THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS NO COOLANT IN THE RESERVOIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEATING ELEMENT HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT VEHCILE STILL LEAKS COOLANT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO OTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO PROVIDED THE SAME DIAGNOSIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
THE ENGINE WILL RANDOMLY STALL AND TURN OFF DISPLAYING THE RED OIL LAMP AND RED BATTERY LIGHT. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS COLD AND HAS JUST TURNED ON, AND STARTED TO MOVE.
MY ANTIFREEZE HAS BEEN LEAKING AND IT'S WORSE WHEN IT'S COLD OUT. MY MECHANIC DIDNT SEE ANYTHING WRONG WHEN HE TOOK ALL QUICK LOOK.. AND THE PLAN IS TO HAVE A MUCH BETTER LOOK HERE IN 7 DAYS. I HAVE NOTICED THAT EVER SINCE THE WEATHER HAS GOTTEN COLDER... IT LEAKS FASTER... LIKE I HAVE TO REFILL IT EVERY 24 HOURS. WHEN I WAS GETTING MY OIL CHANGED ..THE SERVICE WORKER SAID HIS WIFE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2013 FOR ANTIFREEZE SENSOR MALFUNCTION... BUT WHEN I ENTER MY BIN NUMBER IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I NOTICED THIS AT THE END OF THE WINTER LAST WINTER... AND IT WASN'T TOO BAD UNTIL ABOUT 30 DAYS AGO THE TEMPERATURE GOT SIGNIFICANTLY COLDER AND IT REAL BAD NOW AND COSTS SLOT TO KEEP UP ON ANTIFREEZE. PLEASE GET IN TOUCH WITH ME IF YOU NEED MY VIN NUMBER. THANKS.
THIS CAR SHOWED A PROBLEM AROUND MARCH 2017 WHEN IT RANDOMLY STALLED AND DID WHILE IN PARK AT A PARKING LOT. AFTER THAT IT WOULD RUN FINE FOR MONTHS AT A TIME AND THEN I WOULD HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM OF IT STALLING OUT AND DYING WHILE PARKED OR WHEN THE CAR WAS IN PARK. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY 2 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS AND SOMETHING KEEPS FRYING MY BATTERY. THE PROBLEM HAS ESCALATED IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS TO THE POINT WHERE THE CAR NOW JUST DIES WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT ANY REAL WARNING AND IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I TRIED TAKING IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT AND HAD A HARD TIME RECREATING WHAT I HAD DESCRIBED WAS HAPPENING. THEY TOLD ME TO REPLACE THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR, BUT IT HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO IT GOING TO THAT DEALERSHIP. THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME TO THROW MONEY BLINDLY AT THE ENGINE TO THE TUNE OF 3K TO 4K OR TRADE IT IN ON SOMETHING ELSE. THOSE WERE THE OPTIONS GIVEN TO ME BY FORD. THE PROBLEMS DID NOT REALLY START UNTIL AFTER 80K MILES AND THE CAR IS WORSE ONCE IT HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR A LITTLE WHILE, GETS WORSE WHEN YOU RUN THE HEATER AND GAME OVER IF THE AC OR DEFROST ARE ON. MY MPG ARE HORRIBLE BUT I DONT EVEN KNOW FOR SURE BECAUSE I WILL LOOK AT THE GAS GAUGE TURN THE CAR OFF AND WHEN I COME BACK FROM LETTING IT SIT THE AMOUNT OF FUEL SHOWING HAS GONE BACK UP CONSIDERABLY. ALSO MY MILS TO EMPTY RANDOMLY WENT FROM THE GAS LIGHT TURNING ON AT 30 MILES TO EMPTY TO 50 MILES TO EMPTY. MY CAR ACTS LIKE IT HAS A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY AND ONE MOMENT IT SEEMS OK AND THE NEXT IS ALL OVER THE PLACE. WE CANT EVEN DRIVE IT ANYMORE BECAUSE IT IS TOO DANGEROUS AND UNPREDICTABLE.
RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR DEFECTIVE DOOR LATCH ON SEPTEMBER 2, 2016 (NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 16V643). IT IS NOW MARCH 6, 2017, OVER SIX MONTHS LATER, AND STILL NO REMEDY HAS BEEN OFFERED BY FORD. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER ONCE PER MONTH TRYING TO GET THE FAULTY PART REPLACED AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS NO ESTIMATE FOR WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE. FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR REMEDYING THIS RECALL IN A TIMELY MANNER AND SHOULD BE PENALIZED FOR FAILING TO DO SO.

I WAS DRIVING WITH A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT WHEN THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR OPENED AS I WAS DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 50MPH. I PULLED OVER TO TRY AND SHUT THE DOOR, BUT IT WOULD NOT LATCH. I HAD TO BUNGEE CORD THE DOOR TO THE SEAT IN ORDER TO GET TO THE DEALERSHIP.

THE CONTACT REFERENCED MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER: 12S34, WHICH ORIGINALLY REMEDIED VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN MARCH 8, 2012 AND JUNE 7, 2012; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
2013 FORD ESCAPE SEL STALLING WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WITH MY WIFE DRIVING THE CAR. WE'VE TAKEN IT INTO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP ONLY TO BE TOLD THEY CANT REPLICATE ISSUE. DRIVING THE CAR TO WORK TODAY (MY WIFE NOW DRIVES MY CAR FOR SAFETY CONCERNS), THE ESCAPE HESITATED WHEN PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND ONTO THE ROAD. HAVE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BUT WILL PROBABLY BE TOLD THAT IT CAN'T BE REPLICATED. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 60K MILES AND IS TOTALLY WORTHLESS, AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD OUT OF NO WHERE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. RIGHT AFTER THE LIGHT CAME ON THE LOW COOLANT INFORMATION LIGHT CAME ON AND FIVE SECONDS LATER THE CAR STARTED GETTING SLUGGISH AND THE INFORMATION LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN SAYING ENGINE TEMPERATURE TO HOT PULL OVER SAFETY.
DRIVING MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE SEL WITH ONLY 52000 MILES ON IT HOME FROM SHOPPING IN RENO, NEVADA. I WAS IN WASHOE VALLEY, NV WHEN I THOUGH THE HIGH WINDS WERE KEEPING MY CAR FROM SPEEDING UP, WHEN I COULD NOT ACCELERATE I PULLED TO THE SLOW LANE AND THEN ONTO THE SHOULDER. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND LOOK AT MY DASH TO SEE IF I WAS OVERHEATING OR ANY OTHER ISSUES WERE APPARENT. MY DASH SHOWED NOTHING WRONG AT ALL. NO LIGHTS OR WARNINGS OF ANY KIND. THE GAGES WERE ALL RUNNING NORMAL. I PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND WITHIN A SECOND OR TWO A LARGE VERY BLACK BILLOW OF SMOKE CAME UP BACK PART OF THE ENGINE NEAREST TO HE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW. THEN SECOND LATER LARGER FIRE FLAMES CAME RIGHT BEHIND IT THAT WENT OVER THE TOP OF MY CAR. MY CAR WENT UP IN FLAMES IN JUST MOMENTS. I HAD TO JUMP FROM THE BURNING CAR TO SAFELY.
I EXPERIENCED DOOR LATCH RECALL ISSUE AFTER HOURS ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17TH WHILE DRIVING! I CALLED THE COMPANY ON SATURDAY MORNING AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT OPEN. ON MONDAY I CONTACTED THEM AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES TO BE TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS DOWN. I EVEN WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND GOT NO HELP, BEING TOLD THAT THE REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE NOT EXPECTED UNTIL 2ND QUARTER OF THE YEAR. WHAT? MY DOOR IS BROKEN NOW!!! I EVEN ASKED IF THEY COULD REPLACE IT WITH A DEFECTIVE PART IF THEY HAD ANY ON-HAND SO THAT MY CAR COULD BE DRIVABLE. UP TO NOW I HAVE GOTTEN NO RESPONSE BECAUSE THEIR SYSTEM WAS DOWN. CALLED A PERSONAL CONTACT ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND WAS ASKED TO CALL BACK ON WEDNESDAY MORNING. I DID. I WAS ASKED IF I RECEIVED A LETTER, TO WHICH I REPLIED NO, BUT I DO HAVE THE PROBLEM AND DO I NEED TO HAVE A LETTER TO GET THE OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE PART REPLACED? I SHARED MY VIN NUMBER AS REQUESTED AND AM STILL AWAITING FEEDBACK ON THIS. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE BUSINESS PRACTICE. I STARTED LOOKING INTO PURCHASING THE PART, BUT THAT SHOULD NOT BE NECESSARY.
COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON AND AFTER COOLANT WAS ADDED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WHAT NOT GO OUT. ALSO EVERY TIME I ADDED FUEL MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. EACH TIME I WOULD ADD FUEL IT TOOK SEVERAL TRIES TO START THE ENGINE. EVERY OTHER DAY I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO START THE ENGINE FOR HOURS. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION I HAD SEVERAL CODES COME UP. A FAILED COOLANT BYPASS VALVE WAS REPLACED AS WELL AS A FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR. CODES (P 0087) (P 018 C) (P 26 B 7) (P 1450) THE RESTRAINTS MODULE CONTROL REPLACEMENT AND DID A COOLANT SYSTEM FLUSH. AFTER EXTENSIVE WORK AND OVER ALMOST $2,000 SPENT MY VEHICLE ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND I CONTINUE TO HAVE TROUBLE STARTING MY VEHICLE AFTER ADDING FUEL EVERY SINGLE TIME. THE FUEL ISSUE REALLY WORRIES ME BECAUSE WHENEVER I GET OUT OF MY VEHICLE I SMELL GAS AND DON'T THINK THAT IS NORMAL. I REALLY HOPE I CAN GET THIS RESOLVED SOON BECAUSE I CANNOT GO WITHOUT DRIVING BUT I AM LOOSING SLEEP AS WELL AS BEING VERY NERVOUS WHEN I HAVE TO REFUEL. PLEASE HELP ME RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE I AM STARTING TO REGRET CHOOSING A FORD!!!!!!
THE CARS ENGINE STALLS AND DIES AFTER PULLING OUT OF PARKING LOT OR DRIVEWAY WHILE TURNING ON INTERSECTION OR JUST TURNED FROM A CURB. IT STARTS TO SLOW DOWN AND DOESN'T RESPOND TO STEPPING ON GAS. THEN THE DASHBOARD LIGHT INDICATORS TURN ON- BATTERY, CHECK ENGINE, OIL, ETC. I HAD TO PUT THE CARK ON PARK, THEN TURN THE ENGINE OFF. RESTART IT, CRANKS A BIT BEFORE GOING TO FULL START. CHANGED TO DRIVE TRANSMISSION, THEN STEPPED ON THE GAS. IT STARTED GOING THEN ONLY A FEW FEET LATER, THE WHOLE CYCLE STARTS AGAIN. IN A COUPLE OF INSTANCES, ITHA--ENED 4 TYPES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. THESES HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES DRIVING OUT OF SHOPPING COMPLEX, ONCE JUST AFTER I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND 2 HOUSES DOWN. ANOTHER TIME WHEN I WAS PULLING OUT OF A HOSPITAL. IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES BEFORE I CAN EVEN REACH THE HIGHWAY, 3 CURB TURNS FROM MY PARKING SPOT. ANOTHER INSTANCE STALLED 4 TIMES WHEN IM LEAVING THE PARKING AREA OF OUR REC CENTER INTO THE STREET.

THE CONTACT HAD TO REMOVE THE COOLANT CAP IN ORDER FOR THE GAUGE TO RETURN TO NORMAL AND THE WARNING INDICATOR TO CLEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEAD GASKET WAS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND COULD NOT ASSIST. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 104,918.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN UNSPECIFIED WARNING INDICATOR THAT KEPT ILLUMINATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE, AND THE CODE WAS CLEARED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED MONTHS LATER ABOUT THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY CAR HAS AN OPEN RECALL FOR THE DOOR LATCH NOT LATCHING PROPERLY AND I WAS WONDERING SINCE THE RECALL WAS NEVER REMEDIED IF IT COULD PERTAIN TO THE BATTERY DRAINING WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS SIMPLY PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I HAD TO JUMP START MY VEHICLE AND I AM HOPING THAT THIS ISNT GOING TO BE A REOCCURING THING.
TAKATA RECALL MY VEHICLE HAD ENDLESS ISSUES AND PROBLEMS. I WOULD DRIVE A MILE OR SO TO GAS STATION, TURN OFF CAR, GET GAS AND THEN THE CAR WOULDN'T START OR DRIVE 15 MILES, DO A JOB, 30 MINUTES LATER GET IN AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START. IT TOOK SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE VEHICLE TO TURN OVER AND THEN STAY RUNNING. I WOULD THROW IT INTO GEAR TO GET THE ENGINE RUNNING AND SOMETIMES IT'D BE FINE, OTHER TIMES IT WOULD BOG DOWN AND STALL. I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT AND MY CAR WAS TOTALED. I HAD MECHANICS LOOK AT THE ISSUE AND THEY WOULD SAY THE O2 SENSOR, WASTEGATE SOLENOID OR EVAP LEAK. THEY WOULD NICKEL AND DIME ME WITH ALL THESE LITTLE THINGS. THE CODES WERE, P0234,P26B7 AND P0456. THEY SAID COOLANT WAS GETTING INTO THE FUEL SYSTEM AND THAT WAS CONTRIBUTING TO THE STALLING AND PROBLEMS. I HAD TO SEE A CHIROPRACTOR AFTER MY ACCIDENT DUE TO SPINAL PAIN AND DISCOMFORT. HOWEVER, IT WAS WORTH THIS GETTING RID OF THIS LEMON ONCE AND FOR ALL. IF ANYONE ELSE IS EXPERIENCING THESE PROBLEMS, POST THE FIX SO THAT IT CAN SAVE SOMEONE ELSE FROM FINANCIAL, EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL PAIN. I DIDN'T LET ANYONE DRIVE MY VEHICLE(WIFE/FAMILY) BECAUSE I NEVER KNEW WHEN IT WOULD STALL AND WHERE.
I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM SEATTLE TO OLYMPIA ON FEB 8, 2017. IT WAS AROUND 40 DEGREES AND RAINY ON AND OFF ALL DAY. AS I WAS MAKING IT INTO TACOMA, I SUDDENLY HEARD A HUGE BOOM, LIKE AN EXPLOSION OR SHOT GUN SOUND WHICH MADE ME PANIC. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I WAS COVERED IN GLASS. I LOOKED AROUND TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED WHILE STILL ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELLING 55 MPH. THERE WERE AND ON RAMP AND OFF RAMP NEAR BY SO CARS ARE PASSING ME; MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO EXIT. I WAS TERRIFIED OF GETTING HIT. I LOOKED UP AND SAW IT WAS THE SUNROOF MISSING A WHOLE BUNCH OF CLASS. SO MY FIRST INSTINCT WAS CLOSING THE COVER TO PROTECT MY DAUGHTER IN THE BACKSEAT. THE MOMENT I GOT IT CLOSED, MORE GLASS FLEW DOWN AND HIT THE COVER. I SIGHED IN RELIEF. EVENTUALLY I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND PARKED. I INSTANTLY RAN BACK TO MY DAUGHTER (8 MONTHS OLD) TO SEE IF SHE WAS OK AND SHE ONLY HAD A TINY SCRATCH. I HAD A BUNCH OF SCRATCHES ALL OVER MY HANDS. I THEN TOOK A PICTURE OF THE DAMAGE AND IN A PANIC CALLED MY HUSBAND WHO ADVISED ME TO GO TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN OLYMPIA. I WAITED FOR ABOUT 1/2 HOUR TO SETTLE DOWN BUT WAS STILL IN SHOCK THE WHOLE DRIVE. FORD WOULDN'T HELP ME SINCE I WAS OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD AND WAS SENT TO THEIR GLASS PEOPLE. I FILED A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE AND THE VEHICLE WAS EVENTUALLY FIXED.
CAR STALLED FOUR TIMES IN TWO DAYS. EACH TIME THE CAR WAS WARMED UP AND WAS RESTARTED THEN STALLED ON THE ROAD.FORD HAS A RECALL ON THE NON-TURBO CHARGED ESCAPE FOR THIS PROBLEM. MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED.MY VEHICLE IS THE 1.6 LITER TURBO.FORD DEALER SAYS COMPUTER DID NOT INDICATE A TROUBLE CODE. THEY ARE REPLACING THROTTLE BODY WORK NOT COMPLETE AT THIS TIME.
ON FOUR DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN BY ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. SECONDS AFTER BEGINNING TO ACCELERATE, THE ENGINE APPEARED TO STALL. ALL IP LIGHTS WENT OUT AND ENGINE LOST POWER. MOMENTS AFTER THIS POWER LOSS, ALL LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AND VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN NORMALLY. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD AN EXTENSIVE REPAIR/RECALL CAMPAIGN HISTORY. THIS WAS REPORTED DURING A SERVICE VISIT AND NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. THE PROBLEM OCCURED THREE MORE TIMES.

FORD CURRENTLY HAS A RECALL FOR A SIMILAR/IDENTICAL PROBLEM WITH OTHER BUILDS OF THIS VEHICLE. IT WOULD SEEM THAT THIS RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE A WIDER MANUFACTURING TIME FRAME. OWNERS WHO HAVE PAID FOR THIS REPAIR SHOULD BE REIMBURSED.

VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE AND SUDDENLY LOST POWER. THE ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE STOPPED DRIVING FORWARD EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. THE ENGINE DID NOT REV. THE DASH LIGHT INDICATING THE TRANSMISSION DISAPPEARED. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY JUMPED INTO GEAR SO HARD I SUFFERED WHIPLASH. IT DID THIS SEVERAL TIMES AS I ATTEMPTED TO GET CLEAR OF HEAVY TRAFFIC. I LITERALLY THOUGHT I HAD BEEN REAR ENDED AT ONE POINT AS THE CAR JOLTED SO HARD. AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE ROADWAY, THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE SERVICE NOW LIGHT CAME ON. THIS IS CONSISTANT WITH THE PCM WIRING HARNESS RECALL DONE ON OTHER 2013 ESCAPES BUT WAS NOT COVERED FOR MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE. THE JOLTS TO THE VEHICLE KICKING IN GEAR DESTROYED THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS IN MOTION AT THE TIME, IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC. I WAS LUCKY NOT TO STRIKE OR BE HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD BUT THEY STATE MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THAT RECALL AND THAT THEY WILL NOT HELP ME.

DEALER DIAGNOSED BAD OXYGEN SENSOR W/FIX COST OF $350 & ALTHOUGH WE HAD BOTH A PREMIUM PRE-PAID MAINTENANCE PLAN & EXTENDED WARRANTY IN EFFECT, BOTH DEALER & FORD INDICATED THIS EMISSIONS REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED (FORD EXTENDED WARR. TO 75K MI DUE TO # OF RECALLS). WE COULD NOT AFFORD DEALER COST SO FORCED TO SEEK ALTERNATIVE SHOP OR CAR WOULD FAIL EMISSIONS INSPECTION. REPAIR SHOP STATED ROOT CAUSE OF BAD SENSOR WAS FLUID DRIPPING FROM DIRECTLY ABOVE SENSOR WHICH DUE TO EXTENSIVE BUILDUP, APPEARED TO BE LONG TIME PROBLEM (WHICH FORD DEALER NEVER NOTICED IN 73K MILES OF REGULAR SERVICING??!!). THIS CAR IS A TOTAL PIECE OF CRAP. GIVEN 14 RECALLS, 89 TSBS & NEARLY 600 COMPLAINTS, FORD SHOULD BE FORCED TO BUY THESE CARS BACK!

I STILL AM PAYING FOR MY CAR LOAN WHICH IS ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT. I WENT TO 2 OTHER TRANSMISSION SHOPS AND BECAUSE THE CAR IS SO NEW THEY CAN'T REBUILD THE TRANS SINCE THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO GET PARTS. I CALLED FORD, GOT CASE NUMBER, AND THEIR DECISION WAS THAT THEY CANNOT ASSISTANT WITH LOWERING THE COST EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW ABOUT 2013 MODELS THAT HAVE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS. SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR USED, FORD CLAIMS THAT I DO NOT HAVE OWNERSHIP LOYALTY AND CANNOT ASSIST WITH COST OF NEW TRANSMISSION. UPON VEHICLE STARTUP DISCOVERED POWER STEERING ASSIST HAD FAILED- UNABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE SAFELY. MANAGED TO WRESTLE THE STEERING TO BACKUP CAR FROM STREET INTO DRIVEWAY. DEALER SAYS CONTROL MODULE AND STEERING GEAR IN A SEALED UNIT- MUST REPLACE ENTIRE UNIT AT COST OF ABOUT $1800.
Coolant bypass valve has failed for a third time now in my 2013 escape since I bought it in 2016. First time in 2017. Was told this was not covered under my warranty by ford and no recalls (for my specific vehicle). The bypass valve, from recall reviews i've read online, could stuck closed not allowing antifreeze to pass into the engine. This could cause engine to overheat and catch fire. Other recalls have noted possible engine fire from coolant leak. The check engine light has come on in all three instances. The diagnostic code is the same this time as the last two-P26b7. No recall for my specific vehicle because it wasn't built in the factory that the recall vehicles, with same problem, was built in. Although, it's the same problem, with the same cooling design.
WHILE COMMUTING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THIS MORNING, WITH TIMES OF HEAVY IDLING, AN EXHAUST TYPE SMELL STARTING COMING INTO THE CABIN CAUSING ME TO BECOME NAUSEOUS AND DIZZY UNTIL WINDOWS WERE OPENED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, PARTICULARLY WHEN THE WEATHER GOES FROM COLD TO MILD (NOT REQUIRING A/C), BUT SOME HEAT. THIS VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A FORD DEALERSHIP LAST MARCH FOR THE SAME ISSUE, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. I PURCHASED A BATTERY OPERATED CO2 DETECTOR TO TEST AND IT ALARMED WHILE DRIVING UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME FORD DEALER THIS MORNING AND LEFT RUNNING. TWO PROBLEMS. 1.) REMOTE START NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IT SHUTS ITSELF OFF WITHIN 30SECONDS DUE TO CORROSION ON NEGATIVE TERMINAL WIRING TO BATTERY. UNKNOWN CAUSE WHY THE CORROSION WOULD OCCUR ON MY BATTERY. I TAKE CARE OF MY CAR AND IT IS IN THE GARAGE WHEN NOT IN USE. 2.) ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED WHILE DRIVING. UNKNOWN REASON. TOLD THAT I NEED TO HAVE A SOFTWARE UPGRADE DONE TO THE COMPUTER SYSTEM ON MY CAR, BUT NOT TOLD IF THIS WOULD FIX THE STALLING 100%. UNCLEAR WHY I WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR AN UPGRADE SO MY ENGINE DOES NOT STALL WHEN DRIVING. THE CAR SHOULD WORK AND DRIVE WITHOUT STALLING. IF I NEED A UPGRADE TO THE COMPUTER ENGINE SOFTWARE SO THE CAR WILL NOT STALL THEN I WOULD EXPECT THIS TO BE COVERED BY FORD ON A RECALL. FELT ENGINE - COLD TO THE TOUCH. PLENTY OF COOLANT IN ENGINE AND RESERVOIR. CAR SAT FOR FIVE MINUTES. STARTED CAR AGAIN. COOLANT ARROW AGAIN WENT FROM C TO H IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES. CAR IN SAFETY MODE AGAIN. TOWED CAR TO DEALER. THEY COULD SEE THE CODE NUMBER AND "SOMETHING" HAPPENED TO THE ENGINE. THEY RESET THE CODE AND CAR WENT OUT OF SAFETY MODE. DEALERSHIP CANNOT PROVIDE AN ANSWER, ONLY IT "MUST BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM". SEARCHING THE WEB, IT APPEARS THIS MODEL AND YEAR FORD HAS BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM (AS DESCRIBED) FOR SEVERAL YEARS. AS MANY OTHER FORD ESCAPE 2013 OWNERS, MY CAR STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY PUTTING MY LIFE AND THOSE OF MY WIFE AND KIDS AT RISK. IT STARTED WHEN THE ENGIN BEGAN TO CUT OFF WHEN IDLE. AT THE BEGINING, THERE WERE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. CAR WILL RESTART BUT A 150 M LATER THE ENGINE WILL START FIGHTING TO STAY ON AND MOST OF THE TIME THE ENGINE LOSE THE BATTLE. SO I RESTART AGAIN UNTIL ( AFTER 2, OR 3 TIMES) THE ENGINE STAYS CONSTANTLY ON. MY BIG CONCERN WAS WITH THE HAZARDOUS AND RISKY SITUATIONS I FOUND MYSELF IN, SPECIALLY WHILE GETTING INRO A BUSY ROAD OR A HIGH WAY AND HAVING THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN ANDLET I DIDN'T HAVE TIME WHEN THE ENGINE LET ME OUT OF POWER. SOME DRIVERS ARE IN HURRY AND MIGHT NOT HAVE THE TIME TO STOP THEIR VEHICLE BEFORE HITTING ME. THAT'S WHY I ALWAYS PARKED MY CAR ON THE SIDEWALKS WHILE IN DISTRESS. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO ONE OF FORD DEALERS, THEY COULDN'T FIND THE ISSUE. I TOOK IT TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC AND HE MADE ME CHANGE A LOT OF PIECES BUT STILL NOT FIXED YET.
