I'm having to fill my reservoir with coolant. There is an indicator on dashboard that states coolant low. I can't see any visible leaks under the hood or on the ground. I am not sure if the 2015 ford escapes are apart of a recall like the 2014 escapes. The lack of coolant circulation could cause the engine to overheat and experience a crack in the cylinder head. A cracked head can cause pressurized oil leaks, oil that can leak onto hot engines. There had been reported fires.
Stalls randomly, usually after idling for a period of time. Have changed throttle body and perge valve , was an issue on older models but no recall for the 15 and up for a harness issue
While driving I hear a pump sound and my car will die , I stop traffic all behind me until I can get it started again
Coolant leaked into cylinder 3 and caused engine failure. Vehicle towed to Price Ford dealership where they investigated and said vehicle would need new engine $8854.83. Date 3/2/2022 mileage 53182. Check engine light on rough running.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the rear-view camera intermittently failed to operate as needed. The contact stated that the message "Camera Unavailable" was displayed on the instrument panel, or there was a blank or distorted image on the screen. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V695000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was able to drive to her residence. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the torque converter needed to be replaced; however, the parts were not available. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
I was on my way to work, going about 40 mph, when all of the sudden my car slipped out of gear and a service transmission light came on. I pulled off the road and put the car in park, after that I tried to put the car and drive and it would only go in reverse. There were no warning lights or problems prior to this incident. I had the car towed to my home.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated during acceleration and then lost motive power. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the transmission. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
My wife was driving the vehicle and without warning, the vehicle lost power to the drivetrain. Engine was running fine without issue but upon pressing the accelerator, the engine revved but no movement. No warning or noise from the transmission of a pending issue. Proper regular maintenance has been done on the vehicle since ownership on time. Vehicle had to be towed to a repair shop at which time it was diagnosed with failure of the transmission. My wife does a lot of highway driving so luckily it happened in the city close to home and not on the expressway.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated after removing the key from the ignition switch, the engine continued to run. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Upon investigating, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V436000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,282.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, the contact was transferred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.
The door panel falls off the door very easily and then becomes stuck. The door cannot open due to the panel catching on the floor of the car. This is dangerous to have a door that does not work. I brought my car to Ford to get this fixed and after having my car for 6 days, the next time I drove on the freeway it fell off again and has the same problem. I've seen multiple reports of this
Back up camera and block heater I’m waiting to get it fixed but the parts doesn’t come in how come
First problem- over the course of the last few years, the car intermittently gets "jumpy" when changing to/from different gears like (from reverse to drive OR drive to reverse, all after completely braking-not in the middle of gear shift). It has not completely stalled but feels very close to it. i had brought it in in the past and they had never found anything wrong with it. It does not always happen. Second problem- the rear view back up assistance has not been working properly for over 3 years. I will be in reverse and either the beeping continues even though nothing is around or, the screen goes blank and shuts off. I was told this would be at my expense, not a recall. this does not happen all the time but is very often.
Back up camera is blacking out and/or distorting more than half the time it's in use. The problem is intermittent. It's the exact same issue as already Recalled for newer Ford vehicles.
The transmission shift cable fell off the transmission shift lever in the engine compartment. The plastic bushing that holds the shift cable in place is worn out or defective. Ford has a replacement part (#DG9Z-7K340-A) and a new cover cap to protect the bushing now. Wondering why this is not a safety recall. The linkage fell off while my wife was parking the vehicle in sub-zero weather. She had the shifter in park, but the vehicle was actually in neutral or reverse. The vehicles engine could be started or stopped, would not drive, but could roll. Luckily it was on level ground when it happened. Ford has the same problem on earlier year models but not on our model year. The Ford dealer told me that there were no recalls or TSBs for my VIN model.
Transmittion went out without any warning was driving and started jumping bad and just shut down. There was transmittion fluid, and it just secede up with under 100k miles. Then shift cable broke 3 months later without any warning. Was parked changed, and I had backed into a parking spot, and car went into reverse could not get out of reverse. Put the car in park and still showed that car in reverse with the back up camera. Had to get it towed both times
The transmission shift cable bushing on my 2015 Ford Escape deteriorated and failed. The car indicates that it is in PARK but it is actually in gear and will roll freely but can not be cranked. There has been a recall for this exact same problem on the 2013 and 2014 versions of this same vehicle as well as some other Ford vehicles. Why does it not include the 2015 model year?
On 11/21/21 I went to Sam's Club to have new tires installed. They were unable to remove lug nuts on both back tires, they said the nuts were swollen. They could not proceed with tire installation. On 11/23/21 I went to Goodyear for new tire installation. They also found the lug nuts to be swollen. They were able to get them removed and complete the tire installation, with 5 lug nuts needing to be replaced at a cost of $39.95. They suggested I purchase a full set of lug nuts and get them all replaced soon. There was no warning message alerting me to this issue so I had no idea until I tried to have the car serviced. Both Sam's and Goodyear said they see this problem often on Ford vehicles. Doing some research on the internet, I see that many people have this issue with Ford.
- When pushing start, the car cranks but no start. Failed to start with new battery. - I took the car to Ford dealer maintenance shop and couldn't identify the problem and contacting Ford Engineering for further investigation. - There is no any message or warning on the dashboard and also what the maintenance shop informed me. All the lighting system is Ok, even the radio is working. - According to the mechanic, the issue is new one and not has been seen before.
Was driving down the road and the car started to sputter and shake. Was able to pull into a gas station parking lot and when I stepped on the gas nothing happened and the transmission fault light kicked on. Got parked and called a tow company to tow it to the nearest transmission shop to which they told me the transmission is shot and needs replaced.
On 11-8-2021, my transmission failed out of nowhere, there were no warning lights or noises or check engine codes or anything. When I backed out at work the vehicle shook a little and when I pulled out on to the road it hit second gear kind of hard. When I got close to the stop sign it just shut off. I started it back up and when I put it in drive it shut off again. It did this 3 times before I could get it off the road. I had it towed home and started it up and attempted to put it in gear again it shook hard and shut off again. The last drivability/performance check was 6/18/2020 at 112,560 miles done by Summerville Ford. My vehicle is available upon request for inspection. Mine and others safety was put at risk by the vehicle not working properly, on a very busy highway. Although there was not a crash, there very well could have been. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center nor has it been inspected by anyone other then my husband and myself. The problem first appeared that afternoon, I have only owned the vehicle since May 2021, I haven't even gotten to my first oil change. I bought it from Berkeley Ford in Moncks Corner SC.
The vehicles rear view camera works intermitantly - sometimes it is blank, or upside down and sometimes it works - as I saw they are recalling 2019 models with the issue I think my 2015 model has the same issue. Please issue a recall on this model aswell thank you
There was a recall for 203-2014 Ford Escapes (18S20) for the bushing on the shifter cable breaking and requiring repair. However our vehicle is a 2015 Escape and we were told it was not covered by the recall although we experienced a similar issue. Upon putting the vehicle in reverse the gearbox stuck in reverse and was not able to shift to neutral, drive, or any other gear. Since the vehicle was stuck in gear and not able to move until the tow truck arrived it put others at risk. We had the car towed to Merrill Ford in Okemos Michigan where they confirmed the bushing failed however due to Ford's protocol they had to replace the entire shifter cable at an estimated price of $950. I did some investigation and found another cable and requested the dealer remove the bushing from the new cable and install it on the vehicle. I could have purchased just the bushing however the dealership advised against it. In addition, the shifter cable was not available for approximately another week since 1,400 were on backorder which makes me believe this is a bigger problem than just our vehicle. There were no prior warnings to the bushing failure. Although the dealership knew there was an alternative solution of only replacing the bushing they originally refused to do it. I find this practice of not replacing the failed part (bushing) negligent and trying to create more revenue for Ford and the dealership.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, white smoke came out of the exhaust tip. The contact was able to pull over and had the vehicle towed to a local mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing the head gasket replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated cylinder #3 misfire warning message was displayed. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 142,000.
The instrument panel on my vehicle, where the speed and fuel level and other important informational messages and displays are, have lines spreading horizonatally blocking information and the lighting is completely dimmed. The panel where the backup camera displays has the same lines running horizontally and dimmed . It is unsafe for me to drive my vehicle if I don't know the speed and other important information displayed. I called Ford company and was told that this particular VIN did not have a recall therefore it is my responsibility.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 35 mph, the power steering had failed, and the steering wheel was stiff and difficult to turn. The power steering assist warning light was illuminated. The contact's wife parked the vehicle in a parking lot. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not yet diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
The contact's parents own a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed the vehicle stalled with the service engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was slow to restart. The contact stated that when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle hesitated to respond. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who retrieved Diagnostic Trouble Code: P2112 (Throttle Actuator Stuck Closed). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.
At approximately 100,000 miles, the transmission blew out while my son was driving the vehicle on a bridge of a freeway. The engine, sputtered, locked up, would not stay in drive and died. He had to maneuver to safety in the middle of the road on a dangerous bridge. We had the transmission supposedly replaced at Future Ford of Concord. This repair took close to three weeks. Upon return of the car, the same thing happened again. We returned the car to the dealer. It stayed for another four weeks while they ran diagnostics, and supposedly fixed the car. Not more than 100 miles later the car experienced the same thing as the original incident. My son was once again on the freeway, the car lost all power, the transmission light went on and the car is again currently at Future Ford of Concord. Cars should not have transmission problems such as this with only 100,000 miles. And, if the problem was fixed, then we should not have had to take the car back two additional times for the same thing. I believe there exists a significant problem with the transmission of this 2015 Ford EXCAPE.
Ecoboost failed. Car would not accelerate while I was on a highway. Car went from 67 mph down to 35. There was no notice of the dramatic change in speed for the cars behind me. I was almost rear-ended.
In April 2021 I was stranded due to the degradation of the bushings on a cable connected to the transmission. The car was repaired. However, now in September 2021, a “transmission fault service now” error popped up while I was on the way to work. The diagnostics have come in and Ford is telling me I need an entirely new transmission. The car has less than 93K miles and should not be having a transmission issue, especially when a majority of the miles driven were freeway miles. Ford has quoted a repair cost of $6600, but I find it hard to believe that the incident in April is unrelated to the transmission failure today.
Earlier this year my car began shaking while I was driving it and when it was time for me to park, I couldn't move my shifter. I had to use the emergency break to keep my car in place. I noticed that my shift linkage had eroded and I had to place a temporary one from Auto Zone on there so I could continue driving. Ever since then, my new shift linkage continues to pop off and I am constantly having to use the emergency break to keep my car from going anywhere and placing the temporary shift link back on. I looked up recalls for my vehicle and noticed that other Fords had the same problem and were issued a recall, however, my particular vehicle did not fall under the recall list. There has been no warning signs that come on my dash which is very alarming. The only reason I ever know that the link is about to pop off is because my shifter becomes very loose and wiggles. This incident has happened several times dating back to around April 2021, and the most current time this has happened is today, September 7, 2021.
The bushing in the shifter cable fell out or somehow was no longer attached and could not be located. This prevented the vehicle from going into any gear and stranded me until the repairs could be made.
Yesterday while driving across a 5 mile long expressway bridge, my car started jerking and the RPMs reved up but I was unable to accelerate. It kept shaking and jerking and barely getting above 30 mph. When I was able to get over to the side, it would no longer move forward. I shut the car off, turned it back on, and it moved forward but I could not re-enter the highway speed traffic. My car was flatbed towed to the closest Ford dealer, who today said the transmission has failed. They quoted me $7000 for a new transmission. My car is a 2015 with 85,000 miles on it. The transmission is no longer under warranty and it gave no indications of beginning to fail before this happened. Having the transmission fail at highway speeds on a 4 lane bridge put my life and the lives of those around me in danger.
Took car in for maintenance (my Ford dealer) and was told needed new lug nuts. Was informed that it is “a known issue” with the lug nuts. I don’t see a recall but see quite a few issues reported. If their as dangerous as implied by the dealer then why not on recall. Was quoted over $300 to replace them.
January of last year I was driving on the highway and the car started shaking and jerking, slipping in and out of gear. It eventually reved to 5000 rpm and wouldn't move. Once at the transmission shop they said it would be over 5,000 dollars to get another transmission from the ford dealer. Now about a week ago I was driving on the highway again and the same thing happened this time with my 7 month old in the car leaving us stranded 20mi from home. Both times the transmission light came on after the car became disabled.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the instrument cluster screen was inoperable and the driver was unable to view safety related information regarding the tire pressure monitoring system and air bag warnings. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the instrument cluster display needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was included in the NHTSA campaign number 15V406000 (Electrical system). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 77,000.
I had to replace my transmission in August of 2020 due to brushes being missing or not functioning properly. The 1st and 5th gears were completely destroyed in my transmission and led my car to completely not running and having to be towed.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the rear driver’s side door failed to latch after multiple attempts to close the door. The contact wrapped a bungee cord around the door and drove the vehicle to a dealer. The contact was informed by the dealer that her vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V643000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages) and the vehicle was left overnight for the repair. The next day, the contact received a call from the dealer and was informed that the recall repair would not be performed due to damage to the front driver’s side door. The contact stated that an attempt to break into her vehicle had been made months prior which left a hole right above the front driver side door handle. The contact was provided an estimate to repair the damage so that recall repair could be performed. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 117,400.
Flywheel cracked/broken on 1.6 liter engine. University Ford North confirmed failure and replaced. They have/had part. Ford Motor Company was contacted on 8-19-2021 regarding this and refused to open a case to investigate. No warning lamps or indications were displayed for this failure. Issue was noticed on approximately August 3rd.
My ford has had white/blue smoke clouds coming from the exhaust for weeks. I scheduled maintenance at a ford dealership and was told a diagnostic was not even worth the money because the knew exactly what the issue is, the coolant is leaking into the engine, causing the engine to smoke and eventually will misfire, overheat and catch fire. I was told there is no repair, the engine needed to be replaced and because my warranty had expired, I must pay to replace the engine. Although, Ford is aware of their mistake and faulty parts, Ford is not accepting responsibility for the issue they caused innocent buyers. I am a single mother of an adopted kid. I bought this car 3 years ago under the impression Ford is a honest company.I am now seeing otherwise. I now am stuck with making a decision during a pandemic on paying upwards of 6 to 7,000 to replace an engine on a vehicle that has a faulty system, caused by Ford. If paying thousands of dollars on a vehicle that I can hardly afford now isn't hard to swallow, the newly purchased engine will result in the same failure because FORD HAS'NT FIX THE PROBLEM. Ford refuses to put in a new engine and Ford has not fixed an issue that has been occurring for almost 10 years, forcing Ford owners into debt and bankruptcy because where would a person like me get the money to pay for something like this again and again? I cant even afford to get into another car. I am scared to put my son in the vehicle now. I need help
Car won’t start after filling with fuel
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware of multiple leaks coming from the vehicle. The check engine and transmission warning lights were illuminated while driving. The vehicle was taken to several local dealers where it was diagnosed with coolant leaking into the cylinders. The contact was advised that the engine and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.
Transmission disengaged in the middle of a busy intersection without any warning. Car coasted to a complete stop in the intersection. Placed car in park and back in drive. Was able to get car to move out of the intersection with transmission slipping in and out of gear. Car was purchased new and was never in an accident nor had any damages. Only have 58,229 miles. Called Ford costumer service and they replied it was out of warranty. I asked to speak with a supervisor and they said I would receive a call back within 24 to 48 hours. That time has passed and I didn't receive a call back.
The accessories screen that the camera uses works intermittently. When not working the backup warning signal also does not work causing a safety issue of backing into someone or something
The first time the steering wheel was hard to turn was in late-June, 2021, then it went away until 7/12/21. The steering wheel was locking and really hard to turn while driving in the highway and on streets. I was driving below the speed limit so I can make make slight turn of the wheel. My car was just inches from hitting the side wall on the highway and could have flown over the overpass putting myself and others in danger. I had the car towed to the dealership and inspected. There was definitely a mechanical failure of the car and there were no warnings, alerts, or messages in the inside panel. . This is a big safety concern, I could have lost my life and others due to this failure without warning.
Our 2015 Ford Escape stearing has locked up on two occasions, around July 7, 2021. Milage is about 65,000 miles. We were just leaving the house and it was while we were in the driveway. The stearing released soon after it locked up, but we are unsure of the cars safety at this time.
Problem with 1.5L, 1.6L, 2.0L Turbocharged engine that Ford has been aware of since 2010. A Ford dealership told me this is a common defect with these engines. Coolant leaks into cylinders and ruins the engine. There is an active lawsuit on Ford as of December 2020. Ford dealership is trying to charge me 8500 dollars for an engine rebuild and will not give me a price on replacing the engine with a manufactured engine.
