I WAS DRIVING MY CAR SOUTHBOUND ON I75 AND MY ENGINE BURST INTO FLAMES, LUCKY MY BROTHER WAS BEHIND ME AND COULD SEE THE FIRST UNDER THE CAR AND CALLED ME TO TELL ME TO PULL OVER AND GET OUT RIGHT AWAY. I GOT OUT AND THE CAR BURNT UP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I HAVE HEARD THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE WARNING ONLY HAPPENED WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF THE ROADWAY, PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK, AND THE "SERVICE NOW" WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CYCLE THE GEAR BETWEEN REVERSE AND DRIVE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO KLABEN FORD LINCOLN OF WARREN (LOCATED AT 3853 YOUNGSTOWN RD SE, WARREN, OH 44484, (888) 428-3823). THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,200.
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY ENGINE SUDDENLY OVERHEATED AND I WAS GIVEN AN ALARM DISPLAYING THAT ITS OVERHEATING AND STOP SAFELY. WHEN OPENING MY LID, I FOUND THE COOLANT LEVEL HAD DROPPED BELOW MINIMUM. I HAD NO WARNING THAT MY COOLANT LEVEL WAS SUDDENLY LOW AND THE CAR HAD BEEN OPERATING FINE THE PREVIOUS DAY AND EARLIER IN THE MORNING. I ADDED WATER TO THE SYSTEM AND AFTER RETURNING THE CAR TO A SAFE TEMP, DROVE IT TO A STORE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON INSTANTLY AFTER THE HEATING ISSUE. FORD HAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE INCLUDING 2014 FORD ESCAPE, HOWEVER MY VIN DOES NOT REGISTER AS BEING APPLICABLE TO THE RECALL (ALTHOUGH SEEMS LIKE IDENTICAL ISSUE.) THIS IS THE SECOND TIME BETWEEN 50-56000 MILES THIS SAME ISSUE HAS OCCURRED.
MY CAR WITH ONLY 34,000 MILES OVERHEATED DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I TAKE MY CAR FOR FOR OIL CHANGES AND SERVICE REGULARLY. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM UNTIL THIS HAPPENED. MY MECHANIC SAID I WAS LOW ON COOLANT AND AFTER FURTHER TESTING SAID I HAD A LEAK. HE THEN TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2014 FORD ESCAPES FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. FORD'S NUMBER FOR THIS RECALL IS 17S09. I CALLED MY FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT EVEN TOUGH MY CAR WAS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE MY PARTICULAR CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE CAR FIXED. THINKING THIS WAS OUTRAGEOUS I CALLED FORD DIRECTLY. THEY AS WELL TOLD ME THE SAME THING. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH I SEE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY 2014 FORD ESCAPE OWNER THAT HAS BEEN TOLD THAT ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE THIS SAME SAFETY ISSUE OUR VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I BELIEVE FURTHER INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO BE DONE AND MORE CARS INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL.
17S09 COOLING SYSTEM RECALL PERFROMED IN FEB 2018 VEHICLE HAS HAD NUMEROUS TRIPS BACK TO MULTIPLE FORD DEALERSHIPS FOLLWOING HIGH TEMPERATURE LIGHT COMING ON. THE ENGINE HAS BEEN REPLACED A HOSE REPLACED, COOLING FAN RELAY REPLACED. CURRENTLY THE CAR IS AT A DEALER WHO IS NOW SAYING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER IS THE PROBLEM BUT IS NOW ATTEMPTING TO CHARGE ME $750, THIS CAR HAD NO ISSUES PRIOR TO THE RECALL. FORD DOES NOT SEEM TO KNOW HOW TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS AND NOW I AM ABOUT TO BE ON THE HOOK FOR THEM. I SHOULD'T HAVE TO PAY TO BE THEIR GUINEA PIG. THEY HAVE LEFT MY CAR UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BLUE SPRINGS FORD (3200 NW SOUTH OUTER RD, BLUE SPRINGS, MO 64015, 816-229-4400) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK HAD FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,947.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2016. AFTER TWO MONTHS IT BEGAN SPUTTERING BEFORE STARTING, AND SOMETIMES WOULD STALL. ONCE IN GEAR AND MOVING IT WOULD RUN FINE. SECONDLY, THERE ARE TIMES WHILE DRIVING THAT THE TRANSMISSION/ ENGINE SURGES WITHOUT WARNING. DURING THE LAST WEEK, IT HAS STALLED 4 TIMES AS I WAS COASTING TO TURN CORNERS. I HAVE TO RESTART IT AND IT SEEMS TO BE OKAY AFTER THAT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND I AM CONCERNED SOMEONE IS GOING TO RUN INTO ME WHEN IT STALLS.
2014 ESCAPE RECALLED TO FIX COOLANT LEAK. 6 MONTHS LATER THE COOLANT IS LEAKING AND WARPED THE HEAD GASKET. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO FORD, THEY ARE TRYING TO DENY RESPONSIBILITY, DESPITE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DIRECTLY STATING ON MY INVOICE "ENGINE COOLANT LEAK CAUSED HEAD GASKET TO WARP." MY CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 15 DAYS AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT WORKED ON IT BECAUSE THEY ARE ARGUING WHO IS RESPONSIBLE WITH MY WARRANTY COMPANY. IT SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME POOR WORKMANSHIP. I AM NOW CONTACTING AN ATTORNEY, WITH ALL THESE CASES WE MAY HAVE A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST FORD.
ENGINE COOLANT SENSOR FAULTY . BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP 2 TIMES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GOSCH FORD HEMET (LOCATED AT 150 CARRIAGE CIR, HEMET, CA 92545, (951) 396-7250) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFT CABLE BUSHING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT ALSO REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V406000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AS A POSSIBLE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,000.
A DOZEN TIMES NOW WHEN WE START IT UP IT RUN REAL RUFF AND WILL LURCH, THE RPMS GO UP BUT NOT MPH BEING GAINED. I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN IT OFF AND RESTART AND IT RUNS FINE. WE GET A MESSAGE THAT READS "ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW". WHEN WE TAKE IT TO THE DEALER THEY CAN'T FINE ANY ERRORS ON WHEN THEY HOOK IT UP TO THEIR COMPUTER. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WITHIN THE LAST WEEK AND OVER THE ALMOST 4 YEARS I'VE OWNED THE CAR. I WAS DRIVING IT ON A CITY STREET AND HAD JUST BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY, OTHER TIMES IT'S HAPPENED HAS BEEN ON CITY STREETS SHORTLY AFTER PULLING FORWARD, AND THOSE TIMES I HAD NOT BACKED UP AT ALL PRIOR TO IT DOING IT. THIS MORNING WHEN IT HAPPENED I ALMOST HAD SOMEONE REAR-END ME BECAUSE MY CAR WOULD NOT GET ABOVE 5MPH. I HAD DRIVEN ABOUT A BLOCK FROM MY HOME BEFORE THE ERROR MESSAGE CAME ON AND WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER. THANKFULLY I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY YET.
THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING AFTER A LEAK RECALL WAS MADE. WE TOOK THE CAR AND HAD THE NECESSARY RECALL DONE. HOWEVER THE ENGINE STALLED THE CAR AND NOW WE HAVE TO SHELL OUT $6,000 FOR A NEW ENGINE DUE TO A CRACKED BLOCK. SINCE WE ALREADY TOOK THE CAR TO GET A LEAK RECALL ISSUE FIXED, WE ARE AFRAID THE NEW ENGINE WILL GET OVERHEATED AGAIN AND THE CAR WILL STALL. ALSO, WE WOULD HAVE TO SHELL OUT MORE MONEY FOR ANOTHER ENGINE.
THE NUT CONNECTING THE BATTERY CABLE TO THE SOLENOID WAS CROSS THREADED AT THE FACTORY CAUSING THE VEHICLE NOT TO START.I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD DOES NOT AGREE.
VEHICLE ERRATICALLY DISPLAYS OVERHEATING VISUAL AND AUDIBLE ALARM DURING MOTION OR STATIONARY. AFTER VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS, ALARMS GO OFF AND TEMPERATURE GAGE RETURNS TO NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON FOR A WHILE, THEN OFF, THEN BACK ON. DROVE TO FORD DEALER FOR SERVICE (DIDN'T NOTICE ANY PERFORMANCE ISSUES), AND THEY STATE THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, BECAUSE OF A CRACK IN THE COOLANT RESEVOIR, AND COOLANT IS GETTING INTO CYLINDER #3. I DON'T KNOW HOW THESE ARE RELATED. I HAVE NEVER NOTICED A COOLANT LEAK OR STEAM/SMOKE IN THE EXHAUST.
STOPPED AT RED LIGHT, VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS- TRANSMISSION WENT BAD WITHOUT WARNING. SEE ATTACHED RECEIPT FOR WORK PERFORMED
DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY GOING 65 MPH IN VIRGINIA I THE LEFT LANE HEARD A BANG AND THE CAR SUDDENLY JERKED THE THE RIGHT AND INTO THE NEXT LANE OVER. STOPPED THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY AND FOUND THAT THE REAR RIGHT LOWER SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM BROKE. THE CAR WAS STUCK AND HAD TO BE TOWED FROM THE MIDDLE OF FREEWAY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WAYNE FORD (444 US-46, WAYNE, NJ 07470) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT INGESTED COOLANT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOUND A DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE FOR THE CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE AND STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A BLOWN HEADGASKET. MIRACLE FORD (1394 NASHVILLE PIKE, GALLATIN, TENNESSEE 37066, (615) 452-5267) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. IN ADDITION, THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR SERVICE WARRANTY PROGRAMS ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,571.
TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY. ENGINE IS MAKING RATTLING NOISE WHEN RUNNING.
MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO EXHIBIT SIGNS OF A FAILING TRANSMISSION AT 60,000 MILES. SHIFTING WAS DIFFICULT, PARTICULARLY BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. A FEW TIMES, IT FAILED TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO REVERSE AT ALL. I HAD FORD LOOK AT IT, AND THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN I TOOK IT IN, I WAS AROUND 60,500 MILES, 500 MILES OVER MY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THEY QUOTED A $7,000 FIX. I HAD OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR LESS THAN 2 YEARS, AND IT WAS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD. WHILE I HAD RECORDS, INCLUDING A CLAIM NUMBER, FOR ANOTHER FORD CUSTOMER WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION (IN THE FUSION) AND SAME ISSUES, THEY COVERED 2/3 OF THAT CUSTOMER'S REPAIR AND REFUSED TO COVER A DIME OF MINE. AFTER BEING DISMISSED, IGNORED, AND ULTIMATELY PLACATED SEVERAL TIMES BY FORD REPRESENTATIVES, I FINALLY WAS FORCED TO TAKE IT TO A THIRD-PARTY MECHANIC, WHO REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION AT 61,000 MILES FOR $4,000. DESPITE HAVING A REFURBISHED TRANSMISSION IN MY VEHICLE NOW, I STILL EXPERIENCE TRANSMISSION ISSUES FROM TIME TO TIME (DIFFICULTY SHIFTING, HARD SHIFTING ON FREEWAY, ETC.). IN THE END, THIS TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY AT BEST, AS FORD'S ONLY TRANSMISSION MODEL WITHOUT A RECALL *YET*. WHILE FORD INDICATES THEY HAVE NO OFFICIAL DOCUMENTED ISSUES WITH THE 6F35 TRANSMISSION, A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALS THAT TRANSMISSION FAILURE IS THE #1 ISSUE REPORTED BY CONSUMERS WITH THE FORD ESCAPE. AS A YOUNG PROFESSIONAL WORKING IN RESEARCH, I RECOGNIZE THAT INTERNET SEARCHES CAN BE MISLEADING. TO BE THOROUGH, I CHECKED OVER 20 DIFFERENT FORD CONSUMER PAGES AND OF THOSE PAGES, EVERY SINGLE ONE SHOWED A SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER REPORT OF TRANSMISSION ISSUES THAN ANY OTHER ISSUE, WITH THE AVERAGE MILEAGE OF THESE ISSUES OCCURRING AROUND 50,000 ' 70,000 MILES. IT IRRESPONSIBLE AND UNACCEPTABLE FOR FORD TO HAVE NO OFFICIAL DOCUMENTED ISSUES ON FILE REGARDING THE 6F35 TRANSMISSION.
STEERING RACK BOUND AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT STEER. AFTER LETTING IT SIT THE WARNING LIGHTS DID NOT COME BACK ON AND THE CAR STEERED. DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS ELECTRONIC STEERING AND THE STEERING RACK IS BAD. NO WARRANTY AT 45000 MILES.THIS HAPPENED ON INTERSTATE 95 IN NORTH CAROLINA.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM FAULT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HENNESSY FORD LINCOLN ATLANTA (5675 PEACHTREE INDUSTRIAL BLVD, ATLANTA, GA 30341) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT "PULL WHILE HOT". THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,622. *TT*JB
I STARTED MY VEHICLE, REVERSED THEN PUT IT INTO DRIVE. A WARNING SENSOR POPPED UP STATING STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE. I PUT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND RESTARTED IT. THE WARNING SENSOR NO LONGER APPEARED. I RESEARCHED THIS HAPPENING TO THE SAME VEHICLE MODEL AND IT SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE FORD ESCAPE. SEEMS DANGEROUS TO NOT HAVE A FACTORY RECALL ALREADY , WHAT IF I WERE DRIVING DOWN A BUSY STREET OR HIGHWAY.
2 ACTIVE RECALLS-NO TIMEFRAME OF WHEN IT WILL BE REMEDIED. ADDITIONALLY, VEHICLE DIES WHEN PUT INTO D FROM R. VEHICLE HAS 52K MILES, WELL MAINTAINED, SHELL FUEL IS USED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN BACKING UP AND PUTTING INTO DRIVE. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.

THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND SCHEDULED THE VEHICLE TO BE TOWED TO PREMIER FORD INC (5001 GLENWOOD RD, BROOKLYN, NY 11234, 888-381-4515) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THEY WERE UNAWARE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS BEING TOWED. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. MEANWHILE, THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V471000 (POWER TRAIN); HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 26,000.
SHIFTER CABLE BUSHINGS. 2014 FORD ESCAPE. NHTSA RECALL # 18V471. FORD RECALL # 18S20. GEAR SHIFTER MOVES TO PARK, BUT DOES NOT REGISTER ON DRIVERS CONSOLE. CANNOT START CAR CAR DRIFTS WITHOUT EMERGENCY BRAKE APPLIED. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED IT WAS THE RECALL ISSUE, BUT SINCE FORD HAS NOT ISSUED THE PARTS YET THERE ARE MAKING ME PAY FOR THE REPAIR UNTIL FORD SENDS OUT A LETTER INFORMING CONSUMERS THAT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. I SPOKE WITH FORD THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO KEEP THE REPAIR INVOICE AND GET REIMBURSED WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. MY QUESTION IS, IF THE DEALER CAN FIX IT, WHY CAN'T FORD AUTHORIZE PAYMENT, SO I DO NOT HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. IF FORD ISSUED A RECALL AND PEOPLE ARE ALREADY HAVING AN ISSUE WHY DON'T THEY JUST PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED. THE DEALER WANTS $1000 TO FIX THIS. FORD SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS.
ON AUGUST 22, 2018, I WAS DRIVING AND THE ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT BLANK. I DROVE TO WORLD FORD IN PENSACOLA, FL AND WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD NEED TO RETURN THE FOLLOWING DAY BECAUSE THEY WERE TOO BUSY TO CHECK OUT MY PROBLEM. I RETURNED THE FOLLOWING DAY AT MY APPOINTMENT TIME, AND AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT PANEL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $1,600.00. I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP TO DO SOME RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM. I DISCOVERED THAT FORD HAD ISSUED A RECALL #15V406000 ON JUNE 24, 2015 FOR SOME 2014 FORD ESCAPES. WHEN I CALLED ABOUT THIS, I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED. FORD KNEW THAT THERE WAS A SOFTWARE INCOMPATIBILITY ISSUE THAT WOULD CAUSE A MALFUNCTION. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD #101, "CONTROL AND DISPLAYS". MY LIFE IS AT RISK BY DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WITH AN INOPERATIVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. WHY IS IT, THAT FORD FIXED THE PROBLEM IN SOME 2014 ESCAPES, BUT NOT ALL. WHY IS IT OKAY THAT THEY ARE ALLOWED TO PLACE MY LIFE IN DANGER??? I THINK THAT FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO REPLACE ALL FAULTY INSTRUMENT PANELS, NOT JUST SOME OF THEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V471000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE RECALL PART WAS UNAVAILABLE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT WAS THEN REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 81,910. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

WHILE DRIVING 'LOW COOLANT' LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON, CHECKED COOLANT WHICH WAS VERY LOW, FILLED AND TOOK TO DEALER LESS THAN 2 MILES AWAY. VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED ON THE LAST COOLANT LEAK RECALL ALTHOUGH VERY SIMILAR ISSUE AND BUILT DURING THE SAME TIME PERIOD AT LOUISVILLE PLANT.

PARKED MY CAR PUT IT IN PARK BUT WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF BRAKE AND STARTED OPEN THE DOOR THE CAR ROLLED FORWARD. I PUT ON THE BRAKE AND PARKING BRAKE BUT SHIFTER WAS FROZE IN PLACE. CONTACTED LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND FORD CORP BOTH SAID THERE AREN'T ANY PARTS TO FIX CAR AND DIDN'T OFFER A LOANER. LOCAL FORD SHOWED ME HOW TO PUT BUSHING BACK ON PEG SO CAR COULD BE DRIVEN. I'M 63 YEAR OLD WOMAN CAR REPAIR NOT MY WHEELHOUSE. I FEEL CAR IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULDN'T BE DRIVEN. FORD IS PUTTING ME AT RISK PHYSICALLY AND OPEN TO ACCIDENTS AND LAWSUITS BY NOT OFFERING A REPAIR OR A LOANER CAR.
ON 13 AUGUST 2018 MY FIANCE WAS DRIVING TO OUR NEW HOME WE'RE BUYING WHEN SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I TOLD HER TO PULL OVER AND GRAB HER PURSE AND GET AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. BY NOW FLAMES WERE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. LUCKILY SHE HAD CRACKED OPEN THE DOOR BEFORE STOPPING BECAUSE BEFORE SHE STOPPED ALL THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED AND COULD NOT BE OPENED. I HAD ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AND THE CARS FRONT END HAD VIRTUALLY MELTED WITHIN 5 MINUTES. IF MY FIANCE HAD NOT CRACKED OPENED THE DOOR SHE MOST ASSUREDLY WOULD HAVE BURNED TO DEATH. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING I WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE HAD A DIFFICULT TIME ESCAPING AS I AM A DISABLED VETERAN WITH SEVERAL MOBILITY PROBLEMS. OUR CAR WAS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD WITH ONLY 64000 MILES ON IT. WE NEVER EXPECTED WE MIGHT POSSIBLY BE INJURED OR DIE FROM A NEWER VEHICLE. THE CAR HAS BEEN LIKE THIS SINCE SINCE 8/11 AND PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL ON 8/13 THAT THIS ISSUE IS AN ACTUAL RECALL AND WHEN WE CALLED LOCAL FORD DEALER, THEY INFORMED US THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL HAVE THE PART TO FIX OUR CAR! SHIFTER CABLE BROKE. WE WERE UNABLE TO SHIFT TRANSMISSION AFTER PULLING VEHICLE IN PARKING SPOT. WE HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO REPAIR FACILITY AND HAVE SHIFTER CABLE REPLACED AT A COSTS OF $526.40. WE ALSO HAVE ANOTHER OUTSTANDING COMPLAINT FILED FOR WIRING HARNESS BEING TOO SHORT AND WE HAD TO PAY FOR NEW SPLICES THAT OUR VIN WAS NOT COVERED BY A CURRENT RECALL. WE ASK THAT NHTSA LOOKING INTO THE STATUS OF THAT COMPLAINT FOR OUR REFUND AS WELL AS THIS ONE THAT THERE AGAIN APPEARS TO BE A CURRENT RECALL FOR, JUST NOT FOR OUR VIN.
2014 FORD ESCAPE AT APPROXIMATELY 51,XXX MILES EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS PURCHASED FROM. OVER A WEEK LATER, THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE EPAS HAD FAILED. THERE ARE RECALLS ON OTHER VEHICLES FROM THIS YEAR, FORD REFUSED TO TAKE COMPLETE RESPONSIBILITY WHEN WE HAD CALLED IN TO COMPLAIN. THE DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGED THERE WERE ISSUES, AND SAID THEY COULD HAVE IT FIXED THE NEXT DAY. AFTER AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM FORD, TWO DAYS LATER, THE DEARLER WAS OUT OF RACKS TO MAKE THE REPAIR. WE DID NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE BACK UNTIL ALMOST A MONTH LATER AND OVER $600 (FORD COVERED THE REPLACEMENT RACK BUT WOULD NOT PAY LABOR). UPON INVESTIGATING, WE FOUND THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION BROUGHT UP IN CALIFORNIA THAT NEVER GAINED ENOGH MOMENTUM FOR FORD TO TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY THEY SHOULD HAVE.

2014 ESCAPE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A COOLANT LEAK. DEALER FOUND THAT THE COOLANT BYPASS SOLENOID WAS LEAKING AS WELL AS THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR WAS FAULTY. BOTH ITEMS WERE REPLACED. BILL WAS $566. FORD HAD A RECALL ON OVER 200000 ESCAPES IN THE 2013 AND SOME 2014 ESCAPES. I CALLED THE FORD COMPANY AND FOUND OUT THAT MY ESCAPE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THERE ALL. SAID TO THEM THAT OVER 200000 ESCAPES WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AND THEY SAID TO BAD THE VIN NUMBER IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST.

THE CAR WAS PARKED AT A GAS FILLING STATION TO FILL THE GAS TANK. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE THE GAS STATION, THE CAR REGISTERED BEING IN REVERSE AND WOULD NOT START. UPON EXAMINATION, IT WAS DETERMINED THE BUSHING ON THE TRANSMISSION AND WOULD NO LONGER SHIFT GEARS. IN ORDER TO MOVE THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE SHIFTED WITH ONE PERSON MANUAL HELD THE SHIFTING CABLE ONTO THE TRANSMISSION WHILE SOMEONE IN THE VEHICLE MOVED THE GEAR SHIFT. AS THE GEARS WERE SHIFTED, THE PERSON HOLDING THE CABLE IN PLACE MADE SURE THAT IT DID NOT POP OFF SO THAT IT COULD BE MOVED INTO GEAR. IF THE PERSON DID NOT HOLD THE CABLE DOWN, IT WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS. WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME AND REPEAT THE PROCESS TO GET IT INTO PARK. THE CAR IS NOT SAFELY ABLE TO BE DRIVEN IN THE CONDITION IT CURRENTLY IS.

ON 4 AUG 18, A FIRE STARTED WITHIN THE GARAGE OF [XXX]. WITNESSES STATED THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE VEHICLE (2014 FORD ESCAPE) LOCATED WITHIN THE GARAGE AND ENGULFED THE GARAGE. WITNESSES STATED THE GARAGE DOOR OPENED AND THE SMOKE POURED OUT, ONCE THEY RAN CLOSER THEY WITNESSED THE CAR'S ENGINE WAS ABLAZE AND REST OF THE CAR BURNING/SMOKING. I HAVE EXPOSED PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE PROPERTY AND THE VEHICLE INSIDE THE GARAGE. I HAVE ABOUT 600 PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN IN DETAIL. THEY WILL GIVE AN OVERALL DEPICTION OF THE HOME AND WILL PROVIDE ALL FOR THIS CLAIM. I INITIATED FORD CAS [XXX] ON 20 AUG 18. I STRESSED EXPEDITION IS IMPORTANT DUE TO STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE SCENE. I HEARD BACK FROM FORD DECLINING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE INITIAL INVESTIGATION AND WAS INFORMED TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY'S INVESTIGATORS. I HAVE THE REPORT FOR YOUR REVIEW. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN MOVED FROM THE SCENE AND NOW SITS IN A SALVAGE YARD, WRAPPED TO PRESERVE IT FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE HOME IN NOW BEING REBUILT AND COULD NOT WAIT 90 DAYS FOR FORD TO DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT THEY WANT TO COME LOOK AT IT.
