TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING, THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE RESTARTED TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING A NEW POWER STEERING TORQUE SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE MY FORD ESCAPE STEERING FIXED, NOW THERE IS A RECALL AND MY DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THERE IS TO A RECALL, WHICH THERE IS. I WAS DOING AND ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A ARIGHT HAND TURN AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT.
AT FIRST MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THEN MY FORD ESCAPE STARTED BUT IT ONLY CREEPED DOWN THE STREET IT BARELY WANTED TO GO ANYWHERE WHEN I GOT TO THE LIGHT IT WOULDN'T MOVE AT ALL SO I BACKED IT UP THEN SLOWLY DROVE IT ACROSS THE STREET OUT THE WAY OF TRAFFIC & WHEN I SHUT IT OFF IT WOULD NOT START BACK UP THE CRANKSHAFT & TIMING CHAIN WENT OUT ON IT. IT ONLY HAS 65,800 MILES ON IT AND I ONLY HAD IT 8 MONTHS. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THAT PART BECAUSE THE MILEAGE IS NOT THAT HIGH FOR IT TO GO OUT ALREADY. IT'S GOING TO COST A LOT TO GET REPAIRED. I NEED TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE CRANKSHAFT WILL BE ABLE TO GET REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY.
"ENGINE RECALL" I HAVE A 2011 FORD ESCAPE & AFTER 7 MONTHS OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE I WAS TOLD THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE. I WAS HEADED HOME FROM WORK ON I95 THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE NEXT MORNING I GOT UP TO GO TO WORK AND THE ESCAPE WOULD NOT CRANK UP AT ALL IT DID NOT MOVE. FROM THE TIME I HAD THIS VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT START ON SOME DAYS SO IT WAS NO GOOD WHEN I BOUGHT IT. IT ONLY HAS 65000 MILES ON IT. THE CAMSHAFT & CRANKSHAFT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THAT PART OF THIS VEHICLE. I DROVE IT FOR 7 MONTHS & THERE WAS DAYS IT DIDN'T WANT TO START. I WASTED MY HARD EARNED CASH ON THIS PIECE OF JUNK AND NOW I DONT HAVE A CAR TO RIDE TO WORK. FORD NEED TO RECALL THIS ISSUE.
ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE LIGHTS FLICKERED OFF, THE BRAKES WORKED AT APPROX. 30% AFTER THE CAR SHUT OFF AND I HAD MINIMAL STEERING CAPABILITIES AND NO ACCELERATION CAPABILITY. THE CAR HAS ALSO REPEATEDLY BEEN FOUND WITH A DEAD BATTERY (AROUND 10 TIMES NOW) WHEN IT HAS A BRAND NEW BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR, AND NOTHING WITHIN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN LEFT ON TO DRAIN THE POWER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ROBBERSON FORD LOCATED AT: 2100 NE 3RD BEND OR 97701 541 382 4521, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING PUMP, STEERING COLUMN, AND STEERING ANGLE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.

THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WE PURCHASED A USED 2011 FORD ESCAPE ON JAN 17,2017. AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP AND DRIVING HOME, THE POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE BACKING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY. WE TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, AND RESTARTED IT. THE POWER STEERING WAS FUNCTIONING AGAIN. AS WE TURNED THE CORNER ON MY STREET, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AGAIN, CAUSING THE VEHICLE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING TO GO STRAIGHT TOWARD A LIGHT POLE ON THE CORNER. WE STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND WE WERE ABLE TO FORCE THE STEERING MANUALLY TO TURN INTO OUR DRIVEWAY. I CONTACTED THE NON-FORD DEALER TO ADVISE THEM WHAT HAD HAPPENED WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF LEAVING THEIR DEALERSHIP. REPAIRS HAVE NOT BEEN MADE YET. FORD SAYS THAT MY VIN IS NOT UNDER THE RECALL, DESPITE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE RECALL STATES. I RESEARCHED OUR VEHICLE AND CONTACTED FORD TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED ON MAY, 2014. HERE IS THE RECALL: RECALL NUMBER 14V284000 RECALL DATE 05/29/2014 COMPONENT STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM SUMMARY FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FORD) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2011 FORD ESCAPE AND MERCURY MARINER VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AUGUST 18, 2006, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 11, 2010. THE AFFECTED VEHICLES HAVE A STEERING TORQUE SENSOR THAT MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PROPERLY DETECT DRIVER STEERING INPUT. AS A RESULT, THE SYSTEM COULD REMOVE THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ASSIST. CONSEQUENCE IF POWER STEERING ASSIST IS LOST, GREATER DRIVER EFFORT WOULD BE REQUIRED TO STEER THE VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. OUR CAR WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY, TEMPERATURE AROUND 30. I GRABBED SOMETHING OUT OF THE BACK OF THE CAR AND WHEN I SHUT THE LIFTGATE, THE GLASS INSTANTLY SHATTERED, THROWING GLASS SEVERAL FEET IN EACH DIRECTION. THE GLASS HAD NOT BEEN PREVIOUSLY SCRATCHED, CRACKED, OR DAMAGED IN ANY WAY.

AS I WAS DRIVING HOME IN TOWN, THE ENGINE SERVICE SOON LIGHT COMES ON. CODE HAS TO DO WITH THE EMISSIONS/FUEL VALVE. THE VEHICLE DRIVES JUST FINE, BUT CONCERNED ABOUT INSPECTION AND IF THIS IS UNDER A RECALL THAT IS NOT FOR MY VEHICLE. ALSO, WHEN DRIVING, STARTING AND STOPPING THE CAR SEEMS TO 'JUMP' AT TIMES AND NO KNOWN CAUSE AND HESITATES IN SHIFTING. PLEASE ADVISE ON WHAT TO DO. THANK YOU. A VERY CONCERNED DRIVER. *TR

ELECTRIC POWER ASSISTED STEERING SYSTEM FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, IT FAILED AS I WAS TURNING A CORNER. NO POWER STEERING AVAILABLE. HAD IT TOWED TO THE KENDALL FORD IN EUGENE OR. THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE UNIT, THIS UNIT HAS PREVIOUSLY FAILED 3 TIMES ON OTHER VEHICLE OF MY TYPE. THE TOTAL REPAIR COST IS $1,400.00 MY CAR ONLY HAS 58,000 MILES ON IT, I THINK FORD NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT, ESPECIALLY WHEN THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM (3TIMES) ON CARS LIKE MINE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING TO MY BANK WHICH IS AN HOUR AWAY. AS I DROVE UP A STEEP MOUNTAIN AT THE TOP THE TRUCK JUST SHUT OFF AND I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF HWY. AFTER I STOP TRIED STARTING 4 TIMES AND NOTHING HAPPEN. SET FOR 10MINS THEN TRIED AGAIN TRUCK STARTED I MADE IT BACK HOME WITHOUT STALLING.I TOOK MY IN TRUCK TO BE LOOKED AT DIAGNOSTIC FUEL THROTTLE. EVERY DAY SINCE IM STALLING 1OR 2 A DAY TRUCKS SHOULD BE MADE TO ENDURE PARTS SHOULD BE.MORE DURABLE ITS ALWAYS ABOUT CUTTING CORNERS.MAKING MORE MONEY OFF OF CUSTOMER.CAN WE JUST THE LAND OF THE FREE AND A HOME OF HONEST AMD INTEGRITY.I MUST WORK IF DONT HAVE RELIABLE TRASNPORTATION ITS DIFFICULT WHERE I LIVE. FORD SENT A RECALL LETTER IN DECEMBER 2016 REPORTING A POSSIBLE CRACK IN THE FUEL SUPPLY PORT THAT COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. RECALL #16S41/NHTSA # 16V-777. I CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP REPEATEDLY OVER THE LAST YEAR AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE WERE NO PARTS TO FIX THE RECALL AND THEY WOULD NOTIFY WHEN PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE. NOW NEARLY 1 1/2 YEARS LATER, AFTER MULTIPLE CONTACTS, I'M TOLD THAT FORD STILL HAS NOT PROVIDED PARTS FOR THE FIX. FURTHER, CALLS TO THE DEALER AND TO FORD RESULT IN PROMISES BUT NO ACTION.

RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE 3 MONTHS AGO (FAULTY FUEL DELIVERY MODULE IN THE FUEL SUPPLY PORT THAT MAY DEVELOP A CRACK/LEAK) AND NOTICE THAT FMC IS WORKING ON A REMEDY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. HAVE YET TO RECEIVE FOLLOW UP NOTIFICATION TO HAVE REPAIR PARTS INSTALLED. TOLD BY FORD DEALERSHIP THAT THERE IS NO REMEDY YET BY FMC. ALTHOUGH MY VEHICLE DOES NOT APPEAR TO SHOW SIGNS OF FUEL LEAKAGE AT THIS POINT, I REMAIN CONCERNED THAT A LEAK MAY OCCUR AND GO UNDETECTED BEFORE A POTENTIAL TRAGEDY OCCURS.

DRIVING A 2011 FORD ESCAPE, AND WHILE WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT HEADING SOUTH AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION, UPON THE LIGHT TURNING GREEN, I PROCEEDED TO ENTER THE INTERSECTION AT APPROX. 10 MPH. NEXT THING I KNOW, I AM T-BONING A CAR THAT RAN THE RED LIGHT ENTERING THE INTERSECTION FROM THE EAST AT 40 MILES AND HOUR. I WAS UNABLE TO SEE HER APPROACH BECAUSE OF A LARGE TRUCK ON MY LEFT THAT WAS TURNING LEFT TO GO EAST. THE IMPACT SPUN THE CAR THAT RAN THE RED LIGHT AROUND 180 DEGRESS THEN HIT A THIRD CAR AND STOPPED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AMONGST ANY OF THE PARTIES INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT. MY CONCERN IS THAT MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE TOTAL FRONT OF MY CAR WAS SMASHED IN AND THE BUMPER JUST ABOUT TORN OFF. DAMAGE INCURRED BY MY CAR MADE IT A TOTAL LOSS.
