THIS IS REGARDING NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 16V777. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR SINCE THIS DEFECT WAS POSTED AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION FROM FORD TO COME IN AND HAVE THE FUEL DELIVERY MODULE REPLACED.

GAS SMELL INSIDE CAR. ON THIRD OR FOURTH DAY OF RECURRING SMELL, TOOK TO SERVICE. SERVICE TECH HAD DIFFICULTY FINDING LEAK, AS THEIR WAS NO VISIBLE DRIPS TO THE GROUND. RETURNED TO DRIVING WHILE THE GAS SMELL BECAME STRONGER. RETURNED TO SERVICE, THIS TIME HE FOUND THE SOURCE TO BE THE FUEL PUMP. THE PROBLEM WAS ACTUALLY THE ELBOW PLASTIC NECK LEADING INTO THE FUEL PUMP WAS SPEWING GAS FROM AN INVISIBLE HAIRLINE CRACK. THE LEAK STOPS WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. THE LOCATION OF THE FUEL PUMP IS UNDER THE REAR SEAT - CAUSING A THICK SMELL OF GAS AND EXTREME DANGER OF EXPLOSION. I HAVE NEVER HAD REPAIR WORK ON THAT PART. THIS APPARENTLY IS DUE TO MANUFACTURE FLAW IN MATERIALS. I AM A NEW WIDOW AND LOOKING AT A $650 REPLACEMENT FUEL PUMP. I CONSIDERED DEALING WITH EPOXY BUT AM AFRAID THIS WILL CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGE AND RISK. *TR

THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A FRACTURED LEFT ARM, VARIOUS BODY BRUISES, RIGHT AND LEFT LEG INJURIES, AND FACIAL LACERATIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. DRIVING AND TRUCK JUST CUTS OFF. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND FIRST THEY THOUGHT IT WAS A MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR.. BUT THE PROBLEM STILL HAPPENED. THEN IT WAS SAID IT MIGHT BE THROTTLE BODY. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR LESS THAN A MONTH AGO AND ALREADY HAVING MAJOR PROBLEMS.

DRIVING ON MY WAY HOME MY WRENCH LIGHT TURNED ON. MY CAR STARTED HESITATING AND COULDN'T HAVE CONTROL OF MY SPEED. I CHECKED THE MANUAL AND THE IT READ THE PROBLEM WAS SOME ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. TAKING IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHAT THEY WILL SAY /FIX.

VEHICLE WOULD ENGAGE IN JERKY MOTION AND REDUCED POWER WHEN ACCELERATING TO HIGHWAY SPEED FOLLOWED BY "THROTTLE FAULT LIGHT" ON INSTRUMENT PANEL. MORE JERKY MOTION DURING DOWNSHIFT/DECELERATION. ODB2 CODE P2119
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR I SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE A TURN AND THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED.NO WARNING, SHAKING OR DECREASE IN SPEED. IT JUST STOPPED I TRIED RESTARTING BUT IT WOULDNT START UNTIL 10MINS LATER. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH NO PROBLEMS OR LIGHTS ON THE DASH BUT AFTER I LEFT (THEY COULDN'T SEE THE CAR UNTIL 4 DAYS LATER) LEAVING THE LOT THE ENGINE SEEMED TO STALL OFF AND ON FOR THE 5 MILE TRIP SO I WOULD PUT IT IN NEUTRAL WHEN I WOULD COME TO A LIGHT AND COAST TO A STOP, THEN RESTART. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND LATER THE ENGINE LIGHT. ALSO THE RPM 'S ON THE DASH WOULD GO UP TO 4-5 BUT MY ENGINE SPEED WOULD BE 40 MPH THIS SCARED ME SO BAD, I PARKED THE CAR UNTIL THE APPOINTMENT AT THE DEARLERSHIP WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC BUT KNOW CODES CAME UP. THEY DID FIX THE THROTTLE
VEHICLE WAS PARKED. OWNER OPENED THE REAR WINDOW. ON LATCH RELEASE (AND WINDOW UPSWING) THE LEFT SIDE OF THE WINDOW SHOT OUT AND FELL FROM THE CAR -- WINDOW WAS BEING HELD ONTO THE CAR ONLY BY THE GLASS LIFT SUPPORTS. THE WINDOW LIFTGATE HINGES HAD DETERIORATED/BROKEN APART FROM THE ANCHOR BOLT ON THE WINDOW. APPROXIMATELY 3-5 MONTHS PREVIOUSLY, OWNER NOTICED THAT A WHITE SUBSTANCE HAD STAINED THE REAR WINDOW JUST BELOW BOTH LIFTGATE HINGES.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while making a right turn at 10 MPH, the power steering failed with two unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact had to use excessive force to complete the turn. The contact stated that the failure initially began intermittently; however, the failure had become more frequent over the years. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where he was informed that his vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000 (Steering). The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and referred him to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

LOST POWER STEERING ASSIST WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE AT APPROX. 35MPH. IT WAS ALL I COULD DO JUST TO GET IT BACK HOME. I COULDN'T EVEN TURN IT TO GET INTO MY GARAGE! I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR VEHICLE YEARS 2008-2011. I CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL SINCE IT WAS MANUFACTURED ON MAY 26 2011. MY PROBLEM IS: I'M HAVING THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM AND WHO'S TO SAY THAT THESE PARTS WEREN'T MANUFACTURED AT THE SAME TIME THE DEFECTIVE ONES WERE?

2TIMES VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER, STEERING AND BRAKES. ADVISED IT IS DUE TO NEEDING A NEW THROTTLE BODY. BOTH TIMES THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY.
2ND TIME MY THROTTLE HAS BEEN REPLACED FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE RECALLS ON ALL FORD PROBLEMS.... NEEDS TO BE RECALLED
"TAKATA RECALL" A LIGHT POPPED ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A LOCAL CITY STREET A LIGHT THAT LOOKS LIKE A WRENCH AND IT IS CAUSING ME HESITATION WHILE DRIVING WON'T PICK UP SPEED OR GIVE ANY GAS.
THE THROTTLE BODY WENT OUT ON THE FREEWAY W/ O WARNING. I FOUND OUT FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS FOR YEARS AND HAS NOT DONE ANYYTHING ABOUT IT , IN MOTION
CAR KEEPS STALLING. WHILE ACCELERATING AS WELL AS AT FREEWAY SPEED (ON STREETS AND ON THE FREEWAY). THE OBD-II READER SAYS ITS CODE P2111 WHICH IS FOR THE THROTTLE BODY. GOT IT LEANED IMMEDIATELY AFTER STALL. IMMEDIATELY AFTER PICKING IT UP FROM THE SHOP, IT STALLED AGAIN, SHOWING THE SAME CODE ON THE READER. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH THESE SEEM TO BE DEFECTIVE ON MANY FORD ESCAPES OF THIS YEAR.
6 TIMES SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. 4TH, 5TH AND 6TH TIME ON 8/3/2016 ON U.S. 25 AT ABOUT 55 TO 60 MPH ALL IN ONE DAY. NO RESPONSE FROM GAS PEDAL, TACHOMETER DROPPED TO 0, WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. WAS ABLE TO COAST TO SIDE OF ROAD. MAINTAINED PWR STEERING/BRAKES. SHUT OFF ENGINE, RESTARTED/WORKED FINE, WRENCH LIGHT OFF. MILEAGE ABOUT 65,000. 1ST, 2ND IT HAPPENED ON SIDE ROADS IN TOWN AND THE 3RD I WAS ON A BUSY ROAD IN LEXINGTON KY ON VERSAILLES ROAD WHERE SEMIS WERE EVERYWHERE AND I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA GET HIT THEN. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DECELERATING, LIGHT AND THROTTLE RESET UPON SHUTTING OF AND RESTARTING CAR. FORD SAYS THEY WILL NOT REPAIR UNLESS CODE IS PRESENT, CODE ERASES WHEN CAR IS SHUT OFF AND WILL NOT DRIVE UNTIL CAR IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. THESE INCIDENTS FIT DESCRIPTION OF FORD "FIELD SERVICE ACTION" FOR ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY EXTENDED COVERAGE. V DANGEROUS!! I DO NOT WANT TO BE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WITH IT DOING ALL OF THIS ESPECIALYYY IF I HAVE MY GRANDKIDS IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME.
IN 2014, FORD RECALLED THE VEHICLE TO 'RECALIBRATE' THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE TO TO PREVENT ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY (ETB) FAILURE, BUT IN AUGUST 2016, THE VEHICLE SUFFERED ETB FAILURES RESULTING IN AN EXTREMELY LIMITED ABILITY TO ACCELERATE, ROUGH IDLE AND NOTICEABLE POWER LOSS. THE FIRST FAILURE OCCURRED IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON ONE OF THE BUSIEST HIGHWAYS (95) IN AMERICA WHERE TRAFFIC WAS CONGESTED BUT MOVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, AND A LOSS OF POWER WAS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AS I WAS UNABLE TO KEEP UP WITH THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC AND/OR MERGE ONTO ANOTHER HIGHWAY (66) AT A HIGH ENOUGH RATE OF SPEED. THE FAILURES CONTINUED TO HAPPEN ANYTIME THE VEHICLE WAS ON A HIGHWAY GOING BETWEEN 60-70 MPH. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FORD AS EARLY AS THEIR SCHEDULE WOULD PERMIT, BUT FORD WAS UNABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE AT THE TIME BECAUSE THE PART WAS ON "NATIONAL BACK ORDER" AND SIMPLY ADVISED TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER AND RESTART THE ENGINE TO "RESET" THE THROTTLE BODY. SUCH ADVICE WAS UNACCEPTABLE AND DANGEROUS. LIVING IN A HIGHLY CONGESTED AREA WHERE SOME HIGHWAYS AND TOLL BRIDGES DO NOT HAVE SHOULDERS TO PULL OVER ON NULLIFIED FORD'S INTERIM REMEDY. THEY WERE CLEARLY NOT CONCERNED ABOUT ANY DRIVER'S SAFETY WHILE WAITING FOR PARTS TO COME IN AS THEY DID NOT EVEN OFFER ANOTHER VEHICLE TO DRIVE IN THE MEANTIME.
4 SEPARATE TIMES WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AT ALL. LUCKILY, WAS ABLE TO STOP, TURN CAR OFF, RESTART, AND THE STEERING WHEEL UNLOCKED AND WAS ABLE TO PROCEED. THIS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN TWO WEEKS. VERY SCARY SITUATIONS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE IN REVERSE, THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY BECAME LOCKED AND WOULD NOT TURN. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING TORQUE SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.

IN JULY 2016 I WAS EXPERIENCING A FUEL ODOR IN THE ESCAPE. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC ON JULY 20, 2016 AND HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL PUMP GASKET. TOTAL COST FOR THOSE REPAIRS WA $643.44 (I HAVE THE RECEIPT). AM I ELIGIBLE FOR A REIMBURSEMENT?
POWER STEERING STARTED RANDOMLY GOING OUT. SOMETIMES T WOULD WORK AGAIN BY TURNING OFF AND TURNING BACK ON THE VEHICLE BUT THAT WAS ONLY TEMPORARY. I TOOK THE ESCAPE TO A FORD DEALER TO GET IT LOOKED AT. THIS YEAR WAS INCLUDED IN THE STEERING RECALL (14S05) BUT FOR SOME REASON, THIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM AND WAS THE SAME FIX AS THE RECALL IS. FRUSTRATING. I DID CALL TO LET FORD KNOW THE PROBLEM AND ASKED IF THEY WOULD INCLUDE MY VIN SINCE IT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY SAID NO BECAUSE IT'S TRACKED BY VIN AND MINE ISN'T INCLUDED. I TOOK THE DEFECTIVE TIRE TO THE FORD DEALER ON 05JUL2016 WHO ALSO INSPECTED AND FOUND NO DAMAGE. THE DEALER KEPT THE DEFECTIVE TIRE AND I AM AWAITING FURTHER INSTRUCTION FROM THE DEALER WHO HAS FILED A REPORT WITH GOODYEAR. THESE TIRES HAD APPROXIMATELY 20,000 MILES WHEN THIS HAPPENED. HELLO, A FEW MONTHS AGO I PURCHASED A USED 2011 FORD ESCAPE FLEX FUEL FROM INFINITY/VOLKSWAGEN OF FAIRFIELD, CA 94533. DURING THE TIME MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT, I HAVE EXPERIENCED SOME MAJOR TROUBLES WITH THE VEHICLE. WHEN DRIVING IN THE CITY OR ON THE HIGHWAY AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLES GAS PEDAL ALL OF A SUDDEN LOSES PRESSURE AND I HAVE NO MORE GAS. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND MY VEHICLE STARTED TO IDLE FUNNY, LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STOP RUNNING AND IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL, I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET. I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE THROTTLE BODY BEING BAD AND THAT FORD AND FORD GARAGES WHERE REFUSING TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH ALL THE VEHICLES DOING THIS AND I THINK THAT IS SO WRONG ON MANY LEVELS DUE TO FORD BEING A TOP MANUFACTURER OF VEHICLES THEY SHOULD STAND BY THE VEHICLES AND FIX ANY PROBLEMS THAT OCCUR WITH THE VEHICLES.
