POSTING DATE: JULY-29, 2018 (SUNDAY) VEHICLE : 2014 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM 4X4 (4-CYLINDER TURBO ENGINE, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) VEHICLE LOSES TRANSMISSION POWER. THREE WEEKS AGO I CAME OUT OF A FREEWAY AND TRIED TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN ON A FAST MOVING LOCAL ROAD. I MADE THE TURN AND PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. THE ENGINE REVVED UP BUT THERE WAS NO MOTION. I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY TURN ON THE HAZARD FLASH LIGHTS TO WARN APPROACHING VEHICLES BEHIND. FINALLY I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR "SLOWLY" AND THE CAR DID MOVE AND PICK UP SPEED. THERE WERE NO FURTHER ISSUES THAT DAY. I HAD SENSED "BUMPY GEAR SHIFTS" AND "JERKY ACCELERATIONS" EVEN BEFORE THE ABOVE INCIDENT. I INSTINCTIVELY "KNEW" THAT THINGS WERE NOT RIGHT BUT DID NOT KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS. TWO DAYS AGO MY WIFE CALLED ME AT WORK AND SAID THAT AFTER BACKING OUT FROM THE GARAGE, THE CAR WAS NOT PICKING UP SPEED. THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT HAD ALSO COME UP. SHE SOMEHOW LIMPED SLOWLY BACK INTO THE GARAGE. WHEN I RETURNED HOME, I TRIED IT TOO. I FOUND THAT ONLY THE "REAR DRIVE" WAS WORKING. THE "FORWARD DRIVE" HARDLY WORKED. OFTEN WHILE IN "DRIVE" MODE, THE CAR ROLLED BACKWARDS ON OUR MILDLY SLOPED DRIVEWAY! USING "THE LOWEST GEAR" I SOMEHOW PUT IT BACK INTO THE GARAGE. YESTERDAY I GOT IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. BEING A SATURDAY, THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING MORE. THEY SAID THEY WILL LOOK INTO IT TOMORROW (MONDAY). I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I AM LUCKY THAT I DID NOT LOSE COMPLETE POWER ON THE FREEWAY AND NOTHING BAD HAS HAPPENED SO FAR TO ME OR MY WIFE. READING ABOUT OTHERS' EXPERIENCES ON THE INTERNET ON THE SAME MODEL YEAR VEHICLE, IT SEEMS THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE FACED MUCH MORE DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM SERIOUSLY AND NOTIFY THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER.
OUR 2014 FORD ESCAPE WAS INVOLVED WITH A FRONT SIDE CRASH. DRIVER ACCIDENTLY PULLED OUT ON A CITY STREET IN FRONT OF ANOTHER CAR AND WAS HIT. THE WHOLE FRONT END WAS DESTROYED. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS ENGAGED. OUR VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT AIR BAGS WERE IN OUR VEHICLE, BUT THEY DIDN'T WORK.
2014 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO POWER STEERING FAILURE. *LD THE CONSUMER REQUESTED FOR THE MANUFACTURER TO REIMBURSE THE REPAIR COST. *JS *JS
2014 FORD ESCAPE 4X2 OVERFLOW COOLANT TANK CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK. 230,000 CARS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED BY FORD BUT THEY WILL NOT REPAIR MINE WITHOUT A $230+COST. FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON MY SERIAL NUMBER IS NOT COVERED. LACK OF COOLANT LEADS TO OVERHEATING AND CRACKED HEAD GASKET. THE CAR DID REDUCE POWER AND SOUND A PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY WARNING ON 2 OCCASIONS. THE CAR HAS 55,000 MILES.
MY CAR, A 2014 FORD ESCAPE [XXX], IS SUBJECT TO RECALL FOR SHIFTER PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF 'PARK' ON JULY 22 , 2018 AT THE CHURCH PARKING LOT WHILE IN MOTION AND IT NEEDED TO BE TOWED SINCE IT TURNED OFF AND WOULDN'T TURN ON. I HAD THE CAR TAKEN TO THE DEALER, GALPIN FORD IN VAN NUYS, CA AND DISCUSSED THIS WITH [XXX], AND [XXX] THE SERVICE MANAGER. HE SAID THAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE SHIFTER CABLE BUSHINGS IN WHICH THERES A RECALL FOR. HE ADVISED ME THAT THAT REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THE RECALL ARE NOT YET AVAILABLE. HE SAID THAT THEY CAN DO A TEMPORARY FIX OF THE SHIFTER CABLE, BUT THAT I NEED TO PAY $600 FOR THAT TEMPORARY REPAIR WHICH HE ADVISED IS NECESSARY TO MAKE THE CAR OPERATIVE UNTIL THE PARTS ARRIVE. IN MY DISCUSSION WITH FORD CHAT EARLIER TODAY, CARISSHA ADVISED ME THAT A RECALL REPAIR LIKE THIS SHOULD NOT INVOLVE A COST TO ME. THE PROBLEM OF THE ABSENCE OF REPLACEMENT PARTS IS UNDERSTANDABLE, AS IT IS A RECENT RECALL. HOWEVER, BECAUSE OF THE FAILURE WHICH LED TO THE RECALL, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR A 'TEMPORARY' FIX. IF THE CONCERN OF GALPIN IS THAT FORD WILL NOT REIMBURSE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS DONE AT THIS TIME, PLEASE CONTACT LEONARD AND JOHN AND PROVIDE THEM WITH THE NECESSARY ASSURANCE. I AM UNABLE TO OPERATE MY CAR OR TO GET IT REPAIRED BECAUSE OF THIS IMPASSE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER (JOHN BLEAKLEY FORD INC, 870 HWY 6 THORNTON RD, LITHIA SPRINGS, GA) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
SHIFTER CABLE DISCONNECTED FROM TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE WAS PARK AND WOULD NOT MOVE DUE TO CABLE BEING DISCONNECTED. TOWED VEHICLE TO DEALER AND SHIFTER CABLE REPLACED TO REPAIR IT. FORD SAYS MY VEHICLE NOT COVERED UNDER CURRENT RECALL SO I WAS FORCED TO PAY FOR REPAIR. SHAME ON FORD FOR NOT TAKING CARE OF THIS PROPERLY.
I HAVE A 2014 FORD ESCAPE WITH 111,000 MILES AND WAS JUST TOLD ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CURRENT ESCAPE VEHICLES NEEDING TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENTS WITH LOW MILEAGE. I UNDERSTAND THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED, BUT FOR A TRANSMISSION TO LAST NO LONGER THAT 4 YEARS 111,000 MILES IS A DIS-SERVICE TO THE CONSUMER AND THEIR NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS MODEL. VEHICLE STARTING HESTITATING DURING ACCELERATION A FEW DAYS PRIOR TO HAVING IN LOOKED AT BUT NO ERROR CODES WERE FOUND ON THE ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION. THE DAY AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE STARTING SHIFTING ERRATICALLY AND THEN A TRANSMISSION FAULT LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP ON FRIDAY 7/20 AND WAS TOLD TODAY 7/23 THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF AROUND $5000.00. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE IN MY EYES.
I TOOK MY CAR IN TO THE DEALER DUE TO COOLANT BEING LOW. THE COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE AND MY GASKET HAD TO BE REPLACED. THERE ARE SEVERAL ARTICLES IN WHICH FORD ADMITS THERE ARE ENGINE PROBLEMS UP TO AND INCLUDING FIRE. I WAS ABLE TO MITIGATE DAMAGE BY GETTING THE CAR IN EARLY. THE DEALER CALLED FORD, I CALLED THE FORD CARES LINE AND MY CLAIM WAS DECLINED. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. I HAVE WRITTEN TO FORD, NO REPLY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING SYSTEM FAILED AND THE CLOCK WAS UNABLE TO BE READ. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL COLOR HAD CHANGED AND, EVENTUALLY, WENT BLACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FELIX SABATES FORD LINCOLN (7601 SOUTH BOULEVARD CHARLOTTE, NC 28273, (704)-224-5854) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V406000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
ENGINE STALLS. - 1.6 L. - I HAVE TAKEN THIS CAR TO THE BOB TOMES FORD DEALERSHIP IN MCKINNEY, TEXAS FOR THIS PROBLEM AT LEAST TWICE SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW AND THEY TOLD ME BOTH TIMES THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG AND THAT THE ENGINE WAS OPERATING PER SPECIFICATIONS. IT IS STILL STALLING AND REALLY SCARES ME WHEN IT DOES. IN MY OPINION IT IS UNSAFE. I NOTICED YOUR ARTICLE ABOUT THE 2013 FORD ESCAPES IN THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS. *TR
WE ADVISED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER THAT THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH DURING START UP BUT THEN TURNED NORMAL, SLIGHT SMELL OF ANTI FREEZE BUT NO OVER HEATING OR CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE GAUGE, HAD PREVIOUSLY TAKE THE CAN IN FOR THE HEAT SENSOR / LOW COOLANT RECALL, WAS TOLD TO DRIVE CAR TO DEALER. AFTER ARRIVAL AND FURTHER INSPECTION WE WERE ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE WAS WARPED, HEAD WARPED AND NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. BOTH DEALER AND FORD AND AFTER MARKET WARRANTY BLAMED US FOR DRIVING 5 MILES ON LOCAL ROADS TO DEALER AND THEREFORE THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE PROBLEM.

THE MESSAGE 'DO NOT STOP KEEP ENGINE RUNNING IN ORDER TO RUN THE HEALTH REPORT' WAS DISPLAYED AS THE VEHICLE SEIZED AND SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOB UTTER FORD-LINCOLN (2525 TEXOMA PKWY, SHERMAN, TX 75090, 903-892-3555) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 88,000.
CAR WAS PURCHASED USED IN FEB 2017 WITH 19,800 MILES ON IT. IT'S NOW 18 MONTHS AFTER WE'VE OWNED IT AND IT ONLY HAS 49,000 MILES ON IT. THE 3 OF THE 4 DOORS HAVE RUST ALONG THE BOTTOM OF EACH OF THEM, WHICH HAS COME THROUGH THE PAINT. ACCORDING TO FORD AND THE DEALER, THEY WILL ONLY FIX IT AT THEIR COST IF THE RUST HAS EATEN ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE METAL. I KNOW THE WARRANTY STATES THAT IT ONLY COVERS PERFORATED BODY PANELS, BUT AT WHAT POINT DO I KNOW IT IS PERFORATED BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. SUPER FRUSTRATING.
DUE TO COOLANT LEAK/BURNING/LEAKING INTO ENGINE I AM HAVING TO ADD COOLANT TO MY VEHICLE EVERY OTHER MONTH WHEN THE VEHICLE ALERTS ME THAT COOLANT LEVEL IS LOW. I TOOK CAR IN BACK IN 2018 WHEN THE RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE WAS CREATED. THE RECALL DID NOTHING TO FIX THE ACTUAL ISSUE OF WHERE THE COOLANT WAS GOING AND ONLY INSERTED A SENSOR IN THE SYSTEM TO NOTIFY THE DRIVER OF THE ISSUE SOONER TO HOPEFULLY PREVENT ENGINE FROM CATCHING FIRE DUE TO RUNNING TOO HOT. MY VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 55K MILES AND ENGINE IS NOT PERFORMING AS IT DID BEFORE AND I AM CONCERNED THAT COOLANT HAS DAMAGED MY ENGINE. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS SAID THAT SINCE MY VEHICLE IS 2014 MODEL YEAR THAT IT IS OUT OF ANY WARRANTY. THIS IS REALLY NOT ACCEPTABLE AS I MENTIONED THEY IDENTIFIED AN ISSUE WITH THE COOLANT BUT DIDN'T FIX IT AND ONLY PUT AN EARLY ALERT IN. PLEASE LOOK INTO AND ADVISE HOW I CAN GET THIS CORRECTED OR REPLACED. WHEN THIS HAPPENED IN 2018 THE VEHICLE SAID IT WAS RUNNING HOT AND REDUCED POWER AND I COULD ONLY DRIVE IT FOR A FEW MINS AT A TIME TO GET IT TO A DEALER TO CHECK IT OUT. THIS WAS IN JULY 2018 AND I HAVE BEEN ADDING COOLANT EVERY COUPLE OF FEW MONTHS SINCE JULY OF 2018.

THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE JUST CUT OFF ON THE ROAD.. NOW IT NOW DRIVING AT ALL..HAD TO GET IT TOAD TO THE HOUSE..I JUST HAD IT FIVE MONTHS WITH 85,000 MILES ON IT..NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON TO LET ME KNOW IT WAS A DEFECT..I ALMOST GOT HIT BY THE PERSON BEHIND ME..
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE ACTED AS THOUGH IT WAS IN NEUTRAL WHEN DRIVE WAS SELECTED. OFTEN WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. THIS HAPPENED ON 3 OCCASIONS IN A SHORT TIME FRAME (A WEEK OR SO.) THE LAST TIME IT OCCURRED IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS ON THE TRANSMISSION.
MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON THE CAR ON A TRIP AND I COULDN'T DRIVE THE CAR. IT WAS TOWED TO KOONS FORD ON MONDAY JULY 9TH AND IT WAS NOT EVEN LOOKED AT BY THURSDAY WHEN I CAME HOME FROM MY TRIP. I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO CALL THE SERVICE MAN AND HE WON'T RETURN MY CALLS.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY BATTERY TWICE IN THIS CAR ALREADY, IT CONTINUOUSLY SHOWS CORROSION ON THE BATTERY TERMINALS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS SOMETHING THAT IS CONSTANTLY PULLING ENERGY BUT THERE IS NOTHING LEFT ON AND NO ADDED EXTRAS AT ANYTIME.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (WEHR FORD, 11311 US-60 BUS, MOUNTAIN GROVE, MISSOURI 65711) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,450.
MY SON'S CAR, SAYS ENGINE OVERHEATING AND COMPLETELY DISABLES THE CARS ENGINE TO WHERE IT WILL STOP YOU MID DRIVING. SMOKE CAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE CAR. TOOK IT IN AND HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND NOTHING SHOWED UP. COOLANT LEVEL FINE AND OIL LEVEL FINE. CAR MECHANIC COULDN'T FINE ANYTHING WRONG. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO? MY SON GETS SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR TO SCHOOL AND WORK, BUT WHAT REALLY SCARY IS HE DRIVES IN 55 MILE PER HOUR ROADS TO GET TO SCHOOL AND WORK AND THE CAR ENGINE WILL HESITATE WILL HE IS DRIVING AND THEN STOP ON HIM. CARS BEHIND HIM DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON AND HUNK AT HIM. HE HAS NO SHOULDER TO PULL OVER ON THE ROADS. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH FORD, ESCAPE 2014 ENGINE OVER HEATING?????????????????????????

THE LOCAL DEALER (BOLTON FORD, 1500 E. COLLEGE ST., LAKE CHARLES, LA) WAS CONTACTED IN REFERENCE TO THE FAILURE, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED FOR THE SAME FAILURE PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V239000 (STRUCTURE) IN AUGUST OF 2017. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
FRONT WIPERS GO OFF WHEN IN OFF POSTITION ON THE STEERING WHEEL. ONCE ISSUE STARTS HAPPENING IT DEGRADES QUICKLY. IT STARTS WITH A RANDOM WIPE AND OVER A MONTHS PERIOD DEGRADES INTO THE WIPERS RANDOMLY TURNING ON AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND DIFFERENT TIME INTERVALS RANGING FROM A FEW WIPES UP TO 15 MINUTES OF UNCONTROLLABLE WIPING. SOMETIMES ONLY A SINGLE WIPER BLADE WILL TURN ON RANDOMLY THE LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT ( ONCE RESTARTING CAR BOTH WIPERS WILL GO OFF RANDOMLY AGAIN). THIS HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING ON ALL DRIVING TYPES STREET/HIGHWAY/TURNING/STATIONARY EVERYTHING. AGAIN THE WIPERS ARE IN OFF POSTITION AND NOT ENGAGED BUT WILL RANDOMLY TURN ON.
WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY ON CRUISE CONTROL. SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH. NOTICED THE RPM'S CLIMBING WHILE THE SPEED REMAINED CONSTANT. TOOK THE CAR OFF OF CRUISE CONTROL. THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. THE RPM WOULD CLIMB WHILE THE SPEED WOULD NOT. WE PULLED OFF AT THE NEAREST EXIT. SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE CAR. BASICALLY THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING WITH NO WARNING. CAR HAD 74,000 MILES WHEN THIS HAPPENED.

THE REAR SEAT BELT BUCKLES ARE STUCK UNDERNEATH THE SEATS. I WAS ABLE TO FORCE ONE UP BY REACHING MY ARM UNDERNEATH BUT THE PLASTIC IS BENT UP AND THE LATCH DOES NOT PUSH IN MAKING IT INOPERABLE. IT APPEARS THERE IS METAL PIECE ON THE EDGE OF THE SEAT CUSHION THAT KEEPS THE SEAT BELT BUCKLES FROM COMING UP TO TOP SIDE OF SEAT WHERE THEY WOULD BE ACCESSIBLE TO PASSENGERS. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS PROBLEM WAS LIKE THIS WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE OR IF IT OCCURRED WHEN THE SEATS WERE FOLDED DOWN AT SOME POINT. I ONLY DISCOVERED IT WHEN A FAMILY MEMBER WAS RIDING IN BACK SEAT AND WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE SEAT BELT LATCHES.
IN JAN 2018 I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR RECALL 17S09/NHTSA17V-209 TO HAVE THE SENSORS PUT ON. INITIALLY THE DEALER DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS, THE PART WERE PUT ON IN FEB. HOWEVER AFTER THE PARTS WERE PUT ON THE VEHICLE HAD TO GO BACK BECAUSE HE COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT LATE APRIL. THE DEALERSHIP WAS VERY NICE AT LOOKING AT AND RESOLVING THE PROBLEM. THEN IN JUNE THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THE COOLANT WAS LOW. NO SIGNS OF LEAKAGE AND I WAS HESITANT TO REPLACE SO I HAD THE DEALER CHECK. THEY DISCOVERED THE COOLANT LEAKING BACK INTO THE ENGINE. THIS WAS NOT A PROBLEM UNTIL THIS RECALL WAS DONE. I ATTEMPTED TO ESCALATE THIS THROUGH FORD CARES AND OBVIOUSLY THEY DON'T. THE ONLY RESPONSE I HAVE IS - THIS IS NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL. I AM A SINGLE MOM, IN A RENTAL AND NOW REPAIRS OF OVER 4K.
THE DRIVERS SIDE WIPER BLADE, STICKS AT TOP UP POSITION AND THEN WILL SNAP DOWN. IT WILL ALSO STOP OCCASIONALLY MID POSITION ON WAY DOWN AND OSCILLATES BEFORE COMPLETING DOWN STROKE. MAKES FOR EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS WHEN WIPER STOPS IN MIDDLE OF SITE LINE AND OSCILLATES. ISSUE HAS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AND DURING STATIONARY PARKED. BLADES ARE NEW. JUST OVER A YEAR AGO, SOME MONTHS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS JUST PURCHASE FROM THE WINNIE FORD PREOWNED LOT, THE DOOR SUDDENLY OPENED WHILE WE WERE DRIVING. TURNS OUT THERE IS AN EXISTING RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE PERTAINING TO PROBLEMATIC DOOR LATCHES. WE CONTACTED THE DEALER WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM ABOUT GETTING A FREE REPAIR DUE TO THE RECALL, BUT THE DEALER DIRECTED US TO CALL FORD INSTEAD. FORD TELLS US THAT THE RECALL ISSUE WAS ALREADY SUPPOSEDLY MADE AT SOME DEALERSHIP IN FLORIDA AND THAT WE WOULD NEED TO PAY A FULL PRICE TO REPAIR THEIR DEFECT, A PRICE THAT WE SIMPLY CANNOT AFFORD THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE IS A RETIRED 70 YEAR OLD GETTING BY WITH SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENTS). WE EVENTUALLY FIGURED OUT A WAY TO FORCE THE DOOR TO CLOSE, BUT TODAY (JULY 29, 2019) THE DOOR REOPENED ITSELF AGAIN, AND AFTER AN HOUR OF ATTEMPTS, THE DOOR REFUSES TO SHUT. THIS VEHICLE IS USED BY SEVERAL FAMILY MEMBERS TO GET TO SCHOOL, WORK, STORES, ETC. AS SUCH, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY AND SECURITY RISK FOR US AND OUR VEHICLE- THE NY TIMES REPORTED THAT THIS INCIDENT ONCE LED TO A CRASH WITH THREE INCIDENTS. I HAVE BEEN COMPELLED TO SUBMIT THIS COMPLAINT TO THE NHSTA BECAUSE FORD AND THE DEALERSHIP(S) ARE REFUSING TO TAKE ANY ACCOUNTABILITY REGARDING FIXING THEIR DEFECT (SINCE THEIR SUPPOSED INITIAL 'REPAIR' CLEARLY DID NOT WORK), AND I REQUEST THAT SOMEONE AT THE NHSTA INVESTIGATE THIS URGENT SAFETY MATTER. THE MECHANIC COULD TELL BY DRIVING IT A FEW TIMES THAT IS HAS WHAT HE CALLED THE 'TRANSMISSION SHUDDER.' IF HE KNEW WHAT IT WAS AND MENTIONED HOW COMMON IT WAS ON MY MODEL, THEN WHY IS IT NOT UNDER A RECALL? AFTER RESEARCH, I HAVE READ OTHER EXPERIENCING THE SAME COMPLAINTS.
