WHILE DRIVING OUR 2014 FORD ESCAPE SE SHORTLY AFTER BEING SERVICED AT OUR LOCAL COGGIN FORD FOR A MAINTENANCE INCLUDING A TRANSMISSION FLUSH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO EXHIBIT PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PLAGUED WITH PROBLEMS SINCE PURCHASE FROM A USED DEALER AND EACH TIME IT WAS BROUGHT TO FORD WHO CLAIMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM EVERY TIME. DESPITE THE VEHICLE BEING BROUGHT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IT CONTINUED TO HAVE MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WHICH SEEMED TO BE MISDIAGNOSED SUCH AS A WASTEGATE AND TURBO THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHEN THE INTAKE HOSE WAS SIMPLY NOT RECONNECTED AFTER RECALL ISSUES WERE SUPPOSEDLY ADDRESSED. THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY SIGNAL THAT THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS LOW. WHILE SITTING AT A STOPLIGHT AFTER NORMAL OPERATION THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ENGAGE THE DRIVESHAFT ONCE THE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED. AFTER FAILING TO HEAR THE GEARS ENGAGE THE ACCELERATOR WAS RELEASED FOLLOWED BY A LOUD THUD AND THEN THE VEHICLE JERKED EXTREMELY AS THE GEARS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO MOVE. THE VEHICLE THEN FELT AS IF IT WAS NOT FULLY CATCHING GEARS AS IT BEGAN TO OVER REV WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CONTINUE DRIVING. UPON THIS HAPPENING THE VEHICLE THEN ENGAGED A SAFETY MECHANISM WHERE THE VEHICLE ONLY ALLOWED FOR IT TO MOVE FAR ENOUGH FOR US TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT AND SHUT IT OFF. A TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED HOME. THIS WAS AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE BACK FROM FORD WHOM DID A DIAGNOSTIC STATING THAT THE RECALL ISSUES WERE TAKEN CARE OF AND THE TRANSMISSION FLUSH WAS COMPLETED. BEING THAT THE PROBLEMS HAD BEEN SO REPETITIOUS WE HAVE LEFT THE VEHICLE PARKED AND NO LONGER DRIVE IT DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO AFFORD THE COST OF A REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION. IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND WE STILL OWE OVER 12 THOUSAND DOLLARS ON THE VEHICLE. NOW WE ARE STUCK WITH A CAR PAYMENT FOR A CAR WE CAN'T EVEN DRIVE AND THIS CAR HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE IT'S PURCHASE.
A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING 2/21/2017. THE ESCAPE STARTING RUNNING HOT THEN IT SHUT DOWN THE CAR ACCELERATION . TOOK IT BACK BECAUSE IT UNDER THE FACTORY WARRANTY, THEY SAID THE HEAD GASKET WERE BLOWN AND LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE ENGINE. MIND YOU IT ONLY RAN HOT FOR ONE MINUTE. THEY REPAIRED IT. A YEAR LATER IN FEBRUARY BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY 2/26- I SAY 2/19. THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, THEY REPAIRED THAT. A RECALL ON OWN COOLANT VALVE WAS FIXED BY DEALER. NOW IN THE BEGINNING OF MARCH THE WATER PUMP AND ENGINE PROBLEM HAS COME BACK. IF FILL THIS MODEL OF 2014 FORD ESCAPE IS A LEMON AND I SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR ALL MY INCONVENIENCE. IT BEEN NOTHING BUT A MONEY DRAIN AND THE DEALERSHIP IS ROBBING ME. I TOOK IT UP THERE TO SEE IF THEY COULD REPAIR THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY SAID MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. THE TOLD ME THE WATER PUMP NEEDED TO BE FIX AND IT WILL COST $1,300 AND THAT I HAVE TO PAY THAT BEFORE THE CAN LOOK AT HEAD GASKET. TO MUCH TO PAY AND THERE CHARGING A SERVICE FEE WHICH IS OK BUT THE NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT A STORAGE FEE. I HAD A TRIP SCHEDULE FOR DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. SHE TOLD ME THEY LEFT A MESSAGE DAYS AFTER BUT NEVER RECEIVED IT. I ASKED IF THEY CAN WAVE THE STORAGE FEE AND I'LL PAY THE REST BUT WAS TOLD THEY CAN'T DO SO. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH THE MANAGER AND WAS TOLD HE WON'T BE BACK UNTIL MONDAY AND IT FRIDAY. CALLED CORPORATE THEY WERE NO HELP AT ALL. FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS THE WORST CAR COMPANY AND THEY DO NOT HELP THERE CUSTOMERS. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND NO SOLUTION TO A PROBLEM THAT THEY NO THIS CAR IS KNOWN FOR. I'LL BE TAKING LEGAL ACTION IN A CIVIL SUIT AGAINST FORD. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING AND IF ANYONE HAS A SOLUTION PLEASE CONTACT ME. THANK YOU. ( I WILL NEVER THINK FORD FIRST- YOUR LAST). AT FREEWAY SPEED, THE TRANSMISSION ON OUR 2014 FORD ESCAPE FAILED, CAUSING THE CAR TO IMMEDIATELY SLOW DOWN. MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR ONTO THE FREEWAY SHOULDER. PER THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR WAS TOWED, THEY SEE A LOT OF THESE TRANSMISSIONS FAILING. THE CAR HAD AROUND 60,000 MILES, WHICH IS FAR TOO EARLY FOR A TRANSMISSION FAILURE. FORD CLAIMS THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL FOR FAILING TRANSMISSIONS. THE NHTSA MUST ACT BEFORE A SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH OCCURS AS A RESULT OF THE POOR DESIGN OR MANUFACTURE OF THESE TRANSMISSIONS. MANY OF THESE CARS ARE COMING INTO THE SAME MILEAGE AS OUR VEHICLE, SO THE NUMBERS OF THESE FAILURES WILL BEGIN TO SURGE.
LOW COOLANT LIGHT APPEARED. HAD OIL CHANGED/FLUIDS TOPPED. A WEEK LATER, COOLANT LIGHT APPEARED AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT BACK TO PLACE THAT CHANGED MY OIL. COOLANT WAS NOT LOW. THEY USED A DIAGNOSTIC CODE READER THAT INDICATED CYLINDER 2 HAD MISFIRED 3 TIMES (I WAS UNAWARE). A FEW DAYS LATER, TOOK IT TO HAVE CHECKED (FIRESTONE). THEY USED A DIAGNOSTIC CODE THAT SAID THE SAME THING BUT ONE OF THE MECHANICS RELATED HE HAD JUST FIXED A FORD ESCAPE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND THAT THEY HAD THEN FIGURED OUT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE PROBLEM. FORD SAYS MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THERE HAS BEEN NO LEAK NOTED THIS ENTIRE TIME. THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. I DROVE IT APPROXIMATELY 25 MINUTES, WENT IN TO A BUSINESS FOR 2 HOURS, CAME BACK OUT AND STARTED THE CAR, PULLED OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND SAW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND A MESSAGE THAT THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING AND PULL OVER SAFELY (WHICH I DID IMMEDIATELY). THERE WAS NO OBVIOUS SIGN THAT THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING (STEAM, ODOR, LEAKING, ETC). THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY START, BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. HAD IT TOWED TO JOHNSON CITY FORD WHICH TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO DROP THE ENGINE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE ($1700) AND THAT THE TOTAL REPAIR JOB WOULD COST BETWEEN $3500-$7000+ DEPENDING ON THE CAUSE AND DAMAGE (MAY HAVE TO HAVE A NEW MOTOR!). HE THEN TOLD ME IT WOULD BE ABOUT 3 +WEEKS BEFORE THEY COULD REPAIR IT SINCE THERE ARE 5 JUST LIKE IT WAITING TO BE SERVICED! I QUESTIONED HIM ABOUT THIS. HE RELATED THAT THERE WERE 5 FORD ESCAPES WITH A COOLANT LOW/OVERHEATING ISSUE CURRENTLY IN THEIR SHOP. MY VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW. IT IS GARAGE KEPT AND SERVICED REGULARLY. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW A VEHICLE THAT IS WELL-KEPT AND HAS UNDER 90,000 MILES CAN SUDDENLY, WITHOUT WARNING OR REASON, HAVE THIS KIND OF ISSUE? WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO OVERHEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FORD MOTOR CREDIT COMPANY (LOCATED AT 9009 CAROTHERS PKWY, FRANKLIN, TN 37067, (800) 727-7000) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD WAS FRACTURED AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), BUT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON ME WHILE DRIVING OUT OF NOWHERE. WAS DRIVING FINE NOT EVEN 8 HOURS BEFOREHAND. AFTER TURNING ON THE CAR THE STEERING WAS HARD TO KEEP CONTROL OF. AS I KEPT DRIVING THE POWER STEERING WAS LOCKING UP AND SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GRINDING GEARS TOGETHER. AFTER STOPPING FOR FOOD, TURNED THE CAR BACK ON TO REVERSE AND THE STEERING WHEEL HAD LOCKED AND ON THE DASH IT STATED 'STEERING LOSS. PARK SAFELY.' AFTER THIS AND EVERYTHING LOCKED I CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO TOW IT HOME IN MY DRIVEWAY.
OUR 2014 FORD ESCAPE WAS RECENTLY UNDER REPAIR FOR THE JAN 2018 COOLANT RECALL. IT WAS COMPLETED ON MAR 15, 2019. ON MAR 16, 2019. OUR VEHICLE HAD DRIVEN ON THE FREEWAY FOR 3 HRS FOR A DISTANCE OF 200 MILES AND UPON EXITING THE FREEWAY AND STOPPING AT A STOPLIGHT. MY VEHICLE STOPPED MOVING AND MANAGED TO GET IT ONTO A GAS STATION PARKING LOT.. I HAD IT TOWED THE NEAREST CAR DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD DIAGNOSED IT AND CAME BACK WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND COOLANT BEING THE ISSUE. THEY ARE CURRENTLY WANTING TO CHARGE US A LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY TO FOX THE REPAIRS AND TRANSMISSION. I NOTICED THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION AS OF SEPT 2018. NO RECALL MESSAGE HAS BEEN SENT OUT YET. HOWEVER. I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE IS AFFECTED AS IT WOULD MAKE AN UNUSUAL SOUND FROM TIME TO TIME WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK, REVERSE, OR DRIVE AS IF IT GOT STUCK. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SOMEONE FROM THE FORD ASSIST ME WITH THIS BECAUSE IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE FOR ME TO DEAL WITH THIS IF THIS HAS BEEN A DISCOVERED ISSUE. PLEASE ASSIST ME IN THIS MATTER. THANK YOU.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the coolant level warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over and checked the coolant level and noticed that there was coolant in the coolant reservoir. The contact stated that after resuming driving the coolant level warning light illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. The contact added more coolant and the vehicle started operating normally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was contacted, and the manufacturer stated that there was no recall on the vehicle for the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO SAM LEMAN FORD (LOCATED AT 1508 MORRISSEY DR, BLOOMINGTON, IL 6170, (309) 663-1331) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
ON WEDNESDAY MARCH 13, 2019, I WAS DRIVING WEST AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES PER HOUR, ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 10 IN SAN ANTONIO TEXAS BETWEEN FRESNO DR. AND WEST AVE. THE HOUR WAS APPROXIMATELY 10:00 PM. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR, TEMPERATURE WAS IN THE MIDDLE 60'S. TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT. SUDDENLY, I HEARD A VERY LOUD NOISE, THE SUNROOF GLASS ON MY VEHICLE EXPLODED. I DID NOT SEE AN OBJECTS OR HEAR ANYTHING THAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE GLASS TO BREAK. I HAD NOT DRIVEN UNDER AN OVERPASS OR BRIDGE. I EXITED THE FREEWAY AT WEST AVE. AND ENTERED A 7 ELEVEN PARKING LOT TO INSPECT THE DAMAGE. THE FRONT PANEL OF THE SUNROOF WAS BROKEN. I INSPECTED THE SUNROOF FOR EVIDENCE OF AN OBJECT THAT MAY HAVE HIT THE GLASS, BUT FOUND NONE. SOME OF THE GLASS DID FALL INTO THE SPACE BETWEEN THE ROOF AND THE INTERIOR PANEL, BUT THE MAJORITY OF THE GLASS WAS STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL PLACE. IT APPEARED BOWED AS IF THE BREAK OCCURRED FROM THE INSIDE OUT.
DOES NOT GET ADVERTISED FUEL EFFICIENCY. FUEL EFFICIENCY IS MUCH LOWER AT AROUND 22 MPG COMBINED. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
VEHICLE HAD A RECALL FOR COOLANT SENSOR FIXED IN 01/2018. SINCE THEN COOLANT HAS RUN LOW, BEEN CHECKED NUMEROUS TIMES, HAD HOSES REPLACED, SEVERAL DIAGNOSTIC TESTS LOOKING FOR PROBLEMS, CAR HAS SINCE OVERHEATED, AND IS NOW IN NEED OF A NEW ENGINE BECAUSE OF COOLANT SYSTEM PROBLEM NOT FIXED BY A SENSOR ALERTING YOU TO A LEVEL OF FLUID. NO LEAK EXISTS SO COOLING FLUID IS WORKING ITS WAY THROUGH THE ENGINE SYSTEM SOME OTHER WAY. THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED FOR NEARLY 7 MONTHS NOW. THE VEHICLE RAN EMERGENCY MESSAGES ON THE DASH MERE MINUTES AFTER STARTING STATING THAT THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING AND TO IMMEDIATELY EXIT THE VEHICLE.

MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LIFTGATE INDEPENDENTLY OPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MOCK FORD SALES (LOCATED AT 913 SE 6TH ST, GRANTS PASS, OR 97526, (541) 476-6656) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RKE TRANSMITTER MODULES SHOWED NO CODES. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HANDS-FREE POWER LIFTGATE OPTION SHOWED NO FAULT CODES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,180.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE LOW COOLANT LEVEL WARNING LIGHT AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE LOST MOTIVE POWER. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. CHRIS AUFFENBERG LINCOLN LOCATED AT 5840 MO-100, WASHINGTON, MO 63090, WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED, THE COOLANT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO BECAME AWARE OF A COOLANT LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION COOLER ASSEMBLY HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
WHEN DRIVING FOR LONG DISTANCE ABOUT MORE 60 MILE (ON A HIGHWAY) I GOT SPONTANEOUS MESSAGE "POWER REDUCED TO LOWER ENGINE TEMPERATURE" FOLLOWED BY "TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE NOW" THEN THE CAR ENTERS LIMP MODE. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES, THE CAR STARTS ACCELERATING AND GET BACK TO NORMAL EVEN THE TWO MESSAGES ABOVE STILL APPEARS ON THE DASH. THEN AFTER A WHILE, THE TWO MESSAGES DISAPPEAR. THE CAR HAS BEEN CHECKED BY THE FORD COMPANY HERE AT MY COUNTRY, THE RESULT WAS NEGATIVE AND THE SYSTEM APPEARS TO BE NORMAL. HOWEVER, THE MESSAGES ABOVE APPEARS ONLY ON A HIGHWAY.
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED STATIONARY WHILE I WENT INSIDE THE OFFICE BUILDING TO RUN AN ERRAND. WHEN I CAME OUT, MY DAUGHTER OPENED THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FIRST AS I WAS OPENING MINE AND SHE SCREAMED AND SMOKE AND FIRE CAME BURSTING OUT OF THE CAR AND ALL THE WINDOWS BLEW OUT AND KNOCKED US BOTH OFF OUR FEET. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SAID IT WAS ELECTRICAL AS THE ENGINE WAS STILL INTACT.
NOISE IN REAR EVEN AT 5 MPH SHAKING RATTLING MAKES THIS VEHICLE MISERABLE TO DRIVE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE "SERVICE THE ENGINE" INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED FLAMES UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE CONTACT CALLED 911 AND TWO POLICE VEHICLES AND A FIRE TRUCK IMMEDIATELY ARRIVED AT THE SCENE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT AND A FIRE REPORT WERE FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND 18V471000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TRANSMISSION FAIL: WE WERE DRIVING OUR 2014 FORD ESCAPE AT TIME OF THE FAIL. TURNING INTO TRAFFIC AND THE CAR WOULDNT GO ALMOST CAUSED A CAR TO HINT US CAUSE WE COULDNT GO WE COULDNT GET OUT OF THE WAY. FORD IS SAYING ITS THE TRANSMISSION LINE NOT BUILDING ENOUGH PRESSURE TO CHANGE GEARS. WE TOOK IT FORD ONE YR AGO BECAUSE IT WAS SHIFTING RIGHT FROM 2ND GEAR, THEY CHANGED THE FLUIDS SAID IT TESTED FINE AT THOS TIME. ONE YR TO THE DAY TRANSMISSION FAILS.

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A FORD DEALERSHIP AND STATED THE HEAD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD WITH AN ESTIMATED OF $3500.00. I DID NOT RECEIVE NOTICE OF THE RECALL REFERENCED ABOVE. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN "LOSING" COOLANT, WHICH I HAD BEEN REFILLING QUITE OFTEN WITH NO VISIBLE LEAKS OR PUDDLES. IF I HAD KNOWN OF THE RECALL THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. DUE TO AN ISSUE BY THE MANUFACTURER, I AM NOW SOMEHOW RESPONSIBLE TO FIX THEIR PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MANY OTHER VEHICLES AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY THE COMPANY. I AM THANKFUL I DID NOT HAVE MY YOUNG DAUGHTER WITH ME AT THE TIME.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT A NORMAL RATE OF SPEED (65), AS BY VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL OUT. THE CAR STOPPED DRIVING RIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY, AND I WAS BARELY ABLE TO PULL IT TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT GETTING HIT BY OTHER CARS. ONCE I PULLED TO THE SHOULDER, THE CAR BEGAN SMOKING. SMOKE QUICKLY FILLED THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. BEFORE I COULD ROLL ALL THE WINDOWS DOWN, THE ENGINE HAD BURST INTO FLAMES.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.*LN*JB*DT*JB Thermostat and engine coolant temperature sensor needs to be replaced.
MARCH OF 2018 ENGINE STARTING TICKING, TOOK IT IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT IT. GOT IT BACK THE NEXT DAY, THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR TICKING AND IT WAS NORMAL. NOVEMBER OF 2018 TOOK MY CAR BACK IN FOR TIRE, TOLD THEM ABOUT THE TICKING AGAIN AND SAID IT WASN'T THE ALTERNATOR, SOMETHING IN THE ENGINE IS TICKING AND NOW IT IDLES ROUGH. THE PUT NEW TIRES ON IT DID A 60,000 MILE ENGINE PERFORMANCE (I ONLY HAD 50,000 MILES ON IT) FEBRUARY 2019, I WAS GETTING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND IT STARTED SHAKING, THE RPM'S JUMPED TO 5 AND BACK DOWN TO 2 THEM BACK UP TO 5 OR 6 AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MAINTAIN SPEED. TOOK THE CAR TO BRONDE'S FORD, THEY TOLD ME I BLEW THE ENGINE. PAID TO HAVE THE SHORT BLOCK REPLACED, GOT THE CAR BACK 2 WEEKS LATER, NO MORE TICKING. DROVE MY CAR FOR 4 WEEKS AND ON MY WAY TO WORK ON US223, 55MPH, MY CAR STARTED VIBRATING AGAIN AND MY ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING. I TURNED AROUND, TOOK THE CAR BACK TO BRONDE'S AGAIN. THEY HAD THE CAR FOR 4 WEEKS THIS TIME. REPLACED THE SHORT BLOCK AND HEAD GASKET AGAIN. BOTH TIMES IT WAS CYLINDER 4 IN MY ENGINE. THIS TIME I HAD MY CAR FOR 13 DAYS. I WAS GETTING ON THE EXPRESSWAY 23 NORTH AND BARELY GOT GOING AND THE CAR DID A LITTLE HESITATION. I LOOKED OVER AT THE PANEL AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING AGAIN. I PULLED OFF THE VERY NEXT EXIT AND THE CAR WAS SMOKING SO BAD, I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO CATCH ON FIRE. PULLED OFF AND CALLED BRONDE'S TO SEND A TOW TRUCK. I COULD SMELL A SWEET SMELL AND KNOW I BLEW A HEAD GASKET AGAIN. BRONDE'S SENT A CAR HAULER AND LOADED IT UP. HE TURNED THE KEY AND IT READ ENGINE FAILURE FAILURE FAILURE. IN 14 1/2 WEEKS I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN 3X FOR A BLOWN ENGINE. I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THIS CAR AND IT IS JUNK.
ON FEB 22 2019 I WAS DRIVING GO WORK ON A SMALL HILL. I LOST ALL POWER THE RPMS SHOT UP AND THE SUV SLOWED DOWN.I MADE IT TO FLAT GROUND AND THE SUV STOPPED. I PUT THE SUV IN PARK FOR A COUPLE SECONDS THEN I PUT IT BACK IN DRIVE IT WOULDN'T MOVE SO I PUT IT IN REVERSE IT STILL WOULDN'T MOVE I PUT IT BACK IN PARK AND TURNED OFF. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES TURNED IT ON IT MOVED ENOUGH FOR ME TO PARK IT AT A GAS STATION.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 58,000.
ON MY WAY TO WORK THIS MORNING I WAS IN MOTION WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN ALL THE LIGHTS IN MY CAR CAME ON A MESSAGE CAME UP THAT SAID SERVICE ENGINE NOW THE CAR WOULD NOT GO AT ALL AS I TURNED OFF OF THE HIGHWAY ONTO A CITY STREET I NOTICED THE CAR SMOKING I GOT OUT TO LOOKIF THERE WAS FIRE THERE WAS I GOT MY 3 CHILDREN OUT OF THE BACKSEAT AND GOT AWAY FROM THE CAR I WATCHED AS MY CAR BURNT TO THE GROUND.
SON WAS DRIVING CAR ON LOCAL ROADS WHEN POWER STEERING FAILED. HE WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAIT FOR TOW TRUCK. CAR WAS DELIVERED TO SHEEHY FORD DEALER IN GAITHERSBURG, MD. RECEIVED CALL TODAY THAT THE RACK AND PINION STEERING ON THE CAR, WITH FEWER THAN 75,000 MILES, "BURNED OUT" AND RELATED REPAIRS RUN $2,400+. MY BRIEF RESEARCH OF THE MATTER SUGGESTS THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER ISSUE AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY FORD AND THE DEALERSHIP AS IF IT WERE A RECALL. IT APPEARS THAT FORD HAS CAPITULATED IN SOME INSTANCES AND INSTRUCTED DEALER TO REPAIR AT NO COST. HOW DO I COMPEL THE MANUFACTURER TO DO THE SAME FOR ME?
THE SNOW CAKES ON THE OUTER WHEEL WELL FELT AND NOW THE FELT HAS BROKEN FROM THE CLIPS THE SENSORLIGHT COMES ON THE FELT KEEPS THE SNOW FROM COMING OFF SO IT BUILDS UP IN JUST A BLOCK WAS TOLD IT WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED CAN'T PREVENT THE SNOW FROM CAKING ON THE FELT AND SETTING OFF THE SENSOR CAN'T KEEP REPLACING THESE FELT WHEEL WELL IT SHOULD BE A RECALL
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE STEERING WHEEL FROZE UP AND WOULD NOT TURN UNLESS USING TREMENDOUS FORCE. I WAS LUCKY NOT TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR ONLY HAS 56-58K MILES AND IS NOT THAT OLD. I WAS NOW CHARGED BY FORD ALMOST $2,000 TO REPLACE THE STEERING SYSTEM. I HAVE READ ABT THIS FROM OTHER OWNERS ON-LINE, BUT THERE SEEMS NOT TO BE A RECALL FOR SOMETHING THAT CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE AN DEADLY ACCIDENT.
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND THE POWER STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE IT WAS PARKED IN A PARKING STRUCTURE. I COULD BARELY TURN IT TO GET IT OUT OF THE STRUCTURE THEN I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO SAID IT WOULD COST $2000 TO REPAIR. THERE ARE RECALLS FOR OLDER MODELS BUT NOT 2014. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED WHILE PARKED AND NOT WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD. VERY UNSAFE. I DON'T EXPECT SUCH EXPENSIVE REPAIRS FROM A CAR THIS AGE.

THE VEHICLE HAS 109K MILES ON IT AND IS CONSUMING TOO MUCH COOLANT. IT HAS UNDERGONE PRESSURE TESTING AND THERE ARE NO LEAKS OR CRACKS IN THE RADIATOR. THE ONLY SOLUTION THE MECHANICS CAN THINK OF IS THAT THIS MAY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE 2013 MODELS WITH COOLANT CONSUMPTION PROBLEMS. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN THE PAST THREE MONTHS. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE ENGINE COOLANT LOW APPEARS ON THE DASH. WHEN IT APPEARS THE COOLANT IS IN FACT LOW AND EACH OF THE THREE TIMES IT HAS BEEN REFILLED. IT CAN USUALLY GO ANOTHER 1,000 MILES AND THEN COOLANT HAS DISAPPEARED AGAIN.

"TAKATA RECALL". MY VEHICLE HAS LOST 2 TANKS OF ANTIFREEZE IN 3 MONTHS. IT IS NOT LEAKING ONTO THE GROUND, BECAUSE THERE ARE NO DRIPS OR PUDDLES EVER VISIBLE UNDER THE VEHICLE. OTHER 2014 FORD ESCAPES WERE RECALLED FOR THIS SAME THING, WHICH COULD ULTIMATELY CAUSE A FIRE. MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BUT IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE, AND DEALERSHIPS WON'T FIX IT AS A RECALL. MUST MY VEHICLE CATCH ON FIRE BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE!!

THE MECHANIC INDICATED THAT A LEAK IN THE TOP HOSE WAS THE ISSUE AND THAT THERE WAS A REDESIGN OF A KNOWN ISSUE.LUCKY THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP.

THIS CAR HAS HAD 13 RECALLS SINCE MANUFACTURED FOR DIFFERENT MECHANICAL AND SAFETY ISSUES SOME EVEN RESULTING IN SPONTANEOUS ERUPTION OF FIRE TO THE ENGINE BAY. WHILE REPLACING MY BATTERY THE DELEARAHIP NOTIFIED ME OF SEVERAL RECALLS THAT REQUIRED ATTENTION, SO I HAD THEM REPLACE EACH ITEM THAT HAD BEEN RECALLED, ONE OF WHICH WAS A SENSOR WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HAVE IT REPLACED SUBSEQUENTLY, MAYBE 6 MONTHS LATER I HAD DRIVING ISSUES WHILE OPERATING IT ON THE EXPRESSWAY. THE VEHICLE WOULD GO IN AND OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING AND I COULD NOT CONTROL THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE. THIS OCCURRED THE ENTIRE DRIVE HOME TO THE POINT WHERE I HAD TO DRIVE WITH HAZARD LIGHTS ON SO THAT I WOULD NOT GET REAR ENDED FOR HAVING INTERMITTENT SPEED/DRIVING ISSUES. THE CAR WOULD LITERALLY OVER REV THE THE ENGINE AS IF I WAS FLOORING THE PEDAL WHEN I WASN'T EVEN TOUCH THE GAS AT ALL. THE SENSOR LITERALLY TOOK CONTROL OF THE ENGINE AS IF IT WAS DRIVING ITSELF. I DIDN'T DRIVE IT UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING THEN THE NEXT DAY, THE ONLY WAY TO DRIVE IT WAS IF I SLOWLY TRANSITIONED SPEEDS. I HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO HAVE THE SAME SENSOR REPLACED. AFTER REPLACING THE SENSOR IT STILLS SEEMS TO NEED TO BE DRIVEN SLOWER THAN WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT OR IT MIGHT BREAK AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH MY DAUGHTER IN IT DUE TO THE FACT THAT I MIGHT HAVE MECHANICAL ISSUES WHILE DRIVING AGAIN & BE ON THE HIGHWAY TO HAVE A HIGH SPEED COLLISION WITH A TODDLER WOULD KILL ONE OR BOTH OF US. THIS MODEL IN PARTICULAR HAS HAD MORE RECALLS THAN ANY CAR I'VE EVER HAD OR EVEN HEARD OF HAVING. I HAVE TO CONTINUE MAKING PAYMENTS ON IT DUE TO MY NEGATIVE EQUITY YET IT ISN'T RELIABLE ENOUGH TO GET ME TO WORK EVERYDAY. FORD NEEDS TO REPLACE THIS MODEL FOR ALL OWNERS.
ENGINE FIRE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY THE CAR ENGINE STOPPED AND I COASTED TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. I MADE PHONE CALLS FOR HELP AND ASSISTANCE. THE NYSDOT, HIGHWAY EMERGENCY LOCAL PATROL (HELP) TRUCK PULLED AFTER ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES AFTER STOPPING. THE HELP OPERATOR LOOKED INSIDE THE ENGINE AND SAW THAT THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS LOW AND OFFERED TO PUT SOME COOLANT IN MY VEHICLE FROM A SUPPLY IN HIS TRUCK. THEN HE HAD ME RUN THE ENGINE IN IDLE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR SEEMED TO RUN FINE. IN AN EFFORT TO GET THE CAR OFF OF THE HIGHWAY AND TO GET SOME MORE COOLANT, I DROVE THE CAR TO THE PARKING LOT OF A LOCAL STORE APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MILES. WHEN I PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT, THE CAR WAS STEAMING UP AGAIN SO I PARKED IT OUT A WAYS FROM THE STORE. I NOTICED THAT THE SMOKE WAS A BIT BLACK AND THICK, SO I OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW THE PLASTIC ENGINE COVER WAS ON FIRE. I STARTED THROWING SNOW ON IT WHEN SOMEONE CAME BY WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER, SO I USED IT TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. A TOW TRUCK DRIVER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE CLOSEST FORD DEALER ABOUT 1 MILE FROM THE PARKING LOT.
MY CAR LOST POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF ROAD GOING 40 MPH. ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. ACCELERATOR TO FLOOR. NO RPMS. HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES NOW. IT IS AT DEALER. THEY ARE TAKING APART TRANSMISSION. A VERY DANGEROUS CAR I NO LONGER WANT.
