TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND DECELERATED. THE SERVICE ENGINE NOW WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED IN NOVEMBER OF 2015 PER A MANUFACTURER RECALL FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE A SECOND TIME FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER, FAILED TO ACCELERATE, AND SHUT OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
THE POWER STEERING RANDOMLY GOES OUT. SOMETIMES IMMEDIATELY UPON TURNING THE VEHICLE ON, OTHER TIMES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGH WAY, SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING SLOW, OR TURNING. IT IS COMPLETELY RANDOM. THE QUICK/TEMPORARY FIX IS TO TURN THE VEHICLE BACK OFF AND ON AGAIN AND IT GOES AWAY FOR A WHILE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO FORD AND THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN WHICH COMES TO A TOTAL OF AROUND $1500. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEMS OTHER VEHICLES HAD THAT WERE A PART OF THE RECALL. MY YEAR IS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BUT FOR SOME REASON MY VIN IS NOT.
POWER STEERING STARTED GOING OUT AT THE BEGINNING OF JUNE 2016. IF I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON, IT WILL WORK. BUT, NOT ALWAYS. IT TENDS TO GO OUT WHEN TURNING CORNERS, BUT JUST THIS WEEK, IT WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS BY FORD EVEN THOUGH I HAVE SEEN THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR AND THE SAME PROBLEM!
I HAVE A 2011 FORD ESCAPE. I WAS DRIVING ON A 2 WAY STREET AND THE GAS PEDAL STOPPED WORKING OUT OF NOWHERE AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE BEFORE GETTING REAR ENDED. WHAT IS FRUSTRATING ABOUT THIS IS FORD HAD A RECALL A COUPLE YEARS AGO FOR MY MAKE AND MODEL FOR A BAD THROTTLE .. SAME EXACT ISSUE I HAD WHERE I WAS DRIVING AND COULDNT ACCELERATE. INSTEAD OF REPLACING THE THROTTLE THEY GAVE 1.6 MILLION CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM WARRANTIES.. SO BASICALLY YOU HAD TO HAVE AN ISSUE BEFORE IT WOULD BE REPLACED. I CALLED FORD CORP 5/23/16 AND BECAUSE MY VIN# WASNT ONE IN THE RECALL THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR MY $400 BILL. IT IS THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AS THE RECALL BUT SINCE MY VIN# IS DIFFERENT THEY WONT PAY. HOW DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE. LUCKILY I DIDNT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT . I FIND IT INCOMPREHENSIBLE THAT FORD RECALLS THE THROTTLE BODY IN THEIR CARS AND WILL NOT DO THE RIGHT THING AND PAY FOR MINE. I DRIVE THE HIGHWAY EVERYDAY TO WORK AND I CANT EVEN IMAGINE IF IT FAILED ON THE HIGHWAY. ALL BECAUSE I DONT HAVE THE RIGHT VIN#.. MAYBE THEY NEED TO CONSIDER EXPANDING THEIR VIN#'S. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE AND THE FACT THEY DONT CARE MAKES ME RETHINK MY NEXT CAR PURCHASE. WE HAVE 2 FORD'S NOW AND I DONT SEE A 3RD IN MY FUTURE.
LAST YEAR IT BEGAN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED THE POWER STEERING WOULD NOT WORK. YOU COULD SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART IT AND IT WOULD WORK. AS TIME WENT BY IT HAPPENED MORE FREQUENTLY AND I CALLED THE FORD DEALER ABOUT A RECALL SOMEONE HAD TOLD ME ABOUT AND WAS TOLD THAT OUR ESCAPE WAS NOT INCLUDED AND THAT I SHOULD FILE A COMPLAINT WITH YOU. I DID THAT LAST YEAR AND HAVE GOTTEN NO RESPONSE. IT HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. IT HAS BEEN SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED SO MANY TIMES THAT IT KILLED THE BATTERY. IT STILL HAD VOLTS BUT NO LONGER HAD ENOUGH COLD CRANKING AMPS TO START THE ENGINE. NOW IT HAS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING. WHEN IT STOPS IT ALMOST SNATCHES THE STEERING WHEEL OUT OF YOUR HANDS. THERE IS NEVER ANY WARNING AND NO WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. SOMETIMES WHEN IT IS QUIET IN THE CAR I CAN HEAR A CLICK COME FROM THE STEERING COLUMN AND IT EITHER QUITS WORKING OR IF IT WAS NOT WORKING IT START BACK. THREE DAYS AGO IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN AT AN INTERSECTION THAT HAS TWO TURN LANES AND I ALMOST HIT THE CAR NEXT TO ME. IF IT HAD HAPPENED WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING SHE PROBABLY WOULD HAVE HIT THEM. THERE IS A GOOD POSSIBILITY OF THIS AS IT IS HER VEHICLE. I AM DRIVING IT THIS WEEK BECAUSE I AM A LITTLE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH HER DRIVING IT. I LIVE IN MARYLAND AND WORK ALL WEEK IN NEW JERSEY. I HOPE IT DOES NOT HAPPEN WHILE I AM ON THE NJ TURNPIKE AS PEOPLE ON THERE LIKE TO STAY CLOSE AND GOES FAST. I REALLY HAVE NO CHOICE BECAUSE WE HAVE TO BE ABLE TO GO TO WORK AND CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL POSSIBILITIES THAT GO FROM SOFTWARE PROGRAMING, SENSOR REPLACEMENT OR STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT. IT IS OBVIOUS FROM THE SYMPTOMS THAT IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BUT HAS NOT BEEN.
I FILED A COMPLAINT THE OTHER DAY BUT IT HAS GOTTEN SO MUCH WORSE THAT I HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PSCM WAS BAD. ALMOST $1300. IT WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL I HAVE THE MONEY FOR IT. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM AS RECALL #14S05 BUT IT DOES NOT REACH OUR MANUFACTURER DATE. IT IS TIME FOR THEM TO STEP UP AND EXTEND THE RECALL TO COVER ALL OF THE DATES BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED WHEN THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN LIKE HAPPENED TO ME THE OTHER DAY. I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN IN THE INSIDE TURNING LANE WHEN IT STOPPED WORKING. NOT ONLY DID I LOSE POWER STEERING BUT IT SNATCHED THE WHEEL OUT OF MY HAND. I ALMOST HIT THE CAR NEXT TO ME BEFORE I GOT CONTROL OF IT. IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING, AND IT IS HER VEHICLE, SHE WOULD HAVE HIT THE CAR NEXT TO HER. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT WE ARE THE ONLY ONES COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS. THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BECAUSE IT IS GOING TO PUT A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP ON US TO GET IT FIXED.
VEHICLE ENGINE SUDDENLY AND RANDOMLY CUTS OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY, OR SOON AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE, IN MOTION LEAVING A PARKING LOT. THE ACCELERATOR BECOMES UNRESPONSIVE AND THE CAR SPUTTERS TO A STOP. WHEN YOU TRY TO RESTART THE CAR IT TURNS ON AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED.

TAKATA RECALL STOPPED AT STOP SIGN TRIED TO MOVE FORWARD WOULD ONLY MOVE AT A TINY CRAWL RED WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON MADE IT HOME STILL ONLY BARELY MOVING. TURNED MOTOR OFF RESTARTED EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE BACK TO NORMAL. NOW I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IN VERY MUCH TRAFFIC. IF THIS HAPPENS ON BUSY HIGHWAY COULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO.
MY 2011 FORD ESCAPE LIMITED VIN NUMBER [XXX] WHILE DRIVING LOSES ALL ACCELERATION WHICH REQUIRES ME TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TURN IT OFF AND RESTART THE CAR SO IT WILL RUN NORMAL AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED 6 TIMES TO ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER GETTING THE CODES RUN IT CAME BACK WITH P2111 - THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM - STUCK OPEN. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ONLINE AND TO BE HONEST IT IS A VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE WHEN IT HAPPENS BECAUSE IT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING, I AM LUCKY IT DIDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR WORSE. I CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY (ETB), UP TO AND INCLUDING THE COMPLETE SHUTDOWN OF THE SYSTEM. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE ABIDED BY ALL SERVICE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THIS MAKE/MODEL. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE ETB RUNS OUT AT 100K (VEHICLE CURRENTLY AT 75K). THERE ARE TIMES THE VEHICLE SHIFTS SO VIOLENTLY THAT ONE WOULD BELIEVE THEY'VE BEEN REAR-ENDED. WHEN I TAKE MY VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP (5 TIMES, 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS), I'M TOLD THEY RE-PROGRAM THE SYSTEM AND TO GIVE IT ANOTHER 500 TO 1000 MILES FOR THE SYSTEM TO RELEARN MY DRIVING HABITS. THE "REBOOT" LASTS BETWEEN 800 TO 1500 MILES ON AVERAGE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE ETB CAN'T BE REPLACED IN ITS ENTIRETY AT THIS POINT.
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED ON A SIDE STREET, POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING AND ERROR "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" CAME UP. POWER STEERING COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. WITH MUCH DIFFICULTY VEHICLE DRIVEN TO FORD DEALERSHIP. COULD NOT BE DRIVEN BY PERSON WITHOUT EXTREME STRENGTH. UNSAFE FOR ANYONE TO DRIVE! ADVISED THAT NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL AND COST TO REPAIR ALMOST $1200.
WHILE MERGING ONTO THE INTERSTATE THE THE CAR SUDDENLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AT FULL THROTTLE. TEMP ~30 DEG, ROAD - DRY PAVEMENT ODOMETER: 110367.0 MILES. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED IN SEPTEMBER 2015 BY THE FORD DEALER, AS WELL AS A NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM AT THE SAME TIME. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THE DAY BEFORE. INCIDENT: I DO NOT KNOW MY ACTUAL SPEED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT BECAUSE I WAS MERGING ON TO THE INTERSTATE. IT WAS A LONG RAMP, I AM PRETTY SURE I WAS GOING AT LEAST 45MPH. I WAS ACCELERATING TO MERGE ON. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE STARTED TO RACE AND THE CAR PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE EVEN FASTER. I IMMEDIATELY PUSHED ON MY BRAKES WHICH HELPED TO KEEP ME FROM HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RACE AS I WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKE. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND STEERED MY WAY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND ONCE I STOPPED I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK. I PROCEEDED TO TRY TO START THE CAR, BUT THE ENGINE RACED LIKE IT WAS AT FULL THROTTLE. I IMMEDIATELY SHUT IT OFF. I TRIED TWO MORE TIMES WITH THE SAME RESULT. I CALLED MY HUSBAND'S MECHANIC WHOSE BUSINESS WAS CLOSE BY TO ASK HIS OPINION ABOUT WHAT TO DO NEXT. WITH HIM LISTENING ON THE PHONE, I STARTED THE ENGINE, BUT THIS TIME IS STARTED UP CORRECTLY. MAYBE A TOTAL OF 10 MINUTES HAD PASSED FROM THE FIRST INSTANCE OF ME HAVING TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THIS LAST TRY WHEN IT STARTED CORRECTLY. I DROVE THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC'S BUSINESS ABOUT 5 MILES AWAY. I WANTED HIM TO CHECK THE CODE FOR WHY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND IF THAT WAS A FACTOR FOR THE THROTTLE ISSUE. THE CODE FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT READ: CODE#: P0456 - (EVAP) SYSTEM LEAK DETECTED ( VERY SMALL LEAK). WE ALSO CHECKED THE FLOOR MATS, BUT THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THEM. POWER TRAIN , I WAS DRIVING ON I-4 AND DRIVING WITH THE TRAFFIC AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR JUST STARTS TO JERK AND CUTS OFF, NEEDLESS TO SAY I GOT OFF ON SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND TURNED CAR OFF. I WAS SCARED BECAUSE I LOOKED IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR AND I THOUGHT I WAS DEAD. I HAD TO SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES BECAUSE I WAS SCARED TO THINK I COULD HAVE DIED TODAY. RESEARCHING IT REALLY ANGERS ME BECAUSE THIS COULD AND CAN BE PREVENTED. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO GET A RECALL. AS FOR THE CAR IT STARTED BACK UP AND GOT ME HOME. I CANNOT SAY I AM SAFE IN MY OWN CAR. THIS CAR IS A DEATH TRAP PLEASE CALL A RECALL BEFORE MYSELF OR ANYONE OF THE OTHERS GETS KILLED.
MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT HAS REPEATING CAME ON AND OFF AS WELL AS UPON PRESSING THE ACCELERATION A FEELING OF NOISE IS NOTICEABLE. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO BE VERY CONCERN WITH THE SAFETY OF DRIVING ON 30+ MINUTE COMMUTES DAILY. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE SHOP WITH NOTHING DETECTABLE YET THE NOISE AND LIGHT PERSIST.
THE BACK GLASS EXPLODED SPONTANEOUSLY. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS WITH IN A FEW FEET. WE FOUND GLASS FRAGMENTS IN THE BACK SEAT, CARGO AREA, ALL OVER THE DRIVE WAY, AND IN A SEMI-CIRCLE SEVERAL FEET AROUND THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. IT WAS JUST PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN OR ENTERED SINCE THE NIGHT BEFORE.

THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ASKED DEALERSHIP TO FIX AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT UNLESS VEHICLE REPLICATED ISSUE AT THE DEALERSHIP. I FEEL THE ISSUE NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE DO TO FUTURE SAFETY ISSUES
WHILE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MPH THAN ALL OF A SUDDEN LOSES POWER. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO AUTONATION FORD KATY AND WAS TOLD THEIR IS A RECALL FOR ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. ASKED PROPERTY TO REPAIR TOLD THEY COULD NOT DO SO UNLESS VEHICLE SHOWED ISSUE AT THE DEALERSHIP. I THINK THIS IS AN UNSAFE PRACTICE AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED ASAP.
STALLING OUT IN TRAFFIC SPEEDING UP FOR NO REASON.ALL SYMPTOMS POINT TO THROTTLE BODY EXACTLY WHAT THEY DESCRIBED TO ME AT MY LOCAL DEALER! BUT TOLD ME THEY WILL NOT FIX IT UNTIL IT SETS A CODE !!!!!!!!!!! IN THE MEAN TIME I AM AFRAID I WILL GET HURT BECAUSE IT HAS STALLED IN TRAFFIC . I AM REALLY CONCERENED FOR MY SAFETY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT WAS WALKING TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE TO PUT LUGGAGE IN THE TRUNK AND NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS ROLLING TOWARDS HER. THE CONTACT DOVE TO THE GROUND ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO AVOID BEING HIT. THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACK AND STRUCK THE POLE TO THE BUILDING. THERE WERE NO OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE OWNER RECEIVED INJURIES TO HER KNEE AND BACK WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOWED OR TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
I HAD OIL LEAKAGE IN JAN 2015 AND TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID ITS PTO SIDE COVER GASKET LEAKING. CAR HAD ONLY 48117 MILES. HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY. THEY FIXED IT. NOW AGAIN IN A YEAR I TOOK CAR FOR REGULAR OIL CHANGE AND THEY DISCOVER OTHER LEAK. I DON'T SEE OIL ON THE GARAGE FLOOR THOUGH. THIS TIME IT'S TIMING COVER GASKET. DON'T HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY ANY MORE. THEY SAID IT WILL COST $1340 PLUS TAX. I TOOK IT FOR SECOND OPINION AND THEY SAID NO LEAKAGE ON TIMING COVER GASKET BUT SAME LEAK WHAT I HAD IT LAST YEAR. THEY WORDED DIFFERENTLY. THEY CALL IT TRANSFER CASE COVER LEAKING. CAR HAS ONLY 66300 MILES. NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY CAR CAN HAVE LEAKAGE PROBLEM IN SUCH LOW MILEAGE. FORD NEED TO LOOK INTO THESE.
OCCUPANT CONTROL MODULE IN PASSENGER SEAT IS FAULTY. I AM TOLD THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG OR ALL AIRBAGS MAY OR MAY NOT INFLATE IN A COLLISION. THERE ARE NO KNOWN RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE. THERE WAS NO KNOWN DAMAGE OR INCIDENT THAT CAUSED THIS SYSTEM TO FAIL. IT OCCURRED SLOWLY OVER SEVERAL MONTHS AND EVENTUALLY QUIT COMPLETELY. THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYED ON PERMANENTLY AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS OF THE CAR'S IGNITION BEING ON OR THE CAR ENGINE RUNNING. THE INVOICE FROM THE DIAGNOSTIC IS ATTACHED.
I HAVE BEEN IN TWO MINOR ACCIDENTS AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE POWER STEERING FAILING WHILE DRIVE. THE STEERING FAILS ONCE A DAY AND DOES SO, USUALLY WHEN MAKE A HARD OR SHARP TURN. ONCE, THE POWER STEERING DISENGAGED, REVERTING TO MANUEL, WHILE I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH! FORD REFUSED TO REPAIR THE DEFECTIVE STEALING AFTER MORE THAN 10 CONTACTS WITH THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE AND MULTIPLE FORD DEALERS. THEY REFERRED ME TO THEIR 'LEGAL DEPARTMENT' AND REFUSED TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE STEERING.
OUR FORD STALLS THEN JERKS/JUMPS WHEN ACCELERATING AT TIMES. IT'S STARTING TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN. IT MAINLY HAPPENS AFTER TURNING ON AND DRIVING IT FOR THE FIRST TIME DURING THAT DAY ALTHOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHERE IT WILL STILL DO IT EVEN AFTER IT HAS BEEN RUNNING THROUGHOUT THE DAY.

CHECKED ON INTERNET AND FOUND THAT FORD HAS HAD A PROBLEM FOR YEARS WITH THE MODEL VEHICLE. WENT TO THE FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRENTY. CALLED FORD SERVICE REP AND WAS TOLD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE CHECKED AND THAT BECAUSE OF THE LOW MILEAGE, THEY MAY REPAIR IT.

WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE THE POWER STEERING WILL NOT ENGAGE. AFTER ONE OR MORE TRIES IT WILL FINALLY ENGAGE. ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION THE STEERING DISENGAGED WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND HAD TO BE STOPPED AND RESTARTED AS ABOVE. MY LOCAL GARAGE FOUND ERROR CODE B1342 AND CONFIRMED BY A FORD DEALER. THE CODE MEAN THE STEERING COLUMN MUST BE REPLACED. THE DEALER SAID THE VEHICLE IN NOT COVERED BY THE RECAĺL 14S05. I SPOKE TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A CASE # WAS OPENED. WHEN I CALLED TO INQUIRE KEVIN SAID A CASE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN OPENED AND AN INTERNAL INQUIRY WOULD BE STARTED. FORD OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T WANT COMPLAINTS RECORDED. THIS IS A FORD MISTAKE AND A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED AT THEIR EXPENSE. FORD EXECUTIVES ARE UNACCOUNTABLE AND APPARENTLY ONLY WORRIED ABOUT THE BOTTOM LINE AND THEIR BONUSES. THEY TRIED TO MEET THEIR SAFETY OBLIGATION BY UPDATING SOFTWARE IN SOME VEHICLES THAT WARNS STEERING IS ABOUT TO FAIL. THAT IS UNETHICAL AND NO HELP WHEN GOING 70 MPH ON A THREE OR FOUR LANE HIGHWAY. THIS UNIT HAS BEEN THE SUBJECT OF PREVIOUS RECALL 14V284000, HOWEVER THIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED AFTER THE CUTOFF DATE ACCORDING TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. ( CASE #8247746-B4F4D1). I HAD MY OIL CHANGED ON 10-03-15. ON 10-17-15, MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR STALLED AND JERKED WHEN I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND WHEN IT WAS IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $110 JUST TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG AND THAT WOULD NOT GO TOWARD REPAIRS. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO DID A SYSTEM CHECK AND SAID IT WAS THE CAMSHAFT TIMER. IT WAS REPLACED BUT THAT DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD I HAD TO HAVE THE VVT SOLENOID TIMER AND THE IGNITION COIL REPLACED. HE SAID THE ENGINE OIL BURNED THESE ITEMS. I ONLY HAVE MY OIL CHANGED BY FORD. I HAD JUST REACHED 60,130 MILES ON MY VEHICLE, SO THERE WAS NO WARRANTY. I THINK THIS WAS AN EXPENSE THAT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED, ESPECIALLY IF IT WAS AN OIL ISSUE.

THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2008 - 2011 FORD ESCAPES BUT MINE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BUT HAS THE SAME DANGEROUS PROBLEM AS THE CARS THAT WERE RECALLED. FORD WILL NOT TELL ME WHY MY 2011 WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL. THE COST OF REPAIR IS APPROXIMATELY $1,000. DRIVING CAR HOME AFTER WORK - SLOWED DOWN AND STOPPED AFTER TRAFFIC LIGHT CHANGE. PRESSED ON ACCELERATOR AND CAR SHUDDERED WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP HOME MODE. TURNED INTO PARKING LOT AND SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED ENGINE. THE ENGINE RPM SUDDENLY WENT TO ABOUT 7000 RPM WITH THE NO PUSH OF THE ACCELERATOR. ENGINE EVENTUALLY NORMALIZED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. MY HUSBAND TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM WITH THE CAR GOING NON RESPONSIVE INTO LIMP HOME MODE. HE TROUBLESHOT THE ISSUE TO THE THROTTLE BODY. AFTER REMOVING THE THROTTLE BODY, CLEANING IT, AND RECALIBRATING , THE ISSUE DISAPPEARED. HE IS GOING TO REPLACE THE PART FOR SAFETY SINCE THIS ISSUE HAPPENING AT HIGHWAY SPEED COULD BECOME DANGEROUS.
