HARD STOP ON AN EXPRESSWAY AND THE BRAKES BECAME SPONGY. IN ABOUT A WEEK OR SO THEY RETURNED TO NORMAL, BUT ABOUT A MONTH LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AND THE BRAKES NEVER RECOVERED. HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET A GOOD STOPPING PRESSURE. FOUR MONTHS LATER, OUT OF NOWHERE, THE VEHICLE HAD NO PRESSURE WHATSOEVER. BRAKE FLUID BEGAN POURING OUT FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. UNDER INSPECTION, MECHANIC FAULTED A FAILED ABS MODULE. LOOKING ONLINE, THIS IS A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED URGENTLY. MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY 123,000 MILES.

THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE HIMSELF AND FOUND THAT THE WHEEL BEARING WAS THE WRONG DIMENSION. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL BEARING HIMSELF. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER FOR THE STEERING FAILURE AND THE STEERING STABILIZER WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING) AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15E045000 (SUSPENSION). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE HINGES WERE SEVERELY CORRODED, FRACTURED, AND DETACHED FROM THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOB MAXEY FORD, INC. (1833 JEFFERSON AVENUE, DETROIT, MI, 48207) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HINGES WERE RUSTED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
STALLS RANDOMALLY WHILE DRIVING OVER THE LAST YEAR
I LOST POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. IT HAPPENED UNEXPECTEDLY AND IT CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO JERK ON ME.
THE FLANGE ELECTRICAL KEY SWITCH IS FAULTY CAUSING TH CAR TO NOT START THE KEY WILL NOT TURN, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AS WELL AS SOME OTHER ESCAPE OWNERS I HAVE TALKED WITH. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT IS GETTING WORSE

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS ROTTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE WAS RUSTED AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 212,093. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE ISNT BUT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN RECALL OF WHEEL BEARING BEING INCORRECTLY SIZED AND POWER STEERING FAILURE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HAVING THEM CHECKED ASAP. BECAUSE OF THE INCORRECT SIZING AND THE POWER STEERING FAILING DRIVING WITH THEM WILL END UP COSTING YOU A LOT OF MONEY AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON HIGHWAY. WHEEL BEARINGS INCORRECTLY SIZED WILL LOCK UP ON YOU WHILE DRIVING RANDOMLY.

LUCKILY MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED AND ONLY A BLOCK FROM THE HOUSE, WHEN WITH NO WARNING LOST POWER STEERING. THE DASH LIT UP WITH POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. AFTER RESEARCHING I FOUND MANY INSTANCES OF THIS HAPPENING AND FIRE HAVING A RECALL ON 2008-2011 FORD ESCAPES. ONCE GOING TO MY LOCAL FORD SERVICE CENTER I WAS INFORMED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE THEY NEED TO FESS UP TO.

FORD ESCAPE REAR WINDOW HINGES. THE HINGES DISINTEGRATED AND THE GLASS ALMOST CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY. I LUCKILY CAUGHT THE GLASS BEFORE IT FELL. I NOTICED A WHITE RESIDUE ON THE GLASS WHIC WAS FROM THE FAULTY HINGES. MY CAR WAS IN MY GARAGE.

MY VEHICLE HAS STALLED TWICE WHILE I AM DRIVING IT. THE FIRST TIME WAS ON 95, A 4-LANE HIGHWAY. IT STALLS AND THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON, I HAVE NO POWER TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. I HAD TO PUT IT IN PARK AND RE-START THE ENGINE. I WAS LUCKY TO NOT BE IN HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC WHERE I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT STALLED.
THERE IS A SMALL GAS LEAK EVERY TIME I FILL MY TANK UP FULL. THE ODOR IS POTENT AND I FEEL LIKE MY SAFETY IS AT RISK WHENEVER I FILL MY TANK UP. I SMELL IT WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY
MY CAR SUDDENLY LOSES POWER WHILE DRIVING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, WITH CODES P2112, P0443, AND C1963. THE ISSUE(S) SEEM TO HAPPEN WHILE I AM DRIVING AT 55MPG OR HIGHER. THIS HAS OCCURRED BOTH ON THE INTERSTATE AS WELL AS BACK ROADS WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 55. THE MOST RECENT TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS A PERIOD STARTING ON 06/04/2018 THROUGH 06/05/2018. THIS HAPPENED 5 TIMES DURING THIS PERIOD, BUT HAS ALSO HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE DECEMBER 2017 AS WELL.
MY VEHICLE HAD A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT RECALL IN 2014, NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 14V284000., FORD RECALL # 14S05. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO FORD IN AUGUST 2104 TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT SENSOR JUST CAME BACK ON . I DO NOT HAVE ANY POWER STEERING. I CONTACTED A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT ONCE THEY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM IN 2014 THEIR OBLIGATION ENDED. THEY SAID THAT THERE IS NO WARRANTY ON THE CORRECTION. THE SAME PROBLEM IS BACK AGAIN.

ON SUNDAY, APRIL 22, 2018, WHILE ASCENDING A GRADE ON THE PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY IN NEWPORT BEACH, CA, THE 'YELLOW WRENCH' WARNING LIGHT ON MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY DEACCELERATED AND DID NOT RESPOND TO THE THROTTLE. AT THAT MOMENT I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE OF A 3-LANE HIGHWAY WITH OTHER VEHICLES APPROACHING FROM BEHIND AND PASSING AT 50 MPH. MY VEHICLE SLOWED TO ABOUT 5 MPH AS I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE TO THE RIGHT WHERE I HOPED IT HAD ENOUGH MOMENTUM THAT I COULD MAKE IT TO THE TOP OF THE GRADE AND EXIT THE HIGHWAY. THE RIGHT-HAND EXIT WAS DOWNHILL AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST AND CREEP INTO A MARKET PARKING LOT WHERE I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND TRIED TO CALM DOWN. FROM THE VEHICLE MANUAL I LEARNED THAT THE 'YELLOW WRENCH' INDICATED 'THROTTLE CONTROL OR DRIVE TRAIN PROBLEMS.' AS IT TURNED OUT IT WAS A SUNDAY MORNING AND I DID NOT HAVE A PHONE WITH ME SO I DECIDED TO TRY RESTARTING THE ENGINE. IT STARTED AND THE YELLOW WRENCH DID NOT ILLUMINATE. AFTER A SHORT TEST DRIVE IN THE PARKING LOT I DECIDED TO CANCEL MY ERRANDS AND TRY TO RETURN HOME, A DISTANCE OF A FEW MILES. I DROVE AT 25-30 MPH ON RESIDENTIAL SIDE STREETS AND MADE IT HOME WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND DESCRIBED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT AND REPORT BACK. LATER I WAS INFORMED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY AND THEY HAD A REPLACEMENT PART. WHEN I CAME IN TO PICK UP THE CAR I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO CHARGE BECAUSE THE REPAIR 'WAS UNDER WARRANTY!' THIS WAS A BIG SURPRISE, SINCE I HAD NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE OF A POTENTIAL PROBLEM NOR OF A WARRANTY EXTENSION. SUDDEN DEACCELERATION WOULD BE DANGEROUS ON A FREEWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, NOT MITIGATED BY "LIMP HOME" CAPABILITY

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (RON TIRAPELLI FORD, 4355 W JEFFERSON ST, SHOREWOOD, IL 60404) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE SYMPTOMS WERE DUE TO AN UNKNOWN RECALL REPAIR PERFORMED IN 2014. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND CONFIRMED THE INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
RECALL 16V-777 I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD IN JANUARY 2018 STATING THAT PARTS WERE AVAILABLE FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE FIXED. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER - GIBBONS FORD AND WAS PUT ON THE WAITING LIST SINCE THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS. IT IS NOW APRIL AND THE DEALER HAS ONLY RECEIVED THREE OF THE PARTS TO DATE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SEVICE AND WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER CAS14605645. I WAS TOLD THIS WOULD BE ELEVATED TO THEIR MANAGEMENT, BUT I THINK FOUR MONTHS IS EXTREMELY LONG TIME TO EFFECT A RECALL. THE VEHICLE SMELLS LIKE GAS AND I'M HESITANT TO DRIVE IT DUE TO THE INCREASED RISK OF FIRE. I BASICALLY HAVE A VEHICLE I CAN'T DRIVE WAITING ON FORD TO GET PARTS TO THE DEALERSHIP. ANY PRESSURE THAT CAN BE PUT ON FORD TO GET THE PARTS TO THE DEALERSHIP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
THE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOSS THE POWER STEERING ABILITY AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET. GOOD THING I WAS ON A CITY STREET AND NOT GOING FAST. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALLS ON THIS, BUT IN 2014 THERE WAS A RECALL, BUT TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE ONLY UNLESS THE POWER STEERING HAD ACTUALLY GONE OUT. I WANT TO KNOW HOW DID UPDATING THE SOFTWARE FIXES THE ISSUE? I WAS FORCED TO TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP, AND WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALLS, AND THAT IT WILL BE ABOUT $1,800 TO FIX. WHY IS FORD NOT ISSUING ANOTHER RECALL TO TAKE CARE OF THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR THIS FAILURE? IT'S SO UNFAIR THAT THIS WAS GOING TO BE A PROBLEM EVENTUALLY, AND FORD SLAPPED A BAND-AID ON IT SO AS TO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ERROR. I GUESS IF SOMEONE GETS INJURED SERIOUSLY ENOUGH, THEN MAYBE THEY'LL DO SOMETHING. UNFORTUNATELY, I HAVE TO PAY FOR MY CAR TO BE FIXED, BUT I AM GOING TO DO ALL THAT I CAN TO GET SOMEONE TO LISTEN TO MY CONCERNS REGARDING THE SO CALL "RECALL" THAT DIDN'T FIX ANYTHING. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY A FORD VEHICLE.

WHILE DRIVING HEARD POP NOISE. CAR WAS NOT DRIVING RIGHT AND SKID HAZARD LIGHT WENT ON. AS I WAS GOING VERY SLOWLY ON SIDE ROADS, I GOT TO A POINT WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL COULD TURN BACK AND FORTH BUT I COULD NOT CHANGE DIRECTION OF CAR. CAR WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC. TWO MECHANICS WITH 30 YEARS EXPERIENCE EACH SAID THAT THEY HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE. THEY REMOVED AND REPLACED STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY AND STEERING COLUMN. THIS WAS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE AN SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED! LUCKY FOR ME I WAS ON BACK ROADS.
THERE IS EXCESSIVE CORROSION AND ROT ON MY SUBFRAME THAT HAS CAUSED A LARGE HOLE AS WELL AS MY CONTROL ARM TO BECOME LOOSE. THIS IS CAUSED BY EXCESSIVE RUST FROM ROAD SALT AND OTHER DIRT. THIS HAS MADE MY CAR UNABLE TO PASS INSPECTION.
MY VEHICLE STEERING IS LOCKED NO MOVEMENT IT SAYS STEERING SYSTEM ASSISTANCE IT IS BINDING VERY HARD.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER THE RECALL IN 2014 AT DOWLING FORD (1011 S MAIN ST, CHESHIRE, CT 06410, 203-272-2772). FOR THE RECENT FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THAT THE SOFTWARE FOR THE PSCM WAS UPDATED ACCORDING TO THE RECALL REMEDY AND THE RECALL REPAIR COULD ONLY BE PERFORMED ONCE. THE DEALER DID NOT LOCATE A FAILURE AND NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.

POWER STEERING WENT OUT SPONTANEOUSLY WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET. CAR WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO MANEUVER AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO REPAIR CENTER. WAS REPAIRED FOR COST OF $1500. RECALLS WERE CHECKED AS MECHANIC SAID THIS WAS NOT A COMMON PROBLEM, AND MANY RECALLS FOR THIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR WERE FOUND, BUT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT. CLEARLY THIS POSES A REAL SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN.
I HAVE A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD SAFETY RECALL - 16S41; NHTSA RECALL 16V-777 FROM DEC 2016 AND I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP NEAR ME AND HAVE BEEN TOLD 3 TIMES THAT THE PARTS ARE ON NATIONWIDE BACK ORDER. DEALERSHIP IS WEST HERR FORD, RIDGE RD WEST ROCHESTER, NY 14626; THIS IS NOT RIGHT
I WAS DRIVING MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE WHEN I ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST POWER STEERING WHILE TURNING WITH NO WARNING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THEN MY ESCAPE BEGAN TO MAKE A "DINGING" NOISE REPEATEDLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND PUT IN PARK. THE CAR THEN SHOWED "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" . MY ESCAPE HAS NOT HAD POWER STEERING SINCE THIS INCIDENT. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE ESCAPE FROM AND THEY INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST RECALL HAD BEEN SATISFIED PRIOR TO ME PURCHASING IT WITH THE REPROGRAM AND NOTHING REPLACED. I THEN CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE WHO CONFIRMED THIS INFORMATION AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF SINCE THE RECALL WAS ALREADY SATISFIED WITH THE REPROGRAM. WHEN RUNNING A CODE SCANNER IT COMES BACK AS THE TORQUE SENSOR CODE. I AM CURRENTLY BARELY ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE POWER STEERING AND UNABLE TO AFFORD THE $1500-$2000 REPAIR THAT I WAS TOLD "MIGHT WORK" BY THE DEALERSHIP.
LOSS OF POWER STEERING AT LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS INTERMITTENTLY ON BOTH CITY AND HIGHWAYS. CAR REPORTED FAULT IN POWER STEERING ASSIST SYSTEM, AND DRIVER EXPERIENCED LOSS OF POWER STEERING FOR 5 - 15 SECONDS AT EACH EVENT. THE VEHICLE WAS UP TO DATE ON ALL RECALLS, AND HAD THE 14S05 COMPLETED BACK IN 2014. DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE ISSUE IS A FAILED TORQUE SENSOR. VEHICLE HAS 86K MILES ON THE ODOMETER.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FREEDOM FORD (151 WOODLAND DR SW, WISE, VA 24293) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL INLET FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
REFERENCE TO NHTSA SAFETY RECALL 16V-777 I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET MY CAR IN FOR THIS RECALL. I HAVE MADE TWO APPOINTMENTS WITH MY LOCAL FORD DEALER(HINESVILLE, GEORGIA) AND BOTH HAVE BEEN CANCELLED. THE SAY PART/S ARE BACKORDERED AND DO NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE. EVEN THOUGH AS OF YET I AM HAVING NO ISSUES I FEEL UNSAFE RIDING IN A CAR WHOSE FUEL SYSTEM MAY LEAK AND POSSIBLE IGNITE. NOT SURE ANYTHING CAN BE DONE BUT THOUGHT IT WAS IMPORTANT TO DOCUMENT MY EFFORTS JUST IN CASE.
RECALL 14S05. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING MY POWER STEERING SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE. I TOOK IT IN AS INSTRUCTED. THE DEALERSHIP "REPROGRAMMED IT" AS INSTRUCTED BY FORD. NOW THE TORQUE SENSOR THAT WAS ALSO UNDER SAME RECALL IS OUT AND THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. THEY ARE TELLING ME THE RECALL WAS SATISFIED. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH AND READING OTHER STORIES ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE I FEEL THIS WAS A SCAM BY FORD TO SATISFY THE RECALL. THEY ARE PUSHING THE COST TO THE CONSUMER. THE REPROGRAM IS JUST A WARNING THAT THE STEERING IS GOING TO FAIL IT WAS NEVER ANY FIX. THE SENSOR SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THIS IS A SAFETY WARNING ON THEIR OWN ADMISSION WHEN YOU CALL TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE RECALL. I REALLY THINK THIS IS WRONG ON EVERY LEVEL.

THE POWER TRAIN WARNING INDICATOR FLASHED. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED ONE RECALL FOR THE POWER TRAIN AND NINE TSBS FOR THE POWER TRAIN; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN OF A PERMANENT REMEDY AND WAS WAITING ON A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
