ON DAY OF PURCHASE, VEHICLE SHOOK, PULLED TO RIGHT AND REQUIRED CONSTANT STEERING CORRECTIONS TO MAINTAIN COURSE. STEERING IS VERY SENSITIVE AND THERE IS A TRACKING PROBLEM. RETURNED TO DEALER THREE TIMES AND VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT DEALER FOR CORRECTION OF THESE PROBLEMS 14 DAYS.
WHILE DRIVING THE SRS LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND REPLACED IT. *AK
ONGOING PROBLEM WITH VIBRATION. WHENEVER VEHICLE PULLED OFF FROM A STOP POSITION IT WOULD VIBRATE, STOP FOR A WHILE AND COMMENCE AGAIN WHEN VEHICLE REACHEED 45 MPH. VEHICLE BEEN IN DEALER SHOP ON FOUR OCCASIONS, AND ON EACH VISIT, PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. BUT PROBLEM STILL REOCCURRING. *AK
WHILE VEHICLE IS IN GEAR & DRIVING, WOULD HAVE FOOT ON BRAKES TO STOP, AND VEHICLE WOULD LUNGE FORWARD AT 10MPH. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE SLIGHTLY RELEASED, THE RPMS WOULD BE REVVING UP. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP & WAS INFORMED BY MECHANIC AFTER DIAGONISTIC WAS RUN, THAT EVERYTHING WAS ACCORDING TO SPECS. MANUFACTURER AGREED WITH DEALERSHIP. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC INFORMED DETERMINED THAT THE IDLE ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND REPLACED IT THREE TIMES. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
THE TURN SIGNAL DOES NOT STAY ENGAGED (CLICK INTO THE ON POSITION) WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED SLIGHTLY IN EITHER DIRECTION.. THE PROBLEM MAY SEEM MINOR, BUT I CANNOT LET OTHERS KNOW MY INTENTION TO TURN INTO A DRIVEWAY OR STREET WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED SLIGHTLY (AS IS THE CASE WHEN ROUNDING A BEND). THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO FORD'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY STATE THAT "OPERATION OF SIGNALS IS NORMAL" ON A REPAIR ORDER DATED 02/24/2000. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THIS HAPPENS ON THE FORD RANGER TOO. MY CONCERN SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED BECAUSE I HAVE HAD TO EITHER TAKE ONE HAND OFF THE STEERING WHEEL TO "HOLD DOWN" THE TURN SIGNAL LEVER, OR NOT SIGNAL TO OTHER DRIVERS. WITH THE POPULARITY OF FORD SUV'S , THE NUMBER OF POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS INCIDENTS IS VERY HIGH. A MASSIVE RECALL MIGHT BE IN ORDER TO ALLOW DRIVERS TO OPERATE THEIR VEHICLES MORE SAFELY. *AK
IF THE IGNITION SWITCH IS TURNED TO IGNITION POSITION #3 AS DEFINED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL, (P61), THE GEARSHIFT LEVER MAY BE MOVED OUT OF PARK, WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE. POSITION #3 IS SUPPOSED TO SHUT OFF ENGINE AND ALL ACCESSORIES WITHOUT LOCKING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT ALSO UNLOCKS THE BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK SAFTY MECHANISM THAT IS SUPPOSED TO PREVENT THE GEARSHIFT LEVER FROM BEING MOVED FROM P (PARK). OUR 2 YEAR OLD SON WAS ABLE TO KNOCK THE GEARSHIFT LEVER DOWN 1 POSITION OUT OF PARK(REVERSE) AND THE CAR ROLLED FORWARD, DOWN A HILL AND INTO A POND, WTH HIM IN IT! THE VEHICLE DOOR LOCKS AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED AS THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MOVE. LUCKILY THE PASSANGER WINDOW OPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WENT INTO THE WATER (MUST HAVE SHORTED OUT) WE WERE ABLE TO RESCUE HIM BEFORE THE VEHICLE SANK (APPROX 1 MIN). WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS REMOVED FROM THE WATER, THE GEARSHIFT LEVER WAS IN REVERSE POSITION AND THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS IN POSITION #3. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT THE BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK IS NOT ACTIVATED WHEN THE IGNITION SWITCH IS IN POSITION #3. IS THERE A VALID REASON FOR THIS, OR IS IT AN OVERSIGHT IN THE DESIGN. I HAVE SINCE TESTED THIS ON A 1997 EXPEDITION AND IT DOES THE SAME THING. HAS THERE BEEN ANY OTHER REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH THIS? WE CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THAT THEY DO NOT DO THEIR OWN SAFETY TESTING AND THAT WE SHOULD CONTACT THE NHTSA. WHAT SHOULD OUR NEXT COURSE OF ACTION BE?
MY CONCERN IS THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE VEHICLE, THIS WAS A REAR END COLLISION WITH A MAZDA 626 , WHY SO MUCH DAMAGE, WHY DID THE REAR WINDOWS POP OPEN ON IMPACT,
WHENEVER DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS VEHICLE WILL VIBRATE UP AND DOWN THE HIGHWAY.*AK *JB
ODOMETER BLANKS OUT NO DIGITAL READ OUT FOR MILEAGE, SEATS ARE TORN BADLY DON'T USE OR DRIVE THAT OFTEN 1 OR TWICE A WEEK IT HAS ONLY 145K MILES. NOW, THE AIR LINE HAS BEEN REPLACED AND IT LOW IN REAR WITH COMPRESSOR CAN'T FIND LEAK AND BELIEVE THE AIR BAGS WILL NEED REPLACED TRYING TO FIND OUT WHERE ISSUE IS AND NO WARNING LIGHT THIS TIME ON DASH LIKE USUAL. *TR
RE LTR REC'D FROM FORD TO HAVE THE CRUISE CONTROL DISCONNECTED IN FORD EXPEDITION. *BF THE CONSUMER HAS NOT GOTTEN HER CRUISE CONTROL DISCONNECTED YET BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T FEEL A GREAT SENSE OF URGENCY. *NM

2000 FORD EXPEDITION CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED. *MR AFTER VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR 40 MINUTES A FIRE STARTED WHICH ORIGINATED UNDER THE HOOD. *TT *NM
THE CONSUMER'S 2000 FORD EXPEDITION CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED IN HIS GARAGE. *NM MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED. *TT
2000 FORD EXPEDITION JACK EQUIPMENT CONFORMS TO A SEDAN RATHER THAN A SUV.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***.*MR WHEN THE JACK WAS FULLY EXTENDED, IT DIDN'T LIFT THE TIRE OFF THE GROUND. THE JACK WAS HIGHLY UNSTABLE AND WHEN VEHICLE DROVE BY, THE VEHICLE ROCKED DANGEROUSLY BECAUSE A WOOD 4 X 4 HAD TO BE USED JUST TO REACH THE POINT WHERE THE SUV COULD EVEN GET OFF THE GROUND. *JB
2000 FORD EXPEDITION EXPERIENCING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS FROM A LEAK IN THE FRONT WINDSHIELD.*DT THE LEAK WAS INTERNAL CAUSING WATER DAMAGE TO THE FUSE BOX AND CORROSION ON THE GEM MODULE. *JB
THE AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM'S CONDENSATION POURS DOWN ONTO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER CAUSING A VERY LOUD CRACKING SOUND. NLM
PLASTIC FUEL TANK LEAKS DUE TO HAVING A 1 INCH HOLE FROM ROAD HAZARDS. DEALER HAS SEEN VEHICLE. *AK
HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT BRIGHT AS THEY SHOULD BE. MUST BE LENS DESIGN. NOT AS BRIGHT AS 91 & 96 EXPLORER, 96 JAGUAR, 1953 SUNBEAM, 98 F150. NUMEROUS INDIVIDUALS HAVE REMARKED HOW BAD THEY ARE. HAVE BEEN ADJUSTED BY DEALER. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED 60 MPH OR OVER CONSUMER NOTICED VIBRATION COMING FROM THE FRONT END. ALSO, VEHICLE SHOOK, CAUSING POOR STEERING CONTROL. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER, DEALER HAS REPLACED THE TIRES AND RIMS, BUT PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
WHEN USING JACK TO REMOVE TIRE, JACK GAVE WAY, CAUSING VEHICLE TO FALL DOWN ON ITS AXLE, POTENTIALLY INJURING THE OWNER'S ARM. CONSUMER HAS LINKED THE PROBLEM TO BASE PLATE OF THE LIFT WHICH JACK WAS TOO SMALL TO SUPPORT DUE TO THE WEIGHT OF VEHICLE. *AK *ML

FIRESTONE WILDERNESS/AT P235/R75/17 IS STANDARD EQUIPMENT ON THE NEW FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH AND IN HOT WEATHER CONDITIONS REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRE EXPLODED, CAUSING THE ENTIRE SIDEWALL TREAD TO SEPARATE. FIRESTONE HAS BEEN CONTACTED, AND REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING. *AK
WHILE DRIVING POWER ASSIT SYSTEM CUTS ON AND OFF, CAUSING ERRATIC MOVEMENTS AND LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
FIRESTONE HAS ISSUED A RECALL ON ONLY ONE SIZE OF THE FAILING TIRE, WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER SIZES? THE 265 COME ON MY EXPEDITION, IT IS MADE WITH THE SAME DESIGN FLAW, MANUFACTURED AT THE SAME FACTORY, WHY IS NO ONE ADDRESSING OR ADMITTING TO ANYTHING BUT THE 235. 235'S ARE THE MOST POPULAR SIZE USED THUS THE REASON FROM THEM SHOWING THE LEADING FAILURE RATES. THE OTHER SIZE TIRES ARE NO DIFFERENT, JUST NOT USED AS WIDELY BUT FIRESTONE WILL NOT EVEN CONSIDER THE POSSIBILITY OR ADMIT OTHER TIRES ARE FLAWED. PLEASE IN THE INTEREST OF MY FAMILIES SAFETY AND MILLIONS OF OTHER LOOK INTO THE FAILURES OF OTHER SIZE FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT TIRES THAT ARE SHOULD BE RECALLED.*AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P265X16 )

WHY DID THE NHTSA ONLY EXPAND THIER INVESTIGATION TO INCLUDE 16" FIRESTONE TIRES. I HAVE 17" TIRES ON MY VEHICLE AND THINK THEY SHOULD BE LOOKED AT ALSO, AND POSSIBLY INCLUDED IN ANY FUTURE RECALLS OF FIRESTONE TIRES.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P265/75 17 )
BOTH FRONT TIRES ARE "BUBBLING" ON THE OUTER EDGES. THE RIGHT SIDE IS WORSE. MY MECHANIC THINKS IT IS FROM THE SHOCKS AND WARRENTS ATTENTION AT ONLY 11.5K MILES. HE IS WORRIED OF A BLOW-OUT. HE SAYS TIRE IS "BOUNCING". *AK( DOT NUMBER: )

AUXILIARY POWER POINT ON LOWER REAR OF CENTER CONSOLE BETWEEN FRONT SEATS HAS THE POWER POINT MOUNTED ON THE REAR OF THE CONSOLE ABOUT ONE INCH FROM THE FLOOR. WHEN THE SECOND ROW OF SEATS ARE FOLDED DOWN AS MANY PEOPLE DO WHEN TRAVELING, THE TOP OF THE SECOND SEAT BACKS BLOCKS ACCESS TO THE POWER POINT. TYPICALLY OWNERS PLUG IN A COOLER OR OTHER AUXILIARY ITEMS HERE. WHEN YOU TRY TO PLUG IN THE ITEM, YOU MUST FORCE THE TOP OF THE 2ND ROW SEAT BACK AWAY FROM THE REAR OF THE CENTER CONSOLE AND FORCE THE PLUG IN AT AN ACKWARD ANGLE AND ONCE PLUGGED IN, THE WIRES LEADING TO THE PLUG ARE SEVERLY BENT AT RIGHT ANGLES TO THE PLUG AND THEN THE 2ND SEAT BACK PRESSES DIRECTLY AGAINST THE WIRES WHERE THEY ENTER THE PLUG. THIS HAS CAUSED THE WIRE INSULATION TO BREAK AND PEEL OFF ALLOWING THE EXPOSED WIRES TO COME IN CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER AND /OR SHORT OUT THE POWER POINT. I FEEL THIS IS A DIRECT FIRE AND SAFETY HAZARD AND HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND TO FORD IN THEIR QUALITY CONTROL SURVEYS THEY MAIL OUT AFTER PURCHASE. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY RESPONSE FROM FORD. THE OWNERS MANUAL SHOWS THE AUXILIARY POWER POINT ON THE SIDE OF THE CENTER CONSOLE AS IT WAS IN THE 1997 EXPEDITION I HAD PREVIOUSLY OWNED, BUT THE FACTS ARE IT ISD INSTALLED ON THE REAR OF THE CENTER CONSOLE. FORD SHOULD ACCEPT THIS AS A VAILD SAFETY PROBLEM (FIRE HAZARD) AND RECALL THE VEHICLES TO HAVE THE AUXILIARY POWER POINT MOVED TO THE SIDE OF THE CONSOLE.*AK
I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT RECALL INFORMATION ON MY TIRES,BEFORE THEY FAIL! NO SAFETY DEFECT MENTIONED. (TIRESIZE: 17)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 17 )
THE RIGHT REAR GENERAL TIRE BLEW OUT AND SEPARATED WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING AT 60MPH, DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE TIRE BLEW OUT BECAUSE OF TREAD SEPARATION AND RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE THE REMAINING THREE AS WELL, HOWEVER CONSUMER HAD TO DRIVE HOME 400 MILES TO GET REPLACEMENT TIRES. *YH
ALL FOUR TIRES SHOW SIGNIFICANT CRACKS ALONG INSIDE ABOVE AND INCLUDING THE BEAD. CHECKED TIRES AFTER HEARING SLAPPING NOISE FROM BOTH REAR TIRES. GENERAL TIRE DEALER DETERMINED FAILURE, BUT COULD NOT REPLACE DUE TO SHORTAGE OF THE TIRES. REPLACED WITH MICHELON AT MY EXPENSE AS FORD MOTOR AND CONTINENTAL TIRE REFUSED ASSISTANCE WHEN CONTACTED. WHILE TRAVELING AT35 MPH, AND AS RESULT OF A CRASH, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT ANY TIME. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMAITON.*AK
DEALER REPLACED FIRESTONE TIRES WITH GOODYEAR TIRES. GOODYEAR TIRES COULD NOT BE BALANCED, OR WERE OUT OF ROUND. AFTER TRYING TEN GOODYEAR TIRES THE DEALER PUT ON B F GOODRICH TIRES. THE 17" GOODYEAR REPLACEMENT TIRE IS VERY POOR QUAILTY AND CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO VIRBRATE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I WILL BE SENDING NSTA COPIES OF LETTERS I WROTE TO FORD AND THE DEALERSHIP. WHILE GOING UP A HILL WHEN FUEL IS LOW OR HALF FULL AND WITHOUT ANY INDICATION VEHICLE WOULD STALL, AND WOULD NOT RESTART UNTILE IT IS ON LEVEL GROUNDS. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

WHILE PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT LOW SPEED CONSUMER HEARD A POPPING NOISE COMING FROM FRONT END OF VEHICLE. * AK CONSUMER STATES TRANSMISSION MAKES A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN DOWNSHIFTING, DEALER REPLACED THE MAIN CONTROL VALVE BODY, TRANSMISSION PAN GASKET, AND ACCUMULATOR PISTONS. DEALER INSTALLED BEARING STRIPS IN THE ADJUSTERS FOR THE SUSPENSION NOISE, HOWEVER LATER FOUND THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE LEFT FRONT FLOOR BODY MOUNT. OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE WAS LOOSE, DEALER INSTALLED A NUT AND PANEL. TIRES MADE VIBRATION NOISES AT 65 MPH AND UP, DEALER REPLACED TWO TIRES DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUN OUT. HEAD LINER WAS SAGGING DOWN. LEFT REAR TRIM WAS LOOSE AT BACK EDGE, DEALER REPLACED. A CONNECTION WAS LOOSE AT MIRROR, DEALER SECURED. *ET
