTACT FORD MOTOR THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THERE WOULD BE NO RECALL WOULD BE HONORED AS THE RECALL WAS ALREADY PERFORMED IN 2014 WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND ONLY THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED. THE ESTIMATE OF REPAIRS AT LARRY MILLER FORD LINCOLN DRAPER WAS $922.97, WHICH, AS A SINGLE WOMAN, I HAVE HAD TO HAVE A REPAIR SHOP REPLACE THE SENSOR. I WAS LOADING GROCERIES INTO THE WINDOW AREA OF THE TAILGATE. WHEN THE BRACKET CRACKED, APPEARS TO HAVE CORRODED AND CRACKED.
ENGINE WAS BUCKING, STALLING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS NEARLY CAUSING ME TO BE IN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. (CUSTOMER SAT. PROGRAM 13N03)
DRIVING ON MAIN LOCAL ROAD APPX 30 MPH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT POPPED ON, THEN THE CAR SUDDENLY DIED, I WAS ABLE TO SWERVE TO PARK, SHUT RESTART CAR, CAR SPUTTERED MADE IT TEN FEET AND DIED AGAIN. WENT TO MECHANIC, HE CHECKED ALTERNATOR, BATTERY, AND RAN THE CODE TEST COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG, DRIVING AGAIN APPX 1 WEEK LATER SAME THING HAPPENS AGAIN. MECHANIC CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG. MY CAR DOES NOT EVEN HAVE 60,000 MILES ON IT. I AM THE ONLY OWNER, AND HAVE MAINTAINED MY CAR AS RECOMMENDED. IF ME AND MY FAMILY SHOULD GET INJURED OR DIE IN THIS CAR OUR BLOOD IS ON FORD.
MY FORD ESCAPE HYBRID IS EXPERIENCING AN ISSUE WITH THE ETB WHICH IS PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN LIMP MODE. THIS ISSUE WAS INVESTIGATED ON A NUMBER OF FORD VEHICLES IN 2014 AND FOUND THAT IT WAS A DEFECTIVE PART OF THE THROTTLE BODY, HOWEVER HYBRID VEHICLES WERE OMITTED FROM THE WARRANTY REPAIR. MY FORD HYBRID IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES THAT OTHER MODELS HAD VERIFIED AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY COVERAGE. *TR

STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AS IF THE POWER STEERING IS GOING OUT. STARTED TODAY FOR THE FIRST TIME TURNING RIGHT INTO A GAS STATION AND I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES SO THAT I WOULDN'T HIT THE GUY COMING OUT SINCE I WAS SO UNPREPARED FOR MY POWER STEERING TO GO OUT! I HAD THE RECALL FIXED YEARS AGO AND SOMEHOW...ITS BACK! I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BECAME EXTREMELY HARD TO STEER. THE DASH DISPLAYED 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT'. I WAS OVER 20 MILES FROM HOME ON A VERY CURVY CANYON ROAD. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN THE ROAD. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE THAT THIS COULD FAIL WITHOUT NOTICE. I SAW THAT SOME FORD ESCAPES HAVE RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE BUT NOT MINE. MY CAR HAS AN STEERING ASSIST FAULT , THE STEERING WHEEL GETS HARD TO HANDLE , IT WAS GOING ON AN OFF BUT NOW ON MY ODOMETER IT SHOWS THAT IT HAS A STEERING ASSIST FAULT, I TRIED CALLING FORD, BUT NO ANSWER, ALSO I TRIED THE WEBSITE AND WHEN I PUT MY VIN NUMBER IT WOULD SHOW NO RECALLS. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON COUNTY ROAD (CR475) @ 50 MPH EXPERIENCED DANGEROUS LOSS OF ACCELERATION POWER. WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COMEON. TURNED ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED CLEARS LIGHTS FOR AWHILE, THEN THEY REAPPEARED WHILE DRIVING. CALLED FORD DEALER (OCALA, FL) TOLD ME ISSUE IS KNOW TO THEM BUT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN HAD EXPIRED @ 4 MONTHS PRIOR FOR MY VEHICLE! I PURCHASED AND REGISTERED VEHICLE 12/2015, HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICES OF THIS ISSUE. THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS THROTTLE ACTUATOR FAILURE WAS A DANGEROUS ISSUE SAID I SHOULD REPLACE IT MYSELF "IF I CHOSE TO" AND KEEP RECEIPTS "IN CASE THEY ISSUE A RECAL IN THE FUTURE" FORD DEALER GAVE ME COMPLIANT # CAS26375302.. SPENT $400 TO HAVE THIS CORRECTED BECAUSE I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION IF IT OCCURS AT HIGH SPEED OR IN AN INTERSECTION. I GUESS FORD WILL WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO GET HURT BEFORE ACKNOWLEDGING THE SEVERITY OF THIS THROTTLE MALFUNCTION.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS OF YET. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V904000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC), HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. MY MOTHER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE TODAY STRAIGHT ON A STREET AND SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE (ONLY BY GODS GRACE SHE WAS SPARED FROM A DEADLY ACCIDENT). I WENT TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AT HER HOME AND FOUND OUT THE RIGHT LOWER CONTROL ARM WHERE IT IS BOLTED TO THE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSS MEMBER WAS SEVERELY FATIGUED THAT WAS CORRODED BADLY BROKE OFF UNEXPECTEDLY WITHOUT ANY WARNING AT ALL. I THEN RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AFTERWARDS AND THERE WERE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON LINE OF VEHICLE ABOUT THIS SAME SAFETY ISSUE. I MAY BE SEEKING LEGAL COUNSEL FROM TODD TRACY LAW FIRM OF DALLAS TX. FOR THIS POSSIBLY DEADLY AND SEVERE DEFECT THAT WAS NOT PROPERLY ADDRESSED FROM FORD AND NHTSA TO CONSUMERS AND IS A HIDDEN TICKING TIME BOMB PUTTING PEOPLE IN DANGER. WHY HAVE YOU NOT NOTIFIED PEOPLE OF THIS ISSUE? I CANNOT BE THE FIRST AND ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE.
WE HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT A FUEL LEAK AND SUBSEQUENT FIRE RISK FOR OUR 2010 FORD ESCAPE XLT WITH THE LI I4 ENGINE MANUFACTURED AT THE CLAYCOMO, MISSOURI, PLANT. THERE HAS BEEN FUEL ODOR SINCE SEPTEMBER, 2019 UPON APPROACHING THE VEHICLE. AS OF THIS WEEK, IN ADDITION TO THE SMELL OF FUEL, THERE IS A NOTICEABLE, VISIBLE POOL OF FUEL UNDER THE VEHICLE; ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, IN FRONT OF THE REAR LEFT TIRE. A PHOTO IS ATTACHED. THERE IS A RECALL ON SOME 2010 FORD ESCAPES FOR A DIFFERENT ENGINE, I WOULD LIKE THE RECALL EXTENDED TO INCLUDED THE AFOREMENTIONED VEHICLE.
THE OUTLINED RECALL FOR THE POWER STEERING ON THIS VEHICLE WAS RECALLED. ACCORDING TO THE NHTSA WEBSITE, IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED. DESPITE THIS, THIS PROBLEM HAS RESURFACED. I AM UNSURE WHAT TO DO ABOUT THIS. AS POWER STEERING IS A VERY CONCERNING SAFETY ISSUE. THE STEERING WHEEL IS TWITCHING WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE IDLING. IT IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AS DAYS GO ON.
WE'VE HAD THE BRAKES FAIL ONCE BEFORE AND ONCE AGAIN TODAY. WE HIT THE BRAKES ON THHE INTERSTATE AND AFTERWARDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE LAST TIME, WE TOOK IT TO A SERVICE STATION AND THEY COULDNT' FIND ANYTHING WRONG. IT HAPPENED AGAIN THIS MORNING ON THE INTERSTATE. I BELIEVE IT'S RELATED TO FSA 19S54 RECALL AND THAT FORD ESCAPES SHOULD BE EVALUATED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT WITH 130K+ ON THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS BACK IN 2014 BUT BECAUSE IT WASN'T "BROKEN" IN 2014 THEY CLOSED THE RECALL. NOW IN 2020, IT IS GIVING FAULT CODES AND IT STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. FORD REFUSES TO REPLACE THE SYSTEM BECAUSE IT WASN'T BROKEN 6 YEARS AGO WHEN THEY REALIZED THE MECHANICS OF THE SYSTEM WERE FAULTY IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING BACKED OUT OF A DRIVEWAY WHEN IT LOST POWER STEERING ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
