2014 FORD ESCAPE 1.6L 80,000 MI. JUST LIKE HUNDREDS ON THIS SITE AND MOST LIKELY THOUSANDS ACROSS THE US - TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHILE DRIVING WITH NO WARNING. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND POSSIBLY DEADLY YET NHTSA AND FORD REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE RECURRING PROBLEM WITH A FAULTY TRANSMISSION RECALL. A 5 YR OLD VEHICLE WITH A YEARLY AVG OF 16,000 MI. SHOULD NOT REQUIRE A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF $5000 TO THE OWNER. MY ONLY HOPE IS PEOPLE USE THIS SITE TO RESEARCH VEHICLE PURCHASES AND AVOID MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE AS ME AND THOUSANDS OF OTHERS. THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF FORD ESCAPE - ONES THAT HAVE HAD PREMATURE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND ONES THAT SOON WILL.
AROUND 60,000 MILES MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE INTERMITTENT INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILURES DURING WHICH ALL GAUGES INCLUDING GAS, TEMPERATURE, AND SPEEDOMETER, FAIL TO LIGHT UP OR MOVE AND NONE OF THE WARNING LIGHTS (IE: SERVICE ENGINE, LOW FUEL, ETC) ARE ABLE TO LIGHT UP AS THE WHOLE DISPLAY IS SHUT DOWN. THIS ALSO FREQUENTLY IMPACTS MY TOUCH SCREEN DISPLAY, STEREO, AND A/C/HEAT, AS NOTHING WILL TURN ON, LIGHT UP, OR WORK. THE ISSUE BEGAN A FEW RANDOM TIMES WHEN I FIRST STARTED MY VEHICLE AROUND 6/12/19, BUT EVERYTHING WOULD RESOLVE ITSELF WITHIN 1-2 MINUTES OF DRIVING. WITHIN A FEW WEEKS, THE ISSUE STARTED OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY AND NOW THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WILL SOMETIMES SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT, TURNING, ETC. I AM STILL ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH NO ISSUES, FOR NOW, BUT I AM UNABLE TO SEE IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURES SUCH AS THE SPEEDOMETER OR WARNING LIGHTS.
THE CAR BEGAN TO OVERHEAT ONE MORNING WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A CITY STREET ABOUT 45-50 MPH. THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED OVERNIGHT FOR 8-10 HOURS BEFORE BEING DRIVEN. THERE WERE NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF LEAKING COOLANT WHERE THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED. WHEN COOLANT WAS ADDED AFTER THE CAR HAD COOLED OFF IT POURED OUT THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. IT WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC AND THERE WAS A LEAK/HOLE IN THE COOLANT TANK.
COOLANT ISSUES SIMILAR TO THOSE INCLUDED IN THE PART 573 SAFETY RECALL 17V-209, THOUGH MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED A FEW WEEKS LATER AND NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL, AS WELL AS ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT WERE SIMILAR TO OTHER RECALLS THAT DIDN'T INCLUDE MY VIN. IN JUNE 2019, IT STARTED WITH THE VEHICLE NOT TURNING ON OR SHIFTING OUT OF PARK INTERMITTENTLY.. WORK WAS PERFORMED AND THEN A WEEK LATER P0303 CYLINDER MISFIRE.. AGAIN WORK WAS COMPLETED, THE CODE CAME BACK, AND NOW FORD IS RECOMMENDING REPLACING THE ENGINE BUT WILL NOT COVER THE COSTS DUE TO BEING 5 YEARS AND IN EXCESS OF 60K MILES. TOOK FOR 2ND OPINION AND RAN OUT OF COOLANT AND OVERHEATED LESS THAN 5 MILES AWAY FROM FORD DEALERSHIP, EVEN THOUGH THEY JUST REPLACED THE COOLANT OVERFLOW TANK AND FILLED IT.. CONTINUES NEED COOLANT EVERY FEW MILES. SEEMS CRAZY THAT A VEHICLE THAT STAYED ON TOP OF ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT OR EXCESSIVE CONDITIONS WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE AT LESS THAN 94K MILES AND IS THE CONSUMER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO FOOT THE BILL. I'VE ALREADY SPENT ALMOST $3K ON THIS ISSUE AND FORD VERBALLY TOLD ME JUST THE ENGINE WOULD BE AROUND $7-8K WITHOUT LABOR. THEY ALSO HAD THEIR SALES DEPARTMENT CALL ME AND OFFER TO "TAKE A COUPLE HUNDRED OFF A NEW VEHICLE" FOR MY CURRENT ONE. VERY DISHEARTENING TO HEAR THAT WHEN I'VE TAKEN CARE OF THE VEHICLE AS THE SOLE OWNER, LESS A FEW RECOMMENDED TIRE ROTATIONS.
BRAKES NOT ENGAGING WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS GOING AT A VERY LOW RATE OF SPEED (UNDER 15MPH). COULD ONLY STOP WITH PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND UTILIZING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND IT'S THE VACUUM PUMP, NO BIG DEAL EXCEPT THE PART IS ON A 2 MONTH BACK ORDER BECAUSE IT SEEMS EVERYONE'S HAS GONE BAD BUT NO RECALL. MY MECHANIC IS BAFFLED!!
ON MAY 13, 2019 TOOK MY CAR TO WORLD FORD TO FIX DOOR RECALL, AS I WAS THERE WAS TOLD I NEEDED BRAKE AND TRANSMISSION FLUID REPLACED. AFTER I GOT MY CAR BACK I WAS SITTING IDLE AND MY TEMP GAUGE WHEN TO HIGH TURN OFF ENGINE SAFELY. I CHECKED THE COOLANT LEVEL IT WAS LOW ADDED WATER. I DIDN'T HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY DAY. ON MAY 31ST, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, MY HUSBAND CHECKED THE DIP STICK WHICH HAD NO OIL ON IT. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO WORLD FORD, WHO STATED I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE BECAUSE I HAD METAL SHAVINGS IN MY ENGINE AND OIL ALL OVER MY CAR FROM AN OIL LEAK. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE PEOPLE WHO CHANGE MY OIL LAST, I SPOKE WITH THAT COMPANY AND HAVE HAD BOTH THE OWNERS GO TO WORLD FORD, WHO HAS YET TO RETURN EITHER OF THEIR PHONE CALLS. I HAVE PICTURES OF OIL UNDERNEATH MY CAR, WHICH IN TURN HAS ALL STEMMED FROM MY COOLANT BEING LOW AND OVERHEATING MY ENGINE THAT HAS CAUSED AN OIL LEAK. I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD THEY HAVE NO RESOURCES TO FIX MY CAR AND I CAN PAY FOR IT AND IF THEY DO COME UP WITH A PROGRAM I MIGHT BE ABLE TO BE REIMBURSED. WORLD FORD CALLED ME ON JUNE 14TH AND SAID THEY FIXED THE COOLANT RECALL, BUT NO ONE IS FIXING MY ENGINE SO I CAN COME GET THE CAR. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS THAT BECAUSE OF THEIR FAULTY ENGINEERING I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR 3 WEEKS.
THIS VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN A 2017 SAFETY RECALL RELATED TO OVERHEATING AND COOLANT LEAKS, BUT IT WAS NOT. IN FEBRUARY 2019, IT OVERHEATED WITH LITTLE WARNING ON THE FREEWAY, BLOWING A HOLE IN THE MOTOR (AT 62K MILES). FORD REJECTED REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE, SO REPAIR WAS DONE BY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC (MOTOR REPLACED). THREE MONTHS LATER, DURING FREEWAY DRIVE, MESSAGE APPEARED SEVERAL TIMES STATING POWER WAS BEING CUT TO KEEP ENGINE FROM OVERHEATING (NO INDICATION ENGINE ACTUALLY WAS OVERHEATING). ULTIMATELY, MESSAGE APPEARED WARNING TO PULL OFF THE ROAD IMMEDIATELY. OVERHEATED ENGINE COMPLETELY MELTED A BRACKET. MECHANIC IDENTIFIED A BURNT-OUT SENSOR BUT COULD NOT SAY WHY IT HAPPENED. I SECURED TWO DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSTICS. FIRST CONDUCTED COMPREHENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC AND CONCLUDED A WASTE GATE WAS STUCK OPEN; NO MENTION OF DAMAGED SENSOR. SECOND SAID THE DEGAS BOTTLE WAS CRACKED AND DECLINED TO PERFORM PRESSURE TEST; NO MENTION OF DAMAGED SENSOR OR WASTE GATE ISSUE. I CANNOT AFFORD ALL THESE RANDOM REPAIRS AND IN ANY CASE, DO NOT FEEL THIS CAR CAN BE PUT INTO A SAFE CONDITION FOR DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION AND REQUIRED EXCESSIVE FORCE. B & B FORD (10476 DUNBARTON BLVD, BARNWELL, SC 29812, (803) 259-5524) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER HAD NOT RECEIVED AUTHORIZATION TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ELECTRIC POWER STEERING RECALL. IN ADDITION, THE FIVE YEAR WARRANTY STATUTE EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,200. *BF *JB
I WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE, AND MY LUG NUTS HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WENT "BAD." IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE LUG NUTS FOR THESE VEHICLES WERE BUILT IN 2 PARTS. WHEN THE WEATHER GETS COLD IT CAN CAUSE SWELLING AND DEBRIS TO GET TRAPPED IN BETWEEN. THEY TOLD ME ALL 20 OF MY LUG NUTS NEEDED REPLACED AND THIS JUST HAPPENS FROM TIME TO TIME. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO REPLACE THEM BECAUSE I WOULD BE UNABLE TO CHANGE MY TIRE IN THE EVENT OF A FLAT BECAUSE THE TIRE IRON WOULD NOT FIT AROUND THE LUG NUTS ANYMORE. WHEN ON MY WAY BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP IN THE SHUTTLE, MY COURTESY DRIVER WAS CHATTING WITH ME ABOUT WHAT I HAD DONE. I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AND HOW I HAD TO PAY $150 TO GET MY LUG NUTS REPLACED. HE WAS SHOCKED IT WASN'T A RECALL. HE SAID THEY ALREADY KNOW THE MAKES AND MODELS AFFECTED BY THESE FAULTY LUG NUTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING AND THE VEHICLE LOST SPEED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER WITH MUCH EFFORT. GENE LATTA FORD (1565 CARLISLE ST, HANOVER, PA 17331, (717) 633-1999) STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED THE FAILURE HIMSELF AND FOUND THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE TO BE THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH AND THE SHIFT SOLENOID. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO BE OFFICIALLY DIAGNOSED DUE TO PAST EXPERIENCES WITH OTHER REPAIRS. AFTER HEARING THE CONTACT'S CONCERNS WITH PAST DIAGNOSES, THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
INTERMITTENTLY WHEN YOU START YOUR VEHICLE, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAUGES AND INFORMATION DISPLAY MAY BE INOPERATIVE. IN ADDITION, ALL WARNING LAMPS AND INDICATORS, AND AUDIBLE WARNINGS MAY ALSO NOT FUNCTION. INTERMITTENT STALLING, AND INCREASES OF SPEED WITHOUT USER INTERFERENCE
THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT THERE ARE 3 INTERNAL FAULTS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE NOW WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LUNDGREN FORD (LOCATED AT 900 OLD HWY 53, EVELETH, MN 55734, (800) 954-0323) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE WAS EFFECTED BY A RECALL ISSUE IN NOVEMBER 2018, THE ENGINE OVERHEATS CAUSING THE COOLANT CONTAINER TO CRACK AND LEAK. I PAID $175 TO REPLACE THE COOLANT CONTAINER IN JUNE 2018. HOWEVER IN NOVEMBER 2018 MY CAR COMPLETELY TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY CITY STREET AT STOP LIGHT AND SMOKE STARTED COMING IN THROUGH THE VENTS AND THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE. WE NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE OF A RECALL UNTIL AFTER THIS INCIDENT OCCURED. AFTER 30 DAYS FORD FINALLY ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY AND PAID $9500 TO REPLACE THE DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOTALLED. THE DAY I GOT IT BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP I HAD NOTICED A CHANGE IN THE TRANSMISSION. I MADE THE DEALERSHIP AWARE BUT THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T NOTICE A DIFFERENCE. MY TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY DIED 4 MONTHS LATER WHILE DRIVING AND I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET AHOLD OF SOMEONE FROM FORD CORPORATION SINCE, IT HAS BEEN WAITING AT A DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIP FOR A MONTH AND A HALF AGO. TODAY WE FINALLY RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE FORD GOODWILL DEPARTMENT OFFERING $1200 OFF THE TOTAL COST OF OVER $5200. UNFORTUNATELY WE CANNOT AFFORD THE $4000 AND THEY WILL NOT PAY ANYTHING OF WE DECIDE TO HAD A USED TRANSMISSION PUT IN. THEY WILL NOT GIVE US A PHONE NUMBER OR EMAIL TO FORD LEGAL JUST A FAX. SOMEONE DID TELL US ON FRIDAY THEY WERE TRANSFERRING OUR CASE TO LEGAL AND WOULD CALL THE DEALERSHIP AND US ON MONDAY BUT THEY DID NOT AND THE PERSON I TALKED TO TODAY SAYS THERE IS NO RECORD OF US SPEAKING TO ANYONE FRIDAY OR ANYTHING BEING TRANSFERRED TO LEGAL. IT HAS BEEN IMPOSSIBLE TO GET ANY INFORMATION FROM ANYONE AND WE ARE UNSURE WHAT WE SHOULD DO. I HAVE A WARRANTY FROM THE WORK DONE IN NOVEMBER REGARDING THE RECALL ISSUE BUT FORD IS SAYING THIS IS UNRELATED AND WILL NOT BE COVERED, BUT ALSO WILL NOT TEAR APART THE TRANSMISSION TO DETERMINE THE ACTUAL CAUSE DUE TO THE LABOR COST UNLESS WE PAY FOR THAT AS WELL.
DRIVER FAULT ASSIST ERROR. THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING AND VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. HAD TO HAVE THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING COLUMN REPLACED. THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED AFTER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR 3 HOURS. WE STOPPED FOR A BREAK AT A REST STOP AND WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED TO CONTINUE THE TRIP IT GAVE THE ERROR AND THE POWER STEERING DIDN'T WORK.
THE ENGINE SPLASH SHIELD LOST ITS BOLTS & FELL TO THE GROUND DRAGGING UNDERNEATH THE CAR WHILE DRIVING (THE BACK STAYED ATTACHED, BUT THE FRONT WAS DOWN ON THE GROUND - LIKE A SNOW SHOVEL). I WAS DRIVING, IN MOTION & HEARD THE DRAGGING NOISE.
THE CAR'S ENGINE WILL CUT OFF, LIGHTS AND ELECTRICITY WILL STAY ON, BUT THE ENGINE WILL CUT OUT WHILE DRIVING. ACCELERATION IS LOST, AND CANNOT START MOVING AGAIN UNTIL THE CAR IS PUT IN PARK, TURNED OFF, AND TURNED BACK ON. THIS IS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT 30 MPH AND SLOWER, AS WELL AS 55 MPH. THE CAR WILL GIVE AN ENGINE FAULT OR ENGINE FAILURE AND BEGIN JERKING. THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS. THE MOST RECENT TIME, THE CAR BEGAN JERKING AFTER TURNING AND COULD NOT STAY ON FOR LONGER THAN 10 SECONDS BEFORE SHUTTING OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 6-10 TIMES, AND ALMOST CAUSED CAR ACCIDENTS. MULTIPLE PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, AND THE ISSUE STILL HAPPENS.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH ON A CITY STREET, THE CAR BEGAN TO FLASH WARNING SIGNALS STATING TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY. WHEN I LOOKED AT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE IT WAS ALL THE WAY ON HOT, BUT HAD NOT STARTED SMOKING YET. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE HEAD GASKET FAILED WHICH RESULTED IN THE OVERHEATING. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP IN 2017, AND I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, A COOLANT LEAKAGE PROBLEM, BRAND NEW BRAKES, NEW TIRES DUE TO "WEAR AND TEAR," AND NOW THIS. MY COMMUTE HOME FROM WORK TAKES ABOUT AN HOUR ON A HIGHWAY THEN CITY STREET, AND WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR GAVE NO SIGNAL TO THE RISING TEMPERATURE. WHILE ON THE CITY STREET I WAS AT A RED LIGHT, AND ONCE I STARTED TO DRIVE AGAIN THE CAR THEN FLASHED TO PULL OVER AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LOOKING AT THE PROBLEMS OTHER FORD ESCAPE 2014 CAR OWNERS HAVE HAD, AND THE RECALLS THAT OCCURRED BEFORE MY CAR, IT SEEMS THAT THIS ENGINE PROBLEM IS BEING EXPERIENCED AMONGST OTHERS, AND COULD BE DUE TO THE COOLANT RECALL THAT OCCURRED IN APRIL OF 2017. PERSONALLY, I BOUGHT MY CAR IN SEPTEMBER OF 2017 AND WAS UNAWARE OF SUCH RECALL.
FORD ESCAPE WITH 77,000 STOPPED MOVING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE TRAVELLING OVER 30 MPH, TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP WHO IS INDICATING THAT IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION.
WHILE DRIVING THE ESCAPE THROUGH CITY STREETS, AN ERROR SHOWED UP ON THE DASH AND SAID 'STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. NEEDS SERVICE.' AT THAT POINT, THE POWERING STEERING STOPPED AND IT BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE TO THE CAR IN THE PAST 24 HOURS. I HAVE RESTARTED THE CAR WITH EACH INCIDENT BUT AFTER ALREADY DRIVING, THE ERROR CAME BACK UP. I BELIEVE THAT THIS CAN BE DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE OR POWER STEERING COMPONENT FAILURE.
HAD RECALL DONE AT DEALERSHIP TO PREVENT VEHICLE FIRE DUE TO WARPED HEADS ON ENGINE BECAUSE NO SENSOR TO TELL YOU LOW ON COOLANT. CAR HAS OVER 100,000 ON IT NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. NOW AFTER RECALL WORK IS DONE CAR IS SHUTTING DOWN IN TRAFFIC SAYING ENGINE OVERHEATING. BROUGHT TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE IS ALOT OF THESE COMING IN. WAS TOLD DEALERSHIP IS A MONTH BEHIND ON ENGINE WORK. DEALERSHIP HAD FOR 7 DAYS KEPT SAYING THEY WERE GOING TO LOOK AT IT TOMORROW TO DIAGNOSE. THEY WOULD CALL BACK AND SAY ANOTHER DAY. WHEN TO PICK UP AND THEY SAID NOT UNDER WARRANTY WOULD BE ALOT OF MONEY TO FIX. THIS IS MY DAUGHTERS CAR AND IT IS SHUTTING DOWN ON FREEWAYS AND SIDE ROADS. NOT GOOD. DANGEROUS. SOUNDS LIKE DEFECTIVE ENGINE
I WAS LEAVING HOME, GOT INTO VEHICLE, STARTED IT AND NOTICED ALERT THAT SAID 'STEERING ASSIST FAULT, SERVICE REQUIRED'. I HAD NOT HAD ANY ISSUES WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE DAY BEFORE. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY (5 YEARS/60,000 MILES) WAS EXPIRED BECAUSE I HAD 64000 MILES ON IT. REPAIR AND RENTAL CAR FOR THREE DAYS (HAPPENED ON A SATURDAY) WERE OUT OF POCKET. ENDED UP BEING THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY. REPAIR WAS JUST UNDER $2000. THREE DAY CAR RENTAL WAS $100. THERE WAS A RECALL ON OLDER VEHICLES FOR STEERING BUT NOT FOR MY MODEL YEAR. THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF TURNING IT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY BAD. THERE ARE OTHER REPORTS OF THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO OTHERS SO I DO NOT BELIEVE THE ISSUE WITH THE STEERING HAS BEEN FIXED. STEERING SHOULD NOT GO OUT WITH SO FEW MILES ON THE VEHICLE.

TIRE WAS PURCHASED FROM HOLMAN FORD, TURNERSVILLE, NJ. WHEN CONTACTED THEY DIRECTED US TO CONTACT PIRELLI. WHEN CONTACTED, PIRELLI TOLD US TO HAVE FORD SHIP THE FAILED TIRE TO THEM SO "THEIR LAB" COULD EXAMINE IT. I INFORMED THE PIRELLI REPRESENTATIVE I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE OTHER 3 TIRES ON THE CAR FAILING IN THE SAME MANNER BUT HE OFFERED NOTHING. VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE, ALL BECAUSE FORD MANUFACTURED THE LUG NUTS WITH A 'SOLDERED CAP" UNLIKE MOST WHICH ARE ONE PIECE. THE SOLDERED CAP LEAKS WATER INSIDE, WHICH FREEZES AND CAUSES THE LUG NUT TO SWELL, AND NO LONGER FIT THE TIRE WRENCH.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would not properly accelerate due to a #2 engine cylinder misfire. Additionally, there was blue smoke coming from the exhaust. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the vehicle had experienced an internal coolant leak into the engine cylinder. MY CAR WAS SERVICED FOR THE COOLANT RELATED RECALL. LESS THAN A MONTH LATER THE LOW COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON AND I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK IN FOR SERVICE. THEY DIDN'T SEE A LEAK AND BELIEVED THERE MUST HAVE BEEN AN AIR BUBBLE IN THE SYSTEM THAT WORKED ITSELF OUT AND ADDED MORE COOLANT. LESS THAN A MONTH AFTER THAT THE LOW COOLANT LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN AND I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED. THEY DETERMINED THAT THERE'S AN INTERNAL LEAK AND COOLANT HAD BEEN LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. THEY HAVE RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE ENGINE AND SAY THAT THIS ISSUE IS DIFFERENT THAN THE COOLANT RELATED RECALL THAT MY CAR HAD BEEN ORIGINALLY SERVICED FOR. THIS CAR IS A 2014 WITH LESS THAN 100K MILES ON IT. IT SHOULD NOT NEED A NEW ENGINE.

IF THE LOCATION OF THE ANTIFREEZE STORAGE EASY TO GET TO IT I JUST GO BUY SOME AND REFILL IT MY SELF.
