ON 8/16/2016, IN A DRIVEWAY ON A BUSY STREET, I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND SAW "STEERING ASSIST FAULT - SERVICE REQUIRED" ON DISPLAY. THE CAR HAD LOST POWER STEERING. TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING CAR DID NOT HELP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW COOLANT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED A PUDDLE OF COOLANT ON THE GROUND AND THE COOLANT WAS BELOW THE MINIMUM LINE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FIVE OTHER TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ONLY EXPERIENCED THIS FAILURE WHEN THERE WAS EXTENDED DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A HOSE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE SPECIFIC HOSE WAS NOT DISCLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V431000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 86,000.
POWER STEERING FAILS WITHOUT WARNING AND DISPLAYS THE FAULT MESSAGE "STEERING ASSIST FAULT: SERVICE REQUIRED". FAILURE MAKES STEERING VERY DIFFICULT AND CAN RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL. DEALERSHIP IDENTIFIED THE CAUSE AS A INTERNAL FAILURE OF THE PSCM (POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE) AND REPLACED THE PSCM AND RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY TO REPAIR. PLEASE NOTE THAT EARLIER MODEL YEAR FORD ESCAPES HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND HAVE BEEN RECALLED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 AND FORD RECALL NUMBER 14S05. AS THIS ISSUE IS IDENTICAL TO THE PRIOR RECALL, I STRONGLY SUGGEST ADDING THE 2013 MODEL YEAR FORD ESCAPE VEHICLES TO THE RECALL. THE MOST COMMON TIME FOR THE POWER STEERING TO FAIL WAS RIGHT AFTER STARTUP AND MANEUVERING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT ON A CITY STREET OR GARAGE. AT THIS LOW SPEED MANUAL STEERING IS DIFFICULT AND AGGRESSIVE BRAKING IS REQUIRED TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT ONCE THE INABILITY TO SETTER IS APPARENT TO THE DRIVER. ONCE THE STEERING FAILS AND THE FAULT MESSAGE APPEARS, IT COULD BE OCCASIONALLY RESET BY SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING THE CAR. TURNING OFF A CAR ON A PUBLIC ROAD TO REGAIN STEERING CONTROL IS UNDESIRABLE AND UNSAFE. I SPOKE WITH BOTH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND BOTH CLAIMED THAT THERE ARE NO TSBS OR RECALLS DESCRIBING THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING FOR THE 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE REPAIR INVOICE (ATTACHED) SHOWS THAT THE DEALERSHIP VERIFIED THE FAILURE OF THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE (AS IN PRIOR RECALLS OF EARLIER MODEL YEARS) AND THE NEED TO REPLACE THE PSCM AND ENTIRE PSCM/RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY. THE MILEAGE AT THE TIME OF REPAIR WAS 45281. THE FAULT OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AT EARLIER MILEAGES AND BECAME MORE FREQUENT WITH INCREASING MILEAGE UP UNTIL THE TIME OF REPAIR TO TO SAFETY CONCERNS.
THE REAR DOOR WILL NOT LATCH SHUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR FAILED TO REMAIN CLOSED AND OPENED INDEPENDENTLY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LOCK FAILED. THE LOCK WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V239000 (STRUCTURE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,450.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FAILED TO REMAIN LOCKED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V237000 (AIR BAGS), 14V239000 (STRUCTURE), 14V597000 (AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS), AND 16V643000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIRS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT AND VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
ON 8/09/16 MY ESCAPE STALLED REPEATEDLY WHILE DRIVING ON A RURAL HIGHWAY AT 50 MPH. LIMPED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 8/10/16. DROPPED MY VEHICLE OFF ABOUT 10 A.M. MECHANIC SEARCHED MOST OF THAT DAY BUT DID NOT FIND PROBLEM, EARLY THE NEXT MORNING FOUND PROBLEM, IT WAS THE SPLICE IN THE ELECTRICAL WIRING HARNESS COULD NOT SEND PROPER SIGNAL TO THE ENGINE. MY CAR WAS PREVIOUSLY RECALLED TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. RECALL 14S17-S1. CURRENTLY FORD ISSUED A RECALL AGAIN TO START ON JANUARY 4 2016. I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE THE SPLICE PROBLEM FIXED, ASKED,DEALER WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR A FORD MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. THEY SAID MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT ON THE FORD RECALL LIST. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE 2013, VIN NUMBER SHOULD NOT GIVE FORD A EXCUSE TO SELECT A CONTROLLED LIST OF ESCAPES SO THEY DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR FIXING THIS PROBLEM, NO MATTER WHEN IT OCCURS JUST AN EXCUSE SO THEY SAVE MONEY BY STICKING IT TO THE DEALER OR CUSTOMER. FORD SHOULD HONOR THE ABOVE RECALL NO MATTER HOW OLD THE CAR IS.
APRIL 2015 FORD BAGAN RECALLING VEHICLES FOR DOOR LATCH PROBLEMS. IN THE INTERVENING 2+ YEARS, FORD HAS, MULTIPLE TIMES, EXPANDED THE NUMBER AND MODELS OF VEHICLES INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. AUGUST 2016, IS WAS PUBLICLY ANNOUNCED (HTTP://AUTOWEEK.COM/ARTICLE/RECALLS/FORD-RECALLS-830000-CARS-DOOR-LATCH-ISSUE) MY 2013 ESCAPE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. MID-AUGUST 2016, MY LEFT PASSENGER DOOR LATCH BROKE. HAD TO TIE BOTH BACK DOORS CLOSED WITH ROPE. SEPTEMBER 2, 2016 THAT FORD ACKNOWLEDGED MY VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND AN OFFICIAL RECALL NOTICE (SEE ATTACHED). TO DATE, FORD IS NOT ABLE TO SATISFY THE RECALL ACTION DUE TO LACK OF PARTS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND IS ALLOWING UNSAFE VEHICLES TO BE OPERATED ON AMERICAN ROADWAYS WITHOUT REMEDY.
RECALL NOTICE 16S30 I CONTACTED MIRACLE FORD IN GALLATIN, TN PHONE: (615) 452-5267. THE DEALER SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART FOR THE RECALL UNTIL THE 2ND QUARTER OF 2017. I AM NOT SURE WHAT THE 2ND QUARTER OF 2017 IS BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW THEIR BUSINESS CALENDAR. I CALLED FORD DIRECTLY 1 (800) 392-3673 AND I TALKED WITH A PERSON. AT THE END OF THE CALL ON OCT 21ST AROUND 5:15PM CST, FORD SENT ME BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER VOICE MESSAGE WAS FULL. I AM NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT SINCE NEITHER PARTIES HAVE THE TOOLS AND RESOURCES IN PLACE TO FIX MY RECALL. THE DOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AS OPENED 4-5 TIMES AS I TAKE A TURN FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE WINDSHIELD SENSOR FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH AND CHANGING GEARS, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE ELECTRONIC SENSOR AND TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
MY CAR STARTED LEAKING COOLANT, WAS USING ABOUT 1 GALLON A MONTH, TOOK TO DEALER 3 TIMES BEFORE THEY DETERMINED IT WAS LEAKING COOLANT AROUND THE 3RD CYLINDER HEAD. MOTOR DETERMINED TO BE BAD. LIKELY CRACKED HEAD OR BAD HEAD GASKET. OPTIONS WERE TO TEAR DOWN THE MOTOR, FIND AND FIX ISSUE AT $7500, OR JUST REPLACE MOTOR FOR $5500. OPTING TO GET NEW MOTOR DESPITE CAR ONLY BEING 4 YEARS OLD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE MESSAGE "VEHICLE OVER HEATING" WAS DISPLAYED BEFORE THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT SMOKE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD DUE TO OIL LEAKING UNTO THE ENGINE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
THE REAR SEATBELT BUCKLES APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN INSTALLED IMPROPERLY AT THE FACTORY. ONE OF THE BUCKLES IS FORCED UP BY THE BOLT SPRING WHILE THE OTHER TWO ARE FORCED DOWN. THE TWO THAT ARE FORCED DOWN MAKE IT DIFFICULT FOR REAR SEAT PASSENGERS TO BUCKLE IN. FURTHERMORE, WHEN THE SEAT BACK IS FOLDED DOWN, THE TWO SEATBELT BUCKLES TEND TO BE FORCED UNDER THE SEAT. THIS CAN LEAD TO THE BUCKLE(S) GETTING DAMAGED WHEN TRYING TO RAISE THE SEAT BACK TO ITS UPRIGHT POSITION. IN SOME CASES, THE BUCKLE CAN BE CRUSHED AND MADE UNUSABLE.

THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN OFF THE AIR CONDITIONING IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO MAKE LOUD NOISES WITHIN THE STEERING COLUMN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, SMOKE APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND PLACED OIL INTO THE ENGINE, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE TO SUBSIDE. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT OIL LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED, BUT THE ISSUE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,599.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD, THE "DOOR AJAR" ALERT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY SCREEN. AFTER PULLING OVER TO CLOSE THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR I NOTICED IT WOULD NOT CLOSE. AFTER EACH ATTEMPT TO CLOSE THE DOOR IT WOULD NOT LATCH. IT WOULD JUST BOUNCE BACK OPEN. THE LATCHING MECHANISM WOULD NOT FUNCTION, SO I HAD TO TIE THE DOOR SHUT WITH A ROPE IN ORDER FOR IT TO NOT SWING OPEN WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE BACK HOME. FAULTY DOOR LATCH SEEMS TO BE THE ISSUE HERE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FLEW OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LATCH FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
GOT THE SAME WIRING HARNESS PROBLEMS AS RECALL #15V81300 BUT IT SEEMS MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED. ARE THE DATES OF MANUFACTURE TOO RESTRICTED? DO I HAVE ONE OF THOSE IMPROPERLY MADE HARNESSES?
WHILE IN MOTION THE PASSENGER DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE TURNING. THE LATCH INSIDE THE DOOR BROKE FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY RECALLS OF OTHER FORD VEHICLES THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. BUT ESCAPES HAVE NOT BEEN INCLUDED. WE ARE FORTUNATE THAT NO ONE FELL OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE TURNING THE CORNER. THE CAR WAS ON A CITY HIGHWAY TURNING ONTO ANOTHER CITY HIGHWAY.
THIS ENGINE HAS BEEN STALLING. IT SEEMS TO STALL WHEN SLOWING FOR A TURN OR AN INTERSECTION. I SEEN THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED FOR SOME ESCAPES WITH THE SAME YEAR AS MINE. WHY WERE NOT ALL ESCAPES RECALLED FOR THIS CONDITION?

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HENNESSY FORD ATLANTA (5675 PEACHTREE INDUSTRIAL BLVD, ATLANTA, GA 30341, (470) 602-2073) HOWEVER, WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
PURCHASED USED 2013 FORD ESCAPE VEHICLE WITH APPROXIMATELY 33K MILES IN OCTOBER OF 2014. PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY AS WARRANTY WAS DUE TO EXPIRE AT 36K MILES. A WEEK OR TWO AFTER PURCHASE, CAR STALLED. IN THE SHOP IT WENT. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IN THE SHOP IT WENT AGAIN. MULTIPLE TIMES LATER CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP AGAIN FOR SAME "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" FOR 2-3 WEEKS AT A TIME; TRANSMISSION REPLACED TWICE. THE CAR WAS BACK IN SHOP AGAIN LAST WEEK FOR SAME ISSUE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THIS TIME DEALER CLAIMS PURGE VALVE ISSUE.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED IT, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V597000 (AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS). THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE CAR WOULD OCCASIONALLY LOOSE POWER. IT WOULD STALL OUT SOON AFTER STARTING THE CAR AND PUTTING THE CAR IN DRIVE. I THOUGHT PERHAPS I WAS ACCELERATING TOO SOON AFTER STARTING THE CAR. I WOULD START THE CAR THEN WAIT A FEW SECONDS. THE CAR STILL STALLED WHILE IN MOTION. SEVERAL TIMES I HAD TO STEER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO RESTART THE CAR. I'M LUCKY NO ONE WAS CLOSE BEHIND ME. THE LAST TIME IT STALLED, I WAS ON A BUSY CITY STREET. I HAD JUST PICKED MY SON UP FROM SUMMER CAMP. THE CAR STALLED AS I MERGED INTO TRAFFIC AFTER LEAVING THE PARKING LOT. THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING WITH NO WARNING. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS ITS THE SCENSOR THAT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 8 DAYS NOW AND I STILL DON'T HAVE IT BACK. IT SEEMS LIKE MORE THAN JUST A SCENSOR ISSUE TO HAVE IT THAT LONG. I AM IN A RENTAL VEHICLE UNTIL REPAIRS ARE COMPLETE. THIS HAS BEEN COSTLY EVEN THOUGH I WAS GIVEN A DISCOUNT BY THE DEALERSHIP ON CAR RENTAL. I HAD NO CHOICE TO RENT A CAR. I WAS ATTENDING A FAMILY REUNION OUT OF TOWN JUNE 23RD THRU JUNE 26TH. I COULDN'T RISK DRIVING MY CAR PUTTING MY FAMILY AND MYSELF IN DANGER ON THE HIGHWAY..
CAR CONTINUALLY STALLS. ERROR MESSAGE SAYS ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW. IT CAN HAPPEN COMING OUT OF THE DRIVE WAY OR DRIVING AT 50 MILES AN HOUR. DEALER SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG! THIS IS DANGEROUS! IT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR NOW
AFTER STARTING MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INFORMATION DISPLAY WITH SYSTEM WARNINGS AND ONLY ODOMETER DISPLAY WENT BLANK. TECHNICIANS CHECKED FOR A BAD FUSE, BUT NONE FOUND. ALSO, FOUND THAT THERE IS A RECALL (15C03 - REPROGRAM INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) ISSUED AGAINST 2014 FORD ESCAPE FOR THE SAME ISSUE.

I ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE TO FORD AND THE FORD DEALER, BUT THEY DON'T CARE TO HELP ME AND ASKING ME TO PAY TOO MUCH AMOUNT TO REPLACE IT. HOW CAN I PAY TOO MUCH AMOUNT FOR REPLACING THIS IF ITS THERE MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I KNOW AS PER FEDERAL LAW THIS IS MUST AND THE SCREEN CANNOT HAPPEN ON THIS CASE TO ANY VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND DOWNSHIFTING BY MANUALLY SHIFTING GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CORE COUPLER IN THE CAMSHAFT, WHICH OPERATED THE BRAKE BOOSTER, FRACTURED INSIDE THE CAMSHAFT. AS A RESULT, THE POWER ASSIST FEATURE IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM DISENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,789.
WE CAME TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN ON A CITY SIDE STREET. THE ENGINE DIED AND WOULD CRANK OVER BUT NOT RESTART. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. ABLOWN FUSE WAS FOUND LABELED VEHICLE POWER. NO CODES WERE FOUND. NO OTHER PROBLEMS HAVE OCCURRED. THE SECOND TIME WAS ON A HIGHWAY WHEN WE HAD TO MAKE A SUDDEN STOP.

I WAS DRIVING OUT OF A MOUNTAINOUS ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS, NOTHING, THE POWER BRAKES WENT. I WAS ABLE TO STOP BY USING THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM WITH BOTH FEET TROMPING DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE VACUUM POWER ASSIST CONTRAPTION THAT WAS DEFECTIVE. I HAVEN'T GOTTEN MY CAR BACK (9 DAYS NOW) BECAUSE THEY ARE SAYING THAT THE ENGINE DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY NOW AND THAT IS ISN'T THE 'FAULT' OF THE VACUUM POWER ASSIST DEVICE MALFUNCTIONING.
DRIVER REAR DOOR LATCH BROKE, DOOR WILL NOT SHUT. FLEW OPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. DESPITE THIS SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER FORD MODELS, DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO GET FORD TO WARRANTY THIS. COST ME $340.
THE LATCH SYSTEMS ON BOTH REAR DOORS HAVE BROKEN CAUSING THEM TO FLY OPEN. THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR BROKE IN JANUARY OF 2016 UPON OPENING IN THE GARAGE, THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. THE SECOND REAR DOOR BROKE 6 MONTHS LATER, IN JUNE OF 2016, ALSO WHEN THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. IN BOTH CASES A PASSENGER HAD TO HOLD THE DOORS CLOSED ON THE INSIDE TO BE ABLE TO GET THEM TO THE DEALERSHIP WITHOUT THEM FLYING OPEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET. EACH DOOR COST OVER $300 TO REPAIR.

A WARNING INDICATOR WILL APPEAR ON THE DASH STATING "ENGINE MALFUNCTION SERVICE NOW". THE CAR SHUDDERS, JERKS, HESITATES AND CAN STALL WHEN THE THROTTLE IS PUSHED. PULLING OVER, POWERING THE CAR DOWN, AND TURNING IT BACK ON SEEMS TO TEMPORARILY RESOLVE IT. ISSUE MAY BE ASSOCIATED WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES SINCE THIS WAS SERVICED IN AUGUST OF 2016. AFTER 5 TRIPS TO THE DEALER WITH REPAIRS RELATED TO THE WIRING HARNESS, I WAS TOLD IT WAS RESOLVED. THE PROBLEM HAS RECURRED STARTING IN JUNE OF THIS YEAR. WENT TO THE FORD DEALER AGAIN AND THEY FAILED TO DIAGNOSE. DROVE IT TO THE DEALER IN FAILURE MODE WITH WARNING DISPLAYED TO PROVE THERE IS AN ISSUE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN IN MOTION. GARAGE SAYS I HAVE TO DRIVE IT THERE WHEN MESSAGE COMES ON WITHOUT SHUTTING IT OFF AS THE CODE CLEARS UPON SHUT DOWN. IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE A STALLING CAR ON THE FREEWAY TO THE GARAGE. NOW THE COMPUTER SCREEN ABOVE THE STEEING WHEEL WENT OUT. LESS THAN 40,000 MILES ON THE CAR. FAULT MESSAGE OCCURS WHEN STARTING THE CAR. CONTINUES TO HAPPEN.
ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW ERRORS AGAIN. OCCURRED WITHIN 1/2 BLOCK OF LEAVING THE DRIVEWAY, CAR STUMBLES AND BECOMES DIFFICULT/DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. WAS ABLE TO RETURN TO THE DRIVEWAY AND TRIED IT AGAIN SEVERAL HOURS LATER WITH NO ERROR. THIS SAME ISSUE OCCURRED IN 2013 WHEN WE BOUGHT THE CAR NEW, IT TOOK SEVERAL MONTHS TO IDENTIFY THAT SOME WIRING SPLICE/HEAT SHIELD WAS FAILING AS NO ERROR CODE WAS CAPTURED. FORD EVENTUALLY ISSUED A RECALL FOR THAT AND IT HAS BEHAVED UNTIL NOW. THE DEALER HAS ADVISED NO ERROR CODE WAS CAPTURED AGAIN THIS TIME. THEY ADVISE ALL THEY CAN DO IS KEEP THE CAR AND START IT SEVERAL TIMES A DAY TRYING TO CATCH IT FAILING IN ORDER TO CAPTURE THE CODE. I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY'VE DESIGNED A SYSTEM THAT CANNOT CAPTURE ITS OWN ERROR CODES BUT OBVIOUSLY HAVE HERE. WE LEARNED TO TAKE PICTURES OF THE SCREEN WHEN IT FAILED AND DID THAT AGAIN HERE. THERE ARE TWO FORD RECALLS FOR WHAT WOULD APPEAR TO BE THE SAME ISSUE 14S17 AND 14S17-S1 WHERE THEY EXPANDED THE RECALL. IT SEEMS CLEAR THEY NEED TO EXPAND THE RECALL FURTHER.
I HAVE HAD THREE ISSUES WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COMING ON FROM NOVEMBER THROUGH MAY. I'VE HAD TWO COOLANT SENSOR VALVES REPLACED AND NOW HAVE ANOTHER CODE FOR CYLINDER HEAD TEMPERATURE SENSOR. THIS IS THREE TIMES IN SIX MONTHS AND I'VE SPENT CLOSE TO $1,000 IN REPAIRS AND THE CODES KEEP COMING UP. I EVEN HAD THE CAR TEMPERATURE SPIKE AND THE VEHICLE IDLE FUNNY AS SENSORS INDICATED MY CAR WAS OVERHEATING. I BELIEVE FORD SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL.
