DURING RAIN, WINDSHIELD LEAKS INTO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAUSING VEHICLE TO MALFUNCTION. MALFUNCTIONS INCLUDE, WINDSHIELD WIPER FAILURE, ELECTRIC WINDOW FAILURE AND RADIO FAILURE. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ALSO REMAINS ON WHEN THE KEY IS OUT OF THE IGNITION CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DRAIN. I HAVE GONE TO MY CAR WITH MY KEYS IN MY HAND AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOW THAT I AM RUNNING 100 MPH AND 6,000 RPM. THE BLOWER FOR THE A/C ALSO CONTINUES TO RUN AFTER THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING, IT TENDS TO "FIX ITSELF" IN PARK AND NEUTRAL, BUT WHEN SHIFTED INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CONTINUES TO MALFUNCTION. *JB
2000 FORD EXPEDITION ANTI SWAY BAR LINK BROKEN ON LEFT SIDE. THE SWAY BAR IS NOW HANGING LOOSE ON THAT SIDE. MY BOYFRIEND HEARD POPPING NOISES COMING FROM THE LEFT FRONT SIDE AND FOUND THE ANTI SWAY BAR BROKEN LOOSE. HE HIT A PUDDLE AT ABOUT 45 MPH AND NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.*AK
IN SPRING OF 2004 THE OWNER OF A 2000 FORD EXPEDITION VIN. NO. [XXX]. UPON OPENING THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE, THE COMPONENTS SURROUNDING THE CRUISE CONTROL COMPONENT AND SEVERAL OTHER COMPONENTS INCLUDING THE ABS MODULE WERE SO HOT THAT THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE RECEIVED MINOR BURNS DISCONNECTING THE RUPTURED PART OF THE ABS SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IDLE AND TURNED OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE (1) HOUR WHEN THE EVENT OCCURRED. UPON THE VEHICLE BEING STARTED THE NEXT DAY, THE HORN WOULD NOT WORK, THE ABS SYSTEM LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT ENGAGE. IN APRIL 2004, THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WAS REPLACED. IN LATE MAY, THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WAS STILL INOPERATIVE AFTER REPLACEMENT. ON JUNE 14,2005 THE COMPLAINTS CALLED FORD WITH THE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CONTINUING TO SHORT OUT IN VARIOUS WAYS INCLUDING PLACING THE VEHICLE IN THE DRIVE POSITION AND A NEW PROBLEM OF THE RADIO SYSTEM WOULD MALFUNCTION. WHEN PLACED BACK IN PARK,THE RADIO WAS RE-ACTIVATE. VEHICLE WAS EXAMINED BY PARKER FORD AND THEY ADVISED THE HORN CIRCUIT HAD BEEN OVERLOADED AND A FUSE BLOWN IN THE HORN MODULE. THEY ALSO ADVISED THE ABS MODULE AND PUMP WERE IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT. THE COMPLAINANT BELIEVES THIS VEHICLE REPRESENTS A CONTINUING FIRE HAZARD AND THAT THE DAMAGED COMPONENT FAILURES, ALL OF WHICH OCCURRED AT THE SAME TIME WERE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE DEFECTIVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. COMPLAINANT BELIEVES THAT ADDITIONAL VEHICLES MAY BE AT RISK DUE TO SIMILAR OVERLOADS ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN WRECKED, SUBMERGED IN WATER OR ALTERED IN ANYWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL FACTORY DESIGN.COMPLAINANT HAS 24 YEARS PRIOR LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPERIENCE. SPARE TIRE WINCH CABLE SNAPPED CAUSING SPARE TIRE TO DETACH AND BOUNCE AWAY BEHIND THE CAR WHILE DRIVING. NOBODY WAS HURT IN THIS INCIDENT, BUT I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY DEFECT.*AK
THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT WHEN ON AND ACCORDING TO MANUAL IT SAID TO BRING IT IN TO THE DEALER. THEY CHECK IT OUT AND FOUND THAT IT WAS A SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG SENSOR. THIS CAR DOES NOT HAVE A HAVE A SIDE IMPACT BAG. WE WERE INFORMED THAT EVEN THOUGH WE DONT HAVE SIDE BAG, THE FRONT BAGS WOULD NOT WORK BECAUSE OF THE WAY FORD PROGRAMMED THE AIRBAGS. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR AIR BAG INDICTOR LIGHT. I BELIEVE THIS FALSE INDICTOR COULD BE FATAL IF NOT RELSOVED IN A TIMING MANNER.
AIR SUSPENSION COMPRESSOR KEEPS FAILING. *JB
CONSUMER PARKED VEHICLE AT 9:00 AM, AND AT AROUND 4:00 PM FIRE STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON DRIVER'S SIDE. FIRE SPREAD TO HOUSE. AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR WAS REPLACED NEARLY SIX MONTHS BEFORE FIRE. FUSE WENT OUT ON A BLINKER. NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH CRUISE CONTROL. RARELY USED CRUISE CONTROL. MADE A LONG TRIP WITHIN 3 WEEKS BEFORE FIRE AND CRUISE WERE WORKING.*AK
BACK WINDOW SHATTERED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. *AK *JB
SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT WITH NO WARNING, BEFORE RECOMMENDED TIME TO BE REPLACED. THREADS ARE STRIPPED, HEAD ALONG WITH RELATED COMPONENTS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. SPARKS WERE OBSERVED DIRECTLY AT FUEL INTAKE WHERE FUEL VAPORS WERE AT CONSIDERABLE DANGER OF BEING IGNITED. VEHICLE COULD HAVE EXPLODED WITH AN ENTIRE FAMILY INCLUDING 3 YOUNG CHILDREN RIDING IN VEHICLE AT TIME OF INCIDENT . *LA
2000 FORD EXPEDITION, EDDIE BAUER CONCERN: FRONT STABILIZER LINK BOLTS APPEAR TO BE COUNTERFIT. THE BOLTS FAIL AT THE TOP CONNECTION TO THE STABILIZER BAR AT 62,000-65,000 MILES. THIS CREATES UNSAFE STEERING AND HANDLING UNDER MANY DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE HEAD OF THE BOLT SHEARS OFF. THE OEM BOLT DOES NOT MEET THE STRENGTH REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS VEHICLE. REPLACEMENT BOLTS CONTAINED IN THE LINK KITS FROM FORD ARE NOT THE SAME. THE BOLTS ARE GALVANIZED AND APPEAR TO BE IMPERIAL (BRITISH) STANDARD VICE METRIC. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE NEW LINK KITS SAYS THAT THEY DISCOVER MANY SUCH FAILURES AND SELL MANY REPLACEMENT KITS FOR THIS VEHICLE. THESE BOLTS ARE LIFETIME ITEMS. THEY SHOULD NEVER FAIL. THE RESULTS COULD BE CATASTROPHIC. I HAVE THE REMAINDER OF THE ASSEMBLY THAT RECENTLY FAILED. THE OTHER SIDE FAILED LAST SPRING AND THE ASSEMBLY FELL OFF COMPLETELY. I WOULD LIKE TO SEND THAT PARTS THAT I HAVE TO YOUR RESEARCH GROUP.*AK
WHEN TURNING THE FRONT TIRES ARE RUBBING AGAINST THE AXLE. DEALERSHIP IS PUZZLED AS TO HOW TO REPAIR THE DEFECT. *AK THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT. *NM
ON THE MORNING OF 6 JAN 2004, MY KIDS AND I WERE ON A ROUTINE TRIP TO THE GYM. THIS GYM IS ONLY A FEW MILES FROM OUR HOME. OUR 2000 FORD EXPEDITION WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND STAYED AT 30 MPH EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT HAVE THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. WHEN I TRIED TO STOP AT SEVERAL RESIDENTIAL STOP SIGNS NEAR THE GYM, THE EXPEDITION WOULD NOT BRAKE AND PROCEEDED TO RUN THROUGH THE STOP SIGNS. THE EXPEDITION WOULD NOT STOP AND STAYED STUCK ON 30 MPH. I CALLED 911 FOR ASSISTANCE. THE OPERATOR TOLD ME TO PUT MY PARKING BRAKE ON, AND I DID. WHEN THIS ACTION DID NOT STOP THE CAR, SHE SUGGESTED THAT I SHIFT TO A LOWER GEAR. I DID, AND STILL THE EXPEDITION WOULD NOT STOP. I HAD TO DRIVE DOWN A STEEP HILL WITHOUT THE PROTECTION OF BRAKES. AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL WAS A TRAFFIC LIGHT AT AN INTERSECTION. I COULD NOT STOP OR SLOW DOWN. I HAD TO TURN RIGHT GOING STILL 30 MPH. I COULD ONLY HONK MY HORN TO CALL THE ATTENTION OF ONCOMING CARS TO THE FACT THAT I WAS COMING AND THAT I COULD NOT STOP. AFTER MAKING THE RIGHT TURN, THE OPERATOR ASKED ME IF WE WERE SLOWING DOWN AT ALL. I REPLIED NO AND THAT THE EXPEDITION REMAINED AT 30 MPH AND WAS NOT SLOWING DOWN. ABOUT ONE MINUTE AFTER HER QUESTION, JUST LIKE THAT, THE CAR SLOWED DOWN AND STOPPED. THE EAST PEORIA POLICE OFFICERS (WHO BY THIS TIME WERE ON THE SCENE) TOLD ME TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND I DID. THEY DROVE THE EXPEDITION TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET FOR ME. IT WAS THE SINGLE MOST TERRIFYING MOMENT OF MY LIFE. AFTER THE INCIDENT TWO SEPARATE MECHANICS FROM TWO DIFFERENT BUSINESSES CONCLUDED THAT THE BRAKES WERE FINE. MY HUSBAND HAS CONTACTED FORD AND THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. BOTH HAVE DENIED KNOWING OF ANY SUCH PREVIOUS INCIDENTS (WHICH ARE CLEARLY DOCUMENTED IN THIS FORUM). AS OF TODAY, FORD HAS TAKEN NEITHER RESPONSIBILITY OR ACTION. THE DEALERSHIP HAS DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL AND WILL KEEP IT NEXT WEEK FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS TO RUN DIAGNOSTIC TESTING ON IT. COMPLAINT BY CRISTINA PATE, EAST PEORIA, IL *LA
PRIOR TO THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ORIGINAL TIRES PURCHASED ON THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE SAFETY RECALL OF TIRES, I HAD NO APPARENT PROBLEMS WITH MY TRANSMISSION OR REAR SUSPENSION. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE TIRE REPLACEMENT I NOTICED A SCRUBBING OR DRAGGING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND QUESTIONED AS TO WHY THE VEHICLE WAS NOW MAKING A NOISE THAT WAS NOT THERE BEFORE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TIRES WERE A LITTLE LARGER THAN THE ORIGINAL ONES AND THAT THE NOISE WOULD SUBSIDE. THE NOISE DID NOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK AGAIN AND I ASKED WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE EXPEDITION BECAUSE THE NOISE WAS VERY ANNOYING AND APPEARED TO GET WORST. I WAS WORRIED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS HAVING PROBLEMS. THE EXPEDITION WAS PLACED ON THE RACK AND EXAMINED BY THE SAME FORD DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THE NOISE CONTINUED AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS. WE TOOK THE TRANSMISSION TO HAVE IT FLUSHED AND THEN STARTED EXPERIENCING INCREASED PROBLEMS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER HAVING IT FLUSHED. SO MUCH SO THAT IT WAS RETURNED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE SAME DAY BECAUSE WE THOUGHT MAYBE THEY HAD FORGOTTEN TO PUT SOMETHING BACK TOGETHER. WE WERE REFERRED TO A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP TO CHECK. AT THAT TIME, THE TRANSMISSION SERVICE REPAIR MAN SAID THAT HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT ON HIS MACHINE. WHEN WE RETURNED HOME, WE NOTICED THAT THE PROBLEM APPEARED TO WORSEN SO WE DID NOT DRIVE THE EXP FOR ABOUT A MONTH HOPING THAT WE WOULD BE ABLE TO RESEARCH THE PROBLEM AND FIND SOMEONE ELSE WHO HAD EXPERIENCED AND FIXED IT. TO NO AVAIL, WE DID NOT. THE EXP WILL NOT EVEN MOVE ANYMORE. THESE PROBLEMS DID NOT OCCUR UNTIL THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. *AK
SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT WITH NO WARNING AND BEFORE RECOMMENDED TIME THEY WERE TO BE REPLACED. THREADS WERE STRIPPED. HEAD ALONG WITH RELATED COMPONENTS HAVE TO BE REPLACED. *AK
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE SRS LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. THIS CAUSED THE DRIVER TO SUSTAIN MAJOR INJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO A HOSPITAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE CAUSE HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED. *AK
WE PARKED OUR 2000 FORD EXPEDITION XLT IN FRONT OF OUR HOUSE AFTER DRIVING IT APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES TOWING OUR BOAT. WE ARRIVED AT OUR HOUSE AROUND 9:15PM. AT AROUND 10:30PM, MY NEIGHBOR KNOCKED ON MY DOOR AND TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. FLAMES WERE COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND THE LEFT-FRONT TIRE WAS ON FIRE. 2 NEIGHBORS AND I SPRAYED THE VEHICLE WITH GARDEN HOSES UNTIL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED. THEY HAD TO RIP THE HOOD OFF THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. AFTER INSPECTING THE BURN DAMAGE, THE FIREMAN INDICATED THAT THE FIRE STARTED ON TOP OF THE ENGINE AND WAS PROBABLY DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. HE ALSO STATED THERE WAS NO SIGN OF MALICIOUS ACTIVITY. THE ADJUSTER WILL NOT COME OUT UNTIL MONDAY, BUT THE FIREMAN INDICATED THAT IT WOULD MOST LIKELY BE TOTALLED.*AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED BY 7 PM IN THE DRIVEWAY AND THE KEY WAS TAKEN OUT OF THE IGNITION SWITCH. AROUND 3 AM THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. *AK *JB
WITHOUT WARNING SPARE TIRE ASSEMBLY FAILED, CAUSING THE SPARE TIRE TO COME UNATTACHED FROM THE ASSEMBLY. DRIVER PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO GET THE SPARE TIRE FROM OUT OF THE STREET. *AK
THE IGNITION COIL FAILED TWICE WHICH RESULTED IN A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE IGNITION COIL SPRINGS WERE DEFECTIVE. *AK *NM
RECALL CAMPAIGN 05V017000 CONCERNING FORD CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY NEXT TO ANOTHER VEHICLE. BOTH VEHICLES WERE TOTALLY DAMAGED DUE TO THE FIRE. LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS NOT DETERMINED.*AK *JB
THE SPARE TIRE WHICH IS MOUNTED UNDER THE BODY OF MY 2000 FORD EXPEDITION FELL OFF WHILE I WAS ON AN ENTRANCE RAMP OF AN EXPRESSWAY. FORTUNATELY, THE ERRANT SPARE TIRE DID NOT HIT THE CARS BEHIND ME. THE TIRE WAS HELD BY A STEEL CABLE THAT BROKE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED, AND NOT SWEPT UNDER THE RUG. THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT FIX IT WITHOUT PAYMENT. I NOTIFIED THE CORP CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR FORD. GOT THE RUNAROUND, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD FORWARD TO THE ENGINEERING DEPT. I KNOW THAT THIS SAME ISSUE HAPPENED TO A FRIEND OF MINE. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE. *LA
THE REPLACEMENT GOODYEAR TIRE ON THE PASSENGER REAR SIDE SIDEWALL BLEW OUT ON THE HIGHWAY .*AK
PAINT ON THE ROOF AND HOOD CHIPPING OFF WITH HEAVY CORROSION UNDERNEATH. SPREADING RAPIDLY. *AK
ONCE THE SAFETY SEATS HAD BEEN INSTALLED ON EACH SIDE OF THE MIDDLE SEAT, THE CENTER SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT. THE CENTER SEAT BELT BECOMES USELESS. IT WILL NOT RETRACT OR EXTEND. *AK *TC *SC
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED. CONSUMER SUSTAINED INJURIES, AND WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR ONE WEEK. POLICE REPORT AND PICTURES WERE AVAILABLE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY ANOTHER VEHICLE BROAD SIDED CONSUMER'S VEHICLE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER WAS INJURED, AND TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL. *AK
AFTER TAKING MY 2000 FORD EXPEDITION FOR A ROUTINE TRANSMISSION SERVICE AND BRAKE JOB AT AL PACKER WEST IN ROYAL PALM BEACH, FL, THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT APPROXIMATELY FIVE TO SEVEN MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS SERVICED. I HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. IN ORDER FOR THEM TO REPAIR IT, I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $529 AFTER I HAD JUST PAID THEM #300 FOR THE ROUTINE SERVICE AND BRAKE JOB. I LIVE 35 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP, AND DROVE HAVING NO PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN I PICKED IT UP; HOWEVER, MY TRANSMISSION FAILED. AFTER RESEARCHING WITH OTHER MECHANICS, I FEEL THAT IT WAS THEIR ERROR AND THEIR PRODUCTS LIABILITY INSURANCE SHOULD HAVE COVERED THE EXPENSES. *LA
WATER IS LEAKING UNDER THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS TO MALFUNCTION. THREE FORD DEALERS WE SPOKE WITH, ALONG WITH A FRIEND WHO OWNS AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND ANOTHER WHO REPLACES WINDSHIELDS ARE ALL VERY FAMILIAR WITH THIS PROBLEM. *JB

ENGINE OIL LEAK. REPAIRED TWICE UNDER WARRANTY, THIRD TIME THEY COULDN'T FIND THE SAME LEAK. *LA
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER SMELLED A BURNING ODOR. OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW HEAVY SMOKE. FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED CRUISE CONTROL SENSOR BURNED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT NORMAL SPEED AND WITH NO WARNING RIGHT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED, CONSUMER HAD TO PULL OVER. CONTINENTAL, GRABBER AW, P275/60R17, DOT ADT044T24000. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE IN THE DRIVEWAY, SOME FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER THE VEHICLE HAD FLAMES COMING FROM THE HOOD. THE CONSUMER STATED, THE BRAKE FLUID LEAKED OUT OF THE CRUISE CONTROL ONTO THE WIRING HARNESS. *NM
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS FRONT RIGHT TIRE BLEWOUT, CAUSING TREAD SEPARATION. CONSUMER MANAGED TO PULL OVER. HAD TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, BUT THE PROBLEM HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED. TIRE SIZE 275/60R16.*AK

ON A PREVIOUS OCCASION, THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL AND THE ABS. THE CONSUMER STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL HAS BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES AND THE HORN WAS REPLACED 3 TIMES. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE CONTINUED FAILURES OF THE ABS AND HORN WERE DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE WIRING. *JB
I PURCHASED A NEW FORD EXPEDITION IN AUGUST 2000. AT TIME OF PURCHASE I NOTICED THAT A NOISY MOTOR WOULD RUN UNDER THE HOOD FOR 30-45 SECONDS. THIS RATTLING NOISE WAS AUDIBLE WITHIN THE VEHICLE. I QUESTIONED THIS NOISE TO THE SALES PERSON. HE SAID IT WAS THE COMPRESSOR OF THE SUSPENSION LEVELING SYSTEM AND WAS NORMAL. SEVERAL MONTHS PASSED WITH THE SAME NOISE BEING HEARD AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE OR WHILE DRIVING. DURING THE FIRST MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENT I QUESTIONED THIS NOISY COMPRESSOR AGAIN. THE MECHANIC SAID, EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD, NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, IT'S COMMON FOR THE EXPEDITIONS TO DO THIS. I QUESTIONED THIS COMPRESSOR NOISE EACH TIME I TOOK IT IN FOR SCHEDULE MAINTENANCE. AS ALWAYS, I WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL. I WAS CONCERNED THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG, BECAUSE IT JUST DIDN'T SEEM NORMAL FOR THIS NOISE TO HAPPEN CONSTANTLY. ON FEBRUARY 9, 2002 I HAD TWO RECALLS PERFORMED. ONCE AGAIN I HAD THE DEALERSHIP CHECK THE NOISY COMPRESSOR. THE WORK ORDERED STATED, CK AIR RIDE AIR PUMP & CUSTOMER STATES PUMP IS VERY NOISY. MECHANIC INDICATED, CKD & NO ABNORMAL NOISES AT THIS TIME. ON JULY 28, 2003 THE SUSPENSION COMPRESSOR FINALLY STOPPED WORKING. A NEW SUSPENSION COMPRESSOR WAS INSTALLED. THE MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THE OLD COMPRESSOR WAS BURNED OUT AND MAKING A RATTLING NOISE. I TOLD HIM THAT IT ALWAYS MADE THAT RATTLING NOISE. HE STATED THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG BEFORE BECAUSE IT DOESN'T MAKE THE NOISE NOW. THIS COMPRESSOR WAS THE MOTOR THAT CONSTANTLY MADE NOISE FROM DAY ONE. YET I WAS ALWAYS TOLD THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG. IF NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT, THEN WHY IS IT SILENT NOW WHEN THE SUSPENSION SYSTEMS ACTIVATES. A MAJOR FATALITY COULD HAVE OCCURRED HAD I BEEN DRIVING 65 MILES PER HOUR. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ONLY DRIVING AWAY FROM A PARKING SPACE WHEN THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM FAILED. I'M STILL PARANOID AFTER HAVING THIS REPAIRED. I'M ALWAYS QUESTIONING, WHEN WILL THE SUSPENSION FAIL? *NLM

A COINCIDENCE???? I THINK NOT!!!!! THAT REPAIR COST MY HUSBAND AND I OVER $300.00. THE SERVICEMAN EVEN INFORMED US HE WOULD NEVER BUY A FORD SUV AND HE WORKS FOR YOUR COMPANY!!!!!
