Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)THE APPROXIMATE DATE ABOVE IS THE FIRST TIME MY EXCURSION BLEW OUT A SPARK PLUG WHILE ON A FAMILY TRIP IN PA. SINCE THEN, IT HAS BLOWN 2 MORE IN SEPARATE INSTANCES, THE MOST RECENT BEING ON THE HIGHWAY THIS PAST SUNDAY. THE FIRST INCIDENT I WAS TOWING AND PUTTING MORE STRAIN ON THE ENGINE, BUT THE 2ND AND 3RD INCIDENTS NO TOWING WAS INVOLVED. I HAVE READ ABOUT AND SEVERAL MECHANICS HAVE ALSO TOLD ME THE FORD TRITON ENGINES ARE KNOWN FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT SEEMS FORD SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
SMELLED DIESEL FUEL LIKE ODOR WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD AT HOME, BUT I DID NOT SEE ANY PROBLEM. TRAVELED TO WORK (15 MILES) AND LEFT A POOL OF DIESEL IN THE PARKING LOT. FUEL WAS STREAMING FROM BEHIND THE OIL PAN. IDIOT SMOKING THREW A CIGARETTE IN THE FUEL AND MANAGED TO START A SMALL FIRE THAT I EXTINGUISHED WITH AN EXTINGUISHER FROM WORK BEFORE IT BURNED THE TRUCK. I OPENED THE MESSAGE BOARDS AT HOME AND IT TURNS OUT THAT ALL OF THE DIESEL EXCURSIONS ARE AFFECTED. A BRACKET IS RUBBING THE PASSENGER SIDE FUEL LINE AND WEARS THROUGH CAUSING FUEL TO POUR OUT OVER THE HOT MOTOR AND HEADER. FUEL LINE REPLACED AFTER TOW. *TR
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
