COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE AND CRACKED THE ENGINE BLOCKS BACK IN JULY OF 2017. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. MARCH 5TH 2018 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THIS TIME, THE CODE IS FOR A COOLANT BYPASS VALVE THAT THEY'RE NOT COVERING UNDER WARRANTY. WE MISSED THE RECALL BY 10 DAYS PRODUCTION DATE. THIS PART WAS RECALLED FOR A REASON AND OUR CAR SHOULD BE INCORPORATED INTO THAT RECALL DESPITE THE PRODUCTION DATE.
EXPERIENCING THE SAME EXACT ISSUES AS NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V813000. FORD KEEPS LOOKING INTO THIS PROBLEM BUT SAY NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. CAR STALLED SEVERAL TIMES IN LIVE TRAFFIC AND ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH. ENGINE SHUTS OFF UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN DRIVING. THE MAP SENSOR FINALLY THREW A CODE P0106 AND AFTER REPLACEMENT IT RAN FINE FOR A DAY AND STALLED AGAIN WHICH POINTS TO THE HARNESS. THE INCIDENTS WHERE IT ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH WHERE WHEN I WAS ON I75 AND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SLOWED DOWN, I PRESSED THE BREAKS AND MY CAR LOST COMPLETE ENGINE POWER WHICH WAS VERY SCARY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO GULF COAST FORD (LOCATED AT 3000 STATE HWY 288, ANGLETON, TX 77515, (713) 422-7200) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MAP SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SETH WADLEY FORD LINCOLN (LOCATED AT 333 N, BUTLER ROAD, PAULS VALLEY, OK 73075, (877) 710-2709) WHERE THEY WIGGLED SOME WIRES AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR TURNED OFF; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 17452552. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,572. *TT CONSUMER STATED VEHICLE WOULD STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC RANDOMLY. *JB
THE VEHICLE IS HAVING ENGINE COOLING PROBLEMS. FIRST, THE ENGINE COOLANT DROPPED SO LOW THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING WHILE ON VACATION (SUMMER 2017). GOT THE COOLANT REFILLED AND THEN THE LEVEL STARTED DROPPING AGAIN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WATER PUMP WAS REPLACED (FALL 2017). NOW THE ENGINE COOLANT LIGHT IS ON AGAIN; THEY SAY IT HAS TO DO WITH HOSES CONNECTING THE COOLING SYSTEM TO THE ENGINE. THEY BELIEVE THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE BUT IT WILL BE 4-6 WEEKS BEFORE THEY CAN REPLACE THE HOSES. THEY WILL LET ME RENT A CAR FROM THEM (WINTER 2018).
CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING AND WILL NOT START BACK UP
I WENT TO OPEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND THE HANDLE AND LOCK FELL OFF. THIS, I AM SURE IS NOT NORMAL. I HAVE AND I OWN OLDER VEHICLES WHERE THE HANDLE HAD NEVER FALLEN OFF. I AM ABLE TO BUT THE HANDLE BACK ON TEMPORARILY BUT I CANT GET THE LOCK TO STAY IN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE CONTACT NOTICED A STRONG BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE VENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO (J C LEWIS FORD IN SAVANNAH, GEORGIA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A CRACKED HEAD BETWEEN CYLINDERS TWO AND THREE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000.
CAR IGNITED GOING 70 MPH DOWN THE INTERSTATE. I 85 JEFFERSON GA
I BOUGHT THE CAR 09/03/13. ON 05/26/16, I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK & ON A PARKWAY AS I WAS ACCELERATING TO 45 MPH, THE ENGINE REVVED TO APPROXIMATELY 6500 RPMS WITHOUT ENGAGING THE GEAR, THEN SHIFTED. ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER, I STOPPED AT A LIGHT ON A THREE-LANE ROAD (40 MPH SPEED LIMIT). WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL AND THE ENGINE REVVED BUT DID NOT ENGAGE; I SLID BACKWARD. I BRAKED TO STOP FROM HITTING THE CAR BEHIND, LET THEM PASS, THEN TURNED OFF THE CAR, AS I SMELLED BURNING. I TURNED THE CAR ON & PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL UNTIL EVENTUALLY IT ENGAGED IN FIRST GEAR & WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ENOUGH TO GET OFF THE ROAD. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THERE WAS A LEAK FOUND TO BE DUE TO TSB 3B16-0043. TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE DISASSEMBLED, CLEANED, AND REBUILT DUE TO HIGH AMOUNTS OF DEBRIS. EVEN AFTER THE REPAIR, THE CAR WOULD STILL SHUDDER INTERMITTENTLY WHEN I SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE & WENT TO ACCELERATE. ON 02/12/18, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN WHILE I WAS IN MOTION AT APPROX. 25 MPH IN STOP & GO TRAFFIC. I PUSHED THE GAS, THE TRANSMISSION DIDN'T RESPOND; THE ENGINE JUST REVVED. I WAS STILL IN MOTION, SLOWED DOWN, THEN PUSHED THE GAS AGAIN & IT SHUDDERED THEN SHIFTED. I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY & PUT THE CAR IN PARK. I TESTED IT BY TRYING TO DRIVE FORWARD; THE CAR SLID BACKWARDS. I DIDN'T PUSH THE PEDAL ENOUGH TO ENGAGE FIRST GEAR AS I DIDN'T WANT TO CAUSE DAMAGE. I WAS AGAIN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND AGAIN THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED A TEARDOWN, CLEANING, & REBUILD DUE TO DEBRIS. BASED ON BOTH TICKETS, I BELIEVED THE CENTER SUPPORT IS A DEFECTIVE PART; I LEARNED TODAY THERE IS A NEW RECALL, 18V471000, FOR A BUSHING THAT ATTACHES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION. UNKNOWN IF THIS IS THE CAUSE. CAR IS AGAIN SHUDDERING WHEN SHIFT R TO D THEN ACCELERATING. I HAVE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT.
COOLANT CONSTANTLY INTO ENGINE. I HAVE HAD IT REPAIRED NUMEROUS WITH SAME PROBLEMS. TRUCK POWER CONSTANTLY FLICKERS AND IT'S SHAKES AND SOMETIMES CUTS OFF WILL I'M DRIVING
CAR BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR LIGHT CAME ON RED LIGHT IN BOTTOM RIGHT OF CONSOLE, THEN IMMEDIATELY EXCLAMATION POINT CAME ON WITH MESSAGE ENGINE OVERHEATING STOP SAFELY. WHEN I HAD ONLY DRIVEN 1 1/2 ON A CITY STREET. THE MESSAGE CAME ON WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO STOP AT A STOP LIGHT. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND AS SOON AS I SLOWED DOWN TO STOP STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND IT TURNED OFF. EVEN 3 HOURS OF SITTING WHEN I TURN THE KEY TO ACCESSORY OVERHEAT LIGHT AND MESSAGE APPEARED AS WELL AS WHEN THE TOW TRUCK DROPPED IT OFF AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THERE IS A RECALL ON 2013 FORD ESCAPE 1.6 SE FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY TELL ME MINE ISN'T PART OF THE RECALL.
DRIVERS DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE STICKS IN THE OPEN POSITION WHEN PULLED ON TO OPEN DOOR. SOMETIMES STICKING OPEN SEVERAL SECONDS AND LONGER.
CAR SAYS ENGINE OVERHEATING AND COMPLETELY DISABLES THE CARS ENGINE TO WHERE IT WILL STOP YOU MID DRIVING. I WAS GOING 70 MPH GOT THE WARNING AND IMMEDIATELY THE CAR DROPPED MY SPEED TO 5MPH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. HAD TO DODGE AND WEAVE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STILL WAS MID WAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE EMERGENCY AND RIGHT LANE OF THE HIGHWAY.
MY CAR WAS RECENTLY INSPECTED AND IT REQUIRED ALL NEW LUG NUTS GO GET THE TIRES OFF TO CHECK THE BRAKES. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF LUG NUTS RUSTING AND HAVING TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT SEVERAL FORDS HAVE HAD TO HAVE THEM REPLACED. I HAD A FLAT TIRE LAST FALL. WHEN AAA CAME, THEY COULD NOT GET THE LUG NUTS OFF THE WHEEL. THEY HAD TO POUND IT OFF SO I COULD GET A TIRE ON IT. THIS DOES NOT SOUND FAIR TO HAVE TO PAY $133.00 FOR 20 NEW LUG NUTS - IT SOUNDS LIKE A DEFECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO OVERHEAT. THE CONTACT COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, POWERED OFF THE ENGINE, RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING. THE FAILURE RECURRED A FEW TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GLENN FORD LINCOLN (4080 LEXINGTON RD, NICHOLASVILLE, KY 40356, (859) 587-9020) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLANT WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V551000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
CONSTANTLY LOSES COOLANT FLUID AND ENGINE STALLS AT TIMES, I UNDERSTAND FORD HAS RECALLED THIS YEAR AND MODEL FOR THIS, BUT THEY KEEP TELLING ME OUR VIN# IS NOT ON RECALL LIST, BUT IT IS DOING WHAT THEY HAVE RECALLED OTHER SAME YEAR SAME MODELS FOR
CAR ALWAYS SPUTTERS AFTER FILLING GAS TANK!! FAULTY EVAP VALVE
WE HAD A FLAT TIRE HOWEVER WHEN GOING TO CHANGE IT THE LUG WRENCH THAT WAS SUPPLIED WITH THE CAR WOULD NOT FIT ON THE LIG NUTS. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD US IT WAS A 19MM WHICH WE PURCHASED AND THEAT DIDN'T WORK. WE THEN PURCHASED A 3/4' SOCKET WHICH WOULDN'T WORK EITHER AND HAD TO BE DRIVEN ON WITH A HAMMER TO TURN THE LUGS AND IT DEFORMED THE LIGS TO A POIBT THEY WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. MY 20 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS PUT IN A POSITION WHERE SHE COULDN'T MAKE A SIMPLE TIRE CHAMGE WITH HER BOYFRIENDS HELP. I SPEND MONEY AND SEVERAL HOURS (3 PLUS ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WHO COULD NOT GET THE LUG NUTS LOOSE. MY DAUGHTER WAS PUT IN DANGER BY POORLY DESIGNED EQUIPMENT AND I HAVE SPENT $50.00 AND SEVERAL HOURS ON A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD AHVE TAKEN 20 MINUTES HAD THE EQUIPMENT AND LUG NUTS HAD BEEN PROPERLY DESIGNED. I KNOW THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTS ON SEVERAL FORD VEHICLES AND SHOULD BE ADRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER WITH LUG NUTS MADE OF AN APPROPRIATE ALLOY, AND A LUG WRENCH THAT WILL ACTUALLY REMOVE THE NITS IN AN EMERGENCY. IF SOMETHING HAD HAPPENED TO MY DAUGHTER BECAUSE SHE WAS EXPOSED FOR LONGER THAN SHPULD BE REWUIRED FORD WOULD HAVE HAD A LAWSUIT IN ABOUT TEN MINUTES...
1. ENGINE STANDPIPE FAULTY, WHICH CAUSES THE FORD ESCAPE SEL TO GO INTO CRAWL MODE AND THEN YOU HAVE TO STOP AND LEAVES YOU STRANDED. THE DASHBOARD ENGINE THERMOMETER READS FULLY HOT. THIS HAPPENED IN MOTION ON MY WAY TO WORK DURING WINTER IN ERIE PA, THE SNOW HEADQUARTERS. 2. BATTERY GOES DEAD INTERMITTENTLY AND LEAVES YOU STRANDED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AVIS FORD (29200 TELEGRAPH RD, SOUTHFIELD, MI 48034, (248) 355-7500) FOR ROUTINE SERVICE. THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED OIL LEAKING INTO THE COOLANT SYSTEM. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE GASKET BECAME LOOSE AND CAUSED OIL TO LEAK INTO THE COOLANT SYSTEM. THE GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE OIL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: CAS-14212661. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,096.
ENGLINE LIGHT COMES ON DUE TO COOLANT LEAK. LEAK HAS BEEN FIXED AND CONTINUES TO OVERHEAT THE ENGINE. MOST OF THE COOLANT CONTAINER, VALVES AND EVERYTHING ELSE HAS BEEN FIXED STILL IT CONTINUES. SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG. THE CAR IS STATIONERY, JUST AFTER STARTING IT SAYS COOLANT IS LOW AND ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. I HAVE POURED MONEY INTO THIS CAR FOR COOLANT ISSUES FOR THE PAST YEAR, AND IT IS STILL HAPPENING.

OVER TIME, THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED A COOLANT LEAK. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V431000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TINDOL FORD (1901 E FRANKLIN BLVD, GASTONIA, NC 28054, (704) 867-8341) AND COOLANT WAS PURCHASED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 3 YEARS WITH NO ISSUES UNTIL THIS MONTH. IT FIRST STARTED WITH THE CAR LEAKING COOLANT. COME TO FIND OUT, THE ENTIRE WATER PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A CRACK. ONCE THAT WAS REPLACED, THERE WAS STILL A LEAK IN ONE OF THE HOSES; THAT WAS REPLACED. THEN THE CAR IS STALLING. AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS OF DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, A SENSOR HAD BURNT BECAUSE OF THE OVERHEATING FROM THE COOLANT ISSUES PREVIOUS TO THE CAR STALLING. THE SENSOR WAS FIXED AND I HAD THE CAR BACK A WEEK, AND THE CAR STARTED STALLING AGAIN, HESITATING TO ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY, AND HAS A VERY ROUGH IDLE WHERE THE CAR SHAKES. I TOOK IT BACK AND NO ENGINE CODE OR FAILURES SHOWED UP ON THE COMPUTER WHEN THE CAR WOULD STALL OUT. THIS CAR STALLS IF IT IS SITTING FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME RUNNING, OR WHEN IT IS STARTED AND I GO TO ACCELERATE AND LEAVE A PARKING SPOT OR DRIVEWAY. THE BATTERY IS BRAND NEW, THE ALTERNATOR IS PROVIDING ENOUGH ELECTRICAL CURRENT TO POWER THE VEHICLE, THERE IS CURRENTLY NO EXPLANATION TO WHY THIS CAR IS STALLING OUT. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE BECAUSE THERE ARE RECALLS OUT FOR THIS MAKE, MODEL AND ENGINE TYPE, BUT THEY TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE MY VIN COMES BACK CLEAN, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. FURTHER INTO MY RESEARCH, THERE ARE RECALLS OUT FOR THE DATE MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED AND THE PLANT IT WAS MANUFACTURED AT BUT FORD IS NOT WILLING TO LISTEN TO MY CONCERNS/COMPLAINTS.
I HAVE A FORD ESCAPE 13 AND IS ALWAYS OVER HEATING ON ME,I HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT 5 TIMES , .AND THEY CAN NOT FINE THE PROBLEM WITH IT, I GO OUT TO GET IN THE CAR AND IT GETS HOT RIGHT NOW ,WHEN I TRY TO DRIVE IT, THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVER SENSE I BUT THE CAR 12/17
HID HEADLAMP SHUTTERS STICK IN HIGH BEAM POSITION IN COLD WEATHER. FORD ONLY SELLS COMPLETE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES, AS THE SOLENOID THAT CONTROLS THE SHUTTER IS SEALED INSIDE THE HOUSING AND NOT ACCESSIBLE. THE DESIGN DROPS THE SHUTTER WHEN THE SOLENOID IS ACTIVATED FOR HIGH BEAMS AND THE RETURN SPRING(?) IS APPARENTLY NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO COUNTERACT GRAVITY AND GET THE SHUTTER BACK TO THE RAISED LOW BEAM POSITION FOR PROPER LIGHT CUTOFF. THE RESULT IS THAT HIGH BEAMS STAY ON AND HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BLIND ONCOMING DRIVERS, CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. FORD HAS SO FAR REFUSED TO WARRANTY THE ISSUE AND EXPECTS THE CUSTOMER TO COUGH UP $1300 LIST PRICE PLUS LABOR PER HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY TO GET THE ISSUE FIXED.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS LOSING POWER AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SHE NOTICED SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE HOOD. SHE IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. SMOKE STARTED FILLING THE CAR SO SHE AND OUR DAUGHTER EVACUATED THE CAR. THIS CAR CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED TO THE GROUND. SHE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR A DOOR LATCH BUT NEVER FOR AN ENGINE FIRE.
WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY LOSE POWER AND DISPLAY "ENGINE MALFUNCTION". IT WOULD SPUTTER BUT NOT STALL. TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING RETURNED THE SUV TO NORMAL. THIS OCCURRED 3 MORE TIMES OVER THE NEXT WEEK. HOWEVER, ON FEB 16, THE SUV DID NOT RESET AND THE CHECK ENGINE CAME ON. THE NEXT DAY, BEFORE WE TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF. NONETHELESS, THE MECHANIC SCANNED THE SUV AND CODES P2101 AND P2111 APPEARED. BOTH CODES REFER TO THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY AND IT BEING STUCK OPEN. FORD HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE ETB AND THERE IS THEIR "CONSUMER SATISFACTION SERVICE #13N03 THAT ADDRESSES THE ETB FLAW. NOW FOR THE FUN PART: OUR VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE #13N03 "SERVICE" THOUGH IT IS A VEHICLE THAT FITS WITHIN THE RANGE OF THE "SERVICE" AND OBVIOUSLY DISPLAYS THE EBT PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

FOR THE LAST TEN MONTHS OR SO, MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN STALLING WHEN PULLING OUT AFTER STARTING (IN BOTH HOT AND COLD ENGINE SITUATIONS); ALMOST ALWAYS INTO TRAFFIC. IT OCCURS AS SERIES OF 3 OR 4 CONSECUTIVE STALLS - HAS ALWAYS RESTARTED. THIS RANDOM STALLING HAS AND CONTINUES TO TAKE PLACE 3 - 6 TIMES A MONTH. THE CLOSEST CALL I EXPERIENCED WAS IN A LARGE ACTIVE PARKING LOT. I DO BELIEVE THIS HAS OFTEN OCCURRED TURNING OUT OF DRIVEWAYS AND PARKING LOTS. IN APRIL OF 2016, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE AND DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER (GARY FORD, 1 BEAL PKWY NW, FORT WALTON BEACH, FL 32548) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A HOSE THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN BACK TO THE DEALER A FEW MONTHS LATER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH AN OIL LEAK, A CRACK IN THE LONG BLOCK, AND COOLANT IN THE CYLINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS THE SAME FAILURE AS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL IN 2014, WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT ONLY THE DEALER WOULD BE ABLE TO ASSIST DUE TO THE INFORMATION ON THEIR END STATING THAT THE RECALL HAD BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
1/20/18 -DRIVING VEHICLE TO STORE WITH HEATER ON, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, CAR TEMPERATURE START GOING UP AS IF IT WAS OVER HEATING, AND CAR STARTED SPUTTERING AS IF IT WAS GOING TO TURN OFF. MADE IT HOME, CHECKED COOLANT, AND COOLANT WAS FULL. DROVE CAR TO FORD DEALERSHIP, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE; HOWEVER, MY SPECIFIC VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL SO NOW I AM OUT OF POCKET $500. SERVICE DEPT. STATED THAT IF I DID NOT CORRECT ISSUE ASAP THEN COOLANT COULD GET ON ENGINE AND START A FIRE. PART THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IS THE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE. FORD NEEDS TO EXTEND THIS RECALL TO ALL 2013 FORD ESCAPES SINCE THE ISSUE IS BIGGER THAN THEY FIRST EXPECTED.
THE CAR HESITATES SOMETIMES WHEN PRESSING THE GAS, MOSTLY FROM THE STOPPED POSITION. FOR INSTANCE I'VE BEEN DRIVING AND STOP AT A STOP SIGN, CHECK FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC ON THE CROSS STREET(WHICH DOES NOT HAVE A STOP SIGN/SIGNAL), WHEN IT IS SAFE TO PROCEED I PRESS THE GAS TO CROSS THE INTERSECTION AND THE CAR SLOWLY ROLLS OUT INTO THE INTERSECTION AND THEN FINALLY AFTER ROLLING FOR A FEW SECONDS WILL PICK UP AND GO. THIS HAPPENS WHILE I'M PRESSING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS WHILE TRYING TO CROSS A STREET WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I'VE TRIED LIFTING MY FOOT AND PRESSING BACK DOWN WHEN THE CAR DOESN'T MOVE LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO AND IT DOESN'T WORK. THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF RECALLS/WORK ALREADY ON THE COOLING SYSTEM IN IT. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THESE CARS. IT'S NOT SAFE. IT SENDS UP RED FLAGS SINCE THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER.

MY FORD ESCAPE WAS "FIXED" PER THIS RECALL 6/3/14 BY BOMRITTO FORD IN HAZLEWOOD MO. 3 1/2 YEARS LATER THE EXSACT PART USED TO FIXED THE ORIGINAL RECALL HAS NOW BECOME FAULTY AND CAUSED MY VEHCILE TO GO INTO LIMP MODE. FORD IS REFUSING TO REPLACE THIS PART AND SAYING IT IS THE CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY FOR US TO REPLACE A PART THAT WAS FAULTY ORIGINALLY AND 3 1/2 YEARS LATER FAULTY AGAIN. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED MY VEHICLES TRANSMISSION AND COMPUTER MODULE IN THE PAST YEAR AND SPENT OVER 3 GRAND IN REPLACEMENT AND LABOR AND THIS IS PUTTING ME OVER THE EDGE. THIS COMPANY DOES NOT REPLACE THEIR FAULTY PARTS EVEN THOUGH THEY STAND BEHIND THEM. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE THESE PARTS WERE VALIDLY REPLACED AND ARE NOT MADE TO LAST. THE ENGINE CODES THAT WE ARE GETTING ARE CAUSED FROM THE RECALL KIT THAT WAS USED TO REPLACE THE FAULTY PRODUCT ORIGINALLY. THIS KIT COSTS 759 TO THE CONSUMER AND THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE LABOR. FORD REFUSES TO SELL THE PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND MAKES THE CUSTOMER PURCHASE THE ENTIRE KIT. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE HANDLED PROPERLY BECAUSE INNOCENT CUSTOMERS ARE BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 100K MILES AND I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION WHICH WAS 2700! NOW THIS, WHICH WAS A RECALL 4 YEARS AGO. THE ISSUE BEGAN ON 1/16/2018 OUT OF NOWHERE. I THEN HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A TRUSTED MECHANIC THAT WAS ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE DIRECTLY TO THE RECALL FROM 2013 AS THE SAME EXACT ISSUE THESE FORD'S WERE HAVING IN 2013 WHICH IS A FIRE HAZARD. FORD DID NOT HANDLE THIS PROPERLY, I WAS HUNG UP ON MULTIPLE TIMES, I WAS IGNORED.

THE UPPER HEATER HOSE WAS REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 12/27/17 FOR THE SAME ISSUE. HOWEVER, TODAY WHEN I WAS GOING 40 MPH I HAD THE SAME ISSUE OCCUR ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS TIME SMOKE WAS POURING OUT OF THE ENGINE AND COOLANT WAS OBVIOUSLY LEAKING OUT OF THE CAR. I WAS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER FEARING THAT THE CAR WOULD CATCH ON FIRE. THIS CAR HAS HAD 14 RECALLS, 3 OF WHICH ARE RELATED TO ENGINE/COOLANT PROBLEMS BUT FORD HAS EXPLAINED THAT THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY MY CAR KEEPS DOING THIS.

I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A MOVIE THEATER. PARKED THE CAR AND WHEN I RETURNED TO THE CAR. A WARNING LIGHT STATED THAT THERE WAS A STEERING PROBLEM. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT IF MY WIFE OR I HAD BEEN TRAVELING THE ROADS AT A NORMAL SPEED, NEITHER OF US, WHO ARE IN OUR 80'S COULD HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO A SAFE STOP. I'M NOT SURE WHAT'S GOING ON BUT I WANT A GOOD LOOK AT EVERYTHING.
THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED SEPTEMBER 19, 2017. IT WAS A USED VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 65K MILES. ON JANUARY 5, 2018, I RECEIVED A LOW COOLANT WARNING. I CHECKED THE RESERVOIR AND NOTICED SUBSTANTIAL COOLANT DEPLETED. THE RESERVOIR WAS REPLENISHED WITH COOLANT. ON JANUARY 11, 2018, UPON PARKING THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED A STRONG COOLANT ODOR. UPON CHECKING THE RESERVOIR, THE LEVEL WAS OK! I BECAME AWARE ON JANUARY 6, 2018, THAT THERE IS AN UPCOMING FORD RECALL REGARDING COOLANT ISSUE.
WAS DRIVING DOWN ROAD AND LOW COOLENT LIGHT CAME ON.CAR WENT INTO SAFETY MODE IT WOULD NOT GO OVER 5 MILES PER HOUR.GOT IT TO AUTO STORE ADDED SMALL AMOUNT OF COOLENT AND IT STARTED BACK UP WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON TOOK IT TO DEALER.JANUARY 5 GOT THE CAR BACK AFTER NEED HOSES,VALVE,DROVE FOR ONE DAY AND LOW COOLENT LIGHT CAME BACK ON.HAVEN'T RECEIVED THE VEHICLE BACK YET,CALLED FORD CALLED DEALER BUT STILL WITH OUT VEHICLE MILLAGE IS 89000
