THE CAR WAS PARKED, I TURN ON THE ENGINE MY SON WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WITH HIS RIGHT LEG OUT THE CAR AND DOOR OPEN. I WAS PACKING SOME STUFF TO THE BACK SIT. WHEN THE SUV WENT ON REVERSE WHILE THE GEAR WAS ON PARK. THERE IS NO EXPLANATION OF HOW THE CAR WENT ON REVERSE. THE RIGHT DOOR WAS OPENED AND HIT A BRICK FENCE THAT WAS ON THE SIDEWALK THE INSIDE PANEL OF THE BROKE WITH THE IMPACT AND CUT MY SON'S LEG. AMBULANCE TOOK HIM TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND 10 STITCHES INSIDE AND OUTSIDE WERE DONE TO HIS LEG. I COMPLAINT TO FORD AND THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR 4 DAYS BEFORE THE ACCIDENT FOR PROPER INSPECTION. THE PROCESS MAY TAKE 1 TO 2 MONTHS. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM SERVICE DEPT SAYING THE THERE WHERE NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS FOUND AND TO PICK UP THE CAR.POLICE REPORT WAS SUBMITTED AND NO LEGAL PAPERWORK WAS RECEIVED YET FROM FORD. THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT SOMETHING SIMILAR HAPPENED BUT FORD IS NOT RECOGNIZING THE PROBLEM. HOW I KNOW THAT A PROPER INSPECTION WAS MADE AND THAT THIS CAR IS SAFE? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER THREE TIMES WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. WHILE STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT, WITH THE CAR IN DRIVE AND MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE ENGINE REVS UP AND THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD AND CRASHES INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THIS HAPPENED LAST WEEK AT A DRIVE THRU AND I WAS FORTUNATE THAT NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2013 FORD ESCAPE NEW IN NOV OF 2012. THIS IS AN UNSAFE CAR. EVERY SUMMER IN LAS VEGAS WHERE I LIVE THE CAR OVERHEATS AND I LOOSE ENGINE POWER. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION ESPECIALLY FOR ME AS I AM 71 YEARS OLD. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER MANY TIMES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO FIX IT
I JUST LEASED A NEW CAR, A 2013 FORD ESCAPE WITH A 2.0 L ECOBOOST ENGINE. I HAD ONLY FILLED THE TANK ONCE BEFORE I NOTICED SERIOUS PROBLEMS; WHENEVER I CAME TO A STOP, THE ESCAPE WOULD SHUDDER AND STALL OR SIMPLY TURN OFF. IT HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS DAILY FOR ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE I COULD TAKE IT TO THE SHOP. AS A SURGEON, I TYPICALLY GET OFF MUCH LATER THAN THE FORD DEALERSHIP WAS OPEN. THEY HAVE TAKEN IT FOR REPAIR, BUT IT WAS PRETTY SCARY BECAUSE IT WOULD SHAKE AND RATTLE WHEN ACCELERATING SOMETIMES AND I WAS CONCERNED IT MIGHT STALL MID INTERSECTION. LUCKILY IT ONLY STALLED WHEN I HAD COME TO A STOP. *TR
MY FORD ESCAPE 1.6L ENGINE WILL OVERHEAT IF I PARK IT BY THE BEACH ALL DAY & THEN TRY TO DRIVE OVER THE FOOTHILLS TO THE VALLEY. THIS IS A CONSISTENT AND REPEATABLE PROBLEM. I HAVE TWO VIDEOS THAT I SHOWED FORD BUT APPARENTLY THEY CAN'T FIX IT. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE SINCE MY CAR CAN OVERHEAT WHEN I'M ON A ROAD LIKE HIGHWAY 17, WHICH DOESN'T HAVE A SHOULDER. *TR
LOSING COOLANT BUT NO VISIBLE SIGNS WHERE IT'S GOING. THE WATER PUMP WAS CHANGED BUT DID NOT RESOLVE PROBLEM. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN 2013 AND WHEN THE WEATHER BEGAN TO GET COLD THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I ADDED A SMALL AMOUNT OF COOLANT THEN. IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER THE YEARS BUT NO ONE KNOWS WHERE I'M LOSING IT FROM. I SAW WHERE OTHER FORD ESCAPES ARE BEING RECALLED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM BUT MINE WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. A WEEK AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER RECALL, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLING BYPASS VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SIX MONTHS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AGAIN, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
STARTING AROUND 6,500MI, ESCAPE WOULD NOT START WITHOUT A JUMP START. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS OF CALLING TOW TRUCKS FOR THESE JUMPS, TOOK IT INTO FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY SWAPPED BATTERY AND SAID THAT'S ALL IT NEEDED. AFTER A WEEK, ESCAPE ENGINE CUT OUT AT WHILE STOPPED AT RED SIGNAL LIGHT. ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS FOR OIL AND BATTERY CAME ON, AND NOTHING ELSE. PUSHED CAR TO SIDE OF ROAD AND AFTER WAITING FOR TOW FOR 20 MINUTES, I TRIED TO START ENGINE AGAIN AND EVERYTHING CAME BACK ON AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. AFTER TWO DAYS OF "ALL SYSTEMS NORMAL," I WENT TO START THE ENGINE AND IT BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND A "ENGINE MALFUNCTION-SERVICE IMMEDIATELY" WARNING CAME UP ON THE DASH. I TRIED TO PULL CAR OUT OF PARKING SPOT AND IT HAD ALMOST NO POWER. BARELY PUTTED ALONG DESPITE MY REALLY GIVING IT THE GAS. PARKED AND HAD IT BROUGHT TO FORD DEALERSHIP AGAIN. ON ARRIVAL THEY PULLED A CODE P0106 OFF READER. IT'S BEEN THERE FOR 10 DAYS AND THEY SAY THEY CAN NOT REPRODUCE ISSUE, AND HAVE MADE NO REPAIRS. STILL WAITING FOR NEWS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR REPAIR BUT WAS NOT YET DIAGNOSED.THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,800. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
HAD REGULAR OIL CHANGE ON 4/15/13 AND ABOUT A WEEK AFTER. WHILE COMING TO A STOPPED THE VEHICLE JUST STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. HAD TO COME TO COME TO COMPLETE STOP TO PUT CAR IN PARK AND RESTART. RAN VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT--NL. WENT TO DEALER WHO DID OIL CHANGE AND SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS CAR DOING IT . IF HAPPENED AGAIN CALL ROADSIDE. 05/29/13 AT 545PM CAR STALLED AGAIN NO WARNING. CALLED CROWN FORD SET UP APPT FOR MON. 06/10. 6/7/13 558AM CAR AGAIN STALLED AT ABOUT 35 MPH NO WARNING HAD TO PUT IN NEUTRAL APPLY BRAKE TO RESTART SINCE I WAS ON ROAD WITH NO SHOULDER AND MID CURVE. KEEP APPT FOR MON. AT ABOUT 423PM THAT DAY STARTED CAR AND ENGINE FAULT NOTED ON START TRIED TO DRIVE OUT OF PARKING GARAGE. CAR WAS MISSING AND BARELY MOVING. TRANSMISSION MADE LOUD CLUNK NOISE. COASTED CAR DOWN PARKING GARAGE SO TOW TRUCK WOULD BE ABLE TO ACCESS IT. TOWED TO CROWN FORD. OFFERED VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT I RAN STATING IT WAS POWERTRAIN ISSUE. THEY DECLINED NEEDED IT. CHECKED AND REPLACE MAP SENSOR. PICKED UP ON 6/11/13 AND 06/12/13 STALLED AGAIN EARLY IN THE MORNING ABOUT 600AM AND THEN I WAS ADVISED TO BRING BACK TO DEALER. STALLED AGAIN ON WAY TO DEALER APPROXIMATELY 1130 AM. ADVISED SERVICE DEALER THEY RAN DIAGNOSTIC FOR THE NEXT WEEK WHICH ALL CAME BACK NORMAL. SERVICE MANAGER DROVE ON 06/17 AND STATED PROBLEM REPRODUCED AND WOULD REPLACE THROTTLE BODY.THIS WAS DONE AND I PICKED UP ON 06/21. 06/23 AT APPROXIMATELY 204 PM CAR STALLED AGAIN...RESTARTED AFTER PUTTING IN NEUTRAL UNABLE TO COME TO A STOP VEHICLES BEHIND US...RESTARTED WHEN RESTARTED ENGINE MISSING AGAIN WHEN PUSHED GAS THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO MAKE A CLUNK NOISE AND STALLED AGAIN.THE VEHICLE WITHOUT NOTICE STALLS AND IS A GREAT SAFETY ISSUE AND AFTER LAST STALL THE RPM SEEMS TO REV UP SOME.THIS IS A MAJOR DEFECT AND LIFE THREATENING DEFECT. SATURDAY MORNING , 4-20-2013, AFTER I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK AT THE STATION, WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE INSYNC SYSTEM DID NOT TURN ON. THE SCREEN REMAINED BLANK FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES, WHEN I REACHED MY DESTINATION AND STOPPED THE CAR THE SCREEN TURNED ON AND IT WAS DOWNLOADING TO TURN ON AGAIN. SYSTEM WORKS FINE NOW. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONCERNED WHEN I CALLED. THEY SAID AS LONG AS IT IS WORKING NOW IT IS A NON-ISSUE, I SPOKE WITH [XXX] AT NORTH BROTHERS, THE SERVICE REP. THE SIDE VIEW MIRROR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS A WAVE IN THE GLASS THAT MAKES VIEWING VERY DIFFICULT. I'VE HAD IT REPLACED TWICE, SO IT MUST BE AN INTENTIONAL PART OF THE MIRROR, BUT IS NAUSEATING DURING DRIVING... *TR
IN APRIL, WHILE PROCEEDING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY RESTART THE VEHICLE. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND ENGAGED INTO DRIVE, IT SEEMED TO GET A SURGE OF POWER, ACCELERATING AT A FASTER SPEED THAN NORMAL. ON 6/16/2013, I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE TO THE STORE. DURING THE TRIP, IT FELT LIKE THE VEHICLE WAS LAGGING, AS IF I WAS DRIVING WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ON. I VERIFIED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT ON, AND THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE (NOT THE "S'" MANUAL SHIFT POSITION). ON THE WAY HOME (APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES LATER), WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN, THE ENGINE LOST ALL POWER, STALLING THE VEHICLE. I WAS GOING DOWNHILL, SO I WAS ABLE TO NAVIGATE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO START. THE VEHICLE USUALLY STARTS IMMEDIATELY WITH THE PUSH BUTTON START, BUT THIS TIME IT DID NOT, I HAD TO HOLD THE PUSH BUTTON DOWN FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 TO 7 SECONDS BEFORE THE VEHICLE STARTED. WHILE DRIVING HOME AFTER THIS, IT AGAIN FELT LIKE THE VEHICLE WAS LAGGING, OR AS IF THE BRAKE WAS ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING. *TR
ON 4-16-13 THE ENGINE ON MY NEW ESCAPE STARTED TO SPUTTER AND NOT RUN RIGHT. ON 4-17-13 I CRANKED THE ESCAPE IN MY DRIVE WAY AND IT SPUTTERED AND DIED. AFTER ABOUT 3 HOURS THE ESCAPE CRANKED AND I DROVE IT TO THE FORD DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT TO HAVE IT FIXED. THE ESCAPE HAS BEEN AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP SINCE 04/17/13 AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE OR THE OTHER PART THAT KEEPS IT FROM RUNNING. THE ESCAPE HAS DIED OR QUIT RUNNING AT THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES THAT I KNOW OF FROM REPORTS THAT THE DEALERSHIP STAFF HAS UPDATED ME WITH. THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THE ESCAPE SIXTEEN DAYS. *TR
THE ENGINE HAS DIED AND SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY AT 40 MILES PER HOUR TWICE. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. ONE WEEK LATER ON MAY 17 THE VEHICLE DIED WHILE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. THE DRIVER HAD TO VEER UNPOWERED OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID A HEAD ON COLLISION. ENGINE HAS SHUT DOWN FOUR TIMES WHILE DRIVING IN ONE WEEK. *TR
VEHICLE REPORTED ENGINE TEMPERATURE TOO HIGH AND THAT I SHOULD PULL OVER SAFELY. THIS IS THE SAME ENGINE OVERHEATING / FIRE HAZARD PROBLEM SUPPOSEDLY FIXED DURING DECEMBER 2012 RECALL. *TR
ON TITANIUM MODELS, THE HVAC VENTS HAVE A CHROME SURROUND. THIS CHROME SURROUND CAUSES A BAD REFLECTIVITY PROBLEM WITH THE OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS ON DAYS WITH STRONG SUNLIGHT, WHICH MAKES IT HARD TO USE THE EXTERIOR MIRRORS. BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVERS SIDE MIRRORS ARE AFFECTED. THE CORRECT SOLUTION WOULD APPEAR TO BE CHANGING THE CHROME SURROUND FROM CHROME TO MATTE BLACK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. IN ADDITION, THE INFORMATION SCREEN CENTER ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED SERVICE AND THAT THE VEHICLE SURGED AND STALLED SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED; WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE MAP SENSOR. THE MAP SENSOR WAS REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,558 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,769.

2013 FORD ESCAPE SEL 2.0L. RECURRENT ISSUES WITH "ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW" DISPLAYING WHEN CAR IS STARTED (FIRST INSTANCE AT 5817 MILES, NOW AT 11K AND STILL HAPPENING). RESULTS IN ROUGH IDLE, POOR SHIFTING, HARSH ACCELERATION. CAN BE RESET WITH RESTART SO THE ERROR MUST BE VISIBLE AND THE CAR DRIVEN (IN TERRIBLE AND UNSAFE CONDITION) SO THE DEALER CAN VALIDATE THE CONDITION. CONDITION VALIDATED AT DEALER TWICE (HAS OCCURRED FIVE TIMES TOTAL) COMPUTER HAS BEEN RESET TWICE, MAP SENSOR HAS BEEN REPLACED. ISSUE STILL OCCURRING WITH NO PROPOSED REPAIR TO RESOLVE. *TR
WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A FULL STOP AT A STOP SIGN IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD, THE ENGINE RACED AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD BEYOND THE STOP SIGN. I, THE DRIVER, WAS REQUIRED TO QUICKLY PLACE THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL GEAR AS THE ACCELERATION OF THE ENGINE AND THE FULLY DEPRESSED BRAKE PEDAL SEEMED TO BE FIGHTING AGAINST EACH OTHER. *TR
SINCE JANUARY, MY 2013 ESCAPE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME MAJOR ENGINE ISSUE. FROM THE DRIVER'S PERSPECTIVE, THE CAR LURCHES AND JERKS AND FEELS AS THOUGH IT WILL STALL. THEN A ?SERVICE ENGINE NOW? LIGHT APPEARS. THIS OCCURS SHORTLY AFTER I PULL OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND PROCEED ON FLAT CITY BLOCKS. THIS LURCHING/JERKING IS FRIGHTENING AND FEELS UNSAFE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD FROM THE FORD SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THEY HAVE TWICE REPLACED THE M.A.P. SENSOR AND CONNECTOR. 3/22/13, 4/3/13. NOW THE CAR IS AT FORD 4/29/13 WITH THE SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS. I AWAIT A CALL FROM FORD SERVICE TO GIVE ME THE LATEST DIAGNOSIS/PROGNOSIS. THERE ARE OTHER ISSUES INVOLVING THE SYNC SYSTEM THAT ARE ALSO IN THE CASE RECORD. SUFFICE TO SAY, SYNC IS NOT WORKING AS ADVERTISED. FOR EXAMPLE, THE CLOCK IS INCONSISTENT AND THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM IS ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY PAIRING WITH BLUETOOTH DEVICES SUCH AS THE IPHONE. I AM AWARE THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THESE BUGS. AT PRESENT, I WAS ADVISED NOT TO PAIR MY DEVICES WHICH IS INCONVENIENT TO SAY THE LEAST. THE LURKING/JERKING IS THE MAIN COMPLAINT HOWEVER. *TR
FOR A YEAR I HAVE BEEN GETTING OIL BURNING FUMES INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN IDLING OR TRAVELING AT SLOW SPEEDS. THE SMELL ALSO LINGERS OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE FOR MANY HOURS AFTER PARKING IT IN THE GARAGE. THIS SMELL IS GIVING HEADACHES TO PEOPLE IN THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY DEALER TWICE AND THEY HAVE SAID NOTHING IS WRONG THIS IS A NORMAL SMELL CAUSED BECAUSE THE TURBO OPERATES VERY HOT. I HAVE FOUND MANY POSTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT OTHERS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PROBLEMS. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT A POSSIBLE FIRE SINCE SOME MODELS OF THIS VEHICLE HAVE HAD OIL LEAK FIRE PROBLEM RECALLS. *TR
WHEN THE START BUTTON OF THE VEHICLE IS PRESSED, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND SYNCH PANEL OF THE VEHICLE WILL ENERGIZE BUT THE STARTER MOTOR WILL NEITHER TURN OVER NOR ENGAGE. THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND HAS NEITHER BEEN REPRODUCED NOR CORRECTLY DIAGNOSED AT A FORD DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. NO ERRORS CODES HAVE EVER BEEN RECOVERED FROM THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE MALFUNCTION WHEN A FORD MECHANIC HAS SEARCHED THE SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES WITH NONE OF THE ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BEING SUCCESSFUL.
I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW NOV. 2012 AND IT HAD 200 MILES ON IT. FROM ABOUT MAR/APRIL 2013 I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN 6 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM OVER THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF THAT THEY CAN NOT SEEM TO FIX. WHEN I START THE CAR OR ITS ALREADY RUNNING AND I START TO DRIVE THE "ENGINE FAULT, SERVICE NOW" COMES UP AND THE CAR GOES INTO LIMP MODE UNTIL ITS SHUT OFF AND RE-STARTED AGAIN, AT WHICH POINT ITS A 50/50 CHANCE OF WORKING RIGHT. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR AS WELL AS WHEN IM DRIVING IT WILL GO INTO LIMP MODE AND NOT GET ABOVE FIRST GEAR AND IT SPUTTERS TO A STOP. I HAVE HAD MY ENGINE SENSORS CHANGED TWICE BECAUSE THEY KEPT BLOWING OUT. THE PROBLEM STILL CONTINUES. *TT

VERY DISAPPOINTED BY THE DESIGN. WHEEL WELL ARE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE ICE AND SLUSH THEY ARE TOO SMALL AND CAN'T REMOVE DEBRIS. WIPERS IN THE FRONT IS NOT THE GREATEST. I STARTED MY VEHICLE IN THE MORNING USING THE REMOTE START FEATURE. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES, I ENTERED MY VEHICLE, BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND PUT IT IN DRIVE. UPON DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR HESITATED, THEN SURGED, HESITATED AGAIN AND THEN STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I PUT MY HAZARD WARNING ON AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. IT WOULD NOT RESTART. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND LIMPED IT BACK INTO MY DRIVEWAY. I CALLED FOR TOW SERVICE AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME SEVERAL TIMES THAT THERE WERE NO LOGGED FAULTS IN THE ECM EVEN THOUGH I HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS OCCURRED. LATER HOWEVER, I LEARNED FROM THE ACTUAL MECHANIC, THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL CODES LOGGED AND THERE WAS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN OUT TO UPDATE THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WITH NEW SOFTWARE. THE TECH STATED HE COULD NOT DO THAT HOWEVER AS HIS TOOLING WOULD NOT SHOW THE BCM MODULE OR ALLOW HIM TO PROGRAM IT EVEN THOUGH THE DIRECTIONS STATED HIS VERSION OF TOOLING SOFTWARE SHOULD ALLOW IT. THEY CALLED FORD TECH SUPPORT AND RECEIVED NO ANSWERS. THEY SENT ME ON MY WAY WITH MY VEHICLE AND DID NOT DO ANYTHING WITH IT. I'M FEARFUL THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AND POSES A SAFETY RISK DUE TO LACK OF ACCELERATION AND STALLING. *TR
I WAS DRIVING FOR FIRST TIME AFTER BUYING VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 55 MPH AND THE REAR OF VEHICLE BEGAN TO BOUNCE PU AND DOWN ABOUT TEN BOUNCES. IT HAPPENED AFTER GOING OVER AN UNEVEN SURFACE, BUT NOT A BUMP. IT WAS VERY ODD. I HAD SOME DISCOMFORT IN MY NECK AS A RESULT AND A GENERAL UNEASE OF WONDERING WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE SUSPENSION AS WELL AS A FEAR OF LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS HASN'T HAPPENED AGAIN ALTHOUGH THE EXCESS IN BOUNCINESS AND THE VERY UNCOMFORTABLE RIDE OF THE VEHICLE HAS CONTINUED AND GIVES ME NECK PAIN EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT AND I'VE ONLY OWNED IT FOR ONE WEEK. IN MY VIEW, EITHER MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE SUSPENSION IS FAULTY OR THERE IS A GENERAL ISSUE WITH DESIGN OF SUSPENSION. *TR

THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL HESITATION. THE DEALER CLAIMED IT HAD TO WITH THE NEW 1.6 NO BOOST ENGINE AND THE DELAYED RESPONSE OF THE TURBO. HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO FIX FOR IT. ALSO, THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE CLOCK WOULD RESET FOR NOT REASON AND THE PRESET RADIO STATIONS WOULD RANDOMLY GO BLANK. THE DEALER RE-LOADED THE SOFTWARE FOR THE DISPLAY TO FIX THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, A WEEK LATER THE RADIO WENT COMPLETELY DEAD FOR ONE DAY, BUT CAME BACK ON THE NEXT DAY. ALSO, THE GAS MILEAGE WAS NO WHERE NEAR WHERE FORD INDICATED IT SHOULD BE ( 23 MPG CITY, 26 MPG COMBO, 33 MPG HIGHWAY).

THE SECOND TIME THEY CONTACT FORD WHICH TOLD THEM TO UPGRADE THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE, THIS TIME I CALLED TO HAVE THE MANUFACTURER SEND THE FORD ENGINEER WHICH STATES IT IS THE ONBOARD COMPUTER. HE EMAILED FORD FOR THE DIAGRAMS SINCE VEHICLE IS NEW AND NOT AVAILABLE TO THE DEALER (SO THAT IS WHAT I AM BEING TOLD). THE DEALER HAS NO IDEA OF WHAT THE PROBLEM TRULY IS. FINALLY CONTACT MANUFACTURING WHO STATES IT IS A COMPUTER COMPONENT. VEHICLE STILL AT DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE LUNGING AND HESITATION OF THE VEHICLE WHEN YOU DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR. IT DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO GET YOU OUT OF AN INTERSECTION IF NEEDED.
